When I accelerate, my car jerks or the shifting is not smooth anymore. Others have been quoted over $9k to fix this issue.

The contact pulled over off the roadway. The check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the water pump had failed. The water pump was replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the failure recurred. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the low oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after a week, the failure recurred, and the vehicle failed to shift into the intended gear. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that she was informed by the dealer of the NHTSA Campaign Number 14V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
Water pump recall class action
I believe it was March,2022 or April,2022 my check engine light came On 20’ before pulling into my driveway. I called “Protect My Car” insurance protection that I have, had my Edge towed to a repair shop and they said my antifreeze was leaking into my oil, that my water pump went out and said it was my fault as I neglected taking care of my vehicle and they have denied paying to fix it, even thought it is 100% covered. Not sure what to do as it only has 151,000 miles on it and the body is in good shape and clean inside. I had no idea the water pump went out. I’m not a mechanic and thought that’s why I was paying them for problems like this. I need help to get it fixed and never neglected it or drove it after check engine light came on.

VEHICLE STALLED WHILE REVERSING INTO A PARKING SPOT. BARELY STARTED. STALLED A FEW SECONDS LATER AFTER COMPLETING THE REVERSE INTO PARKING SPOT. BARELY STARTED AGAIN. GOT ON THE ROAD AND DRIVING FINE A FEW HUNDRED FEET, VEHICLE STALLED ALMOST RAN INTO A GROUP OF PARKED VEHICLES. BARELY STARTED AGAIN. AFTER IT STARTED I SAT THERE AND WATCHED THE TACHOMETER, IT WOULD, WITHOUT MYSELF TOUCHING OR DOING ANYTHING, IDLE THEN JUMP A LITTLE AND DIP A LITTLE OVER AND OVER. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO CERTAIN SITUATION OR REASONING FOR WHEN, WHERE OR WHY IT WOULD STALL, COMPLETE RANDOMNESS! HIGHWAY DRIVING, SLOW STOP AND GO CITY DRIVING, REVERSING, IT SEEMS TO DO IT COMPLETELY RANDOMLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY BUT ALWAYS WHILE MOVING ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER. FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, CAME INTO TOWN AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP AT ALL THE LIGHTS AND GO BUT THEN OUT OF NO WHERE AGAIN DOING CLOSE TO THE 35MPH LIMIT IT STALLS AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS AT A 6 WAY INTERSECTION AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER MOVING VEHICLE. MY FAMILY WILL NOT BE RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE AGAIN UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE! THIS IS NOT NORMAL OR SAFE! NOT FOR ME OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROADWAY! I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE EXCEPT THAT IT'S THE MANUFACTURERS ISSUE. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SINCE. OUR WATER PUMP ON OUR 2008 FORD EDGE LIMITED, SUFFERED A BREAKDOWN WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO ENTER THE ENGINE INTERNALLY. THE WATER MIXED WITH THE OIL INSIDE THE ENGINE CAUSING A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. WE WERE INFORMED IT WOULD COST $7,800.00 TO INSTALL A NEW FORD ENGINE. AT THE TIME OF ENGINE FAILURE THE ODOMETER SHOWED 105,000 MILES. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN TOWN AT A SPEED OF 35 MILES PER HOUR IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST, 2019. I NOTICED THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING HOT AIR SO I GLANCED AT THE DASHBOARD TO SEE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE REGISTERING H (HOT). AT NO TIME DID THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COME ON TO ALERT ME OF AN ENGINE PROBLEM. I HAD THE EDGE TOWED TO A GARAGE WHERE WE WERE SHOWN A BILL FOR $7,800 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE DUE TO THE WATER PUMP BURSTING AND LEAKING WATER INTO THE ENGINE WHICH MIXED WITH OIL IN THE ENGINE. WE BELIEVE THIS ENGINE FAILURE WAS THE DIRECT RESULT OF THE LOCATION OF THE WATER PUMP WHICH WAS "INTERNALLY" IN THE ENGINE.

THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL COME ON WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND POWER IS LOST. MY CAR WILL SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 10-20 MPH NO MATTER WHERE I AM OR HOW FAST I AM GOING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. I HAVE BEEN ON I-10 WITH MY HUSBAND AND TODDLER AND THE VEHICLE GOES INTO THIS "LIMP MODE" AT 80 MPH! DRIVING TO WORK I NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE GOT ALL THE WAY UP AND I PULLED OVER, SINCE I WAS DRIVING ON THE I-41 NORTHBOUND HIGHWAY, I DECIDED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY SINCE I WAS PRETTY CLOSE TO THE EXIT. I CALLED MY HUSBAND FOR ASSISTANCE AND RIGHT AFTER HE DROPPED ME OFF AT WORK, HE CHECKED THE SUV AND NOTICED THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS VERY LOW. WE TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND AFTER THE INSPECTION HIS DIAGNOSTIC WAS A 'WATER PUMP FAILURE ' SINCE THE WATER PUMP IS LOCATED 'INSIDE ' THE ENGINE ITSELF, IT WILL BE A 'VERY EXPENSIVE FIX' SO THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED TO REPORT IT SINCE IT MAY BE FOMOCO'S FAULTY. I COMPLETELY AGREED WITH HEM, BECAUSE THE FACT THEY INSTALLED THE WATER PUMP INSIDE THE ENGINE, DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE, BECAUSE JUST A INEXPENSIVE PUMP AFFECTED THE WHOLE ENGINE AND TO REPAIR IT, WILL COST MORE THAN THE SUV ITSELF. SEVERAL TIMES NOW, MY CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE GOING 40, 60, 70MPH ON THE HWY. I HAVE HAD TO INSTANTLY PUT HAZARDS ON AND TRY TO PULL OVER WHICH ISN'T ALWAYS EASY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I PULL OFF, AND THEN MY CAR LURCHES FORWARD AND SHIFTS GEARS AND THEN CAN ACCELERATE. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I HAVE BEEN AT A COMPLETE STOP, AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. WHEN YOU CANNOT MOVE FORWARD, OR CRAWL AT SPEEDS UNDER 5MPH, BUT YOUR RPMS ARE REACHING 7, THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN A FEW TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY CANNOT FIND OR RECREATE THE ISSUES, SO THEY SEND ME ON MY WAY. IT SOUNDS AS IF MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. I AM VERY NERVOUS THAT MY LUCK IN PULLING OFF OUT OF HARMS WAY WILL RUN OUT. I HAVE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP TO ONCE AGAIN HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT THEY CANNOT GET ME IN FOR 10 DAYS.... TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON NJ ROUT 9 WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL BUT IT WASN'T. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A SAFE AREA AND STOP. I DID NOT TURN THE CAR OFF AND EXITED THE CAR AND TRIED TO OPEN THE REAR DOORS AND HATCH BUT COULDN'T. NEXT I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE STARTING IT. WHEN IT STARTED, ALL WAS FINE. THE NEXT MORNING I DROVE IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WITHOUT INCIDENT. I TOOK TO FORD DEALER SHIP AND THEY RAN DISNOSTICS AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG BUT REPROGRAMED THE COMPUTER. THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO TODAYS TO SLIP AND SLAM ON TAKE OFF, THE ODOMETER BOUNCES AND THE ENGINE START CUTTING OUT/LOOSING POWER. AGAIN THE DEALER SAID IF THE COMPUTER IS NOT SETTING CODES THEY CANNOT FIX. NOW AT 110K OUT OF WARRANTY THE PROBLEM CONTINUES JUST GETTING WORSE. I BELIEVE BY READING THE BLOGS THAT THIS IS A LARGE ISSUE THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT BUT REFUSES TO ADMIT BAD TRANSMISSION DESIGN AND WILL NOT RECALL. I THINK THEY SHOULD EITHER FIX THE ISSUE AT THEIR COST OR BUY BACK THE VEHCILE. I AM SURE THE MAIN ISSUE IS THE COST TO FORD TO FIX THE ISSUE AND THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THEY ARE MORE WORRIED THEIR STOCK HOLDERS THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I GUESS THEY WILL NEED A BAILOUT IF THEY KEEP THIS TREND UP. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, ALL OF SUDDEN THE CAR JUST STOPS WITH THE DASH BOARD DISPLAYING EVERYTHING. THE MECHANIC DID DRIVE THE CAR AND IT STALLED ON HIM. HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE "FUEL KILL SWITCH" BECAUSE IT RESET IT AND THE CAR STARTED. THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND THE CAR RAN FINE FOR 2 DAYS THEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY STARTED LOOSING SPEED AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. IT HAPPENED WHEN I CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO THE SIDE ROAD, THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND I LOST POWER TO DRIVE, AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS IT WOULD ONLY GO 30 MILES OF SPEED.
