Subject: Complaint Regarding Ford Safety Recall 25S28 – Unresolved APIM Module Issue Vehicle Information: Year/Model: 2021 Ford Edge Recall: Ford Safety Recall 25S28 Defect: Rear-view camera and APIM module software malfunction. Summary of Issue: June 2025: Attempted recall repair; dealer stated recall was on hold. August 2025: Received another recall notice but delayed repair since no issues were present. November 2025: Navigation system, CarPlay, and infotainment screen began shutting off. Dealer confirmed these functions are controlled by the APIM module covered under Recall 25S28. December 2025: Vehicle at dealer for ~2 weeks. Dealer attempted software update, then said Ford corporate approved replacing the telecommunications chip on Dec 12. On Dec 16, dealer informed me Ford put the recall on hold again and instructed me to pick up the car without the fix. Current Status: Vehicle still has defective APIM module affecting rear-view camera, Bluetooth, GPS, and infotainment system. Ford corporate states there is no timeline for resolution. Safety concern: Rear-view camera may fail, and infotainment system shuts off while driving, impacting visibility and driver awareness. Requested Action: Please investigate Ford’s repeated delays and lack of remedy for Recall 25S28. Ensure timely resolution and enforce compliance with recall obligations.
I am a second time owner of Ford cars, it's really concerning to me that for one, they have the reputation of their transmissions being faulty, lastly that this being my second vehicle that I have purchased from them that's having transmission issues. Transmission issues that are identical to each other. The transmission keeps slipping and I've only owned the car going on two years. There should be no reason that I would have to replace it so soon. Just like it was in my 2005 ford Taurus. This is an issue that needs immediate attention and it's a rip off because coming up with 9 thousand dollars to spend to repair something that you can just get a new car with that as a deposit. I am very frustrated with Ford and it really needs to be looked at. From looking at it, many people have had this issue with this particular car and need you to please act on this. Ford can not continue to make faulty transmission in their cars and expect people to pay these high prices for repair. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND HELP US THE CONSUMER AND SPENDING OUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON FAULTY PRODUCRTS.
The vehicle was sluggish to reverse as I left my office but after I left it was operating normally to gas station about 3 miles away. I stopped at gas station to fuel up. After, I started car and it would not go back in reverse. When i shifted from park back to reverse, it moved maybe 5". Was sputtering and clanking. I drove forward maybe 2', while sputtering, jerking, and clanking. I managed to make it home (<3 miles) and on shifting it wanted to stall, and on braking it was sputtering, jerking, and clanking with downshifting. At home, when I put it in reverse, i got an error message "Gear select will engage at low speeds", and as I tried to reverse, the car went FORWARD almost causing me to crash into my house. After several attempts to back up and begin to go out of my drive, it was sputtering and jerking too much so I decided to try to reverse back to the carport, and it would not move. It sits where it stopped.
Reverse camera goes black with movement in the picture. Can not see to back up for a week or two at a time then it works for a week. Asked Ford dealership about an update for software and they require $175 to diagnose the camera then pay to have he said possibly a new camera installed. It does not alert to people or objects behind vehicle during the time the camera goes out.
I'm am the original owner of my 2021 Edge ST and have kept up with all my scheduled maintenance. Earlier this year, I had my transmission fluid replaced per the 40k maintenance schedule. Since then (and even a little prior to) I can feel the transmission, for lack of a better term, "jutting" and making a very slight "whine" when I've decelerated but then gone to reapply acceleration. It mainly seems to be a problem with second gear. I have also had the fuel neck replaced twice now under warranty. The first time was shortly after purchasing the vehicle, it kept tripping the gas pump at every station and I would have to manually trickle the gas in. Then again a year or two ago it started tripping again and they replaced it. I've also had various rattling noises that start out of no where and persist. My moon roof even came from the factory missing pieces that had to get installed only a month after I had the vehicle. The roof is starting to rattle again this year. I have identified that by rolling the sun shade open and closed and finding with the shade opened and rolled up, the rattling stops.
In April of 2025 I got my normal oil change and I mentioned to the technician that the car seems to be jerking more than usual when I start trying to accelerate. They mentioned that the car needed the coolant flushed out and that could be contributing to the issue. I had it done in June. It was not causing the issue but the jerking got worse. So this month, August 2025, I took the care to Aamco Transmissions and Total Car Care. They did a full systems and diagnostic courtesy check and determined that I need my transmission replaced or rebuilt which is at least $7k. This is a 2021 Ford Edge. I am the only owner. I have 71k miles on the car and never thought that I would have to fully replace a transmission in 4 years.
Front crash assistance unavailable. Camera not working. No auto dimming available either.
The Ford Dealership has had my vehicle since May 5, 2025 and since then, has been unable to fix Safety Recall 25S28 (APIM Module Reprogramming due to distorted screen). On June 30, 3025, the dealership informed me that Ford has put a stop hold on the recall, with no estimate as to when or whether my vehicle will ever be repaired. On June 19, 2025, I filed a complaint with Ford corporate customer service hotline, to no avail. I have heard nothing back from the corporate Ford customer service team. Truly alarming and frustrating.
Hi When engaged in Apple Play or Ford Car Play and an incoming call comes in the volume is like 20 and it scares the crap out of us. It's not the phone, as it happens with any phone we plug into the USB or use wirelessly vis bluetooth. Dealer says Fiord is aware but seems to me they are taking too long to fix. I can't help thinking people are going to get into accidents from becoming scared. You can manually turn the volume down while it's ringing but at that time it is too late. It havens every time we get a call since we have owned the car.
There was an update to address a recall issue for the rear camera in May 2022, and ever since it was done the front camera has been malfunctioning. This affects parking situations and I am uncertain if it is causing any issues with other safety features. Ford gave me several options to try and “restart” the system but none have worked. It has been months and they have not provided an update to fix this camera and no one at a dealership knows anything about it or how to fix.
Vehicle was traveling on a rural road when driver attempted to brake. Driver witnessed flames from under their vehicle when applying brakes. Driver had to stop the vehicle by laying it in a ditch and escaping the engulfed car. Post accident it was noted and shown a significant amount of brake fluid on the ground from the incident. Bystanders say that the vehicle was blowing flames out from under neath while attempting to stop.
2021 Ford Edge ST 4500 miles After the 5/13 back-up camera system update, which I my car did not have a problem with. Expected functionality - Under 6 mph, when pressing the "front camera button" it is supposed to show the camera. Actual functionality after 5/13 system update - Scenario 1 - Camera works from cold start, putting car in drive, and pressing the camera. After moving above 6mph, and then going back under 6mph, the front button camera no longer works and/or works intermittently and unexpectedly stops working. Scenario 2 - After going above 6mph, then only way to get the camera to work is to put the car in reverse, wait for the rear camera to show, then put back into drive and hit "front camera button". This will result in the camera showing for 1-3 seconds before intermittently/randomly stopping which can result in me crashing into something. *When pressing the camera a second time "180 degree split view "no longer works. Scenario 3 - After going above 6mph, then only way to get the camera to work is to put the car in reverse, wait for the rear camera to show, select zoom "+" button, then put back into drive and hit "front camera button". This will result in the camera showing for 1-3 seconds before intermittently/randomly stopping which can result in me crashing into something. *When pressing the camera a second time "180 degree split view "no longer works. https://youtu.be/gyRpgPLvsfc Ford Sync Case Number - Camera - [XXX] CRM:0745245 Ford Dealership - Customer [XXX]4; Workorder [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I do not believe that the horn is sufficiently loud enough to perform it's intended purpose. Especially with the ambient noise of traveling at highway speeds.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Edge. The contact stated while his wife was driving the vehicle at 35 MPH, a vehicle abruptly stopped in front of her which caused her to rear-end the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact nor the other driver were injured in the accident. A police report was filed.
