While driving I came upon a red light. While sitting at the red light I noticed my car began to loose power and started shaking. My RPM dropped to almost 0. My car was loosing power while driving. No light has appeared on my dashboard, my gas tank said I had 98 miles till empty. I had two young kids in my vehicle. I anxiously started tapping the gas a little and made in into the nearest parking lot. This is unacceptable as I was in the middle of the road with children. I sat in my car with it on idle and nothing happened.

Brake booster went out twice and had to be replaced both times ( Jan 2022 and Jan 2023). Now I have HCU failure and lost braking. ( Dec. 2024). I also had a drive Shaft failure for inspection ( Oct. 2024). My car has 60,000 miles on it. I contacted Ford Corporation and my Ford dealership and my Vin is not part of the recalls for any of these issues. However my model year and manufacturer location were part of a recall for all three of these systems. My car has been serviced by a Ford authorized dealer each time. My braking system continues to be unreliable and scary to drive.

Put car in for regular service, and to investigate burning smell and transmission slippage. Mechanic found that the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) was completely filled with a paste-like sludge. (he has pictures) Mechanic says that the PTU is too close to the catalytic converter, therefore overheating the PTU and literally boiling the transfer fluid. He was able to clean the module, but says there's still a leak around the PTU seal. The work required to replace the seal, would also merit replacing the PTU. BUT, this is a $800 part! The safety risk would have been my transmission completely seizing up and causing an accident due to mechanical failure. The vehicle has had all of it's regular and milestone service work performed. No warning lights went off. I'm on borrowed time with this part and/or new transmission. Will there be a remedy to prevent this in the future?

I purchased my Ford from a used car lot and only 3 months later without any alerts my brake pedal goes to the floor. It makes a hissing sound like air being released. My brakes and fluid are fine? Why are their recalls on my same year vehicle, but not mine. I understand replacing brake booster, master cylinder will NOT help. Now I am broke from purchasing my Ford, I can't afford to dump more money into a vehicle that can't be fixed. You need to recall the entire car! Now my dash lights go crazy, even ABS once? This car is a freaking lemon and someone is going to get hurt. Then Ford will responsible for their manufactory error?

2013 FORD EDGE-Consumer had already taken vehicle for tune up 2 months after purchase. Consumer heard bad thumping noise from back of vehicle. Consumer took it to a mechanic and was told about Recall # 14V393000- Power Train: Axle Assembly. Axle Shaft. Consumer mentioned the 15 yr. rule. Consumer replaced power train, new brake shoes, and rotors. Dealership where vehicle was purchased never informed consumer before the purchase of the recall. Consumer states others have reported similar experience from same dealer. Retail installment contract attached.

This is in regards to Recall # 14S10 (Ford) and NHTSA # 14V393000. I was driving my 2013 Ford Edge when turning there was a pop, and vehicle would not engage into any gear causing an extreme safety issue. After being towed, it was noted that the intermediate shaft was broke and sheared the gears off. This is a very uncommon finding. We contacted Ford and was told there was not a recall on this vehicle. Therefore, we replaced, through Ford, the intermediate shaft and 2 new CV axles (ordered through a parts store). Once repairs were completed, the CV axle seal leaked and was also replaced. It started shaking upon acceleration. We then replaced the motor mounts and struts in an attempt to fix the problem. We also put another CV axle on passenger side at that time. At this point, after speaking to several different professionals regarding our problem, we were then informed that there WAS a recall for this very problem on 2013 Edge. We contacted Ford again and gave them the recall numbers. They then agreed that the recall should have included this vehicle but that our particular VIN number was not included in the initial recall. We were advised by Ford to bring the vehicle in and let them inspect it. After inspection, they found that when the intermediate shaft went out, it damaged the transmission. They also stated that looking into the history of this vehicle, this is not the first time for this problem with this particular Edge. They stated this should've been included in the original recall as this is the exact reason for the recall. We were advised to contact you with this complaint so that this Edge with Vin number can be added to the recall and fixed accordingly. This Edge is currently at the Ford dealer awaiting your response. I implore you to consider adding this VIN # to the original recall. The Ford dealer is in agreement that this is the exact reason for the recall. Thankfully, no one was injured during the initial incident which could have been serious.

As I was driving in a 25 mph zone and after I just came to a stop the car would not move then started lurching and I was able to make it into a parking lot , had to have car towed and then was told by mechanic p t u had failed . That cost me 2200.00 And now 17,000 miles later the transmission goes out and it’s going to be 3900.00 . The car is currently at Liberty Ford in Brunswick, Ohio 330-225-9141 Rich the general manager told me to call him but has yet to return my phone call .

Flexplate rattle. Tsb from the lawsuits for years 2015 to 2018 days they have to replace the long block. Meaning I’ll have to replace either my transmission or engine and I have already replaced the transmission once in this car. There needs to be a recall and it cover ALL 6f35 transmissions.

My shifter cable degraded and I had to have it towed to Keith's Automotive Center in Torrance, CA. They supposedly fixed it but it is not working again. I saw that Ford recalled 2015-2018 Edge's (Campaign 22V413000) but I feel my year could possible be a problem as well. I have since taken it back to Keith's but they refused to look at it again even though it was under their warranty.

On June 7th, 2022 my wife [XXX] was driving her 2013 Ford Edge and stopped at the Belks Department store located at the Tri-City Mall located in Forest City, NC 28043. She parked her car and went inside to shop. After approximately 10 minutes shopping inside the store, she hears an announcement over the Belks Store intercom “ Would the person driving a White Ford Edge please come to the cosmetic counter. When she walks over to the counter a store employee, and a customer, told her that her car had rolled down the parking lot and hit a parked tractor trailer rig ( trailer only). Fortunately it did not hit any other cars located in the parking lot. The front end of the Ford Edge was severely damaged, including, front hood, front bumper, grilles, coolant fan, and other front end items. The tractor trailer was not damaged. Traction control. Stabiltrak, and ABS system all randomly failed at 69,000 miles. They were intermittently going in and out for two days now come on every time. The car does not even have 100,000 miles. I have replaced the transmission and have countless electrical issues. The blend door actuators are all faulty. Known common issue that will cost a thousand to fix. Master brake cylinder has been replaced and still having faulty petal issues that is no longer covered. The panoramic roof does not work and it is a known issue almost every edge has. And now sever safety issues with the ABS system and traction control. There is no excuse for this poor manufacturing and no recalls to fix them. There were absolutely zero warning signs or check engine lights that came on prior to any of these systems happening. The transmission never through a code at all until after it locked up. The ABS system went out while driving down the road on a rainy day causing me to loose control and luckily I was able to get it into the ditch instead of into oncoming traffic. It put my life and my friends lives in danger. Ford should be sued for this and made to recall every single edge or other vehicle with these components. I have no fixed the issue yet because I wanted to submit this issue to the NHTSA and have it available to be inspected if they wanted. This vehicle is extremely unsafe and has had issues non stop. The transmission went out also while driving on the highway and just locked up causing me to almost get hit from the rear. And the replacement transmission is already having issues again with less than 15,000 miles on it. This

THERE HAS BEEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED ON THIS 14 DECEMBER 2017, BUT REPAIR OF SHIFTER KIT -PARK DETECT SWITCH, 2011-2014 EDGE IS NOT COVERED AS A RECALL ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM.

THE ABS WENT OUT. BRAKES WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, A BRAKE LINE GAVE OUT AND WAS LEAKING' THAT NEEDED TO BE FULLY REPLACED' POWER BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED' THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 4-5 MONTHS. THE WRENCH IDIOT LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS LOSE OF POWER. IT HAS COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEN GOES AWAY AND THEN THE CAR IS FINE.

CAR WAS SERVICED IN MASSACHUSETTS PRIOR TO DRIVING TO FLORIDA. DEALER RECOMMENDED NEW BRAKES AND AIR CABIN FILTER. NO MENTION OF OTHER ISSUES DURING 99 POINT INSPECTION (REPORT NOT PROVIDED). REACHED FLORIDA AND CAME OFF HIGHWAY AND WAS CUT OFF AND SLAMMED ON BRAKES. HEARD A LARGE BOOM AND TRIED TO DRIVE FORWARD AND WOULD NOT DRIVE. REACHED PARKING LOT AND CAR WOULD REVERSE BUT WHEN MOVING FORWARD WOULD SKIP. HAD IT TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAD EXPLODED. MOST LIKELY HAD LEAK THAT WAS NOT DISCOVERED DURING CAR SERVICING. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE AWD FORD EDGE. SURPRISED THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL.

AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS TO BE BOTH VERY COSTLY AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. AFTER BRINGING UP THE METALLIC NOISE A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I FINALLY ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE PTU UNIT WHICH IT WAS CONFIRMED TO BE.

AFTER DIAGNOSING IT MYSELF I ASKED THEM TO CHECK POWER TRANSFER UNIT WHICH WAS MAKING A METALLIC SOUND. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS AND CERTAINLY COSTLY CONDITION WITH THIS CAR.

HAD TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 48,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ON A CITY STREET DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH. I HAD TO CALL THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THEM COME PARK BEHIND THE CAR BECAUSE MULTIPLE PEOPLE ALMOST HIT ME WHILE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A SINGLE SPLIT SECOND THEN WENT OFF. RIGHT AFTER THE TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT AND ENGINE SHUT OFF AS A WAY TO PROTECT THE MOTOR. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY SEVERAL PEOPLE. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT IDLED FINE. AS SOON AS I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. THIS COULD HAVE GOTTEN ME AND MY GF SERIOUSLY INJURED. REAR CROSS TRAFFIC WARNING SIGNALS GO OFF WHEN NOTHING IS AROUND. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND IS SUPER ANNOYING.

AT LESS THAN 69,000 MILES, MY 2013 FORD EDGE DEVELOPED A WHINE IN THE POWER TRAIN, NOTED BY MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. I OWN ONE VEHICLE AND I LIVE 13 MILES FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN COATESVILLE WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN 2013. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT AND INDICATED IT COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME (CAUSING A REAL SAFETY ISSUE). RELUCTANT TO RISK DRIVING IT ANY MORE THAN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, I HAD IT REPLACED AT A COST OF $2,000. THE DEALER SUBMITTED A CLAIM TO FORD TO SEEK ANY FINANCIAL HELP, SINCE IT HAD LESS THAN 69,000 MILES. CLAIM WAS DENIED ON THE BASIS THAT IT WAS BEYOND THE 60,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY THRESHOLD AND THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN CONTINUALLY SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP. AT LESS THAN 9,000 BEYOND THE WARRANTY THE PTU FOR THIS 2013 FORD WAS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND IT CRIES OUT FOR A RECALL.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER DISPLAYED. STARTED NOTICING SMALL DRIPS OF DARK BLACK LIQUID ON DRIVEWAY WHERE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE DRIP WAS FROM THE PTU/POWER TAKEOFF UNIT. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE BECAUSE THE LUBRICANT CANNOT BE CHANGED NOR DOES THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMEND ANY MAINTENANCE ON THE UNIT. FAILURE OF THE PTU IS DANGEROUS AND WILL RESULT IN VEHICLE DISABLEMENT. THEREFORE THE ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT WITH A NEW ONE THAT FORD HAS ADDED A DRAIN PLUG FOR LUBRICANT CHANGES AT SCHEDULED INTERVALS. THIS REPAIR WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $2000 PLUS LOSS OF THE USE OF VEHICLE.

IT STARTED WITH A BURNT OIL SMELL THAT COULD BE SMELT INSIDE THE VEHICLE ONCE IN A WHILE. THEN LITTLE BY LITTLE GRINDING NOISES STARTED TO BE HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AFTER SLOWING DOWN FROM A HIGHER SPEED. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHEN STEERING AND A RATTLING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. ONCE IN A WHILE AND THEN STARTED BAGGING WHEN I WOULD GO TO ACCELERATE. THE NOISE IS MADE FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WERE INTERMITTENT SOMETIMES THEY WOULD DO IT AND SOMETIMES THEY WOULD NOT AND MANY TIMES THEY GOT VERY LOUD. YOU COULD HEAR THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND MORE SO WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BIGGER FORWARD WHEN GIVING A LITTLE GAS. THE VEHICLE BEGAN EMITTING A SMELL INTERMITTENTLY, WHICH WAS LATER DETERMINED TO BE GEAR OIL FROM THE TRANSFER CASE. EVENTUALLY, THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A GRINDING SOUND WHILE STEERING AND STOPPING UNTIL THE TRANSFER CASE BLEW UP AND DESTROYED THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED, WAS TOLD THAT THIS TRANSFER CASE WAS AN "ISSUE" IN THESE CARS. AFTER REPAIR, THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE NOISES AGAIN, GEAR OIL SMELLS IN THE PASSENGER CABIN, AND SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TRANSFER CASE AGAIN BLEW UP, FILLING THE PASSENGER CABIN WITH SMOKE AND DISABLING THE VEHICLE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY LESS THAN 100 MILES AFTER PREVIOUS REPAIR. TRANSFER CASE REPLACED AGAIN, WAS DRIVEN BY THE MECHANIC FOR 26 MILES, AND AGAIN BLEW UP LEAVING THE VEHICLE DISABLED. THE TRUE FAILURE APPEARS THAT THE CAR IS FAILING TO SWITCH FROM AWD TO FWD WHEN IT GETS UP TO HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING REPEATED FAILURES TO THE ENTIRE SYSTEM AND DISABLING THE CAR PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY AT RISK EACH TIME. FORD IS AWARE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE. THE PARTS DEPARTMENT HAS DOZENS OF TRANSFER CASES AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS AVAILABLE TO CONTINUE REPLACING AND THEY KNOW THAT THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS AT RISK. THE VEHICLE AS NOTED IN THEIR RECORDS AND MY ODOMETER, HAD ONLY 39,100 MILES AT THIS TIME. PER RESEARCH ON THE WEB IT APPEARS THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FORD EDGE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND DISCONTINUED USING THAT PARTICULAR PTU. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MULTIPLE TIMES WHICH IS HORRIBLE AND TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I LEAVE WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEXT UNEXPECTED BLOW OUT ON THE BRAKES. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GOOGLE THIS MODEL AND THERE ARE TONS AND TONS OF REPORTS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. FORD SHOULD STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS AND FIX TO AVOID INJURIES, DEATH AND LAWSUITS. ON THE WAY HOME IT DID THE SAME THING. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND REMOVING THE KEY, CAR STARTS BACK UP. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER. THEY TOO SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AND THAT WHEN I TURN THE ENGINE OFF IT CLEARS THE COMPUTER. THEY RETURNED THE CAR BUT CHARGED $140. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED TWO DAYS LATER. CALLED FORD FROM SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEY SAID THEIR TRANSMISSION GUY WAS OFF UNTIL TUESDAY (THIS WAS FRIDAY AFTERNOON). DROVE ABOUT 8 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES. I HAVE READ THAT MANY FORD EDGE'S HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ETB BUT AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL.

I BOUGHT A USED 2013 FORD EDGE: SPORT TRIM, 3.7L AWD WITH 84,000 MILES ON JUNE 8TH. INSPECTION WAS FINE. I DROVE IT HOME 1400 MILES THE NEXT 2 DAYS, AND NEVER DROVE IT HARD AT ALL. IT RAINED THE WHOLE WAY. DRIVING FELT A BIT ODD AT TIMES, THOUGH I ATTRIBUTED THAT TO MY UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE NEW VEHICLE. UPON ARRIVING HOME I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR TRANSMISSION LEAK. UPON MY RE-INSPECTION, IT WAS DRIPPING AT EVERY STOP, SOMETIMES LEAVING 2-5" DIAMETER PUDDLES. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT TRANSMISSION WAS FINE, BUT THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT WAS LEAKING AND THE ENTIRE UNIT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. COST OF REPAIR, $1800. UPON RESEARCHING, THE UNIT WHICH CLAIMS TO HAVE A "LIFETIME FLUID" OF GEAR-OIL HAS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW IN WHICH THE UNIT IS NOT PROPERLY COOLED, AND THE "LIFETIME FLUID" BREAKS DOWN DUE TO HEAT, CAUSING THE UNIT TO FAIL. THIS SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW COULD HAVE CAUSED MY TRIP THROUGH THE RAIN TO HAVE RESULTED IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT WOULD HAVE ENDANGERED MY SAFETY, THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE IN THE RAIN, AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I AM NOW STUCK UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD THE $1800 REPAIR, AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION IS DANGEROUS. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP, AND FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

2013 EDGE WITH 53,000 MILES - 3-4 MONTHS OUT OF THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT NOISES WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD (I.E. GRINDING NOISE, ENGINE RUNNING IRREGULAR, AND FAINT HUMMING AT ENGINE/TRANSMISSION). THIS ONLY HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 3-4 TIMES TOTAL WITH MANY DAYS IN BETWEEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. VERY SLIGHT AT FIRST AND PROGRESSED AND BECAME LITTLE MORE PRONOUNCED. WHEN I WOULD STOP, THE ENGINE WAS CALM AND STILL. I WOULD WONDER IF IT WAS EVEN STILL RUNNING. IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP OVER A WEEK TO DIAGNOSE BECAUSE IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE MECHANIC HAD TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FINALLY, FORMALLY DIAGNOSED 5/22/19 AS A FAILED PTU. NO FLUID LEAKS AND ALL SEALS INTACT. VERY LITTLE PRICE BREAK ON LABOR AND/OR PARTS. THE DEALERSHIP REFERS YOU TO CORPORATE FORD FOR ANY PART AND/OR WARRANTY COMPLAINTS. SINCE THERE WAS NO CORE CHARGE, I DID REQUEST THAT THE FAILED PART BE RETURNED AFTER REPLACEMENT. WITHOUT INTERVENTION TO FORCE FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS PROBLEM, THIS PART WILL CONTINUE TO BE PRODUCED AND INSTALLED ON VEHICLES. LASTLY, WITH THE FOREKNOWLEDGE MENTIONED ABOVE ABOUT THIS VEHICLES' PTU ISSUES. I WOULD CERTAINLY HESITATE TO BUY ANY FORD EDGE OR FLEX BECAUSE OF THIS SUBSTANDARD PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR CONSUMER SAFETY REASONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V393000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH WAS FOR THE 2014 MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED 10 POWER TRAIN TSB BUT WITH NO RECALL CAMPAIGN, NO WARRANTY COVERAGE THEY EXPECTED THE OWNER TO HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,250.

AFTER THE CAR QUIT COMPLETELY IT THEN WAS RESTARTED. IT CONTINUED TO ACT UP. A FRIEND CHECKED IT AND HIS COMPUTER WAS SHOWING CODES FOR THE THROTTLE BODY AND SENSORS. IT IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOTE MY COMPLAINT AND IF IT IS EVER RECALLED OR OK'D FOR AND EXTENDED WARRANTY THEN THEY WOULD LET US KNOW AND SHE COULD BE REIMBURSED. WE LIVE OFF 2 STATE TRUCK ROUTES THAT ARE HEAVILY TRAVELED, BUT AS SHE IS A YOUNG FEMALE AT DARK WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS DARK AND THE ROAD IS ICY AND ITS COLD ENOUGH THAT SCHOOLS AND PLACES HAVE SHUT DOWN AND PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM EXPOSURE IN THIS , I WILL NOT LOSE A CHILD BECAUSE FORD IS TO LAZY TO PULL THEIR HEAD OUTTA THEIR KEISTER AND START THINKING OLD SCHOOL AGAIN AND CONSIDER THEIR CUSTOMERS. FIX THE ISSUE! DON'T SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG BECAUSE ITS EASIER THAN FACING YOUR "NEW STYLE" VEHICLES HAVE ISSUES. I HAVE NO USE FOR FORD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME BY THE DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.

THE MANUAL IDENTIFIES THE WRENCH LIGHT SYMBOL AS "POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER" POWERTRAIN OR AWD FAULT HAS BEEN DETECTED. INCIDENT OCCURED ON 9/14/18 AT 8:20PM ON A CLEAR NIGHT WITH LITTLE HUMIDITY NEITHER THE RADIO OR THE HEAT/AC WAS ON. I HAD THE WINDOW PARTLY OPENED.

ONCE PARKED THE VEHICLE IDLED FINE BUT IF I WOULD PUT IT BACK INTO GEAR IT WOULD START THE SPUTTERING/DYING PROCESS AGAIN. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME I FILED A COMPLAINT AS WELL BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WASN'T AN ERROR CODE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE ON AND IT COMPLETELY CUT OUT AND I HAD TO MANEUVER MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER. ALL OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR LUCK I DON'T KNOW HOW I KEPT FROM BEING HIT DUE TO THE CAR PRETTY MUCH WOULD ONLY ROLL BECAUSE PRESSING ON THE GAS DID NOT GOOD. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A MAIN THOROUGH FARE AND EVEN ON A HIGHWAY IT BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND SLOW DOWN REGARDLESS OF PRESSING THE GAS. THEN IT BEGAN TO RIDE ROUGH AND CHOKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT. ALSO EXPERIENCED IT SHUTTING OFF WHILE SITTING WITH IT IDLE IN A FAST FOOD LINE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY INSISTED NOTHING WAS WRONG AND COULD NOT GET A READ ON THE COMPUTER. I REFUSED TO PICK IT UP FROM THE DEALER UNTIL THEY EXPERIENCED WHAT I EXPERIENCED AND IT FINALLY HAPPENED AFTER 9 DAYS.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE ISSUE FIRST OCCURED JUNE 5. AS I WAS LEAVING WORK THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING/HESITATING FROM A STOP OR DURING ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP/JERK WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. WOULD NOT SWITCH TO A HIGHER GEAR. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE WOULD JUMP/JERK WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT. PERIODS WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD GET TO SPEED THEN SLIP. THERE WAS NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS MALFUNCTION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT, AND LEFT IT WITH THEM AFTER THE SERVICE AGENT WAS BARELY ABLE TO DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE STATUS OF THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON JUNE 19TH, AND HAS NOT DRIVEN THE SAME PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE. THIS MORNING, JULY 13TH, WHEN I PULLED OUT ONTO THE FRONTAGE ROAD THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO SPEED AND HESITATED. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROADWAY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE.

LAST FRIDAY, 10/6/17, I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND THE SAME THING AGAIN, EXPECT THIS TIME, THE AUTOTRAIN ERROR (A WRENCH) CAME ON, AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT STOPPED 3 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME - EACH TIME I PULLED OVER (AS WELL AS I COULD), TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RECRANKED IT. EACH TIME I WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND RECRANK IT, THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF AND THEN COME BACK ON AS SOON AS THE CAR LOST POWER AGAIN. I FINALLY GOT IT HOME. MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO PUT A NEW BATTERY IN (SINCE I'M ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS THE DOOR OPEN ALERT - ANOTHER STORY). AFTER PUTTING THE BATTERY IN, HE DROVE IT AROUND FOR 30 MINUTES OR SO WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT WORKED FINE ALL WEEKEND. THE FOLLOWING WEDN., 10/11/17, I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER AGAIN - ENGINE STILL RUNNING, BUT NOTHING HAPPENING WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS AND THE AUTOTRAIN & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, TURN IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN CAME ON TO WORK WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS. IT'S TERRIFYING NOT KNOWING WHEN IT'S GOING TO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET & DISCOVERED THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THIS SAME PROBLEM & HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I'M TAKING IT BACK TO FORD THIS EVENING. I LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, THE WRENCH DISPLAYED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE STOPPING, THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND FORCED ME TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL TO CONTROL IT WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE. IF THERE WAS ANYONE INFRONT OF ME, I WOULD HAVE SURGED AND REAR-ENDED THEM CAUSING DAMAGE OR INJURY. THERE IS A LOT OF HISTORY ON THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES AND THEIR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION PROBLEMS IN THE EDGE, ESCAPE, EXPLORER, AND MUSTANGS. PLEASE GET THIS MAKE MODEL INCLUDED IN A RECALL.

CONTACTED FORD SERVICE AND MAKE APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN THE NEXT MORNING FOR DIAGNOSIS. TECHNICIAN VERIFIED CONCERN, TRIED TO PULL A CODE, WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ONE, BUT DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY INTERNAL FAILURE AND REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED PCM. THE FORD EDGE HAS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE PDU UNIT WHICH ACTUALLY FAILED. ACCORDING TO THE FORD MECHANICS THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE FAILURES CAUSING THE UNITS TO SPLIT OPEN REDENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. IF THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN IF FAILURE OCCURS WHEN DRIVING IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES. LUCKILY IF ONE IS VERY OBSERVANT AND NOTICES THE UNIT LEAKING OIL AND GET IT CHECKED OUT IT CAN BE REPLACED PRIOR TO TOTAL FAILURE. WHEN THE LEAK WAS SEEN ON OUR GARAGE FLOOR I GOT IT CHECKED OUT. NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ON A TRIP PRIOR TO GETTING IT CHECKED OUT AND LUCKILY DID NOT FAIL DURING THE 400 MILE TRIP. WHEN WE GOT HOME THE UNIT WAS LEAKING ALOT AND WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT WAS INSTALLED. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENTS IN THE FORD WAREHOUSE SYSTEM AND THAT IT COULD TAKE 2 TO 3 WEEKS TO GET IT IN. THIS REAFFIRMS THAT ALOT OF THESE UNITS ARE FAILING AND WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL UNTIL A MORE PERMANENT IS MADE. REPLACING A BAD PART DESIGN WITH THE SAME THING IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX, JUST A BAND-AID WHICH ONLY DELAYS ANOTHER FAILURE.

ALL LIGHTS WERE OFF COULD NOT SWITCH ON EMERGENCY LIGHTS. I TOWED MY CAR TO LOCAL SHOP IN THAT TOWN TO FIND THE ISSUE BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THEY COULD MANAGE TO SHUT OFF THE HEATER AND NEXT DAY IT WORKED BUT THEY ASKED ME TO TAKE TO FORD DEALER SHOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER SHOP IN MY TOWN BUT THEY ALSO DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUE AND ASSURE THAT ISSUE WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THIS RESULTS IN A FATALITY. I HAD TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY. I LEARNED ON MARCH 15TH THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH HAD GONE BAD AND SINCE IT STAYED ON IT KILLED MY BATTERY ALONG WITH MY THROTTLE BODY HAD GONE BAD IN MY CAR AS WELL. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER FORDS MODELS THAT HAD THESE SAME ISSUES WITH RECALLS OR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAMS BUT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND PARTS WEREN'T COVERED. I HAVE IN TURNED BEEN WAITING NOW 5 WEEKS FOR THE THROTTLE BODY PART FOR MY CAR, WHICH HAS LEFT ME HAVING TO BORROW A WAY TO GO BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX MY CAR AND PAY FOR A RENTAL. FORD STILL WILL NOT TELL ME WHY THE PART IS BACKORDERED. I DON'T SEE WHY ITS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER FORDS IN THIS YEAR RANGE WITH THESE SAME ISSUES THAT ARE BEING COVERED. 2013 FORD EDGE LIMITED AWD 2 WEEKS BEFORE THANKSGIVING..THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE A FEW MINUTES AFTER MY WIFE GOT HOME FROM A 16 MILE ROUND TRIP TO TOWN. I HEARD A HIGH PITCH NOISE FROM THE ENGINE, PERFORMED A VISUAL INSPECTION AND SAW NO PROBLEMS. ASSUMED IT WAS NORMAL AND THAT IT WOULD TURN OFF ON ITS OWN. MOST NEW VEHICLES HAVE A FUNCTION TO TURN OFF ANY DEVICE BEFORE IT DRAINS THE BATTERY. THE NEXT DAY WE WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. JUMPED IT AND MY WIFE TOOK TO WORK. WORKED FINE THE REST OF THE DAY. SHE GOT HOME AND I HEARD THE NOISE AGAIN. CHECKED IT WITH BATTERY TESTER AND HAD A LOAD ON THE VEHICLE AND BATTERY WAS ALREADY DOWN TO 75%. TOOK TO LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE DIAGNOSED AS MECHANISM IN TRANSMISSION STAYING ON AND RECOMMENDED DEALER REPAIR. DEALER MISDIAGNOSED IT AS AFTERMARKET AUTOSTART 2 TIMES AND CHARGED ME TO REPLACE THE BATTERY THE SECOND TIME. FINALLY ON THE 4TH TRIP TO THE DEALER, THE MALFUNCTION HAPPENED WHILE THEY HAD THE VEHICLE. DEALER REPLACED MECHANISM IN TRANSMISSION, THIS DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. DEALER ORDERED DRIVE TRAIN COMPUTER(WAITED OVER A MONTH FOR PART), THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE 40K MILES THAT I HAVE OWNED MY NEW FORD EDGE THE PTU SEAL HAS FAILED. THIS TIME WHEN THE DEALERSHIP TOOK IT APART TO REPLACE, THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS INSIDE, SO THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE UNIT. HORRIBLE SMELL, VERY CAUSTIC, MAKES MY NOSE BURN. HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING AND WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP OR SLOW DOWN THE CABIN FILLS WITH A NOXIOUS SMELL.

PART OF THE DASHBOARD WILL MADLY CHANGE ON ITS OWN GOING THOUGH THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS LIKE IT'S STUCK; THE NAVIGATION DISPLAY AND DASH BOARD WHEN STARTING THE CAR WILL NOT ALWAYS LIGHT UP LIKE IT USED TO DO. THERE IS A DELAY AT TIMES. THE AMBIANT LIGHTING NOMATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CHOOSE PINK IT ALWAYS DEFAULTS BACK TO BLUE ON ITS OWN. MY CAR HAS BEGUN TO MAKE A HORRIBLE NOISE UNDER THE CARRIAGE, WE SUSPECT IT IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO MOVE FORWARD. JUST THE OTHER EVENING AFTER LEAVING WORK, MY INTERIOR OVERHEAD LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF. NOMATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF. THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE DASH BOARD BEGAN A WHILE BACK AND THE NOISE JUST RECENTLY. THE MILEAGE ON MY CAR IS 36,000 MORE OR LESS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO OUR CAR. WELL TAKEN CARE OF, I DRIVE IT TO WORK AND BACK. THE CAR JUST TURNED IN AUGUST 2 YEARS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP THIS COMING TUESDAY. I BELIEVE MY CAR IS STILL UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, I PRAY THAT IT IS. JUST TODAY, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT LOCK AS WELL. I WILL UPDATE AS SOON AS I TAKE IT TO THE SERVICE DEPT.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT JOLT.THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS NOTHING WHAT HAPPENING. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF, I CAN TURN IT BACK ON AND IT IS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED AND THE LIGHT GOES AWAY AND I CAN CONTINUE DRIVING HOME.
