Our engine seized due to a safety recall while traveling on a major interstate. We received notice of the safety recall from Ford and asked to have it fixed by our local dealership. This was August 20, 2025. We were told by the dealership’s service manager that there were 2 or 3 cars ahead of us and call back the first of September. We again asked to get scheduled and were told there were cars ahead of us. We once again asked about the recall and having it repaired on Oct. 21, 2025. We was told it couldn’t be scheduled at the time and it should be okay for us to go on our scheduled 8 hour trip. The car seized on Oct. 26, 2025 and we were 4 hours away from home. At that time, we had to have it towed to local dealership there and were stranded. The low oil light came on just minutes before it seized. We contacted the state police to be there with us as we waited for help and had to pay to stay overnight. Our car is still 4 hours away and is supposed to be fixed as soon as the engine comes in. This was a safety recall and we were advised to travel in a car which was not safe and Ford knew it. We do not have any paperwork except the safety recall as it has not been repaired.

I contacted the local Ford dealer, Confidence of Norman in Oklahoma, twice regarding correspondence from Ford about the ongoing recall. I had made appointments on both occasions. During my first visit, the dealership representative stated that they would only address the issue if my vehicle had an actual malfunction and would take no action in the meantime. Last week, I scheduled a follow-up appointment after receiving another letter from Ford. This appointment took place today; however, I was again refused service. The dealership claimed that, despite my scheduled appointment, they lacked the necessary tools to perform the repairs. They did not offer an alternative appointment or provide an estimated timeline for when the issue might be fixed. Ultimately, their response indicated that my visit was unproductive. Besides this complaint, I don’t know what else I can do to fix this problem.

My vehicle falls under a recall due to the oil tensioner belt. I experienced a problem where the engine wasn’t allowing me to accelerate over certain speeds. The car has been experiencing the same issue even after multiple attempts to fix the car. I had the engine replaced once & four days later the engine blew while I was traveling down a hill. I had no control over the vehicle and as it continued to glide down the hill, I anxiously turned on my hazards afraid of what I was about to face. The dealership determined that the engine had blown again & that they would rectify the situation yet again. I received notice that after yet another replacement engine, the car was test driven and is chattering. My car has been in the shop for over two months and after multiple attempts of trying to fix the recall, I would feel rather unsafe to drive the vehicle again.

Sep 2, 2025

I was driving and all of a sudden I received a low oil pressure alert on my care and within a min my car lost all power and was completely unable to accelerate. It is currently in the shop and they said it will be months before it is repaired.

I received a recall on my vehicle February 2024 and still the parts are not available. Now I am having issues with my vehicle making it unsafe for me and my son to get to and from school and work etc. This is my only vehicle I have! I need my car repaired ASAP and I need another vehicle until mine gets fixed.

I own a 2019 Ford EcoSport, VIN [XXX] , which is subject to recall 23S64 / 23V905 (Engine Oil Pump Belt and Tensioner Replacement - Final Repair). I was informed of this recall in June 2024, yet Ford has advised there is currently no available remedy. This is a serious safety concern. Under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301 and the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act, manufacturers must correct safety defects within a reasonable time and at no cost. Ford's failure to provide a repair, replacement, or refund is a violation of these obligations. I request NHTSA's urgent attention to compel Ford to resolve this recall promptly. Engine oil pump belt tension

Jul 10, 2025

I have had the same issue with my Ecosport since 04/2022 and have taken it to the ford dealership and been in contact with ford corporate multiple times. In March 2023 I had to replace the engine because it finally completely froze up and was told it was do to the oil pump tensioner. This was the fifth time I had taken it in. The check engine light came back on as soon as I left the dealership, I was told it just needed to reset. It started having issues again in August 2023 and every time I took it in it has been dismissed. I have spent thousands of dollars on repairs for this SUV. Today the check engine light came back on and it smells like smoke if you try to drive it, along with it being very slow to pick up speed and making the same odd noise as before the motor locked up the last time. I contacted ford and made another appointment today to get it checked. I also contacted ford customer service and was told that there is nothing they can do that I will once again be responsible for the cost of all repairs because the recall is not completely in place. This vehicle is not fixable or safe to drive. Ford informed me that the vehicle is now to old for them to be responsible for the fact that the car is not fixable despite the fact that they have been trying to fix it and charging me thousands of dollars while I am still paying on it. And knowing it was unsafe

Was driving down highway when I lost power and it started whistling and a warning sounded said low oil pressure so I pulled over and had to be towed home. When I received my recall letter I took it to my local ford dealer In Covington indiana and they told me they couldn't get the parts but would contact me when they came and they neverdid. So I called them back after this happened and they said they couldn't get these parts sent to them that I would have to find a bigger dealership. Now I have to pay for a tow to Lebanon Indiana they can't get it in until July 23rd for diagnosis and no loaner. So I am without answers or a vehicle for almost a month...

Jul 3, 2025

I am filing a complaint regarding Ford Recall 23S64 on my 2019 Ford EcoSport. My vehicle is showing a solid red low oil pressure warning, which Ford’s own documents state can result in engine failure while driving. I contacted my Ford dealership, and they confirmed I am part of the recall but told me to keep driving the vehicle until the engine fails, even though this clearly poses a serious safety risk to myself and others on the road. They also said it would be 3 weeks before I can receive a loaner vehicle. I then called Ford’s official customer service number (800‑392‑3673) and was met with dismissive and rude behavior. My concerns about the safety of operating a vehicle with an active engine defect were not taken seriously. I explained that I rely on this car for income and have no safe alternative right now. I’m being told to knowingly drive a car with a known oil pump defect that could result in sudden engine seizure, while Ford delays parts and offers no timely solution. This creates a serious safety issue for me and for others on the road. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this further and that Ford be required to take urgent action to provide safe alternatives to affected drivers before their engines fail.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The issue appears to be related to the powertrain system, specifically the belt tension or transmission shifting components. A “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” warning message appeared through the FordPass app, and I have also been experiencing jerking or hesitation when applying pressure to the gas pedal, particularly during gear shifts. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ⸻ How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The unexpected jerking and reduction in power while driving could pose a serious safety risk, especially when merging onto highways or changing lanes, where smooth acceleration is critical. This behavior could result in a loss of control or increase the likelihood of a rear-end collision in traffic. ⸻ Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? An independent mechanic has reviewed the issue and suspects that it may be related to the previously reported belt tension recall, although my specific vehicle VIN was not included in that recall group. The mechanic observed the jerking and powertrain alert and recommended further inspection. ⸻ Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. I am currently in the process of filing this report and seeking guidance from the manufacturer to determine the next steps for inspection and resolution. ⸻ Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” message appeared via the FordPass app. Prior to the alert, I had noticed intermittent jerking and hesitation during acceleration, which became more noticeable within the last few weeks leading up to the warning

Engine failed one me [XXX] it sat in my drive until it made its way to Sarasota Ford on July 9, 2024. I have no been able to drive this car at all for about 2 years now. (July 9th, 2024 - 5/2025) When driving the car it goes from 40mph to 9mph in the middle of traffic putting not only mi life in danger but others. I have compiled to the motor company about how dangerous this car is. My car has had about 3 engines and still has the same problem the recall was put out for. I was told that after so many times of them trying to fix the car and it’s still Not working they have to replace are car by putting us in the same year or newer year make and model but ford doesn’t want to do so they just want to keep replacing and installing engines that obviously has the recall problem. My car has recently got repossessed due prolonged non-use. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My car went more than 30 days ago for service due to a serious call Recall# 23s64-23v9085, where I have been patiently waiting due to the parts being unavailable due to the parts not being in, and I stayed stranded with my autistic child in the middle of the turnpike without any power whatsoever to the vehicle putting my life iand my family in danger, the car I towed to the dealer and the engine had to be changed as a result of the recall, however the dealer is now telling me they need to charge me for a throtle manifold part wihich works with the engine to make the car function. They want me to pay for the part that should be covered through the recall, because this is a vital part of the engine functionality. I am very disappointed with the Gus Machado ford dealer, because they have said that if I do the part, I will take the car home with a tow truck and my car will not accelerate. As a result, they are trying to charge me for something that is part of the engine functionality. I feel disrespected that they have had to change the engine due to this recall but will not complete the work, as again, this is a vital part of the engine functionality.

It has been one year from the first recall and they keep putting the repair off I think they have had plenty of time to make these parts I think they don't want to fix these cars in hopes that we will forget or they can blame us for this mistake that they made . My car went to the dealership service department to be fixed because the recall piece broke in December. Middle of February they told me it was all fixed I picked it up and within 8 hours it wasn’t driving right and had a bunch of alerts. I tried to drive it home it broke down in 2 degrees weather, I was stranded for 35 minutes with no heat. The dealership got the car back had it for a few more weeks. Today they called saying they think it will be fixed. They called this afternoon saying they took it for the test drive and it wouldn’t work.

Component that failed was engine oil belt and tensioner. Car almost died right on highway. Dealer has confirmed. Dealer has inspected it.

I realize there is an open recall of 23V905. As well, my vehicle did experience a loss of oil pressure which caused the engine to fail. My local Ford Dealership DID replace the engine. However, the recall is still open given the fact the oil pump is still part of the original recall. My frustration is that this recall has been opened since February 2024 and there is no time frame of the repair and closing of the recall and Ford Motor Company refuses to take a complaint on it and has not communicated to their dealerships as to the time frame.

My car is at risk it has a powertrain and a w d failure when I am driving in the middle of the street or the expressway it stops in the middle of the expressway and loses power loses everything where me and my family could be at risk for a very serious accident leading to death in the middle of the highway or in the middle of the road as I am driving the car loses power and stops in the middle of the road. The manufacturer should be responsible for this because this is obviously something that needs to be fixed where it could be causing my death or my family's death while on the road. My car stops more than six times from the moment that I leave my house even as I am on the road it will literally stop 5 to 6 times losing power in the middle of the street that could cause a potential situation or deathly this needs to be fixed as soon as possible. I should not be responsible for these damages because it is obviously a malfunction of the manufacturer.

Oil pump has failed due to recall. There is supposed to be an interim fix if your oil pump fails but Ford is telling me there is nothing they can do until Spring of next year. The oil pump failed in May. Resulting in blowing my motor. Broke down at a red light which I would say is unsafe !!! My car has been at the ford dealership in Athens since May. I need a car!! I haven’t had a car since may . I’m not paying for a rental weekly when I wouldn’t even be without a car if not for this recall. I need something done to get me a working drivable car!

On [XXX] a low engine oil pressure light came on. I checked my oil and it was fine. I contacted ford and they told me there was a recall but my car was still safe to drive. On [XXX] the engine light came on as well as the same warning. Upon leaving work my car lost acceleration and all power to the car including the brakes. I had it towed to ciocca ford of york pa. I am now without a car and keep getting the run around about approval for a loaner car. I am unable to trade the car in since it will be at the dealership for a lengthy time which is affecting my chances of getting financing for another vehicle since I still have an auto loan. How long is Ford going to get away with no remedy for this? They have been aware of this issue for years. They definitely knew about it when they sold vehicle to me. Of course I wasn't informed by dealer. Now I've had to limit driving for fear mine will succumb to this problem. Vehicle is coming up on 60,000 miles, which is when problem arises in many cases. What is my recourse.? Just stuck paying $35,000 for a vehicle I was misled into purchasing? Got three more years paying $500 a month for car I'm afraid to drive. Check engine light is on more than off. Ford should be accountable. For amount they make, to be knowingly selling a defective product is shameful. Please give this recall the attention it deserves.Stop allowing Ford to ignore whatever fix it is going to take. Which seems is going to be replacing engine. Another inferior engine, no doubt. Hell owners will be still stuck with product that should have been remedied many, many years ago. This wet belt design doesn't last. Repair is quite costly. Something Ford is well aware of. They still keep right on selling cars with these motors they know are crap. Something should have been done about this long time ago, in my opinion.

system failure do to recall. part not available I'm out of a car that I pay a note but can't drive at all

Jun 24, 2024

Almost 6 months ago, my car began to malfunction. It would not start at all. I paid $500 to have a mechanic diagnose the issue and replace the battery, but nothin worked. I had to have the car towed to the Ford dealership, and they advised me that my engine had failed due to a defect in the fuel pump tensioner, which was an issue that was under recall. They told that they could not do anything to repair the issue, however, because the recall had not been officially published. It has now been nearly six months with my vehicle sitting at the dealership, unusable, because Ford refuses to repair it until the recall comes out. They have also refused to provide a rental or loaner car so I have been out of a vehicle.

My cars engine seized up and almost crashed into someone

Jun 7, 2024

My car can no longer accelerate and multiple lights came on, this all happened while i was driving and there was no warning signs that my car was about to do that it just happened out of nowhere while I was driving it.Now I can’t drive my vehicle until it is repaired but the recall parts are still not available so I don’t know what to do to fix my car.

Jun 5, 2024

The vehicle experiences a sudden loss of power/acceleration randomly. Sometimes this happens while driving on the freeway and I cannot accelerate to move to the shoulder. Other times, I can accelerate but very slowly. When this happens, the check engine light will come on and I also receive a powertrain malfunction alert on my Ford app. This issue first occurred on [XXX] - I had to have it towed to Ford. They stated it was the battery then, so I purchased a new one. I brought the vehicle back to Ford for the same issue on [XXX], and then on [XXX] I was driving on the beltway and lost complete acceleration of the car. The check engine light and powertrain light came on. The vehicle would not drive. I had it towed to Ford and they had replaced the engine under the original manufacturing warranty. I got the vehicle back on 10/3/23. Even after replacing the engine, I started to experience the same issue. I brought the car back to Ford on [XXX]. Then once again I brought it back to Ford on [XXX]. On 4/30/24 they said the vehicle was ready to be picked up and the part was covered under the Service warranty so I only paid $100. Within 1 mile of leaving the dealership, my powertrain malfunction light came on and my vehicle lost power, I could only accelerate up to 30mph. I drove the car straight back to Ford. They then called me on May 28th/24 and said they replaced 2 more parts and the car was fixed. Within 3 miles of leaving Ford, once again the powertrain malfunction light came on and I could not accelerate over 40mph. I drove the car back to Ford and it is still there now. I believe the component that failed is engine oil pump belt tensioner this is a recalled item. It is available for inspection however it cannot be checked out by Ford itself. I have notified 3 dealerships and they all stated that the part will be available in the second quarter and that's it. My car cannot run properly the brakes don't work the engine is making noises and I have a low oil pressure light on. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk when my brakes stopped working while I was driving it. The problem has not been confirmed because they won't let me drop it off until later on this month. My car isn't working and it's the only car I have. There was an low oil pressure light as well as my check engine light. My car engine was making rattling noises and my transmission is having issues shifting. This first appeared June 28th 2024. The Ford company has lied to me and told me that even though there is a recall on my car that it is still drivable.

I have a 2019 ford ecosport se that is affected with the Engine oil pump belt tensioner replacement ford has done absolutely nothing to help the problem I have been without a vehicle since Jan. In January me and my wife were driving and all of a sudden the low engine pressure light came on and the vehicle slowly started getting slow and we pulled off to the side of the road and had it towed to the CASA ford dealership in Las Cruces NM 470 W Boutz Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88005 575-525-4500 and the diagnostic the vehicle letting me know the vehicle is affected due to this recall and they have submitted documents to ford but nothing has been told to me other then there waiting on ford because the recall still says remedy incomplete. I have been paying on the vehicle and have told the dealership and ford company about a loaner something that me and my wife have been without a vehicle. Ford needs to fix there mistake I have been without a vehicle for 5 months know not knowing anything.

May 22, 2024

In 2022 of July-August. No lights came on to warn me or anything and my engine went completely out. I took it in and it was the oil pressure that caused my engine to fail. I had to get a new engine, transmission, and a whole bunch of other new things done to my car. AFTER repairs covered by warranty I continue driving and right away I noticed my car making weird noises (like whirring and purring). I took it into ANOTHER ford dealership. This dealership told me that the OTHER dealership did the repairs all wrong and that my car was a mess under the hood…and BOTH dealerships argued who was going to pay for the repairs . To this day I still hear the whirring even though they claim it’s fixed . Surprise ford of Arizona was the dealership that did repairs, and the Milford Ford was the second dealer who claims the repairs were horrible and screws were loose etc right in front of me(I called ford during this conversation to have it recorded) I have a [XXX] son and I fear to drive my car everyday. I have asked ford to repurchase my vehicle TWICE and no remedy has been done. Now for 3 months of being aware of the recall nothing has been done . May 8, 2024

In June 2023, I had to replace the engine on the 2018 Ecosport at the cost of approximately $6000.00. The explanation on the bill was due to problems with the "oil pump" I received a letter from Form recalling the car for repairs Jan 1, 2024 for exactly the same problem that I haad to spend 6000.00 dollars to repair and they still have not repaired the issue on the recall notice. If the car's engine fails AGAIN...because they still have not fixed the issue who will be responsible for the second engine that would have to be replaced in the vehicle?

My newly purchased 2019 Ford eco-sport with under 40000 miles started having engine malfunctions, and would not accelerate at all. I had it towed to joey Meyers and was told they needed to replace the engine. I had it replaced in October 2023, Which took two months, and now I am Having the same exact engine light come on and my car is slow to accelerate even after replacing the engine. 4 weeks ago I brought the vehicle back to Joe Meyers ford and was told that “ this is a new issue and the parts that need to be replaced are technically “outside” of the engine so not covered under warranty “ the repair invoice total that was quoted to me is $2400. I refused to pay this because I don’t understand how the engine is replaced and three months later I have the same issue but ford is saying it’s now a new engine problem. Since then, I checked online to see if there have been any recalls on the vehicle and was shocked to see Jan 04,2024 Manufacturer Recall Number 23S64 NHTSA Recall Number 23V905. Not once did anyone at ford tell me that there is a recall on my vehicle that is stating the exact issues I am experiencing. I am a single mother of 3 children and work full time therefore I am concerned about my childrens safety while driving this vehicle. The vehicle experiences sudden loss of power while driving at high speeds on the freeway.

On April 2nd, my cars dash said “low oil engine pressure” with a severe dinging noise. I got an oil change and they said to take it to a mechanic, my local mechanic said the oil pump belt drive was at a loss of pressure, resulting in damage to my engine and oil pump. On 4/2/24 My local mechanic refused to fix it due to the recall and said that it should be fixed at Fords expense. On 4/14/24 I got my car towed to the Ford Dealer with my AAA membership, by the next day 4/15 I talked with service and we did not agree to a diagnosis because I knew parts would be out regardless of the diagnosis due to the Letter I received. The dealership was insisting on a diagnosis but I could not afford it out of pocket and Ford agreed that regardless of what the diagnosis said, parts for the low oil engine pressure are not available and could not be expedited because my vehicle doesn’t run. They said my car could only sit for two weeks at the dealership since it is not actively seeking parts. They are looking for me to pay out-of-pocket until the program becomes available when the second part of the issue for recall is noticed. Ford issued a recall but said parts wouldn’t be available until approximately August/24 or possibly later. Ford has not offered me any solution to this matter and they are not taking accountability for putting a defective product on the road. I have seen over 136k Ford Ecosport models 2018-2022 have been reporting this issue. My car is unsafe to drive.

On [XXX], my 2019 Ford EcoSport came up with an alert that indicated to "see manual"; the manual indicated that this alert is due to the Powertrain. Hours later, I receive an alert with the engine oil symbol about the engine oil pressure low followed by the engine light appearing. I was able to get it into my dealership (Venus Ewald Ford in Cudahy, WI) the next day; it was informed to me later that day that these symptoms were due to the recall associated with the vehicle. It was a hassle obtaining a rental vehicle as the warranty states it "can only be a Ford Vehicle" I was told. On [XXX], I received a call from the dealership indicating that my rental vehicle was extended as they were waiting on a specific part from Ford. It is now [XXX] and I have not heard anything since 4/05/2024 about the vehicle's status. Moreover, I was informed I would have to pay a deductible which I should not have to as indicated it was all due to the recall and the letter I received regarding the recall states the "repair will be free of charge (parts and labor)." I have experience powertrain malfunctions, loss of engine power since June 2023. I had to have my vehicle towed to ford because I had no engine power. The engine was replaced in October and I still am experiencing the same exact issue. The engine light and power train malfunction alerts. I have reduced power and braking while driving. I brought the ecosport back to ford on March 22 2024 and I was quoted $2400 to replace the engine oil pump belt tensioner .when I brought in my vehicle I was never told by ford that this is the exact part that my vehicle has a recall on. My car still has not been fixed and is a safety hazard.

On Feb 12th 2024 the low engine pressure light came on then went off. Then When I was driving on March 10th 2024 I was hearing loud noises as I was driving and then it was driving very slow. The next day March 11th 2024 as I was at a red light the car stopped working and the oil pressure light came on as well as the engine light and it said low oil pressure and engine failure on the screen. But before all of this i haven’t had a problem with this and I just got the car 4 months ago. But now all this is happening and I had to tow my car to the ford dealership because it won’t work or turn on anymore due to this recall issue. And now my car is in the shop with no remedy to fix it and I still have to make monthly payments on it.

Feb 27, 2024

During my commute from work on 9/19/22 in my 2019 Ford EcoSport my oil pressure light came on and I lost all engine power. A low oil pressure notification came across the vehicle's gauge system (above the steering wheel). I was able to get the vehicle home and contacted Conway Ford. After discussion with Conway Ford, I was told I could pay $600 for them to diagnose the vehicle. I reached out to my local mechanic, and he let me know that many of this make and model vehicle were having this same issue. He indicated I would need a new motor due to the way the vehicle was build. I spoke to the local dealership again and was told there were no replacement motors available for purchase. After paying for a vehicle for 18 months that cannot be driven and must be registered and insured (due to the car loan) I reached out Ford Motor beginning in January of 2024 after seeing information on a recall of EcoSports. Ford Motor said they would have a letter coming to me in February and a remedy for these vehicles. The letter was received, but indicated that there is no remedy available at this time and they are hoping to have one at some point in the second quarter of the year. I again reached out to Ford Motor and asked how they intended to handle this and offering no solution they asked me what I wanted. I requested they buy the vehicle back. After several phone calls, Ford Motor agreed to review the vehicle and consider it for buy back and after getting the run around I was denied for the buy back and told I could reach out to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). However, since the vehicle was purchased more than 365 days ago, the BBB recommended I contact Consumer Affairs and NHTSA.

On 2/9/24 my Ford Ecosport went into complete engine failure. The dash indicator lights for oil pressure low/check engine light/powertrain malfunction while on my way home from work. I was in the turning lane at a stop light when the car died. The car lost all power and would not even turn on to get into a safe area. After pushing the car to the side- I had to call a tow truck ($154) to have the car transported to Ford. There they ran their diagnostic test ($225) and it was found to have the faulty oil pump. Because this "recall" I am told is only a "notice" - the cost to fix the car is quoted at ($9000) as it needs a whole new engine now. I am told they have "no clue" when they can fix it and I am now out a car and transportation to my full time job. I have had to rent a car (not in my name as I could not) $ 571- month- Ford refused to give me a loaner vehicle due to it not being a recall also - I contacted Ford and was told the same thing.

Feb 19, 2024

Wednesday [XXX] as I am driving to pick up my son from work — my car was making a rattling noise - I took it to get an oil change prior to picking up my son as it was coming up due for one — and as I begin driving to pick up my son the Low Engine oil pressure light came on. I contacted ford motor company and created a case immediately. They informed me my next steps were to take car to dealership for a diagnosis. They assured me that the issue would be taken care of that ford has given them separate instructions for this recall specifically as they are aware it is serious and potentially costly that the dealership can contact (SSC?)- their internal department and request for repair coverage and rental coverage — Thursday [XXX] I took my vehicle as requested. A loner vehicle was delivered to me on 2.18 thanks to Dan at Elder Ford of Tampa. Today [XXX] I am notified by my service advisor that the vehicle needs a new engine due to the issue. He put in two case requests one for rental and one for repair coverage but they have not heard back from ford motor company — I called ford motor company client relations again today and keep being told that because it’s an advanced recall they will notify dealers when they have the remedy and/or parts by second quarter this year — I understand for those who the issue has not yet impacted their vehicles however that doesn’t apply to me I have an inoperable vehicle and I’m stuck waiting to get confirmation of coverage for a repair I cannot afford and for a rental I cannot afford for a defective product sold to me by ford. I drive my 7 year old to and from school and after school activities I am grateful we didn’t crash or something worse didn’t happen to us. Here I am 5 days later with no resolution and no commitment from Ford Motor Company on the coverage for the loner vehicle or the repairs. - The engine oil pressure was lost due to the manufacture of the vehicle and now our vehicle is currently in the hop. We do not have reliable transportation to work. - Engine went down in the middle of the highway which cost our lives at risk -Problem has not been reproduced. - Has not been inspected - No warning I am needing to get in touch with Ford manufacture to supply a solution for providing me with transportation to my job. I have spent over +14,000 in car payment to have a reliable vehicle and for me to not have a car due to the manufacture is inexcusable. I am needing a rental car to assist me with my request. I cannot wait for 4 months until the "parts" to come into a dealership for my car to be repaired.

Feb 15, 2024

Our vehicle has had turbo problems for over a year and a half. The turbo was replaced once. Problems with rev hang and transmission rpm increasing randomly started happening. Then came the smell of gas/oil. The dealership had said it must be an internal problem because they couldn't find anything. Then most recently it was low oil pressure and the car dropping speed on the highway and not being able to get up to speed. It started making a rattling/clinking noise and wasn't driving well at all. It was towed on January 22, 2024, to the dealership. It has been at the dealership for three weeks now. The dealership is waiting on word from Ford on what to do for us because we are still under warranty.

Feb 15, 2024

I tried contacting Ford and they told me to contact the dealer. My car smells like burnt oil and then I got this recall notice. I called Yark and Brondes dealerships and both refuse to do a diagnostic on my car unless I pay them for a 1/2 day's wages or $160 or more. They both acknowledged knowing about the recall. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and am really upset they won't do a free diagnostic to confirm I do not have a fractured engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm. My Powertrain is still under warranty, and they still will not do the diagnostic free unless I have a problem. If I do have a problem, they don't have the part to fix it. In the meantime, I risk burning up my engine or having it catch on fire. I park my car in an attached garage so a potential car fire while in my garage is a risk to my safety. The car could literally burn down my house. I am told Ford won't issue parts until 2nd quarter of 2024. In the meantime, the dealerships and Ford will not help their customers and just leave them stranded. I had a Ford Milan, and they did this stall tactic on the Takata airbags. I never did get that recall completed and I tried to get the dealers to replace it multiple times. I finally was forced to turn the car in for a new lease. I was too scared to drive it. I hope you can help me. I am more than willing to let you inspect my car anytime. The engine warning light has not yet come on but when I turn off the car it does smell like burnt oil. I have kept up on all oil changes. I don't see oil leaking onto garage floor. Bottom line my safety is being put at risk while Ford plays the waiting game for profit. I am a senior and disabled. My only way of getting around is this car since I live in the country.

Feb 8, 2024

While driving at freeway speed, no oil pressure warning came on and car lost power, pulled to side of highway and checked oil level, oil level fine (had just had it in to a ford dealer for service 3 days prior). Took immediately to closest ford dealer who refused to look at it (suspicious). Had it towed to family mechanic, who was able to ascertain (through research) this possible oil pump issue. Towed to closest ford dealer, who claimed it would be ready in 2 weeks. Took two months, requiring rental of car (was moving across country) and then payment of transport of vehicle across country. No communication or very little with only a “will be ready any day now” for the two months. At this point I am looking for reimbursement for the repairs along with reimbursement for additional costs incurred. (I also had to fly my finances to our new home, as she would not fit in the moving truck with her seeing eye dog).

Feb 5, 2024

While driving on the highway my car started making a clicking and knocking sound, sputtering. Then a loud sound and my oil pressure and engine light came on. I couldn’t accelerate anymore. I pulled over and had it towed.

Feb 5, 2024

Received an oil pressure error message. Came on and went off multiple times. Finally came on and stayed on. Car started driving sluggishly and check engine light came on. Before I could find a place to safely pull over, the wrench icon appeared and my car lurched forward twice and then the battery light came on. I was able to put on my flashers and pull off the side of the road right before the car died. It would not even restart. I had to call for a tow and it was taken to a local Ford Dealership. It was inspected and verified that the issue was due to the recall on the vehicle and that a new motor and turbo are needed. The dealership was however told that Ford would not cover the cost of repairs because the recall is still in advance status. They were instructed to tell me I could pay the $5,600 for repairs and keep receipts to try to get reimbursed at a later date. They will not repair at their cost nor will they issue me a loaner vehicle.

I was attempting to get on interstate 480, and was having a hard time accelerating. I almost got hit from behind on several occasions as I worked my way back off the freeway. I’ve been advised that my engine is no good.

Jan 17, 2024

I was driving the car and the "low engine oil pressure" light came on and warning sounds were also providing attention. The car egine started to make grinding noises. I pulled into the closest safe parking lot and truned off the car.

Jan 16, 2024

When I was driving on the freeway about an hour away from home, I got a light on my dash for "Low oil pressure." I immediately pulled off to the side and turned my car off. In the middle of a rainstorm and in the dark I checked under the hood and checked the oil level and it was normal. Remind you I got oil changes very frequently when recommended and at this time I got an oil change about 4 weeks before. I called a tow serve to have my car taken to my local mechanics shop. Immediately, the mechanic thought the worst and said it sounds like it might be an engine rebuild. He saw this issue before on other Ecosports as of recently with a degrading wet oil belt. That is what this issue was. The oil belt teeth were degrading and the arm holding the oil pump belt separated, causing loss of engine oil pressure. My engine was replaced after a week of being in the shop and it came with a very expensive mechanics bill.

recall Out of nowhere my car began to struggle to accelerate and ultimately in the middle of driving up a rather steep hill, my car cut off on me completely i almost collided with another car trying to get out of the middle of the road because the car was showing down significantly. the engine light and the oil light came on and a "low engine oil pressure" alert was coming on as well. this problem began three months before cutting off on me on the road and ford tried to tell me it was from not getting frequent oil changes and that was not correct my car was up to date. they quoted be me $10,000 for repairs and offered me $800 for my car based off of these problems when a trade in was suggested. i know they were trying to take advantage of me. i have no other vehicle i need this car to transport my child. when i check my service records on the app it conveniently states that the work done was unknown but i paid to have the problem diagnosed and for a rental which wasn't covered because i was only 300 miles over the warranty. i have spent countless dollars on rentals and ubers because my car is not drivable. i need my car fixed completely and reimbursement for money spent on rental cars and ubers for a problem ford had BEEN known about.

Oil pump belt broke and created engine damage on the way to the Ford dealership.

Jan 7, 2024

August 29, 2023 I was coming to a stop sign and when accelerating from the stop noticed a clung sound from the engine bay of the vehicle and then the low oil pressure warning illuminated. I immediately pulled off the road and shut down the car. I checked the oil level it is good so I had the car towed to my local Ford dealer. They determined that the engine oil pump tensioner let loose and causing catastrophic damage requiring an engine replacement. My vehicle was affected by the service bulletin built before April Ford offered no assistance for me since failure occurred 77800 I’ve owned the vehicle around 7 months at the time bought at 65000 did not receive my vehicle back until mid October with no assistance on a rental vehicle or with the 6000+ repair bill.

Jan 6, 2024

I was driving down the highway and lost complete power. Luckily was able to pull on shoulder before being hit by other vehicles on the road. Ecosport would no longer power on. Had towed and learned that the timing belt had failed due to lack of oil pressure. According to ford, the only way to fix the issue was by replacing the entire motor which took over 3 months to repair. The new motor sounds terrible and scares me every day now. I’m just waiting for a repeat.

Jan 6, 2024

I was on my way to work and I had a notice of low engine pressure and my check engine light and maintenance signal came on. It felt as though the car could not accelerate and I heard a "whistle sound". I had just had the oil change a few days prior and nothing was found wrong then. I had it taken to the dealership and they said I will need an entirely new engine and that there were metal and rubber pieces in my oil and in my oil filter. The Moses Ford dealership has told me it is at least 3 to 4 months wait for an engine(currently has been waiting for 1 month now) and has refused to give me loaner vehicle. Ford has also refused to help with a loaner unless I pay for it and my warranty company has also said they cannot help with a long term loaner vehicle (only 10 days would be covered)

January 2nd 2024 at 4:45pm driving at the speed of 57 mph on the highway. Alert appeared on my dashboard Low Engine Fuel. The vehicle was slowing down and there was a loud knocking sounds. My safety was at risk due to ongoing traffic which my speed was dangerously reduced. I was able to make it to the Ford AutoNation Dealership which conducted a diagnostic test results was an engine replacement. Ford Dealer never brought up a recall on the engine oil pump part. I had to notify them after finding out myself with research. CarFax and KellyBlue sent out alerts about this after my accident on January 4th 2024. The vehicle has been in great condition with upkeep of oil changes, tire rotations and brakes. All of the vehicle services and repair was at a Ford dealership. Currently my vehicle mileage is 64,861.

Jan 4, 2024

My drive belt or timing belt or something broke earlier this year due to unknown reasons, while travelling 65 mph on the highway. I have been unable to afford repair and was even without a vehicle for an extended period of time because of this. The engine required a special tool for my repair person to fully determine the cause and issue. However, since he did not own said tool, the engine has not been fully assessed. However, the engine no longer works and the vehicle does not run. It has remained parked for months. I saw that the NHTSA was investigating potentially faulty oil pumps on these vehicles (2019 Ford EcoSport) and believe that this issue also affected my vehicle, as well. It would explain a lot of unexplained things. I purchased the vehicle brand new from the dealership. My name is [XXX] on the purchase documents, however it was legally changed to [XXX] afterwards. After a few near death experiences and being stranded several times, my 2019 Ford EcoSport has had a new Sync 3 system, EVAP, and 2 “new” engines. And it’s still not functioning properly. (Was shooting out black smoke, jerking, stalling, screen blackout.) Jerking and the screen blacks out. But according to Ford, it’s ok to drive. Might be the transmission -after a complete diagnostic test and test drive. The car cuts off (not from the start/stop feature).

It gave me an engine code saying there was a connection issue but the car was drivable and that i needed to schedule service. No code saying your engine is failing. It was the holidays. Dealers were closing so i figured I'd call and schedule it for service. Never got the chance as it seized up on the interstate at 60mph. Thankfully i was able to safely get it to the emergency lane and then towed to the dealer. They are now saying i need a new engine due to oil pump failure and are refusing to cover the cost. I feel like this is due to there malfunction and they should be responsible.

So back on June 25th, I noticed that I got a low oil pressure warning on my dashboard and a wrench and red oil icon on the dashboard as well. I got my oil checked at Take 5 and they said oil level was o good and to see a mechanic. I took it to Midas next door, and I had total engine fail from a broken timing belt, and a broken oil pump. I had got this car used at 47k miles and had to replace the engine at 52k miles for $9,000. This car even had issues with it going into limp mode but Midas fixed it while I spent hundreds at Ford for diagnostics and they couldn’t figure it out. This seems to be a common problem with Ford EcoSport and hopefully there can be an investigation into the poor design of their engine and turbo boost. On the evening of 12/20/2023 suddenly the loss of engine oil pressure with an illuminated oil pressure warning lamp came on and the engine started knocking loudly. Then as we pulled out of traffic into a parking lot spot it died and would not restart. We were in heavy traffic and if we were not able to exit as quickly as we did our family would have been stranded and blocking in the heavy traffic. Was able to start it after it cooled but the engine continued to knock and within 1 minute the oil pressure warning lamp came on. We have not taken it to a repair shop as it is at 61k miles. I started my car to go home and my engine light and oil light and maintenance light all came on and my car would not drive over 45mphs. When you would press the gas, it would stall for a second. Thursday, I went for my oil change and was turned away due to the sound of my car and also the man smelled my dipstick and gas was in my oil. I was told to immediately take my car to the shop. The car shop has had my car for about a week and half and reached out at first saying that my problem was my camshaft and also turbo with a few other codes. Oil flow light came on and I went to Walmart to have oil changed and to make sure oil filter was good. went to leave Walmart and oil flow light came on again. they took back in to take another look at it and could find anything noticeable. I was then told I should take it to a mechanic cause to him it seemed like the fuel pump wasn't flowing oil properly. I started home and while on the interstate I started smelling gas and the car started making a very loud whistling noise, like a teacup whistle. I was going 70mph and all of a sudden, the car jerked and quickly went to 30mph with all lights coming on. Had a tractor and trailer quickly coming upon me that had to serve to the next lane to keep from hitting me and almost hitting yet another car in that lane. Could get the car to get up past 30mph so I pulled off to the side of the road and once coming to a complete stop vehicle shut off and wouldn't restart. While driving out of state on highway with my children on 12/8/2023, oil light came on out of nowhere and no motor oil pressure warning came on. Car started losing power immediately and I had to pull off the road. Motor started knocking and I had to have the car towed to a local firestone as no ford dealers were open. There were no warning lamps on prior to this happening. We were stranded and had to have someone drive 2 hours to pick us up and rent a vehicle to get back to Texas. The ford dealership got the car on Monday, 12/11/2023, and is replacing the motor at their cost, but they told us that we have to go back to Tennessee to get a rental vehicle and we cannot do that. SLOWED DOWN SUDDENLY, I TURNED ON THE FLASHERS TO ALERT THE VEH BEHIND ME THAT I WAS HAVING A MECHANICAL PROBLEM, THEN A RATTLING NOISE IN THE ENGINE, WE STOPPED VEH AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER, AFTER THEIR INSPECTION THEY SAID THE OIL PUMP HAD STOPPED PUMPING CAUSE A BELT HAD FAILED INSIDE THE MOTOR. THEN QUOTED A $9000.00 DOLLAR REPAIR FOR A NEW MOTOR

Dec 1, 2023

While driving, the vehicle displayed "Low Oil Pressure, Stop Engine" and we experienced a loss in power. Luckily, we were near our home at the time. We were traveling at approximately 65mph on a busy highway and the vehicle lurched as if it were going into a power-limited mode. We were able to get off of the roadway safely, but we were lucky in doing so. After dodging traffic and getting to a safe location, the vehicle was towed to a local Ford dealership. Upon inspection, they advised that the oil pump/belt/belt tensioner had gone out. This had caused a number of other issues within the engine (timing, bearings, etc) and the entire engine would have to be replaced in reference to SSM 49918. Researching online, there appears to be a large number of drivers experiencing the same issue with a failed oil pump that leads to a failed engine, some of which have seized completely while traveling. Luckily, ours did not seize completely, but the vehicle did drop drastically in power, causing other vehicles to swerve to miss us as we had an uncontrollable loss in speed. The vehicle is currently at the Ford dealership still as I call around to get additional quotes for repair. Ford estimates the cost of repair to be approximately $8,700. Ford customer service also refused any financial assistance due to our "CLV Score" not being "high enough", even though this is a known issue with this engine specifically. When I asked for a copy of the repair order for the quoted repairs from the Ford dealership, they provided me with a repair order with no diagnosis, quote, estimate, or any other information regarding the repairs needed. All information has been by phone with no written documentation on the issue from the service department.

Fuel pump failure has caused low engine oil pressure and now the engine in the vehicle has to be replaced

Nov 29, 2023

Low oil pressure light came on. Pulled over right away. No rough idle or any odd noises. Had it towed to the ford dealership. Was told it was an oil pump retention belt that broke and the engine had no compression. The belt pieces were found in oil. Was told the engine had catastrophic failure due to the belt breaking. And would need to replace the whole engine. The car is a 2019 and only had 70000 miles on it. 10000 miles out of warranty. So I would have to pay for the entire thing. Ford would not take any responsibility. Called the ford costumer service assistance and was told no recalls were put out for that. I know there is a NHTSA investigation going on so I wanted to add my name to the list of people this has happened to.

Engine stalling. White smoke, clicking noise bb

Nov 19, 2023

LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. Loss of engine power. machanic said that the oil pump is bad.

Nov 18, 2023

I got up to get to work on 11/11/23 and my check engine light came on. Then my engine oil light came on. I had just gotten my oil changed not even a full week prior to this. I was driving and my car started to make a knocking noise and started to decelerate while I was coming up a hill. I got it towed to a Ford dealer that confirmed my oil pump went bad and I would need to replace my engine. My car only had 73000 miles on it. I called ford and they said there was nothing they could do. The denied knowing anything about an investigation into the oil pumps on these cars and said they won’t help pay or discount the price. The only option they gave me was to write a letter to some ford department in Michigan and wait on them to write me back as that’s the only way they communicate. Even with me replacing my engine it’s still the same oil pump as the last one so it’s just a matter of time before this one goes out as well. 5600 for a new engine and only a 2 year warranty and no advice on how to prevent this from happening again. They said keep my receipt and keep hoping for a recall. Ford is a joke.

Nov 15, 2023

The low oil level indicator light went on while I was driving in my 2019 Ford EcoSport. I stopped at an auto parts store and had them add oil. The light did not go off when we tried to clear the sensor. I drove it home (about a mile) and it struggled to pick up speed and the engine started to knock. I did some research on the model and the government is currently looking into to this issue and there are several lawsuits. All have indicated they were just out of the warranty and the entire engine needed to be replaced. It is going to cost me thousands of dollars to fix this. I was told that there is not indication that there are any issues with the engine or fuel pump until it is too late. There is an open case with the NHTSA (SSM 48093) so this is a very well known issue and will continue to get worse with other EcoSport drivers as they near 60,000 miles. It is HORRIBLE business practice to do this to customers. I now have to pay thousands of dollars for a problem I did not know about it was too late. Ford needs to take responsibility for this.

Nov 14, 2023

I had my 2019 Ford Ecosport serviced to have a new battery and brakes installed on it by my local Ford dealership. Approximately 5 days after I picked it up from the dealership, I was on my way to work and driving down I-75 (going approximately 70 mph). I received a sudden notification on my dash that I had low oil engine pressure. I made my way over to the right lane, and started to slow down so I could pull over. I made it to about 30 MPH when my car turned off, my brakes locked, and my steering wheel locked. I had to push with excessive force on the brakes to completely stop the vehicle, and pull with excessive force to make it turn off to pull over. I checked the oil, and it was not low. So, I had it towed to the dealership. Here they told me that a belt had slipped in my engine and caused significant bearing damage. The base estimate that I was given for repairs was 9,000 dollars, and that if my car was manufactured less than a month sooner that these repairs may have been covered by Ford because it is a known issue with this make and model car. I was very concerned that I would not be able to stop my car safely on the highway and now I don't see how I can pay for the repairs.

Nov 14, 2023

Car started stalling out then not starting every time filled up with gas, Ford service center took 2 months saying it wouldn't harm the car and then had to replace the purge valve on 10/5/23. On 11/11/23 the low oil pressure light came on without any issues beforehand, oil life at 36%, oil on dipstick. The car lost power when trying to accelerate and started making ticking noise from under the hood. Determined to be failed oil pump and engine, engine has to be replaced.

Nov 9, 2023

I was driving to work and had to pull over as my low engine oil pressure light had come on along with a ticking sound in the engine so I pulled over. After waiting 5 hours for a tow I got it to a shop where they are telling me that there is something wrong with the engine. After looking up my vehicle I came across hundreds of people with the same issue.

Nov 7, 2023

I was driving down the highway and when I got off at my exit my car was running very rough when idling. I was able to make it home however it was very shaky and a knocking was coming from my engine. I had my car towed to the local mechanic where upon inspection they saw that the oil pressure or warning light on the dashboard was on and asked me if I was aware of it. I was not. They did inform me that it is more than likely the oil pump that had failed. I just got the car back in April of 2023, I am currently having it towed to where I bought it, Daytona Nissan. I don't know what to really do from here. Thank you

Nov 6, 2023

Just turned onto highway, going about 50 mph. Everything began to happen at once. Car stopped accelerating, I tried to press on gas and oil pressure light came on. Pulled to the side of the road. I had the car towed to a local Ford dealership. After keeping my car for about 2 months, they finally determined a belt in the oil pump broke and trashed my engine. Quoted a price of $11,000 to repair. After reading many other complaints on this model, it appears this is a significant issue that began occurring in the last 18 months or so. With the number of complaints, it seems this should be a recall issue. This could lead to a severe accident. In my case, I was turning left across a divided highway. Oncoming traffic was traveling at speeds up to 75 mph. Luckily, there was room behind a semi where I could pull off to the shoulder of the road.

Nov 6, 2023

The contact owns a 2019 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the low-pressure oil warning illuminated. The contact stated she drove the vehicle to her residence. The following day, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

Mileage: 74,000

Nov 3, 2023

Engine failed and had to be replaced and then 3 months later the engine failed again.

Nov 2, 2023

The car steadily lost acceleration power until it wouldn't go above 3k RPM. The car started slowing down and the "low engine oil pressure" warning appeared on the dashboard display. When I pulled off the highway into a parking lot to check the issue, I could hear the engine whirring and knocking, indicating there being almost no oil in the engine despite the dipstick showing full oil and there being no visible leaks. Driving the car would presumably lead to severe damage to the engine.

Oct 27, 2023

A low oil pressure indicator appeared. Car began to sputter. Heard a loud boom under the hood. Car began to slow and would not accelerate. Engine died. Was able to get Car to the side of the road. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere, with our special needs child in the car with us. This is a potentially dangerous situation. Called for a tow to the dealership. Was told that the car could not be towed there due to dealership being closed, and for some unfathomable reason, the dealership did not have a drop off lot. Having no other choice, i had to pay an extra $100 dollars to have the car towed to my regular mechanic. He determined the the oil pick-up tube was blocked, the turbo was broken, and that the engine should be replaced. Total cost so far has been over $700. Was told by Ford to have the car towed to the nearest Ford dealership which was in Belvidere. The dealership was going to charge me $400 for an unrelated repair, before they would look for "other problems". Contacted Ford. They told the dealer to do a proper diagnostic and repair. Got a call this morning saying they replaced the tubo. However, they did not replace the timing belt which is known to be the common cause of the problem. And they want to charge me a deductible for what is clearly a faulty Ford engineering issue. As my research has shown this to be a fairly common failure with the Ford eco-boost engine. A total recall on this engine is clearly and urgently needed. Please help.

Oct 24, 2023

I have had several problems: Turbo replaced in 2022 (twice) Engine replace once in 2022 2023; replaced wire harness 2023 replaced fuel pump 2023 replaced battery 2023 replaced gas control valve All at which was replaced at separate service dates. This car is not reliable. Very unsafe drive. Has been towed 3 times to the Ford Dealer Ship in Chattanooga, TN in the last month and a half. Need to be recalled and deemed unsafe to drive. I have been stranded in the car serval times in since purchasing it new in 2020.

Oct 24, 2023

Low pressure oil, fuel pressure, other engine had to be replace

Oct 18, 2023

2019 ford ecosport with around 48000 miles on it. Driving a trip of 40 miles within 20 miles of the trip the low oil pressure notification comes on. At the same time the car begins to loss power and we pull over to the side of the road. Take the car the the local ford dealership the concluded it was the oil pump and the engine needs to be replaced. Due to national back order I have been out of a car for a month with no eta on when this issue will be fixed.

Oct 18, 2023

My girlfriend was driving and all of a sudden the low oil pressure sensor goes off on the dashboard, and the car starts shaking violently from the engine. After towing the vehicle to our local mechanic, they confirmed that this was an engine problem due to issues surrounding the oil pump in these vehicles. We towed the vehicle a second time to ford to have the engine replaced. This is apparently a known issue among 2018-2019 Ford EcoSports with the 1.0 L engine that leads to oil pump failure and destroys the engine. The dealer also found this issue and is covering it under warranty, but this was a serious safety hazard as it occurred while my girlfriend was driving home, and could’ve easily caused an accident on the busy road she was driving on. There are a multitude of reports of this same thing happening to hundreds of others online. The recall for this engine must be issued sooner rather than later.

Oct 18, 2023

While driving on the highway, my car stopped on the road. When I was able to get it to restart, the low pressure oil lights came on, and the engine light came on. I drove my car home. I had it towed to Ford where they have said the oil belt caused the engine to fail. They say it needs a new engine. Cost will be 7300 dollars approximately. The car as about 70,000 miles

Oct 17, 2023

my daughter was driving her car when it started shacking and then shut off on her in the middle of the road. some people helped her push the care out of the road onto the side. the car was towed to the repair shop and they told us that the oil pump had failed and the engine needed to be replaced.

Oct 17, 2023

While driving, my engine suddenly started straining, would not accelerate beyond 45 mph and the low oil pressure light came on. Our speed would not exceed 45 mph and since we were on the interstate we were almost hit from behind by several vehicles before we could get pulled off the road. We immediately checked the oil level, which we discovered was not low and we could not visibly see any other issues that would cause this issue. We continued to drive the vehicle approximately 20 miles to home via the interstate with our emergency flashers on. We took it to a Ford dealer where we were informed the engine oil pump belt tension had failed and the repair cost was $6,100. It appears this is a known defect in the 2019 Ford EcoSport, 1.0L EcoBoost engine with at least five Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) being issued, the first on July 22, 2019, prior to our purchasing this vehicle. The TSB states if the defective part breaks/fails it could result in engine failure requiring engine replacement. For should have never sold this vehicle to us knowing this issue existed.

Oct 16, 2023

My vehicle suddenly lost power while I was on the interstate in the middle of heavy traffic. The message on the screen said low oil pressure. I managed to get out of traffic and exited the highway as soon as I could. I managed to get back to town before the vehicle stopped. I had to have it towed to my house and then to the dealer to look at it. Fortunately I was not injured but I could very easily have been. The dealership claims to have done an analysis on the vehicle and says the motor needs to be replaced. However, they have yet to give me a printed report that states what is wrong. I have been told there is a defect that allows oil to saturate the motor and that is why it died. My vehicle only has 55,465.4 miles on it and this should not have happened. The fact that there are so many other people that I have talked to and there are many reports on the internet from others who have had to replace motors that are so expensive because there is apparently no way to fix the defect other than replacing the entire motor. Every time I talk to the dealership they keep raising the cost of the repair and they also tried to give me a copy of someone else's repair and told me it was the same as mine, but they can't seem to locate the analysis that they said they did on mine. They did tell me at one point that they have had a lot of vehicles like mine with this same problem. I have not had the vehicle repaired because I can not afford it and I keep getting different stories from the dealer. I also contacted Ford Motor Company about the car but they will not return my call.

Oct 14, 2023

I was driving when my car started to make an extremely loud noise. The noise sounded like metal clanking together. Not to long after the noise started (same day) a low engine oil pressure warning appeared on my dashboard. After taking the car to Ford for a diagnostic I was told I’d need an $8,000 engine due to the oil pump failing.

Oct 13, 2023

On 10/01/2023 I was on my way to the airport with my son all of a sudden as I was driving the low engine oil pressure warning light came on!! Before this never had any other lights come on No other issues kept my car well maintained Now my car is at a shop because the engine is locked up. Just bought this car From a used car dealership in Jan 2023

Oct 9, 2023

The car completely shut off while I was driving. I was on the road when it shut down which put me and others at risk who were behind me in traffic. The car was towed to the ford dealership. They have called and confirmed that it needs a new engine. No warning lights were on prior to the vehicle stopping.

Oct 6, 2023

In November of 2022 I experienced engine failure by coolant getting into the cylinders. Two weeks after oil change. Finally in January 2023 it was replaced. It wasn't under warranty. FORD Assisted in paying partially for repairs. July I started having problems again. After multiple trips and misdiagnosis, the same problem. As of today its been in shop over 30 days. They are replacing the top of the engine and it hasn't lasted a year. The car has dangerously just quit running while driving. This is an ecoboost 1.0 EcoSport. I feel it should be included in the investigation that nhtsa is already doing on the other ecoboost.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle would not accelerate. The low engine oil pressure, check engine light, and manual warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the brakes were also inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed oil pump which caused significant engine damage in the long block. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

Was on the highway and the car alarmed low engine oil. The car would not accelerate. Barely made it to the side of the highway. Back smoke and the car would not drive. Had to be towed. Was told need a new engine

Oct 3, 2023

I was driving my 2019 Ford Ecosport when the low oil pressure light lit up on my dashboard. My car then proceeded to slow down and would not turn back on. I got it towed to the Ford dealership where the mechanic let me know that my engine was indeed dead and I would need to purchase a new one for over $7,000. The car only has 61,000 miles on it and all oil changes and car maintenance have been kept up with. Ford needs to take responsibility and fix the engines for these EcoSports. My children rode in this car with me it was our only form of transportation now we have none. This is completely unacceptable.

Oct 1, 2023

The oil pressure light came on and now Ford tells us that we have to get a new engine that will cost us over $6,000 and the vehicle has less than 84,000 miles on it. Now i have to buy a new engine but i have taken good care of the vehicle. Now I here if I drive the car it could stop on the road. So now if Ford repairs the car with a new engine which is going to be the same type engine how long will it last before it has the same problem. Or stop on the road and cause an accident.

Sep 29, 2023

While driving on the freeway going roughly 68mph, a maintenance notice came on my dash stating “Engine oil pressure low”. Prior to this, the car ran fine and there were no lights on the dash. Soon after the oil light came on (despite the oil being changed less than a month prior), followed by the maintenance light. At this point the car began to stop accelerating, causing my speed to drop to between 48mph and the low 50s in the fast lane, and cars were having to swerve around my vehicle. It began to shudder and the check engine light turned on. I unfortunately was not in a safe place to pull over, and had to maneuver across the freeway at night going roughly 48mph still an hour away from home. When I looked up what this maintenance light was caused by, my search resulted in a faulty engine oil pump that may cause engine failure. Please understand, I have only had this car for 8 months and it has LESS than 60K miles on it. The car had been well maintained and had a recent oil change as standard.

Sep 29, 2023

The engine in my Ford Ecosport lost oil pressure. I was driving on the expressway away from home. All of a sudden my car started shaking and then it started slowing down. It slowed down more and more until the low oil pressure light came on. Luckily for me I was close to an exit so I worked my way slowly to the exit, which had an oil change shop near. At the shop where I get regular oil changes, they told me that my filter had no oil on it. There was gas in my oil. It ran out like water. At the repair shop, they told me that the engine would start, get pressure and then suddenly loose all the oil pressure. They said the only way to fix the problem is to get a new engine for $7,000. I am a college student. I bought a newer car less than one year ago and have been paying a payment of $350 so I wouldn't break down during my transit from school to home to work. The Ford dealership told me that now my car is only worth $5,600 instead of the $17,000 that I owe. I can't get a new car because that much negative equity won't transfer to a new car. If I go get the new engine that engine is going to have the same problem because Ford hasn't fixed the problem. I serviced my car with regular oil changes. I feel that Ford should stand behind their products and make this right. I have no car to get to school or work now. I have a payment of $350. I feel like this is a Lemon car and if Ford won't fix it on their own that a recall should happen to fix a product that could have made me walk on the busy expressway in bad weather, the middle of the night, etc. I'm a young female!!

The contact owns a 2019 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started to decelerate independently and failed to exceed 30 MPH. The contact stated that the oil pressure and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a general engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the diagnostic result. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 106,000.

Low engine oil pressure light came on at around 66,423.04 miles while driving to work. There was very low power in the engine. I had to turn around and head back home before my engine shut down on me. So slowly I drove back home at the risk being stuck in the middle of traffic. My mechanic says that shavings from the timing belt behind the engine clogged up my oil pump. My car’s been off the road for over two months as I don’t have thousands of dollars to fix it.

Sep 27, 2023

Engine has failed due to an issue stemming from their oil pump. Some report seeing a low oil level warning lamp on their dash right before they lose power, in some cases while the vehicle is in motion.

Sep 27, 2023

The check engine light came on with (what Ford Service stated) and emissions error. Then three days later the check engine light came on along with the low oil pressure warning. The car was not accelerating and had stopped completely when driving on Saturday (the day the all the light come on). Did not drive the car until it my appointment with Ford Service on the following Weds. The service tech stated that the teeth if the oil pump were shredded and that I had metal shaving in the engine. The oil pressure was at 3PSI. That was only three days after the car was seen at the shop.

Sep 27, 2023

The 2019 Ford Eco Sport had the loss of oil pressure indicator light turn on all of a sudden. Took to a local mechanic and the oil pressure belt in the engine malfunctioned and is not lubricating the entire engine which could cause the car to freeze up instantly and unexpectantly. It was dangerous to me and others if the car just stopped driving all of a sudden. I stopped driving the car and had it towed to the dealership. The loss of oil pressure light turned on for the first time yesterday 9/26/23. Apparently, this is a common problem for the Eco Sport and the engine is on back order.

Sep 25, 2023

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ecosport. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 60-65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. The check engine and the low oil pressure warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where an unknown sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE23015 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to another dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

Mileage: 63,000

Sep 25, 2023

My vehicle is about three years old and with no prior warnings that something may be wrong, I received a “Low Engine Oil Pressure” warning while driving down the highway that caused me to pull the vehicle over. Acceleration was affected and the car was not operating properly and so I received a tow to a shop. The shop called to inform me that it is in need of a total engine repair and would cost me about $8500 for a used engine since Ford does not currently have any new ones available. I spoke with Ford customer service as well as my dealership who both informed there were no current options for financial assistance from Ford at this time. I am now left with a vehicle that requires more money in repairs than I have to pay it off. Ford is well aware of this issue and I know I am one of many Ford owners who are now left with this problem. This is not the first issue I have had with this vehicle. Approximately a year ago my computer system that handles my back up camera and hands free technology also stopped working and is in need of an APIM replacement which is about $4000. This is also an issue well known to Ford users and impacts the safety of the drivers. All in all to make necessary repairs would cost almost as much as the MSRP for the vehicle itself and I still have half of that to continue to pay on.

Oil pump pulley failure resulting in loss of oil pressure while driving and causing catastrophic engine failure

Sep 11, 2023

On July 7th, 2023 I went to my Ford dealership to get my standard oil change for my 2019 Ford Ecosport. While doing regular inspections during that visit I was notified that I had a cracked oil pan and was told that it was not a major issue at the time but should get it repaired. On July 28, 2023 I went to get my standard state inspection. Before the car was inspected I specifically asked if the oil pan would need to be fixed prior to inspection as I had noticed that my engine light came on but then shut off after a day or two. I was told the oil pan would not fail my inspection and was given a passing review. On September 10th, 2023 I was driving back from vacation, two hours from my home, when, while on the highway, my low engine oil pressure light came on and my car started to kick back and lose power. I was luckily able to eventually pull over somewhere safe but the car was no longer drivable as I could not accelerate and the brakes began to fail. I had to have it towed back to my home dealership for inspection. It is currently being looked at. After brief research I have read several other reports regarding my 2019 Ford Ecosport and engine failure. My car was bought brand new, I’ve only had it for 4 years and has 72,000 miles on it when the incident occurred.

Sep 9, 2023

Saturday 9/3/23 low engine oil pressure light came on and engine started to run sluggish towed to Ford dealer where I was told I had catastrophic engine failure and need to replace engine costing approximately $8,000 on a car I still owe $7500 on metal was found in the oil mileage at the time of the incident 93,445 (all highway miles driven)

I took my car into the ford dealership in Temecula. California and I wanted the seat repaired to warranty specific help. Right after I purchased the car I was in really bad traffic on the Temecula freeway and I leaned back and the seat made a popping sound. I’m now being told by ford Temecula Gosch dealership service dept that they will not fix the seat because it’s not a defective seat and they will not let me speak to anyone in the warranty dept. I’m hoping you can help me get this seat fixed as it slides when I turn my car to the right or left and now I’m having pain in my right leg and back. I’ve taken my car in several times for help and they just play games.

Jul 31, 2023

My cars low engine oil light came on suddenly and then the engine started making noises. Full on oil and not leaking. Mechanic says it’s an internal issue and will be $5600 to repair. I already have an electrical issue with the A-pin that Ford said was $3000. It never got repaired because they never contacted me saying the part was in. The engine issue has a recall for the year make and model of my car but my car was built 7 days after the cut off. That date needs to be changed to include my car since it’s the same exact issue according to the mechanic.

Engine pressure oil light on Braking system failure

Jul 16, 2023

My 2019 Ford Ecosport started running rough around the middle of June 2023. I thought it was time for a tune up. The car didn’t display any warning lights on the dashboard. I kept driving it and made a appointment with Firestone for a tuneup and oil change because the oil change was coming due soon. Before I could go to that appointment my car’s engine started making more noise. I called a friend who is an A tech to look at my car. He said yes that this was a known problem with the Ford Ecosport 1.0 engine. The cooling line leaks antifreeze into the engine and causes the problem with the oil pump leading to no oil pressure. He said he could repair the car at 17 hours of labor plus parts if the issue has blown the engine, but until Ford fixes the design issue it will happen again. I have owned my car for a little over a year and the car does not have a warranty left on it. There are class action suits against Ford for this problem, and I am wondering why have they not recalled the vehicle when this is a known issue.

According to 4 mechanics who said there has to be a recall because The system time chain in the engine has to be replaced but the vehicle has not even reached the mileage to require. They all suspect a recall. Ford dealership- said "they would not do an oil change because the engine could blow up on their guys" The car has been maintained more then regularly through Ford, and never once throughout the service was there any arising issues with the engine during their diagnostics done every 3 weeks.

While driving home from work, the low engine oil pressure light came on. I immediately pulled over and checked the oil. There’s plenty. I continue to drive and start hearing a knocking sound. My check engine light is now illuminated as well as low engine oil light and the wrench and the display says SEE MANUAL. I parked. I’m being told my mechanic that the engine needs to be replaced. This happened at 67,000+ miles.

Engine had felt off for a couple days it as if it had bad gas or something. Since no warning lights were illuminated I was trying to keep a close eye on it. Then on my way home from work the oil pressure light came on. I pulled the vehicle over and got it towed to the dealership. Just paid $170 for diagnosis to be told the dealership quoted 7275.39 replace the engine among other parts(other things that could have messed up with the loss of oil pressure & labor before tax. I still owe approx. $6000 on the vehicle. the vehicle had approx. 69,000 miles but under 70,000. How is this a thing? How can a vehicle fail that fast without warning? I was luckier than some that I have seen with the same issue when reviewing what has happened. I think premature engine failure without warning is pretty dangerous It was very scary at 60mph with not shoulder to pull over with. How is this such a widespread problem with no recall? I reached out to Ford Customer Service to see if they would offer any assistance since it was so close to powertrain and was denied. Now I have a 2019 car with less than 70K miles that is costing me money that almost got me killed when it broke down with no Failed with no warning? So many stories similar to my owe when I read the complaints, every one as if it was coming from me! Ford has to be held accountable!!!!

Driving down interstate and car indicator/ warning light came on low engine oil pressure. Car started running rough. Was able to get car to a repair shop by tow truck only to be told car needs entire engine replacement at only 71,000 miles. No warning of any issues that would require such an expensive fix at such a low mileage. Known flaw in these vehicles yet Ford isn’t being forced to recall and fix the issue that is clearly their fault not customers. Unacceptable! Should be mandatory recall to replace this garbage engine that conveniently needs replace 10,000 miles AFTER warranty runs out. Dangerous to have engine power issues at 55 mph!

Since I leased this car, I’ve had three transmission replacements, a full wiring harness replacement, numerous electrical issues with the display, and now can’t drive it due to engine low oil pressure. This car is nothing but a nightmare.

Oil pump belt shredded without warning at 62,000 miles causing complete engine failure while driving in traffic. Multiple warning lights illuminated, but failure was abrupt and immediate. Car was performing normally and then within a matter of seconds I experienced complete loss of power. Vehicle is presently at the Ford garage. Ford representative told us that the belt for the oil pump shredded and caused loss of oil pressure which lead to a complete loss of power.

I WAS A STOP LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT LET ME RESTART IT. AFTER AWHILE AND A FEW WARNING SYSTEMS THE VEHICLE FINALLY TURNED OVER. AFTER THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTICS WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO SEE. AS I BEGIN TO DRIVE AGAIN THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL CUTS OFF AND CAUSES ME TO TEMPORARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS I'M REGAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE THE TRACTION CONTROL TAKES OVER AGAIN AND HELPS ME OUT. I'M NOT SURE AS TO WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE STILL WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO GET BACK TO ME. BUT WHATEVER IT WAS IT WASN'T SAFE AND PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS SPOT DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC

WEIRD BURN MARKS HAVE APPEARED ON THE TOP OF MY MUFFLER. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MARCH 15TH, 2019. I FIRST NOTICED IT ON APRIL 21ST, 2019 (SEE CAR DOC 2 PHOTO). I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT ON MAY 8TH, WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED IT WAS JUST A COSMETIC PROBLEM. IT WAS REPLACED ON MAY 15TH. TODAY, MAY 24TH, 2019, I LOOKED AT IT AND SAW THE SAME PROBLEM STARTING AGAIN (SEE CAR DOC 3 PHOTO). A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY SAW ANOTHER ECOSPORT WITH THE SAME ISSUE, BUT NO ONE CAN IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I'M GROWING CONCERNED AS IT LOOKS TO BE A BURN, OR SOME KIND OF REACTION WITH MATERIALS. IT LOOKS AS IF SOMETHING IS DRIPPING ONTO THE MUFFLER FROM ABOVE, AND THAT IT'S NOT THE MUFFLER ITSELF WITH THE ISSUE. I ALSO ATTACHED MY SERVICE INVOICE FROM WHEN IT WAS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME.
