The back-up camera failed in August of 2024. The camera displayed a blank or distorted image (it changed as put in reverse) on the center display screen when the vehicle was put in reverse AND on occasion displayed a message on the center display screen that the rear-view camera is unavailable. The vehicle is available for inspection. THE REAR-VIEW CAMERA FAILURE REDUCED OR DISTORTED THE DRIVERS VIEW OF WHAT IS BEHIND THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. This specific failure is under a current/new recall: Sep 08,2025 Manufacturer Recall Number 25S89 NHTSA Recall Number 25V572. Yes, this vehicle was inspected AND repaired by Greenway Ford, 9001 E. Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32817 for which I paid them $1,260.02 on 8/28/2024. I do not recall any different warnings, messages or other symptoms other than those already described here within.
2018 ford edge with 2.0 ecoboost engine over heating leaking coolant into cylinders caused engine failure. Lucky this did not catch fire. Ford knows the issue and will not put out a recall. Very dangerous and disgusting business practice.
Panaramic sunroof cracked on inside portion of the vehicle, concerned it might shatter. There is also a crack on the outside portion. It Is over $1000 to replace. Alot of customers have complained about this issue and adding this one to it
The rear lift gate will not open and it operates some time and cannot be open at all and no warning lights come on
I brought in my vehicle for regular service (I.e., oil change) on June 2nd and all was well though i did get my rear brakes done. By June 19th, my check engine light came in and when I brought in my vehicle later that same morning, I was informed coolant had leaked into the engine, now requiring an entire engine replacement which I was told would cost 8500. I have since learned this is a fairly common issue is this model ford edge with eco boost engines and am appalled ford has not issued a recall for this defect.
Recall Rattling, car won't start
Engine light came on. Dealership says that I need a whole new transmission. Car is not slipping and seems to be driving fine. The car has less that 94,000 miles.
I first noticed the sound of water running in the dash each time I started the car. At that time I don’t recall an engine light on. It would sound like bubbles and water running for 10 seconds or so and then it would go away. That lasted a while before I was driving home from work and on two consecutive mornings my car lost acceleration power. This is dangerous in that I have to cross traffic on a busy road and had I tried to go quickly between cars I definitely couldn’t have moved to get out of the way. Each time this happened I pulled over and restarted the car and was able to get home. While waiting for my appointment with ford my car overheated and I got an engine overheat prompt. This was in the middle of summer and I had my two kids in the car. I drove to an auto zone and my dad met me to help add more coolant. At first glance it looked low, but once he opened the cap it bubbled up to appropriate levels. So overall we didn’t add too much coolant. I took it into ford and they told me I had an engine coolant leak into the main block and I had to replace my entire engine out of pocket. My car was at ford for 30 days waiting for replacement and the installation.
I had my 2018 Ford Edge in Gerald Jones Ford Lincoln dealership services department at Augusta, GA on [XXX] (soonest appointment schedule available) due to check engine light turning on that I detected on [XXX] According to their diagnosis, my vehicle is now in need of total engine rebuild/replace. On [XXX], 12 days prior to the check engine light turning on, my vehicle was at the dealership for its regular maintenance (oil change, tire pressure, top off fluid, etc.) that also included a multi-point inspection. There were no engine issues detected on the vehicle 12 days prior. All of a sudden, 12 days later, the vehicle's engine light turned on and now in need of serious repair. This vehicle has less than 40k mileage. I did some research and based on submitted complaints online from other vehicle owners, I became aware that there are known issues to the engine design causing misfires and coolant leaking into the combustion chamber/engine that is specific to my vehicle's make and model. Ford has not issued a recall but many have reported similar if not exact problems I am experiencing. I reached out to the dealership's General Manager on [XXX] regarding my concerns. I also called his number on [XXX] and left a voicemail message. It has been 3 business days and I have not received any email response or callback from the General Manager. At the moment, I have the vehicle in my possession while I am trying to deal with the current situation. fINFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
2024- 2/1 issue with lug nuts. Purchased 4 new tires July 2023 at Walmart... The only time all 4 tires had been removed for new tires. Now 2/1 the lug nuts are swollen and no good. Walmart or Ford Problem?? Now it is my problem to replace. 1 year into the car the transmission was relaced, 2 years in the motor. 5 Star I do not think so.
The car trunk will not latch right and also has problems with latch closing and won't stop even if something is under it. I've had the trunk hit me in the head twice and continued to close and also broke items in the car.
2018 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-413. THE CONSUMER STATED THE REPAIRS WERE MADE ON 12/19/2022.
My 2018 Ford edge coolant was leaking into my engine causing my oil to turn carmal color. My car only has 81000 miles on it. I had just turned my car on and white smoke came out of the exhaust pipes and then my car light came on that the car was overheated.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after a cold start, the coolant temperature too high warning message appeared on the instrument panel while the vehicle was idle. The contact restarted the vehicle but the service message returned. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the mechanic discovered that coolant had leaked into the cylinder head, causing the engine block to crack, resulting in engine failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 64,000.

I received a recall letter in the mail July of 2022, I called several Ford dealerships and they informed me that they had not received the parts for this recall as of yet and I would just have to wait to receive the second letter in the mail. I have waited and waited and waited. This past weekend September 10, 2022, I was driving with my oldest and youngest children in the car when my vehicle went from drive to reverse. I was able to get the vehicle back in drive and continue to drive to our friends house. As i placed the car in park it registered in reverse I could not let go of the brake or I would start moving in reverse this scared me because my vehicle was not registering in park even though it was in park. My vehicle was turned off and still continued to register in reverse then drive then sport mode then in reverse again. I was able to get the vehicle in neutral after some time, but this frightened myself and my children. I called the Ford dealerships and Ford corporate for assistance in the matter and none were helpful as the parts will not be released until December of 2022. I am a single parent, who relies on my vehicle not only to transport myself and my children, but to transport us safely there. I have just gone into remission from having cancer and rely on my vehicle to go to important appointments and all the stress of this has a very real possibility of causing the cancer to come back. Ford has failed me in both categories.
Car rolled out of drivewayacross road and hit tree in neighbors yard which kept it from hitting house. 10,000 in damages to rear of car. While car being repaired heard about recall. Body shop told us about it. Took @ 3 months to get car repaired. No one in car at time of rollaway
The power liftgate has stopped functioning. After changing the alternator because of a voltage regulator error code and replacing the batteries, the power liftgate continues to not work. If the battery is disconnected, when reconnected the power liftgate will work only once. When trying to engage the feature, the liftgate will attempt to unlatch and lift however, the hatch does not open. Fuses have also been changed. the power liftgate feature has to be disabled in order to properly use the hatch. No one has been able to find a correction for this issue with not only the Edge's but its sister model by Lincoln. Many complaints of the liftgate opening and closing on its own. The liftgate not operating properly removes an access point of not only convenience but more importantly safety. If there were an accident, the liftgate not opening properly would not allow for passengers to remove themselves from the vehicle if that were the only exit point in a crash. Outside of the listed inspected components, the only other option is to have the entire electrical system inspected. At the price point this vehicle is offered on the market, many owners would not have the means to pay the dealership or a private repair shop to take apart their entire vehicle.
Floor board got flooded with water! The back seam that is in the roof is faulty. The seam is above opening when lift gate is up ( not the seal around the gate). Front, midde and compartment with the spare was drenched. Water ran down the pillars ( nose was angled up). Ford refused to give any assistance. My concern is all the electrical components can be dangerous and the possibility of mold on the inside. Our 3/36 warranty has expired 4,000 miles ago and out on the time by around 6 mos. We have owned the ford less than a year and it has a clean history report. This is a part that should seal the roof. We have never touched it and until pointed out, wasn't aware of it. Other owners should be aware of this. What other damages can not be seen?
Check engine light on and kept loosing coolant. Code read as misfire in cylinder 2. Changed spark plugs and light still on. On the way to the dealership to to get it looked at, the engine blew. Bought the SUV in April of 2020. Now I am stuck with a vehicle with 20,000 left to pay on and no money to replace the engine. The SUV only has 63,000 miles on it.
The rear hatch, yes it's available for inspection. It closed on me while trying to get items out of the back of the SUV. I opened the hatch from the drivers control panel leaving the car running in park, then tried to get items out of the back. While I was under the hatch it closed on me. I was unable to stop it from coming down on my back/shoulder despite pushing back against it with my arms against the floor. I ultimately had to jump into the back of the vehicle where the hatch closed on my foot and locked. I tried to open it again using the push button on the outside of the hatch, it closed again, I was unable to stop it from closing and locking again while trying to lift it from the outside. It did this four times in a row. The only "unusual" thing was that this was during an ice storm. I have tried to reproduce it several times since with no luck, also there are no freezing temperatures now. No, I have not taken it to a dealership yet but will this week. I do not know if there were warning lights since I was in the back of the vehicle, but it did sound the tone that you hear when the lid is closing by its own power luckily which alerted me that it was closing. This has never happened, it closed with force four times, and I was unable to stop it
My wife was driving home from work when she said she heard what sounded like a gun shot! She was very very alarmed by it!! When she got home found that the panoramic sunroof exploded! I will take it to the dealer tomorrow!
While driving on the freeway in California, the drivers side visor came lose and hit me in the face and blocked my vision and almost caused an accident at 70 mph. The visor remained attached by the visor light wire. this happened on 10/4/21.
The turn signal randomly loses its tick-tock sound even when the turn signal is active. It happened since I own this brand new car.
I HAVE A CRACKED GLASS IN MY PANORAMIC ROOF ON MY 2018 FORD EDGE SPORT. LOCAL FORD DEALER WAS NO HELP IN GETTING FIXED AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT FIX GLASS. INSURANCE COMPANY IS INVOLVED BUT THERE ARE NO SHOPS WANTING TO FIX GLASS CRACKING. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ALONG WITH THE EXPLODING GLASS SUNROOFS ON CERTAIN YEARS OF EDGES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. MY CAR WAS SITTING WITH NOTHING THAT COULD HAVE HIT IT. HAPPENED WITH TEMPERATURES CHANGING.

MY 2018 FORD EDGE KEEPS FILLING UP WITH EXHAUST IN THE CABIN. IT HAS DONE THIS ON MANY OCASION'S IT WILL DO THIS WETHER I AM STATIONARY OR DRIVING . IT'S GETTING WORSE.. I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING LONG DISTANCES AND I SLEEP IN MY CAR ALOT. THE EXHAUST SMELL HAPPENS NOMATTER IF I AM ON THE HIFHWAY OR RESIDENTIAL STREET. IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY FEW DAYS NOW. I DID HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT RANDON FORD IN FLORIDA . THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY COULDN,T FIND A LEAK. THE VERY NEXT DAY I DROVE FROM FLORIDA TO MINNESOTA, THE EXHAUST WAS IN THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES ON THE TRIP

THE FORD SYNC SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING I CAN NOT CHARGE MY PHONE THE RADIO DOESN'T PLAY NOR DOES THE BACK UP CAMERA WORK ON THE VEHICLE
THE MOONROOF IN THE FORD EDGE WILL EXPLODE WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 65MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 6 MONTHS AND MY ROOF EXPLODED ON ME ON THE WAY HOME AND OF COURSE IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. I CAN'T IMAGINE IF THERE WAS KIDS IN THE CAR AND THE MOONROOF WAS OPEN. I'M NOT THE FIRST PERSON THIS HAS HAPPEN TOO. THIS ROOF NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

MY CAR WILL RANDOMLY SHUT DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED DRIVING IN THE CITY I LIVE IN AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 75 MPH. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS STARTED IN NOVEMBER 2018 AND STILL HAPPENS. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT BY THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD HAS SENT FIELD SERVICE ENGINEERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A TROUBLE CODE THAT IS HAPPENING. IT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY 2 DIFFERENT ENGINEERS DUE TO THE BBB COMPLAINT THAT WAS FILED. THE CAR IS A LEMON ACCORDING TO TEXAS LEMON LAW BUT FORD WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM SINCE THEY CANNOT FORCE AND INTERMITTENT PROBLEM TO PRESENT ITSELF. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE CAR HAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AS WELL. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THERE IS NOTHING THAT COMES UP, THE DASH JUST GOES BLANK AND THE ENGINE STOPS.

THE HATCHBACK SLAMS. I'VE RETURNED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIME AND TOLD IT'S NORMAL.
ON JULY 25TH 2019 I WAS LEAVING I40/I85WHEN I HEARD THE LOUDEST EXPLOSION. ON INSPECTION MY BACK, DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER WIDOW HAD BLOWN OUT. THE POLICE CM AND CHECKED MY CAR AND NO PROJECTILE WAS FOUND. MY PAINTWORK ON THAT DOOR IS ALL DAMAGED WHERE THE GLASS FLEW OUT. LUCKILY NOBODY WAS IN THAT SEAT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AS ITS UNDER WARRANTY AND HE AGREED WITH ME AND SAID HE HAD SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. FORD WILL NOT ENTERTAIN THAT THE GLASS WAS FAULTY AND HAVE SAID NO TO MY REPAIR. IF YOU POST PROBLEMS IN THE FORD FACEBOOK PAGE THEY CONSTANTLY DELET THEM TO HIDE ANY ISSUES FROM OTHERS. THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHERS ON FORUMS WITH THIS CAR AND OTHERS FROM FORD 'S WITH FACTORY TINTED GLASS HAVING BLOW OUT ISSUES. IF THE THIS HAD HAPPENED IN MY DOOR I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. THIS NEED LOOKING INTO.

ON JULY 12, 2019 I WAS DRIVING MY 2018 FORD EDGE THAT I PURCHASED ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2018, 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODED. THERE WERE THREE ADULTS IN THE CAR AND FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT WERE SHOWERED WITH PIECES AND SHARDS OF GLASS, ESPECIALLY THE PASSENGER IN THE BACK SEAT. THROUGH CONVERSATIONS WHILE RECALLING THE INCIDENT AMONGST THE THREE OF US, THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND THEN IT SHATTERED. TO OUR BEST KNOWLEDGE, NOTHING HIT THE SUNROOF. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED AS THERE WAS SO MUCH GLASS THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE FIRST DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT DUE TO SCRATCH ON SUNROOF AND THE AIR CONDITIONER BEING ON, THIS CAUSED CABIN PRESSURE AND ULTIMATELY THE EXPLOSION OF THE SUNROOF. WE DID HAVE IT TOWED TO OUR DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY SOMETHING HIT IT TO MAKE IT SHATTER. BOTH DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY SO I DID TURN IT IN TO MY INSURANCE. I FIND IT IRONIC THAT THEY HAD DIFFERING CONCLUSIONS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS HAS BEEN AN UNFORTUNATE LEARNING LESSON. AS OF NOW, I DO NOT HAVE MY VEHICLE BACK, 16 DAYS LATER. I HAVE EXPRESSED MY DISAPPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALERSHIP AND WILL ALSO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD, BUT KNOW NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. I APPRECIATE THAT I AM ABLE TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT AND HOPE THAT ANY OTHERS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO WILL DO THEIR RESEARCH AND KNOW THAT IN ORDER FOR A CHANGE, A REPORT TO YOU NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

WHILE TRAVELLING IN THE LEFT LANE, OF A THREE LANE HIGHWAY, NEXT TO A SEMI-TRACTOR TRAILER, THE TRUCK CHANGED LANES INTO MY LANE. I WAS FULLY IN THE LANE WHEN HE SIGNALED A CHANGE AND BEGAN TO MOVE OVER. I ACTIVATED THE VEHICLE HORN AND BRAKED HARD BUT, IT WAS APPARENT THAT HE NEVER HEARD THE HORN AS THE OPERATOR CONTINUED INTO MY LANE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR. (SAME SCENARIO) (THE VEHICLE HORN IS ABOUT AS LOUD AS A 1965 VW BEETLE.) I BROUGHT THIS FORD EDGE TO SUNNY SIDE MOTORS, HOLDEN, MA. I WAS INFORMED, AND PROVIDED A FORD COMPUTER PRINTOUT THAT THIS THAT THIS YEAR 2018 EDGE, HAD ONE OF THE TWO HORNS DELETED BY THE MANUFACTURER. INSTEAD OF THE TWO, HI/LO HORNS PROVIDED ON THIS AND ALL OTHER VEHICLES FOR MANY MANY YEARS, MY 2018 EDGE HAS ONLY ONE HORN. THIIS HORN IS ABSOLUTELY ANEMIC AND CAN NOT BE HEARD IN TRAFFIC AND I BELIEVE THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE, SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY SKILLED EMERGENCY EVASIVE MANEUVERS, THERE SURELY COULD HAVE HAD DISASTROUS RESULTS. ( I HAVE HAD MANY YEARS TRAINING IN EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATION.) THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD!!!!!
Mileage: 7,500
THE PASSENGER DOOR OPENED UP AND THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I LET HERTZ KNOW THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THERE ISN'T BUT I CLEARLY SEE THAT THERE IS
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 70MPH THE PANORAMIC MOON ROOF SUDDENLY SHATTERED. PIECES OF GLASS ENTERED THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT THROUGHOUT THE FRONT AND BACK SEATS.
