I took my 2010 ford edge to have a air bag recall repaired. The air bag was fixed, the air bag light cleared. I drove about 3 miles home and the light reappeared, I checked the code and it was B2293-03 air bag fault. My wife called right away and told them the light came on and the car can't be inspected until it's clear. They told my wife it would be $200 to take a look at a repair they literally just took their hands off of. All I want is this safety feature fixed right without the $200 fee which is crazy when I just picked it up.

Vehicle is in St Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. Vehicle has two recalls for airbags due. Our local Ford dealership (Metro Motors) states they do not perform safety recalls on vehicles.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V158000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. Additionally, the passenger's side air bag light failed to illuminate while a passenger was seated in the passenger's side front seat. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount time. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that she will be notified when parts are available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Additionally, the contact stated that she heard a hissing noise when the brake pedal was depressed and without warning, more pressure had to be applied to the brake pedal to stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster and brake pads needed to be replaced. The brake pads were replaced however, the brake booster was not replaced. The manufacturer nor the dealer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately. 192,000

Remedy not yet available DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACEMENT THE DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR IN YOUR VEHICLE MAY EXPLODE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT CAUSES DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER AIRBAG. IF AN AIRBAG INFLATOR EXPLODES, SHARP METAL FRAGMENTS COULD STRIKE THE DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear.

I FILED COMPLAINT #11192472 IN 2019 AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO FIND OUT FROM THE LOCAL FORD DEALER THE STATUS OF FORD HAVING THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT FOR THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT FOR THIS RECALL. THEY HAD NOT HEARD FROM FORD AT THAT LAST CONTACT IN MARCH 2019 REGARDING THE NEEDED PARTS. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER SINCE, AS THEY COULD NOT GET ANY INFORMATION ABOUT IF AND WHEN FORD WOULD HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO THE DEALERS TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT. DOOR AJAR LIGHT CONTINUALLY WENT ON AND OFF WHILE IN MOTION WHETHER ON A HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET. NOTICED IT ALSO WENT ON DURING LEFT TURNS. DOOR LOCKS ON ALL DOORS WOULD CLICK ON AND OFF AT STOPS. I WASN'T SURE THAT DOORS WERE LOCKED WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. INTERNAL LIGHTS WOULD ALSO GO ON AN OFF. COMMON ISSUE ON THE INTERNET WITH FORD EDGES. IT'S ALL OVER AND FOR YEARS. I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN AND HAD TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED AT A COST OF $542.83. I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO PAY FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THE PART NUMBER TO REPLACE WAS THE LATCH PART NUMBER 8T4Z 78264A27 A. SO A NEW DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED ALONG WITH THE REPAIR OF A WIRE IN THE DOOR HARNESS NEAR THE LH SIDE OF THE DOOR SPEAKER. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE.

TAKATA RECALL I CALLED TO SCHEDULE MY RECALL TO BE REPAIRED NOW THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE AVAILABLE. IN ASKING FOR TRANSPORTATION UNTIL MY VEHICLE IS REPAIRED, FREEDOM FORD IN CLAYPOOL HILL, VIRGINIA SAID IT WAS A HALF HOUR JOB, THEY ONLY HAD TWO LOANERS AND THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANYTHING ELSE. NOW WHEN I CALLED THEM 8 MONTHS AGO WHEN WE GOT A LETTER TELLING US THAT WE COULD GET A FREE RENTAL UNTIL THE PARTS CAME IN THEY DIDN'T WANT TO ASSIST US THEN EITHER. HENCE WHY I AM COMPLAINING. THE LETTER PROMISED FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FMC) WOULD SEND A LETTER WHEN REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT MY LOCAL DEALER. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE RECEIVED 4 MORE SAFETY RECALL LETTERS, DATED DECEMBER 2017, JUNE 2018, OCTOBER 2018 ALL WITH THE SAME RECALL NUMBERS. THE MOST RECENT LETTER OF MARCH 2019 IS FOR THE SAME THING, BUT WITH NEW NUMBERS, SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 19S01 / NHSTA RECAL 19V-001. UPON GETTING THE OCTOBER NOTICE, I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE SAID HE WOULD ORDER THE PARTS AND CALL ME WHEN THEY ARRIVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPLACEMENT. THEN WITH THE MARCH 2019 LETTER, I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN. THIS TIME THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PARTS, AND IT WOULD BE UP TO 5 WEEKS BEFORE THE NEW AIRBAG COMES IN. HE ALSO SAID THAT FMC IS SENDING THEM ONLY 2 PER WEEK. NOTE: THE ANSWER TO WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN IS THE DATE OF THE FIRST NOTICE I GOT FROM FMC. AT TWO AND ONE HALF YEARS, I BELIEVE FMC HAS HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME TO SOURCE SAFE AIRBAG TO REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE ONES. I WENT INTO AUBURN FORD OVER A YEAR AGO AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE AIRBAG RECALL. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT NONE WERE AVAILABLE AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO CONVINCE ME IT WASN'T NECESSARY. IN JUNE 2018, I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER TELLING ME THAT AS THE PARTS COME IN DURING THE SECOND AND THIRD QUARTER OF THIS YEAR, I WILL BE CONTACTED FOR MY AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. THE LETTER EVEN OFFERED A FREE RENTAL CAR IF I WAS UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CURRENT CAR. ON JUNE 12, I REQUESTED A CAR AND WAS TOLD NO CAR WAS AVAILABLE AND I WOULD BE CALLED WHEN ONE BECAME AVAILABLE. I NEVER RECEIVED THE CALL. NOW IT IS ALMOST 2019, SO I CONTACTED AUBURN FORD AGAIN ONLY TO LEARN THAT STILL NO AIRBAGS WERE AVAILABLE FOR MY CAR. FORD HAS RENEGED ON IT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE ME WITH SAFE TRANSPORTATION BY FAILING TO INSTALL NEW AIRBAGS OR PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL VEHICLE. FORD HAS IGNORED THE PROBLEM BY REFUSING TO ADDRESS IT; THUS JEOPARDIZING THE SAFETY OF THE OCCUPANTS IN MY CAR.

RECALL NOTICE 16S26 / NHTSA RECALL 16V-384 STATING THE PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT AIRBAG, AND THAT FORD WILL SEND A LETTER WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT COMMUNICATION I HAD FROM FORD WAS A LETTER IN JUNE 2018 STATING THAT PARTS SHOULD BECOME AVAILABLE IN THE SECOND OR THIRD QUARTER OF 2018. AS OF TODAY, OCTOBER 26, 2018, THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY OFFERED FOR THE AIRBAG PROBLEM. I BELIEVE AMPLE TIME HAS PASSED FOR FORD TO GET THE PARTS AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS. AFTER NO FURTHER CONTACT I CALLED THEM WITH NOTHING FURTHER THEY COULD ADD. CALLED BACK JULY 2017 AND WAS TOLD NO PARTS WERE BEING MADE, JUST DON'T USE 1/4 THE VEHICLE SEATING FOR SAFETY. (NOT AN OPTION.) FOLLOW UP OCTOBER 2017, WORKING WITH A NEW VENDOR...PARTS SOON BUT NO DATE. GOT DECEMBER 2017 LETTER PARTS DELAYED UNTIL EARLY 2018. ITS MARCH. CALLED TODAY, MORE BS. NO PARTS MADE. MAYBE 1ST OR 2ND QUARTER. LADY MADE A U-TURN OUT OF A PARKING LOT A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND I MISSED HER BY INCHES. WORRY EVERY TIME WE DRIVE IT OFTEN WITH GRANDKIDS IN CAR. NHTSA HAS DONE NOTHING WE HAVE OBSERVED TO FINE OR OTHERWISE HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE/MOTIVATE THEM. I SUSPECT THEY PAY LOBBYIST TO PRESSURE YOUR AGENCY TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAD NO PROBLEM GETTING THEIR NEW CARS OUT THESE LAST TWO MODEL YEARS. TIRED OF MY FAMILIES LIVES BEING AT RISK DAILY, BUT CAN NOT GET OUT FROM UNDER THIS CAR AT THIS TIME AND WHO WOULD WANT TO BUY IT. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DONT HAVE THEM IN STOCK AND THE PLACE THAT SENDS THEM THE AIRBAGS DOES NOT HAVE THEM. MY FORD IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I HAVE TO TRAVEL AROUND IN AND HAVE NO CHOICE TO USE IT EVERYDAY SO WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN IF THE AIRBAGS GO OFF? I TALKED TO A FORD EMPLOYEE ABOUT THEIR SUGGESTION FOR OUR PASSENGER. WE HAVE A 5 PASSENGER VEHICLE FOR 5 OF US AND NOW WE HAVE TO CHOOSE WHAT PERSON CAN NO LONGER RIDE IN THE CAR OR ARE WE SUPPOSE TO THROW ONE PERSON IN THE BACK WITH NO SEAT BELTS. THIS DOES NOT WORK FOR US. OUR TWELVE YEAR OLD IS TRAUMATIZED FIRST HE WAS WORRIED HE WOULD BE LEFT OUT, BUT THEN HE IS SCARED TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE. TAKATA RECALL - FORD IS UNWILLING TO PROVIDE REASONABLE INTERIM SOLUTIONS REGARDING TAKATA AIRBAGS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TO NOT PLACE ANYONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE HOPEFULLY IN SPRING 2018. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS THE VEHICLE'S INTENDED PURPOSE IS TO TRANSPORT MULTIPLE PASSENGERS WITH USE OF THE MAIN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE, COMPENSATION TO OBTAIN A RENTAL, OR AN INTERIM REPAIR UNTIL THE PARTS ARE LOCATED. I WAS TOLD THAT NONE OF THOSE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AND THAT I SHOULD AVOID USING THE SEAT. ADDITIONALLY, THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE RECALL NOTICE IS CONTRADICTORY TO THE RECALL INFORMATION ON THE FORD WEBSITE. THE WEBSITE STATES THAT PER TECHNICAL INFORMATION, THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL REPAIR. THE RECALL LETTER SATES OTHERWISE IN THAT THE AIRBAG MAY CAUSE HARM OR DEATH IF ACTIVATED BY A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. THIS PLACES AN UNDUE BURDEN ON THE CONSUMER TO ASSUME THE INCREASED INHERENT RISK AND LIABILITY IF IN A POSITION TO NEED FULL CAPABILITY OF VEHICLE, IE. 5 PASSENGERS TO TRANSPORT IN THE 5 PASSENGER ENABLED 2010 FORD EDGE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE FORD RECALL DEPARTMENT AND CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP DEPARTMENT TO NO AVAIL. ON 10/25/2017 I RECEIVED A NOTICE WHERE TAKATA WAS GOING TO FILE BANKRUPTCY IN JAPAN TO AFFECT ONLY DEBTORS IN U.S. AND MEXICO. THERE WAS GOING TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED IN U.S. FEDERAL COURT AND I NEEDED TO REGISTER MY COMPLAINT OR I WOULD BE LEFT OUT OF EVERYTHING. TAKATA RECALL WE HAVE A RECALL DATED JUNE 1, 2016 STATING THAT THE FRONT AIRBAG COULD RUPTURE IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, RESULTING IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH. TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 27, 2016 AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED, AS WE ARE AWAITING PARTS. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TODAY AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT DEFINITIVE DATE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT IT HAS TAKEN FOUR MONTHS AND THERE IS STILL NO RESOLUTION. I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH IT HAS FAULTY AIRBAGS. TAKATA RECALL. THIS CAR IS UNDER RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION AND FORD IS UNWILLING TO PROVIDE A LOANER. THEY HAVE NO ETA FOR THE REPAIR, BUT ARE GUESSING SECOND QUARTER 2017. SO WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNTIL SECOND QUARTER 2017 WITHOUT USING THE PASSENGER SEAT OR SITTING ANYTHING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT?? REALLY? FORD SHOULD BE PROVIDING FREE LOANERS AND SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED OUR FAMILY BY MAIL!! SAME AIRBAG WITH A SUBARU WE OWN AND YET SUBARU NOTIFIED US BY MAIL AND PROVIDED A FREE LOANER. I WAS DRIVING MY 2 WEEK OLD 2010 EDGE LIMITED, ON A HIGHWAY IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC,WHEN I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A TRACTOR TRAILER LOADED WITH ASPHALT SHINGLES. I WAS PUSHED INTO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND BOTH CARS WERE TOTALED. DURING THE CRASH, THE COMPONENTS OF THE DASH WERE EJECTED INTO THE BACKSEAT. . IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN SEATED IN THE BACK SEAT, I'M SURE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED BY THE DEBRIS.THE DASHBOARD STAYED IN PLACE. ALSO, THE DRIVERS SEAT BROKEFROM IT'S ANCHORS.
