ODI 11676608 Since initial contact to your office the transmission issue has worsened An extended warranty was purchased. After 30 days the car was taken to the repair location suggested by the warranty company. No warning lights were on, but the car was running very rough. It was not getting enough power to get thru intersections and very sluggish to keep the speed with traffic. The tool light had come on a couple of times, but would reset when I shut down the car and restarted it. The warranty provider was aware that the light was not on and I was taking it to the be serviced as a precaution. I was not comfortable driving an unreliable auto. The repair shop determined that I again need a transmission. The warranty company states it will not pay for the repair, Ford says they won't assist since I was now dealing with a repair shop rather than a dealership and I am stuck with this pile of metal. March 29, 2023 my car had 56,000 miles and the dealership did an (over haul), the car now has 96,000 miles. Way too soon for any car to be put down! I have spoken to several mechanics about this issue and the conclusion verbalized to me has been, the transmissions on these cars are crap and get rid of the carl

The contact owns a 2019 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked abnormally while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was serviced under warranty, and the transmission was replaced. Despite the transmission replacement, the failure persisted and became more frequent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Before 58000 miles my 2019 Ford EcoSport began experiencing serious drivetrain issues. The car grinds when going uphill, shakes and shudders when accelerating, and the RPMs surge up and down erratically. A certified Ford dealer diagnosed it as a transmission-related problem, (torque converter which I understand to be an issue with these cars)and Ford has only offered partial financial assistance (45%) for a $3,000 repair. These symptoms pose a potential safety issue, especially while merging, climbing hills, or accelerating in traffic. Additionally, the infotainment system failed—backup camera and USB ports stopped working—raising more concerns about overall electrical system reliability. This transmission failure occurred far too early for normal wear and raises serious concerns about possible manufacturing defects. This should not be happening this soon and no engine lights came on or anything.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The issue appears to be related to the powertrain system, specifically the belt tension or transmission shifting components. A “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” warning message appeared through the FordPass app, and I have also been experiencing jerking or hesitation when applying pressure to the gas pedal, particularly during gear shifts. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. ⸻ How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The unexpected jerking and reduction in power while driving could pose a serious safety risk, especially when merging onto highways or changing lanes, where smooth acceleration is critical. This behavior could result in a loss of control or increase the likelihood of a rear-end collision in traffic. ⸻ Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? An independent mechanic has reviewed the issue and suspects that it may be related to the previously reported belt tension recall, although my specific vehicle VIN was not included in that recall group. The mechanic observed the jerking and powertrain alert and recommended further inspection. ⸻ Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. I am currently in the process of filing this report and seeking guidance from the manufacturer to determine the next steps for inspection and resolution. ⸻ Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” message appeared via the FordPass app. Prior to the alert, I had noticed intermittent jerking and hesitation during acceleration, which became more noticeable within the last few weeks leading up to the warning

My car went to the dealership service department to be fixed because the recall piece broke in December. Middle of February they told me it was all fixed I picked it up and within 8 hours it wasn’t driving right and had a bunch of alerts. I tried to drive it home it broke down in 2 degrees weather, I was stranded for 35 minutes with no heat. The dealership got the car back had it for a few more weeks. Today they called saying they think it will be fixed. They called this afternoon saying they took it for the test drive and it wouldn’t work.

On Dec 20, 2024 at 1:51PM my vehicles check engine light turned on as I was driving an Uber rider to their destination. I was unable to accelerate my gas pedal to get on the freeway. I immediately pulled over to the side of the road and saw my check engine light pop up on my dashboard. I checked my Ford App, stating check engine light is on due to low fuel system pressure, poor fuel quality/restricted fuel filter causing limited engine power until resolved. I immediately had my car towed in this case of emergency to the Frontier Ford Dealership to get this resolved. I was told after diagnostic I will be notified if under recall. I was emailed to pay out of pocket for the diagnostic repairs on 1/29/25. Then emailed by CARFAX about the new recall #23V905 that is overdue for my car on 2/14/25. I am currently paying for a car without a free rental and have been out of work for 3 months. I can't afford to pay out of pocket to Frontier Ford Dealership. I need to get back to work and I need my transportation.

Oil pump issue, Ford refuses to repair. They will keep delaying it indefinitely. I want Ford to buy back my ecosport as I feel unsafe driving it.

Jul 29, 2024

Vehicle exhibits transmission issues at 70k miles. When put into reverse, very sharp and sudden jerking is present. When shifting between gears there is hesitation, lagging, and slipping. No previous issues and all Ford scheduled maintenance has been followed. Local mechanic diagnosed transmission failure, and Ford dealership has had the car for almost a week with no answers. Ford customer service has been no help so far. Car shows no warning codes or error messages on dash. Car is 5 years old and 70k miles. First transmission service on owners manual is 100k miles for a fluid change.

In 2022 of July-August. No lights came on to warn me or anything and my engine went completely out. I took it in and it was the oil pressure that caused my engine to fail. I had to get a new engine, transmission, and a whole bunch of other new things done to my car. AFTER repairs covered by warranty I continue driving and right away I noticed my car making weird noises (like whirring and purring). I took it into ANOTHER ford dealership. This dealership told me that the OTHER dealership did the repairs all wrong and that my car was a mess under the hood…and BOTH dealerships argued who was going to pay for the repairs . To this day I still hear the whirring even though they claim it’s fixed . Surprise ford of Arizona was the dealership that did repairs, and the Milford Ford was the second dealer who claims the repairs were horrible and screws were loose etc right in front of me(I called ford during this conversation to have it recorded) I have a [XXX] son and I fear to drive my car everyday. I have asked ford to repurchase my vehicle TWICE and no remedy has been done. Now for 3 months of being aware of the recall nothing has been done . low oil engine, light on...big valley ford lincoln stockton wont do something until the second letter re-call is serve.

Apr 16, 2024

On [XXX], my 2019 Ford EcoSport came up with an alert that indicated to "see manual"; the manual indicated that this alert is due to the Powertrain. Hours later, I receive an alert with the engine oil symbol about the engine oil pressure low followed by the engine light appearing. I was able to get it into my dealership (Venus Ewald Ford in Cudahy, WI) the next day; it was informed to me later that day that these symptoms were due to the recall associated with the vehicle. It was a hassle obtaining a rental vehicle as the warranty states it "can only be a Ford Vehicle" I was told. On [XXX], I received a call from the dealership indicating that my rental vehicle was extended as they were waiting on a specific part from Ford. It is now [XXX] and I have not heard anything since 4/05/2024 about the vehicle's status. Moreover, I was informed I would have to pay a deductible which I should not have to as indicated it was all due to the recall and the letter I received regarding the recall states the "repair will be free of charge (parts and labor)." I have experience powertrain malfunctions, loss of engine power since June 2023. I had to have my vehicle towed to ford because I had no engine power. The engine was replaced in October and I still am experiencing the same exact issue. The engine light and power train malfunction alerts. I have reduced power and braking while driving. I brought the ecosport back to ford on March 22 2024 and I was quoted $2400 to replace the engine oil pump belt tensioner .when I brought in my vehicle I was never told by ford that this is the exact part that my vehicle has a recall on. My car still has not been fixed and is a safety hazard.

Mar 11, 2024

On Feb 12th 2024 the low engine pressure light came on then went off. Then When I was driving on March 10th 2024 I was hearing loud noises as I was driving and then it was driving very slow. The next day March 11th 2024 as I was at a red light the car stopped working and the oil pressure light came on as well as the engine light and it said low oil pressure and engine failure on the screen. But before all of this i haven’t had a problem with this and I just got the car 4 months ago. But now all this is happening and I had to tow my car to the ford dealership because it won’t work or turn on anymore due to this recall issue. And now my car is in the shop with no remedy to fix it and I still have to make monthly payments on it.

Our vehicle has had turbo problems for over a year and a half. The turbo was replaced once. Problems with rev hang and transmission rpm increasing randomly started happening. Then came the smell of gas/oil. The dealership had said it must be an internal problem because they couldn't find anything. Then most recently it was low oil pressure and the car dropping speed on the highway and not being able to get up to speed. It started making a rattling/clinking noise and wasn't driving well at all. It was towed on January 22, 2024, to the dealership. It has been at the dealership for three weeks now. The dealership is waiting on word from Ford on what to do for us because we are still under warranty.

The oil pump tensioner associated with recall 23V905 failed and as a result of trying to get to a safe location when the part failed the engine experienced a catastrophic failure. Ford is aware of the issue and will not do anything until the recall is amended to cover the catastrophic engine failure that the recalled part caused

recall Out of nowhere my car began to struggle to accelerate and ultimately in the middle of driving up a rather steep hill, my car cut off on me completely i almost collided with another car trying to get out of the middle of the road because the car was showing down significantly. the engine light and the oil light came on and a "low engine oil pressure" alert was coming on as well. this problem began three months before cutting off on me on the road and ford tried to tell me it was from not getting frequent oil changes and that was not correct my car was up to date. they quoted be me $10,000 for repairs and offered me $800 for my car based off of these problems when a trade in was suggested. i know they were trying to take advantage of me. i have no other vehicle i need this car to transport my child. when i check my service records on the app it conveniently states that the work done was unknown but i paid to have the problem diagnosed and for a rental which wasn't covered because i was only 300 miles over the warranty. i have spent countless dollars on rentals and ubers because my car is not drivable. i need my car fixed completely and reimbursement for money spent on rental cars and ubers for a problem ford had BEEN known about.

I was driving down the highway and lost complete power. Luckily was able to pull on shoulder before being hit by other vehicles on the road. Ecosport would no longer power on. Had towed and learned that the timing belt had failed due to lack of oil pressure. According to ford, the only way to fix the issue was by replacing the entire motor which took over 3 months to repair. The new motor sounds terrible and scares me every day now. I’m just waiting for a repeat.

Jan 4, 2024

My engine died/ car turned off and would not restart with less that a 1/4 mile notice of the warning from the vehicle. I was on a major highway and the warning alarm went off. I was in sight of the highway exit and decided to pull over there because of the extreme traffic flow and highway speed to other commuters. I only made it onto the exit ramp before the car completely died. I had only seconds to respond once the warning was given. Thank heavens I was near the exit ramp or I may have been stranded in the middle of the traffic lane with cars buzzing by me at 80 MPH! I was shocked to have a catastrophic engine failure within seconds of the warning notification. I would have thought the warning alarm would have afforded me more time to react or investigate before that type of motor failure. The dealer's service rep told me that once the oil belt breaks inside the engine the damage is pretty much terminal to the vehicle and that is was a common complaint with that type of car!

Dec 28, 2023

On the evening of 12/20/2023 suddenly the loss of engine oil pressure with an illuminated oil pressure warning lamp came on and the engine started knocking loudly. Then as we pulled out of traffic into a parking lot spot it died and would not restart. We were in heavy traffic and if we were not able to exit as quickly as we did our family would have been stranded and blocking in the heavy traffic. Was able to start it after it cooled but the engine continued to knock and within 1 minute the oil pressure warning lamp came on. We have not taken it to a repair shop as it is at 61k miles. I had to have it towed home and are currently in a out of pocket rental. It will have to be towed for any type of service.

Nov 13, 2023

I am submitting this complaint not out of personal gain but because something bad can and will happen. It almost happened to me had I not been fortunate to pull over on a majorly conjested highway. I was driving on the Atlantic City expressway when my engine seized and my display read an oil light failure I could no longer accelerate I knew I had to pull over immediately because jersey drivers are no joke and had I not someone going 65+ mph would have hit me head on. I no longer had the ability to accelerate so using whatever momentum I had left I used to propel me to the side of the road. I know there is an ongoing investigation in this matter so I can and will do anything to help expedite this.

A local mechanic said that the oil pump is clogged due to the timing below falling apart. This is a common issue with the 1.0L Ecoboost

Oct 18, 2023

2019 ford ecosport with around 48000 miles on it. Driving a trip of 40 miles within 20 miles of the trip the low oil pressure notification comes on. At the same time the car begins to loss power and we pull over to the side of the road. Take the car the the local ford dealership the concluded it was the oil pump and the engine needs to be replaced. Due to national back order I have been out of a car for a month with no eta on when this issue will be fixed.

Oct 14, 2023

I was driving when my car started to make an extremely loud noise. The noise sounded like metal clanking together. Not to long after the noise started (same day) a low engine oil pressure warning appeared on my dashboard. After taking the car to Ford for a diagnostic I was told I’d need an $8,000 engine due to the oil pump failing.

Sep 27, 2023

The 2019 Ford Eco Sport had the loss of oil pressure indicator light turn on all of a sudden. Took to a local mechanic and the oil pressure belt in the engine malfunctioned and is not lubricating the entire engine which could cause the car to freeze up instantly and unexpectantly. It was dangerous to me and others if the car just stopped driving all of a sudden. I stopped driving the car and had it towed to the dealership. The loss of oil pressure light turned on for the first time yesterday 9/26/23. Apparently, this is a common problem for the Eco Sport and the engine is on back order.

stoped at gas station for fuel and oil light started flashing with low oil pressure warning. started misfiring and making internal noise shut off only ran 45 sec after light and had to have towed home (200) mi. started researching and found numerous complaints and service messages to dealers prior to purchase. vehicle not repaired yet, i plan on doing myself as i am ASE master tech, with 40 years' experience. should be a recall issued ford is aware of problems.

While driving my 2019 ford ecosport start to make noise and a message saying loss of engine oil pressure came on. I have been told that it is do to a broken oil pump belt tensioner and that the motor is now locked up and hasto be replaced. The vehicle was manufactured in February 2019 and if you look at MC-10198600-0001.pdf 71.344KB you will find that this is a now issue that ford is refusing to pay to fix.

Aug 29, 2022

on 8/16/22, I was driving my car at 35 miles and my car started accelerating and making noise and warning light illuminated and I have to emergency pullover, my 2019 EcoSport have 69,400 miles. Now the Ford dealer said is an TSB on my car and I need to call Ford Company because my extended warranty is expired. The report from dealer said that is an SSM 49918 For loss of engine oil pressure.

Since I leased this car, I’ve had three transmission replacements, a full wiring harness replacement, numerous electrical issues with the display, and now can’t drive it due to engine low oil pressure. This car is nothing but a nightmare.

Jun 20, 2022 Crash

I have tried multiple times to reach Ford Corporate since 6-6-22. They say they called me and there was not voicemail option so they closed my case. I keep opening case numbers with them. On Jun2 2nd, my car was parked, idling in the driveway on an incline. I opened the driver's side door and pushed the off button, the car then started to roll backwards. The door hit me and the car dragged me down the driveway into the street. The car then continued to roll into a neighbor's yard and hit the front of their house. It took out a support beam, the porch, the front brick wall and a window. I opened a claim with my insurance, called the cops. The police did not issue me a ticket since I was not driving the car when the incident happened. I had to go to the ER for multiple injuries where the front tire ran over my leg, a cut head and multiple burns from being dragged on pavement. The neighbors house- luckily no one was hurt, had to have the entire outer wall replaced, brick work, and porch. I am still healing from the accident, I have a major hematoma on my right leg that has caused severe tissue damage. I believe the car did not hold in park and rolled. The car will remain in the body shop for repairs until end of June.

WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE INTO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS RESULTING IN THE CAR JUMPING FORWARD. SOMETIMES IT ONLY STUMBLES AND IS BARELY NOTICEABLE. OTHER TIMES IT JUMPS FORWARD SEVERAL FEET. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND WE DROVE ANOTHER BRAND NEW CAR THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEIR MECHANIC SAID IT WAS NORMAL. THIS MAKES TURNING AROUND IN A PARKING LOT OR SMALL SPACE VERY DANGEROUS.
