THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE FAILURES DESCRIBED IN THE MASTER CYLINDER PISTONS RECALL 89V223000. IN ADDITION, THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON. ALSO, THE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE DESCRIBED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL 96V071000 BUT THIS VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK

VEHICLE STARTED ON FIRE WHILE MY WIFE WAS SHOPPING IN A TOY STORE. STRANGE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED TO TOWNE FORD ORCHARD PARK NY 3 DAYS PRIOR. THEY SAID PROBLEMS WERE NOT RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL
CONSUMER INSERTED THE KEY INTO IGNITION AND SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE SWITCH. CONSUMER TURNED IGNITION OFF, AND NO FIRE WAS STARTED. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
PARKED FOR 12 HOURS PRIOR TO FIRE AT 3:50 AM.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED POSSIBLE RECALL COMPONENT FAILURE PRIOR TO NOTICE WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE FIRE (96V-071). MJS
REPAIRS DONE UNDER RECALL #96V071000 & NOW PROBLEM OF FIRE HAS OCCURRED. BELIEVES THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED WITH A FAULTY PART. NO CHARGE GOING THROUGH EVEN WITH IGNITION OFF. THE BATTERY WOULD ALWAYS RUN DOWN.

VAN JUST DIED OUT. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN STARTED TO FILL WITH SMOKE AND FIRE AND BURSTED INTO FLAMES. FIRE BELIEVED TO HAVE STARTED IN THE ENGINE. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. VAN HAD OVER $5,000.00 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE VAN HAS BEEN TOTALLED. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT FIRE WAS CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. *AK *TT
REGARDING THE ALTERNATOR/REGULATOR FIRES, CONSUMER BELIEVES THE SOURCE OF IGNITION IS THE ALTERNATOR/WIRING HARNESS CONNECTION INTERFACE DUE TO A HIGH RESISTANCE CONNECTION.
THE DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS THAT CONNECTS TO ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT, RESULTING IN A FIRE. CURRENTLY AT A DEALER. *AK *SLC

ELECTRICAL FIRE STARTED IN VEHICLE. CONSUMER AND FAMILY WAS TRAPPED IN VEHICLE DUE TO RODS THAT CONNECT TO DOOR HANDLE BECAME INOPERATIVE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE IGNITION EXPERIENCED A SHORT CIRCUIT, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS SENT AN INVESTIGATOR OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. *AK

SO THE FIRE WAS PROBABLY NOT CAUSED BY THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT SOMETHING ELSE--PERHAPS THE ALTERNATOR. *YD
ELECTRICAL: DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55MPH , WAS EXITING OFF THE INTERSTATE AND BEGAN TO SMELL SMOKE. ARRIVED AT WORK AND PARKED THE VAN AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE SIDES OF THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIRE INSPECTOR SAID THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE ALTERNATOR. *AK

THE ALTERNATOR FAILED, MELTED THE WIRING AND AIR CONDITIONER HOUSING.
OWNER STATES WHILE PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY HE NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, SMELLED GAS AS WELL AS ELECTRICAL WIRES BURNING.OWNER IS UNCERTAIN ON WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. *AK
3 WEEKS AFTER IGNITION SWITCH RECALL CAMPAIGN WAS DONE BY DEALER, PARKED 1-2 HOURS, UPON RETURNING FOUND INTERIOR ON FIRE, INSURANCE CO. INDICATED THAT FIRE ORIGINATED AT IGNITION SWITCH, NEAR STEERING COLUMN, VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. *AK
