There's coolant intrusion in my engine due to - as best I can figure - a manufacturing defect that Ford acknowledges in their 2.0L EcoBoost engines (per TSB 22-2229), but NOT in their 1.5L and 1.6L EcoBoost engines (mine is a 1.6L and was produced in parallel with the 2.0L, though they later replaced it with a 1.5L). This is an acknowledged defect, plain and simple, and a safety issue because the engine can catastrophically fail during use due to it! The only fix is literally replacing the engine. Ford won't do anything because it's past the drivetrain warranty.

I have had coolant issues with this car for 7+ years. No matter what work I have done to it, it still looses coolant. I'm currently topping off the reservoir every 3-4 days. Pressure test does not find a leak but it must be going somewhere!! Within the past 3 months I have had: - heater hose replaced ($500+ at dealership) - valve cover gasket and turbocharger wastegate control solenoid replaced ($800+) - coolant tube and vac system replaced ($1000+ at dealership) I have had other extremely expensive repairs done over the years, including recalls, and the car still looses coolant somehow.

My car began to overheat and enter limp mode, when diagnosed the codes that appeared correlated directly with a safety recall issued in 2017. I brought my car to ford 2x to have them service the recall. I was given my car back, with the check engine light on and still overheating.i went to another dealership, who diagnosed my car again and I paid 712$ for a “water outlet connector “ and this did not resolve the issue. Ford decided to keep the car for 2 months, unable to diagnose the issue, they kept dropping it off to me and it would overheat… they towed it 2x back to the dealership for overheating after they drove 100+ miles on it. Instead of fixing the issue, they kept telling me it was not overheating and dropped it off to me with the check engine light on, the same codes, and overheating… stopping abruptly at high speeds. I brought it back to ford after it cut power at 50 mph with my daughter in it… Now I am being told, I have a cracked cylinder head and the recalled part has nothing to do with the cracked cylinder head … which was not cracked prior too all the repairs done. I was not informed that it was cracked, until November 6 2023. My car has been serviced since July 21st 2023. A cracked cylinder head, is a direct result of a faulty recalled part… which ford replaced a coolant level sensor and stand pipe to prevent this issue. It is not resolved. The estimated the repair at 5800$ and failed to give me any invoices. Refusing to work on my vehicle.

I have not had a recall for this matter. Recalled are 2014 Ford Escape. They can overheat due to lack of antifreeze. Lack of coolant circulation could cause the engine to overheat and experience a crack in the cylinder head. A cracked head can cause pressurized oil leaks, oil that can leak onto hot engines. There have been reported fires.

Vehicle continues to lose coolant. No visible leaks. Vehicle previously tested for coolant loss. Dealership performed pressure test. Tested satisfactory. Problem has persisted. FORD has issued a recall for coolant loss. Contacted FORD, told my vehicle is not on the recall list. My vehicle has the 1.6l ecoboost engine that has a known problem of coolant leaking into the cylinders. FORD customer service is unable to explain why my vehicle is not part of the recall, only saying my VIN is not part of the coolant recall. At some point my vehicle will suffer catastrophic engine failure or a fire. FORD has put coolant level sensors in vehicles with this engine. This does not solve the leaking problem, but at least monitors coolant level. My VIN strangely does not qualify for this.

THE CAR TAKES APPROXIMATELY 18-22 MINUTES TO ATTAIN A SAFE AND PROPER INSIDE VEHICLE TEMPERATURE. EVEN WITH A REMOTE START INSTALLED IT WILL USUALLY TWO STARTS FOR THE CAR TO REACH A TEMPERATURE THAT IS NOT DANGEROUS TO MY INFANT NEPHEW. I CAN NO LONGER PICK HIM UP WITHOUT WARMING CAR UP FOR HALF AN HOUR. I BROUGHT BACK TO FULLERTON FORD DEALERSHIP IN NJ AND WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] THAT HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS ESCAPE. HE WAS ABLE TO JUST GET ANOTHER CAR. THE AVERAGE PERSON LIKE MYSELF IS TOLD TO CONTACT FORD CORPORATE AND FILE A COMPLAINT. I ASKED IF IT WAS POSSIBLE TO GET ANOTHER FORD ESCAPE OR EDGE AD WAS TOLD BY SALES MANAGER [XXX] I WOULD LOOSE MY INITIAL DOWN PAYMENT OF 4000 DOLLARS, THEY ALSO SAID THEY WOULD NEED ANOTHER 4000 DOLLARS AND INCREASED PAYMENTS. NOTHING I CAN DO EXCEPT LEAVE CAR IN DRIVEWAY DURING WINTER AND MAKE PAYMENTS. THE SERVICE INVOICE CLEARLY STATES "NO FIX AVAILABLE". YET THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THIS VEHICLE TO GENERAL PUBLIC AND DUPE US. THE DEALERSHIPS THAT CONTINUE TO SELL THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE BOYCOTTED AND HELD RESPONSIBLE. THEY HAVE ALSO LIED ABOUT MPG ON STICKER. THEY CLAIM IT WILL BE BETWEEN 26-32 MPG. TOTAL LIE. THEY BLAMED THE WINTER FUEL MIXTURE. I TRIED A HIGHER OCTANE AND STILL HAVE NO SUCCESS. DUE TO COLD WEATHER, WALKED OUT AND STARTED CAR, RIGHT FOOT ON BRAKE, RIGHT INDEX FINGER ON STARTER BUTTON, LEFT FOOT ON OUTSIDE PARKING LOT AND LEFT HAND HOLDING CELL PHONE. AFTER STARTING CAR, CLOSED DOOR, WENT BACK INTO OFFICE FOR OVER 3-5 MINUTES, DID FIVE WEB SEARCHES BEFORE SISTER WHO WORKS IN OFFICE CAME IN TO MY OFFICE AND TOLD ME MY CAR HAD BACKED A PERFECT U, MISSED 6 VEHICLES PARKED OUTSIDE AND HIT OUR OFFICE BUILDING. MY CAR IS JUST THE DISTANCE OF THE SIDEWALK AND WALL PLUS A FEW FEET WITH WINDOW BETWEEN US, I HEARD THE CAR RUNNING WHILE IN OFFICE. WHEN I GOT TO CAR OUT SIDE IT WAS IN REVERSE, DOORS LOCKED AND IDLING, NO EXPLANATION OF HOW IT WENT FROM OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAN DIRECTION I PULLED IN, MISSED ALL VEHICLES. FORD SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR, I HAD THREE ADDITIONAL PEOPLE IN MY OFFICE PICTURES AND VIDEO OF TRACKS THAT ARE VERIFICATION THAT IT DID IT BY ITSELF, AS BEST WE CAN FIGURE THE PARK ASSIST TOOK OVER, HAD I ACCIDENTALLY KNOCKED IT INTO REVERSE IT WOULD HAVE STARTED BACKING UP WITH ME HALF IN AND HALF OUT OF THE CAR, ALSO AM SURE THAT IT WAS IN PARK AS CAN'T START IT IN REVERSE, I AM FRUSTRATED WITH THE DEALERSHIP HERE THAT IS NOT REALLY WILLING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, ALL THEY WILL TELL ME IS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON. I AM REQUESTING INFORMATION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY ANYONE ELSE AND WHERE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET FURTHER INFORMATION AS TO WHAT CAN BE CHECKED OUT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT MIGHT HAVE MADE IT START MOVING ON IT'S OWN. *TR
