WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY LESS 60 MPH MY SUNROOF EXPLODED AND GLASS SHATTERED EVERYWHERE. I HAD MY CHILD IN THE CARSEAT WHILE THIS HAPPEN. THERE NOTHING THAT I HEARD OR VISIBLE THAT HIT IT. SO NOW IM TRYING TO GET IT REPLACE AND THE DEALERSHIP NEED TO ORDER THE GLASS AND I NEED TO WAIT. I FOUND OTHER REPORT ONLINE ABOUT THIS HAPENING TO THE SAME MODEL BUT THERES NO RECALL. BUT OTHER RECALL FOR OTHER FORD MODEL AND YEAR HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE.

Driving on the highway at night when suddenly the door alarm rings, dome light turned on causing driver to lose focus/control. Was driving at 60mph when the sensor faulted. The alarm/notification turns on at random times causing the vehicle to have the light stay on and drain battery. This is causing the driver unsure if the door is properly closed and risking the door opening in case of an accident. Problem has persisted.

THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN A PORBLEM FROM DAY ONE. WE CHANGED THEM TO A BRIGHTER BULB AND WE CANT SEEM TO GET THEM ADJUSTED. DOOR AJAR HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THE RIGHT REAR AND NOW IS DOING THE SAME THING ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS "HARD" WHEN WE PUSH IT AND I HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER YET IT SHOWS OUR EDGE HAS NO RECALLS. WE WILL BE TAKING IT TO OUR MECHANIC TO BE CHECKED.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. My 2013 ford edge has the sunroof rails broken . i think because they are made out of plastic. So the only thing holding the front of the glass is some wires to prevent it from the glass from catching air and catching air borne which will shatter the glass. Im really scare to take the freeway.

Yes, it can be inspected once the battery is charged or replaced. • How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It would not automatically lock the doors while driving. The vehicle is used to transport children. It would say the door is open despite it being closed and locked. The alarm would randomly go off with no one around. • Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The sensor malfunctioned so much, my battery is now dead. It has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center. • Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, it has not been inspected by anyone yet. • Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The messaging system would randomly tell me my door was open despite it being closed. It became more and more frequent as time went on. Before my battery died, it was happening 3-4 times a night.The issue first appeared in May or June of 2021

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BELL COLE FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT (2119 GREENUP AVE, ASHLAND, KY 41101) WHERE THE DOOR LATCHES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH 2013 FORD EDGE RECEIVE A MESSAGE ADVISING THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS AJAR EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS SECURELY SHUT. CHECKED ON INTERNET FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS CITING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EDGE INVOLVING ALL DIFFERENT DOORS. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY ENTITLED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 19N09 WHEREIN THEY ADVISE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH ON THE 2013 FORD EDGE SPECIFYING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING AND ADVISING THEY WILL REPLACE THE DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IT IS MY POSITION THEY USED THE SAME TYPE SETUP ON ALL DOORS ON THE 2013 FORD EDGE, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECT AND WANT TO LIMIT THEIR EXPOSURE BY LIMITING THE PROGRAM TO THE DRIVERS DOOR. THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE OR CONCERN PROMPTING THIS PROGRAM OR FORD WOULD NOT HAVE INITIATED THE PROGRAM AND IT WOULD APPLY TO ALL DOORS ON THE VEHICLE AS EVIDENCED BY MY PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DOOR. I DID CONTACT THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND WAS ADVISED THE PROGRAM WAS LIMITED TO THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THE LETTER. THIS DOOR AJAR WARNING HAS COME UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WHEN STATIONARY.

SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. WE WERE GOING 70 MILES/ HOUR ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT EXPLODED OUT OF NOWHERE. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER THREW OUR ARMS OVER OUR HEAD BECAUSE IT SOUNDED LIKE OUR CAR HAD BEEN SHOT AT. THE CAR SWERVED INTO OTHER LANES OF TRAFFIC. MOST OF THE GLASS STAYED BUT WE HAD LARGE CHUNKS FALL INTO THE CAR CABIN. THERE WAS ALSO LOTS OF FINE PIECES OF GLASS FALLING INTO THE CAR. WE HAD A 1 YEAR OLD IN HER CARSEAT THAT HAD GLASS FALLING ON HER HEAD. WE DIDN'T DARE DRIVE ANYMORE, TRYING TO AVOID THE GLASS CAVING IN, AND PULLED OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT.

DOOR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, UNLOCKED CAR, OPENED DOOR, ENTERED VEHICLE, TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR. DOOR WOULD JUST NOT LATCH CLOSED. MANUALLY MOVED DOOR LATCH MECHANISM BACK AND FORTH. ON OTHER DOORS, THE LATCH WOULD LOCK INTO PLACE, AND COULD BE 'UNLOCKED' BY OPENING USING DOOR HANDLE. ON AFFECTED DOOR, THE LATCH WOULD ONLY MOVE BACK AND FORTH FREELY. TOOK TO FORD DEALER TODAY. DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY LATCH ASSEMBLY. APPROXIMATELY $250 FOR THE PART, AND $250 FOR LABOR.

FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS PUBLISHED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB 14-0011) FOR ITS SERVICE PERSONNEL, BUT HAS FAILED TO TAKE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS IMPACTING A MULTITUDE OF THEIR VEHICLE MODELS (EDGE, EXPLORER, AND FLEX AS WELL AS LINCOLN MK-X & MK-T) FOR YEARS 2011-2014. UNOFFICIALLY, THIS AFFECTS YEAR MODELS 2009-2018, BASED ON INFORMATION ONLINE FORUMS SUCH AS FORDPROBLEMS.COM. ON JANUARY 2, 2018 THIS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED AWAY FROM HOME AND IT DEPLETED THE BATTERY WHICH IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS NEAR ZERO DEGREES AND I WAS STRANDED FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR IN SUB ZERO TEMPERATURES. I AM 60 YEARS OLD AND SUFFER FROM DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND CANCER OF THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM AND THIS BECAME A DANGEROUS, LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. SINCE JANUARY 2, 2018 MY CAR HAS REPEATEDLY RUN THE BATTERY DOWN WHEN SENSING THE DOOR OPEN AND SETTING THE ALARM SYSTEM ACTIVE, REPEATEDLY AND FOR HOURS WHEN I'M NOT AROUND. AFTER MONTHS OF THIS I DISCOVERED TODAY THAT MY HORN FAILED WHEN IN TRAFFIC AND HEAVY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS AND I WAS UNABLE TO ALERT A CAR PULLING INTO MY RIGHT OF WAY THAT I WAS THERE. THIS GETS MORE AND MORE DANGEROUS EVERY MONTH, FROM NEARLY FREEZING TO DEATH, TO NEARLY MANGLED ON A US HIGHWAY IN NORTHWEST INDIANA SOMETHING NEEDS ADDRESSING BY FORD AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONSTANT PROBLEM IN THE FORD EDGE VEHICLES. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE DEVELOPED MORE OFTEN OVER THE LAST YEAR BUT I DISCOVERED THE HORN PROBLEM TODAY IN A POSSIBLY LIFE THREATENING INCIDENT AT 50 MPH IN RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS.

THE SECOND ISSUE THAT WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND LOCKED THE INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON RESULTING IN BATTERIES BEING WORN DOWN AND DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS STRANDED. NOT A WONDERFUL THOUGHT IN FREEZING WINTER CONDITIONS. THE FINAL POINT I WOULD MAKE IS THAT THERE WERE 1349 COMPLAINTS, NOW 1350, FILED PRIOR TO MINE. AN OLD RULE OF THUMB HAS BEEN THAT FOR EVERYONE WHO WILL TAKE THE TIME TO WRITE A LETTER OF COMPLAINT THERE ARE 10,000 MORE WHO WILL NOT. THE MATH SAYS 13,500,000. OBVIOUSLY THERE WERE NOT THIS MANY FORD EDGES SOLD IN THE 3 MODEL YEARS THIS SAFETY ISSUE HAS PRESENTED ITSELF. IN FACT THEY SOLD A LITTLE UNDER .3% OF THAT NUMBER. THAT MAKES THE RATIO OF COMPLAINTS EXTREMELY HIGH AND MUCH SERIOUSNESS MUCH GREATER. THE DATE I NOTE AT THE BOTTOM IS THE APPROXIMATE DATE THE PROBLEM STARTED.

STARTING IN FEBRUARY 2017, THE 'DRIVER DOOR AJAR' WARNING INDICATOR WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 90,000MILES. NONE OF THE THREE PASSENGER DOORS OR THE TAILGATE HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. AT FIRST THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT. I TRIED TO LUBRICATE THE LATCH WITH SILICON SPRAY AND THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY FOR A WEEK, THEN COME BACK. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE UNTIL JUNE OF 2017, WHEN THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT GO AWAY AT ALL. SLAMMING THE DOOR SHUT REPEATEDLY DID NOT WORK, THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING STAYED ON. BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, IT'S HARD TO TELL IF THE DOOR IS REALLY CLOSED OR NOT. IF THE DOOR IS NOT LATCHED PROPERLY, IT WOULD BE A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN. IN ADDITION, THE DOORS NO LONGER LOCK, NEITHER AUTOMATICALLY NOR USING THE LOCK SWITCH WHICH ALSO PRESENTS A SAFETY CONCERN. ANOTHER RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM IS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT GO OUT WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND THE DOOR CLOSED WHICH HAS DRAINED THE BATTERY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY IN VIEW OF THE DOORS NOT LOCKING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE UNCERTAINTY AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED.

THERE IS WATER LEAKING INTO MY FORD EDGE LEAVING A PUDDLE ON MY DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR, COMPLETELY SATURATING THE CARPET. THE WATER IS LITERALLY POOLING ON THE FLOOR UNDER MY FEET. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR SITS IDLE, UNDRIVEN, WHEN THERE IS RAIN. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AN A/C LEAKAGE, CONDENSATION, ETC. THERE IS WATER LEAKING FROM THE OUTSIDE INTO MY VEHICLE AND HAS NOW RESULTED IN RUSTING OF MY FLOORBOARD AND MOLDING TO MY CARPET. THERE IS A STRONG MOLD ODOR AND IS INTOLOERABLE UNLESS THE WINDOWS ARE OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE A CHILD WITH ALLERGIES AND HE CAN NOT BE EXPOSED TO THIS. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER RAIN . I HAVE VACUUMED UP THE WATER, DRIED THE CARPETING BUT IT REOCCURRES OVER AND OVER. MY FIRST INCIDENT WAS JUST A MONTH OR SO AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED. THEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, START MY WAY DOWN THE ROAD ONLY FOR THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT TO COME ON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AS WELL. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT THOUGH, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON IMMEDIATELY. AGAIN, I'M NOT SURE IF IT'S SENSOR, OR IF THE DOOR LATCH IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF EVENTUALLY. BUT DRIVER DOOR ( THE ONE CAUSING ISSUES) WILL NOT RESPOND KEYFOB. WHEN I USE SET OF KEYS NUMBER 2 ( MY SET) IT WON'T RESPOND TO THEM TILL I LOCK CAR AND REMOTE START SITTING INSIDE THE AUTOMOBILE. EVERY TIME YOU STOP THE CAR WILL SOUND AN ALARM AND TELL YOU TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND CLOSE DOOR, EVERYTIME!! EVEN WHEN YOU PHYSICALLY LOCK DOORS THE CAR WILL UNLOCK THEM. WHEN CLOSING THE DRIVER DOOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON WITH THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, THEN COMES TO A STOP SAY, AT AN INTERSECTION, AN ALARM SOUNDS AGAIN AND REQUESTS THAT YOU SHIFT TO PARK. I HIT THE OK BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL, BUT THE PROCESS REPEATS. I HAVE SOMETIMES BEEN ABLE TO STOP THE ALARMS BY WIGGLING THE WIRING HARNESS AT THE DOOR HINGE, BUT THIS MAY BE COINCIDENTAL. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING, AND WHEN STILL. THE AUTO LOCK WILL ALSO NOT ENGAGE DURING THE ALARM, AND EVEN WHEN MANUALLY ACTIVATING IT WON'T ENGAGE. I NEVER KNOW IF THIS IS A TRUE ALARM OR NOT. I ASSUME ALWAYS IT IS FALSE. ON JULY 26, 2016, WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER & FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM WAS THE DOOR LATCH. IT COST $486.57 FOR REPLACEMENT (SEE INVOICE). WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION, I TALKED TO THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP & HE SAID THAT IT WAS 'POSSIBLE' THAT WE WOULD BE REIMBURSED BY FORD IF A RECALL WERE ISSUED. ANOTHER FORD WORKER IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID HE DOES NOT THINK THERE WILL BE A RECALL BECAUSE THERE HAVE NOT BEEN THAT MANY INCIDENTS. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS DOOR LATCH SENSOR ISSUE FOR THE DURATION OF MY OWNERSHIP ON MY FORD EDGE. I DON'T SEE HOW IT IS POSSIBLE THAT OUR VEHICLES MEET NHTSA STANDARD FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NO. 206, DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS. THE TESTING FOR THAT STANDARD WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE IN A LABORATORY, AND IT IS APPARENT THAT CONTAMINANTS OUT IN THE FIELD ARE MAKING THEIR WAY INTO THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY AND COMPROMISING THE SENSOR - IT IS NOT A STRETCH TO CONSIDER THE LATCH ITSELF MAY BE DETERIORATING AS WELL. THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF THE DOOR IS FULLY SHUT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHTTIME FROM THE UNPREDICTABLE SENSOR. I JUST REPLACED A BATTERY 10/3/16, FAILED FROM THE SENSOR DRAINING IT REPEATEDLY, BOUGHT THE LARGEST CAPACITY OEM REPLACEMENT I COULD GET FOR IT FROM FROM THE DEALER. WHILE PARKED, EVEN FOR HOURS AND DAYS ON END UNTOUCHED, THE CAR WILL PERIODICALLY SENSE THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED (THOUGH IT HASN'T BEEN), AND THE PARKING/CONVENIENCE LIGHTING WILL COME ON AND GO BACK OFF AGAIN.

MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHEN I SHUT IT, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON ALONG WITH THE DOME LIGHTS. IT ONLY TOOK A FEW TIMES RE SHUTTING THE DOOR TO MAKE THIS GO AWAY. HOWEVER, JUST RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN STAYING ON LONGER AND HARDER TO GET TO GO OFF. IT HAS ALSO BEEN COMING ON WHEN DRIVING AND I HAVE TO PULLOVER TO TRY TO GET THIS TO TURN OFF. I CANNOT LOCK THE DOORS WHEN THIS HAPPENS CAUSING A VERY UNSAFE TRAVEL ALONG WITH THE LIGHTS STAYING ON. IF I HAD KIDS IN MY VEHICLE I WOULD FEEL THEY COULD OPEN THE DOORS DUE TO THIS FAILURE AND FALL OUT. WHEN DRIVING AND THIS HAPPENS THE LIGHT COMES ON AND CAUSES A GLARE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT! EVEN AFTER FORD DOES THEIR "CLEANING" TO THE DOOR IT STILL HAPPENS AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS. THE DOOR LATCH AND COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY TO HAVE THIS FIXED.

AGAIN THIS MONTH, JULY 2016, IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. THE "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGES AND NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON ALL HAPPENING AGAIN. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, EVEN AFTER THEY REPLACE THE SWITCH, THIS DOESN'T COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT WILL START TO OCCUR AGAIN AFTER A FEW MONTHS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. MORE IMPORTANTLY THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH THE "DOOR IS AJAR" SIGNAL ON. THIS REALLY CONCERNS ME BECAUSE MY WIFE (WHOSE CAR IT IS) CAN BE SUBJECT TO A POTENTIAL CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. ADDITIONALLY IT POSES A THREAT TO MY GRANDCHILDREN BECAUSE WE CANNOT ENGAGE THE CHILD LOCK SAFETY FEATURE. FORD TOLD ME IF WOULD COST $400 JUST IN LABOR AND NOT INCLUDING PART TO REPAIR. TO KEEP MY BATTERY FROM DRAINING I HAVE HAD TO REMOVE THE OVERHEAD LIGHTS. ANOTHER PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM A MAJOR MANUFACTURER. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. DURING ACCELERATION A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR ENTERS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE FORD SERVICE AT THE DEALER STATED THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A BULLETIN STATING THAT THE BODY SEAMS IN BACK NEAR THE REAR BUMPER NEED TO BE RESEALED, VENTS REPLACED AND A FUSER USED TO SEAL THE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE - ALLOWING DANGEROUS EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. FORD REFUSES TO CORRECT THIS AT THEIR EXPENSE ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW THAT CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE.

THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOORS IS TO USE THE KEY FOB. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, NOW THE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.

THIS CAUSES A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE AS LONG AS THE DOOR AJAR ERROR APPEARS ON THE MESSAGE WINDOW, THE COMPUTER WILL NOT ALLOW ANY OF THE DOORS TO LOCK. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE OCCUPANT(S) COULD BE EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR A ROLLOVER. ADDITIONALLY, THE DEALER WANTS BETWEEN $300 AND $500 TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART (COST $90) DUE TO HAVING TO DISMANTLE THE DOOR TO ACCESS THE PART. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THERE ARE DO IT YOURSELFERS REPAIRING OR DISABLING THE SENSOR, WHICH COULD CREATE OTHER DANGERS IF THE DOOR IS NOT PROPERLY RECONSTRUCTED. FURTHER INTERNET RESEARCH REVEALED THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE ABOUT 1996 AND IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ACROSS SEVERAL MODELS AND PLATFORMS (CARS, TRUCKS AND SUV'S). FAST FORWARD TO THIS LAST MONTH. THE DOOR WAS AGAIN BECOMING AN ISSUE. MEANING, THE PROBLEM EXISTED EVERY TIME I CLOSED MY DOOR BUT IF I KEPT CLOSING AND OPENING THE DOOR, EVENTUALLY AFTER 5-6 TIMES, THE CAR WOULD REGISTER THE DOOR AS CLOSED. I MADE AN APT TELLING THE SERVICE GUY THAT I WAS HAVING THE PROBLEM AGAIN AND WE MADE AN APT. I DROPPED OFF MY CAR YESTERDAY AT 3:30. WE GOT A CALL AT 4 PM STATING OUR CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AS WE ARE OVER OUR 36,000 MILEAGE LIMIT (WE ARE AT 39,000). I REMINDED HIM IT WAS COVERED BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS REPORTED LAST YEAR WHEN THEY FIXED IT. HE (SAM) TOLD ME THAT HE HAD GONE THROUGH MY INVOICES AND THERE IS NO RECORD OF THIS WORK BEING DONE. I THEN SAID MAYBE THEY FIXED IT AND FORGOT TO WRITE IT DOWN. I WAS TOLD NO THAT COULD NOT HAPPEN. I SAID THEY HAD TO TAKE THE DOOR PANEL OFF FOR THE OTHER ISSUE AND I WAS TOLD THAT WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE SENSOR. I WENT TO THE PARTS COUNTER AND WAS TOLD THAT INDEED, THE SENSOR IS ON THE EDGE OF THE DOOR AND YOU WOULD NEED TO REMOVE THE PANEL TO GET TO IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT. I THEN INFORMED THEM OF HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE SO IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT A WEAR AND TEAR OR PERSONAL MISTREATMENT ISSUE AND THAT FORD SHOULD NOT BE SHIRKING THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AND I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS BEING BROUGHT AROUND. AT LEAST THREE OTHER INCIDENTS WHERE THE CAR SURGED FORWARD BUT DID NOT RESULT IN A CRASH. TOOK THE CAR TO FUTURE FORD AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING WAS DONE. LATEST EVENT ON 5/22/2015 WHERE THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. IN BOTH INCIDENTS, WE WERE LUCKY IN THAT NOBODY WAS INJURED. THE SURGES LAST ABOUT 4 TO 5 SECONDS.THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NOTHING IS DONE TO STOP THE SURGE EXCEPT PUSH HARDER ON THE BREAK PEDAL. FUTURE FORD SERVICE MANAGER STATED NOTHING CAN BE DONE WITHOUT POSITIVE PROOF IN THE ERROR CODES.

THE SYSTEM IS SHOWING A "DOOR AJAR" ALARM, DRIVERS FRONT DOOR. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BECAUSE I DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR ENOUGH SO I JUST OPENED IT, AND PULLED A LITTLE HARDER AND THE ALARM WENT AWAY. I DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND ONE MORNING WHEN IT WAS FROSTY I CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE "DOOR AJAR" ALARM POSTED AGAIN. I OPENED THE DOOR AND CLOSED IT SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ALARM WENT AWAY. FROM THIS I THOUGHT THE STRIKER NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED, I THOUGHT, "HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE DOOR SWITCH COULD HAVE FAILED ON A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 1.5 YEARS OLD?". I DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW MORE DAYS AND AT THIS POINT THE ALARM WAS POSTING ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME. AROUND THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER THE ALARM BEGAN POSTING ALL THE TIME. NOW, IT POSTS NEARLY 95% OF THE TIME WITH ONLY A FEW TIMES WHERE IT DOES NOT. THE ISSUE WITH THIS ALARM IS TWOFOLD: 1) IT KEEPS THE DOME LIGHTS ON BECAUSE THE SYSTEM DOES NOT SEE THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCK IT, THUS THE TIMER MUST TIME OUT (AROUND 20 MINUTES) AND THE LIGHTS TURN OFF. 2) THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM BEING LOCKED WHILE DRIVING. ON 10/21/13 AT 6:30 AM I WAS DRIVING ON MY DAILY ROUTE TO WORK ALONG INTERSTATE ROUTE 95-SOUTH. AS I WAS DRIVING OVER THE HIGH LEVEL BRIDGE IN PORTSMOUTH, NH, I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT STRUCK ANY OBJECT, NOR HAD ANY OBJECT STRUCK THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED UP AND SAW THAT THE ENTIRE MOONROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED IN PLACE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE NEXT EXIT. WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED ITS EXTERIOR, I CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD HIT MY CAR. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY OBJECT HAVING STRUCK THE MOON ROOF. THERE WERE NO LOCALIZED IMPACT CRACKS OR PUNCTURE HOLES ANYWHERE, YET, A STRIP ALONG ALL FOUR EDGES OF THE MOON ROOF HAD SEPARATED, WHILE THE CENTER AREA STAYED INTACT, BUT WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE PORTSMOUTH, NH FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE'S MOON ROOF AND AGREED THAT THE DAMAGE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE CAUSED BY SOMETHING HITTING MY CAR. FMC HAS DOCUMENTATION OF HIS STATEMENT. SM TOOK PICTURES OF THE MOON ROOF AND SUBMITTED A TO FMC. FMC IMMEDIATELY DENIED THE REQUEST FOR REPLACEMENT. IN THE MEANTIME, THE SERVICE MANAGER ESCALATED THE REQUEST BECAUSE HE FELT VERY STRONGLY THAT THIS WAS NOT A RESULT OF SOMETHING HITTING MY MOON ROOF. THE REQUEST WAS ONCE AGAIN DENIED. MR.XXX HAS CONTINUED TO MAKE CALLS ON MY BEHALF THIS WEEK TO FMC, ASKING HOW ANYONE CAN MAKE A DETERMINATION WITHOUT SENDING SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE MOON ROOF FIRSTHAND. HE WAS REPEATEDLY TOLD FOR THREE DAYS THAT FORD WAS WORKING ON COMING UP WITH A RESOLUTION. ON 10/23/13 FORD CALLED AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE REPLACEMENT COST OF THE MOON ROOF. DUE TO THE LACK OF SERVICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY, I HAD TO SUBMIT A CLAIM THROUGH MY PERSONAL CAR INSURANCE.
