Door sensor not working, lights stay on and the battery keeps going off, very common issue from research online
This back up camera has been an issue almost immediately after I got the car. Now the picture is upside down and has lines across the screen. I am on disability and I need my camera. That's one of the reasons I bought the car. Please fix this ASAP
Originally when I purchased my, 2011 Ford Edge SEL 3.5L v6. I was informed upon purchasing the vehicle that the rear view camera was malfunctioning. I told the car dealer that was no big issue that I would take care of the problem. This was in around Sept 21, 2021. I did buy a new camera and replaced the malfunctioning camera. Which it worked just fine until the issued recall for the 2021 ford edge when my vehicle started showing the rear view camera unavailable. Which was weird since it worked completely fine the day before. I did a full software update to the system. The first time it said update successful. I then ended up resetting and full system factory reset and went to perform the software update to Sync3. My rear view camera has been unaffectively fixed after the problem. First arose. I did repair a faulted wire in the harness which didn't work either. I suspect that it still may be a software issue or that the business I work for is somehow blocking the signal. I work for Maple Bear Inc doing business as Instacart LLC. It does seem since the last revamping of the instacart driver platform was right around the time of the rear view camera malfunctioning. It may be a manufacturing issue as well. Either way it needs to be immediately resolved as this is a federal issue of non-compliance of vehicle safety regulations.
back up camera is flipped upside down and has been for years. No one has attempted to fix this. Is there a recall on this model and year. 2011 Ford Edge Sport.
My camera has been upside down and or blank or won't show anything half the time and took to the dealer and they said they cant fix it because software issue but Ford has recalled other cars cameras for the same issue. Can't see behind me very well due to camera malfunction almost every time in reverse.

I'm not sure if it's electrical or the transmission. My car is not going on parking gear. The car don't start abs the shifter is not moving. My car shifter was on parking gear, but on the dash it's not showing it's on parking. My safety concern is that the car rolls (moves) even though the car is off , no keys in the ignition. It's on parking but on the dash it's not displaying thr it's on parking gear. I need to apply the emergency breaks to keep the car from rolling ( moving) if the emergency breaks goes off the vehicle is going to roll causing to crash. I removed the cover to see if there was something causing the shifter from not moving. Then I took it to the nearest auto repair. I explained the issue and concern. They state the the shifter cable needs to be replaced. I took my vehicle to a mechanic for a second opinion he said it not the shifter cable. I never had this problem until recently. There was no warning it just didn't want to start. Now it is not go on parking gear. And it only starts un nneutraland to turned it off . I have to put it on reverse gear in order to retrieve my keys. And the emergency break must be on if not the car will roll.
I have had several problems with my back up camera. My camera now is showing the picture upside down. As a [XXX], I am using this for safety and it is very distressing since this is one reason I purchased my Ford Vehicle. I see there has been a recall issued for some 2011 Ford Edge vehicles and wondering how I could get my VIN number added. I feel this is a serious issue for safety. My rear view video display is displaying upside down. This is a known recall for other Ford edges but mine is not included in the current recall.
The back up camera stopped working approximately 1 month ago. I had returned home from work, parked in the garage, everything was normal. Next day as I started backing out of the garage there is no camera screen, just a message stating, Rearview camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership. Because of a neck injury, I rely on my back up camera to drive safely. I had no warning, the camera just quit working.
I own a 2011 Ford Edge. Recently, I’ve been having problems when I get in the vehicle and, also when the passenger behind me gets in and we then shut our doors…. a warning light comes up on the dashboard stating that the passenger’s side door is ajar. After many attempts of slamming the door, the light goes off. My fear is that if I have a passenger, there could be an issue of the door opening, if I can not get the door shut correctly or my battery would drain and I could have a dead battery. I have looked into recalls, but none have been stated. The interesting fact, is that my sister has the same 2011 Edge and the same thing happened to her. She said the dealership fixed hers at no cost and said it was a recall. My vehicle has 102,000 miles on it. Also, my rear view camera does not always work. Safety issue if relying on that. Also, no recalls have been issued.
I need the registration and license plates to my vehicle. My car was not in a accident.
Eternal water pump failure. Water pump came loose while Driving dumped coolant into engine causing engine to have catastrophic failure. Need a full engine replacement. Took vehicle to 2 mechanics for diagnosis. Both states vehicle has coolant in engine. Engine needs replaced I'm uploading an estimate from a certified FORD dealership after I told them the issue over the phone.
Rearview camera screen is blank or scrambled 98% of the time. The backup sensor has also stopped working. This does not allow me to utilize the safety features for parking or reversing. This issue has been found in newer models of my vehicle and those are currently being recalled. There is no warning for the rearview camera screen, but sometimes it does say that the camera is not available. This issue has been ongoing for years.
My car will turn on the lights in the middle of the night, without anybody in it. Battery is continuously dead, even after replacing with a new battery. The alternator and starter have been checked and are good. The passenger door ajar is always on. When I lock the car with my key fob it honks twice and the lights inside the car remain on. The car will die while driving it, when I am at a stop light. The engine light will come on and the only warning that appears is passenger door ajar. Other Ford vehicles have a recall for these horrible issues and my vehicle should be as well. This is a major issue caused by Ford. Period. Engine light came on but 0 warning detected on the menu . water pump failure on my vehicle. In shop now the repair is costly due to the water pump placement. Could have other major issues in repair shop now . 0 warning on menu inside car ?
The interior dome light stays on and door-ajar light for the driver/passenger doors. I have opened and shut the doors gently several times and the light will stay on for at least 50 mins. Sometimes, the light pops on when the car has been sitting in park.
The door Ajar is not indicating door is shut therfore I am unable to lock door also dome lights remain on draining battery. I have tried cleaning out area it helps sometimes then goes back to not working. This is a safety issue for me and my kids as I cannot lock my vehicle and my vehicle will not lock making it unsafe while driving.
I HAVE A 2011 FORD EDGE WITH 62,700 MILES ON IT AND THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.
Vehicle turned off completely while driving without notice. Lost all power, power steering, etc. Had to pull off to side of road. Once car was placed in park position, all lights came back on and I was able to start the vehicle again like nothing had happened. Very dangerous situation.
I own a 2011 Ford Edge that has a reoccurring door latch issue. This is a well known issue with certain Ford Edge years. The door latches are defective and malfunction, causing a "door ajar" dash warning light and the interior lights come on. We have had all 4 door latches replaced, but I currently have one malfunctioning again. The last one I had replaced in 2018 was not covered under warranty, and cost me $350. I spoke with Ford and they refuse to reimburse me. My daughter currently drives this car. It is unsafe when the interior lights come on at night when driving due to this issue. Ford should step up and recall these models with this problem.
I am having issues with my edge dying on me a lot it shuts off all power and I have to pull to the side of the road. I was on the freeway last week on my way to work and it lost all power. This is a serious issue and is very dangerous specially when I have young ones. I have read where a lot of people are having the same problem. A lot of people are saying the throttle body. This needs to be recalled and fix before there is a pile up on the hwy and someone is killed.
While driving down the road my brakes completely locked up on me and by the time I could safely pull over, all 4 tires were smoking (I'm assuming coming from the brakes). I had it towed to a Ford dealer were I was notified that I was the 3rd Ford Edge this week to have the brake system lock up (one of the other vehicles was just purchased by the employee that I was speaking with and his brakes locked up the day after purchasing it, while driving down the highway). In my situation the "Service AdvanceTrec/ABS/traction control" lights came on and next thing I know the brakes are locked up and the car wouldn't go. Luckily I was alone in the car (I have children) and I was not at a high rate of speed, such as the highway. The Ford dealer inspected it and said my ABS system went haywire and I now need a new ABS system/modules after I just had the brake booster and master cylinder replaced. I don't think that it is a coincidence that 3 separate people with the same kind of vehicle (2011-2013 Ford Edge) all in 1 week had their brakes lockup. If there are 3 people in one week at this particular dealer, how many others are out there going through the same issue or have already had this happen? Hopefully Ford can resolve this issue before someone gets hurt or killed in an accident.
When driving, you loose power from the gas peddle, the wrench light appears, you must pull of the road, put the vehicle in park, turn it off, and then restart it, this can happen at any time, 20mp or 80mp, you never know when you will loose power of this vehicle. VERY DANGEROUS
Brake pedal is hard & won't stop vehicle & then goes soft. Has to be pressed to the floor to stop, also makes a high pitched squeal when pushed sometimes.
The “Vista” sunroof on my car is stuck open. This allows rain to come into my car providing hazardous driving conditions. The Ford dealer wants $4000 to repair & $500 to close. I’ve asked Ford several times for a detailed breakdown of costs, they have not provided anything to date.
WHILE DRIVING ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THEN SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK. DID THIS INTERMITTENTLY. GOT ON RAMP, TURNING WHEEL RIGHT ANTI LOCK BRAKES KICKED IN FOR NO REASON. IT WASN'T RAINING, NOT ICY, ETC. PARKED. WHEN I STARTED MY CARD DROVE 15 MINUTES, ABS LIGHT CAME BACK ON- THEN KICKED IN, FOR NO REASON.

I I CANNOT REMOVE THE HEAD RESTS ON THE REAR SEATS. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2014, I BELIEVE. IF I PUT THE REAR SEATS DOWN, IT'S OKAY, BUT WITH THEM UP, IT BLOCKS APPROX. 30% OF VIEW, OUT THE BACK WINDOW. TO ME, THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT DEALERS, BUT BEEN TOLD IT CANNOT BE DONE. THERE ARE BUTTONS TO PUSH (SAME AS ON THE FRONT SEATS), AND THE HEAD RESTS CAN BE RAISED AND LOWERED, BUT NOT TOTALLU REMOVED AS CAN BE DONE WITH THE FRONTS. ALSO, SEEMS WHEN I GO TO THE CAR WASH, THE RUBBER OF THE REAR WINDOW WIPER BLADE BECOMES TORN. SINCE I DON'T HARDLY EVER USE IT, I THOUGHT I'D JUST REMOVE IT. AGAIN, TO NO AVAIL. THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AJAR INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. THIS KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AND DRAINS THE BATTERY AND THE CAR WILL NOT LOCK. THIS CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN I HAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR AND I CANNOT LOCK THE CAR. ALSO, I WORK AROUND CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES AND IT IS REQUIRED THAT WE KEEP OUR CARS LOCKED. THIS PROBLEM IS REALLY STRESSING ME OUT AND I FEEL FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE. ALSO, MY AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHTS STAY ON CONTINOUSLY WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME BECAUSE MY CAR WAS OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED! HOW CAN THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL EVER EXPIRE? ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT'S THE MEANS OF BEING ABLE TO STOP! THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY, ALSO ON BUSY ROAD. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO COME IN WHEN IT WAS HAPPENING, WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE THERE IS NO ACCELERATION TO DRIVE. 2011 FORD EDGE 102K MILES. FRONT DRIVER DOOR LIGHT AJAR, THE DOOR INDICATING ITS AJAR KEEPS THE LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE ILLUMINATED, THIS IN TURNED DRAINED THE BATTERY. VERY HARD TO TELL THE LIGHTS INSIDE ARE ON DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS. UNFORTUNATELY THIS SITUATION LEFT MY WIFE AND KIDS STRANDED. LOOKED UP SOLUTIONS FOR THIS WHEN I RAN ACROSS THE RECALL 19N09 FOR THIS SITUATION. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THE ISSUE. THEY NOTED THIS WAS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE CARS. UNFORTUNATELY TODAY'S DATE (8/26/20) WAS 26 DAYS PAST THE RECALL EXPIRATION DATE OF 7/31/20. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THEY COULDN'T FIX THE ISSUE UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO THE EXPIRATION AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST $471. I CALLED FORD DIRECTLY WHERE THEY POLITELY TOLD ME I MISSED THE DATE AND THEREFORE I WAS ON MY OWN. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD'S DECISION TO NOT STAND BEHIND THE RECALL AND TAKE CARE OF THE KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE EDGE AFTER BEING ONLY 26 DAYS AFTER A RECALL EXPIRED. I ASKED FORD IF THEY HAD NOTIFIED ME OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE RECALL EXPIRING, THEY SAID THEY SENT ME A NOTICE IN JANUARY, I ASKED THEM TO CONFIRM THE ADDRESS THAT NOTICE WAS SENT TO AND THEY INTIMATELY ASKED ME TO VERIFY MY ADDRESS TO THEM. RED FLAG.... I GOT THE FEELING THEY DID NOT SEND OUT ANY NOTICE ON THIS RECALL AND THEY COULD NOT CONFIRM WHERE THEY SENT THE NOTICE TO. FORD ADVISED ME TO PAY UP, GET IT FIXED BUT KEEP THE RECEIPT IN CASE THE RECALL OPENS BACK UP THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR IT. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SITUATION AND IN FORD. THE WAY THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IS NOT SAFE FOR MY WIFE AND KIDS TO DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I COULD JUST "DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL TO STOP THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING"! THE DRIVER DOOR ISSUE HAS FINALLY BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY FORD, AND THEY ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM ALERT IN JANUARY 2020, 19N09, WHICH WILL COVER THE COST OF FIXING THAT PROBLEM OR REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS BY OWNERS WHO PAID TO FIX ON THEIR OWN. HOWEVER, I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH REAR PASSENGER DOOR, AND FORD (JOYCE FROM ONLINE CUST. SERVICE) SAID THAT'S NOT A COVERED EVENT. WHY DOES IT TAKE FORD SO LONG TO ADDRESS SAFETY ISSUES?

I LOOKED INTO THIS ISSUES WITH THE 2011 EDGE AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A NOTICE PUT OUT ON THIS THROTTLE BODY IN OTHER VEHICLES FOR CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEM AND LEADING TO VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, HOWEVER MINE WASN'T INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY CAR - OIL CHANGES EVERY 5,000 MILES AND SPECIAL MAINTENANCE WHEN NECESSARY AND IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT.

I HAD TO GET HELP PUSHING IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AFTER THAT TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT SINCE IT STOPPED IN THE ROAD. WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED THE DASH LIT UP WITH A PICTURE OF THE ENGINE AND SAID TO CHECK POWER TO ENGINE. THERE WAS NO WARNING BEFOREHAND. I DO ALL MY OIL CHANGES AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER INDICATOR THAT SOMETHING WOULD HAVE BEEN WRONG. AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND GETTING THE CAR HOME IT NOW HAS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WON'T RUN CORRECTLY. WE CHANGED THE BATTERY DUE TO THE WORDING ABOUT ENGINE POWER AND THAT DIDN'T HELP. WHAT I AM MOST CONCERNED AND UPSET ABOUT IS AFTER THIS HAPPENED WE LOOKED THE PROBLEM UP ONLINE AND IT IS HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE. IF ANY OTHER PROBLEMS HAPPENED THAT MANY TIMES THAT CAUSED INJURIES THIS WOULD BE A RECALL AND CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY. EVEN IF IT DOES GO OFF WHEN THE DOOR SHUTS, IT NOW COMES BACK ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON, THE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ILLUMINATED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN EXITING THE CAR AS WELL WHICH AGAIN DOES NOT ALLOW IT TO BE LOCKED AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON DRAINING THE BATTERY. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE BUT FORD HAS DECIDED NOT TO DO A RECALL. CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSORS ON THEIR OWN WHICH IS ANYWHERE FROM $450 - $600. WHILE THERE ARE NO "SAFETY" ISSUES INVOLVED WITH THIS FAULTY SENSOR, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT FORD WOULD NOT CORRECT THIS ISSUE AFTER BUILDING IN ALL THE "SAFETY" FEATURES AROUND THE LOCKING PROCESS AND MECHANISMS.

ADDITIONALLY, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK DESPITE TRYING TO LOCK THEM USING THE LOCKING BUTTON LOCATED ON THE DOOR OR THE KEY FOB. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING ABOUT A YEAR AGO IN MARCH 2016. I KNOW MANY OTHER 2011 FORD EDGE DRIVERS SUFFER FROM THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE LIGHTS REMAIN ON MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AND DRAINS THE BATTERY LEAVING THE DRIVER STRANDED DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. THE UNLOCKED DOORS COULD RESULT IN SOMEONE OPENING THE DOOR IN A DANGEROUS NEIGHBORHOOD AND FORCING THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER FORM THE VEHICLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY OR FORD WILL NO LONGER RECEIVE MY BUSINESS.

I INFORMED THEM THAT I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THE NHTSB RE-OPENED INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ISSUE AFTER RECEIVING MORE THAN 1500 COMPLAINTS AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WEREN'T TOLD TO ISSUE A RECALL YET, SO THE REPAIR IS NOT COVERED. THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SLOWLY BEGAN FAILING. AT ROUGHLY 35K MILES, THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING WOULD APPEAR ON MY VEHICLE DISPLAY. I WOULD RECLOSE THE DOOR AND THE WARNING WOULD GO AWAY. IT RANDOMLY CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND RESOLVE ITSELF WHILE STATIONARY OR WHILE RUNNING, UNTIL ABOUT 95K MILES ( 8 MO AGO). THERE WERE ELECTRONIC SPRAYS YOU COULD SPRAY INTO THE LATCH MECHANISM THAT WOULD MAKE THE WARNING GO AWAY FOR A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME. EVENTUALLY THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL MECHANISM FAILED. I COULD NOT LOCK MY DOORS WITH THE IGNITION ON AND EVENTUALLY JUST LEARNED TO 'APPROVE/OK' THE WARNING EVERY TIME THE IGNITION WAS ON. UNFORTUNATELY THERE WERE SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING WITH AN SEMI-LATCHED/OPEN DOOR. I DIDN'T KNOW BECAUSE I 'OK'D THE 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING LIKE NORMAL. THE ONLY WAY I WOULD KNOW SOMETHING WAS DIFFEENT, WOULD BE WHEN I DROVE AT A HIGH ENOUGH RATE OF SPEED TO NOTICE THE INCREASED ROAD NOISE FROM MY SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT NEWER VEHICLES AUTOMATICALLY LOCK ONCE UNDER WAY TO DISENGAGE THE DOOR OPENING MECHANISM IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THAT MIGHT OPEN THE DOOR- CLEARLY THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH THE FAILED DOOR LATCH. THE ONLY WORK AROUND THAT I HAVE DISCOVERED IS TO REMOVE A FUSE WHICH REMOVES THE INTERIOR LIGHTING AND PREVENTS THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING. I STILL HAVE TO 'OK" THE 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING THOUGH. AS FOR LOCKING THE VEHICLE FOR SAFETY IN AN ACCIDENT, IF YOU LOCK THE VEHICLE FIRST THEN TURN ON THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE REMAINS LOCKED. THIS WORKAROUND IS RARELY GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE REAL WORLD. THERE WAS A 'CLEANING' PROCEDURE THAT SEVERAL DEALERS OFFERED FOR AROUND $200, BUT IT WAS NOT GUARANTEED AND THE $400 REPLACEMENT MIGHT STILL HAVE TO OCCUR WITH A LATCH THAT STILL OFTEN FAILED (PER INTERNET FORUMS). MY REPAIR IS SCHEDULED FOR 10/8/16.

THE 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING LIGHT ON MY 2011 EDGE PERIODICALLY COMES ON AND STAYS ON. THE WARNING INDICATES THAT VARIOUS DOORS ARE OPEN. SOMETIMES IT'S THE DRIVER DOOR; OTHER TIMES IT'S THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR OR THE BACK GATE. EACH TIME THE DOORS WERE CLOSED PROPERLY, HOWEVER THE SENSOR THINKS THAT THE DOORS ARE OPEN. THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS AND THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE SIDE MIRRORS TO REMAIN ON, WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY. ORIGINALLY, I THOUGHT THIS ISSUE WAS A PROBLEM SPECIFIC TO MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IN AN ATTEMPT TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM, I CONDUCTED AN INTERNET SEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THE 'DOOR AJAR' WARNING IS A COMMON AND WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD PRODUCTS INCLUDING THE EDGE. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A RESULT OF USE OR WEAR AND TEAR OF THE VEHICLE; IT CLEARLY IS A MECHANICAL /ENGINEERING FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THIS SITUATION IS A SAFETY ISSUES AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2016, I SENT AN EMAIL TO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER (CRC), EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM AND SEEKING HELP. I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER (CAS-10612005-P1F4G7) AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT A LOCAL DEALER TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM. ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2016, A SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE FROM BEAU TOWNSEND FORD INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE DOOR LATCH AND THE COST TO REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $385.00 PER LATCH. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR.NEXT, I CALLED THE CRC TO APPEAL THE DECISION.I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM AND THAT FORD WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I HAD NO FURTHER RECOURSE REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT STAY IN EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE. *THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. *THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON IN THE VEHICLE WHILE STARTING TO DRIVE AND STAY ON UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE. * I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION I HAD THE DOOR LATCH REPLACED ONCE A FEW YEARS AGO FOR THE SAME ISSUE.... THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT , THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A WHILE AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE. AND IT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY WITH KIDS IN THE VEHICLE.

THE DRIVE SIDE DOOR KEEPS SAYING AJAR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU CLOSE IT. THIS CAUSES A VARIETY OF ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS A SENSOR PROBLEM. THE CAR WILL DING THINKING THAT KEYS ARE NOT IN THE IGNITION AND AT TIMES HAVE CAUSED THE DOOR NOT CLOSE. THIS ALSO CAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON WHEN ALL DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND IN PARK.

THEY THEN SAID THEY COULD DO IT FOR $325, TO WHICH I DECLINED AGAIN. THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL, NOR IS IT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ASIDE FROM THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH, NO OTHER ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED. I.E. LIGHTS ON, BATTERY DEAD. ...YET.

THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL SHOWS UP WHEN I START THE CAR, AND PREVENTS TO DOORS FROM LOCKING. DOME LIGHT STAYS ON, AS WELL AS LIGHTING UNDER BOTH SIDE MIRRORS WHICH IS CAUSING BATTERY DRAIN. SOMETIMES YOU CAN CLEAR THE DOOR AJAR BY OPENING IT AGAIN AND SLAMMING IT VERY HARD. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT OF THIS HAPPENING, AND HAD IT LAST FIXED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN JUNE OF 2013.

WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND I LOCK THE DOOR WITH THE KEY FOB, IF THE SENSOR IS ON THE HORN WILL HONK TWICE. THIS WILL CAUSE NOT ONLY MY INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ON BUT ALSO MY EXTERIOR LIGHT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I'VE HAD TO REPLACE A FEW BATTERIES. THE 1ST TIME I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND ONLY HAPPENING OCCASIONALLY, I WAS TOLD TO SPRAY WD-40 ON THE LOCK LATCH AND THAT WOULD HELP. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE MOVING, IT ALLOWS YOUNG CHILDREN TO OPEN THE DOORS, REGARDLESS OF THE LOCK SWITCH SETTINGS.

THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY, AND I WILL BE PAYING $430 TO GET IT FIXED. THE PART ONLY IS $380. I AM FURIOUS. I HAVE READ ON NUMEROUS SITES THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD EDGE'S. THEY REALLY SHOULD RECALL THIS.

WHEN DRIVING FORWARD, THE LIGHTS GO OUT AROUND 15 MPH. THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH IS ON EVERY TIME THE DOOR IS SHUT.

THIS INITIALLY STARTED IN 2014 BUT THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT "SCRAPED THE PLATES" WHICH WORKED FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS, UNTIL MY VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE 36000 MILE WARRANTY.

BACKUP CAMERA LINKAGE FAILURE RENDERING THE BACK CAMERA INOPERATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BUT PROBLEM WITH SHIFTER SWITCH REPORTING THE CAR NOT IN PARK COULD RESULT IN THE CAR NOT CUTTING OFF OR STOPPING WHEN RUNNING. TO FIX THESE MALFUNCTIONS AND FAILURES COST OVER $900 DOLLARS. THESE ARE ENGINEERING DEFECTS NOT OWNER RELATED.

SHE CONFIRMED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME AND THAT FORD WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP OUT TO REIMBURSE THE COST OF THE FIX EITHER AND SHE WAS SORRY AT THIS TIME. LIKE I SAID, I COULD BE MARKING THIS FORM DIFFERENTLY IF THE OFFICER DIDN'T PROTECT US. THE PART WAS NOT CHEAP ALONG WITH THE LABOR. WITH SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE BREAKING DOWN FOR THE SAME REASON, I AM SHOCKED AND APPALLED THAT THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS YET. I URGE YOU TO CHANGE THAT AND KEEP THE ROADS SAFE FOR ALL DRIVERS. I HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT AT ABOUT14000 MILES WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 6 MONTHS, IN APRIL 2014 THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR OVERHEATED ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND EMPTIED ALL THE ANTIFREEZE ON THE THIRD TIME. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, DEALER FOUND NO ERROR CODES AND LET THE VEHICLE RUN FOR 4 HRS WITH THE A/C ON AND FOUND NOTHING TO BE WRONG. A FEW WEEKS LATER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN, LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 35 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. RESTARTED CAR AND CONTINUED HOME. ALSO, THE CAR HAS DIED WHILE 5 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN WHILE SITTING IN A DRIVE THROUGH FOR A FEW MINUTES. AND FINALLY YESTERDAY, THE CAR JUST STOPPED 4 TIMES WITHIN A 2 MILE PERIOD. VERY FRUSTRATED AND AFRAID THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN I AM TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND POSSIBLE GET REAR ENDED OR KILLED. *JS

THE SYNC SYSTEM IS CONSISTENTLY LOCKING UP, THE MUSIC PLAYS WHEN THE DASHBOARD STATES THE AUDIO IS OFF, WHEN THIS HAPPENS NONE OF THE BUTTOMS WORK. I HAVE BEEN PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF, OPEN THE DOOR TO MAKE THE SCREEN CLEAR, THIS DOES NOT WORK. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SYNC SYSTEM WILL RE-BOOT ITSELF AND THEN IT WORKS AGAIN. THE BLUETOOTH SYSTEM IS ALWAYS DISCONNECTING MY PHONE OR I CALL SOMEONE AND I CAN'T HEAR THEM, TO THE POINT I DON'T EVEN USE THE BLUETOOTH ANYMORE. WHEN THE MOTOR IS SHUT OFF AND YOU OPEN THE VEHICLES DOOR THE SCREEN SHOULD COME UP WITH FORD EMBLEM. THE SYNC SYSTEM LOCKING UP INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES AND I'M FIXING TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME ANSWER THERE WAS AN UPDATE THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. IT IS FORDS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE WHEN A VEHICLE IS SOLD NEW FOR $40K, THAT IT WORKS. OF COURSE I STILL HAVE TO MAKE MY MONTHLY PAYMENT TO FORD, IF THIS CONTINUES I'M GOING TO LOOK INTO THE LEMON LAW BECAUSE THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
DRIVING AND TRANSMISSION DROPS HARD. I THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES TYPICALLY WHEN FOOT IT OFF GAS. SAFETY CONCERN AS THE DROP IS SO SEVERE, SOMETIMES IT DOES THIS TWO TO THREE TIMES IN A ROW. VEHICLE TENDS TO BUCK IN EXTREME. DEALER CANT "RECREATE" PROBLEM. DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ON 5/19 STILL HAVE ISSUES. VEHICLE WILL BE IN TO DEALER FOR 4TH TIME IN ONE MONTH.

ACTUAL VOICE COMMANDS THAT WORK VARY FROM SPECIFIC COMMAND LISTS IN MANUAL (BOTH V1 AND V2) INCLUDING SUPPLEMENT. THE SAME COMMANDS DO NOT WORK TWICE. SD NAVI SYSTEM WITH TRAFFIC ALERTS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IN URBAN AND HIGHWAY ENVIRONS. THE SYSTEM PRESENTS MYRIAD TRAFFIC ALERTS. NO VOICE COMMAND IS AVAILABLE TO SELECT "AVOID/IGNORE/DETAILS AND SHOULD BE. ONE MUST VISUALLY DISTRACT EYES FROM WINDSHIELD/ROAD TO TOUCH THE CENTER STACK CONSOLE DISPLAY SCREEN TO RETURN TO NAVIGATION MAP. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK AND WILL RESULT IN TRAFFIC CRASH. REPORTED TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY DO NOT SEEM CONCERNED.

BEFORE LEAVING MY HOME, I TRIED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO PROGRAM THE BUILT-IN GPS TO GUIDE ME TO MY DESTINATION. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES, I STOPPED AT A REST STOP. UPON RESTARTING MY VEHICLE, THE ENTIRE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY INCLUDING RADIO, CLIMATE CONTROL, BACK-UP CAMERA, GPS AND OTHER SAFETY FEATURES FAILED TO WORK WHATSOEVER. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE A FOX FOR THIS FOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS AND THAT ALL OF HIS OTHER 2011 EDGE CUSTOMERS WERE SUFFERING THE SAME PROBLEM. CALLING FORD CORPORATE, I WAS MET WITH EVEN LESS DETAIL ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY PRETENDED THAT I AM THE ONLY CUSTOMER WITH THIS PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE, THAT IS ALL IT CAN DO AND FRANKLY, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I DON'T WHAT ELSE MAY SIMPLY STOP WORKING. FORD REFUSED MY REQUEST FOR A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED.
