Purchased a duralast battery from AutoZone store #1299 in Hialeah in August 3rd and installed it. The staff was insistent that this battery was a direct replacement part for my lead acid battery. The car drove normally for approximately a month, and on the morning of September 6th started normally with no warning lights. After being driven less than a quarter mile, in slow-moving traffic, the car suddenly lost all power and large amounts of smoke came from under the hood accompanied by a burning smell. This happened in an intersection during 830 AM traffic on a weekday and I was unable to immediately exit the vehicle. This could have been a fatal incident for myself or potentially others. It was towed to a mechanic who started disassembling it to determine the damages. As per the mechanic, there is evidence of an electrical fire - the cables connected to the battery have melted and the alternator (which was TESTED AND INSTALLED BRAND NEW LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO) are damaged. The mechanics have also stated that the fans and cooling system have been affected, but not to what extent as they are still mid-teardown. When they attempted to put a load on the battery, it began to overheat dangerously, and they state that it is the likely culprit of the fire. I attempted to return the battery to the store I had purchased it at, where the staff were verbally abusive and insisting that it was impossible for a battery to cause an electrical fire and they'd never heard of such a thing, and that perhaps my mechanic was the one who had messed up my car. They refused to aceept a return, and kept telling me the battery was good. They provided me with a area manager phone number who is avoiding all communication. Meanwhile, I am without my vehicle, which requires EXTENSIVE ELECTRICAL REPAIRS and may be a total loss. If they are selling defective batteries to clients, they are putting the public at risk, doubly so by refusing to take any sort of accountability for their product.
The locked door emblem sporadically comes on and stays on. It makes my interior lights stay on. It runs my battery down. The back passenger side door was opened by a rider and the lock all doors button had been engaged. The red light was on to show doors were not locked. This has been an ongoing issue for several months now. I have an appointment at Ford garage 09/13/22.
Problem with the computer for dash. Was worked on at Ford dealership in Lexington ky and had to borrow money with the lender that was already financing the vehicle for me for repairs. They was unable to repair it but still charged me almost 1,800.00.
The rear taillight socket melted due to excessive heat. This has happened twice to the same vehicle. Once in 05/2019. At the time, a dealer service center recommended replacing the junction box, a $700 repair. The same issue has occurred again.

REAR TAIL LIGHT BULBS ARE MELTING, SEVERAL TIMES NOW, AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE, SO I SEE IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD THE LIFT GATE OPEN LOADING GROCERIES AND IT ALL OF A SUDDEN RELEASED AND CAME DOWN AND STRIKING MY HEAD AND NECK AND I QUICKLY PUSHED IT BACK UP AND IT JUST DROPPED DOWN AGAIN BEFORE I COULD GET MYSELF CLEAR STRIKING ME AGAIN, IT GOT MY NECK AND SHOULDER. VEHICLE SHIFTS EXTERNALLY HARD FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR WITH A HARD JERK AND LOAD KLUNK, SO MUCH SO THAT IT HAS STARTED CAUSING ME NECK PROBLEMS FROM TENSING UP IN ANTICIPATION OF THE JERK. ALSO 2 TWICE UP GOING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, HAD AN EXTREMLY LOAD NOISE IN TRANSMISSION THAT SHOOK THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE RPM ROSE BUT THE CAR BARELY EASED FORWARD AND THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WERE IN A BIND. I THEN PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, PULLED OUT THE KEY, OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR AS TO PRETEND I WAS EXITING, THEN PUT KEY BACK INTO IGNITION, STARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN GEAR (NO PROBLEM) AND ACCELERATED AS NORMAL (NO PROBLEM), EXCEPT WHEN IT SHIFTED FROM 3RD TO 4TH WHICH IS AROUND 25MPH. I HAVE NOT AND DO NOT HAVE ANY LIGHTS ON IN THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY PANEL NOR DO I HAVE ANY ERROR CODES SHOWING. MACANIC SAYS IT WOULD BE AN EXPENSIVE SHOT IN THE DARK TO START RANDOMLY CHANGING OUT SENSORS AND CHANGING OUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AS IT IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE MECHANICS OF THE TRANSMISSION BUT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I'VE ALSO TRIED A HARD REBOOT TO THE CARS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO POSSIBLY CLEAR ANY STORED ELECTRICAL ISSUES, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS!!! GO TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON, CAR STARTS NORMALLY, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE CLEARED. PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, AND HEAR AND FEEL A LOUD "CLUNK" AS THE VEHICLE SHIFTS, AND AM ABLE TO BACK UP NORMALLY. WHEN SHIFTING BACK INTO DRIVE, THE RPMS JUMP UP, THE CAR SHIFTS AND MAKES THE LOUD "CLUNK", AND WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE BARELY MOVES. IT WILL OCCASIONALLY COME BACK AND THE VEHICLE WILL RETURN TO IT'S NORMAL RUNNING STATE, BUT THEN IT WILL EVENTUALLY RETURNED TO THE DEFECTIVE STATE. NO ODOMETER WHILE DRIVING, NO POWER IF YOU STOP LEAVING YOU STRANDED.

THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF, BUT IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. THE DEALERSHIP IS WANTING TO CHARGE BETWEEN $1900 - $2500 TO FIX AND TWO PLASTIC CLIPS THAT CLOSE THE SUNROOF, BECAUSE THEY ARE INDICATED THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRACK SYSTEM, AS THE SPECIFIC SMALL PART THAT NEEDS REPLACING IS NOT AVAILABLE.

OUR VEHICLE BEGAN TO STUTTER WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND THEN SUDDENLY TURNED OFF WHILE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. ONCE THE ENGINE TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT JUST PAST THE INTERSECTION, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF, & WAITED 5 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING IT BACK ON. THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE OFF & THE ODOMETER MESSAGE WAS GONE BUT WHEN I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THERE WAS A LOUD, WRENCHING SOUND & THE ENTIRE CAR JERKED...STILL BARELY ABLE TO ACCELERATE & THE SPEEDOMETER STAYING AT 0, UNRESPONSIVE TO THE GAS PEDAL. I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE WITH THE SAME RESULTS. AFTER A FEW UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS WITH THE SAME RESULTS, I CALLED FOR A RIDE & LEFT THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT, ARRANGING A TOW TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID A TEST DRIVE IN THEIR LOT & THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY BUT PULLED COMPUTER ERROR CODES INDICATING FAULTY SENSORS (THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR & TURBINE SPEED SENSOR, WHICH WEREN'T 'COMMUNICATING PROPERLY'). ABOUT 90 MINUTES LATER THEY CAME OUT AND SAID ALL WAS FINE, NOTHING WRONG WITH BATTERY OR BRAKES. I LEFT AND DROVE VEHICLE HOME AND SAME PROBLEMS WERE OCCURRING, I RETURNED AND AFTER CALLING AND SAYING SAME THINGS WERE OCCURRING. I HAD HPED TO SPEAK TO [XXX], WHO WAS AN AMAZING SERVICE SUPERVISOR, BUT HE WAS NOT THERE AND ANOTHER MAN WHO WAS RUDE CLAIMED THE BATTERY WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO HAVE OILY SLUDGE ON THE BATTERY . HE SAID IT WAS "NORMAL, BECAUSE IT WAS JUST SWEATING". HE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING..SAID THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE AT 3 BEFORE FORD WOULD REPLACE THEM. I ASKED THAT HE CONTACT FORD CORPORATE AND INQUIRE. HE SAID, "NO HE WOULD NOT" THE BATTERY I SHOULD ADD SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY REPLACED. I HAVE LIMITED DRIVING THE VEHICLE, EXCEPT FOR SHORT LOCAL TRIPS, AND TONIGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND AAA CLAIMED THE BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE AND CLEARLY DEAD. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD EDGE'S, IN FACT; THERE IS A TSB BULLETIN (07-21-11) REGARDING THE ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM STEMS FROM A SHORT IN THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED (OSS) SENSOR AND THE TURBINE SHAFT SPEED (TSS) SENSORS. OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE MY VEHICLE, UPON RETURNING TO SPEED OR ENTERING A ROADWAY/HIGHWAY, OR OTHERWISE ENTERING A ROADWAY, IT HAS MADE A NOISE, A SUDDEN JERK, SEEM TO HOLD SPEED (FAIL TO INCREASE SPEED) AND SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE IT IS FAILING TO CHANGED GEARS (APPEARS TO REV IN RPMS SLIGHTLY), THEN JERKS AGAIN, AND COMES BACK INTO ROUTINE SHIFTING. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. I HAVE HAD THE FLUID CHECK, FLUSHED, REPLACED, ASKED MY MECHANIC AND SHE CAN FIND NO ISSUES. IT SEEMS TO FEEL LIKE IT BOGS DOWN, BUT RPMS APPEAR TO INCREASE (ALMOST AS IF IT IS NOT IN GEAR/NEUTRAL). IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. I HAVE ROUTINELY CHECKED MY CAR FOR RECALLS. AND I SHOULD NOTE HAVE HAD THE BALL BEARING GO BAD (AS RECALLED) AND REPLACED, INCLUDING THE ENTIRE ARM ON THE LEFT REAR. ADDITIONALLY, MY BATTERY HAS FAILED AND BEEN REPLACED (APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AGO) AND HAS SINCE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AGAIN. THE AUDIO SYSTEM IN MY 2008 EDGE CONTAINS A GPS AND SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO AS WELL AS THE NORMAL OPTIONS. ONE MORNING, THE SIRIUS RADIO RECEPTION WAS DEGRADED TO THE POINT THAT THE SIGNAL COULD ONLY BE HEARD WEAKLY AT FULL VOLUME. I WORKED THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTICS WITH SIRIUS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A FORD HARDWARE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER, WHO CHARGED ME $98 TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC THAT POINTED TO A BROKEN ANTENNA MOUNT ASSEMBLY, WITH A PRICE TAG OF $600 BEFORE LABOR. I DID NOT ACCEPT THE OFFER. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE PROBLEM SUDDENLY RESOLVED ITSELF AND RECEPTION RETURNED TO NORMAL. AT NO TIME DURING THIS PROCESS DID I MESS WITH THE CONNECTIONS TO THE RECEIVER (IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT) OR THE "ANTENNA" THAT SITS ON THE SPOILER.

OTHER ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE NOTED IS THAT THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CAR FOR NO REASON HAS ALARM GO OFF. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER THREE TIMES TO HAVE THIS CORRECTED BUT THEY SAY THEY CANNOT TOUCH THE ODOMETER AREA OR CHANGE THE COLOR DUE TO FEDERAL REGULATIONS. THEY SAY THAT THE PART MUST MATCH THE ORIGINAL VIN NUMBER. WE FEEL IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. OUR DEALER IS WILLING TO WORK WITH US BUT FORD WILL NOT. THE CAR IS BRAND NEW (ONLY 6,000 MILES ON IT). THE CONTACT PURCHASED AN ANGLE MIRROR IN AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE LIGHT REFLECT OFF OF IT; HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT HELP. HE BELIEVES THAT IT NEEDED TO BE MANUFACTURED DIFFERENTLY BECAUSE ON DAYS WITHOUT BRIGHT SUN LIGHT, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST HE IS DRIVING.
