I am reporting a repeated transmission failure involving my 2017 Ford Edge (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle has had multiple transmission replacements performed by an authorized Ford dealership (Barbara Dyson Ford). Each replacement has been faulty, and the most recent transmission is now failing again. The vehicle currently has worsening transmission issues, making it unreliable and unsafe to drive. The problem continues despite repeated repairs, indicating a pattern failure rather than a one-time defect. I rely on this vehicle to transport my child to ongoing medical and specialist appointments. Due to the repeated transmission failures, the vehicle cannot be depended on for essential transportation. I have contacted Ford Consumer Affairs but have received no resolution or follow-up. I am reporting this issue due to safety concerns and repeated unsuccessful repair attempts. 2017 Ford Edge Titanium, 2.0L with 6F35 Transmission, ~70kmiles, owner has all service records. After routine service at Ford dealership ([XXX]), oil and filter change, inspection and coolant replacement; Owner noticed upon driving home that the car would try to stall when placed into gear, then shudder and buck until the throttle was nudged and the car would start moving (forward or backward). Owner promptly returned car to the dealer. A service advisor replicated the problem and took the car into the shop where it remained for 3 days for testing and diagnostics. The mechanics diagnosis (uploaded in attachment) is that the torque converter is in a constant locked state and that something was "bad" in the transmission and likely a torque converter failure. The shop estimated $9,138.33 to repair. Owner declined the excessive repair cost and limped the car home and into owner's garage where it currently sits awaiting some resolution. As this transmission has been the subject of prior recalls, owner believes the recall should be expanded to include this vehicle. Also noted, this transmission has been and may still be the subject of active litigation. Note: an extended warranty the owner had purchased with the car when new, expired just 4 months prior. Coincidence. The Ford 6F35 transmission is defective and should be promptly recalled in all vehicles! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Transmission failed without notice. Required full replacement.
Slow acceleration when the AWD system is needed, due to failure of rear differential. No replacement parts are available, suggesting high demand due to high failure rate, possibly due to poor design.
I am trying to file a complaint about no parts for recalls. I have had three recalls on this vehicle and none of them has been rectified due to no parts available. I'm trying to find out why we cannot get parts to fix the transmission bell housing or the brake hoses on these recall notices? I also have a recall for the rear camera. I'm not sure if these recalls are just for my information, or if they ever intend to get parts? The transmission recall is from several years back, and now the recall quit showing up. I guess it magically took care of itself. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, the transmission independently shifted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact was informed that there was no failure with the transmission because there was no sound coming from the transmission. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact, who was an ex-certified mechanic, stated there was an issue with the vehicle. In addition, the contact referenced an unknown recall which had a similar failure description; however, the VIN was not associated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The engine was shaking violently whenever the brakes were engaged. The vehicle required a full torque converter replacement.
2017 eco boost engine class action lawsuit ,coolant got into the engine
The rear differential is now needing to be replaced for the second time. My understanding is that this is a common issue with the Ford Edge.
The 2.0 ecoboost engine 2017 Ford Edge Titanium coolant leaking into many places. White smoke coming from exhaust flooding into the streets I have been told the Long block issue as well. The vehicle was at an independent service center where it sat for over three weeks while they worked hard trying to find the issues. Finally they advised me to get a second opinion through Ford which I did for over $300 for the same inspection. They have given me an outrageous estimate of over $16,000 to repair the issues. This is a common issue with this particular engine. I have read numerous complaints since purchasing it . Ford needs to be held accountable for all these defective engines they have yet to recall these dangerous vehicles. My vehicle is currently sitting in storage because it is inoperable. I’m still making loan payments on this defective vehicle. I have reached out to Ford many times for assistance and they have turned me away. I will soon have to file a Lawsuit against Ford if they do not come forward and resolve this issue. I will never ever purchase another Ford.
Engine is overheating due to coolant intrusion due to manfracturing error.
Started car and heard rattling noise. Took the car to shop and was told it was the flex plate. Called Ford to see if I could get it repaired under CSP 22n12 I was told I COULD NOT because I previously took my car to the Ford dealer because it was driving rough and making a sound so I took it in to see if it was the flex plate (another Ford dealer diagnosed it with the coolant intrusion issue) and because they said they inspected it and despite making no repairs the dealership closed the CSP 22N12 on my car. I called Ford Customer Service and was told I could file a complaint but there is nothing that they can do. First I had to deal with coolant intrusion and now the flex plate! I think it’s horrible that the consumer has to keep being financially responsible for the flaws of this suv. Another defective part that I’m left paying for and now my car has to just be parked until I can afford it.
Check engine light has been on and white smoke coming from exhaust and engine Been in for recall repairs several times. Steering wheel feels unstable when driving Suspension is unreliable. This is a very dangerous vehicle to be driving and needs to be recalled for these Known issues.
I took my Ford Edge in as the engine was making a loud rattling noise, i was told i had a cracked Flex plate and Ford will only cover half. I was NEVER notified of this recall and now i am in charge of paying 50% of a SAFETY issue because of Ford's mistake. I am now not able to drive my car advised by the mechanic because of this safety issue. This is a program by Ford and should be a recall. I should not be stuck paying 50% for something Ford messed up and am now not able to drive my vehicle as it was deemed unsafe. I also should not be paying 50% of something because Ford never legally notified me.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, The contact stated that there was an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline for the VIN to be added in an unknown recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

I bought my 2017 ford edge titanium last year back in dec of 2023. Well she had about 124k miles on it when i got it. Well theres almost 170 k miles on it now and i been very thorough with my maintenance. Transmission fluid, spark plus etc. Well im workin in tulsa one night and drop someone off and begin to hear this rattle noise. Well im an 1hr 30 mins away from hime so im prayin that i get back hime safely. Well i make it back. I take it to my mechanic and he said it sounds like your flex plate is bad or cracked. Well my understanding is other 2017 ford edges with my 2.0 engine and 6f35 transmission has a torque converter stud bolts weld problem recall. Apparently thats what could be causing my flex plate to crack all of a sudden. Just the only thing listed under my vin is a csp. To me if the torque conver weld stud bolts werent welded or tightened right at the factory i feel like that should be on fords end to cover the repair vs regular wear and tear. Like my way of explaining is say you borrow something from someone and you break it. They shouldnt be liable if its your mistake? True? I dont want no lawsuit. I just want ford to fix the issue with my car that their defect caused. Many blessings and Merry Christmas and thanks a million.
Brought car with 54k miles. Went to dealer 1 month before warranty ended. I was told there were specific problems which I fixed. I later went back a few months later and was told it’s the battery. The Check engine light came back on a month later. I was told Coolant is leaking into the engine requiring you to need new engine. It’s dangerous because car won’t go over 20 mph. Even if you push gas you can’t go faster. Smoke coming out of exhaust. Smell is toxic. There is no explanation as to why this happens.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon depression of the brake pedal, an abnormal banging noise emitted from the vehicle without warning. The vehicle then began to hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as fellow motorists assisted the contact by pushing the vehicle up an incline and into a parking lot. While in the parking lot, the contact restarted the vehicle and placed into reverse(R); however, the vehicle moved forward while in reverse(R). The contact restarted the vehicle for a second time and vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer who also offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

1. The flex plate cracked, damaging the torque converter and its bolts as well as the transmission pump. Basically, the transmission failed. The car is available for inspection at the dealership repair department. 2. The car suddenly stopped while turning onto a busy road putting other drivers and my passenger in danger. 3. Problem confirmed by dealer repair department. 4. The Ford service department located the problem when they diagnosed it. 5. No warning light. Check engine came on when car stopped while entering a busy intersection but turned off when I restarted the car. No flashing check engine or other warning lights came on when the vehicle started showing some hesitation when switching gear and then began making increasing rattling and revving noises shortly thereafter.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the inside of the vehicle and the transmission was unintentionally downshifting. No warning light was illuminated. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V390000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the Flex Wheel was cracked and needed to be replaced along with several other unknown parts. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

2.0 eco boost motor. Intrusion of coolant into the 1st and 2nd cylinder. Superior warranty and Ford company refuse to take any responsibility of this issue. It is a known issue and it has cost me $6624 and it is hard enough to have to buy 2nd hand car but 3 days after this issue arises. As is vehicle. Ford should be liable. 111k miles at time of repair. Started as fuel issues per Starks where bought car to spark plugs and coils to motor and fly wheel.
My 2017 Ford engine had a catastophic failure and required replacement. Sequence of events: January 8 2024, Check Engine light came on and at 99350, the spark plugs were replaced to correct . March 12 2024, Check Engine light came on again at 100900, the coils were replaced to correct. March 19 2024, Catastropic Engine light came while driving on interstate 75, the engine block cracked and was replaced. While replacing the engine it was noted that the Power Take Off Asy-s was also defective and needed replacement. As things progressed it was learned that Ford knew of an engine design failure but did not issue a recall. Fortunately the interste highway engine failure did not cause an accidentbut easily could have. I am currently asking Ford for reimbursement of the enging and Asy-s.
A check engine light appeared after a couple rough idle starts. I took it in to have the code read and it was a Cylinder 2 misfire. It was explained that it was not a big deal, just needed to replace spark plugs. I replaced spark plugs (car has 65K miles), picked the car back and the problem still existed. Took it back in with the same check engine code of Cylinder 2 misfire, this time the replaced a ignition coil. Picked it up and still had the same issue, and I took it back and they replaced the fuel injector. After the fuel injector was replaced, 2 days later I was driving it home still having the same exact issues of when I originally took it in rough, misfiring start the car over heated. I shut the car off and seen that I had zero coolant. I put coolant in the reservoir ( completely shocked because I had just had an oil change, and they didn't notice the coolant was low). The next morning I called the place I had been taking it and told them what happened and they were stumped. So, I called Ford told them the issues I was having, they said, they are 100% sure they know the issue( because it is a known issue with this year and make of vehicle) of what is wrong with it but to bring it in and they will run a diagnostic on it. With in an hour they said, that I had a coolant leak that was leaking behind the spark plugs and going out the exhaust causing the misfire and white smoke. To replace the motor will be $7K. I bought this car brand new, had the extended warranty and maintenance plan on the vehicle. It was kept in pristine condition and never missed a oil change or any recall. Then 6 months after the warranty is out, this issue began. Ford knows that this is an issue and they have a technical warning on it for the Ford edge and other vehicles. It is a unsafe to drive and not fair that I need to pair 7k for a new engine on a issue they know they have with this engine.
No warrants of issues when it happened was driving back home when my car started smoking then it drove for a little bit and then it would shoot up to gear 4 then back down and then it stopped.
My edge has been experiencing flex plate issues since 106,000 miles. It’s considered a CSP through ford there is a recall but my specific car “isn’t affected” this needs to be recalled so I can get it fixed. If this cracks all the way it could cause a fatal accident and there would be law suits. This is a huge safety concern, and needs to be pushed further as my car has the same type of flex plate as the other edges that have been recalled.

Transmission started slipping in and out of gears and jerking in the middle of traffic, had happened multiple times. Have done research and seems it is happening to a lot of people.
My 2017 Ford Edge has a 2.0 ecoboost engine with a known defect problem. Antifreeze is leaking into the cylinder which could cause it to overheat and a potential fire. It has been checked at two separate FORD dealerships, and they both confirm the same issue. The yellow multi dash lamp has gone on and stayed on since the incident occurred. The first incident was on 4-3-2024.

We have a 2017 ford edge. Ford has a recall of flexplate on June 23. I called the dealership that sold us the car. I was told not to do anything unless it acts up. At 127,000 miles, it happened. It was rattling and would die at idle speed. Ford won't cover it because car has miles over. My concern is that I called the dealership and they told us not to do anything. We would on a slanted off ramp when it happened. It would die when we put it in park so we had to shift it to neutral when sitting. Could have been very dangerous because there was a lot of cars behind us.
The engine is malfunctioning. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The engine could fail, loss of power, if while passing a vehicle on 2 lane highway a major loss of coolant, overheating due to loss of coolant. Result could be major damage to engine and or fire or both resulting in an accident . The problem has been confirmed by both a Ford dealership and an independent service center. The vehicle engine has been inspected by a Ford dealership in Jacksonville Fl. The engine warning light has come on several times since late 2022 or early 2023. This is when it 1st appeared. 2 dates are significant here: 3/28/23 an engine diagnostic completed due to engine light on, a slight mist detected into cylinder one. 2/19/24 another engine diagnostic completed at Autonation Ford in Jacksonville FL. Confirmed to me by telephone conversation that coolant is leaking into a cylinder. The remedy: a new, remanufactured or used engine has to be installed. All this information is on the 2.0 L Ecoboost engine made by Ford Motor Co. This problem has been known by Ford since maybe as early 2013, not only on this model from 2015-2018 but on the Ford Fusion 2017-2019, Ford Escape, built on or before 16 May-2019. I have a 2017 Ford Edge with a 2.0 Ecoboost motor that was recently diagnosed (by Ford) as needing a new engine due to Coolant Intrusion into cylinder #4. The car has only 57,000 miles and is said to have a known manufacturing defect that causes this. Fortunately I reported this issue to the dealer before it got too severe; however I've been told that the car can catch on fire due to overheating or stop altogether on the freeway because of this issue. From what I've also read Ford has numerous cars equipped with this engine and have thousands of complaints regarding it, though they refuse to do anything to remedy the situation. I therefore would like to report the situation to the NHTSA out of an abundance of caution for myself, family, and other motorists that could be impacted by this.
Transmission, coolant infusion to engine Emissions, long block torqu converter failed even though i had multiple appointments to have this and the other recalls done they always canceled the appointments due to lack of parts or they were backed up in the service department. I had the majority of all (the works) oil changes done at the dealership unless they were weeks out, I complained of engine running hot and knocking sounds back in 2021, needed to be jumped every few months 2022 I was always told this was normal for a edge ecoboost with the cold weather package, they did check the battery which was fine, when the engine light came on I took it right in only to be told to make a appointment, soon after I started to lose power going up sm hills, I was told I needed new tires after this oil change and I even ended up with a nail in my time from their repair shop, 3 weeks later no engine light denied my appointment, tried to show codes from local repair shop i waa told its normal make a appointment, i questioned if its safe to drive i was told yes absolutely engine light back on the next day took it back in again told to make a appointment 2.5 weeks later no engine light on but I showed them the codes I was pulling for miss firing that I pulled multiple times at different intervals when I felt something was wrong but they didn't have a appointment to check themselves i was then told my computer reader was not accepted due to inaccurate readings made yet another attempt for a appointment, the next day I get in my car and start driving and I get a warning the car was reducing power due to over heating.it took 2 different tow trucks to get it to the dealership i have been complaining about these issues for well over 2 years only to be told I don't know what I am talking about or that it was perfectly normal if its so "normal" then why do they have a customer satisfaction program 22n12 that list my car yet denied me any assistance besides paying for the recall issues
Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX] . - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership to take the vehicle in) - There were no warning indications of any potential problem prior to my experience yesterday Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and instructions on how I should proceed. Car started misfiring due to coolant intrusion in cylinder 2. Had to immediately pull over to side of highway during rush hour traffic. Car is just outside manufacturer power train warranty. This is a known issue by Ford, the dealer community, service contract providers and independent mechanics. We purchased this car used that was serviced at dealers to now find out that this engine has known issues and are subject to a $12k long block replacement. I recently bought a 2017 Ford Edge back May 2022, my flex plate broke at 121,000 miles and the manufacturer will not cover it after 120,000 at all. I see this is an issue with many of these Ford edges. They are saying it’s a “customer satisfaction program” not a recall. I don’t understand why not, when it is in fact, a safety issue and the flex plate was a recall before back in 2018 for this same model vehicle. This caused my whole transmission to go due to this issue within an hour of hearing rattling then metal grinding and now it’s in a shop not drivable, I thankfully got home and put my car in park in my driveway and then my car wouldn’t move.
Vehicle has a knocking noise and struggles to start up and when it does it shakes. When driving the vehicle it can lose power to the wheels. In one instance I was driving on the highway around 75 mph when it suddenly lost power and could not go about 35 mph. Now the vehicle will not start at all.
So the car has a code p0302 coolant is leaking in cylinder #2 which is causing the car to run rough and overheat because of coolant loss and from what I understand can eventually cause a engine fire I’ve taken it to a shop to find this out but it hasn’t been inspected by the manufacturer police or insurance representatives the check engine light has been intermittently coming on and going back off until one day it just stayed on
My 2007 Ford Edge / 2.0 Ecoboost engine model (with only 69,000+ miles) had a distinct unsettling shake upon starting, and would occur occasionally during regular driving - causing Check Engine light to appear. Ford dealership inspected and verified that "coolant leaked into the 3rd cylinder - causing a crack in the engine - and only remedy is a total engine replacement." Obviously now an unsafe vehicle to drive. Upon my research / lengthy investigation, I found hundreds of similar failures with this model (to include 2015-2018 Ford Edges with 2.0 Ecoboost engine). Models with this engine version will eventually fail - usually around the 70,000 mile average landmark (which is ironically slightly out of from Ford's 60,000 warranty coverage - rendering this "not covered" by Ford) - and Ford has apparently known this for years. Ford's choices / options offered to me (and upon reading, hundreds of others) center on my being responsible for paying for the replacement - making me responsible for the cost (quoted price from the dealer was around $8200.00) on a vehicle with only 69,000+ miles on it - with a flawed engine design that Ford has been aware of. Was told (in similar if not exact terms) that they aren't responsible for the replacement cost because "There is no Recall on this", and "you are out of warranty" (but by less than 10,000 miles). Or another option is "you can trade it in" (for substantially below what it used to worth). In addition to my being responsible for the cost, the Edge is now worth less than what it was, as if I resell it, I'll need to disclose the problem - and engine replacement. In summary, this is not only unacceptable on the surface, but morally reprehensible. A recall on this (and other similar models), making Ford responsible to costs regarding this well known engine flaw is the right course of action not on for myself, but for the (at least) hundreds with the same problem - and thousands that will eventually have the problem. Thank you.
Engine and combustion chambers cylinder 2 and 3, yes it's available for inspection Sudden overheat and engine failure on road can lead to a serious accidents, also with coolant being leaked in to the combustion chamber could lead to explosions or implosions with the pressure conditions, also there was lot of white, blue smoke outside which was unbreathable Yes, coolant leakage to the combustion chamber is observed by a independent service center No, not at the moment, however this was observed in many 2015-2018 Ford Edge models according to the manufacturer and also said by the independent service center They appeared with the failure but not prior to the failure
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that the vehicle started after pressing the Push to Start button several times and depressing the accelerator pedal simultaneously. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal rattling sound while driving. The contact stated that the rattling sound became louder when the vehicle was idling. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the failure could be related to Customer Satisfaction Campaign: 22N12; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that 50% of the cost for the repair would be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Vehicle engine runs extremely rough and shakes the vehicle after starting the engine. White exhaust smoke is also observed and coolant levels are steadily dropping over time. A pungent unpleasant odor is present near the exhaust as well. Vehicle has been experiencing this issue since June 2022 and has progressively gotten worse. The check engine light was illuminated so a OBD-II code reader was utilized on July 2, 2022. The diagnostic codes P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0316, P1026, and P1285 were found. I have reason to believe that it is related to the issues related to the technical service bulletin (TSB) 22-2229. I am concerned about safety regarding this issue. My immediate concern falls on the poisonous gases produced when the engine is burning coolant putting the driver and others near the vehicle at risk. In addition, the vehicle is unreliable and the issue may cause other parts of the engine to fail. I believe this is a Ford design flaw and they should be held responsible. A certified Ford dealership in Colorado will be running diagnostic tests after it has been dropped off for an appointment scheduled on 7/10/2023 at 8:45am MST.
bought a 2017 ford edge 3 months later (2.0 engine) my car starts to overheat, white smoke. I Have it taken in to be looked at to get a bill for 8500 if i want it fixed. The car was also not safteyed. Ford has known issues with this just trying to bring awarness so many people having to go without a car for trusting ford and they are not fixing this issue with there 2.0 eco engines
Vehicle had coolant intrusion issue. Vehicle is out of factory warranty and is not covered under extended warranty. Said vehicle was purchased used but within 5 months the head gasket failed (a known Issue). now purchaser is being quoted a $7200 repair bill on a known defective product.
Under acceleration the vehicle will sometimes enter into limp mode. Vehicle will violently brake and come to a halt and the driver can only accelerate up to +/-5MPH to be able to pull off to the side of the road. The deceleration when this happens is sudden and violent. During this event the steering wheel is difficult to turn. ALL dash warning and fault lights flash during the malfunction. You have to pull over, shut the vehicle off, and then restart. This has happened with our two kids in the vehicle while merging onto a freeway. I have brought it to Ford 4 times. The first time they said a harness was loose and they fixed it. Other times they blamed my use of a narrower diameter winter tire, but it happens with the stock wheels as well. The malfunction continues to happen. They have not been able to duplicate the issue, so they asked me to drive around with a OBD2 scanner attached. When the malfunction happens, no error codes are reported. The Ford technician said that if it were their vehicle, they would not drive it with their children in the car. Ford has had the vehicle for almost a month now and have requested we pick it up because they cannot duplicate the malfunction and have suggested that I drive until it happens again, which is pointless as the malfunction does not trigger an error code. My wife refuses to drive the car, especially with our children in it. I have talked to Ford corporate, and they said they would escalate, but now they are not returning my emails or answering their phones. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. It may be helpful to know that when I first started bringing the vehicle in for this malfunction, it was still 100% under warranty. Thank you.
Vehicle had the transmission flywheel (flexplate) crack and fail on 07/24/2020 which resulted in having the flywheel replaced at 86,191 miles for the cost of $1,588.73. This resulted in a dangerous situation as it happened at night, on the highway in the mountains of GA. Vehicle again had the flywheel (flexplate) crack on 05/08/2023 at 128,515 miles and is being quoted $2,804.67 for replacement and repair. On August 26, 2022 a Customer Satisfaction Program 22N12 was issued by Ford for this problem. I never received a copy of this letter. Ford admits this is a problem, and my vehicle was included in this program and confirmed by VIN. The program covers 100% repairs up to 100,000 miles and 50% between 100,000-120,000 miles. My vehicle as over the 120,000 miles and I was told there would be no coverage for the repairs. My complaint is the fact I have paid for the first repairs, and had to pay for a hotel, meals and costs due to being stranded in GA as I was on a trip when it happened and the repairs took 4 days. The vehicle again has the same problem, and this time the quote is considerable higher, so much so it is not cost effective have it done. Ford needs to acknowledge the fact they have a problem at pay for the current repairs.
Got diagnosed with needing rear differential work $5k right after extended warranty was up, I proudly maintain my car well and in timely fashion. The vehicle is now unable to turn and reverse without sounding like something is breaking; this is two months after diagnosis. Spoke with ford quick lane rep who stated a lot of the Ford vehicle’s differential have been going up. Such a expensive important mechanical power train issues shouldn’t be a issue so soon in the life of a vehicle; this appear it needs to be a recall or something done for the thousands of people that have this issue.
2017 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-413. THE CONSUMER STATED PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THE RECALLS.
A check engine light came on in our 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L engine and the engine would shake when turning the car on. After taking it to the dealership, the car had two codes that came up: 0316 and 0302. After inspecting the car further, the diagnosis was that it was a blown head gasket. The car has 34,000 miles, and this issue should not happen this early. After some research, we learned that Ford Edge with our 2.0L engine, years 2016-2018, keep having this engine issue. Our understanding is this is a known issue due to the block design and the head gasket seal not being sized large enough. This problem was reproduced by the dealership and the recommendation is to replace the entire engine with a new 2.0L produced after 2018 when Ford redesigned the engine addressing the problem. The online community is complaining of having to deal with very high repair costs of this issue (needing to replace the whole engine), but Ford has not addressed it with the many owners or issued a recall.
My engine has coolant intrusion, which makes the car more at risk for engine failure or can start on fire and the only way to fix is a whole new engine replacement. This vehicle only has 56,800 miles and ford isn’t willing to replace engine because it’s met its 5 year warranty period but has not meet the 60,000 warranty period. I use this vehicle to travel with my family and just thinking it could start on fire any time do to an engineer flaw is ridiculous. This vehicle poses safety concerns for many families and I hope you guys hold the manufacturer responsible for these issues.
The contact's daughter owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter and bolts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V427000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 88,317.

the vehicle stopped going into “Reverse” and the transmission indicator remains in “Neutral” even when shifted to the “Park” position which has made the vehicle prone to rolling unless the Electronic Parking Brake is engaged. Once in the “Park” position the vehicle will not shift into any other position and remains locked unless the Shift Lock Release is engaged to allow the vehicle to shift into “Drive”
Due to faulting welding in the torque converter, the transmission failed and the car would shudder and disengage while driving. This problem was associated with a separate recall for the identical year, make and model vehicle where the torque converter failed and Ford Edge's from July 2017 to March 2018 were recalled: https://www.motorsafety.org/ford-recalls-vehicles-with-defective-torque-converters/ This vehicle was purchased in March 2017, so the recall should apply to earlier vehicles as this is a clear and present danger. A serious accident could result from the torque converter failing while the car is driving. Additionally, Ford refused to compensate me for my out of pocket repair costs. I strongly urge the NHTSA to expand the recall and reduce a serious hazard to owners of earlier models.
On 08/17/22 I took my car into Bill Collins because there was a loss of coolant, and my SUV was acting up. It was jerking randomly. At the time the SUV was noted to have 63,860 miles. Dealership fixed recalls on vehicle and did a pressure test and said there was a water pump leak. Replaced water pump and gasket. Check engine light remained on and when asked dealership about it they said in order to get the check engine light off it would have to go to another part of the dealership, and we would be charged another $99 diagnostic fee. On 11/21/22 SUV was taken back to Bill Collins because it was still doing the same thing. This time you could also hear water moving/draining from behind the dash and the check engine light was still on. Dealership fixed another recall showing on vehicle and said that the water pump had air pocket. Sent home but sputtering engine was not fixed. 12/08/22 contacted dealership again to let them know that nothing they have done over the past several months has worked and SUV is still acting up. Was told they would have a higher up mechanic look at vehicle to see what the issue was. Dealership contacted us two days later stating that vehicle needs a new motor. Current mileage 67,883. Dealership stated they verified coolant intrusion into cylinder and that it is necessary to replace the long block. Exact verbiage from dealership employee. (Coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. Verified defective engine block. Coolant leaking internally.) My SUV has been in and out of Bill Collins Ford for the past 4 months and no one could figure out the problem. Yet, when we spoke to Bill Collins about the new motor, we were told at that time that this is a known issue. Yet, no one mentioned it for 4 months and I've been driving my vehicle in this condition? I work for Ford and have supported Ford for the past 7 years. I am wanting to understand how Ford is going to make this right.
2017 Ford Edge Coolant Leaking into Cylinder(s) Dealership unable to schedule appointment for four months. Vehicle unsafe to drive due to possible engine failure Estimate to repair, per 3rd party mechanic is $10,000 (Ford Tech confirmed) Power Train Warranty is 60,000. Problem occurred at 69,000 miles. Research indicates this is a common problem with this and other Ford vehicles, with Class Action Law Suits in several states. However, it is not covered under a recall at this time.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated when he started the vehicle, the gear shifted to drive without any warning causing the vehicle to crash into the fence and the neighbor's porch, causing damages front end of the vehicle and under the vehicle. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. No one was injured and no police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and they stated that the vehicle was experiencing a similar failure as recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) but the vehicle was already serviced under that recall and the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 28,000.

2017 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-413. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE CONTACTED THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE PARTS ARENT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL.
My Ford Edge SE Flex plate broke while on the highway I was rapidly slowing down and could not get over cause of cars passing me on the right and left causing the vehicle behind me to almost rear ending me. I had it towed to the Ford dealership and he has confirmed it is the flex plate that broke. There was a rattling sound approximately a week prior to it breaking I had an appointment with the dealership the same day it broke and got towed in.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Own a 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost engine with 68,000 miles. Check engine light came on so took it to a local mechanic who replaced the spark plugs, coils, evap sensors, and cam shaft position sensor. The code was stating a misfire in the #2 cylinder. Less than a week later the light came back on and got an engine overheating warning. Added coolant and then had to add more coolant a few days later with no evidence of a coolant leak. When starting the vehicle or accelerate from a stop would notice a liquid swooshing sound. Also when starting the vehicle it would tremble and run ruff for a minute or two. There would be a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe with a bad oder that would eventually dissipate after diving a few miles. Finally drove the car to work and when I went to leave afterwards the vehicle would not start. Would crank but would never turn over. Had the car towed to a Ford dealer that diagnosed coolant leaking into the number 2 cylinder. They told me the only fix was to replace the engine. They gave me Fords number and told me to call and complain since I only had 68,000 miles on it. They gave me a copy of Fords response which states, “As a subsequent with no recent new vehicle or paid repair history, the customer generates a 0% share recommendation, meaning they do not meet the CLV requirements for the FLP assistance. Ford Motor Company is unable provide financial assistance in this case”. Called Ford and was told that there was nothing they could do since I was 8,000 miles over warranty and refused to offer any discounts or assistance. Asked to speak to the warranty department that made the decision not to cover and was informed there was no extension for that department so I can not speak to anyone that made the decision not to cover any of the costs. Was quoted from the dealer the cost for the repairs will be $7,710.81 plus taxes. This is a major safety issue as the defect can cause the engine to overheat and start on fire.

We currently have a 2017 Ford Edge with an Ecoboost 2.0 engine at our local Ford dealership. It began running poorly and the check engine light came on. Shortly after, it worsened with a whistling noise and more obvious cylinder misfiring. The codes for the engine light were P0303 and P0316, and was diagnosed with coolant in the cylinder. Per the service department at the dealership, this falls under Technical Service Bulletin 19-2346, with the only repair being complete engine replacement. At the time of this submission, it has been at the dealership for 12 weeks. We currently have no ETA on backordered parts to complete the repair, and will owe $4,300 for the repair when completed (originally over $11,000 quote). I would also like to reference Ford's Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) #21N12. This CSP offers free repair to many Ecoboost 1.5L engines that have had the identical diagnosis. The associated TSB for this is 22-2134, which aside from different sized engines, is identical to the TSB associated with our vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn into a parking lot, the vehicle stopped inadvertently with the engine still running. The accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact's wife was able to park in a parking space. There was no warning light illuminated. The tow truck company was contacted and attempted to reverse the vehicle onto the flatbed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was pushed onto the flatbed and towed to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V390000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to partially cover the cost of the repair. A case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Engine coolant getting into cylinders with symptoms of coolant loss, white exhaust smoke, rough running engine, and engine light on. This leads to rapid loss of coolant. I need to refill the coolant at the end of each day of driving, creating a potential further engine damage and risk of fire. A Ford dealership inspected the vehicle and determined these facts to be the case. The repair they deemed necessary is a new long block -- on my vehicle of only 45,000 miles -- at a price of $8,500.

I was driving the car on May 15 of 2022 going up a hill lost power was towed to a facility and we found out that the flywheel was cracked
I believe the component that is causing the intermittent issue is the throttle body, however the issue is very hard to diagnose as it is very intermittent. There has been another case on the same engine (just a different year) that I have found online. While entering a highway on multiple occasions now, the vehicles engine entered a limp mode, and the entire dash had lit up with service messages. The Wrench, Check Engine, Service AdvanceTrac, Blindspot Monitoring, and many more lights were present. This is unsafe because in both situations I was unable to accelerate to get out of the way of oncoming traffic let alone safely pull my car to the side of the road. In one instance I had to pull off on the only shoulder I had just as I was entering a major highway and ended up being half in the lane of oncoming traffic on a bend where oncoming vehicles could not really see me stopped. Ive been at a dealer twice, and there are no codes present, the issue goes away after a simple vehicle restart.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently vibrate and shake without warning upon depression of the brake pedal. One day as she approached a stop light, the vehicle began to stall upon depression of brake pedal with the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact's father was able to inspect the vehicle and diagnosed the vehicle with a defective torque converter. Upon investigation, her father then discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V390000 (Power Train) which he linked to her failure. The manufacturer was notified and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

A warning lamp for the power train came on while traveling on the highway (Wrench indicator). We stopped to check the owners manual for the meaning of the wrench indicator. After seeing it was for the power train, we started back up and headed towards Edgefield (where we live) and get to the closest Ford dealer. After starting the vehicle back up, the warning lamp was no longer lit. While accelerating to highway speeds entering the highway, the engine flex plate gave out and all power from the engine was lost. The vehicle still kept power to the electrical systems (Power steering, A/C, lights, etc.) but no power was being pushed to the wheels. Had the incident happened at full highway speeds, it is unknown what damage could have occurred. This is the assumption from myself due to the symptoms provided from the vehicle at the halt. Symptoms include: Grinding/Rattling sound from the rear of the engine, sounds more prevalent at idle and when shifting into gear, loss of power to wheels, and no other systems have issue after incident. Vehicle is currently at Herlong Ford (SC Ford Dealer) awaiting diagnostic and possible maintenance after the incident. I would assume the vehicle would be available for inspection upon request. After conducting research, we are now aware of a known recall on this specific vehicle for its age and time of manufacturing. The owned vehicle falls into the criteria for the recall but it is unknown why it is not noted on the vehicle history/Ford recall center. The vehicle was manufactured at the Oakville plant, falls within the recall years 2013-2018, and has shown all symptoms pertaining to the recall that is open on other vehicles.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idle, he heard abnormal knocking and ticking sounds coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. head gasket engineering defect - failed. - coolant leaking in cylinder - engine cracked - only 67,000 miles - was under warranty on years but over on mileage by 7,000 - refused to assist with cost of replacing engine - out of pocket cost close to 11,000 - 2,000 (recouped 1500) was for diagnosis from local garage and 9,000 for engine at Ford Dealership. No assistance with rental car, as well. Replacing engine lead time is 3 months! This is the only vehicle in household. Ford is aware of the engineering defect - has recently revised engineering to correct - a recall should be performed on cars from 2016 thru 2018 with Ford. The consumer should NOT be responsible for an engineering defect. These problems can surface as quick as 20,000 miles. Again! Coolant leak in cylinder destroyed the engine. Where are the Technical Service Bulletins on these vehicles!!? Prestine maintenance records follow this car - no fault of consumer - this is 100 percent Ford's fault. These need to be recalled immediately before a fatal accident occurs.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact’s wife stated that while reversing out of a parking spot, the vehicle began to violently shake. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V390000 (Power Train) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The rear differential completely blew apart while driving. According to our mechanic, this was a complete malfunction of the vehicle which only has 69,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign number 18V390000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was 95,274.

On Monday August 30th 2021 while driving the warning light stating that the engine was overheating came on. The engine was stopped and coolant level was checked and shown to be low within the engine. Coolant was refilled and the engine seemed to stabilize. On September 3rd 2021 the same overheating censor came on again and the car was taken to a licensed Ford dealer for emergency maintenance. On September 7th 2021 the repair shop called and reported that the issue was a leak in the cylinder for the coolant in the engine and that the entire engine would have to be replaced. The cost of the repair was quoted as $7636 plus tax. The car is only just over 62,000 miles with the warranty period having ended at 60,000 miles.
THE 3RD CYLINDER MANUFACTURE MALFUNCTION CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE AND REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT OF THE LONG BLOCK ENGINE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A TSB BUT NO RECALL. PLEASE SEE FORD TSB 19-2208. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CODE IS TO REPLACE THE 3 COIL CYLINDER WHICH HAS BEEN DONE THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN AT FORD AND NO DIAGNOSTIC DONE AS SOON AS I TOLD THEM I WAS ADDING COOLANT DAILY THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND NEEDED REPAIRS.
Vehicle began exhibiting a loud rattle from the engine at idle. Took vehicle to dealer and they identified it as a cracked flex plate (flexplate). While vehicle was still drivable at the time, the flex plate had the potential to fully fail at any time, which would cause power loss to the wheels. Vehicle has 62000 miles, just outside of power train warranty, and expected to cost $5000 to $10000 to repair.
In 2019 I had the same issue as prior report. Coolant made it's way into the engine and my engine had to be replaced. Actually occurred within warranty so Ford replaced it. On then new engine there is no warranty once I reach the original warranty in mileage / time. Now in 2021 I am replacing a transmission that is not covered under warranty. There is a recall for transmission on 2017 and 2018, mine is a 2017, and my vin does not indicate it is subject to that recall (Recall no. 19V285000). Cost is $4,600.
The flex plate cracked. They had to remove the transmission and replace the flex plate bolts.
2017 Ford edge with 79,000 miles began to make a loud engine rattle, it almost sounded like someone had put a semi-engine in it overnight. No check engine lights ever appeared. Took it to a local shop and they came out to look at it and said it sounded really bad and I needed to tow it to a Ford House immediately. Once Ford took it apart they found that the flywheel had cracked, and it caused my crankshaft to crack as well. They're saying I need a complete engine replacement for $8,000. Big safety issue that no check engine light never came on with complete engine failure.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would start shaking violently. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V390000 (Power Train) and 17V427000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.

AT ROUGHLY 77,500 MILES OUR ENGINE STARTING MISFIRING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED CODE P0305, INDICATING CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. WE REPLACED THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO MISFIRE. WE THEN BEGAN HEARING FLUID MOVING BEHIND OUR DASH BOARD AND NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT TANK WAS LOW BUT NO VISIBLE COOLANT LEAK WAS FOUND. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER'S SERVICE CENTER (WOODHOUSE FORD - OMAHA, NE) FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THEY CONFIRMED THAT ENGINE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #2, CAUSING THE MISFIRE. IT WAS ALSO LEAKING INTO THE HEATING ELEMENT, CAUSING A PUTRID SMELL IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE AND THE RUSHING FLUID SOUND BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. THEY CONFIRMED THIS IS RELATED TO FORD TSB 19-2346. FORD STATED THAT THE REPAIR REQUIRES A $6300 REPLACEMENT ENGINE AND THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AS A RESULT OF THEIR DEFECT. PER THE TSB, THIS ENGINE DEFECT MAY RESULT IN ENGINE FIRES BUT FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT GET TO THIS POINT FOR US.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL WHILE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN PARK. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARUSO FORD LINCOLN (3500 CHERRY AVE, LONG BEACH, CA 90807) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE GEAR UNIT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.

VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 3/11/2019 IN WAS IN A TSP STATUS WITH FORD THAT TURNED INTO A RECALL. THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED TO THIS DATE AND HAS BEEN INTO THE SERVICE CENTER 10 TIMES. IT IS CURRENTLY THERE AGAIN. FORD HAS MADE ALL OF THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, A DANGEROUS ISSUE PERSISTS WITH THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AND FORDS MASTER MECHANICS HAVE NOT SOLVED THE ISSUES. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT PRESENTS A VERY CLEAR HAZARD FOR THE OCCUPANTS AS WELL AS THE PUBLIC. THE ENGINE LOOSES COOLANT RAPIDLY WITH FORD NOT BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE COOLANT GOES. THE ENGINE SEIZES AND CAUSES YOU TO HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP.
MY VEHICLE HAS A CRACKED FLYWHEEL WHICH IS UNDER RECALL ON MOST 2017 EDGE VEHICLES. HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL SO I AM NOW PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR IT TO BE FIXED.

I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS DRIVING AROUND TOWN ONE DAY WHEN I NOTICED MY AUTO ENGINE START/STOP FEATURE IN MY 2017 FORD EDGE STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE IN THE ENGINE. A WEEK LATER, A YELLOW LIGHT WITH THE PICTURE OF AN ENGINE APPEARS ON MY DASH. I TOOK MY CAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. IT CAME BACK WITH THE CODE P0304. I TAKE MY CAR TO FORD AND THEY SUGGEST REPLACING THE LONG BLOCK. THEY QUOTE ME $6,800. I NOTICED THAT MY HEAT IN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY HOME. I CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT WAS REALLY LOW. I PUT COOLANT IN MY RESERVOIR AND IT WORKS AGAIN. BUT, I HAVE TO KEEP FILLING THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY, WHICH GETS EXPENSIVE. I TELL THE SERVICE GUYS, AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO MY ENGINE DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, WHICH CAUSES THE HEATING TO STOP WORKING, AND LOW COOLANT LEVELS. I CONTACT FORD MOTORS COMPANY, AND THEY TELL ME MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I PURCHASED MY CAR USED ON FEBRUARY 27,2020. IT HAD 57 THOUSAND MILES ON IT THE DAY OF PURCHASE. THE WARRANTY WAS UP AT 60 THOUSAND MILES. NOT FAIR TO ME AT ALL AS I WAS TOLD I HAD A WARRANTY FROM THE MILEAGE I GOT THE CAR AT AND 60 THOUSAND MILES BEYOND. THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND ALSO BECAUSE I DID NOT LEAVE MY CAR AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON MY CASE. MY CASE MANAGER FROM FORD MOTORS NEVER EVER CONTACTED ME PRIOR TO CLOSING MY CASE ONCE SHE DISCOVERED I NEVER LEFT MY CAR AT FORD. I TRIED REACHING OUT TO HER SEVERAL TIMES IN ATTEMPTS OF GETTING MY CAR TO FORD AND SEEING WHERE WE CAN GO FROM THERE, AND SHE NEVER ANSWERED OR RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS OR EMAILS. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND ISSUE A RECALL AS THEY WERE MADE AWARE OF THE EXPENSIVE ISSUE BY MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS FROM REVIEWS AND FORUMS I HAVE READ ONLINE AND HEARD FROM OTHER EDGE OWNERS.
Mileage: 58,000
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY 2019 WITH 43K MILES, STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IN NOVEMBER 2020 I NOTICED THE VEHICLE MISFIRING DURING STARTUP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER HAVING MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSIS, IT IS THE ISSUE OF COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #4 AND THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED. IT NOW HAS 70K MILES SO IT IS OUT OF POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENDED ISSUE AS REPORTED BY FORD INNITIALLY IN THEIR TSB 19-2172. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSES SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND SHOULD BE RECALL UNDER EVERY REASONABLE CIRCUMSTANCE.

HAPPENS EVERY TIME I BRAKE. HITTING THE BRAKE TO STOP ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AS I COME TO A STOP. IN ADDITION TO VIOLENT ENGINE SHAKING THE CAR IS THRUSTING FORWARD. I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT HARDER ON THE BRAKE NOT TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I WILL HAVE TO THROW IT IN NEUTRAL TO STOP THE SHAKING. IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE REVS. WHEN TRAFFIC BEGINS TO MOVE I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND HIT THE GAS BUT THEN IT LAGS SEVERELY. IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE FOR MULTIPLE SECONDS BEFORE IT FINALLY TAKES OFF. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENS EVERYTIME I STOP AND GO. IF YOU ARE IN PARK AND HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TOO LONG BEFORE PUTTING IN A GEAR IT STALLS OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND OPENED A CASE WITH FORD CORPORATION WHO BOTH DEEMED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE, BUT NEITHER WANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE AND FORD HAS DENIED TO ASSIST WITH GETTING IT FIXED TWICE. THERE ARE SO MANY UNSAFE 2017 FORD EDGE TRANSMISSIONS. I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. IT'S VERY SCARY TO DRIVE. MY DOCUMENTS ARE IN THE FORD COMPUTER SYSTEM. THEY SAY THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP AND RHE WHOLE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED. I'VE ALMOST BEEN HIT SO MANY TIMES PULLING OUT BECAUSE THE CAR DOESN'T GO.

WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IDLED ROUGH AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THE CODE WAS FOR A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. MECHANIC CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND CLEARED THE CODE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE LONG BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 64,000 MILES. WITH THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE ACCELERATION DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT AND THE CAR SHAKES. THIS PROBLEM IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE SITUATION AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THE FORD EDGE IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN DESIGN.

2017 EDGE CODES CAME ON FOR TORQUE CONVERTER NOT LOCKING UP TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ( GREEN FORD OF GAINESVILLE GA. ) WAS INFORMED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND FRON PUMP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 69,000 MILES ON IT THEY WOULD NOT HELP US WITH THE FACTORY. SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WE CALLED FORD DIRECTLY AND COULD NOT GET ANYONE TO HELP US. $3020.00 FOR REPAIRS, THEY WILL NOT HELP IN ANY WAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. IT WILL BE THE LAST VEHICLE WE WILL EVER BUY FROM FORD. THIS IS A SAD WAY TO TREAT A LOYAL CUSTOMER ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SPENT 500 DOLLARS TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COIL REPLACED. THEN NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER CHECK ENGINE IS ON AGAIN SAME ISSUE AGAIN. APPARENTLY BREAK FLUID IS LEAKING DUE TO A RECALL, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK FOR WHAT WAS FIXED DUE TO IT BEING THERE PROBLEM.

OUR 2017 FORD EDGE EXPERIENCED CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING - WITH ABSOLUTELY NO ADVANCE WARNING. THE TORQUE CONVERTER FELL APART AND THE VEHICLE WENT FROM DRIVING AT SPEED TO LOSING ALL MOMENTUM. IF WE HAD BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. FORD HAS IDENTIFIED THIS ISSUE WITH 2017 FORD EDGE VEHICLES. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2017 FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR VEHICLES BUILT DURING THE TIME PERIOD THAT OURS WAS BUILT, BUT ACCORDING TO FORD, OURS WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THAT RECALL (NHSTA ID #18V390000). IN 2018, FORD ADDED A RECALL ON 25 ADDITIONAL VEHICLES BECAUSE THEY FOUND THAT MORE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS HAD BEEN INSTALLED THAN INITIALLY THOUGHT (NHSTA ID#17V427000). OURS WAS ALSO NOT ONE OF THOSE IDENTIFIED. OUR VEHICLE HAD 67,032 MILES WHEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED IN EXACTLY THE FASHION DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. FORD REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR AS THE VEHICLE WAS PAST THE WARRANTY MILEAGE AND FORD WANTED CLOSE TO $5,000 TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS TWO YEAR OLD VEHICLE. I AM CERTAIN THAT THIS ISSUE IS THE EXACT ISSUE THAT AFFECTED VEHICLES MANUFACTURED DURING THE SAME TIME FRAME WITH EXACTLY THE SAME TRANSMISSION. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOWED TO AGREED THAT I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS WAS IDENTIFIED, BUT TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ESCALATE THE CONCERNS I HAD. I AM CONVINCED THAT FORD IS DOWNPLAYING THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES AFFECTED AND AM CERTAIN THAT THIS WILL IMPACT MORE 2017 FORD EDGE VEHICLES. I HAVE REPEATEDLY REACHED OUT TO FORD AND THEY REFUSED TO EVEN OPEN A CASE IN TO MY CONCERNS. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TED BRITT FORD IN CHANTILLY VA (703-673-2300). THEY WERE OF ABSOLUTELY NO HELP IN ADDRESSING ANY OF MY CONCERNS, BUT SHOULD BE CONTACTED TO CONFIRM THAT THE ISSUE WAS JUST AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CAN HAVE LIFE THREATENING CONSEQUENCES.
