My Check Engine Light came on today. I went to Advance Auto Parts and had them check the code (P0171). I took my vehicle to University Ford in Huntington and expressed concern that my fuel injector may cause a fire and I am not comfortable driving the car. They could not diagnose my car or loan me a safe vehicle. They sent me away in an unsafe vehicle. I am to bring the car back in the morning at 8am. I believe this problem is due to the open recall. I also believe all of the damaged parts that my car came with have depreciated the value of my car. I’ve driven Fords exclusively for 20 years. I’ve never had a Ford like this Bronco. Nothing but a nightmare. Tomorrow I hope the dealership fixes my problem or loans me a safe vehicle to pick my grandsons up from school in. Thank you.
The car has been dying repeatedly and then decides to work again, got a new battery and new alternator and it still died. Ford techs had it and drove it for 200 miles and couldn’t replicate the issue. Now less than a month after that the car is completely dead and won’t even start with a jump. We are towing it to ford.
While driving my 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, I experienced a strong chemical/fume smell entering the cabin, which caused headache and nausea. I later found that the battery installed in the vehicle had vent holes with visible liquid residue indicating leakage. I did not authorize or install this battery — it appears the battery was changed without my knowledge while the vehicle was in a lender’s possession. This created a serious safety concern because the fumes entered the HVAC system and the vehicle became unsafe to operate. I had the vehicle towed to two separate Ford dealerships. Both refused to inspect the HVAC system or provide a proper safety diagnosis. One dealer admitted the battery had “traces of leaking fluid,” but no diagnostic inspection was performed, and they attempted to close the repair order without documenting the safety concern. I was forced to replace the battery out of pocket just to safely drive the vehicle, but the original leaking battery and the exposure incident should still be investigated. My safety was put at risk, and the dealerships refused proper inspection or remediation.
I took my vehicle into my local ford dealership to get three active recalls remedied. Within 24 hours, my check engine light reappeared as well as "service engine soon" on my way into work. Upon leaving work, the dash lights were gone. They would come and go periodically. After about a week, it would pop up "service engine soon" and within ten minutes, regardless of speed, the RPMs would fly all the way up and the vehicle would act as if I took my foot off of the gas, almost immediately stopping on the highway. I would have to almost immediately pull off of the road and my vehicle would stall, flashing "shift system failure" as well as failing to let me put the vehicle into park or any other gear. Taking it into the shop, they told me that was due to a software bug WHICH THEY JUST "FIXED" with a recall update. They also proceeded to tell me there is metal debris in my oil and I need my transmission rebuilt, quoting me $13,000.
Low engine oil pressure sensor flashes & can’t accelerate past 40mph
I am reporting a serious and recurring issue with the catalytic converter on my 2021 Ford Bronco Sport (1.5L EcoBoost), which has resulted in reduced efficiency and partial blockage, causing exhaust gases to enter the cabin and triggering engine code P0171. My safety and the safety of others have been compromised because exhaust fumes, including carbon monoxide, have entered the cabin, which is particularly dangerous as I am currently pregnant. In addition, the engine experiences RPM fluctuations and revs up on its own, sometimes hesitating during acceleration, creating a risk of loss of control or accidents, and reduced engine efficiency contributes to unpredictable vehicle behavior. The problem has been confirmed by a dealership, which diagnosed the catalytic converter inefficiency and provided a $2,000 replacement quote. This issue has been widely reported among other 2021 Bronco Sport owners, indicating a recurring problem. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership, which ran diagnostics and verified the codes. Prior to the failure, the Check Engine Light illuminated, and I experienced exhaust fumes in the cabin, unusual odors, reduced engine performance, and RPM surges with hesitation during acceleration, first appearing around 80,000. This defect poses not only a serious safety hazard, but also environmental concerns, as the failing catalytic converter increases emissions of harmful gases, including carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides, contributing to air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. I respectfully request that this issue be formally investigated by Ford and NHTSA for a possible recall, that consideration be given to goodwill or warranty coverage for affected vehicles, that guidance be provided for the safe operation of vehicles exhibiting this defect, particularly for pregnant passengers or others at risk, and that the environmental impact of this defect be considered during the investigation.
Transmission shudders at low speeds (around 25-40 mph) when accelerating. This happens when shifting around 2nd gear something’s between 2nd and 3rd. Many online forums report the same issue in similar model vehicles and year when vehicle is just outside of warranty period issue occurred out of nowhere and happens consistently.
While driving car lost power, engine revs but doesn’t go, RPMs rev up. Please do your job and fix this car that has thousands of dollars owed on it because I wanted a broncho sport
Car suddenly and dangerously braked on highway with no other vehicles around. Afterwards the tool and check engine lights came on. All advance trac systems failed. Dealership replaced the broken bolts and rear axle. In review it appears recall 21s04 should apply. Site shows 2021 broncos from Hermosillo plant apply. Rep stated building date range 7/22-11/24. How can this apply to a 2021 ford recall?
So the window switches are cutting my fingers. Whatever was used to coat the switches peels like sturdy tin foil and has sliced my fingers multiple times as well as my passengers. I had to peel that coating off the switches so no one keeps getting injured in my vehicle. I just bought this car used in April and it cut me the first time I got in it I wasn't thinking of anything until it kept cutting me and other people.
Sunroof exploded
Purchased the Bronco Sport brand new in September 2021. Almost from the outset, the vehicle has been a nightmare. We just purchased our third battery. The vehicle died at an intersection and had to be towed to the dealership. They replaced the battery but it again failed. We have experienced numerous electrical issues with the vehicle as well as with the brakes and the power train. We have had the shift system fault notification come on several times. We took it in to the dealership who made some repairs and the notification went away for awhile. However, most recently, we were driving the vehicle down the interstate when it suddenly would not accelerate. We were very lucky to be able to maneuver the vehicle onto the shoulder. After a few minutes, the vehicle started and we were able to drive it home very slowly on side roads. We took the Bronco Sport to the dealership again and notified them of the multiple trips we had made there to fix this code issue. The dealership did a diagnostic and had a transmission specialist look at the car. The conclusion was that we needed a brand new transmission to the tune of $11K. Additionally, the dealership stated that we likely had rear differential issues as well - the subject of one of the many recalls on this lemon of a vehicle. We have not had the diagnostic performed as we are waiting on Ford to let us know if they will buy back the vehicle. Again, we purchased the car new and it has about 80K miles on it. There is no discernible reason for the transmission to fail on a car this new which has primarily been driven to and from work. A quick Google and social media search shows this is a pervasive problem with the 2021 Bronco Sport - many owners are experiencing electrical, power train and transmission issues. NHTSA needs to investigate this matter before someone is seriously injured or killed because of the failure of Ford in manufacturing the 2021 Bronco Sport.
The vehicle sometimes ran a little rough while idle at drive thru. Then week later the push start did not work... engine turned over but not start. After 6 times it finally started and ran good on way home. Later that week, kept having traffic lights in town turn red... constant slow so stop and go. Vehicle started sputtering and stalled out in the highway and died in middle of road and would not start. Had to let it sit several minutes and it finally started. We immediately turned around and went home. Made appointment at dealership. Tried to start vehicle to drop off for appointment but would not start. Had towed in. They claim fuel pump replacement required. Drove home and ran ok. Next day power inconsistent and runs rough at start and slow speed with one push start did not work. Reporting since my spouse is in a wheelchair and can not walk. This vehicle is only one we have that my spouse can get in due to disability and I am seriously concerned if vehicle stalls out on public highway again it is likely to result in an accident and he gets seriously hurt. Never had a vehicle I felt unsafe to have my family be in before and do not think it is safe for this vehicle be on the highway.
My car broke down and couldn’t start. Leaving me stranded 6 hours away from my house. I had to stay in a hotel and get my car fixed the next day. It was a temporary fix because there is no solution for the problem. I had to pay for a new battery because there is not a fix for the problem.
Transmission slipping, needing completely rebuilt or whole new transmission
Regarding the current recall for my 2021 Bronco Sport. How can Ford say this is still safe to drive if the battery can cut off at any given moment, leaving you stranded on a highway, or anywhere. I expect better from Ford. They should be letting those affected rent a car until the parts are available. This is a safety issue and extremely dangerous. This same thing happened with my third battery (yes, I am on my third battery in 3 1/2 years). I was left stranded, no hazards, no lights, no nothing, windows didn't work, door locks didn't work, it was dark out, and I was alone. My windows were down and I had valuables in the car so I couldn't leave the car. Very dangerous. Yes, I called for help, but it was scary and unsafe. Thank you.
Vehicle would not start on two occasions, both times the vehicle was jumped and started. On the third occasion the car would not start, the electrical panel flashed all the warning lights and the dashboard continually flashed on and off. It was towed to the Ford Dealership in Oxford, MS in December 2024. The dealership looked over the car, no other issues and advised that this was likely a recall and recommended a battery replacement which I did. I paid $202.65 for the repairs and in February I received a notice for 12 Volt battery recall but no instructions were provided to seek reimbursement nor was there any recall fix given (time was Q2 2025). The instrumental panel upon attempting to the start the vehicle would light up but the engine would not turn over, all warning lights would come on. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection.
4wd service fault known issue with these vehicles I feel that this is a safety issue based on the fact that you could lose four-wheel drive in times when four-wheel drive could be necessary icy conditions snow conditions ECT losing four-wheel drive during a snowstorm can definitely cause an accident this should definitely be a safety issue especially being a known problem
The recall that is currently out my car is experiencing some issues they stated but there’s no remedy for it at the time!! And I went to the dealership to have older recalls checked they won’t do it for the front suspension or fuel injectors
I bought a 2021 Bronco Sport Brand new and ever since the car has been a problem. The rear axle wasn’t getting enough lubricants so it was grinding and I didn’t know what it was at the time but I took it to a Ford dealership and was told after spending 200$ on diagnostic testing that absolutely nothing was wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle kept doing the same thing grinding noises so I took it in again and got the same results now mind you this is way before my power train was up. The car felt so unstable and unsafe it got to the point where I had to just leave it at the dealership until Ford could help me with some financial assistance. While at the dealership Ford told the mechanic to check the transmission and upon checking the transmission the mechanic found a problem. The total of repairs came up to over 10k for a vehicle that doesn’t even have 65k miles on it. I was sold a brand new lemon. This was my first new car purchase and it has literally been the worst experience in my life. The brakes were recalled the fuel injection system now the battery which I’ve already spent 500$ on a new one last year has guess what? Been recalled as of 1/17/2025. So after thousands of dollars in rental car and Uber rides which I have yet to be reimbursed for my vehicle is still at the Ford dealership has been there for over 3 months out of 10k in repairs Ford offered to pay only 4,100. What a rip off buying this junk was. I really thought Ford would do the right thing and take care of its customers but I was wrong dead wrong. Biggest mistake of my like.
Rear brakes are noisy, they make a grinding noise. Ever since we got the vehicle . Screens turn black while driving , can control infotainment system Water gets into the vehicle when it rains or when getting car washed
The battery that came with the vehicle lasted less than 2 years. It was replaced after one day the car just wouldn’t hold any charge. I have the pep boys receipt and record to prove the battery would no longer hold any charge.
On two occasions vehicle has turned off while in drive. Have taken to dealership without a resolution. After vehicle is off for several minutes (unable to turn anything on including hazards) vehicle starts up and computer resets without any warnings. Unable to put the vehicle in neutral to move off the road while occurring.
Since performing a manufacturer update to the Sync technology system, my touch screen has not functioned properly, including the back up camera. The screen goes black or freezes on the rear view camera even when in drive and moving forward. Each time this happens, the system has to be rebooted.
As I was driving the vehicle it lost all power. Nothing on it worked, including the locks and windows. It turns out that the warning system that my battery was low wasn’t functioning and my battery was down to 5%. If I had gotten notice I could have replaced the battery prior to the car literally bricking as I was driving it on a busy city street.
My vehicle was emitting fumes into my vehicle and making a strange noise. When I took it to the dealership they tested the emissions/catalytic converter and fuel injectors. Which all showed no issues. When investigating further, they found that the weld on the catalytic converter had broke and was causing an unstable catalytic converter. Service manager reported to me that he felt this was definitely a manufactured defect and said if I hit a bear that shouldn’t have been an issue. No bear was hit and there was NO incident at all. Just driving to and from work.
My ford bronco stalled when I was slowing down at a traffic light. The entire car shutdown. The steering wheel locked up and the car could not be put into neutral. After about 15 minutes the car was able to turn on again. The stalling out at an intersection put me in danger by putting me in a situation where I was stuck in active traffic without the ability to move my car to a safe area off of the main road. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the car completely shutting off at the traffic light.
My car was stopped at a red light and when I hit the gas to go my entire car shut off. I was not able to turn my hazards on or put my car in neutral to push my car out of traffic. This is a huge safety concern because a car could’ve rear ended me since I wasn’t able to put hazards on. I attempted to jumpstart the vehicle but that didn’t work. I had to get my car towed and sent to the dealership. The issue sounds like the recall notice 24S24 - however my bronco sport says I don’t have any recalls. After talking to other bronco sport owners who had similar issues, they said they had to pay several hundred dollars to replace the battery with an AGM battery because the bronco sport isn't equipped to handle all the electronics.
My car made a loud pop noise when I go to turn it over. Then it was just dead others tried to jump it, but it wasn’t getting enough juice. Along with this all the warning signals start flashing through on the dash before basically dying. There had been warning at all early I had been driving around just fine. When we finally get to the dealership they say it was just the battery. We replace the battery but I see that other 2021 bronco sport’s had battery recall issues they said, mine didn’t fall under the date when the bad ones were produced. Still I think they should look at other dates, since they might have been over looked or on the cusps of the dates between the bad batteries and the good batteries.
While waiting in the drop off line at school the Bronco suddenly shut off and would not restart. The dash lights, AC controls, radio, etc all shut off as if the entire electrical system shut down. The orange pull strap used to put the vehicle in neutral did not work as the electrical shutdown seemed to have locked up the brakes. Fortunately since it happened in a school zone traffic was slow moving and we did not have to worry about getting hit. Unfortunately, the vehicle was stuck in the middle of the road an unmovable until a tow truck came. After some quick research I've seen that this is a fairly common occurrence in the 2021 Bronco Sport. I used the Ford site to check the VIN but supposedly my vehicle was not affected by any recalls. Seems more than a coincidence that I have experienced exactly what others describe yet I'm unaffected by any recalls. I am now extremely concerned to have my wife and children in a car that could potentially shut off at any time and lock up the brakes. If this were to have happened on the highway who knows how many people may have been injured or killed. Prior to the incident there were no warnings, no warning notifications, nothing. Currently the vehicle is at the dealership who is charging a premium to diagnose the issue and replace the battery.
The vehicle was traveling on a major highway when at a red light the car stopped and the auto start/stop engaged and the car turned off. After the car turned off I could not restart it. All power to the car was lost. No lights, radio, nothing. I attempted to put the car in neutral to move it off the highway, however the car is designed in a way it can not simply just be shifted into neutral. I grabbed the owners manual and read I needed to pull the manual park release cable located under the steering wheel. I pull the cable nothing. At this point I’ve called the local police department and they send out 2 officers. They attempt to shift the car into neutral as well, to no luck. I read the electronic parking break needs to be turned off but the car needs power to do this. My car has no power. A man comes with a jumper box and attempts to jump the car when it starts smoking. The battery has full voltage however it’s not transferring power to the car. I have to sit in the middle of a highway for 2 hours until a tow truck can tow my car. In those 2 hours I was at a significant risk of bodily and property damage and also risking harm to the other drivers on the road. Ford has no suggestion how to fix my specific problem. They’ve not taken into account a situation where there is no power to turn off the electronic parking break, to pull the cable and shift the car into neutral. The Ford service department had no idea how to replicate the situation to try and fix it. All I asked Ford for was a way to safely be able to remove my car from the middle of traffic the next time it happens. They have told me they can not help me. The Delaware city police department sent two officers who witnessed the event. Prior to the loss of power there was no warning. $1000 later I had a new starter put in and Ford did some recall work on it. However in my opinion the car is unsafe in the event power is lost again on the road.
When I came to a stop (stop sign) the vehicle's complete electrical system shut down, all went black. I couldn't turn on hazard lights or anything. (seems related to the recall notice). I waited to see if any change occurred, attempted restart, but nothing was operable. I connected a jump start battery and successfully restarted the car... all seemed ok afterward. This seems life endangering as a potential hazard.
On days when it rains or the weather is slightly cold/dewy, the Ford Bronco seems to make a screech/horn-like sound only when reversing. I found some online forum links (listed below) where other Ford users seem to describe the similar issue we're experiencing. This is the second dealership that we have taken the vehicle to be serviced for the issue, but they have both stated there is nothing they can do because the issue has not been issued as a recall. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] The first dealership visited for service was: Metro Ford Sales & Service, Inc. Address: 6455 S Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60636 The second dealership visited for service was: Napleton Ford of Oak Lawn Address: Address: 6100 W 95th St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 The attachment includes the most recent appointment visit. Unfortunately, I cannot provide an invoice at this time because the vehicle is still at the dealership (10 days after taking it in). I visited the dealership yesterday (08/12/2024) where I was informed that the the service technician working on my car is in the hospital. Had I not visited, then I probably would not have known this, and the other service technician I spoke to said they could not share any more details since they were not part of the servicing for my car. Martin Garcia ([email protected]) is supposed to be the middle-man between me and the dealership to help me address the issue, but I have not received information from his end either. When I called the Ford's number using (866) 631-3788 to get a hold of Martin Garcia, someone else assisted and I was told that he would call me tomorrow (08/14/2024) to give him an update on what the dealership shared with me. No warning lamps I believe this is covered under the powertrain warranty, however mine expired 4K miles ago. Excessive shuddering and pull at low speeds while executing turns. Progressively getting worse, inspected by Ford Dealer Shop and told to replace RDU vent hose and fluid. Sooner than later to prevent failure or other damage.
My 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend had an acute and complete power failure. I stopped for a red traffic light and was waiting to turn and my brake popped under my foot and my vehicle lost all power. It would not restart and I was broke down in the middle lane of traffic with no ability to have hazards or any kind of power. This is with approximately 27,000 miles on the vehicle that I just recently purchased. As a single lady with her quad amputee son in the car, this was very scary and certainly concerning. Ford states my vehicle has no recalls, yet this seems to be a regularly occurring issue with this specific make and model. Can this possibly be looked into and more vehicles added to this recall? Thank God I wasn’t actually in motion when I lost power. I had to have my vehicle towed to my home and now I have nothing to drive and am told my 3year/36,000 mile warranty expired a few months ago due to age, not mileage. Ford should’ve reported this, but I figured it needs to be heard again and again until this problem is corrected and unsuspecting motorists aren’t left stranded or put into any unnecessary danger at the hand of a vehicle manufacturer.
I took my vehicle in to have the flash system updated to pass the emissions test for Louisiana. Ford charged me over $200 for a failure on that system from purchase, and no dealership would get back to me until I took my vehicle across town to have the system reset. Hollingsworth Ford told me that this wouldn't be covered under their system because I took this in out of warranty, but this is a problem since vehicle purchase.
A few weeks ago, my Ford Bronco Sport (Big Bend) starting jolting when I made slow turns to the right. It has since increased the jolting/seizing with a grinding noise since it began. My car has been looked at for this issue in which Chastang Ford replaced both frontal control arms stating this was causing the jolting. However, my car continued to jolt/seize on slow right turns. I took it back to Chastang Ford, and they said the RDU fluid needs replaced along with the hose. Their labor costs were high, so I got a second opinion at FireStone. The mechanic at FireStone told me the RDU needs to be assessed and gave me information about a recall for this issue. This recall is not assigned to my vehicle, but it is believed that is the problem. Reference#: 21V011000, Ford Recall#: 21S02 It was determined by the service assistance that my car didn't come from the plant this recall was initiated for, but it's still the problem. I called Legacy Ford (who I bought the car from), and they stated they would have to replace the hose and fluid. However, this wouldn't have happened if there was enough lubricant to begin with which is what this recall is addressing. I would like this issue to be addressed by NHTSA on other Ford Bronco Sports dealing with this issue as well as Ford as it is also not covered under my extended warranty.
Attempted to start car, screen behind steering wheel went black. Tried again, car went through several error messages but would not start. Gear shift and other lights flashed. Hazards did not work. No warnings prior to failure. Only after. This is the third time this has happened. The first two in busy intersections where the car stalled then went through multiple error messages. This time, thankfully, the problem occurred in my driveway. We will be towing back to matt bowers ford in the morning. Again. The previous times they ran checks, drove it and said they could not replicate the issue. Last time they put dielectric grease on the connectors. When I contacted ford I was given a case number and told I would be contacted in one business day. I was not. When I contacted ford again I was informed my case was closed and if I was concerned about the dealer’s work I should go elsewhere. Problem is the other dealer will charge me if my dealer messed up. They are also unable to look at my car for at least three weeks. The battery has been replaced once sine I bought the car in August 2021. The rear axle has also been replaced. I have brought it in for all recalls ( multiple) and kept up with recommended maintenance.
Previous NHTSA ID Number. 11596944. Recall fix was run earlier this month. Car died at stoplight two days ago. Fix run again at dealership. Car died at red light again today. Was able to put car in park. Tried to restart. Multiple flashing warnings. Was able to get hazards on this time. Had car towed back to dealer. They are calling Ford. Second time this happened at busy intersection. This time at interstate on ramp. Bus driver attempting to turn got out of bud and offered to push the car but we could not get it in neutral. Tow driver had towed in a bronco sport right before us with the same issue. Someone is going to be seriously injured. Service guy showed me record of previous error messages. There were about twenty. I have a video of the screens flashing today.
First, the car was brought in 6/2/24 to take care of the open recall. I am still receiving notices but the dealership assured me the recall dealing with the battery was addressed. I came to a stop at a red light and the car shut down (all screens black). I attempted to restart. Car would not start but the radio, wipers, and screens flashing warnings intermittently came on. Could not turn on hazard lights. I had to climb out of the passenger side to avoid traffic and then attempted to direct traffic around the car. (Red light is in a curve making it difficult to see stopped vehicle.). Waited about 30 minutes for my husband. He was able to start the car and pull out of the road. We were not comfortable driving it so had it towed to dealer. Prior to the shutdown there were no warnings. The car was running well prior to this incident. It is still at the dealer. They told me battery drain, communication issues, and that they could see the error messages that flashed after the shutdown. The car was purchased in August 2021. It has 15,479 miles on it and most recently is driven 5 miles per or less during the week. I can’t find the date but the battery has been changed once already. Had this happened on some of the other rides I drive, I would have been part of a terrible crash.
GPS does not work reliably. Will often show the car in a completely different area than where you actually are. Often parking the car, turning the car off and letting it rest for a few minutes prior to restarting with reset the GPS. Is a hazard if you are trying to follow directions when the GPS suddenly stops working.
It has been over a month and there is no fix for the recall, this is extremely scary and dangerous as the car can lose power at any time.
While driving the vpickle, shut off on its own and came to a complete stop. No lights, working, no horns know nothing would work on this vehicle. This happened while the vehicle was in motion we are lucky we didn't die.
I am currently on my Third battery. Prior to getting this third car battery, there was numerous electrical issues randomly occurring. I read that there is a current investigation going on with Bronco Sports just stopping, could it be batteries failing and not being g detected?? Just wanted you to know. The first time I had dealership replace battery, they said it tested "fine" I had to insist something be done, which led them to try replacing the original battery. Since it's happened before the dealership just replaces the batteries and then stuff works normally. Can't recall dates off hand, but at home I have paperwork with dates.
[XXX] Vehicle would not start(not even crank) while parked in the garage. Could not jump start, had to be dragged out of garage(could not put in neutral) and hauled on rollback to Blaise Alexander Ford Lewisburg, Pa. Dealership kept for 4 days and charged battery and could not replicate the problem. [XXX] Vehicle while driving message of Vehicle Connection Error came up on screen and then all gauges blacked out, turned off of road and died, could not restart, could not jump start and would not crank. Again had to be drug onto rollback (could not put in neutral) and towed to Blaise Alexander Ford Lewisburg, pa , kept for 6 days and tested battery, could not charge it and replaced it at our cost. Vehicle was at 35,098miles. They could not replicate the problem. Do not feel safe driving this vehicle if it shuts down randomly at times. Car stopped while driving. Couldn’t get the car into neutral to move it out of the road. Would not crank. Leaking oil.
My 2021 Bronco failed our family on Friday. The Bronco failed to start upon pressing the start and brake pedal. The main console panel started flashing then cycling through all kinds of failure alerts. There was a series loud noises from the engine, the headlights flashed off and on for over 3 minutes and then the engine started smoking. The doors would not open and we were stuck inside while the engine was smoking. That smoke came through the air vents as well. Finally, I was able to get my door open though couldn’t open my son’s rear passenger side door from the outside. He was stuck inside for what seemed like forever. He was able to open it finally and I carried him inside. My son’s legs are paralyzed and he does not walk. My main concern was getting him to a safe place as I was scared to death that the engine was going to explode in that moment. The engine smoke started to ease up however the electrical burning smell was overwhelming. This all took place in my garage. The trunk would not unlock and my key fob would not engage with the vehicle at all during this time. The trunk hatch lock finally disengaged and I was finally able to get his wheelchair out. Everything failed. I could not get the Bronco into neutral at any point. The Bronco is currently at my local Ford dealer where I was told I have to wait a week before it can even be looked at. I was told "it's just the battery...." There is NO way my experience was "just the battery." As of 10/10/2023 no one from corporate or the dealer has reached out to me. Once I got to the dealer (Jarret Gordon Ford Davenport), they were so dismissive of me. The service advisor never even asked if my son or myself were OK.
Mileage: 28,296
Since dec 2021, buying vehicle, I've not had real heat, you can turn heat to 86 and above and have heat, nothing in between. Was told they needed to speak to engineer to fix problem. I took it back in needing heat again, and was told if I only use automatic and set temperature, I could have a temporary solution for zero heat and they would find a more permanent solution. My vehicle is almost 2 years old and i still have not had an engineer diagnose and fix my heat. I've been told by dealership that temporary fix should be sufficient or to sell my bronco.
When reversing there is the absolute worst extremely loud embarrassing metallic screeching sound, considerable to a ships horn. Once you press brake fully and come to a complete stop the sounds ceases, let go of the brake it come right back. You can put it in drive and then back to reversing, same thing. Dealership was informed in 2022, said they fixed it. Spring/Summer of 2023 after complaining again was told part was ordered, could not be told what part. September 2023 was told no part was ordered, issue was fixed. October 2023 had a male take my bronco in for repairs and answers, parts are now reordered, parts are back ordered since this is a recall, no time frame on repair. When you check my vin for recalls, all recalls are closed. I am under the impression that my Dealership never has done recall work and only clearing them off as completed.
When trying to start the vehicle, it would not crank. Instead, all dash indicator lights, interior lights, and exterior lights began flashing. Numerous random error messages began flashing on the dashboard screen. Then a large plume of smoke began coming out from under the hood and there was an acrid burning smell. No flames were visible so the fire department would not respond when called and advised to have it towed. After much difficulty loading onto a tow truck (the parking brake would not disengage--dash indicated a parking brake fault as one of the many errors--so it had to be dragged onto the flatbed tow truck) the vehicle was towed to the local dealership in Dothan, AL. Per the dealership, there was an underhood fire involving the starter and battery. We are unable to inspect the damaged components. They stated they are unable to remedy the smoke smell that has permeated the vehicle despite the disabling lung conditions of one of our family members. We have tried numerous times over the last 9 months to get the dealership to perform service required by NHTSA Recall # 22V859, but they keep stating the parts are unavailable. They will not say whether this underhood fire is directly related to the recall already in effect.
Vehicle shut down completely with no power, while driving. No alerts on dash that there was a problem with the vehicle. The 911 safety feature did not work. The hazards would not work. This was a dangerous, unsafe situation to be in. We received a health alert from the Ford app that evening regarding a CSP for high-pressure fuel injectors.
Beginning at approximately 25,000 miles the vehicle started exhibiting stuttering at low speeds (<10 mph) while turning. this happened in both forward and reverse and turning either direction. I originally reported it as possible CV joint issue. Dealer informed me it was a known issue and drained and replaced the RDU fluid. Issue went away but resurfaced around the 50,000 mile mark. same results that the issue went away. Issue came once again at ~ 75,000 miles at which point I was informed that it was no longer covered by warranty. I paid to have same "fix" done, however the issue did not go away. Ford has stated that they will not cover cost of repair even though this is an existing issue identified under warranty and not corrected. Issue currently has a NHTSA communication (10187981)
My husband was driving down a mountain highway when suddenly he heard a loud noise. He pulled over and found the moonroof glass had shattered. There were no cars around and no signs that something had hit it—we think it was glass failure due to a pressure change. Ford has had issues with moonroof glass spontaneously shattering on other vehicles and there are a few reports online about it happening to other Bronco Sports. Ford will not take responsibility and says we need to file an insurance claim. This is a major safety issue—my husband could have been seriously injured if the moonroof cover had been open and glass had fell on him.
While traveling up a steep highway grade my car engine started to make violent knocking sounds before seizing and coming to a stop. I was lucky I was able to "man-handle" the vehicle off to the side of the road before anyone could hit me from behind.
Second complaint regarding the vehicle - the vehicle is making similar "knocking" sounds reported in the previous complaint which I fear may result in engine failure (again). Submitted report 06/24/2023 regarding previous issues with the engine making knocking sounds and seizing at high RPMs (specifically going uphill at highway speed).
After 2 years, I have still been unable to get an appointment with any Ford dealership to repair the 3 issues that have warranted recalls of my vehicle, my car is almost 3 years old and only has 18,000 miles on it because I do not feel safe driving it due to it not have the necessary repairs. I find it alarming that I can get in for an oil change or any other maintenance issue but not for a safety issue.
Brakes make loud noise went in reverse took the vehicle to dealer for service they replace some bushings but still is making the noise.
The vehicle was acting weird and not providing power in the way that I would expect it when accelerating. If the vehicle cannot accelerate, I am at risk because I may be merging into traffic and a car could hit me. I tried calling the dealer but they don't have a solution to the problem yet. It is a safety recall but they don't have a way to fix it. There's also a lawsuit that I'm not related to but about this same issue. So I'm concerned this is going to take a long time to be solved. The screen inside the car malfunctioned and turned off but I'm not 100% sure if that's related. Below is the recall that I am referring to Manufacturer Recall Number22S73 NHTSA Recall Number22V859 I'm just hoping to be able to drive a safe car and I'm concerned that this is a danger to me and my passengers and I'm not sure what I can do about it because even the dealership doesn't have a solution.
Charging System The vehicle safety systems and monitoring systems shut down due to battery charging system failures. Problem confirmed by Ford engineers. And Ford service where the vehicle is still sitting. Vehicle has been at dealership 90% since 8/2022. They and Ford engineers do not know what’s wrong or why it will not keep a charge. Battery replaced, alternator and more but it still is unsafe to drive. Have too many warnings to count. And we have taken it to dealer for repair but nothing fixes it. And even the Ford engineers do not understand why it fails.
My car has around 13,000 miles and my heat started to not work. I took it to the ford dealer shop and it has been at the mechanic for over 1 month. They are replacing the water coolant. I read in forums that several people have had issues with the water coolant as well. I am unsure when the car will be ready
Driving the vehicle between on a highway and, repeatedly, the control panel would completely shut down with the warning that the battery was running low on power. It doesn’t make sense since the vehicle is less than two years old.
I was waiting to turn at a red light when the engine shut down and I lost all power including all lights and locking mechanisms. I was unable to get it off the road because it was locked in gear. It had to be towed and dropped off at the dealer. It is still there at this time.
MAKES A LOUD MOANING SOUND WHEN REVERSING AFTER VEHICLE HAS SAT FOR A FEW HOURS. BRAKE PADS ARE FINE, DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN BRAKING WHILE GOING FORWARD. ONLY BRAKING WHILE GOING IN REVERSE.
Powertrain malfunction/reduced power
After I turned on the car, unbeknownst to me, the Ford Bronco stayed revved up and it did not slow down. I then switched from park to reverse and the Bronco went so fast (>4000rpm) that I ended up hitting the tree so hard that the tree was uprooted. The car was not driveable and it had to be towed. This is under progressive insurance claim: 22-3913700. The insurance company would not check the "inside" of the car (etc...transmission, electrical, etc...) as they say this is prior to the accident. I have called the Ford dealership for assistance several times to report this and for them to take a look at the inside of the car, but they have not returned my messages.
My 2021 Bronco Sport has a stress crack in the windshield and it is very concerning because on the Facebook forum, I am seeing tons of Bronco Sport owners having the same issue. Some owners are on their 2nd to 4th windshield. Ford is not taking responsibility for this issue and is having owners submit to their auto insurance. I’m very concerned for the safety and integrity of the windshields that are being put in these vehicles. I’m getting mine replaced but how can I trust that it won’t happen again. I’m very scared that it will shatter while driving.
FORD SAYS OFF ROAD BRONCO BULL I HAUL MAIL IN THE COUNRTY SO GRAVEL ROADS THE SHEILDS UNDER BREAK ALL THE TIME AND IT BREAKS THE E VAP CANISTER SO I HAVE TO REPLACE IT ON MY OWN THEY WILL NOT COVER IT NOT UNDER WARNNETY ABOUT A $1000.00 EVERYTIME IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. AND I CAN NOT AFFORD IT. THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE CHEEP PLASCT SHEILDS CAUSE I'AM NOT GOING TO KEEP REPLACEING THEM
The windshield is weak, I have 3 cracks and multiple divets within 6 months of purchase.
When I drive in reverse at any speed, there is a very loud noise. When I got my last oil change I told the repair tech at my Ford Dealer and he said he didn’t hear it. I took it home and now it is worse, and extremely loud.
EVERY morning when reversing out of my driveway my brakes make a very loud noise. It's been going on for several months and is only getting worse. I've taken it up to the dealership and they cannot find the problem.
Unknown. When backing up there is a howling sound while applying the brakes. The cause maybe the brake linings or rotors.
The car wouldn't stop even after normally hitting the brakes. It continued to slide almost hit another car. The brakes make squeaking noise when in reverse mode
The car stalls out and stops accelerating while on the road, putting me in danger. At first, it displayed service and check engine lights, and the Ford Service Dept said it was a faulty transmission sensor. They replaced it, and now no service and check engine lights appear, but the car continues to have problems accelerating or changing gears. It is driving very loud as well and struggling to drive at high speeds. Consumer stated auto-shutoff at lights is also not working consistently and continues to stay shutoff even after letting go of the brakes. This hasn't ever happened before.
Mileage: 100
When turning on the car and getting it into drive, the car does not move as it seems to be stuck in neutral. Once the gear catches, the car does drive. This happens at stop lights, in traffic, red lights, and any time my car has to stop. This occurs with the engine on or off. This car also was bought on 8/17 straight off the truck for the dealership.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2021 BRONCO AND GOING INTO A RIGHT TURN THE VECHICLE GETS LOOSE . SORT OF SCARY WHEN IT DOES IT. LIKE IM GOING TO LOSE THE VECHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL GETS REAL LOOSE AND ITS A CONCERN RIGHT NOW. I THOUGHT YOU ALL CAN LOOK IN T O THIS AND SEE WHAT IS CAUSING IT.
Chipping paint and gear shift knob cracking and ineffective
UNKNOWN I purchased a new 2021 Ford Bronco from the Ford dealership in Gaithersburg, MD in May 2021. On June 24th with 700 miles on the odometer I began a cross country drive to Wisconsin for a family vacation. Spent the week up North in Minocqua. Returned to Oconomowoc WI for the 4th of July weekend. On Monday July 5th my 15 year old nephew and I began the drive back to MD. Around 3:00pm we ma de our first stop at a convenience center in Elkhart IN. I parked my car and we went in to use the restrooms, while in the restroom my nephew heard someone say that there was a car on fire in the parking lot. It was my Ford Bronco. A total loss. I had no notice of any sort of issue with the vehicle.
Small rock hit my windshield and caused a huge 12+ inch crack in the middle of the windshield. Started off as a small crack then grew.
