UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 5 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. VEHICLE GOES OUT OF GEAR AFTER SOMEONE TURNS OFF FROM IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER, THE TRANSMISSION NEUTRALIZES AND THEN BANGS INTO GEAR, THIS IS AT LOW SPEEDS 10-30 MPH, THIS ALSO HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55-70 WHEN ACCELERATING/PASSING ANOTHER CAR. TRANSMISSION REPAIRMAN TOLD ME ALL THE FORD CROWN VICTORIA TRANSMISSIONS DO THIS HE CALLED IT THE KICKDOWN RUN AWAY PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO BREAK AND NEED REPLACING. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES THE DRIVER TO QUICKLY REMOVE FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN ENGINE REVS UP AND COULD CAUSE A REAR END COLLISION FROM QUICK DECELERATION. THIS PROBLEM IS WHAT IS CAUSING POLICE CARS TO NEED TRANSMISSIONS BEING REPLACED AFTER 20000-40000 MILES. THE REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSIONS THAT FOR IS USING TO FIX THESE CARS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. SO AT 40000-100000 MILES THE VEHICLE NEEDS THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AGAIN DUE TO BREAKAGE. *TR

I BOUGHT FORD VICTORIA CROWN MODEL 2005 FROM AN INDIVIDUAL ON DEC. 2009. IT WAS POLICE CAR. AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR WITHIN A MONTHS TIME I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. I LOST CONTROL AND THE BRAKE DIDN'T WORK. IT DIDN'T STOP BY HITTING ONCE, IT WAS AMAZING HITTING BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN. MY CAR OR EVEN THE OTHER CAR DIDN'T HAVE ANY BODY DAMAGE AND AFTER 1 HOUR I STARTED DRIVING AND ON MY WAY HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I GOT OUT OF THE ROAD BUT NO ACCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE GARAGE AND I PAID $800.00 FOR THE MAINTENANCE. I USED THE CAR FOR A TAXI CAB. AGAIN I HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I HAD TO TAKE A CUSTOMER TO THE AIRPORT AND BEFORE I GOT THERE, SMOKE WAS COMING OUT AND I STOPPED THE CAR IN THE AIRPORT GARAGE. THIS TIME IT BECAME COMPLETELY OUT OF SERVICE AND I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE GARAGE. THE RESULT AS THE MECHANIC TESTED SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS TOTALLY OUT OF USE AND NEED ANOTHER ONE. AGAIN TWO MONTHS BACK WHILE DRIVING I LOST CONTROL OF THE BRAKE AND STOP OUT OF THE ROAD. RECENTLY ON SUNDAY DEC. 19, 2010 MAJOR ACCIDENT HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING I COULDN'T CONTROL THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. SO, I HIT THE FENCE ON THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE GARAGE AND WHEN THE MECHANIC TESTED HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING, EVEN HE DID A ROAD TEST. I WAS ADVISED THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS IF I START DRIVING . I CAN SUBMIT ALL MY EXPENSES WHICH I PAID FOR THE MAINTENANCE IF POSSIBLE. THANKS TO A FRIEND WHO GAVE ME INFORMATION TO CHECK ONLINE IF THIS VEHICLE MODEL IS RECALL . UPDATED 01/03/11 *TR

2005 FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE INTERCEPTOR WITH 47,410 MILES BEGAN HAVING REAR AXLE NOISE. UPON SERVICE IN OUR SHOP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE REAR AXLE BEARINGS HAD FAILED AND WORN INTO THE AXLE SHAFT. CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THERE WAS NO WARRANTY LEFT. WE THEN STARTED CHECKING THE OTHER 10, 2005 CROWN VICTORIAS FOR THIS ISSUE. SO FAR OUT OF THE ENTIRE 11 CARS WE HAVE CHECKED 6 AND THEY ALL ARE SHOWING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THAT WHEN THESE CARS GET BETWEEN 45,000 TO 50,000 MILES IT SHOWS THE WEAR AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED AND THEY DIDN'T OFFER BUT $100 ASSISTANCE, JUST THE PARTS IS OVER $450 EXCLUDING LABOR. THE LOCAL DEALER SAID IT WOULD BE AROUND $750 TO REPAIR IN THEIR SHOP. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH IT BEING A POLICE CAR THAT'S AFFECTED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A FORD DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE CONTACT, WHO IS ALSO A MECHANIC, CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND ALSO NOTICED THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES ON VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
