The check engine light gave codes P0302 & P0316 and I had noticed the coolant level being low. After doing some research, I see that Ford issued a TSB 22-2229 as the fix for the problem which includes a new engine block because of a poor design for the coolant flow causing the block to crack. This should fall on to Ford to repair rather than people that expect and need their vehicle to last.

I bought a brand new Ford Edge in 2017 with a warranty of 5 years and 60,000 miles. Several weeks ago, my car turned the engine light on and began having difficulty staying on during idle time and at stop signs. Immediately, I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the problem of a leakage of coolant into the cylinders. They quoted me for an amount greater than the trade in value of the vehicle. From my online research, other customers are having the same leakage recurrent issue for Ford Edges between 2016-2023. The dealer could not tell me the reason behind this leakage causing the engine to overheat. This coolant leakage happening to a lot of their vehicles is putting individuals in danger of fire, explosion, or the vehicle stopping at any movement even while driving. There is absolutely no indication that this leakage was caused by poor maintenance or excessive wear and tear, and this is a recurring issue on their cars. I am afraid to drive the vehicle and cause an explosion or a fire on the road. However, Ford dealerships across the country are sending individuals on their way with defective engines without addressing the reason why new cars are having coolant leakage and having to replace the entire engine. It is Ford's responsibility to acknowledge defective parts and stop putting customers in danger. The component Ford is saying needs repair is the long block and it can be available for inspection if needed.

Check engine light keeps turning on and off, took it to Ford to get diagnosed. There’s a coolant leak into the cylinder 2 causing a misfire and a cracked gasket. Whole engine needs to be replaced to fix this issue, over $6500 worth of repairs that I cannot afford and Ford won’t help with costs. My car is still currently drivable but isn’t safe to drive long distance as it could break at any time while I have myself and 16 month old child in the vehicle. I have a website with other Ford Edge owners having the same engine issue and needing to replace them. This is the link; [XXX] Please hold Ford accountable to announce a recall on the engine. Driving my car this year in April 2023. My car overheated while driving. I pulled over and checked the coolant it was bone dry, thankfully I had more in my car which I refilled. I brought my car to a friend that was a mechanic and he told me my coolant was leaking into the cylinder. I brought it to the Ford dealership to confirm his findings. I was told the same thing along with I need a nrw engine. I bought the car in Feb 2021 paid 17,000. It had 75000 miles on it. I haven't been able to get it repaired I was quoated around $5600. Ford has thousands of unhappy consumers in the same situation with needing a new engine. Ford will not do a recall and they kept selling cars with faulty engines. 2015-2018 Ford Edge and other models. This is not fair to thier customers!!!!!

2017 Ford Edge Eco Boost - 75,300 miles (low) (purchased new) My vehicle had a rough start one morning, the next day the check engine light came on. I took it to the Ford Dealership and they said there was COOLANT INTRUSION in CYLINDERS #2 and #4 which had caused catastrophic engine failure. Full replacement is needed. This is a known issue, an engine defect the mechanic said. There have been HUNDREDS of complaints for this same issue. This isn't right. I only have 75,000 on this car, it should last 200,000 miles. I paid full price for the car but only get to use 37.5 % of the estimated usage. Doesn't seem like a fair trade.

The engine in the 2017 Ford Explorer has a history of seizing, catching fire and failure without notice. This could cause serious injury or death. This is a very well known problem at Ford Motor Company and they are doing nothing to fix it. In fact they are hiding from it. The internet is loaded with information on this. The coolant leaks into the engine and destroys it. This has happened so much there are no more engines available in the country. It's not a matter if, it's a matter of when it will happen. 40,000 miles? 60,000 miles? My car has 77,000 miles. Ford is asking customers replace the engine at $7700 to the customer. There should be a recall and replacement process from Ford Motor Company fully funded by Ford. They engineered a bad engine. Sold it to the public. And they are ignoring the safety of the public for money. I have dealt with Morrie's Minnetonka Ford in Minnetonka Minnesota and they say Ford will not recall the engine despite the danger to the public. As usual it's all about the money. Happy to assist you with any details. I have a ecoboost engine on my Ford Edge that has known issues from Ford. Currently after driving past the 60k mile warranty cylinder 4 on my engine started leaking coolant into the engine block. I took my car to Ford to get it checked because I started to get notifications that the engine was overheating while in the car with my toddler. The mechanic informed me later that there was a TSB 19-2346 on my car and many others like it. I was told Ford would no help in anyway with replacing the engine. There was supposed to be a sensor inside my car to let me know about the coolant levelling dropping the way they have been but there wasn’t even that. The car only let me know of the issue at the end when it started overheating to dangerous levels

Engine defect - Coolant leaking into cyclinder- requires whole new engine

Jun 1, 2021

Service light came on then overheat light - took to dealer to check. Told by service guy that the tech has performed a long pressure test on the coolant system to find a leak. There are no external leaks so we checked and found coolant intrusion inside the cylinder head. The fix for that is a complete engine assembly.
