TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD 500. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESTART AND WAS LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MIKE CASTRUCCI FORD (1020 OH-28, MILFORD, OH 45150, (513) 275-1048) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A SHUTDOWN FEATURE AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE TOWED IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE VEHICLE WILL MAKE A BUNCH OF THUDDING. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT MAKES THE VEHICLES HANDLING GO OUT OF CONTROL MAKING IT TO WHERE YOU SWERVE VERY HARD.

FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS MY CAR HAS BEEN GOING INTO "FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE" (BASICALLY STALLING) WHILE EXCELLERATING ON HIGHWAY OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. ACCORDING TO OTHERS ONLINE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS COMMON WITH A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE "FIX" FORD PROVIDED IN THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, HOWEVER LIKE MANY OTHERS THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO STAND BY THERE PRODUCTS. I CAN NOT EXPRESS TO YOU HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS TO BE GOING HIGHWAY SPEED AND TO HAVE YOUR CAR STALL!!

THE CAR HAS LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ON THE FREEWAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. HAD TO LIMP OFF TO THE SIDE TO TRY TO RESET VEHICLE. AFTER GETTING TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY, I COULD ONLY DRIVE THE CAR NO FASTER TO 35 MPH BECAUSE THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I AM YET AGAIN HAVING THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. IN DECEMBER 2012, FORD ISSUES A STATEMENT TO CUSTOMERS TELLIN US TO GO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT PUT A TEMPORARY BANDAIDE ON THE REAL PROBLEM THAT FORD DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR. EVEN AFTER I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AND REPROGRAMMED, IT STILL IDLES HIGH AND JERKS. TODAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER A 45MIN NONSTOP HWY TRIP, I CUT THE ENGINE OFF ONCE I REACHED MY DESTINATION FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES, AFTER WHICH I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT FAILED. AFTER 5 MINS, THE CAR STARTED, LUCKILY I MADE IT HOME, NO LIGHTS ON DASH!!! I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY THE FIRST TIME IT WOULDN'T START, NOW AFTER A THROTTLE CLEANING!!, I AM STILL HAVING ALL THE VERY SAME ISSUES. STOP AT A STOP LIGHT ENGINE THROTTLED UP AND THEN STALLED. AT IDLE AT AN INTERSECTION WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD VIOLENTLY AS IF SOMEONE HAD STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO REACT QUICKLY ENOUGH TO AVERT HITTING A PASSING CAR. THE ENGINE THEN FELT AS IF IT STALLED AND THE DISPLAY READ "FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE" AND THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I PUT IT IN PARK SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT...FUNCTIONING FINE NOW. IDENTICAL SCENARIO HAPPENED 2 WEEKS PRIOR. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS CAR FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I WAS DRIVING AT THE APPROX. SPEED OF 58MPH AND MY CAR STARTING SKIPPING AND CHUGGING. I SLOWED DOWN AND AS I BEGUN TO SLOW DOWN MY CAR GAVE ME A DIAGNOSIS CODE OF FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE, THEN MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WITH NO POWER AT ALL. IT WAS HARD TO PULL OFF THE RODE AND STEER THE CAR OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENED UP. I PULLED OVER AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TRIED RE-CRANKING THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO RE-CRANK THE CAR AND DROVE FURTHER UP THE RODE. I CONTINUED TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. I DROVE APPROX. 10 MILES FROM THE FIRST INDICATION THAT HAPPENED AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO CUT OFF AND GIVE ME THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE APPROX 4 MORE TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME WITH THE CAR. I LET THE CAR COOL FOR AN HOUR OR SO AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE COAL PACK, ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS, AND REPLACED THE MANIFEST. I PICKED MY CAR UP ONCE REPAIRED AT THE LOCAL MECHANIC AND GOT APPROX. 6 MILES FROM THE SHOP AND IT CUT OFF AND DID THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT ALL WITHOUT IT GIVING ME THE ERROR MESSAGE AND CUTTING OFF. I HAVE READ ALOT OF FORUMS AND BLOGS AND OTHERS ARE HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES THAT I AM HAVING.
