THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, # 96I002000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: FOUNDATION COMPONENTS: HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. 1993 FORD CROWN VICTORIA, I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 8 YEARS,THE ABS PUMP AND HCU FAILED, PARTS WHICH ARE SUPPOSE TO BE DURABLE AND ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, I HAVE 114811 MILES ON THIS CAR AND IT IS IN IMMACULATE CONDITION INSIDE AND OUT, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS THIS CAR SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE,THIS CONDITION WAS DIAGNOSED AND FOUND BY A FORD DEALER. *NM

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND HEARD A POPPING SOUND. THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AND FLUID HAD LEAKED EVERYWHERE. THE OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY SEE QUITE A BIT OF THESE FORD VEHICLES WITH THE SAME DEFECT. *AK *SC *JB
