I HAD MY STARTER REPLACED BREAKS AND RELAY AND IT STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I CANNOT EVEN TURN ON MY HEADLIGHTS
I OWNED A 1991 FORD AEROSTAR WHICH BURST INTO FLAMES AND WAS DESTROYED. I HAVE BEEN BOUNCED AROUND TRYING TO GET SATISFACTIONS BUT SINCE THERE WAS AN ONGOING CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY COMPENSATION. THE CONSUMERS WIFE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER, RAN TO CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, BUT BY THE TIME HE RETURNED THE VEHICLE WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THIS VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR 20 MINUTES WHEN A STRONG ODOR OF PLASTIC BURNING WAS SMELLED. THIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN WHITE SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. A FEW SECONDS PASSED WHEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS TOTALLY INVOLVED. THIS VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK

STARTER FAILED BURNING THE STARTER AND THE BATTERY.
DUE TO FAULTY WIRING IN THE IGNITION SWITCH THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. ALSO, THE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE, WHILE PARKED, STARTED WITHOUT MANUAL OPERATION. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
96V071000; CONSUMER STATES THAT FORD REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. THEN 16 MONTHS LATER, DRIVING TO A FRIENDS HOUSE, PARKED THE VEHICLE AND IT CUT OFF, AND THE VAN WAS SMOKING. FLAMES WERE VISIBLE UNDER THE HOOD, VEHICLE BURNED FOR 5 TO 10 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRE COULD BE PUT OUT. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO CUT CABLES FROM THE BATTERY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM REIGNITING, INSURANCE COMPANY IS DOING AN INVESTIGATION. FORD STATES THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PARTS THAT WERE PUT IN, AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
A SHORTAGE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAUSED A VEHICLE FIRE. *AK
THE KEY DOES NOT LINE UP CORRECTLY IN THE IGNITION WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE ORIGINAL SWITCH BURNED IN AUGUST OF 96 AND WAS REPLACED. THIS TOOK PLACE BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE PROBLEM. (96V-071). *AK

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR A MILE THE VAN CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. HAS NOT BEEN SEEN BY ANYONE AS OF YET. *AK
ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE, CAUSED BY SHORT IN ALTERNATOR WIRING HARNESS, VEHICLE TOTALED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DASHBOARD. LOOKED IN THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A FIRE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DASHBOARD. DOES NOT REMEMBER IF RECALL NOTICE WASRECEIVED. BUT THERE WAS A RECALL LISTED ON VEICHLE 96V- 071 000.
CONSUMER WAS PARKED AND VEHICLE'S ENGINE RUNNING FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES BEFORE NOTICED SMOKE IN THE HOOD AREA OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER THAN CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. *AK
WHILE PARKED AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE WIRING CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD . CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EQUIPED NEITHER WITH REMOTE START NOR WITH ALARM. *YH

IGNITION SWITCH KEY CAN BE REMOVED WHEN TRANSMISSION IS IN DRIVE POSITION, NOT CHECKED BY DEALER. *AK CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE WILL ROLL, UNLESS PARKING BRAKE IS APPLIED POWER STEERING AND BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY.*JB
VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION FOR 15 TO 20 MIN WHEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE IGNITION SWITCH. CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL WAS CORRECTED. FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THE FIRE AS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.*AK CONSUMER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF REMOVED THE KEY WHICH MEANT THE GEAR SHIFTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN LOCKED IN PARK. THE CONSUMER SON MOVED THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND IT ROLLED INTO OTHER VEHICLE.
