The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15 MPH and making a right turn, the power steering malfunctioned, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. Additionally, on several occasions, the vehicle failed to immediately start. The contact replaced the ignition switch, battery, starter, and alternator; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 150,000.

My power steering keeps going in and out while I am driving. If I turn off the car and then turn it back on it comes back on but it is happening very frequently and will go out again as soon as I start driving. I was told that there is a recall for this and want more information. It is not safe.

My power steering went out after I got my car. My starter doesn’t work I have to use a button on my keys to always start my car the key will not start my car. It’s very hard to turn my car and it went out while I was making a turn and myself siblings and boyfriend almost got hit by an oncoming car. The car has not been inspected, I can have my car looked at most likely upon request unless I have work but I can come in the next available day. There were no messages or warnings to my car or any symptoms before they went out.

I have researched ford escape recalls. Each recall I have seen such as epas retention guide the bearing and fuel system is exactly what's wrong with my vehicle now. However when I look up the recall by Vin number I am only shown that I have a recall for the fuel system problem

1.2010 Ford Escape Electronic Throttle Body issue investigated by the NHTSA. 2. Hesitations, surges, stalls. Ford has issued a CSP 13N03 with time and mileage limits. This is a safety issue effecting many Ford vehicles and the symptoms may not surface until beyond the CSP 13N03 time limits imposed by Ford, as in my case. These electronic throttle body hesitations, surges and stalls are very dangerous and result in compromised safety for the driver, their passengers and others on the road. I have come very close to a collision on two separate occasions because of this issue. The NHTSA should force Ford to reclassify this issue as a recall with no time nor mileage limits or lift the current program time and mileage limits for people like me who are beyond the time limit who have just recently developed this problem. This is a mechanical defect as well as a safety issue. 3. Problem confirmed by Ford dealership. 4. Dash warnings - check engine light and wrench lights illuminated. In my case, these have gone on and off, vehicle demonstrates hesitations, surges, stalls, then resets itself and the vehicle functions normally. This has happened twice over the last few months. Just recently, the warning lights have stayed illuminated and the symptoms are now constant.

FIRST I NOTICE THE CAR JUST DROP GEARS AND NEARLY STOP ON THE OFF RAMP OF THE HIGHWAY. SECOND TIME I TRIED TO REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO THE GARAGE. FORD TOLD ME IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. FORD DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $ 5000 FOR THE JOB. I WINDED UP GOING TO A LEE MYLES THAT CHARGE COST TO $ 4000 FOR THE REPAIRS IT HAD DONE. NOW FEW MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE IS SHAKING UPON START UP AND IDILING. WHENEVER I DRIVE THE CAR IT FEELS LIKE ITS JERKS SLIGHTLY WHEN GOING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. CHANGED OUT THE AIR FILTER, REBUILT TRANSMISSION AND STILL HAVING PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEMS WITH THIS 2010 FORD ESCAPE.

@12:56PM ON 2/11/2021, MY CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER, ACCELERATION, LIGHTS, PEDAL/GAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE. THE TIME REMAINED ON. IT WAS 19* F WITH NO PRECIPITATION ON DRY/PARTLY SNOWY PAVEMENT ON HIGHWAY US31 JUST S OF THE NORTH MUSKEGON/BUSINESS 31 BYPASS. I WAS GOING ABOUT 75 MPH AND ADJUSTED THE CRUISE CONTROL TO SLOW FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE SHORTLY BEFORE THE SHUTOFF. IT IS NOT CLEAR IF THAT IS RELATED, BECAUSE THE TIMING WAS NOT IMMEDIATE. I HAD NOT CHANGED LANES IN MORE THAN A MILE, ALTHOUGH THE ROAD DOES TWIST SLIGHTLY IN THAT LOCATION. I HAD ON AUTOMATIC LIGHTS, DEFROST AND REAR DEFROST, BLUETOOTH AUDIO, AND CRUISE CONTROL. MY TANK WAS JUST BELOW 1/2 FULL OF GAS AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BUT IS NOT STORED IN A GARAGE OVERNIGHT. I COASTED TO AN EMERGENCY LANE ON THE PASSING LANE, TURNED THE KEY OFF (OTHER THAN THE TIME, AUDIO, AND BRAKES, NOTHING ELSE WOULD RESPOND.) I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 60 SECONDS, IT STARTED WITHOUT PROBLEM, AND I COULD CONTINUE TO MY VACCINE APPOINTMENT WITH NO DISCERNIBLE SIGNS OF ANY OTHER ISSUE OR ERROR. IT WAS TERRIFYING.

THIS VECHICAL IS BEING FINANCED THROUGH CENTRAL AUTO SALES OF HOT SPRINGS, ARKANSAS. THIS VECHICAL HAS SERIOUS ISSUES, I CONTACTED CENTRAL AUTO ABOUT MY CAR NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IT KEPT STALLING ON FREEWAY THAT I WAS BARELY MISSED BY A DIESAL TRUCK HITTING ME. I TOLD THEM IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL POWER TRAIN THAT'S KEEP STALLING. THEY PICKED THE CAR UP KEPT IT FOR 2DAYS DIDN'T FIX IT BUT WANTED TO CHARGE ME $344 FOR REPAIRS THAT WASN'T DONE. GOT CAR BACK IN SAME POSITION AND IT STALLED AGAIN ON ME IN MIDDLE OF FREEWAY ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. I HAD TO BUY MY PART AND HAD SOMEONE TO PUT THE THROTTLE BODY ON. NOW IT'S THE STEERING WHEEL IT WON'T TURN PROPERLY IT'S SO HARD TO TURN LIKE IT'S LOCK CAUSE IT MAKE A CLICKING SOUND BEFORE IT COMPLETELY LOCK. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THEY SENT ME A TEXT TOLD ME TO DO WHATEVER I WANT. THIS VECHICAL IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE. BUT THEY WANT $210 CAR NOTE PAYMENT FOR A NON FUNCTIONING CAR. I ASKED COULD I TRADE IT BACK IN TO THEM GOT NO REPLY ONLY ABOUT A CAR PAYMENT WHICH I NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT. AND IT ALSO RAINS IN THE CAR YOU CAN HERE THE WATER IN THE DOORS AND THE FLOOR BE SOAKED.

WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE ELECTRICAL STEERING ASSIST DISENGAGED FOR A FEW SECONDS AND A BEEPING ALARM SOUNDED THREE TIMES. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON ANOTHER OCCASION. AFTER THE SECOND TIME I GOT THE CAR BACK HOME AND PARKED IT UNTIL I COULD DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. FOUND THE SAME HAPPENINGS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AND MY ESCAPE WAS ONE OF THE RECALL VINS. IN 2014, I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID WHATEVER WAS REQUIRED AT THAT TIME. I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE BEFORE THE RECALL, AND THEY APPARENTLY DID THE REPLACEMENT TO KEEP THE ELECTRICAL ASSIST FROM DISENGAGING. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. MY ESCAPE IS AT 191,000 MILES CURRENTLY. FORD SERVICE SAYS THEY CANNOT FIX IT WITHOUT ME COVERING THE COST, AND IF ANOTHER RECALL IS ISSUED, FORD MAY REIMBURSE ME. I BELIEVE ANOTHER RECALL SHOULD BE REQUIRED AS VEHICLES TODAY ARE DRIVEN MORE MILES THAT 150K. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN THE STEERING ASSIST DISENGAGES AS NO POWER STEERING IS AVAILABLE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN THE ASSIST GOES OUT. FORTUNATELY, I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AS THE STEERING ASSIST REENGAGED WHILE STILL IN MY TURN. IF IT HAD NOT REENGAGED AT THAT EXACT TIME, NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WOULD HAVE HIT THE VEHICLE IN THE OTHER LANE. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY AT THE TIME IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THE SECOND TIME IT OCCURRED I WAS TURNING INTO SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY.

I SLOWLY DROVE THE CAR TO KILGORE, TEXAS TOOK THE CARE TO AUTOMOTIVE SUPER CENTER 1505 US HWY 259 NORTH BUSINESS KILGORE, TX 75663. CHANDLER GORDY SAID HE WOULD CHECK IT OUT AND CALL ME. CHANDLER CALLED ME AND GAVE ME THE REPORT (SEE ATTACHED REPORT). CHANDLER STATED THAT TO FIX THAT UNIT IT COST OVER $2,000.00 IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE I COULDN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT DONE. I ASKED HIM WHAT HE COULD DO SO THAT WE COULD GET BACK HOME HE SAID HE WOULD TRY AND RESET THE SENSOR. CHANDLER RESET IT & WE HAD TO BE CAREFUL BECAUSE IT MIGHT GO OUT AGAIN AND TO BE VERY CAREFUL. 10/23/2020 SLOWLY DROVE HOMETHE NEXT DAY 10/26/2020 I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AT CARTECH AUTOMOTIVE HE CHECKED IT OUT CALLED ME AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR AND TO COME GET THE CAR AND TAKE IT TO FORD SO THAT THEY CAN FIX IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO LOGANVILLE FORD 3460 HIGHWAY 78 LOGANVILLE GA 30052 770-554-9994. I SPOKE WITH BRIAN AND UPON HIS EXAMINATION OF THE VIN# THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY CAR AND THAT IF I WANTED THE CAR CHECKED OUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $235.00 TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT.I THEN WENT AND CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER 866-436-7332 AND SPOKE WITH DANA WHO STATED THAT ON AUGUST 4, 2014 THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE POWER-STEERING SENSOR/MODULE IT WAS RESET NOT REPLACED. I TOLD DANA THAT THIS IS A RECALL AND THE UNIT WAS TO BE REPLACED NOT RESET & DANA SAID THAT THEY HAVE THE BEST HIGH TECH PROGRAMMING SYSTEMS. IT WAS RESET NOT REPLACED, DANA SAID YES & THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO FOR ME. I THEN CALLED 888-327-4236 AND SPOKE WITH LAVENIA DID MY REPORT. FORD IS UNWILLING TO REPLACE THE RECALL UNIT 14S05/NHTSA RECALL 14V-284.

ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITH 130K+ ON THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BACK IN 2014 BUT BECAUSE IT WASN'T "BROKEN" IN 2014 THEY CLOSED THE RECALL. NOW IN 2020, IT IS GIVING FAULT CODES AND IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WASN'T BROKEN 6 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY REALIZED THE MECHANICS OF THE SYSTEM WERE FAULTY IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING BACKED OUT OF A DRIVEWAY WHEN IT LOST POWER STEERING ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.

I TOOK IT TO MY AUTO MECHANIC AT SAM'S AUTO IN WATERFORD, WHO THOUGHT HE FIXED IT NO PROBLEM, BUT I DROVE IT OFF HIS LOT, AND ITS STILL DOING IT. THAT WAS AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS UNTIL NOW. IT SHUTS DOWN IN ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS, HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SURFACE ROAD SPEEDS, WHILE MOVING. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE LOCAL DEALER - FOWLER FORD - IS NOT FOLLOWING FORD'S DIRECTIVE AND IS CHARGING ME FOR A DIAGNOSTIC WHEN FORD SAYS NOT TO. THE 2010 FORD ESCAPE IS A DEATH TRAP. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT HAS HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR LESS SERIOUS ISSUES, BUT THE ONE ISSUE THAT CAN GET SOMEONE KILLED DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A RECALL? SHORTLY AFTER SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS FLICKERED. ALSO, ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SAFELY DRIVEN. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE ANTI-THEFT SIGNAL KEEPS COMING ON IN MY CAR. WHEN I AM MOVING AND NOT MOVING ALL THE WARNING IN MY CAR COMES ON. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND PARKED AT A GAS STATION. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, BUT IT WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I FINALLY GOT IT TO START AND DROVE QUICKLY TO WORK. I TOOK THE CAR THAT AFTERNOON TO FORD SERVICE. THEY SAID IT WAS MY IGNITION, SO THEY CHANGED THE PART AND CHARGED ME OVER $320. WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD AGAIN THAT MORNING. NOW THEY TELL ME THE BOARD THAT HAD THE ELECTRICAL PARTS IS CORRODED, SO THEY CHANGED THAT AND CHARGED OVER $720. THE NEXT DAY AFTER I TOOK THE CAR HOME IT HAPPENED FOR A QUICK MOMENT, BUT THEN IT STOPPED. TODAY 10/18/17 WHICH IS 2 DAYS AFTER I PICKED MY CAR UP FROM FORD SERVICE I LET MY CAR WARM UP IN THE MORNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINS, BUT WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL AND THE ANTI-THEFT WARNING LIGHT KEPT BLINKING EACH TIME. SO I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. CAR DIED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE IN TRAFFIC ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. IT'S WILL START RUNNING RUFF AND THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH. STOP THE CAR, PUT IT PARK AND SHUT IT OFF FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, THEN CRANK IT BACK UP, THE WRENCH LIGHT IS OFF AND IT IS RUNNING FINE. THE LAST TIME IT DID IT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO TIRE KINDLE SO THEY COULD READ THE CODE AS THE FORD DEALER WAS CLOSED. CODE WAS THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR WAS STUCK WIDE OPEN. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED ABOUT 10,000 BACK WITH MY WIFE. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 45,000 MILES. SHE TOOK IT.TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AS THERE HAVE BEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE RESOLVED AS IT IS LIFE THREATENING BY DOING THIS HEAVY TRAFFIC SITUATIONS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V4280000 (STEERING), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED NO FAILURES BEFORE THE RECALL. SINCE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.

CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY REGARDING A USED 2010 FORD ESCAPE THAT WE BOUGHT (FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP) YESTERDAY. I RESEARCHED THE VEHICLE & LEARNED THAT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY" (ETB) IN THIS VEHICLE. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE FORD CSR THAT THERE A "REDESIGNED" ETB PART THAT IS USED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL PART THAT IS PRONE TO FAIL SUDDENLY. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE ETB WHICH ACCORDING TO FORD IS PRONE TO FAIL COULD RESULT IN SUDDEN STALLING AND/OR REDUCED POWER TO THE CAR.... WHICH COULD PLACE THE DRIVE (MY 16YO SON, NEW DRIVER) IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND/OR LIFE THREATENING SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. THE FORD CSR ACKNOWLEDGED THAT, AND EVEN AFTER HE REPORTEDLY DISCUSSED MY CONCERN WITH HIS "MANAGER", INFORMED ME THAT FORD WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE PART "...AFTER IT FAILS". THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME AS A CONSUMER & FATHER OF MY SON WHO WILL BE DRIVING THIS CAR. APPARENTLY, FORD IS WILLING TO "GAMBLE" ON MY SON'S (AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD) SAFETY & HEALTH. I CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THE COST OF REPLACING THE (PRONE TO FAULT) ECB WITH THE "REDESIGNED" ETB WAS $386 (=$210 LABOR + $176 PART). IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE TO ME THAT FORD WILL NOT, UPON REQUEST OF A FORD ESCAPE OWNER, REPLACE AT FORD'S COST FORD'S ACKNOWLEDGED PRONE-TO-FAIL ETB WHICH CAN POTENTIALLY PUT MY SON'S LIFE AT RISK. THIS FAR EXCEEDS ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE... APPARENTLY FORD IS WILLING TO TAKE A "KNOWN RISK & GAMBLE" ON THE HEALTH & SAFETY OF THOSE WHO PURCHASE/DRIVE OF THEIR VEHICLES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VENT CONTROLS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING FUNCTION. YEARS BEFORE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE AND THE IC MODULE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND BLOWER MOTOR FAILED. THE CONTACT LATER EXPERIENCED AN EXTREMELY STRONG VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE DEALER REPLACED THE PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,411.

FROM THE TIME WE FIRST BOUGHT THE ESCAPE (NEW) THE BATTERY LIGHT HAS CAME ON AT RANDOM TIMES. WE HAVE TAKEN IN AND DEALER SAID THERE IS NOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. WHEN WE DRIVE THE CAR AND HAVE THE HEAT OR AIR ON IT WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF AND THEN A MINUTE LATER COME BACK ON FULL BLAST. I ALSO HAVE RUST UNDER WHEEL WELLS THAT FORD SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER BECAUSE IT DID NOT PREFERATE THE BODY BUT IS CLEARLY CREEPING UP THE UOUSIDE OF THE REAR QUARTER PANEL AS WELL. I HAVE SEEN THIS ON MANY OF THE SAME YEAR ESCAPES. WHEN I PUSHED FOR RESULTS THEY OPENED AN INVESTIGATION THEN CAME BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD SPLIT THE COST WITH ME WHICH I BELIEVE SHOULD BE FULLY COVERED SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 5 YEAR UNLIMITED MILEAGE BODY COVERAGE. ALSO, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE LAST WEEK AND IT RANDOMLY STALLED ON HER CAUSING HER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. SAFETY IS BECOMING A CONCERN. NOT PLEASED WITH RESULTS GIVEN.

I HAD TURNED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS TRAVELING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN MY CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ON A BIT OF A DOWNWARD SLOPE AND WAS ABLE TO STEER THE "DEAD" CAR OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A MINUTE. I TURNED ON THE CAR AND IT STARTED AGAIN. I AM CONCERNED AS I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING AND IF MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPS LIKE THAT AGAIN, THERE COULD BE DIRE CONSEQUENCES. THE EARLIEST A DEALER CAN LOOK AT MY CAR IS JANUARY 8TH. MY LOCAL DEALER - JANUARY 14TH. TODAY IS DECEMBER 28TH. AFTER READING SOME OF THESE REPORTS, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. MEANWHILE, I NEED TO RENT A CAR, UNTIL SOMEONE AT A FORD DEALER IS ABLE TO LOOK AT IT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAD BEEN DRIVING, THEN MADE A BRIEF STOP. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT IN "DRIVE" TO BEGIN DRIVING, MY POWER STEERING WAS OUT. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY ABOUT 1.5 MILES AWAY. I MANAGED TO GET HOME BUT HAD THE CAR TOWED TO NORTHGATE FORD IN CINCINNATI, OH THE NEXT MORNING. AFTER 3 DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED TO SAY THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I KNOW THAT OTHER FORD ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT, BUT CHECKED MY VIN AND MINE WAS NOT INVOLVED......YET! TWO MONTHS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR CONTINUING DIFFICULTY WITH STARTING (NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN FOR ABOUT 10 TURNS OF THE KEY, THEN IMMEDIATELY WOULD START) AND INABILITY TO UNLOCK/LOCK CAR WITH FOB DESPITE CHANGING BATTERY. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, CYLINDER MODULE AND BOLT. SUDDENLY THE CAR BOTH STARTED RIGHT AWAY AND THE REMOTE KEY FOB WORKED AS WELL.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000.

THEY HAD TO REPLACE BOTH BOARDS AND REROUTE THE AC LINE SO IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I PAID $954.06 FOR POOR DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION.

I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY MORNING BECAUSE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN.

AFTER A FEW MORE MINUTES, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, AND NEW MESSAGE ALTERNATED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT. THEN IT JUST AS SUDDENLY, WENT BACK TO NORMAL. NOW THE SAME THING REPEATS REPEATS ON AND OFF ALMOST EVERY 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING OR SO. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ON INTERNET I FIND THIS PROBLEM IS SO COMMON THERE IS A COMPANY ADVERTISING MAIL ORDER REPAIRS FOR $199.00 PROBLEM IS COLD SOLDER JOINTS ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.

" YOUR CAR IS A SALVAGED TITLE" WE TOOK THE CAR HOME VIA TOW TRUCK AND WE HAD A MECHANIC TAKE A LOOK AT THE THROTTLE BODY AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS NEVER REPLACED! THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS. FINALLY THEY CALLED ME & TOLD ME TO COME PICK UP THE CAR. THE SERVICE DEPT. STATED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG W/ THE CAR, BUT THEY KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG W/ IT. THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT TIL THE PROBLEM GOT WORST. THEY SENT ME HOME W/ A CAR THAT CUTS OFF CONSTANTLY, THEY DON'T CARE THAT I NEED TO DRIVE A DEPENDABLE CAR. I'M AN EDUCATOR/STATE EMPLOYEE THAT DOESN'T HAVE ALL THIS MONEY TO KEEP PUTTING MY CAR INTO THE SHOP & MISSING DAYS FROM WORK. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS COMING TO A STOP DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN FEB 2014. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO STOP WHEN I NOTICED THE RED BATTERY & WRENCH LIGHT COME ON. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE & THE ENGINE WAS OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO LUCK. THE DASH LIGHTS & RADIO WOULD WORK BUT IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF TRAFFIC. WHILE WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I TRIED AGAIN & IT STARTED (APPROXIMATELY AFTER 15 MIN). I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER. THEY "SUPPOSEDLY" FIXED IT UNDER A RECALL. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN (OCT 2014) TO ME WHILE COMING TO A STOP DURING RUSH HOUR. AGAIN THE LIGHTS TURNED RED AND THE ENGINE DIED. I HAD JUST TURNED LEFT UNDER AN UNDERPAS AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE UNDER AN OVERPASS I REMEMBER THINKING "WOW. THIS IS APOWERFUL ENGINE." NOW, THE REAR BLINKER DOESN'T WORK AND YOU CAN'T REPLACE IT DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU CAN'T GET THE LIFTGATE TO OPEN IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE REAR TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. SO, WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, VEHICLES BEHIND YOU DON'T KNOW YOU ARE TURNING AND ALMOST HIT YOU (SAFETY HAZARD). THE SYMPTOMS THAT I EXPERIENCED WERE LOSS OF POWER WHILE ACCELERATING AND ENGINE AUTOMATICALLY GOES INTO "LIMP MODE" (ENGINE ECU PROTECTION PROTOCOL SO NO MORE DAMAGE WOULD BE DONE TO THE ENGINE) I NOTICED THAT THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD, SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED, RIGHT OF THE BAT THE WOMAN BEHIND THE COUNTER SAID IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE (WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE) SO I BECAME SUSPICIOUS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND I GOT A HOLD OF THE ACTUAL MECHANIC AND RIGHT AWAY HE SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, OUT OF GOOD FAITH HE ADVISE THAT I CAN CHANGE THAT PART MYSELF WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY FORD FOR THEM TO FIX. THE ESTIMATE FOR GETTING IT FIXED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSE TO $600 +TAX, WHEN THE PART ITSELF COST ONLY AROUND $200 +TAX. I BOUGHT THE PART FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND CHANGED IT, EVER SINCE THAT FIX MY VEHICLE IS RUNNING EVEN BETTER THAN BEFORE. THE MAN BEHIND THE COUNTER THAT GAVE ME THE PART MENTIONED THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THAT USUALLY CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY FIXES THE ISSUE, HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT IF A RECALL IS TO BE MADE TO JUST BRING BACK THE DEFECTIVE PART AND THE PROOF OF PURCHASE IN ORDER TO GET MY MONEY BACK. HE WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT HE COULD PUT A RUSH ORDER ON IT FOR AN ADDITIONAL 15% OF THE PRICE, AND IT WOULD STILL TAKE 2 WEEKS. THROUGH NORMAL CHANNELS, IT WOULD WAKE SEVERAL MONTHS. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND HE CONTINUES TO DRIVE IT UNTIL WE GET IT FIXED. I PRIMARILY DRIVE THIS CAR 99% OF THE TIME AND I AM 7 MONTHS PREGNANT. ON SATURDAY, JULY 13TH WHILE DRIVING IN A SIMILAR SITUATION, THE VEHICLE AGAIN STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL I COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS ABOUT A HALF DOZEN TIMES BUT NOT ALWAYS BY JUST STALLING. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO WENT INTO 'LIMP HOME' MODE ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION WHEN MY SON WAS DRIVING AND HE WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE CLOSE TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE WHERE IT SAT OVERNIGHT. WHEN WE STARTED IT THE NEXT TIME IT RAN LIKE IT WAS MISFIRING VERY BADLY, SO WE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND TAPPED ON THE THROTTLE BODY WITH THE HANDLE OF A SCREWDRIVER. IT THEN STARTED AND IDLED NORMALLY AND WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT ABOUT THREE MILES HOME. IT ALSO HAS SPUTTERED ERRATICALLY SIMILAR TO A VERY BAD REPEATED MISFIRING UNTIL STOPPING AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF. IT DID THIS TWICE WITHIN A QUARTER MILE AND THEN RAN FINE FOR OVER 15 MILES THAT I DROVE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO WANTED $107 DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM THAT I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN I ALREADY HAD FIGURED OUT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEIR 'SPECIALLY TRAINED' TECHNICIANS MAY FIND A DIFFERENT CAUSE THAN THE P2111 CODE I HAD READ WITH A SCANNER FROM A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE SUGGESTED. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSED ADDRESSED BY FORD THINKING THAT THERE WAS A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD PROBLEM IN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. PURCHASED MAY 30, 2012....LESS THAN ONE MONTH LATER, I WAS DRIVING ONTO A RAMP AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CAR JUST STOPPED BUT I COULD STEER SO I WAS ABLE TO PULL IT OVER. A STATE POLICEMAN CAME BY AND I SAID I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH MY MECHANIC. APPARENTLY, THE COMPUTER HAD SHUT DOWN AND THE ISSUE MAY HAVE BEEN THAT THE KEY I WAS USING WAS NOT PROGRAMMED?. I FOLLOWED STEPS TO PROGRAM KEYS AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR MONTHS UNTIL THIS PAST APRIL, 2013. DRIVING ALONG ON A MAIN ROAD, THE CAR DID IT AGAIN. COULD STEER IT BUT COULD NOT REPAIR SAME WAY AS BEFORE. I KNOW COMPUTERS AND SAY THAT WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, DISCONNECT IT. SO WE DISCONNECTED BATTERY AND WERE ABLE TO START CAR AND GET HOME BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN ARRIVING AT MY HOUSE. OF COURSE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT BACK IN FEBRUARY. MY MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE DID NOT KNOW WHY IT HAPPENED. I DO REGULAR MAINTENANCE THAT IS REQUIRED AND TAKE CARE OF THE CAR. I ALSO KEEP A LOG. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES SINCE, YESTERDAY AND TODAY, JUNE 17, 2013. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40MPH AND MY ESCAPE ALL OF SUDDEN LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE STAYED RUNNING BUT IT WOULD NOT DRIVE FORWARD. MY VEHICLE IS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE 6 CYC WITH 4 WD. THIS WAS A NEW VEHICLE PURCHASED IN EARLY 2010 AS IT HAD 4.7 MILES ON IT WHEN PURCHASED AND I PUT MOST OF THOSE MILES ON IT DURING THE TEST DRIVE. WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED RECENTLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. IT WAS AS IF THERE WAS NO GAS PEDAL IN THE VEHICLE AT ALL. NO SHUDDERING, OR CHUGGING AFTER THIS OCCURRED AND ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING AT ALL BEFORE IT OCCURRED. IT WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED AS I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE MY WAY ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE NEVER SHUT OFF WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED, AND THEN RESTARTED AND IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. I WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS BAD WHICH THEY REPLACED. I QUESTIONED AS TO HOW A BATTERY COULD CAUSE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM AS I UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE VEHICLE MECHANICS AND MY RESEARCH SHOWED THAT IT WAS MORE THAN LIKELY A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND I WAS ASSURED THAT BATTERY WAS MOST CERTAINLY THE ISSUE DUE TO THE COMPLEX NATURE OF VEHICLES TODAY AND THEIR ON BOARD COMPUTERS. WHEN THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED MY WIFE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND HAD JUST ENTERED THE INTERSTATE WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED WHERE AN ACCIDENT WAS ALMOST CAUSED BY HER EFFORTS TO EXIT THE ROAD. AGAIN NO WARNING. WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED IT WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. TODAY, IT WAS CONFIRMED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IN FACT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE THAT MY RESEARCH HAD SHOW IT TO BE, AND MORE SO, THE PART, WHICH IS SOMEHOW NOT A SAFETY RECALLED ITEM BY THE NHTSA, IS ON BACK-ORDER BY FORD BECAUSE OF THE SHEAR NUMBER OF THESE PARTS GOING BAD AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED IN SO MANY VEHICLES. DRIVING ALONG AT POSTED HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT, ENGINE WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY START LOSING POWER AND EVENTUALLY COME TO A STOP IN THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE TACHOMETER INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT ABOUT 1000 RPM, BUT IT WOULD NOT TAKE AND THOTTLE AND BARELY MOVE. SWITCHING THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING, RESET SOMETHING AND ALLOWED ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING NORMALLY BUT ONLY FOR ABOUT 20 MILES BEFORE DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. THIS WAS A SATURDAY ABOUT NOON AND CALLING SEVERAL FORD DEALERS WAS USELESS AS MOST SAID THEY WERE GETTING READY TO CLOSE, OR COULD NOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL MONDAY. NOT WANTING TO RUIN OUR VACATION, WE TRIED TO CONTINUE WITH THE ABOVE SCENARIO REPEATING ITSELF AT LEAST 6 MORE TIMES, EACH TIME GETTING MORE AND MORE DANGEROUS, AS TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND EACH TIME THE ENGINE WOULD LOSE POWER INSTANTLY AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS BEFORE WE COULD GET OFF THE ROAD INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. FINALLY CALLED A FORD DEALER IN COLUMBIA, SC THAT WAS OPEN TILL 4PM. AND SAID THEY COULD CHECK IT OUT. MADE IT THERE AT 3:30 PM AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE TROUBLE AS A CODE P2111 THROTTLE BODY STUCK OPEN. THEY HAD THE PART IN STOCK AND $326 LATER WE WERE ON OUR WAY. VEHICLE ONLY HAD 41K MILES. INTERNET RESEARCH HAS REVEALED SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME EXACT TROUBLE HAPPENING TO THEM. THERE IS EVEN A YOUTUBE VIDEO SHOWING THIS DESCRIBED TROUBLE ACTUALLY TAKING PLACE, AFTER A FRUSTRATED DRIVER COULD NOT GET ANY FORD DEALER TO RECREATE THE TROUBLE AND TAKE CARE OF IT, HE VIDEOD IT ACUTALLY HAPPENING. THIS IS ABOUT THE 10TH TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. IN EVERY CASE THE CAR STOPS ACCELERATING AND THE CAR DROPS INTO IDLE WITH THE RPM'S RANGING FROM 900-1100. SHIFTING GEARS DOES NOT HAVE AN EFFECT AND YOU HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE CAR TO TURN IN BACK ON. THE AMBER WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON EVERY TIME AND THE FEW TIMES THAT IT HAPPENED CONSECUTIVELY IN ONE TRIP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ON MY FIRST VISIT TO A DEALERSHIP THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE SECOND TIME THEY NOTICED MY TRANSMISSION WAS EATING ITS FLUID SO THE FILLED UP THE FLUID. THE THIRD TIME THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION AND THE MOST RECENT THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS SEEMS TO COINCIDE WITH THE OPEN INVESTIGATION PE13003. I HAVE HAD THE CAR MALFUNCTION OCCUR WHEN ACCELERATING THROUGH 65 TRYING TO GET ONTO A HIGHWAY. HAD IT HAPPEN TWICE AT 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT. HAD IT AT 45 MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND MULTIPLE TIMES ON BACK ROADS AT 35 MPH. 2010 FORD ESCAPE XLT (V6) IS HAVING REPEATED INCIDENTS (AT RANDOM INTERVALS) OF THROTTLE FAILURES. VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAS NO "GAS PEDAL", IDLES ROUGHLY (800 TO 1000 RPM) AND HAS TO BE COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD. ONLY WAY TO RESET IS TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURN OFF (DANGEROUS ON INTERSTATES OR IF IN LEFT LANE AND NO PLACE TO PULL OFF), RESTART AND MOST CASES THE PROBLEM IS ELIMINATED FOR HOURS, DAYS OR MORE. SOMETIMES IT CAN OCCUR MANY TIMES WITHIN A SHORT DRIVE PERIOD AND THEN GO AWAY FOR HOURS OF ISSUE-FREE DRIVING. I TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER (3/20/13) AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE THROTTLE BODY SHOULD BE REPLACED, BUT SAID NO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIR. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS FOR A 2 YEAR OLD CAR. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND I WOULD EXPECT A MANUFACTURER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AND SHOCKED AT THEIR NONCHALANCE REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO AGREED WITH ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. $300 FIX INCLUDED $99. LABOR WITH A 12 MONTH WARRANTY AT ANY FORD DEALER. THAT POINT SOLD ME SINCE THIS VEHICLE WAS LIKELY TO TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN, AND THAT IT COULD BE DONE WHILE I WAITED. I WAS NOT HAPPY TO CHECK MY PAPERWORK AFTER I GOT HOME AND FIND THAT INSTEAD OF STATING THE ISSUE IT SAID "CUSTOMER STATES REPLACE THROTTLE BODY PER CUSTOMER REQUEST" I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERN THAT THIS VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE WAS NOT DOCUMENTED ON MY PAPERWORK. ON JUNE 27, 2012, THE CAR (29988 MILES) AGAIN LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. I ENDED UP TAKING MY CAR TO ANOTHER SHOP NEAR MY HOME AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY HAD GONE OUT. THEY HAD RECENTLY MADE THIS FIX TO TWO OTHER FORD ESCAPES, WHICH CONCERNED ME. THEY ALSO HAD TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PIECE DIRECTLY FROM FORD, WHICH ALSO CONCERNS ME BECAUSE I AM NOW CONVINCED IT IS A FAULTY PIECE ALTOGETHER. WHILE DRIVING TO THE TPA ON I-75 APPROACHING THE EXIT FOR I-4 WE SLOWED FOR A TRUCK THAT CUT US OFF. OUR VEHICLE SHIFTED DOWN AT LEAST TWO GEARS WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVER REV. WE TRIED TO SPEED UP, BUT THE ENGINE JUST REVVED HIGHER. SO WE SLOWED WHILE EXITING ON TO THE RAMP FOR I-4. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE RIGHT AND PULL OFF THE RAMP ROAD BEFORE GETTING ON TO I-4. WE TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND SAT FOR A FEW MINUTES TO COMPOSE OURSELVES. I WAS HOPING THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD RESET ITSELF SO WE COULD CONTINUE. WE STARTED THE ENGINE AND WE CONTINUED TO THE AIRPORT WITHOUT ANYMORE PROBLEMS. I DROVE HOME, CALLED JOHN AT BRANDON FORD AND DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM. HE SAID IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE NONE OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON DURING THE INCIDENT. HE SAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND HOPEFULLY IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I DROVE FOR TWO WEEKS DROVE WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL 8/26/2011. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS BEFORE. THE ENGINE DOWN SHIFTED ABOUT 65 MPH AND THE ENGINE BEGAN REVVING. WE SLOWED THE VEHICLE AND CAME TO A STOP TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. AFTER ACCELERATING WE FELT THE ENGINE OVER REVVING BEFORE SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AS TO WHEN A PROBLEM WILL OCCUR. IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE NEED THIS PROBLEM FIXED WITH ASSURANCE THAT IT IS TRULY FIXED OR WE NEED RESTITUTION FROM FORD FOR SELLING US AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.

BATTERY AND OIL WARNING LAMPS ON DASH ILLUMINATED. WAS ABLE TO PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND MOVE TO SIDE OF ROAD. TURNED IGNITION OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RE-START VEHICLE AS NORMAL. 2010 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAS A FAST IDLE SPEED, IGNITION KEY LOCK PROBLEM AND A SOFT BRAKE PROBLEM. *TGW THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO HAVE THE IDLE SPEED LOWERED TO 500 RPM. THE DEALER STATED THAT COULD NOT BE DONE BECAUSE THE IDLE WAS SET AT THE FACTORY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL FORWARD AND BACKWARDS DUE TO THE FAST IDLE SPEED. HE ALMOST HIT THE BACK OF A BUILDING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK WHEN HE STARTED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. THE KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN IN THE IGNITION WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO START THE VEHICLE. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE XLT. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND ENTERING A RAMP THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE BATTERY AND OIL LIGHT FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT CHANGED GEARS TO NEUTRAL, TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS, AND PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE TO HER DESTINATION. SHE DID NOT USE THE HEAT OR RADIO IN CASE THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AT THIS TIME. THE CONTRACT IS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A MAJOR CRASH TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,950.

DEALERSHIP STATED THE POWER STEERING WAS NEWLY COMPUTERIZED THIS YEAR AND DID NOT RUN ON BELT AND PISTONS ANYMORE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED STEERING COLUMN AND RETURNED CAR ON FRIDAY 12-18-09. TODAY IS 1-6-10 AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN TONIGHT. WILL BE TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. WILL POST SECOND COMPLAINT FOR THE 2ND INCIDENT ONCE RESOLVED. *TR
