This vehicle has had a bad electrical problem where it makes a real bad clicking noise and sometimes it doesn't turn off the radio also the radio doesn't turn on at times. The major problem is it has not passed emissions for almost a year it gives out bad sensor readings and clearing the code so I can pass emissions don't help it comes back on. I have tried to let Ford know that this car is having recall issues . I have had a purge valve put on it but it's still it's not capable of passing the emissions because the sensors at all Ford dealerships said they can reset the sensors but they want me to pay I don't think that is fair to me because these are recall issues that I'm having! even though it's older .I think it's only fair to have it analyzed at a Ford dealership free of charge.. I'm paying car notes and I cannot even drive the vehicle safely now it's leaking antifreeze if you check the past recalls on 2014 Ford escapes there were fuel injector problems and that's probably why it cannot pass emissions so I need this recall handled properly thank you.

The backup camera works only intermittently. I see there are already recalls on the 2015/16 models. 2014 should be included also. I contacted the dealership and Ford Customer Service and they say I have to pay out of pocket.

Backup camera frequently stops working. It displays a black screen (that sometimes includes a message stating to contact the dealer), stays on the main screen, turns the displayed image upside down, or the image may scroll/flash.

Coolant leak at the 3 way heater hose going to the heater core. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about leaks at the quick connect and nothing being done about it. Ford made a replacement part thats upgraded. I believe they should be replacing the defected parts with the new one. They knew this was an issue for some time now and refuse to take care of the problem.

The rear camera has worked intermittently for the last several years. I am aware that the 2015 Ford Escape was included in the recall for rear camera issues, but mine is a 2014 and has the exact same issue.

Whenever I got the vehicle at the middle of 2025 I had issues with the shocks hub assembly axle motor mount electrical issues trunk was opening and closing by itself. Recent recently I drive it to Savannah and the vehicle started to skip and would not switch gears while I was driving down a 70 mph Road. I almost wrecked due to an issue with the vehicle I have looked up the recalls that hasn't been repaired on the vehicle and I believe it has something to do with unrepair recalls or maybe there is a recall that wasn't found or reported because I've seen a lot of recall information about the transmission. I also had a incident with the door unlocking and locking while my nephew was in the vehicle after stepping out the doors automatically locked but I still had the driver door open. My nephew freaked out cuz he can't get out the vehicle. The vehicle has some other issues that I do not know how to explain and if there is any possible way that the unrepared recalls has something to do with the repairs that the vehicle need now then I would like something done immediately. There is 19 recalls on a 2014 Ford escape. Now out of those 19 only two have been reported for my VIN number but I believe due to the car being sold five different times within a short period of time no one had the time to actually report the issues wrong with the vehicle I think people were just trying to get rid of it because they knew something was wrong with it.

Why is a vehicle rear view camera not listed as one of the "Problem Parts" above? I reported twice in previous years that the rear view camera on this vehicle intermittently fails and is an ongoing safety issue. Please add 2014 Escapes to your recent recall notice to safeguard this owner and the public.

For years the rear back up camera has failed to engage or turns on and off intermittently when the vehicle is put in reverse. This can lead to a potentially hazardous driving issue which could lead to property damage or potentially in the extreme loss of life. There are recalls for exactly this same issue on literally millions of similar Ford vehicles, but they refuse to acknowledge this issue and fix it for the 2014 Ford Escape Thank you

Purchsed a 2014 Ford Escape Titanuim 1.6L Eco Boost in April of 2024. Since then, my vehicle has been to three different mechanics, one was a Ford dealership, because the sensor keeps coming on and coolant keeps leaking out. The first incident occured barely a week after the purchase and I've actually been stranded 2 out of the 3 times. In my research I've learned that Ford is aware of this issue, however, there's no recall on my vehicle.

I purchased the car in April 2023, a few days later the sensor light came on and coolant leaked out and I was stranded. I took it to my local Ford dealership and they "repaired it". About a month ago the same thing happened and I was stranded. Got it towed to a mechanic, was told it's been repaired, a couple of weeks later the sensor came back on, but I was able to make it to the mechanic before I was stranded. He put a mark on the reservoir and told me to add more coolant if it got before that line. I shouldn't have to keep doing this.

Backup camera went blank. The screen said camera not available contact dealer. This was about a month ago. It took a week to get an appointment at the dealer to get it checked. I had to replace the camera. It cost almost $900. On several occasions as I backed out there were cars and people I could not see until they were very near to my car. I saw there is a recall for cameras starting with the 2015 models. I think it should be extended to 2014. My car only had 44000 miles on it when the camera went.

Rear view camera only operates intermittently. Most of the time it comes up with a message that says camera unavailable, and then goes to a blank screen. I was surprised and disappointed that this vehicle was not included in the massive Ford rear camera recall that was just issued

The rear back up camera routinely appears upside down, in readable lines, a blue screen, or unable to get camera image. Inconsistent and a engine reset makes camera available again. Loss of camera could result in increased backover, crash and injury risk. Able to reproduce every time I reverse for now than 30 seconds or when I shift to reverse then drive then reverse again. A similar recall had been issued for other Ford vehicles 2015 and newer.

Rear view camera quit functioning appropriately on 09/05/25. The dash displayed the message “Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership.” Since the first incident of the camera not functioning, the camera functions intermittently, more often not functioning. No one other than the vehicle owners have confirmed the camera error.

1. My backup cameral is malfunctioning. 2. I use it for visual safety when I put my car in reverse. 3. The back up camera either does not work or it shows the image upside down. It has not been confirmed by a dealership because it is easy to identify by me. 4. No, it has not been inspected by anyone else. On line, the 2014 Ford Escape Titanium has been identified with these issues however, for some reason my VIN (vehicle) is not on the list for recall. 5. My camera first started malfunctioning about a year ago. I can not have it looked at except at my expense which does not seem appropriate since others of the same year, make and model have been recalled due to the same issue.

My car loses power, I’ll go to get in interstate or just pull out of somewhere and I’ll press the gas and it’ll barely go. I’ve almost got hit multiple times. I take it to have it looked at and all I get is they can’t seem to see the problem but it’s there and extremely dangerous. After talking to several people apparently ford escapes are known for this problem yet ford doesn’t want to acknowledge there faulty parts. I have two small kids and this is dangerous and going to kill people

1# My fuel system is causing a problem My vehicle will not pass emissions it's been several tries of rejection. It is giving me recall syptoms and I know that this type of vehicle has had fuel issues recalled in the past. The sensors on the car are giving out codes that don't allow me to pass emissions and it's saying something about the( fuel system.) #2 I am having an issue with the electrical system in the radio it flares up and causes a deafening crackling noise and I have to pull over and turn the car off in order to shut the noise off sometimes the noise starts on its own when you're driving I have shut the car off and exit the vehicle only to hear the crackling noise coming from the electrical system while the car was off, at times I was afraid it would cause an electrical Fire! I feel I am having (recall issues )with this vehicle and because it is older the Ford motor company will not allow it to be inspected at one of their shops. I have contacted the better Business bureau where the Ford motor company is located in Michigan and they still do not want to help me. I cannot drive my car legally because it cannot pass emissions because of the fuel issue. Yes the engine light was on the dash back in November but the codes were cleared and it has not come back on but the vehicle still will not pass emissions. And I feel that Ford motor company does not want to assist me because there's no factory warranty anymore and the vehicle is older but that is not fair to the consumer it is still their vehicle and it is having recall problems even though the VIN# does not show it. I would like your assistance in anything you can help me with with this vehicle I feel so stuck at this point , still financing this suv. I uploaded a photo of the estimate repair bill over $2000 and the Emissions Reject paper from 11/24. Vehicles has failed since. Thank you! Driving along at 60 mph suddenly my car stops going in heavy traffic and won't move,, then it accelerated to high RPMS and was stuck, then it hard shifted into gear and it lundged forward fast and went about 5 feet then it wouldn't move. Almost got killed on a busy hwy. because of it accelerating on its on out into traffic while it was in park, then just came to a dead stop. The only way I can describe is it was not moving in park, then it was like it shifted by itself and lundged forward and stoped like it was slammed into park from a high speed but it did it this on it's own while the shifter was in park. It took off again and I drove it to the side of the hwy, and turned it off. Called and got a friend who has a trailer to come tow me. I Cranked my car to see if it would move to get it on the trailer. I Slowly drove it up on the ramps and got about half way up, then it stopped wouldn't move again, still in drive it rolled back down the ramps on its own, I was just sitting there and it was idling was like the rpms were higher than normal so I shut it off for a minute. Got back in it cranked it up put it in drive and it wouldn't move, put in in reverse it backed up but it was revved up and shifted hard, so I put it back in park and it spit and spuddered so I shifted to neutral an then car just shifted into drive and took off on it's on and drove up missing the ramps and ran into the back of his trailer, crushing my front end. Then it wouldn't move again. Winched it on the trailer, got home and it drove to get it off the trailer, but I'm terrified to drive it.

Ford recall 17S09 indicates back up camera malfunction indicating not working. My Ford Escape fits the year make and model, currently having that exact issue with a not working malfunctioning back up camera. Ford refuses to allow my VIN to be included into that recall repair even though it fits the parameters of the recall. Indicating the fault has to come from the NHTSA.

I saw that there is a current recall dealing with the cooling system on the Escape. My car has been over heating saying engine fault for the past two months. There now appears to be coolant in the engine.

In April of 2021, my 2014 Ford Escape began to die on take off and my Service Engine light came on. They removed and replaced the coolant reservoir. I took my car back to the dealer because it continued to run hot. I was told that they found nothing wrong. In October of 2022, the Surge Valve was replaced. In November of 2022, it was recalled for the Shifter Cable Bushing and a protective cap. That was replaced as well as a valve cover gasket. On August 9, 2024, it was diagnosed has needing a fuel pump because it would die upon take off. My car continued to die upon takeoff. I was told then that it was the fuel injectors and to run premium gas through it and to try using a different key fob because the computer was showing a problem with the ignition. On October 28, 2024, I brought my car to the dealer because it would still die upon take off. It also sounded like it was idling rough. My CD player would accept and eject the CD, but would not play. I asked that the whole car be looked over to see if there was anything else that needed attention. The following was the diagnosis," coolant bypass valve connector burnt and valve also burnt in connection; found the coolant bypass valve is distorted." They replaced the coolant bypass and coolant bypass valve connector pig tail. The following was also diagnosed, "found the front audio control module has an internal fault; the bottom engine cover damage; found passenger side rear wheel well hanging; removed and replaced spark plugs and coils boots." I declined service for the CD player, the bottom engine cover and the rear wheel guard due to the cost to repair. The following was also on the invoice, "accessed diagnostic port and performed scan to find trouble code P26B7 which is related to Coolant Bypass." My car still dies upon take off. I have faithfully taken care of this car, having oil changes and multi-point inspections done every 3000 to 5000 miles. I cannot afford a new car at this time.

I have had the same AC Line replaced in my car on six different occasions by three different mechanics. Part number: CV6Z19D742F. Today I was told by Ford that it is just a faulty/bad part design and there’s not much I can do short of getting a new car. Very disappointed this is the answer I got after spending nearly $1,000 on fixing this problem.

I know there was a cyber-attack, it is all very bad timing. Disclaimer. I did educate myself. Door latch broke on rear drivers side and currently 6/22/2024 my door will not close and it's being held shut with ratchet straps. It did not have a warning beforehand, just a rattle. I thought the rattle was another issue but it wasn't. I was told by my mechanics during inspection there was a recall, also my car insurance. Granted I didn't immediately jump on it. My mother owned the car before me, she took the letters to a Ford Dealership in Barre/Montpelier, she was completely dismissed. After I took the car over a few years ago, I got a couple letters but nothing in the last year. I do take my part of the responsibility for not fixing it sooner. My mom was dismissed so I kind of was weary that I would be too. Now, I feel like it was warranted. 3 out of 4 were NOT able to confirm the recall but the last one I called NuCar in St. Albans VT was able to look it up. Now I question the other dealerships. I called 4 Ford dealerships, ALL but ONE was willing to help me. I am supposed to go Monday 6/24/2024 to NuCar in St. Albans VT. I had to explain it's a safety issue, my child is in the car with me, I drive the interstate to work and I have no other means of travel. I'm a single mother, no money, wasn't even offered a rental. I can't understand why when there isn't a computer, there's no will? Backup protocol? I was offered a courtesy shuttle with no guarantee that I'd get a ride home. I have the ability to work from home, I was asked if I had a laptop, yes I do but I have a [XXX], so TV/food in the waiting room? I understand the logic behind the question, I really do. The transmission is slipping. When you try to get it up to forty forty-five it jerks and boggs down almost stops in it place. Have to slowly press the exceradtir to get it moving again almost causing be rear ended there is a noise and ive carried it to a couple ford dealers me they honestly weren't sure whats going . Also the washer motor went out for no reason . But mostly my concern. Is the transmission issues. There is a light that comes one it's like the two tires on the back lights up

i was driving in the freeway and my car stop and start the fire from the motor right away, i got scared but i was able to get out safely to call 911 and police show up and tried to used the extinguisher but it was to much flames and fire department show up to help . My car was completely total loss from the fire . My car was in good condition and didn't have any mechanic problems , i bought the car a few months ago before the accident from a dealership but we didn't any warranty from the dealer i try to get contracts to the dealer but they told me to complain with the Ford dealer, i try to contact to the Ford dealer to make a complain but I haven't get any response.

My coolant has been leaking starting early this month and I took it to my repair shop. My car has 94,347 miles on it. They told me it could be related to Safety Recall Notice 17S09/NHTSA Recall 17V-209. They put in Stop Leak to help. It did for a while but continues to leak. In searching the internet about this problem, I found that many other people are having this problem and are not getting satisfaction from Ford. In the end, they have to have the engine replaced. I'm worried that this problem will advance to more problems like other people are having. On March 11, 2024, I took the car to my repair shop.

My daughter's 2014 Ford escape low coolant light came on today and the thermostat jumped straight to over heating and the check engine light came on. The coolant has been going down very quickly during normal use and she has to continually fill the coolant more and more recently. Today was the first time the light came on and it overheated.

My engine coolant kept disappearing with no signs of a leak and no overheating. Then one day it was driving fine when I stopped at a red light and it stalled so I tried to restart it but every time I put it in gear it stalled so I had to get it towed to a mechanic and the diagnosed it as transmission failure. It never showed signs of transmission issues and never had a check engine light on or anything. Worst buy ever

I have an oil and coolant leak in my 2014 Ford Escape. My mechanic said there is a recall for this issue, but It is not coming up under my Vin. My mechanic says the car is dangerous to drive because it can catch on fire. I see that there was a big recall with the Ford Escape for this issue and I am disappointed that my vin # is not included. Very frustrating because this is an extremely serious matter that could result in loss of life and Ford does not want to fix it!!!! The issue has been confirmed with my service garage and online.

Lug-nuts corroded under the plating causing the service dealer (NTB) to not be able to get the proper size wrench on them to remove and then re-tighten. They said new lug-nuts would be required to service the tires (been driving and servicing vehicles for 50+ years, this is the first vehicle I had to replace the lug-nuts). Had to purchase a new set of 20 lug-nuts to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, it is a bad two piece design on the lug-nut and should be re-engineered. I could have forced the lug-nuts off myself, but if this happens to my wife or daughters when they need to replace a flat, it would be a big safety concern. Ford should address it.

Hello -- 1) My wife explained to me that the acceleration would rev very high on rpms but no power -- ( 1st & 2nd especially) then the check engine light came on -- I drove it to check and there was something very wrong -- unfortunately I could find no dealers w\o a full months wait or more -- Then on the Friday after Thanksgiving she came home & said she had no brakes -- I take it for a ride to investigate -- sure enough the vacuum booster failed -- like driving w manual brakes in the old days & u still need to use the emergency brake -- It failed as she drove (no idea) til she needed to stop -- fortunately we live in a rural area and she had space and time to try to figure out what happened -- otherwise there would have been at the least a deadly car crash from behind -- When the accelleration fails there will be death from being broadsided entering traffic -- what a choice !!!! -- Also it might not seem too big a deal but the A\C condensate drain line plugs up and there will be 2" of water on floor inside the cab on both sides -- I had to finally fix it because i couldnt take it anywhere because -- no parts -- too busy -- UNFORTUNATELY THE PERSON WHO DRIVES THIS VEHICLE HAS ASTHMA -- THE MOLD AND MILDEW WERE UNREAL -- How are there no recalls on these life altering situations ?? I work for this company and I'm thoroughly disgusted. The date for A\C & turbo was in August -- the failed brakes is the date below -- I just got the vehicle back today and the brakes work because of replacing vacuum booster -- then the dealer wouldnt read my notes and car still does what they charged me $1450 for -- westgate solenoid -- boost solenoid -- NOW -- BECAUSE OF THEIR DESIGN -- FORDS -- NOT ONLY DID I SPEND THAT MONEY FOR NOTHING -- THEY WANT TO REPLACE MOTOR & TURBO FOR ONLY $11500 -- ONLY 82000 MILES !!!! I do have bills from the dealer -- just no way to upload right now -- if u need them they can be uploaded in the next couple of days --

As I was driving down the highway my dash started blinking my car shut off and I saw smoke coming from under the hood. I lift the hood and under the hood is completely covered in fire. Another vehicle behind me while driving stopped and told me he seen fire under the car as I was driving.

My car the power steering/steering rack failed while driving the vehicle. At first it gave me a slight warning that the power assist had a fault then it warned steering failure, brake safely. At which time the steering was completely gone. My son and I were in the car driving while this happened and luckily were able to get to the side of the road. I had it towed to the nearest ford dealership to see what the problem was. They called to tell me the entire steering rack had to be replaced for a total of $3,396, when I only owe $4700 on the car as well.

1) Steering went out without having issues prior. It reads "steering assist fault service required" on the dash 2) Lost all steering capabilities without warning. The car did not lose all power, it was still running and driving just zero steering. I drive daily with my children in the vehicle most of the time. This time, thankfully, I was alone and not in traffic to harm other drivers. Steering does not work at all, it's not just hard to turn, there's no movement in the wheel no matter how hard you try. 3) It has been checked out by our mechanic and he states "the code reader brings up nothing, no loose wires, tried resetting the battery, it doesn't have power steering fluid that could even be low, but there are cars recalled 2011-2013 with the exact same issue but this is a 2014" 4) It has not been checked by the dealer or manufacturer yet. 5) There were zero warnings. After the incident, a light came on the dash reading "steering assist fault service required"

I bought this vehicle exactly 1 year ago back in June from The BMW dealership in Arlington, Texas Under the assumption that there was nothing wrong with it Mechanically. The dealership Lied to me because not even a week later. I had to take it to a Firestone to see what was wrong with it. And they said that there was coolant loss, They did do a pressure track and said at the time it was not the gasket period I have taken it to other mechanics since then trying to fix what they said the issue was but there has been a loss of coolant in that vehicle and we don't know where it's going period period I don't know what to do because there was a recall on it. From what I searched on the internet long ago? But it is no longer available. And that's unfortunate for me. Because I believe that the recall that they had back in 2017 I believe that's the issue that is currently wrong with the vehicle the recall code was 17s09. I don't know what else to do because I'm at a loss. I spent eight thousand dollars on a vehicle that I cannot even enjoy Because it has been in the shop more times than I have driven it

In the early morning of August 6, 2023, I was driving on the interstate and began to notice that my SUV was failing to accelerate when I attempted to go at the minimum speed of 70 MPH. The SUV started to decrease in speed and acted like the engine was beginning to stall. Knowing that this was beginning to be a dangerous situation I pulled off to the side of the road and called for roadside assistance. *It should be noted that I did hear a hissing sound on the driver side when I pulled out of my driveway but thought nothing of it as I had my tires rotated on July 31, 2023.* Thinking that it might be my transmission, I had my car towed to my home and had it towed to Carfix on Monday, August 7, 2023. Attached is what Carfix told me. While I would like to be reimbursed by Ford after purchasing a 2nd Ford (other a 1995 Mustang, I newly purchased) vehicle where I have had to replace the transmission, I would like to bring to the attention of NHTSA that this seems to be an ongoing issue with Ford vehicles. I contacted Ford and due to no unrepaired recalls for the SUV, they suggested I reach out to NHTSA. Also, I have a Ford Case No. I live in a rural area and this would have been devastating to me if I did not have the money to pay for a re-built transmission and I am hoping that it will last at least 2 years.

The shift cable bushing and other parts around is bad. Ford auto nation in blanding Ave Florida said my car needs work $1,100.00 I had diagnostic done by ford automation on July 22, 2023 on a Saturday from service center name Chris I needed that shift cable bushing fixed.

Turned in the ignition. I heard air coming from the brake when i turned on the car. I then could feel resistance when pushing the brake after pushing to the floor. Brake booster fixed once and after a month. The air sound started again when not pressing the brake. I had to use my emergency brake to drive home from work.

On May 27, 2023, I took my Ford Escape SE to dealership for service (mileage: 99742). I had Works Synthetic Oil Change, Mutli-point inspection, rotation of tires, coolant system cleaning, brake systems fluid exchange, spark plugs replaced, air filter replaced. Diagnostic for A/C. Total cost: $1005.90. Results from service: (1) Emergency flasher or hazard light button does not work. $199.95 Diagnostic fee to repair flasher/hazard light button. Due to cost of Diagnostic fee, repair to Emergency flasher or hazard light button was not conducted. (2) AC not working. Diagnostic Fee $199.95. AC leakage. Repair parts, YN*19* Refrigera10009G and BV6Z*19850*B Evaporato22105B cost $486.96 and labor fee 2150.00 + tax $171.40. Total Cost: $2808.36. Due to total cost, repair to AC was not conducted. (3) When replacing the spark plugs, oil was found in the valleys of the spark plugs. Unsure if the valve cover or something else that pertains to it is damaged or some other type of issues. Due to cost of diagnostic test ($199.00), service was not conduct.

While driving down the road a warning pops up on the dash that says "High Engine Temperatures. Please Stop Safely" Had to have the car towed because it got stuck in Limp Mode and would not drive. Had the codes read and it comes up with code P1299 which says Cylinder Head Overtemperature Protection Active. Car stays in Limp Mode and is undriveable until code is cleared with a code reader. Happens several times over and over again within a 30 minute drive.

While driving 30 minutes home from work, High Engine Temperature Warning popped up and stuck car in Limp Mode 20+ times. Had to use a Code Reader to clear the code P1299 that says Cylinder Head Overtemperature Protection Active in order to get car to drive home. While driving down the road my Ford escape lost most of its power while still in drive and running (was running at roughly 6000-7000rpms but going no faster than 15 MPH, when after about a mile of this it completely died, lost any ability to brake or steer, then the engine started smoking very bad and within seconds we saw flames coming up onto the windshield from under the hood. within about 10 minutes the entire car was engulfed in flames and totally destroyed/melted/burned.

My transmission went out on my vehicle in January 2022, I took it to a transmission shop in the town I live in and had a rebuilt transmission put in it. I paid for everything and was told by the owner the the transmissions on these are junk and and Ford knows this and does nothing about it, I did look up reports and complaints on the internet and seen many of these with the same year as my vehicle. Then a recall came out for the transmission to be fixed, I took my vehicle in to be fixed and I was told by a Customer Service person with Ford, I could send in my paperwork to be reimbursed. I sent it in the the address they gave me and got a letter back about 2 months later saying they were not reimbursing me. I had all my paperwork submitted to them regarding this issue. The driver side rear door can not be opened. It appears the paneling of the door is caught on the frame, which prevents the operation of the door. This has been reported twice to the dealership, and so far they have ignored the request to inspect or fix it. In an emergency if needed passengers would not be able to exit through this door, which would put that at risk if the car were pinned on one side and the front too damaged to operate. Also the rear camera has failed and does not operate. This is the second camera to do so as the first was replaced under warranty a few years after purchasing the vehicle. If a child were behind the vehicle there would be no way to know looking over your shoulder, as you could only see them on camera. The only warning or indicator of the camera failure is a black screen with a message that you need to contact a service professional.

I've been having rear suspension issues, due to the fact I just had to replace my rear shocks on my 2014 Ford Escape Titanium. I recently got my rear shocks replaced through Goodyear in Bartow, Fl. about 2-3 weeks ago & had to return to Goodyear again 3 different times in this month of February of 2023 to tighten up the rear passenger side. I'm told by mechanic techs at Goodyear that it appears I might be having "control bar" issues on this 2014 model & it being NOT the rear shocks after all. But I'm having to replace the front end with new struts as well. I feel it is neccessary to let anyone having the same issue with the suspension on my 2014 Ford escape needs to investigate this!

Was driving 35mph and car started jerking and lost power to gas pedal. I placed it in park, and then in drive. The speedometer trusted to 110 and then it jerked some more, heard a horrible whining noise. I drove home with same issues, about 6 blocks. Then I got a transmission failure message on my dash. Could put in park. Put my e brake on. Had it towed to the dealership. Car only has 55,000 miles on it. Been meticulously maintained. There were no warnings before this incident. Dealership called and said my transmission needs to be replaced. Well we do t have 6000 to fix it and ar still making car payments. The door latch was fixed about 2 years ago at the Ford dealer in Lewisville Tx due to a recall, now the door latch is broken again and according to them , they can't replace it again because it was done already. Currently Ford recalled bushing that connects the transmission to the shifter cable in these vehicles can degrade. Weakened, it will eventually snap. I have already fixed my car multiple times for the same reason. Once I paid for a month before recall after recall I returned the car three times to the dealership to fix cuz they didn't do it right. My car gave me several warning signs to that led up to the bushing actually snapped on me my car is doing the same thing it was doing before it snapped and now I'm going to have to pay for it again. Now my car falls within the make and model I don't understand why it's not on recall I don't actually remember the year it happened but I had to deal with the multiple times

It started to act like it was stalling out so I stopped on the side of the road and opened the door to listen. The car was in gear but the brake peddle was pressed all the way down. When I opened the door the panel came up with a warning saying the "Transmission not in Park press Ok". So I pressed Ok and closed the door. I drove forward a few inches, listening thru the window with the door closed. It still wasnt acting right so I stopped in the middle of the road, moved the gear shifter to Park and noticed the drivers panel indicated the gear the car was in was Neutral even though the shifter is in Park. I got out of the car and moved it out of the middle of the road and it went over a small hump I couldn't see, and slid into a fence. I spent the next 25 minutes trying to rock the car to either move backward or forward and away from the fence, obtaining a few bruises (nothing serious) in the process, and was unable to move the car on my own. I had to engage the parking brake, lock the car, and started walking to look for help or cell phone service, as I had none where I was. After a stranger stopped to help get it off the road completely, I watched YouTube videos of easy fixes for the problem and found a video explaining how to "push" the neutral safety locking switch, inside the dash surrounding the gear shifter, tried this remedy and it allowed the gear shifter to move and shift into Neutral or any of the gears below (ND12) but will not shift into Park or Reverse. I had someone follow me home and got the car to my house after it happening one more time on the way. The soonest my local Ford dealership could get it in for service is September 8th (roughly 3 weeks after onset of issues and immobilization). I spoke to Customer Service and they told me the car would have to be diagnosed as due to the recall. There's no remedy until hopefully Oct2022 and wont provide a rental until then. Said we'll see what programs I qualify for even though I owe $3400 on my loan.

I saw white vehicle and it was little further and I can make it to turn left without collision. But the suv won't let me move to 2 lanes and collision. I remember that one day before collision. I notice that rpm was 5 when I was on highway after traffic light. It is not normal for rpm 5 and usually 3. NO warning - 'check engine light'. I feel that it is not safe without warning. The transmission seized and would not go into any gear. I was pulling out into street traffic from a parking spot, stuck diagonally while cars tried to avoid hitting my car by sharing a lane if necessary. This was the day after receiving transmission bushing recall. Ford will not assist and transmission has to be completely replaced, which is financially impossible. Already experienced the dangerous engine issue (rebuilt twice and check engine light still on for cooling sensor) that Ford refused to take accountability for. Had that transmission seized while on major road or highway, I shudder to think of results. Please do not allow Ford to continue this insidious behavior.

I have an open recall on my 2014 Ford Escape. It says the date here was June 10th, 2022, however I was not informed until I got the letter in the mail on July 19th, 2022. I was going to leave to the grocery store on Sunday the 17th of July, when the shift gear was not at all working and it hasn’t been working ever since. As of 6/10/2022 there is a ford recall on my vehicle for the transmission shifter cable #22S43. On 6/30/2022 my vehicle stopped working. The transmission is stuck in park and the gear shift is not registering that the car is supposed to be shifting gears. I had the car towed to Ford but they do not have the part and do not know when they will be able to accommodate me. They told me they cannot give me a loaner because they do not have any and I do not qualify for one, because of this I do not have a vehicle to get to and from work. This is causing me to lose out on money from work.

bushing failure attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission. The condition didn't allow me to move shifter lever to park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in park, with no warning message or audible chime. This faulty bushing is currently a active recall #18s20. I reported to local dealer were he said my vehicles vin # wasn't part of active recall. The bushing failure occurred on 5/22/22 with no warning messages or symptoms. The bushing/cable was replaced by local garage. Mechanic said the part replaced was the same part as active recall. Note: emergency brake was applied during failure to prevent roll away.

Vehicle will start and run normally when first starting. After running for approximately 20 minutes and stopping (turning off engine), then re-starting within 30 minutes, the vehicle will start and run for a short period before stalling. It is unpredictable and dangerous (stalling in traffic or when pulling out into traffic). I see a re-call for a similar problem for recall number 108695 but for some reason this recall does not show up when I put in the VIN number. Has been doing this off and on ever since we owned the vehicle but it has almost caused an accident recently so need to take care of it.

Just seems a possible issue as you could be backing out of a parking space at the mall or grocery store and either hit a car or pedestrian. I have a coolant intrusion issue. This issue is causing a major problem to the engine and long block cylinders. This problem has occurred randomly causing the car to buffer, shut off on its own, and have white smoke come out of the exhaust and run terribly. I have taken this vehicle to multiple Ford Service centers in the last two years for its usual maintenance repairs and nobody has pointed out there has been an issue. My car is now in the shop with an $8,000 repair cost. Ford has decided to NOT fix the recall issue on my vehicle. This problem is a known issue for the 2014 Ford Escapes. I purchased this vehicle at Carmax and have paperwork saying there are 2 recalls associated with this vin. Manufacturer Number: 17S09 NHTSA Recall Number: 17V209 Recall Status: Recall incomplete The cycling head crack may cause an oil leak that may result in a fire in the engine compartment. This is an extremely dangerous issue for myself & others.

In brief, It is my contention that safety recall# 17S09 service was not performed in its entirely on my vehicle and likely several others by the dealerships. The dealerships only replaced the engine coolant sensors & the motor mounts per their understanding of the recall instructions but did not replace the coolant system hoses as instructed in the Dec 13th correspondence to the dealers. After having several problems with coolant leakages in my vehicle which caused the check engine light to come on it was discovered that I had multiple hoses leaking. I spoke with a service manager at the dealership that performed my recall service in April/2018 about the hoses not being replaced which was my current problem? I was informed this was not what the dealerships were instructed to do by Ford Motors in their recall notices to them. Two different dealerships I visited were oblivious to this recall mandate. In the meantime I have incurred nearly $1500 in repair expenses because the recall that was investigated and mandated by NHTSA in 2017 was not performed in its entirety although Ford Motors assured this would be addressed in the recall. Investigation needed/warranted.

The vehicle was used days prior with no issues. I started the vehicle up while still in the parking spot and the vehicle started great. Everything was fine while driving this particular day. My husband and I alternated between drivers, him and I. Suddenly the car was revving itself as I pushed on the gas pedal. The vehicle suddenly with no warning stopped picking up speed then would pick up speed when you least expected it. I didn't receive any warning on the dashboard until this had been going on for nearly 2 hours so there was definitely a delayed response on the dashboard of any warning or malfunction. My husband and I pulled over multiple times, turned off the car and allowed it to sit for 15-30 minutes then carried on our way. It wasn't until 2 hours after this issue started that we suddenly received a warning on the dashboard that stated transmission fault service now. Every time we would stop, turn off the car and turn it back on the warning on the dashboard disappeared. It would eventually come back on approximately 20-30 minutes later. We were far from home and wouldn't have been able to get a tow unless we were within a 100 mile radius. We drove the vehicle as far as we could then without warning the vehicle it shut off. It lost all power completely. I took the vehicle for a diagnostic to a reputable Ford Dealership and I'm being told that I need an engine and transmission. I did a bit of research and found that Ford Escape are nitrous for Engine and Transmission issues. I've found several articles where individuals complained of the exact same issue as mines. Ford needs to be held accountable for making such an unreliable vehicle! They made a vehicle that is known to have a multitude of major safety issues yet has done nothing to resolve the matter. Now we are stuck with a vehicle that doesn't work! We have to continue making payments on a vehicle that is of no use! We are both disabled as well so this vehicle was our lifeline to getting around!

Driving a friends vehicle, got out to run into an open garage for an errand. Placed floor shift in park, left driver door open, vehicle running...no chime! Came back to SUV, friend had gotten out of the passenger side, closed door and was standing at the rear of the vehicle. She stated that she needed to get into the cargo area and that I needed to turn the vehicle off so that it could be opened. I questioned why I could not just push the door open button and she stated that it was a safety feature. She came around to the outside of the driver's door and said to reach in and turn it off, at which time the SUV immediately went into reverse, caught me under the door and dragged me approximately 20-25 feet The vehicle came to rest partially on the driveway and partially in grass. I had road rash on my back and massive blood loss in my abdomen as well as bruising on thigh and elbows. It is my understanding that this model has been recalled for both the lack of chime when running, key in the ignition, door open AND a transmission bushing that malfunctions and does not properly go into park by using the gear shifter. And that others have been dragged by their 2014 Escapes. I do not own this vehicle and the owner stated that I did not properly put it into park OR knocked it out of park when I reached in to turn the ignition off. Therefore she will not have the vehicle checked for a malfunction.

I was driving down a busy highway and out of nowhere I noticed my car started to slowly stall out. I was lucky enough to pull into the median where my car had came to an abrupt stop. I put it in park, but after that I wasn’t even able to turn my car off or on. My lights were still on in my car and everything else. I AM AWARE THAT THE DEFECTIVE FLYWHEEL IS STAMPED INSTEAD OF MADE OF CAST IRON AND SO, THE INFERIOR MATERIAL HAS FAILED IN OTHER FORD ESCAPES. FURTHERMORE DELAYS OF ALL THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT PARTS BY THE FORD MOTOR CO. TO RUGE'S FORD DEALER, DRAGGED ON FOR 2 WEEKS FROM 12/28/2020 TO 1/15/2021 AND AGAIN FROM 4/5/2021 UNTIL NOW 4/18/2021. MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SITS IDLE AT RUGE'S FORD FOR 2 WEEKS WAITING FOR ALL THE PARTS TO ARRIVE. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS IN MY AREA HAVE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THE DEFECTIVE FLYWHEEL. I EXPECT YOU TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION AND ISSUE A RECALL ON THE DEFECTIVE FLYWHEEL PART.

2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM TAKEN IN FOR EVERY RECALL, AND MAINTAINED. WHILE DRIVING ON A 3 LANE ROAD GOING 40 MPH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT ON FULL SPEED (NOT RAINING) AND WOULD NOT/COULD NOT TURN THEM OFF. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES THEY WENT DOWN TO SLOW SPEED. THEN THE CAR LOST POWER, NO STEERING OR BRAKES. NO WAY TO STOP OR STEER THE CAR. IT SLOWED AND FINALLY CAME TO A CLUNKY STOP. FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR ONTO THE ROAD AT THAT TIME. WITHIN 1-2 MINUTES THE FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE, UP AND OVER THE HOOD ONTO THE TOP AND OVER THE CAR COMPLETELY.

ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER SHE STARTED THE CAR FOR ME AND I COULD NOT DISTINGUISH ANY SOUNDS TO BE CONCERNED WITH AND TOLD HER SHE WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE IT TO HER VOLLEYBALL PRACTICE'I SAID''IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ANYTHING THAT WILL CAUSE IT TO DIE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.' WITHIN 10 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING CALLED TO SAY THE CAR WAS LOSING POWER AND BARELY MOVING ON A BUSY CITY STREET. SHE HAD TO COAST ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO GET TO A STREET WHERE SHE COULD WAIT FOR ME. ULTIMATELY WHERE SHE WAS STRANDED WAS A DANGEROUS SPOT TO BE FOR OTHER CARS TURNING ONTO THE STREET BECAUSE OF A WALL BLOCKING THEIR VIEW OF HER VEHICLE UNTIL THEY MADE THE TURN. WHEN I ARRIVED I CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEABLE. SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEARS BARELY GENERATED ANY MOVEMENT. IT TOOK 20 MINUTES DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT ABOUT 3 MPH TO REACH A PARKING LOT (IT TOOK ONE MINUTE TO GET THE CAR OVER A SLIGHT HUMP TURNING INTO THE PARKING LOT) WHERE I LEFT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT UNTIL I COULD HAVE IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD DIAGNOSED THE FOLLOWING 'SUSPECT TORQUECONVERTER INTERNAL FAILURE SENT METAL THROUGH THEPUMP (WHINE) AND THROUGH OUT THE REST OF THETRANSMISSION.' TWO REPAIR OPTIONS NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $5,809.18 OR OVERHAUL FOR $5,181.57. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND IS DANGEROUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION. VEHICLES SHOULD NOT GO FROM RUNNING FINE TO COMPLETE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY ROADWAYS. REPLACING A TORQUE CONVERTER IS ONE THING BUT A FAILURE OF A TORQUE CONVERTER CAUSING A $5,000+ REPAIR JOB IS ANOTHER THING. WARNING LIGHT AFTER FAILURE MAY ALSO NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED. THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECORD OF REGULAR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.

A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION MAY ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR STATE DIFFERENT THAN THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION SELECTED BY THE DRIVER. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN 'PARK,' WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT APPLIED, A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION COULD RESULT IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR CRASH. WHILE COASTING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH MY FORD ESCAPE STOPPED ACCELERATING. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, SIMPLY THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED FUNCTIONING. ALL FLUID WERE OKAY AND NO OVERHEATING CONDITION WAS PRESENT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR JERKED FORWARD. THE FORD SEEMED TO GO IN AND OUT OF GEAR. I ENDED UP TOWING THE VEHICLE HOME. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED (NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID). FEW WEEKS LATER, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN (REPLACED THROTTLE BODY) WITH NOT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR FAULT CODE EVER COMING ON. THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED, I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A COLLISION DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE. CAR DROVE AGAIN ON AND OFF. TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT. TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AND THE FORD SEEMS TO BE DRIVING MUCH BETTER, SHIFTING IS STILL NOT SMOOTH.

I HAVE A 2014 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L ECOBOOST.THAT IS NOT RUNNING&FORD WILL NOT FIX NOR ADMIT THAT THERE ARE OTHER VEHICLE LIKE MINE.BEFORE THE COOLING RECALL CAME ABOUT MY VEHICLE OVER HEATED 2X.I CALLED FORD&THEY TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE TO FIND& FIX THE PROBLEM.FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL.I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO HALL FORD IN ELIZABETH CITY NC.FIRST THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. THEN THE NEXT DAY THEY SAID THE PROBLEM HAD FIXED AFTER 24 HOURS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE. A YEAR LATER THEY RECALLED THE VEHICLE AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING&SAID THEY DID NOT FIX THE RIGHT THING. NOW AFTER 100,000 MILES THE VEHICLE SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR. FOR SAID THERE IS NO RECALL (BUT WITHOUT ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE) THEY KNOW IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. THAT IT WILL COST $5,000 FOR A REMAN TRANSMISSION OR $7,000 FOR A NEW ONE. REMIND YOU THEY HAVE NOT LOOKED OVER THE VEHICLE AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. THE VEHICLE POPS OUT OF GEAR AFTER NOT EVEN DRIVING IT FOR 5 MINUTES. IT IS THE 1.6LL 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I ASKED IF THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES DOING THE SAME THING AND THEY REPLIED NO I WAS THE FIRST THEY HEARD OF. I SAID WELL HOW DO YOU KNOW IT IS THE TRANS.THEY REPLIED BECAUSE WE KNOW OUR VEHICLES. I ASKED IF IT COULD BE FROM THE CAR OVERHEATING 2X BEFORE THEY FIXED THE COOLING ISSUE.THEY SAID NO BECAUSE THEY KNOW THERE VEHICLES.I HAVE GOT 3 DIFFERENT PRICE QUOTES OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THE FIRST QUOTE $2500 REMAN PLUS LABOR THEN 2500 FOR JUST TRAN TO 4-5K FOR REMAN TRANS NOT INCLUDING LABOR.THEY THEN ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO TRADE IN MY VEHICLE FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS RELIABLE. I ANSWERED NO BECAUSE MY CAR WAS PAID FOR. I SAID NO ONE CAN DRIVE IT LIKE THIS. THEY SAID THATS WHY YOU SHOULD BUY A NEW CAR.I STARTED DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MULTIPLE PEOPLE (HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS)HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE VEHICLE AS ME.

WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER, ALMOST LIKE RUNNING OUT OF GAS, THEN A SENSOR WENT OFF SAYING 'ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW', THEN I COULD REALLY FEEL THE CAR DRAGGING. I PULLED OVER AND COULD HEAR THE COOLANT BUBBLING, SO I WAITED TIL IT COOLED DOWN AND SAY THERE WASN'T MUCH THERE, I NOTICED A LEAK UNDER THE COOLANT AREA. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED AN ENGINE FLUSH, I GOT THE FLUSH BUT SOON AFTER THE SAME ISSUE WAS REOCCURRING. RANDOMLY NOW IT WILL JUST LOSE POWER AND SENSOR WILL READ THE SAME THING, IT'S SCARY WITH YOUR FAMILY I'M THE CAR AND YOUR LOSING POWER. SO HERE I AM AGAIN BEING TOLD I NEED AN ENGINE FLUSH AGAIN WITHIN THE SAME YEAR. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE RESERVOIR BEING THAT IT WASN'T HOLDING COOLANT. WHEN I POUR COOLANT IN IT SEEMS LIKE THE ENGINE IS PULLING IT RIGHT OUT, I'M NOT SURE WHERE IT'S GOING BECAUSE IT'S NOT LEAKING OUT BUT IT'S GOING SOMEWHERE. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ON MY VIN, HOWEVER I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I OWN FORD ESCAPE 2014 SE. I WAS AT MY FORD/LINCOLN DEALERSHIP FOR 6-MONTH MAINTENANCE AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALL LUG NUTS OF MY VEHICLE ARE SWOLLEN ARE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $240 + TAXES. THEY TOLD ME THAT I DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE AS THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT TIRES BACK. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT AND TRUSTED THE DEALERSHIP. FRANKLY, I COULD NOT VISUALIZE THE PROBLEM. UPON RETURN, I HAVE RESEARCHED IT AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT HIGH-QUALITY REPLACEMENT LUG NUTS ON AMAZON ARE $20- $40 (A PACK OF 20). APPARENTLY, INSTEAD OF SOLID STEEL NUTS, FORD SELLS ITS VEHICLES WITH LUG NUTS THAT HAVE A STEEL CORE WITH CHROME, ALUMINUM, OR STAINLESS STEEL CAPS ATTACHED TO IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF THE VISIBLE PART OF THE LUG NUTS. THE CAPS SWELL, CRACK, AND DELAMINATE TO THE POINT WHERE THE LUG NUTS CANNOT BE REMOVED WITH THE LUG WRENCH PROVIDED BY FORD. THIS LEAVES OWNERS AND LESSEES WHO GET FLAT TIRES OFTEN STRANDED ON THE ROADS WITHOUT THE ABILITY FOR EVEN TOW TRUCK DRIVERS TO REMOVE THE SWOLLEN LUG NUTS. THIS MEANS A TOW TO THE SHOP JUST TO HAVE THE LUG NUTS REMOVED AND THE TIRE REPLACED. AFTER PUTTING THAT IN AND THE CAR BEING OFF, I STARTED IT BACK UP AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. IT TOOK OFF LIKE THERE WAS NO ISSUES. CURRENT ISSUE IS HEAD GASKET OVERHEATED AND BLEW. COOLANT IS INTERNALLY LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. CAR BLOWS OUT A TON OF EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND HAS THE SMELL OF COOLANT IN IT. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY ANYMORE BECAUSE THE CAR OVERHEATS AND LIMITS MY SPEED TO 45 MPH. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER JUST TO LET IT COOL DOWN. EVERY TIME THE CAR STARTS UP IT VIBRATES SO MUCH THAT ITS QUITE ANNOYING. SOMETIMES THE CAR SHUTS OFF RIGHT AFTER I START IT IN THE MORNING, RIGHT AFTER A CRAZY BURST OF VIBRATION. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO I STARTED MY CAR AND IT VIBRATED SO MUCH AND THEN SO MUCH OIL LEAKED FROM MY CAR, EXHAUST BLEW OUT DARK BLACK SMOG AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY HOOD. CAR IS REALLY LOUD ON IDLE, NEVER BEEN IN A CAR SO LOUD WITH SO MUCH VIBRATION ALL THROUGHOUT THE CAR. CAR CONSTANTLY OVERHEATS AND HAS NO POWER WHEN DRIVING. CAR VIBRATES INSANELY WHEN I'M IDLE AT A RED LIGHT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF EVERY OTHER DAY. MY MECHANIC HAS DONE RESEARCH ON THE CAR AND SAYS TO GET RID OF IT, IT'S NOT EVEN WORTH FIXING; HE SAYS YOU'LL END UP SPENDING JUST AS MUCH MONEY FIXING THIS IN THE LONG RUN THAN JUST BUYING A NEW CAR. MY MECHANIC SAID FIXING THE HEAD GASKET WONT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, YOU NEED AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE AND CYLINDER BLOCK. WE'VE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS CAR/MODEL AND EVERYONE'S HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND CAN'T REALLY GET DOWN TO THE BOTTOM LINE ON WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATES I AM GOING FASTER THAN I AM AND THE MILEAGE SHOWS THAT I HAVE TRAVELED FURTHER THAN I HAVE. I HAVE CHECKED THIS AGAINST MY GARMIN AND HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTS RADAR SIGNS THAT TELL HOW FAST YOU ARE DRIVING. THIS MAKES MY WARRANTY RUN OUT SOONER THAN IT SHOULD. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. MY SECOND CAR CONFIRMS WHAT THE GARMIN SHOWS FOR SPEED AND MILES DRIVEN. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. IT IS OFF BY ABOUT 7 % . THE ODOMETER SHOWS ABOUT 68,000 MILES. THE ACTUAL, AS I SEE IT, IS ABOUT 63,000 MILES. THAT IS 5,000 MILES MORE THAN THE CAR ACTUALLY HAS ON IT AND THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY WILL RUN OUT AT 93,000 MILES. THE CAR SHOWS 65 MPH AND THE GARMIN AND ROADSIDE RADAR INDICATE MY SPEED AT 60 MPH.

I WAS TOLD 6 MONTHS AGO BY THE TIRE & LUBE PLACE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP (THEY WORK WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP) THAT IT LOOKED LIKE MY COOLANT TANK WAS POSSIBLY CRACKED, BUT WASN'T A BIG ISSUE SINCE IT STILL HELD "ENOUGH" ANTI-FREEZE. HOWEVER MY ENGINE LIGHT ENDED UP COMING ON LATER AND I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE COOLANT SENSOR THAT WAS BAD. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DAYS LATER AND AROUND THE SAME TIME NOTICED LOW COOLANT ALERTS. TOPPED OFF COOLANT BUT ALSO NOTICED COOLANT WOULD BE RETURNED TO RESERVOIR WHEN REMOVING THE CAP TO REFILL. CAR CONTINUES TO RUN ROUGH SO I TAKE IT IN TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. CODE COMES BACK SAYING IT'S A COIL PACKAGE. REPAIRS ARE MADE, CAR RUNS GREAT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF. A DAY LATER THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND SO DOES THE LOW COOLANT WARNING. TOP OFF COOLANT AND DECIDE TO TAKE IT INTO A DEALER. I DO MY RESEARCH ONLINE AND FIND THIS IS IS QUITE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. DEALER TELLS ME I HAVE A COOLANT LEAK IN CYLINDER 3 MUCH LIKE OTHER REPORTS I READ. THEY CLAIM IT'S A DIFFERENT ISSUE FROM THE COOLANT RECALL FORD ISSUED. I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THIS IS THE CASE AND AM MINDBLOWN FORD DOESN'T HAVE A REMEDY FOR THIS ISSUE.

WHEN I GOOGLED SIMILAR SITUATIONS I CAME UPON A RECALL THAT LISTED EXACTLY WHAT TOOK PLACE. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN A 2017 SAFETY RECALL RELATED TO OVERHEATING AND COOLANT LEAKS, BUT IT WAS NOT. IN FEBRUARY 2019, IT OVERHEATED WITH LITTLE WARNING ON THE FREEWAY, BLOWING A HOLE IN THE MOTOR (AT 62K MILES). FORD REJECTED REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE, SO REPAIR WAS DONE BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (MOTOR REPLACED). THREE MONTHS LATER, DURING FREEWAY DRIVE, MESSAGE APPEARED SEVERAL TIMES STATING POWER WAS BEING CUT TO KEEP ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING (NO INDICATION ENGINE ACTUALLY WAS OVERHEATING). ULTIMATELY, MESSAGE APPEARED WARNING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY. OVERHEATED ENGINE COMPLETELY MELTED A BRACKET. MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A BURNT-OUT SENSOR BUT COULD NOT SAY WHY IT HAPPENED. I SECURED TWO DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTICS. FIRST CONDUCTED COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC AND CONCLUDED A WASTE GATE WAS STUCK OPEN; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR. SECOND SAID THE DEGAS BOTTLE WAS CRACKED AND DECLINED TO PERFORM PRESSURE TEST; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR OR WASTE GATE ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD ALL THESE RANDOM REPAIRS AND IN ANY CASE, DO NOT FEEL THIS CAR CAN BE PUT INTO A SAFE CONDITION FOR DRIVING.

THE DEALER RAN MULTIPLE TESTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND FOUND NOTHING, EVEN CALLING IT "ONE OF THOSE FORD MYSTERIES". TODAY, 7/18/19 ON THE WAY TO WORK, MY SUV LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I HIT THE GAS, MY SUV BARELY MOVED. AFTER APPROX 10 SECS, MY SUV JERKED AND ACCELERATED TO AN ALMOST NORMAL SPEED. THAT LASTED ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS, WHEN IT STARTED TO BARELY MOVE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, OUT OF TRAFFIC. THERE I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK, WHO TOOK THE SUV TO THE FORD DEALER. I HAVE GOTTEN ALL MY MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES DONE AT THE FORD DEALER SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR, SO OF COURSE I'M SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT AFTER ONLY 77,000 MILES, I HAVE A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I'M EVEN MORE SHOCKED TO FIND ENDLESS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES AND FORD HAS DONE NOTHING. I OWNED MY PREVIOUS CAR FOR 13 YEARS, WITH NO MAJOR ISSUES. IN JUNE 2019, IT STARTED WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING ON OR SHIFTING OUT OF PARK INTERMITTENTLY.. WORK WAS PERFORMED AND THEN A WEEK LATER P0303 CYLINDER MISFIRE.. AGAIN WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE CODE CAME BACK, AND NOW FORD IS RECOMMENDING REPLACING THE ENGINE BUT WILL NOT COVER THE COSTS DUE TO BEING 5 YEARS AND IN EXCESS OF 60K MILES. TOOK FOR 2ND OPINION AND RAN OUT OF COOLANT AND OVERHEATED LESS THAN 5 MILES AWAY FROM FORD DEALERSHIP, EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST REPLACED THE COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK AND FILLED IT.. CONTINUES NEED COOLANT EVERY FEW MILES. SEEMS CRAZY THAT A VEHICLE THAT STAYED ON TOP OF ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR EXCESSIVE CONDITIONS WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AT LESS THAN 94K MILES AND IS THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FOOT THE BILL. I'VE ALREADY SPENT ALMOST $3K ON THIS ISSUE AND FORD VERBALLY TOLD ME JUST THE ENGINE WOULD BE AROUND $7-8K WITHOUT LABOR. THEY ALSO HAD THEIR SALES DEPARTMENT CALL ME AND OFFER TO "TAKE A COUPLE HUNDRED OFF A NEW VEHICLE" FOR MY CURRENT ONE. VERY DISHEARTENING TO HEAR THAT WHEN I'VE TAKEN CARE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE SOLE OWNER, LESS A FEW RECOMMENDED TIRE ROTATIONS.

THAT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY AND I NEEDED A WEEKEND TO THINK ABOUT IT. OVER THE WEEKEND I FOUND OUT THAT FORD ESCAPE HAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT REFLECTING THAT. UPON MORE RESEARCH ABOUT MY VEHICLE I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS ASSEMBLED IN THE FACTORY AND ON THE DATE THAT THE RECALL STATES IT. THE RECALL NUMBER FOR THIS ISSUE IS 17S09. MY LOCAL FORD IN NORTH CHARLESTON , SC SAYS THAT THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MISSING THE SENSOR THAT WOULD HAVE ALARMED ME IF MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING DAYS OR WEEKS BEFORE.

MY DASH BOARD LIGHTS WERE ALL TURNING ON BUT ABSOLUTELY NOT A SOUND FROM THE ENGINE OR ANYTHING. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE FREEWAY LATE AT NIGHT. I HAD TO CALL STATE PATROL BECAUSE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. I COULDN'T TAKE MY CAR OUT OF PARK SO I HAD TO SIT THERE AND WAIT FOR STATE PATROL AND A TOW TRUCK. I WAS THERE FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. THE CAR HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE FORD COMPANY HERE AT MY COUNTRY, THE RESULT WAS NEGATIVE AND THE SYSTEM APPEARS TO BE NORMAL. HOWEVER, THE MESSAGES ABOVE APPEARS ONLY ON A HIGHWAY.

THEY DIDN'T SEE A LEAK AND BELIEVED THERE MUST HAVE BEEN AN AIR BUBBLE IN THE SYSTEM THAT WORKED ITSELF OUT AND ADDED MORE COOLANT. LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER THAT THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN AND I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED. THEY DETERMINED THAT THERE'S AN INTERNAL LEAK AND COOLANT HAD BEEN LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENGINE AND SAY THAT THIS ISSUE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE COOLANT RELATED RECALL THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN ORIGINALLY SERVICED FOR. THIS CAR IS A 2014 WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES ON IT. IT SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW ENGINE.

THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT VENTS SO IT PARKED IT AND CALLED THE TOW TRUCK. SINCE THEN COOLANT HAS RUN LOW, BEEN CHECKED NUMEROUS TIMES, HAD HOSES REPLACED, SEVERAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS LOOKING FOR PROBLEMS, CAR HAS SINCE OVERHEATED, AND IS NOW IN NEED OF A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF COOLANT SYSTEM PROBLEM NOT FIXED BY A SENSOR ALERTING YOU TO A LEVEL OF FLUID. I DID NOT SEE AN OBJECTS OR HEAR ANYTHING THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO BREAK. I HAD NOT DRIVEN UNDER AN OVERPASS OR BRIDGE. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AT WEST AVE. AND ENTERED A 7 ELEVEN PARKING LOT TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE. THE FRONT PANEL OF THE SUNROOF WAS BROKEN. I INSPECTED THE SUNROOF FOR EVIDENCE OF AN OBJECT THAT MAY HAVE HIT THE GLASS, BUT FOUND NONE. SOME OF THE GLASS DID FALL INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE ROOF AND THE INTERIOR PANEL, BUT THE MAJORITY OF THE GLASS WAS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL PLACE. WHILE DRIVING AT TIMES WE CAN SMELL FUMES FROM THE ENGINE. IT IS VERY STRONG. IT WILL START AND THEN STOP AFTER A WHILE. THE SMELL IS STRONG WITH CARBON. IT MAKES US SICK AND NAUSEOUS. WE CAN BE ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET OR DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUSE CONTROL ON AND IT WILL HAPPEN. WE HAVE TREATED THIS CAR WELL AND ONLY HAD AN AUTHORIZED DEALER PERFORM MAINTENANCE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CHANGING THE WIPERS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE HAS ISSUES WITH THIS CAR (WE BOUGHT THIS NEW). WE HAVE HAD THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE A DEFECTIVE BREAK DRUM (LESS THAN 2K MILES), A DEFECTIVE TRACK THAT MOVES THE ELECTRIC SEAT AND A FAULTY EXTERIOR DOOR LATCH. COULD NOT CHANGE THE BACK WIPER BLADE HAD TO TAKE IT IN (WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE CENTER THEY HAD ISSUES IN THE BEGINNING FIGURING IT OUT ALSO). NOW THE SMELL ISSUE HAD MADE THIS A BAD EXPERIENCE. IF IT JUST WAS A BAD SMELL THAT WOULD BE ONE ISSUE, HOWEVER THIS IS TOXIC AND MAKES BOTH OF US NAUSEOUS. THEY WILL GIVE AN OVERALL DEPICTION OF THE HOME AND WILL PROVIDE ALL FOR THIS CLAIM. I INITIATED FORD CAS [XXX] ON 20 AUG 18. I STRESSED EXPEDITION IS IMPORTANT DUE TO STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE SCENE. AFTER REPORTING THIS TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY, THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR DETERMINED THAT IT WAS AN EXHAUST FIRE OCCURRED DUE TO AN UNSEEN OIL LEAK. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO FORD ON 10/29/2018, BUT HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM THEM. THE INSURANCE COMPANY, WHICH IS USAA, HAS AGREED TO BUY OUT THE REST OF MY PAYMENT AND TOLD ME THAT I CAN GO AND BUY A NEW CAR.

I HAD NEVER SEEN EITHER OF THESE WARNINGS BEFORE SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AS IT BEGAN SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AT THIS TIME THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED RED - WITHIN APPROX. 60 SECONDS, THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND EXPLODED INTO FLAMES. I QUICKLY EVACUATED THE VEHICLE AND RAN DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WITHIN MINUTES THE ENTIRE CAR WAS IN FLAMES AND WAS LATER RULED A TOTAL LOSS. THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED BY THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM 6 DAYS PRIOR AND WAS GIVEN A "CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH" BY THE MECHANICS.

I HAD ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND THE CARS FRONT END HAD VIRTUALLY MELTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES. IF MY FIANCE HAD NOT CRACKED OPENED THE DOOR SHE MOST ASSUREDLY WOULD HAVE BURNED TO DEATH. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME ESCAPING AS I AM A DISABLED VETERAN WITH SEVERAL MOBILITY PROBLEMS. OUR CAR WAS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 64000 MILES ON IT. WE NEVER EXPECTED WE MIGHT POSSIBLY BE INJURED OR DIE FROM A NEWER VEHICLE. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP (10/19/17), WHERE IT WAS FIRST TAKEN IN FOR A WEEK ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME REPAIR DONE WITH FORD TELLING ME THE FIRST REPAIR USED A FAULTY PART. DRIVING HOME (10/24/17), THE VEHICLE DID NOT STALL, BUT STILL SHOWED DRIVING ISSUES. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED WHILE IN PARK IDLE. I RETURNED TO THE FORD DEALER (10/27/17) AND FOR ANOTHER WEEK, REPAIRS WERE MADE OR LOOKED UP BY A HELP LINE INDICATING THAT EVEN FORD WASN'T SURE OF THE PROBLEM. I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK AGAIN ANOTHER WEEK LATER (11/6/17) AND THE NEXT MORNING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STALLED, BUT IT HAS NOT RUN THE SAME SINCE SEPTEMBER. I DO NOT HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP PLAYING GUESS WHAT'S WRONG WITH FORD.

THIS CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AS THE CAR WITHOUT MADE A LOUD NOISE, AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING JUST STOPPED/SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC. NONE OF THE SAFETY INDICATOR ALERTS WORKED IN THIS CAR SO I WAS CLUELESS THAT THE CARD HAD ANY ISSUES. I ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AT THE TIME AND IT WAS CLEARLY OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION, BAD BATTERY, ABS ISSUES AND POSSIBLY AN ALTERNATOR. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND POSSIBLE A RECALL THAT IS WHY NO WARNINGS LIGHTS CAME ON TO LET ME KNOW IT WAS A PROBLEM. CURRENTLY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS THE CAR BUT WILL PROBABLY MAKE A CLAIM TO FORD. IT WAS IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE BECAUSE IT HAD THE SAME KIND OF SPUTTER. THEY ALSO WORKED ON 4 RECALLS AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BEING DRIVEN WHEN HEAVY RAIN BEGAN. THE WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN ON IN ANY LEVEL, MANUAL OR OTHERWISE. THIS CREATED AN EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY. THE DEALER DID NOT DISCLOSE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE BCM BUT INDICATED WAS THE CAUSE. THEY HOWEVER DID NOT REPLACE IT, BUT DID CHARGE $450 FOR DIAGNOSIS ONLY. NO ACTUAL REPAIR WAS MADE. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL. IT IS AGAIN AFFECTING THE WIPER CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY.

MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE ENGINE OVER HEATING. I HAVE HAD TO GET IT TOWED TWICE NOW BECAUSE IT CONTINUES TO OVER HEAT DUE TO A LACK OF COOLANT (IT DISAPPEARS FOR SOME REASON AND NO ONE KNOW WHERE IT GOES). I THEN HAVE TO GET A RENTAL CAR FOR THE WEEK OR HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES THEM TO FIX IT. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A PLAN TO FIX THE ISSUE INSTEAD THEY WILL INSTALL A SENSOR TO HELP MONITOR THE COOLANT LEVEL AND WARN ME BEFORE THE CAR OVERHEATS. THIS JUST TRANSFER THE BURDEN ONTO ME TO CONTINUOUSLY ADD COOLANT TO A NEW CAR THAT SHOULDN'T NEED IT HAD IT BEEN MADE CORRECTLY. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND A SHERIFF'S DEPUTY HAPPENED TO BE PULLING IN BEHIND ME AFTER SEEING MY CAR IN DISTRESS. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED. WITHIN FIVE TO TEN MINUTES THE ENGINE AREA OF THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. AFTER A SHORT INVESTIGATION ON THE SCENE THE FD BELIEVED THE CAUSE TO BE ELECTRICAL AND APPEARED TO HAVE BEGUN AND CAUSED THE MOST DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT CORNER OF THE ENGINE.

AS OF 9/2/16, FORD'S INVESTIGATION INTO THIS CONCERN HAS IDENTIFIED A TOTAL OF ONE ALLEGED ACCIDENT AND THREE ALLEGED INJURIES THAT FORD BELIEVES MAY BE RELATED. ONE ALLEGED INJURY WAS TO AN OCCUPANT'S ARM FROM A DOOR THAT REPORTEDLY OPENED AND BOUNCED BACK. ANOTHER INJURY INVOLVED A DRIVER WHO ALLEGED HER HAND WAS INJURED WHEN TRYING TO GRAB A DOOR THAT OPENED. THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE EXPRESSWAY. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I WAS ON HIGHWAY 74 IN THE MIDDLE OF MORNING TRAFFIC WITH TRUCKS ON EITHER SIDE OF ME. I WAS SIMPLY TERRIFIED AND ALMOST DIDN'T MAKE IT OVER TO THE SIDE WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MY CAR STOPPED RUNNING, AND I BARELY COASTED OVER. AFTER 3 HOURS OF WAITING FOR A TOW TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP, THE DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDED REPLACE. NOW I HAVE TOW COSTS, RENTAL CAR COSTS, AND MORE BECAUSE OF A $60 PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE PRIOR YEAR VEHICLES, YET STILL FAILING ON THE CURRENT VEHICLES AS WELL.

RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR SUDDENLY FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING. INDICATOR LIGHT DID COME ON. DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH WHEN CLOSED AND HAD TO BE TIED TO OPPOSITE DOOR TO HOLD CLOSED. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, SERVICE WRITER CLAIMED TO SEE NO PROBLEM ADVISED MY HUSBAND TO TAKE HOME AND "PLAY" WITH IT. THAT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I RETURNED TO DEALER JULY 21, 2016 AND SPOKE TO SERVICE WRITER A SECOND TIME AFTER FINDING MANY COMPLAINTS ON FAILING DOOR LATCHES AND POLITELY ADVISED THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THIS AS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND THAT I WANTED FORD TO INVESTIGATE AND MAKE REPAIRS. THE REP SAID THEY WERE TOO BUSY THAT DAY BUT DID SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME TO BRING THE CAR BACK STATING THAT THE PRIOR ISSUES WERE NOT WITH THE FORD ESCAPE AND REPAIR COST WOULD DEPEND IF MY CAR REMAINED UNDER WARRANTY. I SAID WE COULD DISCUSS THAT FURTHER AFTER FORD IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND REPAIRED IT AND ALSO CHECKED THE LATCHES ON THE OTHER DOORS TO BE CERTAIN I WOULD NOT BE IN DANGER OF OTHER DOOR LATCH FAILURES. THE DEALER ALSO ASKED IF WE "MESSED WITH" THE LATCH MECHANISM. I TOLD THEM, NO, DESPITE THE FACT WE WERE FIRST TOLD TO GO HOME AND PLAY WITH IT. SINCE IT'S CLEAR FORD IS AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS, IT IS DISAPPOINTING THAT THEY DON'T JUST SAY SO THE FIRST TIME YOU TAKE THE CAR IN AND THEN EVEN THE SECOND TIME JUST SAY, YES WE ARE AWARE AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR YOU. THE SEALS ON THE AIR CONDITIONER EVAPORATOR DRAIN BOX HAVE FAILED TWICE IN 3 MONTHS. THIS CONDITION ALLOWS WATER THAT SHOULD DRAIN OVERBOARD THROUGH THE EVAPORATOR DRAIN BOX DRAIN HOSE TO LEAK OUT OF THE EVAPORATOR BOX ONTO THE FLOOR CARPET ON EACH SIDE OF THE CAR. THE WATER SATURATES THE CARPET UNDER THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS FEET. THE WATER CREATES A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION OF THE DRIVERS FEET BEING ABLE TO SLIP OFF THE BRAKE OR GAS PEDAL FROM BEING CONTINUOUSLY WET WHILE OPERATING THE CAR. FORD REPAIRED THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY 3 MONTHS AGO. THE SEALS FAILED AGAIN AND SATURATED THE CARPET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WITH WATER THAT LEAKED OUT OF THE EVAPORATOR BOX. FORD'S SERVICE MANAGER STATED "THE FACTORY FORD REPAIR KIT FOR THIS CONDITION IS NOT WORKING". HE ALSO STATED "THIS SEAL FAILURE IS AFFECTING 33% OF THE ESCAPES ON THE ROAD AND OTHER MAKES THAT USE THE SAME SEALS AND FORD IS AWARE OF THE HIGH RATE OF SEAL FAILURES". FORD TOLD US TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS BACKED UP WITH THESE REPAIRS. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE FORD ISSUES A RECALL ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES?

WHILE TRAVELING ON I-76, I CAME UPON A TRUCK-TIRE TREAD IN THE MIDDLE OF MY LANE. THE PURPOSE OF MY MAKING THIS REPORT IS TO SUGGEST THAT CONSIDERATION BE GIVEN TO BANNING RETREADS ON OVER-THE-ROAD TRUCKS. THEY APPEAR TO BE UNRELIABLE AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AT THESE SPEEDS IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY.

**THIS INCIDENT INVOLVES THE PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS/WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY BURSTING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.** MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY WE HEARD A VERY LOUD EXPLOSION. IT STARTLED MY HUSBAND, HE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SWERVED AS A RESULT OF HAVING THE ROOF TORN OPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS INCIDENT COULD CAUSE A SEVERE, LIFE-THREATENING INJURY. WE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE SAW THAT THE GLASS HAD BURST ALMOST COMPLETELY, LEAVING ONLY APPROXIMATELY 1.5" MARGINS OF SHATTERED GLASS AROUND THE EDGES. THE RUBBER BOND THAT SEALS THE GLASS ON ALL FOUR SIDES TO THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE BENT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS FLAILING ABOUT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SHATTERED PIECES OF GLASS CHIPPED/SCRATCHED/DAMAGED THE ROOF RACK, REAR PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS (THE PANORAMIC ROOF ON THE THIS ESCAPE IS COMPRISED OF TWO GLASSES, ONE IN THE FRONT THAT SLIDES OPENED AND CLOSED, AND THE REAR ONE THAT REMAINS STATIONARY) AND THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IMPACTED THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS DAMAGE. THIS INCIDENT IS NOT A RESULT OF MISUSE OR ABUSE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR. WHILST ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE CONTACTED OUR FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD US TO SEND PICTURES. WE DID AND THEY SENT THEM TO FORD CORPORATE FOR APPROVAL. THEY ANSWERED THAT SINCE THEY CAN'T SEE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENT IN THE PICTURES, THEY CAN ASSUME SOMETHING IMPACTED THE GLASS AND THEREFORE THE INCIDENT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR WARRANTY SERVICE. I WAS QUOTED THAT THE REPAIRS COULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1500USD. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION AND PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT THAT I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHARE IF DEEMED HELPFUL TO MAKE MY CASE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY ESCAPE OWNERS. THERE WAS EVEN A RECALL IN 2014 REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE PANEL OF THE PANORAMIC ROOF.

I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE REAR LIFT GATE DOOR BY THE HANDLE, AND IT ACTED AS IF THERE WERE NO SCREWS HOLDING IT TO THE DOOR. I HAD TO GRASP AND PULL DOWN ON THE DOOR TO CLOSE IT THEN AND SINCE THEN IN ALL CASES. POOR MANUFACTURE.

WHENEVER CAR IS ON AND PARKED, NOT MOVING, OR GOING SLOWER THAN 20 MPH, THE AIR CONDITIONING DOES NOT COOL AND BLOWS EXTREMELY HOT AIR INTO THE CAR. IF I AM IN TRAFFIC, AT A STOP LIGHT, GETTING DRIVE THROUGH, OR PARKING THE CAR, IT QUICKLY GETS DANGEROUSLY HOT. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE 100+ DEGREE DAYS CONSISTENTLY, WITH MY CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT I FEAR DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN THIS HEAT AS IT IS KNOWN TO KILL IN TEXAS. MY FATHER IS AN ELECTRICIAN AND WHEN I TOLD HIM HE SAID IT LOOKS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL OR POWER PROBLEM BECAUSE HE THINKS THE CAR IDLES TOO LOW.

THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH NO WARNING, WOULD NOT RESTART. HAVE HAD FOR 6 WEEKS. HAS BEEN AT DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM. 5 SENSORS ARE NOT COMMUNICATING FROM THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE CHANGED COMPUTER IT RESTARTED AND DIED AGAIN. FORD INSISTS THEY ARE GOING TO FIX IT AND ARE GOING TO FORCE ME TO TAKE IT BACK. *JS

WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE IT'S APPROACH SENSOR WENT OFF. I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO BEING IN TRAFFIC BUT THEN IT WENT OFF ON A CONSTANT HIGH PITCH SQUEAL. IT LASTED FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES THEN SHUT OFF. THEN WHEN I WAS ON THE HANDS FREE TELEPHONE DEVICE THROUGH THE FORD CONSAL IT WENT OFF AGAIN AND I COULD NOT STOP THE VERY HIGH PITCH SQUEAL AND I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK. THEN IT HAPPENED WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN. THE SQUEAL WAS SO LOUD I WANTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO FORD AND ASK FOR A REFUND. I COULD NOT STOP THE SOUND AND IT SOUNDED LIKE MY SPEAKERS WERE ON HIGH BUT I COULDN'T LOWER THE VOLUME. THIS WAS A NEW VEHICLE AND JUST DROVE IT OFF THE LOT ABOUT A MONTH OR LESS. PICKED UP 2014 FORD ESCAPE 1.6 ECOBOOST- OCTOBER 2013- ENGINE RPM' S REV TO 3-4 FOR NO REASON - SPORADICALLY- WHEN REMOTE STARTED, AND WHEN ELECTRIC STARTING CAR. BRAKES LOUD WHISTLING NOISES- COMES AND GOES- AUTO LIFT GATE OPENS HALF WAY SOMETIMES, CLOSES ON YOU WHEN YOUR LOADING THINGS SOMETIMES, REAR DOOR BEHIND DRIVER -CHILD LOCKS ON- CANT TURN OFF- PASSENGER CANT GET OUT OF THAT SIDE OF CAR- NO HEAT! TEMP GAUGE JUMPS FROM C TO H THEN BACK TO C. NO HEAT IN CAR EVEN AFTER REMOTE STARTING VEHICLE 2-3 TIMES AND LETTING IT RUN- CAR IS ICE COLD INSIDE. DEFROST DON'T WORK UNLESS ON MAX DEFROST AND ON HI - BLOWER DOESN'T SEEM TO BLOW ANYTHING - WHEN PUT ON DEFROST AND FEET IT BLOWS OUT VENTS INSTEAD. DUE TO NO HEAT INSIDE VEHICLE. FREEZE EVERY DAY DRIVING TO WORK.. BY THE TIME I GET TO WORK IT FINALLY HEATS UP- APPROX. 20 MIN DRIVE.
