DT*: THE CONTACT STATED BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT OF THE REAR BRAKE LINE CAUSING THE BRAKES TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, # 96I002000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: FOUNDATION COMPONENTS: HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. 1993 FORD CROWN VICTORIA, I'VE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 8 YEARS,THE ABS PUMP AND HCU FAILED, PARTS WHICH ARE SUPPOSE TO BE DURABLE AND ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, I HAVE 114811 MILES ON THIS CAR AND IT IS IN IMMACULATE CONDITION INSIDE AND OUT, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS THIS CAR SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE,THIS CONDITION WAS DIAGNOSED AND FOUND BY A FORD DEALER. *NM

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND HEARD A POPPING SOUND. THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AND FLUID HAD LEAKED EVERYWHERE. THE OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY SEE QUITE A BIT OF THESE FORD VEHICLES WITH THE SAME DEFECT. *AK *SC *JB

ALSO, WIRING HARNESS IN THE STEERING COLUMN BURNED OUT(IGNITION), CAUSING A FIRE. IN ADDITION, BOLT THAT HOLDS DRIVER'S SEAT TO THE FLOOR CAME OUT WHICH COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO MOVE UNEXPECTEDLY. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

ABS BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING STEERING TO LOCK UP AND NO BRAKING ABILITY, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OIL LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE MADE UNUSUALL NOISES, AND DIDN'T WANT TO MOVE. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. OIL PUMP FAILED TO DISTRIBUTE OIL IN THE ENGINE. ALSO, DEALER CLEANED AND REPAIRED OIL FILTER, AND REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS. *AK
TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE FAILURE/LOCK-UP ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN "BABYED" AND METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED IS OUTRAGEOUS. I CANNOT GET FORD MOTOR CO. TO RETURN MY CALLS. I CAN ONLY IMAGINR WHAT KIND OF HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED IF WE HAD BEEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER'S SHOP ALSO HAD A 95, 97, & 98 CROWN VICS. W/ TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I SUSPECT FORD IS TRYING TO COVER UP A DEFECT.
VEHICLE DOES NOT START UP RIGHT AWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER. WAS INFORMED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO BEING BURNED IN & AROUND THE COLUMN. THE HEATER WIRES HAD BURNED ALSO. THE SEAT ANCHOR BOLTS HAD CAME OUT OF THE FRONT SEAT. PLUGS, WIRES, AND BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED. *AK *ML
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED DURING A PANIC STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, AND BLOWING THE VACUUM ON THE MASTER CYLINDER. VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED BY DEALER. *AK

TT PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS SYSTEM STRTED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED NUMEROUS TIMES, AND MOST OF THE COMPONETS WERE REPLACED, INCLUDING THE DISC PADS BRAKE LINES AND COMPUTER, IT SEEMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED BUT HAS REOCCURED INTERMITTENLY SINCE THEN,THE BRAKES LOCK WHEN COMSING TO A STOP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SKID, WHEN RESUMING TRAVEL THE BRAKES DO NOT ALWAYS RELEASE, THE BRAKES OCCASSIONALLY ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING.*JB
