The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, there was a loud scraping sound coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle jerked abnormally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the failure was associated with the torque converter. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.

My Check Engine Light came on today. I went to Advance Auto Parts and had them check the code (P0171). I took my vehicle to University Ford in Huntington and expressed concern that my fuel injector may cause a fire and I am not comfortable driving the car. They could not diagnose my car or loan me a safe vehicle. They sent me away in an unsafe vehicle. I am to bring the car back in the morning at 8am. I believe this problem is due to the open recall. I also believe all of the damaged parts that my car came with have depreciated the value of my car. I’ve driven Fords exclusively for 20 years. I’ve never had a Ford like this Bronco. Nothing but a nightmare. Tomorrow I hope the dealership fixes my problem or loans me a safe vehicle to pick my grandsons up from school in. Thank you.

The contact's son owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. While the contact's son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver heard an abnormal grinding sound coming from the rear differential. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed vent tube and water intrusion. The contact was informed that the water intrusion damaged the clutch and gears. The contact was informed that the rear differential and vent tube needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was provided a discount on the cost of the part. In addition, the contact was informed that the failure was a known failure with the model vehicle; however, a recall had not been initiated. The failure mileage was approximately 81,421.

While driving my 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, I experienced a strong chemical/fume smell entering the cabin, which caused headache and nausea. I later found that the battery installed in the vehicle had vent holes with visible liquid residue indicating leakage. I did not authorize or install this battery — it appears the battery was changed without my knowledge while the vehicle was in a lender’s possession. This created a serious safety concern because the fumes entered the HVAC system and the vehicle became unsafe to operate. I had the vehicle towed to two separate Ford dealerships. Both refused to inspect the HVAC system or provide a proper safety diagnosis. One dealer admitted the battery had “traces of leaking fluid,” but no diagnostic inspection was performed, and they attempted to close the repair order without documenting the safety concern. I was forced to replace the battery out of pocket just to safely drive the vehicle, but the original leaking battery and the exposure incident should still be investigated. My safety was put at risk, and the dealerships refused proper inspection or remediation.

We purchased this vehicle 02/2025. The salesman stated there was a 5 point inspection and the car was good on fluids oil and brakes. We questioned the rough idle and odd sound the car made and we were told that it was normal. 07/2025 a mobile mechanic came out and repaired a recall. He stated in his notes that the car had an oil leak but he could not determine where. Fast forward to now, my car has been needing oil more than usual since we have got the car. There is a leak but it does not leak on the ground. 11/11/2025, I contacted Big Valley Ford in Stockton CA with concerns about the oil depleting rapidly and how my check engine light comes on which tells me my car has absolutely no oil. I mentioned a recall I saw online 22S21 and Greg (the man I spoke with) stated that was never a recall for my car. He saw the oil separator was replaced in 2022 but it was not for a recall. Greg then told me to make an appointment to bring the car in for a diagnostic and then an oil change. They would then mark my car where the oil is and have me come back in a few days to see how far the oil went down. I asked how much and he said 225 for the diagnostic and 135 for the oil change. Convinced he was lying to me, I called Ford in Tracy, CA and they confirmed there was a recall 22S21 for the oil separator. This car has given me so many problems and this issue clearly was never fixed and they sold me the car this way.

In 2024, we had our battery replaced in our 2021 Bronco Sport by the Ford certified dealer in response to Recall Number 24S24. We did not have any issues with the previous battery. They replaced the original battery with the AGM battery, which they represented would prevent the issues that necessitated the recall - catastrophic degradation of the battery and complete loss of drive power. In mid-October 2025, my wife experienced unexpected and complete loss of drive power when exiting the interstate in the car, and was stuck in the freeway exit lane as oncoming traffic was exiting at high speeds with minimal time to avoid the stalled car. It was a dangerous situation and the car was almost struck numerous times. No warnings or messages appeared - even the hazards did not work. After about 20 minutes, we were finally able to obtain assistance from a police officer and had the car towed to a Firestone a few blocks away. Firestone confirmed that the AGM battery had failed which caused the complete loss of drive power. They replaced the battery and reprogrammed the car as best they could, but the failure of the battery also destroyed a few computer chips that needed to be replaced by Ford in order to fully reprogram it. We took it to the Ford dealership that initially replaced the battery (10 miles away) the next day, and Ford refused to refund us the costs for towing the car and replacing the battery at the Firestone, claiming our situation did not constitute an "emergency" since we could have had it towed 10 miles to the Ford dealer rather than a few blocks to the Firestone. As we did not know what was wrong with the car, we reasonably chose the Firestone as the best option, since it was only a few blocks away. Ford replaced the computer chips under the recall, but we have still paid over $600 out of pocket due to this incident that Ford refuses to pay us. The Ford dealership also took the battery when we requested the refund, and has not returned to us the battery.

I took my vehicle into my local ford dealership to get three active recalls remedied. Within 24 hours, my check engine light reappeared as well as "service engine soon" on my way into work. Upon leaving work, the dash lights were gone. They would come and go periodically. After about a week, it would pop up "service engine soon" and within ten minutes, regardless of speed, the RPMs would fly all the way up and the vehicle would act as if I took my foot off of the gas, almost immediately stopping on the highway. I would have to almost immediately pull off of the road and my vehicle would stall, flashing "shift system failure" as well as failing to let me put the vehicle into park or any other gear. Taking it into the shop, they told me that was due to a software bug WHICH THEY JUST "FIXED" with a recall update. They also proceeded to tell me there is metal debris in my oil and I need my transmission rebuilt, quoting me $13,000.

On 7/22/2025 Luther Ford, When asked to drive the vehicle into the service area, the car would not go in to drive. It would not move at all. The service advisor stated we need to have the transmission taken out and taken apart to see what the issue is. He said that the transmission was needing to be replaced, and with the transmission, it is mostly because of an issue with the motor as well, but this cannot be diagnosed until the transmission issue is corrected. The vehicle is still at Luther Ford in Fargo waiting on repair. Ford offered limited financial assistance for this. With myself still owing $5758.38. There have been multiple times that I have requested the dealership drive the vehicle because of the vehicle shifting hard or cutting out when stepping on the gas. On 3/3/2023 20,991 miles I had taken the vehicle in to RM Stoudt in Jamestown, ND because the car was shifting hard, and was cutting out while in low gear/speeds. I do have documentation of this. Nothing was done at this time by the dealership. 10/3/2024 46,277 miles I had the bronco into Devils Lake Cars for an issue with the CV Shaft and warranty work. I also asked them to drive the vehicle because it is STILL not driving correctly and is not shifting correctly and wanted it to be corrected before warranty was up. Nothing was done at the dealership. Before 60,000 I called Devils Lake Cars. I stated that the vehicle is still having issues. I was not going to be able to get to the dealership as I live in a remote area, until after it goes over the 5/27/25 62,354 miles I finally got an appointment and the vehicle in at Devils Lake Cars, they documented thatthey drove the vehicle and there were NO issues. I requested the next time that we are in, that we ride with the service agent so we can prove the issues we are constantly having. 7/22/25 2500 miles later, the car is no longer able to even be put into drive and this brings us to the current situation and the transmission is needing to be replaced

My 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend 1.5L EcoBoost (VIN: [XXX] ) suffered a turbocharger failure due to oil leakage, which caused overheating and smoke from the engine bay. The vehicle became unsafe to drive due to loss of power and risk of fire from leaking oil near hot engine components. I’ve found numerous reports online of similar failures in other 2021–2022 Bronco Sport 1.5L models, suggesting a possible design or component defect. This issue poses a serious safety concern, as the engine can overheat or lose power suddenly while driving, increasing the risk of crash or fire. Please investigate this matter to determine if a recall or safety campaign should be initiated to address recurring turbocharger and oil leak failures in these vehicles. I own a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport that has had repeated premature failures of critical components. At ~52,000 miles the water pump failed and was replaced along with coolant and belts. Less than 21,000 miles later (at ~73,000 miles) the water pump has failed again, with coolant leakage and a burning coolant smell. Ford has issued TSB 23-2104 acknowledging coolant leaks at the water pump/hose connection, yet no recall or extended coverage has been offered. This is not the only issue. My alternator has also failed twice and required multiple replacements in under 4 years of ownership. Having two major components (water pump and alternator) fail repeatedly within such a short period clearly shows a systemic defect, not normal wear and tear. Safety risks: coolant leaks can drip or vaporize onto hot engine components, creating a fire hazard. Alternator failure risks sudden loss of power and stalling in traffic. Both are unacceptable in a vehicle this new. The dealership confirmed the latest water pump diagnosis and quoted over $1,000 in labor alone, placing an unreasonable financial burden on the owner. This is the second water pump and second alternator within 73,000 miles. Ford and its dealers know this is an ongoing issue in Bronco Sports, as confirmed by widespread owner reports and TSBs, but continue to deny responsibility. A recall or customer satisfaction program should be issued to address these repeated failures.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power, with several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that a software update was required; however, soon after the software update, the vehicle stalled while leaving the dealer. The contact was informed that the failure was attributed to the software update. The contact stated that 48 hours after the software update was performed, while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over, and the vehicle restarted after several attempts, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed; however, the contact was advised that further diagnostic tests were needed to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

Car was put into drive and wouldn’t go. It would finally go but Everytime the engine changed gears it dropped to 0 rpm’s making it very dangerous to drive!!! Lots of lights came on and my app sent me two things wrong with it. After having it checked the codes said it was a valve body issue. Replacing the transmission is $4000, and I’m not the first with this problem a friend of mine had the same issue a couple weekend before me.Had two mechanics one of which was from the dealership tell me this was happening a lot! It’s very dangerous especially when you have kids in the car like I did and are having to stop at red lights and such. There were no issues or lights to show warning of this happening either.

Transmission shudders at low speeds (around 25-40 mph) when accelerating. This happens when shifting around 2nd gear something’s between 2nd and 3rd. Many online forums report the same issue in similar model vehicles and year when vehicle is just outside of warranty period issue occurred out of nowhere and happens consistently.

My car is only 4 years old and is now in need of a brand new transmission. The power train lights are on, the emissions lights stay on, it shuts off after getting gas and won’t restart. I’ve been to the Ford dealer to fix “recalls” and was told there was no fix for it yet and that the noises I was hearing and the problems I was having was all fine and that there should be no long term issues with my car. Now, a few months later my car is back at the dealership in need of a whole new transmission. I am so sick of the issues and constant battles with this car and being told it’s fine and to wait for a call for the update to be ready. I am now out of a vehicle and I haven’t even owned it a year yet.

Since I have bought this used vehicle in September 2024, it has been shutting off completely with having to restart the engine. There was a recall for the battery in January 2025 that was finally approved to be replaced maybe in May or so. Battery was replaced but it keeps shutting off. I just took it in July 7 for the fuel pump to be replaced as they said that was the final cause. I drove it home the same day when it was finished and it has been shutting off still. It has shut off while I have been at the light, in reverse and as well as putting my vehicle into reverse by itself which could cause an accident. This situation has since be unresolved. I have taken it to the ford dealership with them many times with them saying there is nothing wrong with it.

Vehicle: 2021 Ford Bronco VIN: [XXX] Mileage: Approximately 88,000 miles Complaint: I am reporting major safety and drivability concerns with my 2021 Ford Bronco, which is currently undrivable and in the shop at Ron DuPrat Ford in Dixon, California. Despite experiencing issues nearly identical to those covered under existing recalls, my vehicle’s VIN is not currently included. While driving on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly malfunctioned. Without warning, it dropped into first gear at high speed, causing a rapid and unexpected deceleration. This could have easily resulted in a serious accident or even death — not only for my family but for others on the road. This is a major safety issue. After pulling off the road, the vehicle would no longer go into reverse and became completely undrivable. I also received multiple dashboard alerts, including: “An electrical fault has occurred with the transmission fluid pressure sensor circuit and its associated wiring.” “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” “A Powertrain or All Wheel Drive (AWD)/Four Wheel Drive (4WD) fault has been detected.” This is our main family vehicle, used daily for commuting and travel. I am still making payments on it, and the fact that it has become unsafe and unusable at this mileage is unacceptable. If this vehicle was not built for long-term use or daily driving, that should be clearly stated not discovered through dangerous failures like this. I no longer feel safe transporting my children in this car. I strongly urge the NHTSA to investigate whether the current recall coverage should be expanded to include additional VINs like mine. This appears to be a serious safety defect that poses a risk to drivers and passengers and requires immediate attention. The contact stated that later while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started jerking while changing gear. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The transmission was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle later experienced a failure while attempting to accelerate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer who diagnosed that the catalytic converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. The VIN was unavailable.

I have attached a letter that I mailed to Ford Consumer Affairs detailing the issues with this vehicle and asking them to repair the transmission. I received a response letter from them yesterday denying my claim. I am seeking advice on how I can proceed with Ford, if at all, to try to get them to fix this issue that was clearly caused by multiple recalls. I am not the only consumer reporting the exact same problem with this vehicle. Thank You, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I took my 21 Bronco Sport Big Bend in to have a different recall fixed and also have an oil change performed. I told the service technician that my coolant level was always low but I could not find any leaks under the vehicle. The service department called me and told me that there was coolant leaking into the cylinders of my engine and I needed the long block replaced. There was no indicator light for the low coolant or any type of engine light that would alert me of an issue. I eventually got a call that they had received parts for my engine replacement. The service technician told me that they are seeing a lot of Bronco Sports have this issue, but I never received a recall notice nor can I find an open recall online for this issue. I believe my family and I were put at risk due to this issue because of the potential for engine failure or damage.

Husbands Ford Bronco sport has had a constant smell of exhaust that fills the interior of the vehicle since purchased. Dealer said there was a “recall and fixed the problem”. It only lasted 2 days until it began again. My husband gets lightheaded and dizzy while driving and has to stop and roll his windows down. He almost passed out while driving home with our children. Dealership says “this is a common problem and Ford doesn’t have enough parts at the moment to fix it and it will be around 2-3 months until they do.” Also, the car has suddenly stopped while driving or won’t start back up. It has to sit for a day or so and then it will start. Tried replacing the battery and it didn’t work. We’ve had to leave it sitting in random parking lots several times.

The water pump has been replaced twice already and the water pump needs to be replaced again at 105,000 miles. This will be the fourth water pump this vehicle has. The originally came with, two replacements, and now the one that it needs because it is leaking like the previous three. The turbo charger failed and was burning oil. That was replaced. A month later it is back at the dealership being replaced again

I was unaware of any previous recalls before I purchased my Bronco Sport used. There is an active recall that has no remedy for the battery. I am actively having issues with my fuel system. It was inspected more than once. Diagnostics returned zero issues 3 times and no warning lights. I insisted further inspection this time which revealed bad purge valve, charcoal canister full of fuel, coolant leak resulting in water pump replacement needed. No warning lights. No codes, active or stored. Due to the absence of codes, they will not replace my fuel injectors per customer satisfaction program 22N18. Was not ever informed that recalls 22S73, 22S21, and 21C31 were either inspected or completed on my vehicle as it was not ever disclosed to me and the Ford website only state "scheduled maintenance" was performed. I still cannot obtain documentation of those previous service records so that I may be informed on what could have led to the current issues I am having with this vehicle. I have 3 kids I drive around and do not feel safe putting them in it anymore due to official documents issued by Ford that state my car could either lose power in the middle of driving it, or catch on fire due to a cracked fuel injector.

MY VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD AND HAVE HAD 6 RECALLS ! THIS IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK.

Feb 5, 2025

Driver was driving on the interstate. The car flashed several electrical system failure issues and notified that the alternator no longer functioned and that the system would then pull from the battery. The battery light came on and then flashed several warnings along with sounds. Driver was luckily able to exit the interstate and make it to a parking lot off before vehicle lost all power. Once parked and turned off, the accessories like radio and dashboard screen and lights were still functioning. The car would not start until we jumped it. Afterwards the car would not switch gears and then again flashed the electric system was experiencing failure. This and along with some whirring sounds from under the hood (what I could hear from driver seat), gave me enough reason to stop trying altogether to avoid further issues. After turning the car off, the dashboard flashed errors saying that features like electric braking, lane assist, and others were not available. Car was towed to dealership. Owners notified Ford dealership of recall # 24V267000 for the vehicle on 5/5/24. Dealership said it was not yet active recall (although issued by Ford on 4/11/2024), refused to pay for new battery and alternator needed (caused by the defunct battery- part of the recall). Owner paid out of pocket and was not reimbursed for replacement parts covered by the recall. The vehicle shutting off abruptly while driving at a high speed could have caused injuries or deaths.

Feb 5, 2025

Immediately after the driver started the car, many notifications popped up on the dashboard including: cross traffic system fault, service vehicle soon, full accessory power active, hill start assist not available, service AdvanceTrac, Engine Coolant Over Temperature, and Cross Traffic System Fault. The gauge showed fuel empty and other dashboard indicators were illuminated such as engine, battery, oil, seatbelt, airbag, faulty blindspot monitoring, and traction control. Driver took pictures of these notifications and indicators for documentation. Driver turned off the car and discovered recall # 25S02 for the vehicle. Owner recognized the notification explosion from similar experience on May 5, 2024 in reference to recall # 24V267000. In May 2024, the notification system showed all of the above alerts before the vehicle shut off and lost power. At this time, the vehicle was traveling at 60 mph on the interstate. Driver was fortunately able to exit and get to a parking lot before losing steering control. Vehicle would not restart, even with a jump. The vehicle was towed to dealer, however, dealer would not honor the issued recall as it was "not yet active". The dealer replaced the battery and alternator (deemed to caused by faulty battery included in recall) at expense to the driver. Driver was not reimbursed. The manufacturer was notified for May 2024 incident and again after February 4, 2025 incident. Vehicle was towed on 2/5/25 to dealer for service. Despite the active recall, there is "no current remedy" for the problem. Driver is expected to pay all costs (i.e., tow, service parts, rental car) to HOPEFULLY be reimbursed by the manufacturer once the recall solution is released. The fact that the same issue occurred with a second recall under a year is a huge inconvenience and safety risk. Current recall states, "vehicles in this recall were previously repaired under 24V-267 and will need to have the new remedy completed".

I bought a 2021 Bronco Sport Brand new and ever since the car has been a problem. The rear axle wasn’t getting enough lubricants so it was grinding and I didn’t know what it was at the time but I took it to a Ford dealership and was told after spending 200$ on diagnostic testing that absolutely nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle kept doing the same thing grinding noises so I took it in again and got the same results now mind you this is way before my power train was up. The car felt so unstable and unsafe it got to the point where I had to just leave it at the dealership until Ford could help me with some financial assistance. While at the dealership Ford told the mechanic to check the transmission and upon checking the transmission the mechanic found a problem. The total of repairs came up to over 10k for a vehicle that doesn’t even have 65k miles on it. I was sold a brand new lemon. This was my first new car purchase and it has literally been the worst experience in my life. The brakes were recalled the fuel injection system now the battery which I’ve already spent 500$ on a new one last year has guess what? Been recalled as of 1/17/2025. So after thousands of dollars in rental car and Uber rides which I have yet to be reimbursed for my vehicle is still at the Ford dealership has been there for over 3 months out of 10k in repairs Ford offered to pay only 4,100. What a rip off buying this junk was. I really thought Ford would do the right thing and take care of its customers but I was wrong dead wrong. Biggest mistake of my like.

The evaporative emissions system failure involving the purge valve and vapor canister purge valve is a recurrent issue on this car and has been reported by hundreds if not thousand of bronco sport owners. All recall for 1.5L and I am sure the badlands have the same parks and is not included in the recall. less than 60,00o mile with a check engine light on. The safety issue that arises from this is that we are emitting more fuel vapors into the atmosphere. Please add recall to cover Badland if they contain same parks as 1.5L!!!! Also the windshield wiper pump did not work. I can not clean the windshield wen needing to see out of it. i have to pull over and clean at local gas station.

This has been an ongoing issue since I purchased the vehicle in July 2024. It has become so bad that the vehicle is nearly un-driveable. FORD states it is a non-issue, non safety related and there is no know fix at this time. FORD has been buying vehicles back due to this "secret recall" but after numerous calls and visits to both dealers and the Ford customer care line, nothing is being done. And while FORD might state it is an "inconvenience", when driving on the highway and a cylinder just randomly shuts down, the vehicle loses power and backfires and vibrates it is a safety concern. I have been EXTREMELY patience and professional in all my dealings with FORD on this matter, yet they refuse to offer me any help or come to a resolution in my case.

The car has now on three separate occasions lost power while driving. As I slow down coming to stop or reducing speed car will completely lose power and then struggle to restart. Both occasions were on busy roads. Additionally, when you put fuel in the car it does not turn on right away it smells like fuel is burning and fumes enter into the cabin. When you push start after fueling it struggles to turn car on to drive. There is full accessory power but no power to drive the car even when giving it gas. It requires multiple attempts at starting the vehicle and it will tremble and shake once it starts running and stutters as if about to shut off even when you start driving it. Today it powered down again while driving and we avoided and accident but it is becoming dangerous to drive the vehicle due to its unpredictable shutting down.

The vehicle has been in the shop since day one with many many problems! The TURBO failed under warranty so they replaced it without doing proper procedures. A few months later the turbo failed again out of warranty but this time cracked the head causing damages I can not afford!! The vehicle is sitting at the dealership not fixed!! I want out of this lemon!!! I tried getting them to buy it back when I took it to the shop three different times due to break issues they could not fix but a Ford representative told me it "had too many miles" I work out of this vehicle and have not been able to work now for three months!! Note...after the first TURBO was replaced I told the dealership the vehicle was loosing antifreeze but all they did was pressure check the radiator. A few months later engine failure due to turbo failure!!

My daughter was operating the vehicle when it unexpectedly lost power and came to a stop without warning. The instrument panel began flashing, and she was unable to restart the vehicle to move it out of traffic. A jump-start was required to get the vehicle operational. It has been taken to Koons Ford Annapolis for evaluation. Vehicle mileage is aprox. 27,000

Dec 18, 2024 Fire

The car caught fire the morning of Dec 11, 2024 while the vehicle's owner was driving their children to school. There are photos and a fire report is being generated. The vehicle's owner and her children could have been killed. Early indications are that the fire was caused by the same faulty engine/exhaust system defect that the owner has been complaining to Ford about for years. It is assumed the fire report will confirm that. For the past two or more years the vehicle has been emitting exhaust fumes into the passenger compartment of the vehicle while driving. This has caused the vehicle's owner and her children to get sick and forced them to drive the vehicle with the windows down at all times even in cold weather. Ford's dealers have confirmed the problem several times, but either could not or refused to fix it. A summary of the vehicle's service history is included below: 35,662 miles Customer states inside of vehicle smells like exhaust. 37,431 miles Inside of vehicle smells like exhaust. 39,856 miles inside of vehicle smells like exhaust. confirmed customers concern found cat warped at mating surface to turbo replacement required. 46,832 miles Fumes getting inside the Cab, seems to be blowing in from vents. Misdiagnosed as blower motor electrical smell and missed broken catalyst. 47,300 miles Customer had car towed into shop stating car was shaking and smelled flumes inside the car. Verified concern that exhaust smell was present in car and loud noise was coming from engine, found catalytic converter had broken at flange to turbo causing exhaust leak. Recommend new catalytic converter, removed and replaced catalytic converter. Low pressure fuel injectors are leaking. Verified customer concern, found fuel seeping out of all 3 low side injectors, recommend injector replacement, remove and replaced all 3 low side fuel injectors, found no other leak at this time. Found injectors were leaking fuel. 47,829 miles Check engine light. Remove and replace purge valve.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started losing motive power. A message advising a power train failure was displayed. The driver was able to exit the highway at 15 MPH. The vehicle was driven to a nearby dealer, where the computer was rebooted; however, the failure recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times, and the transmission was rebuilt. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The contact stated while her husband was driving 70-80 MPH, the vehicle lost electrical power and stalled. The check engine and the power train warning lights were illuminated. The driver was able to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to restart but failed to exceed 15 MPH. The driver continued driving on the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair could not be covered due to the mileage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 1,310.

I drove the car 40, mils. on errons. had a after oil smell like a oil breather was disconnected. dealership nothing found. wife it smells bad in cabin of car. my truck went in for service, I took the bronco to work, had to have the windows rolled down. on the way home it was real bad. called Ford Moter company. was told to take to another dealer. called our dealer asked for the owner. not around asked for number 2 he was told him we were done. he said he would find the problem. he did the catalytic converter had a crack somewhere. I had to drive with the window down. I am a professional truck driver with over 3 million miles. what if this happened to a mom with kids in the dead of winter. the bronco will be picked up tomorrow after several complaints and several months. My 2021 Bronco Sport suddenly died on [XXX]. The parking brake engaged unexpectedly, locking all four brakes and resulting in a significant skid mark. An error message flashed: “Park Not Available. Apply Park Brake Before Exiting,” and the park gear light blinked. I turned off the engine again, but the car was dead when I tried to restart it. After getting a jump start, the car turned on. However, the parking brake engaged again shortly after. I was able to drive it off the road. My wife, a research librarian, found that many others have reported issues related to “Sudden Death Syndrome." See below. [XXX] [XXX] ). The car was towed from PA, where we were visiting, to Stanford Ford, where we purchased it on [XXX]. On 11/13, the dealership told us there was a short circuit in the wiring connected to the solenoid and estimated $900.00 for labor. At noon on 11/15, the technician was test-driving the car. By 4:17 PM, I was told it was ready. 5 min. later, they told me it wasn't ready due to another issue. At 11:15am on 11/18, we were informed the issue was a short circuit in the transmission, costing $13,000. How is that possible? The car is only three years old! We've faced many recalls with this car, the last just this past August, but the most dangerous issue is the unexpected engagement of the parking brakes, causing chaotic behavior. Given the number of similar incidents, it's hard to believe there hasn't been a recall. We could have been injured or even killed if we had been driving over 40 mh and driving in heavy traffic, or worse, on the highway. The evaporative emissions system failure involving the purge valve and vapor canister purge valve is a recurrent issue on this car and has been reported by hundreds if not thousand of bronco sport owners. The safety issue that arises from this is that we are emitting more fuel vapors into the atmosphere, not only does this not help with emissions control into the atmosphere, but it decreases fuel efficiency and increases gasoline smell into the vehicles cabin.

Currently at 30,000 miles. Water pump goes out every 10k miles, rear differential went out, front control arm and strut went out.

Sep 28, 2024

I've had 3 water pumps replaced first one was right before 36,000 miles, 2 were after the bumper to bumper warranty. Had the rear drive unit replaced for grinding, that was at about 28k miles, torque converter was also replaced at about 35k miles, oil leak from my camshaft carrier gasket, thermostat housing split, battery replaced after a year. This vehicle has been nothing but issue after issue. Each time low coolant, no heat in the vehicle. No warning lamps, nothing to tell me it was low.

Sep 22, 2024 Crash

Since the purchase of the Bronco Sport in 2021, I have intermittently taken it in for required service. However, there have been times when I have had to take it in for hearing noise coming from when I make turns, and it sounded like my break pads were making the sound of wear. A recent report did address the break pad concern, and they were replaced. Intuitively something told me to check my fluid levels and the engine air filter, along with the cabin air filter. They both needed replacing, which I did on my own. The mechanic who put on my break asked me questions about the Bronco, I explained to him that I was having issues with take off, and have had to take it in for recalls since make the purchase. He asked me to open the hood. What he found was oil leaking around was oil leaking around my turbo. I was shocked. Because it had not been long since it was serviced. I was told to not drive it too far because there were reports of some Broncos catching on fire. When I would take it in to Town AND Country Ford, where it was purchased, they would tell me that they could not find anything wrong repeatedly, supposedly one of the recalls was fixed. Yet, I still hear the noise when I make turns. Another Ford dealership around the corner from where I live and I decided to take it there to see if I could get different results. No help. They have changed my oil I hope. Then there is Bates Ford in Lebanon, Tennessee. I have taken it there for oil change and informed them of issues. This is the last dealership who inspected the Bronco. They did not tell me about the oil leak. I drive 10 miles to work weekly. 100 miles every other month to visit elderly relatives. So, I have not put too much wear and tear on the Bronco and do not drive it hard. Please, If you are able to help in this area, it is much appreciated. I have 54,000 miles on it

In 2021 i purchased a brand new Bronco Sport Big Bend with the hopes that it will last as long as the previous Bronco models. Unfortunately, 3 years later i took the vehicle to a Ford dealership, and to my surprise the transmission needs to be replaced. Being a vehicle that is regularly driven by my pregnant wife is an issue that Ford needs to be accountable for. There were no engine lights on, the only warning was a noise i noticed when driving the vehicle myself in the highway. I understand that transmission failed throughout the course of the years, but to a 3 year old Ford Bronco Sport is just ridiculous and not safe at all. The vehicle is currently at the dealership, Ford has agreed to pay 5k towards the replacement but i still have to come up with more than 7k to get it fix. If i knew i would be having Transmission issues so early in the life of the vehicle, i wouldn't have purchased a new car in the first place. This is definitely a safety hazard and i am sure this is not the only Bronco Sport with a torque converter being faulty, causing the transmission to slip.

I was exiting a store parking lot when my vehicle died and I lost the steering, hazard lights, ability to put it in neutral. It wouldn’t start, but the radio and air conditioning still was on. When I attempted to start everything would blink.

Aug 18, 2024 Fire

On 1/23/24, car was serviced for an electrical fault with the fuel pump control module which was confirmed via a vehicle alert. On 6/12/24, car was serviced for a software update recall. (I believe this was in relation to the fuel injector issue.) On 7/4/24, the car would not start but kept clicking trying to start. White smoke started coming out from under the hood. Panicked, we called the fire department and my niece's husband disconnected the battery so that the car would quit trying to start in an effort to mitigate a full fire. We could smell burning and fuel. The fire department even confirmed something smelled like it had burned but there was no active fire, so they told us to leave the battery disconnected and have it towed. I had the car towed to the dealership for $249. (Of which Ford only reimbursed me $140) My car sat for 2 weeks before Ford service confirmed the fuel injectors needed to be replaced as part of the 22N18 recall, but also said the battery was bad. Prior to this incident, I had 0 issues other than the issue in January. I had no notifications of battery issues in my app, no dimming of lights, etc. I had to pay over $300 to replace the battery so Ford could do "further testing" since I was a month out of the 36 month warranty. I picked up my car on 7/26/24 and when I started it in the bay, I smelled burning and even asked a different employee who confirmed he smelled it, and we were told by the manager that it was "old fuel burning off." He assured me the car was fine. I noticed my car being slow to start and having an odd issue whenever I turned, like a rubbing sound and it still had a burning smell even though I had to pay Ford to replace the cabin air filter. This was all new. Then, 8/18/24, my car again would not start, all the electrical lit up and the brakes were locked up. My car started smoking again under the hood as it kept trying to start. We could hear sounds like it was trying to start. Again, car is being towed to Ford.

Aug 12, 2024

While driving on the highway at 65 mph the vehicle completely shut off. All electrical components stopped working as well. After the recall was “fixed” it still randomly will not turn on. This car is a horrifying death trap and should be recalled completely, this is incredibly unacceptable for use and terrifying to drive. I was lucky there were no other cars around me at the time.

Jul 24, 2024

I recently had the recalls addressed (despite having any issues with the vehicle). Days later, I noticed my vehicle would occasionally not detect my key fob. Changed battery without resolution. On 6/27/24, I was driving in rush hour traffic, and stopped with the red light. When the light turned green, I went to drive, and the car shut itself down. Everything shut down. Couldn't even turn on my hazards. While waiting for a tow truck, I received a tip to use the key fob to push the start button, and that actually worked. I took it to Ford, and they returned it 12 days later with updated modules (they stated they couldn't diagnose the issue which is fascinating to me considering the nature of the recalls and all the information I am able to find online). 10 days after having it back, the vehicle hesitated to start and displayed a 4wd fault error. Contacted Ford immediately. The next morning, I started the car and the errors were gone, but I still wanted to get it checked out, so headed towards Ford. Stopped for gas on my way, but after filling up the tank, my car wouldn't start again. This time far worse than the first time, as something under the hood starting making a clanking noise, and smoke started coming out from under the hood, and smelled like electrical fire. The noise continued to get louder, and the smoke more violent. Finally cut the battery cable since the car was smoking, at the gas pump, on a busy Saturday, minutes before noon. Very scary situation, especially with kids in the car. We are OK. We are safe. But holy crap!

My 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has had its water pump replaced twice. Most recently, in April 2024. In June of 2024, that water pump also failed. My Ford dealer then discovered "catastrophic" damage to the turbo and engine, including a possible cracked engine as the result of the vehicle overheating because of the lack of coolant circulation. This obvious defect in the Ford water pump resulted in a serious safety risk and potential for the engine to completely overheat and catch fire, threatening the occupants inside.

June 2024, I received mail for safety recall notice re: 24S24/NHTSA 24V267. July 16, 2024, went to ford to have it fixed. Ford said everything works good. [XXX] @1450, Me and my son [XXX] old) drove to freeway in [XXX] and my car just suddenly stopped. No electrical power at all. Even the hazard lights doesnt work. Need to call 911 for safety. I was in the middle of the freeway for about 15 mins. Speed limit in the freeway is 65 miles/hr. I was so scared because I have my son with me and anytime somebody might hit our car. I had to call towing and sent to the livermore ford dealership. (Thats where i bought my car). My bronco sport will be paid off this november 2024, now im scared driving in the freeway especially i drove 40 miles one way, going to my work. What if it will happen again? Previous NHTSA ID Number. 11596944. Recall fix was run earlier this month. Car died at stoplight two days ago. Fix run again at dealership. Car died at red light again today. Was able to put car in park. Tried to restart. Multiple flashing warnings. Was able to get hazards on this time. Had car towed back to dealer. They are calling Ford. Second time this happened at busy intersection. This time at interstate on ramp. Bus driver attempting to turn got out of bud and offered to push the car but we could not get it in neutral. Tow driver had towed in a bronco sport right before us with the same issue. Someone is going to be seriously injured. Service guy showed me record of previous error messages. There were about twenty. I have a video of the screens flashing today.

Jun 25, 2024

Vehicle experienced complete shut down in the middle of the road while stopped at an intersection. Could not turn on hazard lights or put the car in neutral to move out of traffic. Car made a loud thumping noise when I attempted to restart. Vehicle was towed to dealership where I was initially told the battery just needed to be charged and it was ready to pick up. When I went to the dealership to retrieve my vehicle, it would not start and had the same error messages on screen and made the same loud thumping noise. Vehicle is currently still at the dealership and no answer as to when it will be fixed or what the issue is. Today is day 5 without my vehicle.

Jun 25, 2024

In March 0f 2024, while traveling down the highway at 65 mph, vehicle lost power suddenly, engine shut off, and loss of power steering with no warning, no check engine lights, no change in temperature to motor. Vehicle was towed to dealership in which they advised the engine was locked up and later determined the turbo had failed, likely leading to the engine failure. The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport only had 30,000 miles so it is apparent this motor and or turbo has some type of fault. Dealership did not cover under warranty as vehicle had branded title from front bumper damage that did not effect the engine.

Jun 23, 2024

I bought my Bronco back in January this year (2024) and everything worked great. Then fast forward the end of May (2024) and my car when I got in it and crunk it up told me my MyKey had been activated. I said what is a MyKey never heard of it before in my life. I did some Google searches and tried to figure out. Once I figured it and couldn't get it off of there myself I took it to a Ford dealership. They told me the MyKey had to have the admin key and they would have to cut one etc and then the labor all together would be 400 dollars. I was floored how did this even happen? Who put the MyKey on here? It restricts the speed which you can go, only allows the radio so high, and you have to be buckled for the radio to play its crazy. So I call the dealership which I bought it from, Hendrick, my car was used and had about 39k miles on it. They don't know about MyKey either they sell used cars, but their main cars are Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram. The used car guy said he would pay 200 for the key but not the labor that we had our car long enough it was time we took responsibility for it. Fast forward I reach out to Ford. The lady at Ford who said she was just a media specialist says oh just pay the money and keep the receipt. That if Ford does a recall in the future you will be reimbursed. I told her that this response was unsatisfactory as it creates a safety issue. I told her I was taking the car to Ford for recalls that needed to be fixed the next week and I would asked them how it got set. She didn't know how it got set either. The previous Ford dealership said he didn't know and that it could have been the previous owner but he couldn't confirm. So I went to the Ford dealership in Auburn this time to have the recall fixed and the lady at thr service center said yes the MyKey is only activated off the Ford app. My wife nor myself had the Ford app at the time this started which means the previous owner still had access to my key and set these limits. On May 25, 2024 at about 12:30 am, The vehicle suffered a classic recall 24V267000 unexpected and sudden complete loss of engine and electrical power in traffic, going into default park setting with parking brake. The vehicle could not be pushed out of traffic on a busy expressway feeder road at night. Police had to be dispatched to warn oncoming traffic of the stalled vehicle with intermittently working hazard lights. The vehicle had to be towed. Sames Ford McAllen preformed the recall reprogramming on May 31 and released to vehicle. On the first trip AFTER the BCM and PCM recall protocol had been performed the vehicle suffered the exact same failure in traffic on a busy street. The vehicle again was towed to Sames Ford, where it remains today. The recall protocol failed to remedy to serious and dangerous defect.

While idling stopped at a red light the engine suddenly shut down/stalled and the electrical system simultaneously went haywire. Specifically the dashboard alert system rapidly cycled through/flashed warning alerts for the forward collision system, then “out of fuel” then a failure with the antilock brake system. At the same time the computer touch screen went black and indicated “system restart.” The dash alerts kept cycling through the same alerts mentioned above and wouldn’t stop. I tried three different times to restart the vehicle without success. Stranded on a busy roadway, two different vehicles behind us had to take evasive action to avoid hitting us from the rear. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who has called back to say the engine starts fine now. They will conduct further diagnosis.

On Saturday, [XXX], my 2021 Ford Bronco Sport with approx. 33,900 miles completely shutdown and lost all power to engine and accessories while driving the vehicle in traffic. It started making a ticking sound that could not be stopped, it could not be restarted, and no accessories to include hazard lights could be turned on. I had to call the police, as my daughter and I were in the middle of traffic and cars were honking at us and I could not move the vehicle nor signal that it had died. The police arrived and since I was blocking traffic they are required to initiate a tow (which I had to pay $150 for), since they will not risk waiting hours for individual roadside assistance to arrive. The car has been towed to Ourisman Ford in Alexandria, VA, where it still presently remains as their only solution was to recommend battery replacement. There was NO warning prior to losing all power while stopped at a traffic light. I easily could have been hit while I waited for the police to arrive without any way to signal to other drivers that my car was immobilized. Ford continues to be of little assistance. My son and I slowed at a light to turn right. The vehicle completely shut down in traffic. We couldn’t put the car in neutral. We couldn’t turn the hazard lights on and couldn’t jump the vehicle. Luckily we were going slow traveling approx 10-15mph. Our emergency jump machine eventually worked after about 10 minutes, but the console screen remained blank and we drove straight to the dealer, but on Saturdays they don’t have any actual maintenance. The only thing they said they can do is test the battery. After a search on the internet, this has happened to lots of people. Some 2021 Ford Bronco Sports have been recalled, but mine isn’t listed. My question to Ford is, if this is a known issue why are they risking people’s lives? Again luckily we weren’t on the highway or even busier traffic.

Apr 11, 2024

I had driven for about 30 minutes, without turning the car off, I had just picked my fiancé up at the train and was slowing down for a stop sign. The car just stopped completely the lights flashed and powered down and I couldn’t do anything with the drive shift or even get the flashers on. Luckily we were coming to a stop anyway, but for majority of the time I was without flashers lights or anything and it was getting dark. We are in Virginia working and are usually traveling the interstate at the time but happened to do separate modes. I don’t know what could have happened had I been going 70 on the highway at night. I keep trying to start the car and was eventually able to put it in park but wasn’t able to get it into neutral or anything else. After multiple start attempts I am able to get the flashers on but as I keep trying to start it was turning the flashers off. I called for assistance through the ford app and they said it would be 2 hours before someone could come. We were able to get a jump and it came back on and when it did every single warning light was on for a moment and it went back to normal and our friend followed us over to the dealer to drop off. Before this while driving I had no errors and my app said my status was green. I had no notifications of issues from the ford app or my vehicle. Right as it was shutting down it did show a ac warning of some sort. Otherwise no errors. It is currently at a ford dealer and I am waiting to hear back with what they say.

As I was driving with my wife on our way back home, my vehicle flashed every warning light, and my dashboard went dark. I was going about 40–45 mph, the engine was still running, and we made it home, which was only less than 2 miles from my house. As I was driving on my way home, the media console had this message: "vehicle network communication error," but once home, I could not get the SUV to shift into park, and it suddenly shut off on it's own. My 2021 Bronco Sport is still under Ford's manufacturer warranty. I requested a tow from the Ford app to have it delivered to Hacienda Ford Service of Edinburg, Texas, and a payment of $201.09 was required to dispatch a tow service. A couple of days later, I got a call that my SUV was ready, the battery might of been in a low state of charge, and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The dealership service manager claimed on the phone to have never heard of a "vehicle network communication error." I even took pictures of the error message on my phone, but the dealership had no desire to even take a look at the video or pictures of the vehicle network communication error message. If it happens again, at least I know how to temporarily fix the vehicle's malfunction. The tow truck driver disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and was able to get the vehicle to start and shift it back to park. So I ended up paying $201.09 to have the privilege for Hacienda Ford Service to tell me my battery might of been at a low state of charge while I was driving.

On February 5, 2024, the engine of a Bronco Sport shut off while driving and the dashboard lights began flashing with multiple warnings and notifications. The car would not restart and the gear shift was locked, preventing the driver from moving the vehicle out of the road during rush hour traffic. A tow truck was called, but after 30 minutes, the driver was able to restart the car and canceled the tow truck. The car was taken to the dealership on February 6, 2024, but the cause of the incident has not been diagnosed. On February 4, 2024, the driver attempted to start the engine, but the dashboard lights began flashing with multiple warnings and notifications and the engine would not start. The driver called a tow service, who jump-started the battery and informed the driver that the battery was not completely dead. The driver also discovered that the power steering had failed. The car was taken to the dealership on February 5, 2024, where it was diagnosed as a battery cable issue. The cable was replaced and the power steering was fixed. Dealership indicated that two repairs were unrelated. On December 8, 2023, the driver drove the car approximately 20 miles home, but upon exiting the car, the dashboard lights began flashing with multiple warnings and notifications and the engine would not start. The driver had to disconnect the battery cables to turn the car off completely. The driver called a tow service on December 9, 2023, who advised trying to jump-start the car. After charging the battery for 30 minutes, the car started and stopped without issue. On July 6, 2023, the customer noticed that the car was slow to start and received a warning on the dash indicating a "powertrain malfunction." The car was taken to the dealership on July 7, 2023, where it was diagnosed as having a faulty battery, which was replaced.

Vehicle was taken in begore warranty expired for losing power and shutting down on road went to san tan ford they said it was a month out come back. I said this is a safety issue and got it in for service in scottsdale while still under warranty like 50k. They said nothing was wrong with it did something because it didnt stop on road until sat [XXX] white smoke started pouring out back and i was able to start it and get it into a parking lot. I called to get it towed they said that my powertrain warranty expires at 60k and im at 63k. Had it towed to san tan ford to see what the problem was and they stated the engine is no good. I need a new engine. I owe 33k purchased it new in october 2021. San tan ford is reaching out to ford to see what it will cover but they said probably only 50%. This is crazy that i have to purchase a new engine when ford was aware of these issues that placed me un danger. What can I do? Please help. Slowing down at a red light, getting into a left hand turning lane there was a "thud" sound and then the car completely shut off. Nothing worked, screens went blank, no hazards, no lights. We were stuck in the middle of the road with no way to even get the car out of the way. Every once in a while the green would come on or an alarm would go off but quickly went back to black. Tow truck was able to jump it to get it on the truck but half way through the ride the engine died once more. There was no warning at all. If this would have happened on the highway, it would have been catastrophic. After learning about this happening to others and hearing that it may happen again, I will not feel safe in this car moving forward: car is a 2021 Bronco Sport, 52,000 miles. Please do something!!!

Dec 15, 2023

Vehicle experienced catastrophic power failure while I was driving. Without warning, the vehicle shut down completely. The engine stopped, the brakes engaged, the dash went black. There was no way to communicate with the vehicle -- no way to engage emergency flashers or even to push it to the side of the road (because the brakes were locked). There was a loud "pulse" sound coming through the speakers -- "thump. . .thump. . .thump. . ." which continued for 5 - 10 minutes. A police officer who stopped to assist noted the rear tail lights were strobing. The "P" on the transmission shifter flashed continually. Over the next 30 minutes, the infotainment screen rebooted twice, but went to black within seconds. The instrument panel rebooted once, but also went black after a few seconds. The car was towed to Kings Ford in Mason/Deerfield Township OH. The service tech reported the only issue was a dead battery which he replaced. That issue has not reoccurred in my Bronco Sport. On the Bronco Sport Forum, [XXX] reported an identical event in Feb. 2023 happened to her vehicle. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Car stopped while driving. Couldn’t get the car into neutral to move it out of the road. Would not crank. Leaking oil.

Nov 27, 2023

Vehicle started missing at 30-40mph. No lights were on but I took it to the dealership and they determined a new transmission was needed at a cost of $6464.33 plus tax. They indicated it was a known issue but no recall had been issued so I was responsible for the cost. I checked around at other transmission shops and they also said they had been seeing those issues. I looked online and online forums don’t even recommend OEM parts because they will fail.

Oct 25, 2023

I was on my way to work and as I approached a 4-way intersection, the auto-stop feature on the vehicle shut the engine off. The vehicle's instrument panel started blinking then went completely black. The vehicle became completely disabled... the hazard lights were only functioning intermittently. I tried to re-start the vehicle without success and was not able to shift to neutral. The vehicle was in the middle of the road, so I called a tow to carry it to the dealership. The dealership was able to replicate the issue and blamed it on a 'dead-cell' battery. The dealership even said that the vehicle did the same thing to them once their booster pack was removed, so a simple jump from another vehicle would not have temporarily solved the issue. Before the incident, the vehicle gave absolutely NO warning or indication that the battery levels were low. I cannot believe that with all of the modern vehicle technology available, Ford did not develop a 'low-battery' warning light for their vehicles. I expect Ford to pay for every tow needed in the future due to a dead battery that completely disables the vehicle in the middle of the street.

Engine alternator failed at approximately 50,000 miles. The bearing failed and the pulley ultimately sheared off. We own 5 of these vehicles and 3 of the 5 have had this issue. The water pump also failed.

Oct 10, 2023 Fire

My 2021 Bronco failed our family on Friday. The Bronco failed to start upon pressing the start and brake pedal. The main console panel started flashing then cycling through all kinds of failure alerts. There was a series loud noises from the engine, the headlights flashed off and on for over 3 minutes and then the engine started smoking. The doors would not open and we were stuck inside while the engine was smoking. That smoke came through the air vents as well. Finally, I was able to get my door open though couldn’t open my son’s rear passenger side door from the outside. He was stuck inside for what seemed like forever. He was able to open it finally and I carried him inside. My son’s legs are paralyzed and he does not walk. My main concern was getting him to a safe place as I was scared to death that the engine was going to explode in that moment. The engine smoke started to ease up however the electrical burning smell was overwhelming. This all took place in my garage. The trunk would not unlock and my key fob would not engage with the vehicle at all during this time. The trunk hatch lock finally disengaged and I was finally able to get his wheelchair out. Everything failed. I could not get the Bronco into neutral at any point. The Bronco is currently at my local Ford dealer where I was told I have to wait a week before it can even be looked at. I was told "it's just the battery...." There is NO way my experience was "just the battery." As of 10/10/2023 no one from corporate or the dealer has reached out to me. Once I got to the dealer (Jarret Gordon Ford Davenport), they were so dismissive of me. The service advisor never even asked if my son or myself were OK.

Bought 2021 bronco sport in Dec 21. Since my engine has stuttered and started to die. The panel starts falling as if it is sitting off. This is not the auto engine shut off while idling at a light issue. Upon starting the engine you can hear a ticking and on every certain revelation the vehicle will sputter and start to cut off. It has died on 2 occasions in my driveway, but not yet on the road. It will stutter and start to die almost always in idle, especially in park, but it will do it and stay losing power mainly while driving low speeds or when not pressing gas pedal. I received recall and was told part was not available and didn't know when it would be available and have never been told part was available, but miraculously my recall order was closed without parts ever being replaced. This is like mist of the 8 recalls on this vehicle. 6 recalls where made before the vehicle came off of the train car. 6 recalls were still active the night I drove off the lot AFTER SERVICE WAS CLOSED. My first service was flat spots in my tires from sitting in a train car in Florida heat for 3 months, no parts were replaced, feb and March of last year the recall was closed before my car was in the shop... My dealership is clearing recalls and not reels my vehicle. They are taking advantage of my mental disabilities.

There is an oil leak in a new car?!

Sep 13, 2023 Fire

When trying to start the vehicle, it would not crank. Instead, all dash indicator lights, interior lights, and exterior lights began flashing. Numerous random error messages began flashing on the dashboard screen. Then a large plume of smoke began coming out from under the hood and there was an acrid burning smell. No flames were visible so the fire department would not respond when called and advised to have it towed. After much difficulty loading onto a tow truck (the parking brake would not disengage--dash indicated a parking brake fault as one of the many errors--so it had to be dragged onto the flatbed tow truck) the vehicle was towed to the local dealership in Dothan, AL. Per the dealership, there was an underhood fire involving the starter and battery. We are unable to inspect the damaged components. They stated they are unable to remedy the smoke smell that has permeated the vehicle despite the disabling lung conditions of one of our family members. We have tried numerous times over the last 9 months to get the dealership to perform service required by NHTSA Recall # 22V859, but they keep stating the parts are unavailable. They will not say whether this underhood fire is directly related to the recall already in effect.

Aug 16, 2023

I currently am at 14,000 miles on my2021 Bronco Sport. I have had no issues prior to what happened to me on August 9th. While I was at a light my car went completely black with no warning and I was not able to put on hazard lights or put it in neutral to get off the busy highway. I had to call 911 as cars were zipping up close to mine and I was only able to wave my arms to get them to see my car was unoccupied. I was screamed at, honked at all while frantic trying to explain to the 911 operator that I needed a deputy to come and put his lights on behind my car to prevent an accident. My car sat in the middle of the highway with no warning lights on until a tow truck arrived. We then found out there is a way to release the gear and put it into neutral so we could push it to the side of the road. The car was towed to the house where I then had to have another tow truck come get it and tow it to the dealership where i was already waiting for a part. (Differential) At this point it has now been 8 days and i have no updates on what actually happened to my car but in my discovery I have read that this is a more common occurrence than not. Just while waiting in the Enterprise waiting room, waiting for my rental I met a girl with the same exact issue. How many others is this happening to and when will Ford recall this model car before someone is killed? I want answers and want to make sure when they say my car is fixed that it truly is fixed. I am scared to death to drive it now that I even have purchased road flares so I am ready for the next break down, because I truly believe it will happen again.

On 2 occasions, 7/30/23 and 8/13/23, my 2021 Bronco suddenly stopped working with no warning whatsoever. I had no way to put on any Emergency Flashers because there was no power. The same day as the first incident, the car was brought to my local Ford Dealer and they couldn't find any problem. When they inspected it the next morning, it started right up.I had been driving the car for 2 weeks and it happened while I was driving again on 8/13/23. It died the exact same way, with no warning and no way for me to alert other drivers around me. My vehicle is currently at the Ford Service Department and they are trying to find the problem.

I was driving down a city street in Sacramento and the car just suddenly stopped- engine and everything was off. I could not get the car to turn back on. Emergency lights would not come on, it was if the entire electrical system was out. I was in the middle of the road, so needed to put hazards on to warn others and I could not. Cops came to place flares to warn other drivers after 35 minutes. No warning codes or anything to let me know what was happening. Having car towed. 10 minutes before tow truck arrived, vehicle started, so I was able to move it to a safer place. But the car was inoperable for about an hour and a half.

While driving on the interstate at 65-70mph, my Bronco Sport lost all acceleration randomly. The engine would rev, but there was no acceleration. I had no indication of errors (no engine light, etc.) Before this happened, I was using the adaptive cruise control. I had to pull over and power cycle the vehicle to fix the issue. This was while traffic was busy with cars flying by me. I have not taken it to a dealership or had it diagnosed yet, but this shouldn't be something that happens anyways. Not only was this scary, it was a huge safety risk as it could have caused a wreck.

This morning I was driving to work going approximately 45 mph and the engine in my 2021 Ford Bronco shut off/stalled. Thank GOD there was no one behind me at that time. The dash board lit up and a message appeared saying "put the car in park and restart the engine" There was nothing touched on the car... not the gear shift... nothing to cause the car to shut off. I will contact the Dealership asap but what also concerns me is that fact that I have been trying to get a separate issue resolved regarding a recall. The dealer ship is still trying to get the part to remedy the recall but I dont think the two issues are related.

Catastrophic engine failure

Feb 8, 2023

2nd time in a month this car has shut off completely while in motion. Both times in an intersection. No power to even turn on hazards to let traffic know I was stuck. Finally gets some power and hazards are able to come on but they are faulty and glitch, do not stay consistently on. Ford had no answers for me a month ago and just sent me home.

Feb 7, 2023

This car has had so many recalls on it and it does not stop. Gibbons Ford does not have windshield wiper clips; there is constant recalls on this car. What are my options?

Jan 17, 2023

this has happened twice to me. First time, I was driving around a roundabout - and the engine kicked off and there were a lot of alerts across the screen. I was safely able to coast off the road and onto the side where I sat for a little bit trying to restart it. After pushing the start button several times - it started back up and I was on my way. Most recently, last week - I was driving on the highway and the engine died and so many alerts were going across the screen. I couldn't pay much attention to the errors because a semi almost rammed my back end. I was on an incline on an off ramp and was trying to coast to the side as much as I could. It was too scary to monitor what was happening on the screen. I sat there trying to restart the Bronco and after several tries - it started back up and I was able to drive away. The Bronco is at the Dealership right now for them to look it over. No warning messages or anything - the engine shut down and then the alerts started. It appeared to be like every alert that could come up. There were so many. I also have the squealing and loud brakes. On back up .... they scream bloody murder. It is so embarrassing.

Per Master Tech Bo at CamelBack Ford in Phoenix, AZ - He stated he had a 2021 Bronco Sport in his shop for 3 months with the same issue mine has had now 3 times and mine has been "Repaired" twice. He could not find out why the vehicle was stalling/losing power while in motion. I proceeded to look for an answer and had asked if that Bronco Sport he is referring to is still in his shop.. his answer was no. I asked then what was the issue, his response was a failing Guide-Pin in the transmission not being an exact sit in the fitting position. I had my vehicle towed to Chapman Ford of Scottsdale, AZ for the 3rd time. They started a Inspection/Diagnoses on my vehicle without knowing at all why my vehicle was towed in. Then proceeded to not listen to my request of inspecting the transmission assembly and denied service to my ensure if my family is (ASAP) - as safe as possible - in this vehicle and stated "It is SUPPOSEDLY drivable" (Recorded Line). They said my vehicle "Stalled" and did not lose power (like they were there when I was moving 20 MPH) because of the fuel level! They reported (Recorded Line) vehicle was brought in with ESTIMATED 26 Miles like this is a non-sufficient amount of fuel. ** Let me be the first to say the estimate is not an estimate I have gotten this car down to the 10 Miles left warning indicator message and felt no problems regarding to a low fuel amount. Traveling with cruise control set at 78mph. Service engine light came on without warning and vehicle couldn’t maintain speed. Exited highway to determine what was wrong. Pulled into gas station parking lot and the power brakes failed. The vehicle had two recalls for brakes serviced on 7/7/22. The vehicle is being towed to a dealership as the vehicle had less than 12,400 miles and has been owned less than one year. Any/all components available for inspection. If driver had not had wherewithal to exit highway when they did, there certainly could have been a fatality incident.

Aug 26, 2022 Crash

After I turned on the car, unbeknownst to me, the Ford Bronco stayed revved up and it did not slow down. I then switched from park to reverse and the Bronco went so fast (>4000rpm) that I ended up hitting the tree so hard that the tree was uprooted. The car was not driveable and it had to be towed. This is under progressive insurance claim: 22-3913700. The insurance company would not check the "inside" of the car (etc...transmission, electrical, etc...) as they say this is prior to the accident. I have called the Ford dealership for assistance several times to report this and for them to take a look at the inside of the car, but they have not returned my messages.

Catastrophic engine failure 16 AUG 2022. Ford Bronco Sport with the 2.7 engine, some 2,800 miles, towed to repair facility Austin TX, can be inspected there, notify for details. Safety of all at risk, car in "deep sleep" with no warning, fortunately not yet on interstate highway from residential/small business area. Multiple warning signals appeared in vehicle only as engine in death throes. This problem, we find, is now under investigation by the NHTSA. No information on fix by Ford but appears to require full engine replacement under warranty. Inspection underway today at non-Ford repair facility. Note: Vehicle operated by New Mexico owner's adult daughter in Austin TX.

Within seconds of parking and turning off my vehicle I heard a loud pop and saw gray smoke billowing out from under the hood of my 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. Within 10 minutes the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames and destroyed two other vehicles and did additional property damage. The fire investigator stated that the fire started in the lower right front of the engine compartment but many of the parts were now incinerated including the aluminum wheels that melted into a puddle. No warning lamps or other indicators were present. Insurance representatives are currently inspecting the vehicle.

I was driving in Atlanta in 4 lanes of heavy traffic. My new Bronco just started slowing down and I was almost killed by traffic swerving around me. The message said deactivated switch and fuel injector faulty. Then Bronco completely stopped and would not crank. 100 degree heat in bad part of town. Stranded and scared. After being towed, the deactivated switch replaced in Ford dealership in Georgia. No loaner given. After 2 weeks at my expense, I get car back. 2 months later it happens again. Now, it’s in dealership for third time for 2 more weeks. Waiting to hear what’s wrong. The dealership has ordered fuel injector replacements. This is a brand new Bronco with about 4k miles. No prior issues and no warning signs on the car before the fire.
