Recall notices sent out September 2025, no updates have been provided. I have contacted the dealer for additional support, and they just can confirm parts are not available. One of the recalls is for potential leaks from a flexible break line; seem that in six months parts would be available for something as serious as a break line; even the recall states it could lead to loss of breaking resulting in an accident.
I am reporting that my 2017 Ford Edge's rear driver-side brake line was leaking so badly today that my brakes did not function. My brake pedal went to the floor! Thankfully I was near my home and able to get to my driveway and I could pump my pedal enough to stop my vehicle! It is very concerning that Ford knew of this issue and sent the recall letter back in September but has yet to correct this extreme safety hazard for people. Now I am home, unable to get to my office for work and/or my appointments. The first ability for Ford to service my vehicle is this Friday -- so that's today, Wed, Thurs and Friday w/o being able to drive at all. I have to pay $136 to get my vehicle towed over to the Ford dealership and now I'll be paying who know what for my vehicle to get fixed. This same dealership just recently performed maintenance on my back brakes within the last few months and no one there said anything to me to indicate there was any issue with my brake lines. I have the recall notice at home for this issue, and the first they said to me when I called was that Ford had still NOT provided parts to fix this. I consider this a real emergency and I would just say again that I am thankful to God I was close to home, decided to take my dogs down to the Katy Trail close to my house for a walk and only had to drive a slow rate of speed and short distance to come back home w/ minimal traffic on the road. I normally drive a two lane black top to work for about 30 minutes and I am sure this issue would have caused a terrible accident if I had needed to drive to my office this morning. I CERTAINLY HOPE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY PLANS TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS REPAIR AND TOWING. MY SERVICE DATE IS THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 9 AT CHRIS AUFFENBURG FORD / LINCOLN IN WASHINGTON, MISSOURI.
I bought the car when it was 1 year old. I have never had the front brake calipers off the car but 2 of the front brake caliper bracket bolts became loose and fell out. It appears that when the car was built that the bolts weren't torqued properly.
The contact's friend owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle failed the Emissions test in Georgia. The contact stated while driving approximately 35-70 MPH, the transmission was slipping, and the vehicle was shaking and jerking abnormally. The vehicle was difficult to drive. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard, but the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, who confirmed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 147,048.

TWO NHTSA NOTIFICATIONS RECEIVED IN SEPTEMBER 2025 AND HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED BY FMC REGARDING REPAIRS. HAVE CONCERNS WITH BRAKE LINE RECALL AND AT CURRENT TIME HAVE COMPLETELY BLURRED CAMERA, AND UNABLE TO VIEW REAR CAMERA WHILE BACKING UP. CONTACT LOCAL DEALER REGARDING REPAIRS BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIRS UNTIL FMC NOTIFICATIONS. HOW LONG DOES FMC HAVE TO MAKE REPAIRS ONCE NOTIFIED BY NHTSA?
Our 2017 Ford Edge that we bought for our daughter to drive to college already had the passenger read brake line blow out and ruin the seals on the calipers and the parking brake actuator had to be replaced. The pedal went to the floor and she couldn't stop at an intersection and she put a hole in the front bumper. There was no warning in the dash to indicate that there was a problem with the brakes. It just failed out of nowhere. We went to the Ford dealer we bought the car from, Alma Ford and asked them what they could do since that part that is recalled is what broke. They said they could not do anything because they have no parts and would not help us. We ended up having to take the car to an independent mechanic and pay out of our own pocket to get it fixed.
There are two safety recalls for my car. Service brakes and rear camera. The camera stopped working four years ago. I took it to ford, they said we can replace it for $1500. However, now they don’t have the parts. What kind of scam is Ford and nhtsa doing? The brake line recall was first reported over four years ago, I know this because I received a letter back then. I was told by the Chapman ford, I nj, that when the parts come in they would contact me. Well that never happened. Again what kind of scam is being run here. I’m 73, I really need this camera repaired, I can’t afford $1500. So when are these parts available. A letter should be sent to all the people with an eta when parts will be available for recalls. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED LETTER This complaint is being submitted due to gross negligence in recall communication and manufacturer accountability. This failure in vehicle safety oversight that has already resulted in emotional and financial harm. In September of this year, I submitted an application for a buy-back option to Ford but was denied. This application/request was assigned a case number by Ford: cxh05566445w6s6x2 My vehicle has four unresolved safety recalls, two of which directly caused two accident that could—and should—have been prevented had I been notified of the known safety risks. I did not receive recall notices until after both of the accidents occurred, which demonstrates a systemic failure by the manufacturer, Ford. This negligence is not only irresponsible—it violates basic safety obligations to consumers and the public. I request immediate action from NHTSA to investigate this matter and enforce compliance. A description of the incidents and associated recalls that have incurred are described on the following page. Additionally, just last week while driving on a rural road, my vehicle’s transmission unexpectedly shifted from standard Drive into Sport mode (“S”) on its own without any input from me. This sudden and uncommanded gear change created a dangerous driving situation, and I strongly believe this may be another serious safety defect that has yet to be acknowledged or recalled by the manufacturer. 1. NHTSA Recall Number: 25V572 Recall Date: September 8, 2025 Manufacturer Recall Number: 25S89 Incident Date: January 2025 Incident Description: In January 2025, while backing out of my driveway, the rear-view camera suddenly displayed a distorted image and failed to detect a large tree directly behind my vehicle, causing me to reverse into it. This was not a minor inconvenience—this safety failure could have resulted in serious injury or worse had a child, pedestrian, or another vehicle been behind me at the time. I often have my children and neighborhood kids near my driveway, and I relied on
I am trying to file a complaint about no parts for recalls. I have had three recalls on this vehicle and none of them has been rectified due to no parts available. I'm trying to find out why we cannot get parts to fix the transmission bell housing or the brake hoses on these recall notices? I also have a recall for the rear camera. I'm not sure if these recalls are just for my information, or if they ever intend to get parts? The transmission recall is from several years back, and now the recall quit showing up. I guess it magically took care of itself. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics) and 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that after pulling into a parking lot at 5 MPH, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without applying more pressure to the accelerator pedal. The vehicle crashed into the cement foundation of a handicap sign, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop. No air bags deployed. The contact received emotional distress. The contact's husband, brother, and friend also experienced emotional distress. The vehicle's fender was slightly detached due to the incident. Someone assisted them with tying the fender to the vehicle with a rope before driving the vehicle home at approximately 10 MPH. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed. The dealer replaced the front bumper, grille, front lamps, radiator support, mount tie bar, fender, and electrical components, as well as other unknown parts. The dealer confirmed that there were no remedies available for the recalls. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact owned a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000 (Service brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic); and several other recall notifications. The contact requested to be removed from the recall distribution list because the vehicle was totaled. The manufacturer was contacted several times.
A couple months ago, my right rear brake line broke. Yesterday, my left brake line also broke. On the first occasion, a warning lamp appeared on my dash, but it did not alert me this most recent time. On both occasions, my breaks were very spongey and I noticed my car take an extended time to stop, and it never came to a complete stop. I also noticed greasy fluid leaking from the rear. The right side has been repaired by a Ford dealership, but I had to pay for it. I'm still awaiting a repair for this 2nd line and I have brought this recall notice to the dealerships attention. I've requested that the repair the part free of charge but it's not resolved yet
So I bought my Ford edge in the early spring of 2025. A couple of months after I had this vehicle the brake fluid light started flashing on my dash so my husband checked the brake fluid level and it was low. We filled it up we proceeded to go on with our life, but then we started having to constantly put brake fluid in it about that same time I went and had an oil change done, and Jiffy Lube was doing the walk around of a car of my car and my husband asked him to please check the brakes because we were having to put an usual amount of brake fluid in car so upon inspection they noticed that the left rear brake line had burst and was leaking a considerable amount of brake fluid upon further investigation that my husband did he found that there was a recall done on the front brake lines and the way he read it was that the rear brake lines were also in question as well what he didn’t really realize at the beginning was that the rear tires or though I’m sorry the rear brake lines were under investigation of being recalled, but not recalled at this time so I’ve had $150 to have my brake lines fixed on the left rear side of the car I had them fixed with cell Ford in new Bern, North Carolina, and when I went back this evening to look at their inspection to figure out exactly what was fixed because when we stopped for gas this evening, my husband, after not being able to stop very well at a stop sign on the way to get gas saw that the left rear brake line had burst and if you hit the brake, the brake fluid would go spraying everywhere again. After we noticed, that is when we started looking for my receipt from a Ford to see exactly which side we had had replaced, we couldn’t remember off the top of our heads I didn’t at any rate. When we found the invoice online to the link that they had sent me the day, my car was getting fixed. We discovered that the left brakes were the ones that had come under recall however an investigation has been opened up on the rear brakes that
Passenger side rear brake line rupture causing loss of braking during normal driving. No warning lamps or indication of failure prior to loss of braking. Defective part is available for inspection as of 7/16/25. No one needs to confirm issue as it was necessary to repair in order to safely drive vehicle. I purchased replacement brake line and performed necessary repairs. No one has inspected repair.
Recently my brakes have become very spongy. We have replaced the brake pads, calipers, rotars and e-brake. They are still spongy and nothing has been resolving the issue. My lines have been bled 3 times now at a cost of $100 each time. I have to pump my brakes to tighten them. Mechanic cannot find any problems. I see there is an open investigation with NHTSA regarding 2015-2017 ford edge braking systems. Not sure if mine is related or not, but something is wrong.
The rear brake lines completely failed, leaked as I drove down the driveway. Had to have the car towed and had to pay Ford to replace the lines; over $650. The front brake lines had done the same thing a few years ago. These Ford Edges have lots of manufacturing defects. I had to have the entire engine replaced due to fluid leaking into the pistons. Luckily it was under extended warranty, but Ford should have had to replace anyway since it's a well-documented problem. I'd like the rear brake lines to be under recall so I can get reimbursed.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal to start the vehicle, the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The contact went to the rear of the vehicle and became aware there was brake fluid leaking near the rear driver’s side tire. The failure had occurred approximately one year ago on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the brake lines were fractured in half. The contact was informed that the brake line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000.

Both rear break lines snapped and leaked within 1 momtj
Applied the brakes at a red light brake pedal went to the floor was a few blocks from home got home found right rear brake hose ruptured and brake fluid leaking out
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH downhill, the brakes became inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The driver turned the steering wheel from side to side to slow the vehicle. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the vehicle drove through a stop sign and eventually came to a stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and confirmed there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.

I have been fixing my brakes and rotors every 4 months. 3 times my brake line has busted. The first time there was a recall and it was fixed. The second time I almost died had to hop a curb to stop I had my baby in the car with me. Ford apologized and gave me a free extended platinum warranty and fixed the problem. This last time I was pulling out of the pharmacy and my peddle went straight to the floor and I couldn't stop I was luckily in a empty parking lot. I keep having problems with the brakes and loud squealing noises. I stopped going to the dealership because they said I drive alot and need new breaks every 4 months, when I shouldn't need breaks every couple thousand miles. I'm being tooken advantage of. I can't afford to keep getting brakes and rotors. I'm a single mom on disability. I just got new break pads and rotors and calipers a month ago. I brought my truck into a mechanic to clean the break parts because my rims are so dirty and the squealing is so loud and when I come to a complete stop my truck feels hesitant. The mechanic cleaned & greased my pads and calipers and out some red paste said that should help but it didn't. This is absolutely insanity. Something is wrong. This is the 2nd time my passenger seat belt has stopped working and my air bag light is on. I can't afford to take it back to the dealership and pay 100s of dollars. This has been a repeating problem for years with the breaks. 5 years to be exact. And 8 months ago I fixed the seatbelt.
On the morning of [XXX], I left home in my vehicle for work and felt a difference in brake pressure. After about a block away from home the brake pedal started hitting the floor every time I engaged it. The dashboard indicated that the brake fluid was low, so I returned home to check it and fill up. As I started it up again and engaged the brakes it still hit the floor. On making a visual inspection of the area, pool of fluid was discovered on the ground. I took it to a shop and was informed that the right rear hose was busted. So I had to have it replaced. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Spontaneous rupture of rear passenger brake line.
Fall of 2024 my right/rear brake line blew. March 3rd 2025 the left/rear brake line blew. Left with no brakes both times and costly repairs. Called my Ford dealer and they said there is no recalls. My mechanic said that both break line failed. There were no warning signs either time. Very scary and dangerous!
The parking brake may fail. There is a common problem when looking online.
*Left rear brake failure. *Hard to stop - spongy brake pedal goes to floorboard when trying to stop. *Independent service center confirmed left rear brake hose leak. *Only the service center inspected the vehicle. *No warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to the failure. The problem first appeared the day of the brake failure. *I had the car towed to the independent service center. They found the left rear brake hose leaking brake fluid. They suggested replacing both rear brake hoses. Once replaced, they did not notice any other issues on the test drive afterwards.
On multiple occasions, the climate control system cuts out causing no defrost, the wipers stop working, and while driving the rear brake line failed which almost caused an accident. Ford stated it was outside of the warranty however the vehicle is driven only on streets and seems like a strange failure.
My 10yr old son and I were coming to stop light only to press the breaks and not be able to stop completely until using the parking break. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time since 2021we have experienced the shocking reality of suddenly no being able to stop. (no fluid where parked, no warning lights no sounds) I had my car towed to the dealership and (even though the front break line was replaced twice in the past) the Ford service center was quickly able to identify the cause of the leak and is charging me $1750 to fix the same problem with the back brake hose since recall only covered the front.
My right rear brake hose ruptured while pulling into my garage. Peddle went soft and I had to throw it in park in order to not hit the wall.
Rear break hoses rupture. My car kept loosing break fluid with no dash board warnings until break pressure became so low that it was hard to stop my vehicle. My vehicle began to move forward while my foot was on the break. This rupture in my break lines put me, my family, other drivers and pedestrians lives in danger. The problem was identified by Ford dealership 1 month after I got the recall on my front break hoses fixed. My car was loosing break fluid when I brung it in to fix the recall and it continued to do so until I brung the car back in for the same problem.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact depressed the brake pedal to the floorboard and allowed the vehicle to roll to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a ruptured rear passenger’s side brake line. The contact was informed that the rear passenger’s side brake line needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced several times by the dealer due to brake failure. In addition, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred without warning. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 30,100.

The front brake lines burst about a year ago and were services by a repair shop, just a few hours ago the rear passenger brake line suddenly burst-ed in the same manner as the front (that were part of the recall about a year ago) - it might be something worth looking into as this would be a key safety issue. there was no slow leak or damage to the rear brake line prior to it suddenly failing ( with about a 15mm hole near the top of the bend of the rubber near where it meets the steel line.
Right rear rubber brake line burst open causing almost complete brake failure. No warning lamps before or after.
Driver side rear flexible brake hose ruptured, passenger side flexible brake hose was bulging and ready to rupture. Drove vehicle approximately 2 -3 miles before brake system warning light cluster illuminated and loss of braking power occurred. Safety recall Notice 20S42/ NHTSA Recall20V-469 (May 2021) issued for front brake lines however, this appears that the rear lines should have been included as well. This vehicle has less than 84,000 miles on it.
My vehicle has a dash light warning for service that says "Limited Park Brake Function, Service Vehicle" and then applies my parking break on its own. I have at times be unable to get the parking brake to release and will have to start and stop my vehicle numerous times before it will accept me releasing the parking brake.
Twice this weekend, when I parking on a steep driveway, I put the shift lever into the park position, I turned off the vehicle and began to exit the vehicle. When I released my foot pressure on the brake pedal, the Ford Edge began to roll backward. I had to reapply pressure to the brake pedal and then engage the emergency brake to stop the vehicle from rolling. I understand that in June 2022 Ford issued a recall for almost 3 million vehicles including 509K Ford Edge models (between the years of 2015 - 2018), however my vin number was not included in the recall - [XXX] . - Yes, my safety and the safety of others was put at risk. - I am waiting to hear back from the dealership to schedule an appointment - No one has inspected the vehicle components yet (waiting to hear back from dealership to take the vehicle in) - There were no warning indications of any potential problem prior to my experience yesterday Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and instructions on how I should proceed. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 70 MPH and approaching an exit, the brake pedal was depressed but the brakes failed to engage. As a result, the driver crashed into a vehicle in front that was stopped at a red light. The air bag deployed. No warning light was illuminated. A police report was filed. There was a six-year-old daughter occupant seated at the rear driver's at the time of the failure. Both received minor abrasions. The driver had a seat belt abrasion on her collarbone. The daughter had a seatbelt abrasion in the lower abdomen. Medical treatment was needed and both received blood tests to make sure there was no damage to the liver. The vehicle was towed to a lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

In 2020, Ford issued a recall of 2015-2018 Ford Edges due to a FRONT brake jounce hoses that could rupture. Ford Reference recall# 20S42. Today, the REAR brake hoses ruptured, which caused a progressive brake fluid leak; which caused the brake fluid warning indicator light to illuminate. This caused a reduction in the rate of deceleration, and having to tow the vehicle to a Ford dealership for repair. Concerned that the same issue with the front hoses have now affected the REAR brake hoses.
RECALL FOR BUSHINGS & CUSTOMER SATISFACTION LETTER FOR BROKEN FLEXPLATE REPAIRED AT THE SAME TIME. 1 HOUR AFTER RECIEVING CAR, TOOL BAR POPS ON DASHBOARD. TAKES BACK TO DEALERSSHIP- STATES THEY FORGOT TO PROGRAM SOFTWARE. 3 DAYS LATER DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED/ SERVICE NOW. I NEVER TOUCH/USE THE PARKING BRAKE. NOR HAVE I HAD ANY LIGHTS/ ISSUES WITH MYCAR BEFORE THIS. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS TURNING ON AND NOT EVEN ENGAGED. TAKES BACK TO DEALER AFTER NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER TO BE TOLD THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CAR, NOT RECALLED THOUGH. THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE HARNESS NEEDS REPAIR. BEST TO REPLACE BOTH BECAUSE IT'LL GO OUT NEXT. 3 TRIPS TO THE DEALER AND $600 LATER HERE WE ARE FOR FORD MALFUNCTIONS.
Had brake calipers replaced 3 weeks ago. Picked up vehicle and brake pedal was going to the floor. Dealer said it was air in the line. Get vehicle back and 2 weeks later I am driving I apply the brakes and the pedal goes to the floor and my vehicle barely stops. Almost hit the person in front of me. The warning light for Low Brake Fluid Comes on. I am told by the Dealer that the rubber brake line is leaking somewhere. Ford says that my vehicle is not a part of the recall on the Ford rubber hose issue. How is this not the same issue!
I was parked. Pressed brake to start car; brake pedal went all the way to the floor. When the car started warning message appeared that brake fluid was low. I had no prior warnings/signs of brake failure. I had no brakes whatsoever making the car undriveable. Car was taken to Firestone Complete Auto Care where it was determined a rear brake hose had prematurely ruptured, whereby leaking all brake fluid. Said brake hoses should last 20+ years. Brake hose was replaced by Firestone.
On 03/16/2018 my wife noticed her brakes were not working correctly. The brake pedal would go straight to the floor and she had trouble getting the car to stop. She called and said the warning for low brake fluid came on as well. When she arrived home I noticed the rear driver side brake line was leaking. The car had to be towed to Arrow Ford in Abilene, Texas. The dealership tried to say my wife ran something over but the location behind the rear shock does not allow any room for debris to hit the brake line. We’ve already have had the front brake line rupture before the recall on the front brake lines. We had to pay out of our pocket without reimbursement and now we are going to pay for the rear brake line to be replaced. This is an extremely dangerous issue with ford brake lines that needs to be addressed. Luckily my wife was driving in town at slower speeds cause this could have been fatal. There has been no inspection on the component except from the dealership mechanic after the rupture. Currently my wife’s vehicle sits at the dealership waiting for repairs.
On 2-17-23, the right rear brake hose ruptured. The brake pedal sunk almost to the floor and two different brake warning lights came on. The brake fluid reservoir had no visible fluid in it and I saw fluid on the right rear tire. That day I took the vehicle to a dealership in Beaverton, OR without accident or injury. In September 2020 both front flexible brake hoses were replaced due to Recall 20S42/NHTSA Recall 20V-469. If, as I suspect the rear brake hoses are made by the same manufacturer as the front hoses it seems logical that the rear hose rupture is also a factory defect that likely should be recalled. So far 3 out of 4 of the brake hoses have been replaced- the front two under NHTSA safety recall for fear of rupture and the right rear for actual dangerous rupture. I am extremely worried about the potential untimely and dangerous rupture of the left rear brake hose. On 4-26-20, I purchased a Ford PremiumCARE extended warranty that is in effect for this vehicle, but so far Ford refuses to cover the right or left rear brake hose under warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Arbitration Program for Ford over this matter (Attached).
While driving on the interstate in evening rush hour traffic, the traffic became "stop and go" traffic. I applied the brakes and to much my surprise the pedal went from firm to a bleed off condition. I was unable to pull over so I began driving the vehicle then shifting to neutral and pumping the brake in order to stop. This condition continued until my brake fluid low warning came on. I eventually made it to a Quick Trip and was able to look under the hood and the underside of the car did not see anything dripping. I purchased some brake fluid and used all of it to fill the reservoir, as it appeared that the system was dry and no more fluid was available to leak out. My daughter met me at the Quick Trip and I had her follow me another 9 miles to drop off a Foster Dog and then home. When we stopped to drop off the dog she noticed a small area at my passenger rear tire that was dripping. I inspected it and confirmed that it was brake fluid. She continued to follow me home and she noted that when I put on my brakes before pulling onto the service road that it was "raining fluid" from the passenger rear tire area. When I got it to the house I put the car up on jacks, removed the tire and found the hydraulic hose, that supplies the brake calliper, had an area that was ruptured.
Right rear brake hose ruptured.
While my wife was driving this vehicle at highway speeds she attempted to brake and realized she had little stopping ability. She managed to slowly get the vehicle to our home without having to be towed . I then inspected the vehicle and after taking off the drivers side rear wheel realized the brake line at the caliper had burst and allowed the brake fluid to drain out. Keeping in mind there was a recall on the front brake lines which we had repaired-I was hopeful FORD would also repair this brake line. After contacting the dealership was told no recall had been issued for this problem and I would have to have it repaired myself. Luckily my wife or someone else wasn’t seriously injured throughout this incident. I have taken a picture of the brake line for review and have a copy of the repair bill and the cost of the brake line.
front driver side Brake hose went out. got it fixed at the ford dealership. a couple months later my front passenger side brake hose went out. got it fixed at the ford dealership, but this time the dealership told me my master cylinder was bad and I needed to get that fixed too. ford finally acknowledged the problem, but it took them a year to actually fix it. a year after they acknowledged the recall and actually fixed it a couple months later my rear brake hose went out. however ford dealership refused to fix the rear brake hose, the dealership said the rear brake hoses were not included in the recall (only the front brake hoses).
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and attempting to make a turn, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond and went all the way to the floorboard. The message "Brake Fluid Reservoir Low" was displayed. The contact continued driving in the straightforward lane. The contact engaged the electronic parking brake and the vehicle stopped. The contact was able to continue driving to his residence at a slow speed. The contact then noticed that there was no brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that parts for recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,534. Parts distribution disconnect.

I have 2 manufacture RECALLS………. -1st recall is very recent “NHTSA Safety Recall 22V413……….waiting on Ford to distribute the parts to dealerships. -2nd recall is from 2020 “Front Brake Flexible Hose Leaks”………I’ve contacted 4 local Ford Dealers in the Jackson area, TN…….and NO ONE HAS THE BREAK HOSES. ITS BEEN 2 years!”!”! I’ll be seeking legal advice….I’m in fear of driving my car…. My neighbor who has the same model car had BOTH Brake Hoses break while she was driving. She literally had no brakes while in traffic. Can you help me??
Car's brakes went to floor when engaged. Driver pumped them several times to slow car. Engine light came on; took car to mechanic and brake repair was made, but engine light kept appearing. Then the car would not crank and was towed to the mechanic and the battery was replaced. Finally, the car's body/wheels appeared to be shaking when driving and the engine light appeared again. Car was taken to a Ford repair center where service department informed us that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leak. The car is driveable but unsafe and requires expensive engine replacement. After doing research, this appears to be a well known problem with the Ford Edge and consumers aren't receiving adequate information about the extent of the problem or safety concerns. A recall needs to be issued for this defect and Ford needs to take responsibility to fix the problem.
Bought this car used. Never received recall letter. Wife was driving car stepped on brake. Pedal went to the floor and car stopped slowly. Dealer and Ford Corp both said they would replace both front brake hoses but parts would take up to two weeks to get. They said I am not entitled to a loaner car or towing of the vehicle because the recall letter stated that the hoses could leak not that it could break. They also said that NHTSA stated in the letter that it was not unsafe to drive the car. Really, a brake issue is not unsafe. I think they are splitting hairs to avoid the costs involved.
Brake pedal went to floor, had car taken to repair shop, was explained that battery acid leaked onto metal Brake lines between master cylinder and ABS component corroding it and causing loss of brakes, this vehicle has only 24666 miles on it always garaged we are original owners, vehicle is being repaired using original Ford parts , I asked repair shop to save these damages parts and yes you are welcome to view them,my wife was able to come to a complete stop without damaging vehicle or personal injury, I wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt if this should happen again to someone

MY 2017 FORD EDGE WITH A 4 CYLINDER 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE AND 81,000 MILES NEEDS A NEW ENGINE, AS PER MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. I RECENTLY HAD COOLANT LEAK INTO THE ENGINE THROUGH THE CYLINDERS. ALL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE WORK, INCLUDING OIL CHANGES, HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN REQUIRED. Daytona beach Automall DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOTALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $5500. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WITH FORD ECOBOOST ENGINES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF IT FOR YEARS. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE SINCE MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THEN IT'S THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT WHEN THEY HAVE KNOWN FOR SOME TIME THAT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE.

I received a letter from ford in May that there was a recall on my model ford fusion. I have called my ford dealer 3 times since May and they keep saying they haven't received the parts for this recall. Am I putting my family at risk by driving my vehicle? How much longer can I expect to wait? On may 5th I had front and back rotors replaced because my brakes were making a strange noise when I pressed on them. Is this part of the recall problem? If it is shouldn't I get a refund for the work done? It cost me $667.85 Thank you for your time.

RECALL IS STILL INCOMPLETE BY THE MIDWAY DEALER IN MIAMI SINCE MAY 2021
I received a Safety Recall Notice number 20S42/NHTSA Recall 20V-469 in May, 2021. Since then I have been unable to have the problem resolved by Ford Motor Company due to as they say "waiting for parts to be delivered to dealership." Is this acceptable? Where's the urgency due to a safety recall? Can you help? I have contacted the local dealership over 5 times to see when this safety recall can be taken care of. Each time the response is the same. They have no parts and they are on backorder. Required to call back at a later date.First recall notice was received September 2020, Latest recall notice May 2021. Recall has not been completed.

After received a recall notice for 20S42 in May 2021 I have contacted local dealerships weekly and they have continued to tell me that they can't get the parts from Ford. I called Ford today and they tell me that the parts that they originally sent out still have a defect so they are going to be issuing new parts and a NEW recall notice at the end of July. It is ridiculous for it to take this long to resolve something that has been deemed a safety issue. Also, the dealerships do not seem to have this information because all they know is "they can't get the parts". The backorder/issue with parts should have been communicated to the dealerships and vehicle owners.

The contact stated that while her son was driving and had approached a stop sign, the brake pedal failed upon depression and collided with another vehicle. The contact was uncertain if any warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The airbags deployed upon impact. The contact nor any other individuals involved in the accident were injured. A police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it had been deemed a total loss. On May 24, 2021 my brakes failed on my 2017 Ford Edge and it was towed to Baxter Ford in Omaha NE (dealership where I purchased the vehicle). Baxter determined this was due to Safety recall 20S42 / NHTSA recall 20V-469. After repair was made on the front flexible brake lines the car was still not performing correctly and Baxter determined the right rear brake line also needed to replaced. This was not covered under the recall or the warranty. I called my ASE certified mechanic, who has been servicing all of my vehicles for over 10 years, to discuss with them. They told me the front and rear brakes lines are separate from each other, but they have been servicing many Ford vehicles with same rear brake line problem and just had 2 Ford F150's the previous week, one with about the same mileage as my vehicle (61,000). I am diligent with servicing my car for maintenance, oil changes and repair. My vehicle had been in to my mechanic on Feb. 18, 2021 at 57,318 miles and all fluids were also checked and everything was fine. On May 24, 2021 at 61,892 miles my 2 front brake lines and one rear brake all lost their fluid at the same time. Baxter Ford filed a request with Ford to have this covered for repair and it was denied. I contacted Ford to request to have this reviewed and was denied. However, I was told just to hold on to my receipt in case the NHTSA files a recall and would be reimbursed at that time. I have also talked to several other Ford vehicle owners who have experienced the same problem and I think this needs to be reviewed. You can reach me at [XXX] or [XXX] if you have questions or need additional information. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle it was discovered that the brake pedal extended to the floor while depressed and the vehicle would not immediately stop. Upon inspection, it was discovered that brake fluid was leaking from the front passenger’s side braking assembly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front passenger’s side brake hose had failed. The hose was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was later informed that the vehicle was included in the NHTSA campaign number 20V469000 (Service Brakes, Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 15,000.

On my 2017 Edge, the brakes "grab" rather than stopping smoothly. This winter, driving on snow covered roads, you couldn't slow up approaching a stop light without the ABS system coming into play. There was no gentle way of stopping the car. Tapping the brakes is like a "panic" stop with a regular vehicle. Ford has replaced the Brake Booster on 2015-2016 models but not 2017. Refer to TSB# SSM-45857.

WHILE DRIVING IN NEW ALBANY, INDIANA ON SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 2021, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT ONCE. MY HUSBAND HAD ME PULL OVER INTO A PARKING SPOT AND HE SAID THERE WAS 0 BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. HE HAS WORKED ON BRAKES AS A MECHANIC HIS WHOLE LIFE (71 YO NOW) AND SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. HE DROVE TO A VERY CLOSE GAS STATION AND GOT A CAN OF BRAKE FLUID AND WHEN WE GOT HOME HE HAD HIS BROTHER LOOK UNDER IT WHILE HE PUMPED THE BRAKES. IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE HOSE WAS RUPTURED. TOOK IT TO HERITAGE FORD IN CORYDON, IN WHICH IS THE CLOSEST FORD DEALIERSHIP TO US. WE FOUND PAPERWORK THAT WAS SENT IN SEPT. 2020 THAT SAID THIS WAS SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 20S42/NHTSA RECALL 20V-469. THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS. WE CALLED THE MAIN FORD CORP. PHONE NUMBER AND THEY TOLD US THE SAME THING. BOTH THE DEALER AND FORD CORP. SAY WE MUST PAY UPFRONT AND MAY BE ABLE TO GET OUR MONEY BACK AND THERE MAY BE A FORM BUT ALL WE GOT WAS A TOLL FREE NUMBER TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN FAILURE TO BRAKE OR STOP, CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH AS IT WAS IMMEDIATE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THEY ONLY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WILL NOT REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE. THEY DID NOT CHECK THE BRAKES FOR FURTHER WEAR OR DAMAGE. THE RECALL NOTICE, INVOICE, AND PROOF OF PAYMENT ARE ATTACHED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NOT RIGHT. FORD DEALER AND MAIN CORPORATE OFFICE HAVE SAID "THEY DON'T KNOW HOW THEY ARE GOING TO HANDLE THIS AND THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT." WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK TO START WITH AND WANT THE OTHER SIDE REPAIRED AT THEIR EXPENSE ALONG WITH BRAKE INSPECTION. THEY ALSO DID NOT OFFER A COURTESY VEHICLE ALTHOUGH WE ASKED REPEATEDLY FOR ONE.

ON MY 2017 FORD EDGE THE EPB MOTOR AND ABS MODULE WENT OUT AT 62,000 MILES RESULTING IN BRAKES DRAGGING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE WITH THE DANGER OF LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE ENGINE IS A 4 CYLINDER 2 LITER ECOBOOST AND HAS BEEN LEAKING COOLANT INTO CYLINDER NUMBER 2 CAUSING COOLANT LEVEL TO DROP AND THE ENGINE MISFIRING EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. FORD HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LOOK OUT FOR THESE PROBLEMS. THE ONLY REMEDY IS ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF AT LEAST $8,000.00. FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS FOR QUITE A LONG TIME BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND WILL NOT HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIR. I BELIEVE MY ENGINE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. I AM NOT A MECHANIC AND DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT APPROX. 61,500 MILES. I THINK FORD SHOULD BEAR THE RESPONSIBILITY OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT AS THE ENGINE HAS FAILED BEFORE 62,000 MILES. A CAR ENGINE SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS OF DOZENS OF SIMILAR CASES OF THE ECOBOOST ENGINES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND BELEIVE IT HAS A DESIGN FLAW.

UPON INSPECTION BY AAA, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS LEAKING. CAR WAS TOWED HOME. ON MONDAY 12/14/2020, I SPOKE WITH FORD WHO TOWED MY 2017 FORD EDGE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. IN APRIL 2020, THE PASSENGER FRONT BRAKE LINE BURST AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT GOING FAST AND NO CARS WERE COMING SO I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BY TURNING RIGHT AND GOING UP ANOTHER SMALL HILL. WE REPLACED THAT LINE OURSELVES. IN AUGUST 2020, THE DRIVER FRONT BRAKE LINE BURST IN A PARKING LOT AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PARK. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP. FORD HAD JUST ISSUED A NOTICE OF RECALL FOR THE FRONT BRAKE LINES SO I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN SHAWNEE, KS. THEY REPLACED THE LINE WITH A TEMPORARY BRAKE LONE AS THEY DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL PART IN. IN OCTOBER 2020, THE REAR PASSENGER BRAKE LINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. AS I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO START THE CAR, THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SURE ENOUGH, I HAD BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER BRAKE LINE. BECAUSE THE RECALL ONLY COVERED THE FRONT BRAKE LINES, WE REPLACED THE RUPTURED LINE AS WELL AS THE ONLY BRAKE LINE THAT HAD NOT RUPTURED. WE FIGURED IT WAS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT ONE BURST, TOO. I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE REAR BRAKE LINE THAT BURST IN OCTOBER. WE KEPT IT AS I PLAN TO TAKE IT WITH ME WHEN THE RECALL PARTS FINALLY COME IN AND DEMAND THEY CHANGE THE REAR BRAKE LINES AT NO COST AS WELL.

COOLANT HAS LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND DESTROYED IT. THE BRAKE FLUID IS COMPLETELY GONE FROM THE BRAKES. BOTH OF THESE HAVE CAUSED A SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED DEATH IN MULTIPLE PEOPL.

I WAS DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AND WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES. THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE, AND I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO GET ANY RESISTANCE, AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY SLOWED TO A STOP, TAKING MUCH LONGER THAN USUAL. MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND WIFE WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME AS WELL. I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE, AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH, ONLY TO SEE BRAKE FLUID LEAKING OUT NEAR THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE. UPON GETTING BACK IN THE VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A WARNING THAT THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE HAS 43,000 MILES ON IT, AND WE HAD DRIVEN 20+ MILES EARLIER WITHOUT ISSUE. WE DID NOT RUN ANYTHING OVER OR HIT ANYTHING. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE REGARDING A BRAKE ISSUE, HOWEVER, ON TOWING TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THIS ISSUE IS NOT RELATED, YET I FEEL THAT IT IS, AND IS TOO COINCIDENTAL TO HAPPEN IN THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE RECALLED PART. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT I MUST HAVE RUN SOMETHING OVER TO CAUSE THE RUPTURE/LEAK, BUT I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

THE VEHICLES LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ONE AND A LARGE POOL OF FLUID WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL. THE NEXT MORNING THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WAS OBVIOUS BRAKE FLUID COVERING THE INSIDE FRONT PASSENGER FENDER WELL. UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID THAT HAD SPRAYED THE FRONT TIRE AND UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE BRAKE LINE WITH NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE NOTED ANYWHERE ELSE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE RUBBER BRAKE LINE GOING TO THE CALIPER HAD RUPTURED.

WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN I REALIZED MY BRAKE HAD DECOMPRESSED AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. GOT HOME AND MY HUSBAND NOTICED I HAD BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER UNDERNEATH MY VEHICLE. MY LEFT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LINE BURST WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DEPRESS ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR AND MAKING THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP (BY THE TIME I MADE IT HOME IT WAS HARDLY STOPPING AT ALL). FORD WOULD NOT USE MY WARRANTY TO REPLACE THEY SAID I HIT SOMETHING. ON (12/20/2019) DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THIS TIME THE FRONT PASSENGER BRAKE LINE SEEMS TO HAVE BURST. (AGAIN WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE THIS TIME AT A STOP LIGHT ON A CITY STREET) AND AGAIN CAUSING THE PEDAL TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MAKING THE CAR EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP. THIS IS A HAZARDOUS SITUATION AND VERY CONCERNING THAT IT HAS OCCURRED TO WITH MY BRAKE LINES TWICE WITHIN THE PAST YEAR, AND ALL WHILE THE CAR WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAD ONLY 45,000 MILES. THIS IS A PROBLEM I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS, FROM WHAT I HAVE GATHERED ONLINE THIS IS AN ISSUE QUITE A FEW OTHERS HAVE FACED.

LIVING IN COLORADO IT GET VERY COLD AT TIMES. A GAP AT THE FRONT EDGE OF THE REAR WHEEL WELL OPENING ALLOWS MELTED SNOW OR ICE TO GET INTO THE AREA AND UNDER THE REAR DOORS. THE LIQUID RE-FREEZES AND SEALS THE DOOR SHUT. IT CAN NOT BE OPENED. PUTTING HEAT LAMPS NEAR THE TWO AREAS (BOTH SIDES) TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO THAW THE ICE AND ALLOW THE DOOR(S) TO OPEN. #2 BRAKES SQUEAK WHEN BACKING UP - REPORTED TO DEALER SEVERAL TIME AND BRAKES WERE CHECKED - WORST AGAIN IN COOL WEATHER. I MAY NOT SEEM LIKE A BIG DEAL TO HAVE THE REAR DOORS FREEZE SHUT BUT IT IS POTENTIALLY VERY SERIOUS IF THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE EXITED IN A HURRY IN AN EMERGENCY.

BRAKES SQUEAK UPON INITIAL DRIVE AND ENGINE HAS A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER AREA DURING START UP.
I WAS DRIVING AND I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES TO TURN THE CORNER, AND THEY MADE AN AIR RELEASING NOISE AND DID NOT SLOW ME DOWN, THEY WENT COMPLETELY OUT! I HAVE BRAND NEW BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. THANK GOD THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE STREET!

AFTER COMPLETING A TURN AND ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON ITS BRAKES AND CUT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. EVERY TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, IT WOULD SLAM VIOLENTLY ON THE BRAKES AGAIN. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING, ALL DRIVER ASSISTANCE WARNING ICONS WERE INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ENGAGED PARK, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED AND IT WAS WORKING FINE. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT AND THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION THAT CAUSED IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DISCONCERTING, AND IN MY OPINION EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THANKFULLY IN EITHER INCIDENT MY TODDLER SON WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE.

NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE POTENTIAL FOR SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL BRACKET MOUNTED ON THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BULKHEAD ON FORD VEHICLES THAT UTILIZE THE CJ5Z-7825557-AB MOULDING. THIS BRACKET FAILED ON MY 2017 FORD EDGE THAT WAS TWO WEEKS OLD AND HAD 500 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. COPIES OF THE EXPERT MECHANICS' REPORT AND THE REPORT FROM THE METALLURGIST, WHO WAS HIRED TO CONDUCT AN ANALYSIS AND THE FAILURE MODE OF THE BRAKE BRACKET REMOVED FROM MY VEHICLE AFTER THE ACCIDENT, ARE ATTACHED TO THIS COMPLAINT. DURING THE METALLURGICAL STUDY A BRAND NEW BRAKE BRACKET WAS ANALYZED AND WAS FOUND TO HAVE SIMILAR CRACKS. WHEN THE BRAKE BRACKET FRACTURED AND FAILED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST THE ABILITY TO DECELERATE THE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. THE KEY-LESS IGNITION WOULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS TO USE BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE SWITCHED OFF THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS TO THE AIR BAGS. MY FULL ATTENTION WAS FOCUSED ON STEERING THE VEHICLE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CROSS MULTIPLE LANES OF TRAFFIC AND GET ONTO THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO REDUCE SPEED. SEE THE ATTACHED POLICE REPORT FOR A SUMMARY OF THE ACCIDENT. A FORD ENGINEERING REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN THE INVESTIGATION SINCE APRIL AND FAILED TO INCLUDE OTHER FORD AND SUPPLIER PERSONNEL IN THE JOINT REVIEW OF THE DEFECTIVE PART OR SUGGESTED ANY ADDITIONAL TESTING. WHEN I STARTED CONTACTING FORD IN OCTOBER, SUDDENLY THEY INSISTED THAT I HAD TO GIVE THEM THE DEFECTIVE PART, SO THEY COULD CONDUCT THEIR OWN TESTING AND REVIEW. I REFUSED TO HAND OVER THE PART AND OFFERED JOINT REVIEWS AND TESTING. FORD REFUSED MY OFFER AND BASICALLY SAID TO TAKE THEM TO COURT. CONTRARY TO WHAT FORD MAY CLAIM, THE DAMAGED VEHICLE AND DEFECTIVE PART ARE STILL OWNED BY ME, BUT BEING HELD BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY SINCE TESTING. *BF *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO OPERATE. ADDITIONALLY, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN MOTION, THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, BRUISES, HEADACHES, BACK ACHES, AND CONTUSIONS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OPENED DOOR ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE NEIGHBOR'S VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
