ABS braking not functioning, Power steering failure , speedometer and odometer failure, Air Bag indication of non function. Warning indications on dash illuminated at once when failures occured The loss of functioning Air bags, Power Steering, ABS Braking are all possible safety risks, most especially when combined at once. Vehicle has been diagnosed by a registered Ford Dealership. Problems diagnosed as a Failure of the electrical ABS system module by the Ford dealership. Dealership expressed that this was a known issue and all repair parts are currently out of stock and on national back order with no ETA for availability. This leaves the vehicle in a condition that makes it a safety hazard to be driven , for myself and others. Documentation unavailable at this time from dealership, verbal conversation, still awaiting repair options. Vehicle has been in dealership since 11/03/2025.

This vehicle has had a bad electrical problem where it makes a real bad clicking noise and sometimes it doesn't turn off the radio also the radio doesn't turn on at times. The major problem is it has not passed emissions for almost a year it gives out bad sensor readings and clearing the code so I can pass emissions don't help it comes back on. I have tried to let Ford know that this car is having recall issues . I have had a purge valve put on it but it's still it's not capable of passing the emissions because the sensors at all Ford dealerships said they can reset the sensors but they want me to pay I don't think that is fair to me because these are recall issues that I'm having! even though it's older .I think it's only fair to have it analyzed at a Ford dealership free of charge.. I'm paying car notes and I cannot even drive the vehicle safely now it's leaking antifreeze if you check the past recalls on 2014 Ford escapes there were fuel injector problems and that's probably why it cannot pass emissions so I need this recall handled properly thank you.

Electrical issue for headlight having to replace the socket and lightblub everytime the light blub goes out. Every 2 months. Back up camera not working, blue screen, glitches, upside down, or says rearview camera not working.

Whenever I got the vehicle at the middle of 2025 I had issues with the shocks hub assembly axle motor mount electrical issues trunk was opening and closing by itself. Recent recently I drive it to Savannah and the vehicle started to skip and would not switch gears while I was driving down a 70 mph Road. I almost wrecked due to an issue with the vehicle I have looked up the recalls that hasn't been repaired on the vehicle and I believe it has something to do with unrepair recalls or maybe there is a recall that wasn't found or reported because I've seen a lot of recall information about the transmission. I also had a incident with the door unlocking and locking while my nephew was in the vehicle after stepping out the doors automatically locked but I still had the driver door open. My nephew freaked out cuz he can't get out the vehicle. The vehicle has some other issues that I do not know how to explain and if there is any possible way that the unrepared recalls has something to do with the repairs that the vehicle need now then I would like something done immediately. There is 19 recalls on a 2014 Ford escape. Now out of those 19 only two have been reported for my VIN number but I believe due to the car being sold five different times within a short period of time no one had the time to actually report the issues wrong with the vehicle I think people were just trying to get rid of it because they knew something was wrong with it.

For years the rear back up camera has failed to engage or turns on and off intermittently when the vehicle is put in reverse. This can lead to a potentially hazardous driving issue which could lead to property damage or potentially in the extreme loss of life. There are recalls for exactly this same issue on literally millions of similar Ford vehicles, but they refuse to acknowledge this issue and fix it for the 2014 Ford Escape Thank you

2014 Ford Escape. Shortly after the warrant period ended the back-up camera stopped working properly. The picture is Intermittent, upside down, and stops working completely. No accident yet but very unsafe. Ford is aware of problem and conducting a recall, but my vehicle is not part of the recall. The dealer is aware of this problem and tried to fix it. Please require ford to expand the back-up camera recall to ALL vehicles with malfunctioning cameras.

The contact ordered a third-party vehicle report and discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 94,000, and the report showed that the mileage was 119,000.

1. The transmission has continuously slipped and stuck in gears when significantly outside of standard RPM:Speed standards for the vehicle. 2. The vehicle has recently started leaking oil via a lower pressure valve. 3. The engine thermostat and/or sensor need to be replaced with faulty internal temperatures being registered. 4. The rear collision warning and camera system started malfunctioning after an update that happened middle of 2024. The camera won't work at all approximately 50% of the time. 5. The brake issues haven't been fully diagnosed, but I'm aware of the model year/series of vehicle having several faulty components that could have a hand in the weakened braking. 6. I recently had AAA come diagnose the vehicle (reference the photos provided). My objective is to have my vehicle included in the widespread recalls that were released for my car model, year, and overall series. For some reason my VIN in registering as a vehicle that qualifies for the recalls but seems to have the exact same issues. I'm more than happy to take part in an investigation and or third-party inspection to expedite the process as well. I've also included the reports I've found when searching for the 2014 Ford Escape recall/repair list (via your website and others).

1# My fuel system is causing a problem My vehicle will not pass emissions it's been several tries of rejection. It is giving me recall syptoms and I know that this type of vehicle has had fuel issues recalled in the past. The sensors on the car are giving out codes that don't allow me to pass emissions and it's saying something about the( fuel system.) #2 I am having an issue with the electrical system in the radio it flares up and causes a deafening crackling noise and I have to pull over and turn the car off in order to shut the noise off sometimes the noise starts on its own when you're driving I have shut the car off and exit the vehicle only to hear the crackling noise coming from the electrical system while the car was off, at times I was afraid it would cause an electrical Fire! I feel I am having (recall issues )with this vehicle and because it is older the Ford motor company will not allow it to be inspected at one of their shops. I have contacted the better Business bureau where the Ford motor company is located in Michigan and they still do not want to help me. I cannot drive my car legally because it cannot pass emissions because of the fuel issue. Yes the engine light was on the dash back in November but the codes were cleared and it has not come back on but the vehicle still will not pass emissions. And I feel that Ford motor company does not want to assist me because there's no factory warranty anymore and the vehicle is older but that is not fair to the consumer it is still their vehicle and it is having recall problems even though the VIN# does not show it. I would like your assistance in anything you can help me with with this vehicle I feel so stuck at this point , still financing this suv. I uploaded a photo of the estimate repair bill over $2000 and the Emissions Reject paper from 11/24. Vehicles has failed since. Thank you! Ford recall 17S09 indicates back up camera malfunction indicating not working. My Ford Escape fits the year make and model, currently having that exact issue with a not working malfunctioning back up camera. Ford refuses to allow my VIN to be included into that recall repair even though it fits the parameters of the recall. Indicating the fault has to come from the NHTSA.

The control visual display above the steering column went totally white. I noticed that there is a recall for this same defect on 2014 Ford Escapes, but the dealer checked and said my vehicle wasn’t included in this recall. This display shows you all important functions your car is doing, but being it is pure white you cannot tell a lot of important information that you would normally see.

Unknown. Something at the backside of the motor caught on fire. The car overheated and would not drive. Pulled over, cooled off, added coolant, drove home. Car won't go over 40, shakes, and makes noises. Took it to automotive place. They took the manifold(?) and stopped! Called and told us there had been a fire in the motor, we need to call our insurance company and take it to a Ford dealership. Warranty and insurance company are both fighting with us. Neither one wants to pay!!! This is total BS!!!! No recalls?! Google this cars problems and their #1 problem is they catch on fire!!! WHY IS THERE NO RECALLS?!?!? Does someone have to die to get a recall?

I have maintained my vehicle as I always have with previous autos in the past. In 11/22 I had to replace the transmission, which left me 6k+ in debt. My auto is now seemingly going into limp mode for no reason whatsoever and just shutting off while driving. This almost caused an accident, there was NO forewarning of any mechanical issues prior to it doing this. The check engine light came on, rpm’s declined, tried to move to side of the road by pressing gas pedal with no acceleration. Shut car off, called a tow truck mechanic could not diagnose any problem. Since this first incident it has happened almost everytime I’ve driven it. This last time left me and my dog on side of road, unable to move to safe place due to no acceleration with gas pedal. My car is now leaking oil once parked, there’s oil all over hood and internal parts of car, auto is now spuddering with intermittent bursts of power. I’ve never had as many issues with a vehicle as I have with my ‘14 Ford escape ecoboost titanium suv. Upon researching common problems with this year and make this is a MAJOR COMMON ISSUE. For an auto to be “known” for these mechanical issues, these should be ALL covered by the manufacturer!! Transmission is a known issue, the deacceleration and oil leak issue once this issue starts are all known issues. Every mechanic I’ve either brought it to or discussed my issues tell me the same thing, “ oh yeah, that year is known for these issues” so what does one do, when they can’t afford a new vehicle , they owe more on the car due to the repairs? I’ve also needed to replace minimum of 5 headlight bulbs and tail light bulbs within the last 6 months. That’s not normal. Please advise

The check engine warning light and an unknown sensor warning light were illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving the following day, and the vehicle decelerated from 65 MPH to 10 MPH, nearly causing a semi-truck to crash into the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle for 15 minutes. The contact stated that he restarted the vehicle, activated the hazard lights, and continued driving at 40-50 MPH. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred while driving and exceeding 60 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be inspected. The dealer determined that an unknown sensor had failed, and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered due to the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

2014 Ford Escape Power Steering failure while on the interstate in fast moving and heavy traffic. Almost caused a pile up and barely got out of the way of a semi truck going 70 or more mph to the safety of the edge of interstate. The power steering had been working fine. Until a couple days prior to the incident, I cranked it up and it seemed like it was in manual steering mode. I cut it off re cranked it and it was fine. So i thought just a randon glitch when starting it. Always loved and relied and trusted ford vehicles until the incident on the interstate. I got it off the interstate cut it off and started it again, it was no longer power steering and felt it was in manual steering mode all the way on the back roads getting it home. I contacted Ford and told them of the problem, they instantly said they had repared vehicles and also numerous complaints on this problem and that there was not a recall on it, only on vehicles up to 2012. Then after further research I found tons of folks who were experiencing the same problem and some in the process of lawsuits or in process of filing one against Ford for the problem. I ask on line and researched others complaints about their experience, for some it was just the battery, so I replaced it with a new battery, it was not the problem and soon after had someone put a scanner on it and it shows the electric steering rack as the error. the dealership when called about the part stated that Ford had several problems with the steering part, that the system had a faulty boot which would allow water to get into the electric steering component and basically fry the board. The solution Ford has for it is not to do anything about it in numerous vehicles having the same faulty parts is to sell you a corrected part and charge you around $4000/labor? Really? You are getting sued and you are telling others to repair it with another probably faulty part again? Should I sue for the repairs? Can they be forced to recall?

The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 14V495000 (Electrical System) and 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recalls. The failure persisted and occurred more frequently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector line had failed as well as there was a wiring failure causing the battery and engine to engage or disengage unintentionally by the driver. The alternator and battery had been replaced; however, a third repair had not been completed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure where it was confirmed that the failure was related but was not included in the recall with the NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 65,000.

My car has 15 recalls. I was only notified of 2. According to one of the letters I received It states that repairs were done but not completed and that is a lie. I have never had any recall work done, mainly because the first letter said they didn't have parts. I was only made aware of the latest 2 and no work has ever been done that I am aware of nor have I ever been notified until recently. So why are they saying work was done when I know it wasn't? One of the recalls says my car should not be driven for safety reasons. How can they be trusted? I know the repairs were not done even though the letter says it has been done. How can they claim it was fixed, when I know for a fact it wasn't. What can I do to prove they are lying? Shouldn't there be records? I would love to see these records. My instrument cluster/panel went out on my car. I know I have a 2014 but my car only has 89,000 miles on it. I cannot imagine that something as important as an instrument cluster/panel was made to last under 100,000 miles let alone ever. So I looked for a recall and was excited to know that I would not have to pay for such an expensive repair. It was short lived however when I realized that my vehicle having a manufacture date of 02/12/2014 was not included in the recall which is for May 2014 - July 2015. Seriously this is unbelievable to me. I had to pay $1,130.18 to fix this and I can't believe that others have not had the same problem.

This vehicle was purchased by an “Authorized Dealer “ on August 31st 2023. I was unaware of the many issues that this vehicle had. Within the first few hours of driving off the lot in this car, I put the car in reverse and for one the back up camera stalled, secondly, a message appeared stating the camera is unavailable and for me to contact the dealer. Well I did, I contacted Five Star Ford and was told $165 just for a diagnostic. Additionally, I was driving on the highway Sept. 9th and the car just began to lose power. I literally was pedal to the metal trying to get home in hopes that this vehicle didn’t give out on me. Shortly after that, the check engine light came on and as I accelerated, this rough noise seemed as though it was getting louder and louder. Last but not least, this car drinks gas likes it’s going out of style. The overall mileage is bogus. According to the odometer after having this car for 11 days, I had supposedly put 1,000 miles on this vehicle!!!! That’s absurd to me!! I haven’t been out of the town or anything. I’ve watched the odometer jump from 120812 to 120837 after only traveling about 2 and half miles. Like what’s going on with this these faulty transmissions in these cars, FORD! What are you doing about it??? People work hard to purchase a car for them and their family. Why make our lives more difficult with these faulty vehicles??!!

The contact’s mother owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for the recall repair, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the speedometer failed to display an accurate reading and remained at 0. Several unknown warning lights started flashing. The contact then stated that the electrical system started to malfunction, and the warning lights remained illuminated. The contact stated that he veered off the road to park the vehicle and then had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the diagnostic result indicated several unknown failures, and it was suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS, the ABS module, and the battery voltage had failed. The vehicle had not yet been repaired and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

Back up camera at times is showing upside down view, sometime squiggle lines, and sometime a message that reads camera not available. I have become used to using the camera and rely on it for backing up in in parking lots and such. I grew up using the mirrors and can still do that but the camera give extra security. My vehicle has about 78,000.00 , the camera should not be acting up. I have taken it to the local dealer and got a large quote to replace it. I did see on the news last night about a recall on this issue, but my year model was not included. This started about eight months ago. I had no idea I could file a complaint until today after calling Ford directly and being transferred to National Highway Safety Division. I am always available if someone want to inspect my vehicle. I don't drive much, as you can tell a 2014 with 78,000 miles, but when I do i like to feel like I can rely on the safety features of my vehicle.,

Amongst SEVERAL problems with this vehicle, it often slips out of gear while driving. Which has caused me to have to stop in the middle of the lane. It has had multiple mega fuses go out. It will often say “power steering fault” and then the message will go away. I am genuinely scared to drive this vehicle because I never know when the power system is going to go out. I have always stayed up to date on maintenance and it has less than 90k on miles. I do not understand why this has not been pulled off the market. It seems like all the escapes before mine were pulled for the same issues.

The vehicle will get a steering assist fault message and go into limp mode immediately giving you no time to pull to the side of the road. Please make ford do something about the steering issues on these vehicles. These escapes are too dangerous to drive.

Steering assist fault: Service requied light came on. Steering wheel hard to turn. Steering wheel system is electrical and cannot use power steering fluid to receitfy the problem. Towed vehicle to nearest Ford dealership to repair the issue. Diagnostic test ($170) is being conducted to determine the issue. I research the internet and most complainents indicated the steering rack need to be replaced. Cost range, very costly. The contact has stated that their vehicle is not included in the recall because it only includes MY 2013 Ford Escapes. The diagnostic test determined that a new power steering rack was needed but the part was on backorder. No assistance from Ford has been offered.

I was going to leave to the grocery store on Sunday the 17th of July, when the shift gear was not at all working and it hasn’t been working ever since. I am just thankful that it happened at home and not any where else. However, I do wish I was emailed or sent a letter earlier to have prevented me from having this problem.

I have owned this Ford for 3 years now. It uses coolent excessively and I have replaced many parts. The Catalyic Converter went out, all motor mounts, font and rear suspension, engine burp valve, faulty throttle body, fried drivers side bulb socket, wiper arms stripped, weather stipping corroding on windshield near hood, front window cracked and damaged, coolent temperature control sensor and firmwware update not automated and dealer charges $250 to update car software for engine improved performance. Sluggish, bogging and unresponsive car until software update and throttle body repair. All around a lemon for as many parts I've put on in a short amount of time. I've spent over $3300 on parts alone. The dealer in Upland services the cars oil but fails to fill the fluids, spills oil on my spark plugs and ruins the fasteners to the skid plate by over torqueing them. It has been the worst car experience of my life and I've never had to replace so many parts in so short of time. I drove a 1974 Nova around for 20 years and still haven't replaced as many parts. This is ridiculous and predatary of Ford to put out cars with these many short term problems on them. Literally evering is going bad after 100k miles. I read post after post of people needing new engines and transmissions because of Fords incompetience. I just got a recall for the Transmission which means the car is unsafe to drive and Ford does not have the ability to fix it until the end of the year. Without a rental or replacement car I am risking my life driving this vehicle and the integety of the tranmissions. So if the tranmissison breaks before the recall is able to fixed then what happens then. Is it now a complicated legal matter where attorny's mitigate the age of the vehicle vs their incompetience. Ordering parts with Ford is a nightmare. They sometimes send the wrong parts and leave it up to the dealers to do the return or not. So it takes weeks between calling back and forth with Ford.com parts.

The wipers became slow and erratic, then stopped when headlights were turned on. The lights also were affected as they became dim or out depending on the selection of Hi, Low or Driving. The wipers could have failed during a storm, or the headlights could have become inoperative with no warning. The problem was reproduced at the dealer and inspected as well. There was no indication that there was a problem until the wipers and lights were operated. There could have been more systems that were failing we did not notice as the problem was all of the grounding wires were on painted surfaces. There are several Service Bulletins on this car and the Ford Focus in the same model year range. I have correspondence from the dealer that indicates the problem. Although our car did not fall under these bulletins, I feel this should be a recall since any electric component could fail with no warning by the design of these cars.

FORD STATED THE ENTIRE PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, INVOLVING RE-READING ENGINE MILEAGE AND PROGRAMMING KEYS AGAIN FOR $700. DID NOT GET THAT FIXED AS IT'S NOT A NECESSITY. DRIVER WINDOW MOTOR FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS UP. NOW THE ENGINE HAS BEEN READING A TURBO ISSUE BUT IT CANNOT BE DETERMINED IF IT'S THE ACTUAL TURBO BOOST OR THE WASTE GATE. THIS LEAD TO TRANSMISSION SKIPPING AND ULTIMATELY STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND THEN CITY ROADS AND HAVING TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT HOME AND THEN TOWED THE CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP WHO STATED TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $4500. ALONG WITH A FUEL LINE ISSUE THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED 2 YEARS PRIOR AND AGAIN UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHY THE TURBO SENSOR CODE IS POPPING UP. CAR IS USED FOR TYPICAL DAILY DRIVING WITH CHILDREN AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE/YEAR BUT NOT ON MY SPECIFIC VIN THOUGH THEY ARE SIMILAR ISSUES. SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AND I HAD TO PAY $2K TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS. I MOVED TO WAXHAW, NC IN 2017. AFTER THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING, I CALLED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN LANCASTER, SC (MOVED HERE IN 01/2020). I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE MULTIPLE "RECALLS" ONLY WHEN I CALLED FORD CO IN LANCASTER. I WAS NEVER MAILED ANY RECALLS. THE FORD CO FOUND RECALLS AND I TOOK IT TO THEM ON 3/11/2020. NOTE THAT THEY DID NOT OFFER ME A LOANER CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RECALL WORK . RECALL#'S 17V472000 (7/25/17),15V406000 (6/24/15)-ELECTRICAL/INSTRUMENT PANEL, 15V005000(1/9/15)-FUEL SYSTEM/GAS DELIVERY,FUEL PUMP), 17V209000(3/27/17)-ENGIINE/ENGINE COOLING), & 14V403000(7/2/14). I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD QUALIFY AS "LEMON LAW" OR AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY I RECEIVED NO NOTICES REGARDING THESE SIGNIFICANT RECALLS. IN 2014, I BOUGHT A NEW FORD ESCAPE FROM RHINEBECK FORD IN RHINEBECK NY. IT REMAINED IN PRISTINE CONDITION UNTIL ITS UNTIMELY 'DEATH' ON AUGUST 10, 2020. PRIOR TO AUGUST 10, IT WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES TO ADDRESS SAFETY RECALLS. ON AUGUST 10 MY WIFE, SON AND NIECE BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO RHINEBECK FORD. AFTER EXAMINING THE CAR, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ENGINE AND CYLINDERS HAVE COOLANT IN THEM, AND THE TRANSMISSION IS FULL OF METAL FILINGS. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES COMBINED MEAN THAT THE CAR IS DISEASED; HOWEVER RHINEBECK FORD IS STILL IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF THE CAUSE OF DEATH. TOOK FOR 2ND OPINION AND RAN OUT OF COOLANT AND OVERHEATED LESS THAN 5 MILES AWAY FROM FORD DEALERSHIP, EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST REPLACED THE COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK AND FILLED IT.. CONTINUES NEED COOLANT EVERY FEW MILES. SEEMS CRAZY THAT A VEHICLE THAT STAYED ON TOP OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR EXCESSIVE CONDITIONS WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AT LESS THAN 94K MILES AND IS THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FOOT THE BILL. I GOT INTO THE TRUCK AND CRANK IT UP AS I WAS LEAVING WORK ONE AFTERNOON AND WHEN I TURNED THE RADIO ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN FOR THE REAR BACK UP CAMERA AND RADIO WENT OUT.. ITS WAS FLASHING WHITE AND BLACK AND THEN BLACK WITH A WHITE LINE THRU IT AFTER IT KELLY FLASHING TURNING RED GREEN ORANGE WITH LIME JUST RUNNING THRU THE SCREEN.THEN ABOUT 10 MINUTES TOPS IT WAS GONE OUT.. IT ONLY TAKES ME 12 MINUTES TO GET HOME FROM WORK AND IT DIDN'T LAST THAT LONG SO TOOK IT BACK TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT WRONG WITH IT. BUT I HAVE NO RADIO AND NO CAMERA. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AROUND NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK AND ONE NIGHT IT MAKE A SPARK AS I WAS SITTING WITH IT RUNNING AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU. THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT VENTS SO IT PARKED IT AND CALLED THE TOW TRUCK. QUICK TOWED IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STILL COULDN'T FIGURE OUT A PROBLEM THEY JUST DISCONNECTED THE WIRING COMPLETELY SO I'M WORSE OFF AS FAR AS IT GOES TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM . I DON'T SEE ANY FIXES FOR THESE ISSUES BUT I'VE SEEN LOTS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS PLEASE HELP

THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 8-10 TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

WHEN THE CONTACT QUESTIONED THE DEALER, THEY STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL AND DID NOT PROVIDE A REPAIR ESTIMATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

SURGING IN THE ENGINE WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WHEN SLOWING TO STOP. ENGINE FAULT MESSAGE WOULD COME UP IN DISPLAY AND I TOOK A PICTURE, SHOWED IT TO SERVICE MANAGER WITH NO SUCCESS. COMPUTER WOULD NOT STORE CODES WHEN THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED SO ON 4 SEPARATE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE AND TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT AND BRING IT IN IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. VEHICLE FINALLY DIED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A SIGNAL RETURN FOR MAP WIRING PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. AFTER SOME READING I BELIEVE THERE HAVE BEEN SERVICE ADVISORIES AND POSSIBLY A RECALL FOR CERTAIN VIN'S. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE PROBLEMS IT WAS HAVING BUT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE.

WHILE HAVING TO REPLACE THE COOLANT AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK AND AFTER HAVING 2 RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM, THEN AFTER 10000 MILES AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, IE REPLACE OVERFLOW BOTTLE, SENSORS, ETC. THE CAR STILL IS LOSING COOLANT AND NOW THE "ENGINE HAS REACHED HIGH TEMP PLEASE STOP CAR SAFELY". WARNING IS SHOWING ON PANEL AND THE CAR WILL GO INTO DRIVE BUT WILL NOT MOVE. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN WHEN THIS "WARNING" OCCURRED IN MY DRIVEWAY, THERE WAS NO WAY ENGINE COULD HAVE OVERHEATED AS IT HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN. THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE A DEFECT IN THE RECALL REPAIRS THAT WERE DONE OR THAT THERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM.. I HAVE THE CAR CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND AM TOLD THAT IT COULD TAKE UP TO 3 WEEKS FOR REPAIRS.

FAILURE AT 80,000 MILES, HOWEVER THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ENGINE AT 76,000 DUE TO PROBLEMS FROM THE COOLANT RECALL; THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR WHILE DRIVING. COMPUTER SCREEN WOULD SHOW "SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN"; VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO "LIMP" MODE, REDUCE SPEED AND CAR WOULD SHUT OFF WITHOUT NOTICE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN AFTER ISSUE OCCURING 4X IN A 2 MILE DRIVE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN. ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER 30 DAYS THEY RETURNED THE CAR WITH 75 MILES TEST DRIVEN AND SHOWED THAT THE TECH RESET THE COMPUTER MODULE PRIOR TO DUPLICATING THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAD ME "RESET" THE VEHICLE BY DRIVING IT. WHILE DRIVING 55MPH THE ISSUE REOCCURRED AT 100 MILES AFTER THE SYSTEM RESET. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER A WEEK THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE "SOME" BUT NOT ALL OF THE ISSUES. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP THEY DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE BACK BY PAYING OFF THE EXISTING LOAN IN EXCHANGE FOR PURCHASING A 2018 FORD ESCAPE.

THREE TIMES THIS HAPPENED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON SURFACE STREETS. IN THIS MOST RECENT ONE. SOME OF THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER A RECALL BUT THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MODEL THAT IS JUST WRONG. I HAD A FORD EXPLORER FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND 200,000 MILES AND IT NEVER BROKE DOWN ON ME THE WAY THIS ONE HAS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THIS CAR.

I WAS GETTING CLOSE TO MY WARRANTIES END AND BRANG THE VECHILE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH IT I HAD PURCHASED IT FROM. THEY SAID THEY UPDATED THE PCU (WHICH AFTER RESEARCHING IS FORDS RECOMMENDED FIX). COUPLE WEEKS PAST AND ITS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. WARRANTIES OVER NOT MY PROBLEM IS WHAT IM TOLD. BOTH FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD. I HAVE A RECALL FROM FORD DO TO SHIFTER CABLE BUSHINGS BEING FAULTLY. WERE YOUR CAR COULD ROLL AWAY DUE TO BEING IN THE WRONG GEAR. BUT THE KICKER IS THEY HAVE NOT YET PROVIDED A PART AND YOU CAN GET IT FIXED AND BE REIMBURSED OR ALWAYS USE YOUR PARKING BRAKE. WHICH IM SURE IS GREAT FOR HOT ROTORS AND BREAKPADS. AND THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE. MY VECHILE NOW HAS QUITE A FEW ISSUES. WHICH INCLUDE STALLING WHEN BACKING UP SHIFTER STUCK IN PARK (FINALLY WHEN IT DOES RELEASE SLAMS INTO REVERSE) RANDOMLY DRAINING BATTERY BECAUSE CAR IS IN POWER SAVING MODE NOT STARTING BECAUSE IF HILL ASSIST MODE? BACKUP CAM INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORKING TOUCHSCREEN DISPLAYNOT WORKING OR BLACK. ALL THESE PROBLEMS SEEM TO BE COMMON AMONG 2014 ESCAPE OWNERS WHEN READING ONLINE FORUMS FOR BOTH OWNERS AND MECHANICS. YET FORD STATES THAT EVEN WITH THE RECALLED ISSUE. NO CONSUMER COMPLAINTS OR INJURIES HAVE BEEN FILED. I WILL BE DOCUMENT EVERY OCCURRENCE FROM THIS DAY FORWARD.

I WAS PARKED IN A LARGE PARKING LOT OF A GROCERY STORE. WHEN LEAVING MY VEHICLE WAS BEING PUT INTO DRIVE, TRANSMISSION WENT INTO REVERSE AND SHIFTER WAS IN PARK. THE KEY WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED BUT UNABLE TO KEEP CAR SECURE W/O LEAVING PARKING BRAKE ON. THERE WAS NO WAY TO CRANK THE CAR SINCE IT WAS NOT IN PARK. CAR WAS COMPLETELY NON WORKING. MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE LEFT IN THE PARKING LOT AND TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. IN SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT, WITH A NON-FUNCTIONING CAR WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, I SEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND THE EXACT DESCRIPTION OF WHAT WAS GOING ON UNDER RECALL 18S20. INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP OF THIS WHEN THE CAR WAS DELIVERED TO THEM. THAT WAS THE ONLY PART THAT WAS FIXED, SINCE IT WAS THE ONLY FAULTY PART. FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS SINCE, APPARENTLY, MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AT A DIFFERENT PLANT. SAME MAKE, MODEL, ETC. SAME PART, OTHERS ARE PAID FOR, JUST NOT MINE. FORD WAS NOT WILLING TO COMPENSATE BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT IN THE SYSTEM FOR THIS RECALL AT THE TIME OF MY REPAIRS. THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND LOT OF WASTED TIME, SERVICES AND MONEY. IF I HAD KNOWN AND BEEN INFORMED OF THIS I COULD HAVE HAD IT FIXED PRIOR TO A BREAKDOWN AND WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME, IN A HOT CAR, IN A BUSY PARKING LOT VERY UPSET. UNNECESSARY STRESS FOR SURE.

ON 13 AUGUST 2018 MY FIANCE WAS DRIVING TO OUR NEW HOME WE'RE BUYING WHEN SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TOLD HER TO PULL OVER AND GRAB HER PURSE AND GET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. BY NOW FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. LUCKILY SHE HAD CRACKED OPEN THE DOOR BEFORE STOPPING BECAUSE BEFORE SHE STOPPED ALL THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED. I HAD ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND THE CARS FRONT END HAD VIRTUALLY MELTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES. IF MY FIANCE HAD NOT CRACKED OPENED THE DOOR SHE MOST ASSUREDLY WOULD HAVE BURNED TO DEATH. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME ESCAPING AS I AM A DISABLED VETERAN WITH SEVERAL MOBILITY PROBLEMS. OUR CAR WAS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 64000 MILES ON IT. WE NEVER EXPECTED WE MIGHT POSSIBLY BE INJURED OR DIE FROM A NEWER VEHICLE. I REALLY HOPE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WASN'T AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER WITH THIS VEHICLE.

I RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY AT MY APPOINTMENT TIME, AND AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1,600.00. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP TO DO SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM. I DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A RECALL #15V406000 ON JUNE 24, 2015 FOR SOME 2014 FORD ESCAPES. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THIS, I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. FORD KNEW THAT THERE WAS A SOFTWARE INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUE THAT WOULD CAUSE A MALFUNCTION. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD #101, "CONTROL AND DISPLAYS". MY LIFE IS AT RISK BY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH AN INOPERATIVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. WHY IS IT, THAT FORD FIXED THE PROBLEM IN SOME 2014 ESCAPES, BUT NOT ALL. WHY IS IT OKAY THAT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO PLACE MY LIFE IN DANGER??? I THINK THAT FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPLACE ALL FAULTY INSTRUMENT PANELS, NOT JUST SOME OF THEM. I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY MY LIFE IS LESS IMPORTANT THAN OTHER 2014 ESCAPE OWNERS, AND WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IN SECURING A REMEDY TO THIS PROBLEM.

THE CAR HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE SINCE 8/11 AND PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL ON 8/13 THAT THIS ISSUE IS AN ACTUAL RECALL AND WHEN WE CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALER, THEY INFORMED US THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THE PART TO FIX OUR CAR! I WAS VERY LUCK NOT TO BEEN INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. AFTER I GOT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART MY VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO. I WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN TO START IT AND WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. I CALLED AAA AND AND TOW TRUCK CAME ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER AND WHEN HE GOT IT IT STARTED UP AGAIN. THE CAR HAS A LITTLE OVER 33,000 MILES AND I BOUGHT IT AS A PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED CAR FROM THE BRANDON FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO.

I WAS TOLD MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL BUT ONLINE I FOUND RECALLS FOR 2014 FOR ESCAPE FOR THE WIRING HARNESS. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR BUT I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A 2014 VEHICLE AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY A RECALL.

I WAS DRIVING UP THE INTERSTATE AFTER WORK AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING I BEGAN TO NOTICE SMOKE. I LOOKED AROUND AND REALIZED IT WAS MY CAR. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND MY CAR STARTED FLASHING EVERYTHING ON THE DASH PANEL WAS RED AND FLASHING ENGINE FAILURE. I HAD SCHEDULED IT TO GET REPAIRED YESTERDAY MORNING, BUT WAS UNABLE TO MAKE IT AS WE RECEIVED A LOT OF SNOW AND SCHOOLS WERE CANCELLED AND SUCH. I HAD KNOWN OF THE RECALL SINCE LAST YEAR SINCE I ALREADY WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER RECALL WITH THE LATCH. I TRIED TO GET THEM TAKEN CARE OF AT THE SAME TIME, BUT THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WOULDN'T BE FOR SOME TIME. I RECEIVED A NOTICE DIRECTLY FROM FORD BETWEEN ONE AND TWO WEEKS AGO AND CALLED ZIEGLER IN ELKHART TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, BUT THEY WEREN'T AVAILABLE FOR ALMOST A WEEK. IT IS OBVIOUS THE DAMAGE WAS ALREADY DONE WITH MY CAR ANYWAY, CONSIDERING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL, WHICH A WHOLE PROCESS OF THE CYLINDER HEAD CRACKING, COOLANT LEAKING OUT AND THAT POTENTIALLY CAUSING A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I AM THANKFUL THAT THE CAR WAS JUST WARMING UP IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND NEITHER MY KIDS NOR MYSELF WERE INSIDE. I AM ALSO GRATEFUL THAT OUR HOUSE DIDN'T CATCH FIRE AND JUST SUSTAINED SOME COSMETIC DAMAGE DUE TO THE HEAT. I SHOWED THEM HOW YOU HAVE TO KEEP PUSHING THE BUTTON WHILE EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL GOES CRAZY. DEALERSHIP BLAMING THE BATTERY, BUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN SO FAST? MY VEHICLE ISN'T INCLUDED. MY VEHICLE IS FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURING PLANT, BUT WITH THE DATE OF MARCH 2014. MY CAR HOWEVER DOES HAVE A RECALL OF THE COOLANT SYSTEM, POSSIBLE OVERHEATED WITH FIRE HAS BEEN REPORTED. I AM WAITING FOR PARTS. ON FEBRUARY 2017 I BROUGHT A 2014 FORD ESCAPE AT ABOUT 59 K MILES AND NOW IT HAS ABOUT 70K MILES ON IT. I WAS TOTALLY CLUELESS AS TO HOW UNSAFE THIS CAR WAS AND ALL OF THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS/ISSUES THAT CONSUMERS ARE HAVING WITH THIS CAR. ON 09/22/2017, THIS CAR TOTALLY BROKE DOWN. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AS THE CAR WITHOUT MADE A LOUD NOISE, AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING JUST STOPPED/SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC. NONE OF THE SAFETY INDICATOR ALERTS WORKED IN THIS CAR SO I WAS CLUELESS THAT THE CARD HAD ANY ISSUES. I ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AT THE TIME AND IT WAS CLEARLY OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION, BAD BATTERY, ABS ISSUES AND POSSIBLY AN ALTERNATOR. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND POSSIBLE A RECALL THAT IS WHY NO WARNINGS LIGHTS CAME ON TO LET ME KNOW IT WAS A PROBLEM. I REACHED OUT TO FORD WHO BASICALLY SAID SORRY WE DON'T CARE HAVE A NICE DAY. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF OF THE MARKET UNTIL FORD CAN GET THIS IN ORDER. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AFTER ACCELERATION AND WOULD NOT RESTART. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT MECHANIC'S SHOP AND MECHANIC IS REPORTING AN ERROR CODE OF "POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAIL". THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE! THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL 14S17 AS IT IS A DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH 2014 FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES.

TODAY, 10/8/17 THIS AM CHECKED COOLANT AND EMPTY. NO INDICATION OF ENG RUNNING "HOT" OR NO FLUID LOW INDICATOR LIGHT/WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BEING DRIVEN WHEN HEAVY RAIN BEGAN. THE WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN ON IN ANY LEVEL, MANUAL OR OTHERWISE. THIS CREATED AN EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY. THE DEALER DID NOT DISCLOSE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE BCM BUT INDICATED WAS THE CAUSE. MY ESCAPE HAS NEVER HAD ANY WORK PERFORMED ON IT BEYOND NEW TIRES AND OIL CHANGES SO THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SPLICES IN THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE MAP SENSOR. I WAS ALSO TOLD IT IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS FORD'S CURRENT RECALL NUMBER 14S17 FOR 2013-2014 FORD ESCAPES; HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL DUE TO ITS MANUFACTURING DATE. APPARENTLY ADDITIONAL VEHICLES NEED TO BE ADDED TO THIS RECALL OR A NEW RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED AS THIS ISSUE CONTINUED ON MY FORD ESCAPE AND FORD HAS REFUSED TO FIX MY PROBLEM SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO THE NUMBER OF MILES, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. TWO TIMES MY LIFE WAS PLACED IN DANGER BECAUSE OF A RECALL I WAS NOT INFORMED OF. NOW FORD WHAT'S ME TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY DIDN'T GET FROM AUCTION I'M NOT PAYING FOR A CAR THAT NEARLY GOT ME KILLED TWICE AND I DON'T THINK THEY SHOULD PUT THIS AGAINST MY CREDIT. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES I BEGAN TO SEE FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD BY THE WINDSHIELD. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND A SHERIFF'S DEPUTY HAPPENED TO BE PULLING IN BEHIND ME AFTER SEEING MY CAR IN DISTRESS. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED. WITHIN FIVE TO TEN MINUTES THE ENGINE AREA OF THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. AFTER A SHORT INVESTIGATION ON THE SCENE THE FD BELIEVED THE CAUSE TO BE ELECTRICAL AND APPEARED TO HAVE BEGUN AND CAUSED THE MOST DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT CORNER OF THE ENGINE.

OCTOBER 5, 2016, I NOTICED THAT MY SUV WAS HESITANT TO START NORMALLY. AFTER INSPECTING MY BATTERY, A SMALL AMOUNT OF CORROSION WAS AGAIN PRESENT. ASSUMING THIS WAS MORE THAN A SIMPLE BATTERY ISSUE, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP ' BRANDON FORD IN TAMPA, FL. I EXPLAINED THE TECHNICIAN MY RECENT HISTORY WITH THE BATTERY AND SHOWED HIM THE PICTURES. I EXPLICITLY INFORMED HIM THAT I DID NOT WANT A 'BAND-AID FIX' FOR THIS ISSUE. AFTER HIS ASSESSMENT, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT HE WOULD CLEAN THE CONNECTIONS AND INSTALL ANTI-CORROSION PADS AND THAT WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE. ON DECEMBER 30 2016, I VISITED BRANDON FORD BECAUSE MY VEHICLE'S 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT HAD BEEN ILLUMINATED, AND THE SUV WAS EXPERIENCING STUTTERING WHILE DRIVING BOTH ON MY RESIDENTIAL STREET AND ON THE HIGHWAY. A BIT OF CORROSION WAS PRESENT AGAIN. THE FORD TECH CALLED ME AFTER DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM AND EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE AROUND $400 TO FIX THE ISSUE ' A POOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTION ' BY REPLACING THE ENGINE HARNESS SIGNAL RETURN SPLICES. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. NONETHELESS, I CHOSE TO COMPLETE THE SERVICE. ON FEBRUARY 9TH, I REACHED OUT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EXPLAIN MY ISSUE. I HAVE ATTACHED ALL CORRESPONDENCE TO AND FROM FORD. THEY DO NOT FEEL IT IS A WARRANTY OR MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I WISH TO HAVE THAT RE-EVALUATED.

I CAN NO LONGER SEE THE DISPLAY, WHICH IS COMPLETELY BLACK. THIS INCLUDES THE ODOMETER, IMPORTANT INDICATORS, AND WHAT GEAR THE CAR IS IN. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT OCCURRED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER THE CAR LEFT THE WARRANTY PERIOD BY DATE (>3 YEARS). WITH NO WAY TO READ THE ODOMETER, THIS MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SELL THE VEHICLE AT FAIR MARKET VALUE. THE NHTSA HAS ISSUED RECALLS ON THE MULTIPLE FUNCTIONAL DISPLAY FOR OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPES, HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. ONCE AGAIN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR OVER AN HOUR. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START. ALL DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS, RADIO, WINDOWS, ETC. WOULD FUNCTION, BUT NO INDICATION OF IGNITION WHEN KEY WAS TURNED. TRIED BOTH KEYS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT A BAD KEY. NEITHER KEY WORKED. LEFT CAR WHERE PARKED OVERNIGHT AND RETURNED IN THE MORNING. CAR STARTED. CALLED DEALER AND IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE THE CAR IN, RATHER THAN HAVE IT TOWED IN. I DID. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED LATER THAT DAY THAT THEY HAD BEEN ABLE TO VERIFY MY COMPLIANT. THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS A BUILD UP OF RESISTANCE IN A WIRE THEN THE ENGINE WAS HOT. IT WAS WRAPPED AND I WAS ASSURED THE I WOULD NO LONGER HAVE THE PROBLEM. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT SOME 2013-14 FORD ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR INSUFFICIENT COMPRESSION OF CASING AROUND THE WIRING, CAUSING EXACTLY THE PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN HAVING. ALL THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS LISTED IN THE RECALL, SHORT OF A POSSIBLE CRASH HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCED TO DATE! MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AT ONE OF THE AFFECTED ASSEMBLY PLANTS DURING THE AFFECTED DATES. HOWEVER, THE RECALL INDICATES 2.0 LITER ENGINES. MINE IS A 1.6 LITER ENGINE. THEREFORE, DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME AND ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN SOLVED. I REQUESTED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS BE REPLACED BECAUSE I FELT UNSAFE IN MY VEHICLE AND WAS AFRAID THAT IT WOULD STOP SUDDENLY AND I COULD CRASH. I WAS TOLD THAT REPAIR WAS NOT POSSIBLE, BECAUSE MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT RECALLED. I WAS ASSURED THAT I SHOULD HAVE NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW CAR - WITH OTHER CARS CLOSE BEHIND- SHIFT GEAR SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND APPLY BRAKE PEDAL SO THAT START-STOP BUTTON WOULD RESTART ENGINE. I HAVE HAD FORD DEALERSHIP CHECK KEYLESS START-STOP SYSTEM AND THEY INDICATE THAT SYSTEM WORKS AS IT SHOULD. START - STOP BUTTON IS LOCATED IN DRIVERS RIGHT KNEE AREA AND IS TWO INCHES FROM SIMILAR LOOKING CLIMATE CONTROL BUTTON. POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE LOST WITH ENGINE OFF AND CAR IN MOTION. THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE HAS A SOFTWARE/HARDWARE BUG IN WHICH THE INTERIOR INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMER DOES NOT RETAIN ITS MANUAL DIMMER SETTINGS. AFTER 20-30 MINUTES WITH THE VEHICLE POWERED OFF, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIMMER SETTING REVERTS TO MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS AUTOMATICALLY. MORE THAN AN INCONVENIENCE, THIS BUG IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. IF A DRIVER PERCEIVES THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO BE TOO BRIGHT, THE DRIVER MUST MANUALLY DIM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL EVERY TIME IT IS DARK ENOUGH THAT THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED TO DRIVE. FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE DESIGN BUG AT THIS TIME BECAUSE THEY DO NOT THINK IT BOTHERS ENOUGH CUSTOMERS. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE IF A DRIVER HAPPENS TO BECOME TIRED OF DIMMING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL EACH NIGHT OR IF THEY SIMPLY FORGET TO DIM THEM ONE TIME, THEY COULD BECOME UNWITTINGLY DISTRACTED BY THE INTERIOR BRIGHTNESS AND CAUSE A TRAFFIC INCIDENT. THE DASH LIGHTS WILL NOT DIM AUTOMATICALLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE MANUAL AS WELL AS FROM FORD TECHNICIANS. THEY ARE ON FULL BRIGHT ALL THE TIME. AN ANALOGY WOULD BE LIKE HAVING AN ONCOMING CAR HAVING ITS HEADLIGHTS ON HIGH BEAM AT NIGHT AND THEREFORE BE BLINDING. THERE IS A MANUAL OVERRIDE TO ADJUST BUT THIS MUST BE DONE EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED. I TALKED TO A FORD REP AND WAS TOLD, "NOTHING IS PERFECT, DEAL WITH IT".
