The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and attempting to depress the brake pedal, there was an abnormal clicking and popping sound coming from the brakes. No warning light was illuminated. An independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and it was determined that the wheel bearings and the brakes were loose on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.

# 1. Brakes - There is a known brake issue with these vehicles. The brakes started making a loud hissing noise and we were almost unable to stop the vehicle and ended up in the middle of an intersection. This could have caused an accident and needs to be recalled. There was no warning, messages, or signs before this happened. These are the parts the repair shop and Ford dealership said needed to be replaced: Power Brake Booster, Hydraulic Control Unit, and Master Cylinder. #2 - Transmission - The car began to shake when trying to climb up a small hill and it also started to shake on the interstate. There were no warnings or messages that appeared.

My alternator keep draining my new batteries from to much electrical pull and turns off all my digital dash and says my brake system is in failure and there is something wrong with the suspension in the front end even though I have had it fixed and the same problem has returned . I had my battery explode. The transmission jerks whenever it shifts and the transmission fluid is full and I maintain it on a regular basis. It is driven in town only. I am scared of it catching on fire now since I just saw that it is still has a recall that has not been repaired and I bought it used and I was told all recalls were taken care of. I have my grandchildren in this vehicle weekly. I want to see about getting this looked at and repaired correctly. I fear for my safety.

Brake pedal is very hard to press, there is a hissing noise sometimes it may sound like a whistle inside the car from the brakes. Took car to mechanic & was advised the brake power booster is bad & that there is a recall on it, however for some reason my car is not included in this recall.........why?

On 11/7-22, I stopped at a major traffic light on my way to work and when the traffic light turned green and I motioned to drive forward, I noticed my car had stalled and proceeded to roll backwards in traffic. I quickly placed my foot on the gas pedal to move forward, however my car continued to roll backwards, almost hitting the vehicle behind me. So I immediately put on my emergency lights and pressed the brakes repeatedly, however my brakes were frozen (hard) and did not stop my car from rolling backwards. After several minutes, my car stopped rolling backwards and I was able to restart it and slowly drive off the major highway to get assistance. When driving off the highway my car was moving extremely slow and rough. Since the incident, my car have not been inspected or repaired by a mechanic. Prior to this incident, my car have stalled out at stops and while driving but never rolled backwards or lost brake control.

When braking, the brake petal is hard to push. I traveled about 10 miles the other day and it happened about 20 times so now I'm trying not to drive until Friday when my shop can check the brakes and if I do have to drive I will stay great distance behind other vehicles. The mechanic said it sounds like brake booster problem. I checked online and found that other Ford Edge vehicles are having this problem, but there is no recall.

WHEN I PRESS THE BREAKS TO STOP, IT IS HARD TO PRESS, LIKE I'M PUSHING AGAINST AIR AND ON A COMPLETE STOP IT CONTINUES TO MOVE IN MOTION. (THE BREAKS DON'T STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN STATIONARY. IT STARTED 2 DAYS AGO AND I'M SCARED BECAUSE I HAD MY NIECE IN THE CAR AND I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD WHERE AN INCOMING CAR WAS GOING TO HIT ME STRAIGHT ON MY LEFT. I HAVE REPLACED THE PTU IN MY 07 FORD EDGE A FEW YEARS BACK THAT THE DEALERSHIP THEMSELVES TOLD ME THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON IT BECAUSE OF THE POOR DESIGN FOR $500. NOW I AM HAVING TO REPLACE THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER BECAUSE I WOULD BE DRIVING AND HEAR A HISSING NOISE WHEN BRAKING OR MY BRAKES WOULD GET REALLY FIRM. WHICH I WAS TOLD THAT THE ORIGINAL OWNER COULD HAVE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE NOT AS A RECALL, BUT SOMETHING ELSE. THAT IS NOW GOING TO COST $900.00. I DRIVE KIDS THAT I HAVE HAD PRETTY IMPORTANT THINGS FAIL THAT FORD NEVER RECALLED AND IT REALLY MAKES ME CONSIDER INVESTING IN ANOTHER FORD EVER AGAIN. IF SAFETY ISSUES AREN'T ENOUGH TO RECALL. LOOKING ON-LINE THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT AND I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AS A RECALL, NO BRAKES. ALTHOUGH NEARLY COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES ONLY HAPPENED RECENTLY I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE MAY HAVE BEEN BUILDING FOR YEARS. I ALWAYS NOTICED OTHER VEHICLES HAD (TO ME) MUCH TOUCHIER BRAKES. I NOW BELIEVE THAT THE OTHER VEHICLES WEREN'T TOUCHIER, IT WAS MY CAR THAT HAD LOW BRAKING. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING IT SEEMS THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ISSUE YEARS AGO BUT YET IT'S ANOTHER COVER UP BY A CAR MANUFACTURER.

I DROVE SLOWLY TO MY REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE BRAKES AND ADVISED ME THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. BRAKE BOOSTER: HEARD HISSING SOUND UPON BRAKING. WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THEN BRAKES BEGAN TO FAIL AND CAR STARTED TO MOVE AGAIN. HAD TO PRESS HARDER ON THE BRAKE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED TWO DAYS IN A ROW. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A 2007 FORD EDGE SE AWD THAT I PURCHASED IN 2009. I REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN 2010 AND NOW AGAIN IN 2017 IT HAS FAILED AGAIN. I WANT FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS REASON. A VERY LOUD HISSING AS IF AIR IS LEAKING BY THE BRAKE PEDAL OCCURS WHEN BRAKING. ABS LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON AND NOTHING ELSE IS AFFECTED SAFETY WISE. VEHICLE SIMPLY BRAKED POORLY AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL NOT STOP. FORD HAS CREATED A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" FOR MY EXACT ISSUE BUT WILL NOT APPLY THEIR WARRANTY/RECALL HELP TO MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE YEAR (2007). THEY SAID IF IT WAS A 2010 OR NEWER THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. IM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME PARTS CONSUMERS HAVE WITH THE 2010 MODELS AND NEWER. ITS RIDICULOUS THAT FORD CAN EXCLUDE ME FROM SOMETHING THEY ARE ACCEPTING FAULT FOR. THIS IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AT ITS WORST. WAS NOT FOUND THE FIRST TIME SO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT GAVE US A MANAGER DISCOUNT. BRAKE BOOSTER BLEED AND MASTER CYLINDER LEAK. REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM ($961.38) AND MASTER CYLINDER ($290.23). I FEEL THAT THE BREAK BOOSTER SYSTEM AND CONNECTION TO MASTER CYLINDER SHOULD BE PART OF RECALL FOR THIS MODEL EDGE. SINCE BRAKE ISSUES WERE NOT FOUND IN AN EARLIER MASTER SERVICE (I CAN SEND THAT INVOICE AS WELL), I THINK THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS BOUND TO FAIL AS I HAVE READ IN THE RECALL FOR NEWER MODELS.

EVER SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT EXTREMELY SPONGY BUT I ALWAYS ASSUMED IT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE PEDAL HAD BECOME EVEN SOFTER AND THE CAR BECAME HARDER TO STOP ALONG WITH LOUDER HISSING, I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I DON'T CONSIDER HAVING TO ALMOST STAND ON MY BRAKE PEDAL IN QUICK STOPPING SITUATIONS VERY NORMAL. I HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT BY MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THEY CONFIRMED THAT MY POWER BRAKE BOOSTER HAS A FAIRLY LARGE TEAR IN IT WHICH WILL ONLY GET WORSE AND EVENTUALLY FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY. I WAS TOLD THE COST TO REPLACE THIS BRAKE BOOSTER WAS ABOUT $1000 OR EVEN A LITTLE OVER. BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT WITH AN EXTREMELY TIGHT BUDGET, REPAIRING THIS IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. A FRIEND AND FORMER FORD MECHANIC SUGGESTED IT MAY BE MY BRAKE BOOSTER. SO I REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND PEDAL SEEMED TOO SOFT BUT CAR STOOPED BETTER AND SHORTER, BUT WITHOUT APPLYING HARD AND SUDDEN BRAKE PRESSURE ABS SEEMS TO PREMATURELY ACTIVATE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO CHECK FOR POSSIBLE RECALL OR PROBLEMS WITH CHECK VALVE/ABS. UPON CHECKING FOUND IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS FOR SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE, WHICH CUSTOMER SAYS FORD EVENTUALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BUT CALLED IT "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N02 INSTEAD OF RECALL. THE CAR WAS A 2007 FORD SEL PLUS ,MY CAR IS 2007 FORD SEL. I CONTACTED FORD TODAY(11/24/2015) CONCERNING A RECALL ON FUEL TANK FOR MY VIN AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON MY YEAR, MAKE, MODEL EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER 2007 FORD EDGES NOT ONCE, BUT EVEN AFTER HAVING BOOSTER REPLACED. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD IS NOT WILLING TO STEP UP AND MAKE RECALL FOR 2007 FORD EDGES WHEN IT IS CLEAR THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS. A WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED (PER MY MECHANIC), CAUSING THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS TO MALFUNCTION. IT BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE CAR, WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSING AND TRAVELING NEARLY TO THE FLOORBOARD. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE CAR JUST BEFORE RUNNING A RED LIGHT BY STANDING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PADS WERE AT ~50% PER A RECENT STATE INSPECTION. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN FEBRUARY 2015 WHEN ANOTHER WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED WITH MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. I WAS ABLE TO TEMPORARILY RESOLVE THE ISSUE BY PULLING THE ABS FUSE TO DISABLE THE ABS SYSTEM. FORD'S R&M ENGINEERS MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN TO PERFORM A FAILURE MODE ANALYSIS ON THE EDGE'S ABS SYSTEM.

UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THAT THE INNER BRAKE PADS ON BOTH FRONT BRAKES WERE TOTALLY WORN OUT AND GRINDING ON THE METAL WHILE THE OUTER PADS HAD PLENTY OF BRAKE MATERIAL LEFT. THE ROTORS WERE RUINED! THE REAR BRAKE PADS ALSO HAD PLENTY OF MATERIAL LEFT. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS. *TT
