My vehicle stalls while driving or after pumping fuel and I frequently have to "fart" it is the only thing I can describe it as. The opening to the fuel tank will start vibrating and making noises. If I do not pull over, the minute I let off the gas, it stalls out. In addition, when I pump gas, it takes 4-5 times to start it. It dies 3 or 4 times before it will turn over and I have to press the gas pedal and take off as soon as it starts so it doesn't die. I have been able to get it to stay running, but barely, when adding a small amount of fuel. It chugs and rpms go up while I'm pumping like it's about to die. If I put more than 10 dollars in, it dies while fueling and I get stranded. It's getting worse. I'm listing the date as today, but this started in 2023 or so and I bought the vehicle in 2017
Purchsed a 2014 Ford Escape Titanuim 1.6L Eco Boost in April of 2024. Since then, my vehicle has been to three different mechanics, one was a Ford dealership, because the sensor keeps coming on and coolant keeps leaking out. The first incident occured barely a week after the purchase and I've actually been stranded 2 out of the 3 times. In my research I've learned that Ford is aware of this issue, however, there's no recall on my vehicle.
I received a notification on the my dash and the car was diagnosed the codes came back Code: P018B and it states Fuel Pressure/ misfire. I've noticed the car misfiring prior to the dash light coming on and now it does it while I'm on the freeway or streets as if it's going to just stop which os very dangerous. This has to be a recall may 2014 ford vehicles are having this issue along with the coolant leak. This needs to be recalled
While doing oil change, I realized car has rear seal oil leak. Transmission experiences slippage in cold weather. Car has a very good maintenance record.
1# My fuel system is causing a problem My vehicle will not pass emissions it's been several tries of rejection. It is giving me recall syptoms and I know that this type of vehicle has had fuel issues recalled in the past. The sensors on the car are giving out codes that don't allow me to pass emissions and it's saying something about the( fuel system.) #2 I am having an issue with the electrical system in the radio it flares up and causes a deafening crackling noise and I have to pull over and turn the car off in order to shut the noise off sometimes the noise starts on its own when you're driving I have shut the car off and exit the vehicle only to hear the crackling noise coming from the electrical system while the car was off, at times I was afraid it would cause an electrical Fire! I feel I am having (recall issues )with this vehicle and because it is older the Ford motor company will not allow it to be inspected at one of their shops. I have contacted the better Business bureau where the Ford motor company is located in Michigan and they still do not want to help me. I cannot drive my car legally because it cannot pass emissions because of the fuel issue. Yes the engine light was on the dash back in November but the codes were cleared and it has not come back on but the vehicle still will not pass emissions. And I feel that Ford motor company does not want to assist me because there's no factory warranty anymore and the vehicle is older but that is not fair to the consumer it is still their vehicle and it is having recall problems even though the VIN# does not show it. I would like your assistance in anything you can help me with with this vehicle I feel so stuck at this point , still financing this suv. I uploaded a photo of the estimate repair bill over $2000 and the Emissions Reject paper from 11/24. Vehicles has failed since. Thank you! A few months ago, Engine coolant light came on and had more coolant added. Then the week after my card stopped in the middle of the road because the engine was over heating, I had to get it towed. Took it to mechanic and there was a hole and coolant leaking. My engine coolant light just came on again, requiring further inspection.
When after fueling the car it will not start. You have to pump the gas and hurry and put it in gear or it will die. When it gets below a full tank while driving the gas tank starts to vibrate releasing pressure if you are not giving it fuel it will die while you are driving down the road, several formus explain hundreds of people experience this very same issue and no recall it needs to be recalled before someone gets seriously hurt . Something is wrong with the pressure build up senor or parts not sure been dealing with this issue for ever and each part i have replaced has not fixed the issue
I purchased a 2014 Ford Escape last month. I thought Ford was a reputable company until I filled up my gas tank. Imagine my surprise when my car that I had only owned for two days, didn't start after getting gas. Thankfully a customer at the gas station told me he had the same problem and to rev the engine as I'm turning the ignition. Now every time I get gas, I have to rev the engine while trying to start the vehicle. Then after starting, I have to continue to give it gas so it won't die. It has died on me once while pulling out of the gas station because I hadn't given it enough gas to start with. After some research, I discovered that it is the canister purge valve that needs changed. Auto Zone confirmed this when they read the code for my check engine light. I couldn't find any recall info for that part despite the Ford Focus of the same year having one. My car warranty that I purchased doesn't cover it. This is a serious safety concern.
The car had a coolant leak which caused the car to overheat. The car is now leaking oil which has lead to oil leaking into the fuel.
I've had the Vapor Canister Purge valve replaced 3 times due to it causing the car to not start. Now I have a broken nipple on the bottom hose. I don't understand why there is a recall for the same problem on 2012-2018 Ford Focus 2.0 due to a potential malfunctioning Canister Purge valve. Ford Reference #18S32. I will now have to get it placed for the 4th time and also the part that the bottom hose attaches to. If it had been recalled and a proper fix in place then I wouldn't be going through this a 4th time. On that recall dealers will reprogram power train control module with new software that will detect a malfunctioning Canister Purge valve and prevent a potential excessive fuel vapor system vacuum condition from occurring. Dealers will inspect and replace the canister Purge valve, carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module, as necessary. There will be no charge for these services. Why aren't the 2014 Escapes with 2.0 engine being recalled as well? There are many Ford forums with the same Escape problem. When I ask the dealership its always sorry just save your receipts. For what when it doesn't run anymore. Do I get a medal for the most Purge Canister valve replacements. It is really a problem when you're stranded because after you fill up it won't start. I'm sure my car has the rest of the problems of the 2.0 Ecoboost recalls like leaking coolant. But what forever reason its always other models even though many have all the same issues as the lawsuits do.
I have maintained my vehicle as I always have with previous autos in the past. In 11/22 I had to replace the transmission, which left me 6k+ in debt. My auto is now seemingly going into limp mode for no reason whatsoever and just shutting off while driving. This almost caused an accident, there was NO forewarning of any mechanical issues prior to it doing this. The check engine light came on, rpm’s declined, tried to move to side of the road by pressing gas pedal with no acceleration. Shut car off, called a tow truck mechanic could not diagnose any problem. Since this first incident it has happened almost everytime I’ve driven it. This last time left me and my dog on side of road, unable to move to safe place due to no acceleration with gas pedal. My car is now leaking oil once parked, there’s oil all over hood and internal parts of car, auto is now spuddering with intermittent bursts of power. I’ve never had as many issues with a vehicle as I have with my ‘14 Ford escape ecoboost titanium suv. Upon researching common problems with this year and make this is a MAJOR COMMON ISSUE. For an auto to be “known” for these mechanical issues, these should be ALL covered by the manufacturer!! Transmission is a known issue, the deacceleration and oil leak issue once this issue starts are all known issues. Every mechanic I’ve either brought it to or discussed my issues tell me the same thing, “ oh yeah, that year is known for these issues” so what does one do, when they can’t afford a new vehicle , they owe more on the car due to the repairs? I’ve also needed to replace minimum of 5 headlight bulbs and tail light bulbs within the last 6 months. That’s not normal. Please advise
My vehicle has a severe oil leak, including leaks at the T valve, vacuum pumps, and transmission fluid. My local garage said this should be covered under the Ford Escape Oil Leak recall, but Ford said it is not. The Ford dealership in Bridgeport, CT, said they were unaware of any oil leak issues with the 2014 Escape, which was not part of the recall. They asked for $3000.00 to cover repairs and said they could not guarantee that the issue would be corrected entirely. My local garage said the vehicle should not be driven as the issue can cause the car to catch fire. I have seen many recalls on the Ford Escape for the problem below. Ford Escape Recall: Certain vehicles with 1.5L engines may have vulnerable engine oil separator housing that can crack and allow oil to leak. A fire can occur if fuel leaks onto an ignition source at high temperatures. Ford states that at least four drivers experienced car fires within five minutes of shutting down the engines in their vehicles. It is disappointing that Ford does not own up to this oil leak issue in their vehicles. I have had nothing but problems with my 2014 Ford Escape. The repair costs are incredibly high. I am making car payments on a vehicle that I can no longer drive due to the dangers of a possible car fire. In addition, Ford knows this is an issue but has not issued a recall for my Ford 2014 vehicle. This is very disheartening as it shows they do not value the safety and lives of their customers. I would appreciate it if this can be looked into further,
My car has 15 recalls. I was only notified of 2. According to one of the letters I received It states that repairs were done but not completed and that is a lie. I have never had any recall work done, mainly because the first letter said they didn't have parts. I was only made aware of the latest 2 and no work has ever been done that I am aware of nor have I ever been notified until recently. So why are they saying work was done when I know it wasn't? One of the recalls says my car should not be driven for safety reasons. How can they be trusted? I know the repairs were not done even though the letter says it has been done. How can they claim it was fixed, when I know for a fact it wasn't. What can I do to prove they are lying? Shouldn't there be records? I would love to see these records. Hello -- 1) My wife explained to me that the acceleration would rev very high on rpms but no power -- ( 1st & 2nd especially) then the check engine light came on -- I drove it to check and there was something very wrong -- unfortunately I could find no dealers w\o a full months wait or more -- Then on the Friday after Thanksgiving she came home & said she had no brakes -- I take it for a ride to investigate -- sure enough the vacuum booster failed -- like driving w manual brakes in the old days & u still need to use the emergency brake -- It failed as she drove (no idea) til she needed to stop -- fortunately we live in a rural area and she had space and time to try to figure out what happened -- otherwise there would have been at the least a deadly car crash from behind -- When the accelleration fails there will be death from being broadsided entering traffic -- what a choice !!!! -- Also it might not seem too big a deal but the A\C condensate drain line plugs up and there will be 2" of water on floor inside the cab on both sides -- I had to finally fix it because i couldnt take it anywhere because -- no parts -- too busy -- UNFORTUNATELY THE PERSON WHO DRIVES THIS VEHICLE HAS ASTHMA -- THE MOLD AND MILDEW WERE UNREAL -- How are there no recalls on these life altering situations ?? I work for this company and I'm thoroughly disgusted. The date for A\C & turbo was in August -- the failed brakes is the date below -- I just got the vehicle back today and the brakes work because of replacing vacuum booster -- then the dealer wouldnt read my notes and car still does what they charged me $1450 for -- westgate solenoid -- boost solenoid -- NOW -- BECAUSE OF THEIR DESIGN -- FORDS -- NOT ONLY DID I SPEND THAT MONEY FOR NOTHING -- THEY WANT TO REPLACE MOTOR & TURBO FOR ONLY $11500 -- ONLY 82000 MILES !!!! I do have bills from the dealer -- just no way to upload right now -- if u need them they can be uploaded in the next couple of days --
The car announced a low coolant in the system and then 10 seconds after the car turn on fire and burned down completely.
*coolant level stand pipe and sensor. *the car just start doing the overheating while I was on the highway and the car just slow the running while I was there. *yes I bring the car to and authorize ford dealer. *no *yes a warning light saying that the coolant level was low but the coolant was full. Is being and issue since I buy the car. I bring it to the dealer where I buy it twice and they say they fix it. But because the car broke down because the transmission went down I didn’t notice that the problem never being fix. Until I take the car out of the transmission shop. And still have the same issue now is not running. *so the car is just shaking and slow down because it says the engine is overheating
There was already a recall for the fuel pump and it was completed however it is now doing the same thing. This means there will be a loud noise and then the engine will stall. It has been so scary when other cars are around because it won’t start back up for a little while. If I turn off the engine when pumping gas it won’t start back up. I don’t have the money to keep fixing things on this piece of junk!
This vehicle was purchased by an “Authorized Dealer “ on August 31st 2023. I was unaware of the many issues that this vehicle had. Within the first few hours of driving off the lot in this car, I put the car in reverse and for one the back up camera stalled, secondly, a message appeared stating the camera is unavailable and for me to contact the dealer. Well I did, I contacted Five Star Ford and was told $165 just for a diagnostic. Additionally, I was driving on the highway Sept. 9th and the car just began to lose power. I literally was pedal to the metal trying to get home in hopes that this vehicle didn’t give out on me. Shortly after that, the check engine light came on and as I accelerated, this rough noise seemed as though it was getting louder and louder. Last but not least, this car drinks gas likes it’s going out of style. The overall mileage is bogus. According to the odometer after having this car for 11 days, I had supposedly put 1,000 miles on this vehicle!!!! That’s absurd to me!! I haven’t been out of the town or anything. I’ve watched the odometer jump from 120812 to 120837 after only traveling about 2 and half miles. Like what’s going on with this these faulty transmissions in these cars, FORD! What are you doing about it??? People work hard to purchase a car for them and their family. Why make our lives more difficult with these faulty vehicles??!!
While driving the vehicle, the car will stall without any warning. The oil light will display, as well as the check engine light, but only after the car shuts down and is not operational. This has occurred at least 4-5 times in the past year or so, the most recent 2 weeks ago. The stalls occur while the vehicle is in motion, and there is no prior warning given. The car has been hooked up to a code reader, which displayed the code P0087, which is a Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low. If we let the car set for a few hours, it will start up and be operational, but then will stall out again with no warning. We took the car to a Ford Dealership in Trinidad, CO, and the technician said he assumed it was a low fuel pressure sensor, which he replaced, but stated that he only suspected that was the problem since he could not get a code to come up at that time. After the sensor was replaced, the car has continued to stall out while being driven. I called Ford to ask if my car was part of a fuel system recall, they stated my vin was not listed, although my vehicle was manufactured within the time frame of two, 2014 Ford Escape fuel system issue recalls. The safety of myself and my family are put at risk every time the car stalls out because we have been traveling on the interstate and have almost been hit by other vehicles due to not being able to accelerate or have time to pull off to the shoulder immediately, We have also been crossing through intersections with heavy traffic when the car will stall out without warning, which has led to near collisions. My vehicle is available upon request for inspection.

The car is no longer drivable. I have an earlier reference number 11526542. When I called at that time I was unaware of the actual problem. In 2019 I had taken the car to Future Ford for a coolant problem. They stated in paper work there was no leak in the coolant but more coolant needed to be added. I return to have oil changed and ask them to add coolant. They refused. I went to Green Valley Tire and brake and they refused. Thought that was weird. Went to Auto Zone Folsom and bought coolant and added myself. Future Ford still stating no problem. I had purchased a 7 year waranty on the car and a plan were they did all the service. The car was only serviced by Ford Dealer. I have just recently learned that there is an issue with the Ford 2014 Escape Eco Boost System. I am not a mechanic but from what I understand coolant goes into the engine. Maybe a head casket blows out. It then causes car to overheat. Coolant intursion present. Future Ford recomends replace engine block per Future Ford. Was told just tempory fix likely will happy again. Design flaw. Dangerous not sure when it will occur and then car undrivable. Overheats could cause fire. Should be under lemon law. Car only has 55,000 miles on it. Attached estimate of $16,000 to fix by Future Ford. Also said their was a recall on coolant in 2019 but Ford Corporate said it did not show on my Vin #. Your system does not show it .
When driving vehicle on highway it slows down then have to push on gas pedal to exelarate like it sputters then shuts off. Dashboard says Engine Failure park vehicle immediately very frustrating!! I’m about to file a lawsuit if this doesn’t get taken care of!
The Escape in question has a reoccurring issue with the canister purge valve causing gas tank burping and rough engine idle. Mechanic replaced said item a couple of years ago and the problem has reoccured. There is a recall for a Ford Focus with the same year as This Ford Escape 2014. Should not this vehicle be repaired in the same manner by the dealer as the Ford Focus Recall? My mechanic also noted there is a TSB for this Ford Escape 2014 acknowledging Ford has updated the parts for repair to solve the know canister purge valve issue. Replacing the parts for a second time seems unfair and costing twice as much to resolve the same issue with an updated part. Frustrated 🥴 Update: Since composing the above information the cars condition has become more in need of repair. The 2014 Ford Escape is idling rougher, the gas tank flapper is burping while the car is running and the car is randomly stalling. These conditions correlate with a current safety recall for the Ford Focus of the same year 2014.
UNKNOWN SSM 48397 SSM 48397 - 2013-2015 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC - 1.6L GTDI, 1.5L GTDI, Or 2.0L GTDI With DTC P00C6, P0087, P008A, P008B, P018C, Or P018D - FLP Sensor Available Some 2013-2015 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC with a 1.6L GTDI, 1.5L GTDI, or 2.0L GTDI may exhibit a lack of power, loss of power, or stall when placed in gear with DTCs P00C6, P0087, P008A, P008B, P018C, or P018D. If normal diagnosis leads to a biased or failed Fuel Low Pressure (FLP) sensor, the sensor is available without the need to order the entire fuel line assembly. The FLP sensor, located on the fuel supply line to the high pressure pump, provides the low side fuel pressure input to the PCM so the Fuel Driver Module can be controlled accordingly. The FLP PID can be viewed in the Datalogger and then compared to a manual pressure gauge per pinpoint test HC in the PCED to validate the sensor is working properly. The Fusion/MKZ catalog has been updated to show the sensor availability.
This is ongoing issue that Ford is aware of, has been addresses by previous recall related to thermostat sensor. However this does not fix the issue that the car over heats loses all coolant automatically shuts down when driving. This car has been been serviced beginning in 2019 to now with the same problem. Yes all receipts, mileage diagnosis etc have been maintained. I have had hoses replaced 3 times am now on the 4th time (Just 6 weeks later). Car overheated on I294 tristate had to be towed 30 miles December 2022. Currently have my 2nd open case with FORD as they know the ECO boost is a major cause and are facing several class action lawsuits they disregard the fact that someone will be killed by their irresponsible disregard of the known problem. Well into the thousands to address a bandaid and not fix the root cause of the engine/hose/coolant overheating problems

I have twice repaired a canister purge valve and the line that goes with it. I am having to replace it a 3rd time from the same problem that is a recall in the Ford Focus with the same engine. The first thing it does is not start after putting gas then the engine light comes on which caused me to be stuck at the gas station. I have the receipt for the 2nd time it was repaired and the parts were purchased from Jordan Ford in San Antonio both times and I'm going to have to purchase the parts again plus the repair. This should be a recall as other people who own the same Escape have the same problem.
There is already an NHTSA Campaign on this specific issue: It is ID: 15V005000. My specific vehicle was manufactured at the Louisville plant in June of 2014 so just a month following the Ford Escape covered under this specific recall mentioned above. The car just stalls or shuts off completely. It does it inconsistently. It may do it while parked. It may do it while driving. It did it 3 times yesterday, but it may not do it again for another 2 weeks. I have taken it to 2 mechanics that tell me that there are "no codes" coming up on code readers so they do not know what to repair. I just happened across the information on the recall for the fuel pump mentioned above. The more I read about it, it absolutely sounds like the same thing going on my my 2014 Ford Escape that was manufactured the very next month in the same plant. My college age daughter drives this vehicle to and from school so I am VERY concerned. Is there a way to check the actual fuel pump number or something to see if it was one of the defective fuel pumps? We are meeting with the mechanic today to see about having the fuel pump replaced.
First, my car had not a drop of antifreeze after driving two hours. Secondly, a week later, I was driving home routinely and began to drive forward when my car’s RPM’s went up very high and the car would not move as I was on a busy highway. Strangely, the vehicle had just had the transmission recall repair for the transmission bushing shifting cable a few weeks earlier. So although we he car was in drive it was not shifting. I turned the car off and on. Then the car did the same thing again and a message stating “transmission service” appeared on the dash board. I had to jump out of the car and run to the side of the road for safety as I broke down on a busy highway near my home. It was very scary.

The fuel pump was a recall that I had fixed in 2018 however I am again having the same issue. They tell me since the part was previously replaced it would be my responsibility to pay the 800.00 for yet another fuel pump. Typically a fuel pump lasts roughly 100,000 miles but apparently ford products are the exception!! Poor customer service from the ford dealer who originally replaced and absolutely no help! When I put gas in my vehicle it won’t start if I turn it off. Now is is dying while driving down the highway which could be detrimental to everyone involved.
Engine shutoff in the middle of a busy road after having vehicle for 3 days.
purge valve failed. car stalled with no warning in traffic at lights in busy intersection in the dark. I was stranded alone in winter thirty miles from home in the country. Finally a man assisted to push the car on a side road. Waited another hour alone for tow to Landmark Ford in Tigard Oregon. Dealer stated purge valve failed. Paid $700 to fix plus $250 for rental car. Found exact problem on Ford recall 18S32 Ford Focus same model years and engine type as my escape. Ford corporate stated they didn't issue a recall on the Escape because they didn't think it was a problem. This is a known issue with Ford Focus. Why wasn't a recall issue for the Escape?
Lights come on for engine and gas pump while in motion throws vehicle to right at 55 mph when gas light comes one says empty all the time does at stops too slams into next gear shaking car badly with a bang it does often enough at 1/2 tank only or below but does not read more than 1/8 tank from full when filling up at pump all the time
Vehicle stalls many times while driving usually after starting vehicle and take off . Check engine light came on there was a code for fuel pump or fuel pressure. Looks like there may be a recall on my vehicle as well unsure as to next steps, I dont want to get in a accident need fixed asap
A common issue on these Ford Escapes (Mine is a 2014) are the canister purge valve sticks open , causing the fuels vapors to enter engine while fueling. This essentially floods the engine when fueling. It also throws a check engine light and runs lean. I have seen hundreds of issues which the Ford Escapes and nothing has been done about it . This should be covered under the emissions defect warranty but the part is not listed. The weird part is this same exact issue is listed under numerous recalls for different models such as the Ford Focus. I have no idea why Ford is not acknowledging this issue on the Escape ,especially on the 1.6 EcoBoost engine - which is a PAIN to change the canister purge valve. Hopefully Ford fixes this and sends recalls to everyone affected.

IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING SLOW THE CAR STALLS SUDDENLY. I HAVE TO RE-START THE CAR

CAR DASH BOARD ELECTRICAL WIRING HAS GONE BAD. ORIGINALLY THE INFORMATION ON SCREEN WAS FADING AND AFTER ABOUT A MONTH NO LONGER SHOWS ANY INFORMATION. FORD STATED THE ENTIRE PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, INVOLVING RE-READING ENGINE MILEAGE AND PROGRAMMING KEYS AGAIN FOR $700. DID NOT GET THAT FIXED AS IT'S NOT A NECESSITY. DRIVER WINDOW MOTOR FAILED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS UP. NOW THE ENGINE HAS BEEN READING A TURBO ISSUE BUT IT CANNOT BE DETERMINED IF IT'S THE ACTUAL TURBO BOOST OR THE WASTE GATE. THIS LEAD TO TRANSMISSION SKIPPING AND ULTIMATELY STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND THEN CITY ROADS AND HAVING TO RESTART CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT HOME AND THEN TOWED THE CAR TO LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP WHO STATED TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $4500. ALONG WITH A FUEL LINE ISSUE THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED 2 YEARS PRIOR AND AGAIN UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHY THE TURBO SENSOR CODE IS POPPING UP. CAR IS USED FOR TYPICAL DAILY DRIVING WITH CHILDREN AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE/YEAR BUT NOT ON MY SPECIFIC VIN THOUGH THEY ARE SIMILAR ISSUES. THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE IS MORE THAN IT IS WORTH AND I'M VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THE LONGEVITY OF IT. I WAS NEVER MAILED ANY RECALLS. THE FORD CO FOUND RECALLS AND I TOOK IT TO THEM ON 3/11/2020. NOTE THAT THEY DID NOT OFFER ME A LOANER CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RECALL WORK . I PICKED IT UP THE SAME DAY AND TWO DAYS LATER, IT OVERHEATED YET AGAIN. I CALLED FORD CO AND SPOKE TO JATOYA AND JAMIE. ON MARCH 17,2020, IT STALLED AND THEN STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO FORD CO AND THEY STATED IT HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES THAT WOULD COST ME $6,700.60 TO REPAIR! THEY REPLACED THE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR AND A LEAK. I WAS LUCKILY DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOME SO I MANAGED TO GET IT BACK TO MY HOUSE, BUT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A THIRD TIME. THEY DIDN'T MAKE ANY NOTES ON THAT VISIT SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED BUT WHEN I PICKED IT UP THEY STATED I NEEDED TO PAY FOR SERVICES BECAUSE THEY NOTICED A LEAK IN MY HEATER HOSE AND THE SERVICE WAS GOING TO COST OVER $3000! MY CAR WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE TAKING IT IN FOR A RECALL. 2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH 88K MILES EXPERIENCED AMBER AND THEN RED SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT IN LESS THAN 12 HOUR PERIOD. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TRANSMISSION WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT GEARS, CAUSING A HAZARDOUS SITUATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ENGINE RPM WOULD RACE CLOSE TO MAXIMUM AND CAR WOULD NOT MAINTAIN SPEED. DRIVER SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. FORD OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. FORD HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON CARS WITH SIMILAR TRANSMISSION, BUT NOT ON THE ESCAPE. TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP LOT AND OVERFLOW LOT WAS FULL OF FORD ESCAPES THAT NEEDED TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. ULTIMATELY, MESSAGE APPEARED WARNING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY. OVERHEATED ENGINE COMPLETELY MELTED A BRACKET. MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A BURNT-OUT SENSOR BUT COULD NOT SAY WHY IT HAPPENED. I SECURED TWO DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTICS. FIRST CONDUCTED COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC AND CONCLUDED A WASTE GATE WAS STUCK OPEN; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR. SECOND SAID THE DEGAS BOTTLE WAS CRACKED AND DECLINED TO PERFORM PRESSURE TEST; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR OR WASTE GATE ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD ALL THESE RANDOM REPAIRS AND IN ANY CASE, DO NOT FEEL THIS CAR CAN BE PUT INTO A SAFE CONDITION FOR DRIVING.

A YEAR LATER IN FEBRUARY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY 2/26- I SAY 2/19. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, THEY REPAIRED THAT. A RECALL ON OWN COOLANT VALVE WAS FIXED BY DEALER. NOW IN THE BEGINNING OF MARCH THE WATER PUMP AND ENGINE PROBLEM HAS COME BACK. IF FILL THIS MODEL OF 2014 FORD ESCAPE IS A LEMON AND I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR ALL MY INCONVENIENCE. IT BEEN NOTHING BUT A MONEY DRAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP IS ROBBING ME. I TOOK IT UP THERE TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY SAID MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE TOLD ME THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE FIX AND IT WILL COST $1,300 AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY THAT BEFORE THE CAN LOOK AT HEAD GASKET. TO MUCH TO PAY AND THERE CHARGING A SERVICE FEE WHICH IS OK BUT THE NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A STORAGE FEE. I HAD A TRIP SCHEDULE FOR DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. SHE TOLD ME THEY LEFT A MESSAGE DAYS AFTER BUT NEVER RECEIVED IT. I ASKED IF THEY CAN WAVE THE STORAGE FEE AND I'LL PAY THE REST BUT WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T DO SO. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE MANAGER AND WAS TOLD HE WON'T BE BACK UNTIL MONDAY AND IT FRIDAY. CALLED CORPORATE THEY WERE NO HELP AT ALL. I WAS SAFELY ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AND NO PROBLEMS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE HOME.

START IT BACK UP, START DRIVING, VEHICLE STALLS WITHIN 30 SECONDS TO ONE MINUTE. RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD BUCK AND STALL REPEATEDLY. IF YOU LET IT COOL DOWN, IT WOULD RUN FOR A LENGTH OF TIME BEFORE IT WOULD ACT UP ALL OVER AGAIN WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED STEPS REPEATED. HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP (AUTONATION FORD - BRADENTON FL) FOR ALMOST 3 FULL MONTHS AS THEY TRIED TO FIND THE ISSUE, IN 4 SEPARATE TRIPS. EACH TIME THEY WERE CONFIDENT THAT THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. 1ST WAS A LOSE WIRE ON THE MECHANICAL FUEL PUMP. NOT FIXED. DROVE FOR 1.5 WEEKS. SHE NOTES THAT THE FUEL SENSORS IN THE CAR AREN'T INJECTING FUEL INTO THE ENGINE WHEN SHE ACCELERATES FROM A STOP, MEANING THE CAR WILL STICK IN NEUTRAL AND REV UNTIL IT KICKS BACK IN GEAR. SHE NOTES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO KELLER BROS. FORD WHICH IS WHERE SHE PURCHASED IT, AND THEY COULDN'T COME UP WITH THE PROBLEM. SO THEN WE WENT TO NEW HOLLAND FORD, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE GUY EVEN SHOWED MY MOM HOW TO RESET THE FUEL SENSOR. BUT THE PROBLEM CAME BACK UP AGAIN. MY MOM, I, AND HER BOYFRIEND ARE AT THE POINT WHERE IF SOMETIME THE CAR HESITATES, AND SOMEONE HITS HER, SHE'S GOING TO BE KILLED. FORD, YOU NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. IT ACCELERATED BETTER THAN IT DID BEFORE SO I'M NOT SURE IF SOMETHING WAS ADJUSTED. OF COURSE IT HAS COME BACK. IT HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE IT AND MY SON TOLD ME IT JERKED A LOT WHEN HE DROVE IT LAST NIGHT. AT A STOPLIGHT OR WHLE MOVING AT A DECENT PACE (ABOUT 20-40MPH), THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY REV TOWARDS 4000-5000 AND NOT DROP INTO DRIVE. THIS HAD CONCERNED ME ALOT. MOM CALLED KELLER BROS. FORD HERE IN LITITZ, PENNSYLVANIA, AND SAID THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO TAKE HER CAR DOWN FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE UPDATE FIXED EVERYTHING. NO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. AND SINCE THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE, I'VE NOTICED A HUGE DIFFERENCE. IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS MORE HORSES IN MY MOM'S CAR THAN THERE WAS BEFORE THE UPDATE. THE UPDATE HAPPENED 4-6 MONTHS AGO. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE STRONG GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED COMING INSIDE THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED AFTER BEING WARMED UP. STILL UNDER WARRANTY WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY REPLACED A SHORT SECTION OF FLEXIBLE MANIFOLD HOSE THAT HAD DEVELOPED A CRACK. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE RETURNING. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SAME HOSE. THE REPAIR LASTED ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH OR SO. THE THIRD TIME IT WAS SERVICED THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE HOSE BUT WRAPPED IT WITH SILICONE DUCT TAPE TO SEAL IT. THIS REPAIR LASTED LESS THAN A WEEK. AGAIN GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARS THAT THE FORD COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
