Transmission is going out. Costly repair $13,000 Seems to be a known issue but no recall? Let’s do better for your customers
The car's OBD (on board diagnostic) is not functional. This means that if a check engine light comes on it's impossible for the mechanic to know why. This means the car can never complete a state inspection and more seriously if there's an electrical problem, could result in a fire. I took the car to a Ford dealership and they verbally told me that lots of Ford cars are having this problem and that it is a manufacturing problem, not a specific problem only with my car. They want anywhere from $1600 - $4000 to repair/reprogram the OBD. They told me that they've done this "repair" for many customers and it's a manufacturing problem. In my opinion this should be a recall, not a repair customers have to pay for, most importantly because it could be dangerous bc mechanics can't access the car info if the check engine light comes on, and also the car can never be inspected which is not the fault of the car owner.
Dash Panel Display blanked out while driving in the morning and was dark out. It happened at least 4 times during a 45min drive into work. Could not see the speed I was going or any gauges which I don't think any of the Safety stuff was working.
Car shutters and makes a lot of noise in low gears and speed. Car still has issues after repairs. Local shop unable to make final repairs due to tools needed... Ford dealer will not cover due to mileage even with TSB- 25-2351
I own a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport (VIN: [XXX] ) that experienced a premature and unsafe transmission failure at about 75,000 miles. The issue began earlier with jerking and hesitation after stops and worsened until the vehicle displayed “Transmission Not in Park” and would not start. This created a dangerous situation at intersections and parking areas. Sioux City Ford diagnosed the issue and replaced the valve body under partial goodwill in July 2025, but the problem persisted. My service advisor said the new valve needed to “relearn” after 700 miles, but symptoms continued and the vehicle eventually became undriveable. I contacted Ford multiple times and was assigned case numbers, but received no resolution. The transmission was later confirmed failed by an independent certified shop, which replaced it at my expense ($7,711.96) along with towing ($246.10) and rental costs ($511.63). The defective parts remain available for inspection. This is a 2022 vehicle with less than 80,000 miles, and a complete transmission failure at this mileage is unreasonable and unsafe. Many other Bronco Sport owners have reported similar failures, jerking, and “Transmission Not in Park” errors linked to Ford’s 8F35 transmission. Ford has also issued Recall 24V-267000 and TSB 22B38 for related issues. This failure is not isolated and poses a significant safety concern for drivers. Very bumpy rides on the smooth highways Also creaky loud noise when given breaks. Specially when reversed driving.
I have had multiple issues with my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport in the past 3 years and there have been multiple recalls. The ac failed at the 2 year mark and the rear brakes also started to make an odd noise intermittently when I would have the vehicle in reverse. I reported it and asked Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax, VA to check it twice (this is the dealership I purchased the vehicle from - I had them check it on 7/3/24 and 9/28/24 and have service records confirming) and they said they could find nothing wrong and there was no recall for it and there was nothing they could do (keeping in mind my vehicle was under warranty at that time). Fast forward to today, I go in for an oil change and mention the rear brakes are making noise again and ask if they can check it for me. They told me there is now a remedy for the issue, acknowledging there wasn't in the past. I mentioned at the time that I had reported and asked about it twice and why should I now have to pay for that when clearly this is a defect that should have been addressed by Ford when I initially reported it (keeping in mind that my vehicle is now out of warranty). Then they tell me I need to replace the front brake pads and brake fluid for a cost of over 1k and rear rotors and brake pads for 1200, but admitted the rear brake pads are not that bad and can wait. I do not ride my brakes and have no history of that in any vehicle I've ever owned, so I did some research and learn that this is an issue with the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport which seems to have MANY issues. Ford is not acknowledging any of the issues that this specific year/make/model has. I clearly alerted them to an issue a year ago and they claimed to have no solution but now they magically do once it's out of warranty? Clearly having defective brakes is a safety issue, not to mention the fuel injector issue that is under recall - apparently Ford doesn't have the part for that either. Please issue a recall for the defective brake pads and rotors.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? AutoNation Ford Corpus Christi found purge valve making abnormal clicking sound, valve sticking and closed. I replaced the valve with a new OEM part. Code P04F0 came off but vehicle would still lag and sputter when accelerating. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? feels like vehicle can hesitate or stop while accelerating and get rear ended Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Took vehicle back to AutoNation Corpus Christi and the tech's cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle but there is definitely an obvious issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Inspected by AutoNation Corpus Christi technicians and they cannot pinpoint the issue. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Warning light code P04F0 comes on, recommended purge valve replaced but issue vehicle still lags and sputters when accelerating.
I bought my vehicle brand new and have received several recall notices and have had to have repairs done for common issues not featured in recalls but maybe service bulletins. I have had the water pump replaced 2x in the last 2 years Rear differential replaced completely linked to the recalled issue. PCM software is being recalled for the second time in 2 years. I’ve have owned exclusively ford and this model has been a near nightmare. I get my cars serviced regularly so it’s definitely not due to lack of maintenance but instead seems as if the 2022 bronco sport model was tainted from the manufacturer.
Backup camera is blue screened. Says to see dealer . Vehicle only has 28,009 miles on it. Thx
I originally submitted a claim in November before I received the diagnostic report back on my trasmission, so this is the updated information. On November 1, 2024, I was driving to work and my transmission failed. I service my car very regularly at the same Ford dealership and they know how much I drive, so I always listen their recommendations for matienance. I did take my to a transmission specialist to rebuild my transmission as well as diagnose the mode of failure for my transmission. When I asked him whether it was wear and tear or something else, he told me he did not believe that it was wear and tear and that it was due to something internally coming off and overtime hitting my transmission gears and overtime it was starting to hit some of the lower gears and by that time my transmission failed. This is a somewhat newer car. I have spend almost $5000 just to rebuild my tranmission on a two year old car. There is no way for me to be able to anticipate this happening, it sounds like a manufacter defect to have something come off internally. The only way to diagnose it as well is to take apart the transmission which alone costs hundreds of dollars. I did reach out to the service shop to get a written statement of what happened from the techinican. If there is anything else I need to support my case, please let me know.
I am not quite familiar with the name of the lights on the bottom of my vehicle they sometimes come on and sometimes they do not. When I back up it sounds like my tires are rubbing against something and when I pull forward it sounds the same.
Turbo blew because of emissions systems and I never got alerts tht there was a problem but ford could see all the notifications
Exhaust smell inside cabin, louder than normal exhaust
What is the problem? Battery failure after receiving recall 25V019 notice. I was informed in February 2024 that my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport was affected by a battery recall, but that the remedy was not yet available. The battery subsequently failed in April, requiring a paid replacement out of pocket ($313.99). I have attempted to get reimbursement from both the Ford dealership and Ford corporate. Each party continues to deny responsibility and refers me back to the other. Why is this a safety concern? Battery failure left me stranded, requiring a tow. Had I been driving under different conditions (e.g., rural roads or at night), this could have created serious safety risks. The lack of resolution from Ford raises concern about their accountability regarding known defects. What action do you want NHTSA to take? I would like NHTSA to investigate Ford’s failure to reimburse for a known recall issue and hold them accountable for not honoring the recall protection as outlined in federal safety standards.
Since the BRAND NEW PURCHASE after ordering our 2022 Bronco Sport, as you REVERSE, BACK UP, it makes a LOUD METAL to METAL rubbing noise to be heard 50 to 100 YARDS away. Anytime especially mornings & mid-day it is so LOUD. Ford dealers are tired of me coming in complaining about the NOISE as they tell me FORD IS AWARE! FORD IS AWARE! They tell me Please stop asking about this 3 YEAR OLD problem as of August 2022 FORD is AWARE and knows about it but every time I look into this LOUD NOISE PROBLEM I am getting a run around! This sound is starting to worry us as it's NOT BRAKES as FORD DEALERSHIPS has checked our BRONCO SPORT Brakes and tell us YES IT'S LOUD but we don't know what the 2022 BRONCO SPORT issue is. ARE WE SAFE? Three years now we have dealt with this issue. Wiekert Ford in Lake Wales Florida and AutoNation Ford in St. Petersburg Florida both tell us we don't know. Wiekert Ford keeps saying we are Not aware of this PROBLEM & AutoNation Ford just SHOWS me the FORD DISCLAIMER that FORD is aware of BUT NOTHING is being done about this LOUD noise? Please help me out, NHTSA are we safe? Is FORD doing anything about these 2022 BRONCO SPORT vehicles? Please advise! Thank you
Air conditioning compressor clutch Failed. Noticed 1 day after warranty expired because air conditioner was not used in the winter. Found your report noting a problem with this . Ford won’t cover it.
On April 8th 2025 our vehicle went into "limp mode" for the third time in 6 months. The previous incidents were part of an active recall and we're repaired by a does dealership. This time it is supposedly the failure of a fuel pump sensor causing the issue (per ford service diagnosis) which they say is NOT covered by fords recall nor is it covered under any warranty and must be paid for out of pocket. This repeat occurrence has caused our vehicle to stall in traffic not just when at stops but also just when turning or pulling onto streets or highway. This has happened while crossing busy streets putting the lives of our family at RISK MULTIPLE times. Ford refuses to pay for rental vehicles while our vehicle has been in repair for this issue and also while the vehicle is in an unsafe condition to drive. This also causes undo hardship for our family as we are not able to pay for a rental vehicle for extended amounts of time while our vehicle is in an unsafe state. I am highly concerned that Ford is trying to "wash their hands" of this vehicle and avoid true remedy the overwhelming evidence of problems of these vehicles. I have included the previous invoices for the recall repairs that caused this. I have not yet received the invoice for the repair being done currently as of 4/17/2025 .There are additional safety issues we've encountered with the "safety features" of the vehicle that i will be submitting separately.
Car makes a grinding noise when backing up. When car was in for servoce back in June was told parts are in back order. No contact at all from dealer. Today car was in for servise - dealer is aware of the issue - they stated Ford has not issued. revall yet for this issue. This is the 4th issue with this vechile since I purchased it new in December of 2022
im smelling exhast when driving my car and its strong, was told that there is a recall for this issue for 21 and 22 ford brnco sports but mine is not included yet I'm having the issue
I am dealing with the smell of gasoline/fumes inside the car while it is not moving, especially on a cold start. The vehicle spent 3 business days at the dealer. The dealer confirmed the smell, but were unable to identify it. I have been attempting to work with Ford for over a week, but the agent assigned to my case will not respond to me, and has not done anything. I am stuck driving the vehicle with the fumes in the car. The car was bought brand new in February, 2023 and has 50,000 miles on it
Over the past year my Bronco Sport has thrown two different codes, powertrain malfunction and collision assist unavailable, and put me in limp mode, 25 times. And the last several times it has gone into limp mode it is accompanied by a weird smell. It has been on the hoist several times at the Ford dealership Service Center having parts replaced to “fix” this issue. But nothing they try has fixed it. They even had a Ford Corporate technician call and walk them through what to try/test/fix. It’s been on the hoist being “fixed” again a couple of times since then. They said they would fly a Ford Engineer out to “fix” it over a month ago but have not done so. It’s terrifying when it goes in to limp mode because I can’t GO. I just pray I don’t get slammed in to every time it throws these codes and puts me in limp mode. The most recent occurrence was just today!
Exhaust is coming into the cabin through the air vent a/c intake. This is unhealthy, and poses a health risk. Ford has yet to acknowledge the problem. I’ve been to the dealer once and they said it was fixed, but the fumes remain unchanged. I have heard that other owners are having the same issue.
I take very good care of my car and I purchased it brand new in July of 2022. Out of nowhere a few days ago I had my car slipping of gear and won’t go forward or backwards and then my car proceeded to have the service light pop on and then my check engine light. I do not have all of the diagnostics back yet, but they did say it was transmission related. My car isn’t even 2 1/2 years old. It should not be running into issues out of no where like this.

This is the 3rd time this vehicle has been in for service in less than three months. The initial two visits were for a differential issue that was not completely resolved. Also, the brakes seem to have unusual wear for the mileage of the vehicle. The current visit is happening as of today and the issues are being diagnosed and appear to be potentially possibly an electrical issue. There is also a very loud squealing sound when I back up and have been told by both the dealership and Ford that it is known but there is not yet a fix. I am on the phone with Ford letting them know I do not feel safe in the vehicle and they advised to file a report here.
I was driving and my trunk just opened up. Now it’s stuck in the open position and won’t shut.
Battery low voltage. I saw NBC spot on recall. I paid for my battery because it was same issue. I work for government & travel at midnight through farms. It’s dark. Could not risk stall out. Parsons Ford - has details. Include mine in please. Pay back Parsons - me for credit on any future needs or a check back to me or them. It was over $300 part & labor. [XXX] [XXX] . Prefer email. I don’t answer phone from unknown numbers. Thanks. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Exhaust fumes fill cabin when car is slowed or stopped. I've had it to dealer once, but hasn't been fixed.
Brakes squeal when backing up.
My moonroof exploded unexpectedly. I was traveling on a 4-lane highway, approximately 60mph. No other cars nearby, no overpasses, no pedestrians anywhere along. Suddenly, it sounded like a shotgun went off inside the vehicle. I pulled over to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the moonroof had broken around the entire perimeter of the glass. I took photos of the moonroof, then removed the broken glass enough to be able to drive directly to the dealership. They have inspected the vehicle, but are refusing to cover the issue under warranty. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety, and the safety of others, was put at risk because: - the sound of the explosion could have caused me to wreck or to wreck into others - the glass from the moonroof could have fallen on me or other passengers in the vehicle - the glass from the moonroof could have flown off the vehicle and struck another vehicle or passers-by. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure.
My truck with dead at a turning light, it's still UNKNOWN what happened. I had 2 people try to give it a boost and it would not turn on, the gears were locked, and it had to be pulled on the tow truck. The brake lights signal was flashing, and the engine light was on the dashboard along with the battery light. I could not get it to turn on and there was no sound to the engine. the radio was working and none of the lights went dim.
We keep getting error messages on the vehicle's information screen that says "The restraints control module has detected a fault with the driver seatbelt buckle sensor circuit". The airbag warning indicator light stays on and the alert occurs numerous times randomly while driving the vehicle. We are afraid that if we get into an accident the airbags might not deploy. We have taken vehicle to dealer for service (it is under new car warranty) and we were told a part is on order, but we've waited for two weeks and we feel unsafe driving it.
The windshield cracked for no reason starting behind the rear view mirror.
After putting car into park and leaving car upon returning and trying to start the gear shift knob will be in reverse position. My shifter is the turning knob on the console which cannot be accidentally turned on less your foot is on the brake. This has happened on more than one occasion. Thank god I don’t park on hills. Have not been to the dealership yet to ask them about this .
The current acceleration pedal on this model is made out of hard plastic. While driving your foot slips off the pedal because there is no rubber on the pedal for a better contact. To counter this slippage you have to move the seat closer to the dash. This then becomes a safety issue because you are now too close to the dash to quickly move your foot to the brake pedal when necessary. There is no after market product offered by Ford to correct this matter. This needs to be addressed quickly so Ford can correct this. I don't know how this could not be noticed by the design managers and test team at Ford.
The wrench icon which refers to the Powertrain system keeps coming on. I received a message from the Ford pass system that there was (Fault) in the Powertrain system. That power was reduced. Further it said to see a dealer right away. All of the Ford Dealers in my area are all booked up.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking space on the park position, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and reversed, striking her mother on the knee. The contact was able to get in the vehicle and depress the brake pedal. An appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,135.

Car had 3000 miles on it, started rough idling randomly then the check engine light came on and was flashing. Drove straight to the Ford Dealership in Elko, Nevada and barely made it the 5 miles as the car wanted to die, had gas pedal all the way to the floor and was barely going 30 mph. Dealer has had vehicle for over a week and said a core and plug and deactivator solenoid had to be replaced.
Engine makes intermittent metal crunching and scraping sounds at low speeds and when braking in stop an go traffic. And sometimes the sound would be heard the all the time when keeping the car between 25 to 30 mph.
Car failed to go into drive several times while in traffic. Was bought with zero miles and started making strange grinding and knocking noises immediately. When I reported it I was told I couldn’t get it checked for a month and that it was safe to drive until appointment. I was soon stuck in the middle of busy intersections because car would not drive after I give it gas and it acted like it was in neutral. This happened every time I stopped until I made it safely home it was very scary because I could have caused an accident not being able to go when needed and was almost stranded in traffic. There were never any warning lights. After having it towed to the dealership I am now being told it could be transmission problems, but it doesn’t seem there is much knowledge on this particular vehicles mechanics or electrical system. Ford has not been honest or in contact with me about situation. Should not be happening at under 1000 miles and after more research seems is a common issue they knew about that they did not fix before selling to me. It has been at the dealership for 3 weeks with little communication or explanation.
