Cabin lost heat November 2025. Brought it in to the local Ford dealership right away and they said replacing replacing the oil cooler hose will probably fix it. Car worked fine for a couple of weeks but the cabin heat tapered off again. Made another appointment with the Ford dealership, but the first available appointment wasn’t until 2/23/26. I tried to drive anywhere as little as possible after this because I live in Fairbanks, AK and it’s commonly -30 this time of the year. Tried to leave work on [XXX] and a warning came up as I started driving away that the engine was overheating and power was reduced to minimize damage. I put my car back in my work parking spot and plugged it in until I could get an appointment at a local mechanic shop. Had the car towed to a local shop 1/6/26 and they inspected it 1/7/26. The report came back saying there was an internal coolant leak and found hydrocarbons in the cooling system. The recommended fix was to replace the entire engine with a quote for $12,000. That is more than I paid for the vehicle and way over the Kelly Blue Book worth. I did some research and found that there is a common coolant leak issue damaging engines of a certain range of Ford vehicles that has not become an official recall yet. I looked at other Ford Escape owner complaints and it looks like my 2015 Escape 1.6L has the same engine defect. I’m afraid if I pay for the engine replacement, this will just happen again. If I don’t pay, I still owe for my lease and will only get pennies to sell it as is for parts. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, and after several attempts, the vehicle restarted but continued to stall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle Information: 2015 Ford Escape – approximately 165,000 miles Incident Description: During normal operation while backing out of a parking space, the vehicle unexpectedly slipped out of the drive gear immediately after I shifted from reverse to drive. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms indicating a potential issue. After restarting the vehicle, it briefly engaged drive but was only able to travel approximately ten feet before abruptly shifting through multiple gears without any driver input. During each occurrence, the engine surged to unusually high RPMs despite no acceleration being applied. Safety Concerns: The unintended gear changes were accompanied by loud whining noises, and the vehicle was unable to remain in any gear long enough to be operated safely. This failure left the vehicle immobilized on a main roadway, causing a traffic backup and creating a hazardous situation for myself, my children, and surrounding motorists. Current Vehicle Condition: After the vehicle was towed home, I attempted several restarts. At no time did any warning indicators or a check‑engine light illuminate. Each attempt resulted in the transmission immediately disengaging from gear when shifted into either drive or reverse, accompanied by continued loud whining noises and repeated engine surging to high RPMs without throttle input. The vehicle is currently inoperable. Additional Details: I plan to take the vehicle to Keith Hawthorne Ford for diagnostic evaluation. I am concerned that this failure may be related to a previously repaired transmission recall, as the recall documentation states that the defect may recur and could require additional corrective action. The dealership is currently requiring a diagnostic fee of $199.95 to inspect the vehicle.
Unknown coolant leak. Coolant is being lost somewhere in the engine no visible leaks. Added coolant several times.
Engine began giving white smoke from exhaust at start up. 2 Mechanics have checked it and said it’s a well Known coolant intrusion issue with these ford eco boost engines. High risk of overheating and engine failure (while driving, which is a major safety risk for my family).
Coolant leak has been checked by mechanic to not be due to problems with any hoses or connections within the coolant system. Inspection is available upon request. The issue has caused the coolant level to drop below the minimum coolant level 4 times within 3 months with no warning or visible leaking occurring. This has been a regular occurrence with this vehicle for several months now.
We had to replace the engine about 4 years ago and we’re still getting gas smell into the cabin. About 3 years ago, we broke down on the road because the transmission quit. All our repairs have been done through Ford service department. We are now broke down again because of the transmission. Something has to be done with the Ford Escape!
Vehicle is leaking coolant.
The 6F35 transmission in my vehicle is shuddering and it seems like it’s going to possibly mess up my engine or anything else soon. It also jerks a bit forward from 0-25 along with gears slipping. This has almost caused an accident for me.
all equipped with 1.6-liter gasoline turbocharged direct-injected engines — could be subject to a lack of coolant circulation resulting in the engine overheating
Purchased my 2015 escape in Aug. of 2023 used knowing that the head gaskets needed to be replaced. Took it to a certified mechanic and had everything fixed on it. Fast forward to October of 2024 - Transmission went out had to purchase a brand new transmission had it installed at the certified mechanic. Then in July of 2025 all of the sudden it overheated. Took it back to the same mechanic and once again the head gaskets are blown. They stated that coolant had leaked into the motor and now it all needs replaced. How is this not a recall yet with everything that I have been reading. A recall has been issued for a back up camera but not this. We have been driving without back up cameras forever but we cannot drive a vehicle when every few months we need to dump thousands of dollars in it.
There appears to be coolant leaking into/into the engine that compromised the seals and created oil leak/burn issues with the engine.
I am having a issue that is not new to ford, my ford escape is having the coolant leak issue, I already have spend more than 2k on it, still engine is over heating, Ford Escape reps and almost all the mechanic know the issue is very known, I hope this issue is addressed.
DRIVER'S SEAT STOP WORKING AND THE ENGINE LEAKS AND THE SUSPENSION WENT BAD AND TRANSMISSION STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ON FOULK ROAD IN WILMINGTON DELAWARE APRIL 18, 2025 AND WAS VERY SCARED AND NERVOUS..
While driving to Las Vegas, I noticed the engine felt unstable and coolant levels were low. After topping off coolant, the car drove normally for the remainder of the trip, but the air conditioning intermittently blew hot air. A mechanic performed diagnostic and pressure tests, but no codes appeared. The issue recurred with repeated coolant loss and stalling sensations. The following day, the vehicle overheated on the freeway and stalled. A mechanic diagnosed a blown head gasket and cracked cylinder head, which cost me $4,500 to repair. Less than a month later, the same issue happened again. This defect creates ongoing safety concerns due to the risk of sudden stalling, overheating, and potential engine fire. I have learned that this issue is widespread in Ford Escape EcoBoost engines, and Ford has not issued a recall or permanent fix.06
UNKNOWN, but appears like other version of Ford Escape the 2015 suffers from the same fuel pump issues. On at least 10 moments the car stalls and dies during driving. When brought to Fords attention, they have on 2 times indicated that no error codes or way of duplicating problem. I had independent car repair place as well look into the issue with the same response. We now only drive the car if we have to and only in short areas where we are not driving on the freeway and if we can walk home. Please add this to the recalls.
While driving, the car hesitates changing gears. Sometimes the car will not go in gear or go into Park. Had a recall in 2022 for some bushings and cable shifter. The car is too dangerous to drive and mechanics have stated a new transmission is needed.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle failed to move. The contact placed the vehicle into Sport Mode and was able to drive as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact replaced the vacuum, and the engine light went off. The contact had an independent mechanic arrive at the residence, and the mechanic determined that the vehicle was about to throw a rod. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

My 2015 Ford Escape, VIN [XXX], equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, has experienced a repeat engine failure due to what appears to be the known “coolant intrusion” defect currently under active litigation (Miller v. Ford). The original engine failed due to loss of coolant into the cylinders, causing rough idle, misfires, abnormal engine noise, and loss of performance. Ford replaced the entire engine under warranty approximately 24.5 months ago. The replacement engine is now exhibiting the same symptoms, including: Rough/unstable idle, especially on startup Abnormally loud engine noise Suspected internal coolant loss with no visible external leaks Reduced performance and hesitation This is the second major engine failure in a short time, creating a serious safety concern due to potential sudden loss of power while driving. The EcoBoost coolant intrusion defect is widely reported in Ford Escapes from this model year and is the subject of a class action lawsuit. Ford has not issued a recall for all affected vehicles, leaving owners at risk of repeated engine failures. I am submitting this complaint to document the repeat failure, as it poses a risk to safe operation and may affect other vehicles on the road. I can provide repair records, photos, and video evidence upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Transmission sticks and only will tend to shift once it hits 3 RPM! And jerks
On 7/25/25 at about 1pm my son was driving the ford escape 2.0 engine (2015) and it started jerking, stalling while driving. The AC shut off suddenly and the car was overheating. He almost got in a car accident when it suddenly stopped! Turns out it was coolant oil intrusion issue and now requires a new engine 12k
Coolant intrusion
Vehicle overeheated and stalled. Engine light came on. Had it to garage who told me call Ford because vehicle needed a new engine. Got a second opinion a few months later, and they confirmed that coolant was leaking in to the spark plug cylinders. And yes it needed a new engine. Prior: At 80000 miles the transmission needed replaced.I was told that my my car was notorious for needing transmissions and engines.
I own a 2015 Ford Escape with an EcoBoost engine. I had to repeatedly refill the coolant but could not find any visible leaks. At one point the engine did overheat. Eventually, I took it to a Ford dealership, where the mechanic inspected the engine and found coolant inside the cylinders. I was told this was a known issue with EcoBoost engines. The engine had to be replaced entirely, and I was forced to pay for the replacement out-of-pocket. This is a major safety concern, especially since it can lead to engine overheating and sudden failure while driving. Ford did not cover the repair even though this appears to be a common defect.
Defective turbo charger.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illumined. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 64,140.

My vehicle overheated on a drive home from work on an expressway doing approximately 72mph. Without any warning, my car flashed a notification that the engine temperature was too hot and I needed to stop safely. The car would not accelerate, in fact, it decelerated the next 4 miles before I could find a gas station to stop. The coolant reservoir was empty (which was full when I started my car) so I refilled it again. I did end up replacing the coolant reservoir but this issue kept recurring. Fast forward 2 weeks and my car decided it didn’t want to accelerate on my drive home from work. I took it to a local mechanic who said there was oil soaking up the spark plug in the 4th cylinder. Said mechanic replaced all 4 plugs, coil packs and valve cover gasket. I live in Michigan and the heat has been extensive the last couple of weeks. I noticed an oil leak under my car during the hot weather. However yesterday ([XXX]) the temperature here was in the 70’s and the leak wasn’t as bad. I decided to google “2015 Ford Escape 1.6L oil leak during hot weather” and discovered that this is a KNOWN issue and that there could potentially be a recall. I went on the NHTSA website, plugged in my VIN and found there is currently no recall. Ford needs to realize that their consumers purchase cars because they need them to get to work, dr appointments, church and common errands for everyday people. With the economy being the way it is, we can’t afford to continue dropping $1,000’s of our hard earned money on a regular basis. I’ve kept up the routine maintenance on my vehicle, and constantly defend Ford products because this is the first major engine incident I’ve experienced with my vehicle. Please contact Ford and implore them to make things right for the countless people that are experiencing the same issue as I currently am. I’m on a very fixed income and can’t afford a new engine let alone a new car. Thank you for taking the time to read this information. I'm having TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.. AND IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.. AND THE SHOP MY CAR IS IN SAID THEY'VE REPAIRING TRANSMISSIONS IN A LOT 2015 FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES.. AND THE ENGINE LEAKS THESE ARE SERIOUS DEFECTS THAT (FORD) NEEDS TO FIX FOR THE OWNERS OF THIS (YEAR) IT'S COSTING $5,000 TO REPLACE FOR THE TRANSMISSION.. I'M SO SO SO SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AND THE COMPANY.. YOUR DOING RECALLS FOR ALL THESE OTHERS VEHICLES BUT THE 2015 ESCAPE .
In March 2025 the check engine light came on. Diagnostic showed issue was a misfire for cylinder 3. Mechanic said spark plug in cylinder 3 was seized and he recommended bring the vehicle to a ford dealer. They removed the spark plug and retapped the cylinder outlet. In June 2025 the check engine light came on. Diagnostic showed issue was a misfire in cylinder 3. This time the ford dealer said the issue is a coolant intrusion and I need a new engine. I called the Ford Customer Satisfaction number only to be told my vehicle isn’t part of the recall for the coolant intrusion. They could do nothing to help me.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while idling and while driving at various speeds, there was a significant amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to A1 Auto 3 Brothers Car Repair, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed due to piston rings failure, and the turbo charger also failed. The dealer determined that the engine and the turbo charger needed to be replaced. The warranty company informed the contact that only the turbo charger was covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

Driving home from work vehicle would not move forward. Had towed to Ford dealership. Told transmission was over heating, requiring a new transmission at a cost $7,400. Purchased the vehicle one year ago from an auto dealership. Was told by the Ford dealership that they see a lot of this happening to this vehicle type.
Vehicle threw code for Ignition Coil 1 malfunction, replaced all 4 ignition coils & spark plugs but the car later threw codes for Ignition Coil 1 and 2 malfunction. I observed antifreeze was leaking from the car only while in operation. Lines were replaced and the car was thoroughly checked for leaks. Antifreeze was kept topped off routinely while troubleshooting. Went to start car and it wouldn't start. Had it towed for repairs and received diagnosis that engine overheated due to an internal coolant / antifreeze leak that allows coolant to enter into the cylinders of the engine. This is a known manufacturer's defect that has caused total engine failure and requires replacement of the engine block. Quote to repair the vehicle exceeds the vehicle's value.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the vapor canister purge valve. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 24N07. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.

Engine overheated. Coolant Bypass Valve needs replacement, which is known issue in this model for various years and only one year (2014) was identified for recall, although it has been a common problem for many Ford Escapes model years after 2010. Thermostat assembly, check engine light, and overheating are issues that arose due to the faulty coolant bypass valve. A possible outcome is engine fire, as indicated by information from the manufacturer.
Unknown, got this year model because ford supposedly fixed the head gasket issue in the 2015 model. 70k miles i bought used. Within a month a ton of white smoke started comming out of the exhaust on startup and car if driving for over 25 minutes will shake and shut off until I wait an hour it will start again with the white smoke. Reader says coolent bypass sensor as the only code. I changed it twice and nothing is fixed so I doubt that is it. Probably headgasket like all the other ford escape owners and ford doesn't seem to care.
Check engine light went on and code P1450 for evaporative emissions purge valve. After refueling vehicle, it does not start without reving the engine at a high rate and still sometimes does not start. This is a common warranty item on many Fords during the time but not for this specific VIN
TWO THINGS: Transmission failed, as it frequently does, in this car at around 90K. Shop said it's a known flaw and Ford said sorry, despite having pointed related issues out to our dealer several times. Replaced at tranny shop to the tune of $7K+. Less than a year later, the engine failed due to known structural flaw with cylinders where coolant intrudes. Engine completely shot - dealer said sorry pay us $13K to replace it. Both these things have been parts of class-action lawsuits. Please remedy. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while at a red light, the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The contact shifted to neutral to keep the vehicle running. While in reverse, the vehicle started to shake abnormally. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission was hot and was welded to an unstated object, and there was a leak coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, opened a case, and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and was driven 10-ft and stalled again. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

Overheated due to an internal coolant / antifreeze leak that allows coolant to enter into the cylinders of the engine. This is a known manufacturer's defect that has caused total engine failure and required replacement of the engine block. Mechanic quoted $13,000, more than the value of the car.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, while driving or while reversing from a complete stop, the vehicle made an abnormally loud whining sound. Additionally, the contact stated while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle temporarily responded as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle then jerked, lost motive power, and failed to exceed 2-3 MPH. The malfunction warning light and the check engine warning light were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the message "Passenger Air Bag Off" was displayed while the front passenger's seat was occupied. The contact stated that the failure recurred while her son was test-driving the vehicle. The contact's son was able to check the transmission fluid level and confirmed that no issue was found. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

The problems on my 2015 Ford Escape are related to the last recall, NHTSA Recall 22V413/Safety Recall Notice 22S43. On 02/21/2025, I had stopped by a Traffic Stop Light Signal. When I tried to proceed after the lights turned green, my car would not move forward and would behave like it was in Neutral mode making a lot of noise. I called Ford Motor Company and asked for remedy, and I was told the previous recall has already expired and that there is nothing that they can do now. I got my car towed to a Ford Dealership and they have sent me a cost estimate of over $8,000.00 to get the issue fixed. I am wondering if NHTSA can make Ford Motor Company do the necessary repairs on my Ford Escape, since this problem is related to the last recall. Thank you.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER FUELING I NOTICED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY CAR STALLS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ARE ON AND CAR IS SERVICED REGULARLY. BUT,ONE DAY AFTER FUELING 15 MINUTES LATER ,WHILE DRIVING MY CAR STALLS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO AUTO ZONE AMD OREILY’S TO GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE READ. THEY BOTH COME BACK AS FAULTY EVAP PURGE SOLENOID. I SAW THAT THE FORD FOCUS IN THE SAME YEAR HAS HAD THERE EVAP SOLENOIDS RECALLED. COULD IT BE POSSIBLE THE FORD ESCAPES EVAP SOLENOIDS NEED TO BE RECALLED AS WELL??
The engine in my 2015 Ford Escape failed due to coolant intrusion leading to the long block and coolant system needing to be replaced. The problem was diagnosed by the Ford service technician and Ford service advisor when it was taken in for service after the heating system stopped working, the car started lurching when driven, and then the engine light turned on. If I had not taken my Escape in immediately, it was at risk of catching fire. The coolant had completely emptied into the engine and had corroded a spark plug to the point that it was stuck in the engine.
Leaking coolant overheat the engine. It was unexpected and left us stranded since the car could not be driven once it overheated. Got coolant and fill it in, so was able to drive back home. But the leak is so severe I had to park my car in my garage and stop using it.
Coolant intrusion on the engine block which is causing misfires. Issue was confirmed by an independent service center.
We were driving down the highway when the ford escape shut down and the the check engine light came on for the Evap system several parts have been replaced but I get the same code and the car is dying at idle and losing power a different times while driving

The engine failed at 96,000 miles and we had it replaced with a new engine. Then at 131,000 miles the dealer stated that the engine has failed again and needs to be replaced because there is some delaminating happening in the engine. The 1.6L ecoboost engine is known for early failure. The new engine is only 3 months out of warranty and Ford will do nothing to assist in the engine replacement.
The engine suffered a catastrophic failure on 11/26/2024 with coolant leaking into the engine producing a white noxious smoke from the exhaust, engine overheating, and engine misfires. The engine light did not appear. It was the smoke from the exhaust that alerted me to the issue. At the time of the engine overheat I was driving interstate 10 in Desert Center CA. It was apparent the coolant was leaking. There were no mechanic shops nearby. A good samaritan driver had coolant to add to my engine. I had the engine inspected by three separate mechanics, all identified the issue as a known defect in the 2.0l ford ecoboost engine. The engine failure occurred at approximately 73,500 miles, which I believe is premature given the vehicle's maintenance history and mileage.
EVAC Canister in rear of vehicle fails. While driving, a noise can be heard from the rear section of the vehicle followed by a foul odor. Then, the vehicle dash board will light up ALL warning lights followed by a complete shut down while driving! The issue seems to take place after filling the gas tank. This dangerous situation has happened on numerous occasions and almost caused several accidents as a direct result. Many many other owners of this vehicle are reporting the same issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at 35 MPH, when the accelerator pedal was depressed there was an abnormal sound and the vehicle independently shut down. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle stalled. The failures occurred on several different occasions. The "Electrical Malfunction" message was displayed on the instrument panel and the Check Engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after waiting for an hour, the vehicle restarted. The failure occurred on several different occasions; the infotainment screen had to be reset whenever the failure occurred. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound whenever the vehicle was in reverse. The Check Engine warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to get a diagnosis however, the contact stated that the failure was not diagnosed or repaired; The contact stated that the independent mechanic gave a diagnosis stating that the water pump needed to be replaced and repaired the vehicle however, the contact was concerned that the failures that had occurred was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Vehicle was inspected by third party shop and a Ford Dealership. Both indicated that this is a manufacturer error and should be considered a recall. Lots of different Ford models have experienced this manufacturing error and this issue was considered a recall. This includes: 2015-2018 Ford Edge 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ 2017-2019 Escape 2017-2019 MKC My 2015 Ford Escape is built incredibly similar or the exact same as these other models and since it is experiencing the same issue as these other models, the recall should extend to mine and be covered under Ford as a recall. Error: Presence of coolant in the engine cylinders, white exhaust smoke and/or runs rough condition (with or without an illuminated MIL) 2.0L EcoBoost engine Error Code: P0217 TBS: 22-2229
Head gasket is bad according to the mechanic.
The vehicle has coolant leaking into the cylinders. The dealership shows that it was due to overheating but the vehicle has not overheated. The dealership states that the engine needs replacement but is unable to verify any damage in the cylinders. The vehicle was taken in due to misfiring and the vehicle dying upon starting after a short period of time being turned off.
We bought this car used from the Ford dealership in Ellensburg WA in 2021. It had 79k at the time. We performed a lot of maintenance on the vehicle; new tires, alignment, coolant flush, transmission flush, spark plugs, and updated the Synce software. Then the turbo failed about 5 months later. And we replaced the turbo with a brand new one at the same dealership for 5k. Then we replaced the coolant system. We performed all the recalls as they came in, regarding the transmission shifter and something to do with a solenoid, and we never missed an oil change. In September 2024 the transmission failed and it needs a whole new one. There's a class action lawsuit in CA for the type of transmission in this year of Ford Escape, but it's only for CA residents. Too bad. It's been less than 3 years since we bought it, we've paid twice the price it's worth in repairs and on maintenance, and now it's junk. DON'T BUY AN ESCAPE!
At 120k the transmission went bad. Dealership charged $7k to replace. We chose to replace because it was cheaper than buying a new vehicle. A few months after the transmission was repaired, we started losing a lot of coolant. The dreaded coolant leak through the head gasket into cylinder 2 is the diagnosis. Dealer, told us $12k for a new motor. This is not okay!!!
Coolant has leaked into the engine and the whole engine needs to be replaced
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with spark plug failure. The contact was informed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the cylinder and engine failure. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was coolant intrusion in cylinder #2 and engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under an unstated recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

THE CAR KEPT OVERHEATING AFTER i PURCHASED IT EARLIER THIS YEAR. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AND THE INSURANCE i ADDED ON COVERED MOST OF IT FOR A USED MOTOR TO BE INSTALLED. THE DEALER NEVER FIXED THE RECALL ON THE LOCKS WHICH THE DOORS OPENED WHEN I CAME TO A STOP. IF MY GRANDKID OR DOGS WERE IN THERE THEY COULD HAVE FELL OUT AND GOT HURT.

My Ford Escape ecoboost engine had a coolant leak. It gave no warning and suddenly stopped running in the middle of the road while I was driving. I opened the engine and there was a small piece of metal that looked like it was about to catch fire. I have visited the ford dealership multi times asking for them to repair car and fix any known issues and they ignored this well known problem with the 1.6 engines and racked up unrelated charges on unnecessary fixes (I believe) to get the most money out of me before catastrophic engine failure. If I had driven 100 yards or more I'm sure my engine would have completely caught fire.

2015 Ford Escape with Ecoboost-Coolant continues to go below MIN line despite filling each week to attempt to maintain necessary level. Coolant leaks on ground when filling, leaving chemical waste in environment and wasted product. Unknown source of leak. White smoke from exhaust and engine. Car heavily vibrates while in idle. Issue continues to get worse and worse. Heat goes out when coolant is low causing windows to fog while driving in cold weather conditions causing unsafe conditions for driver and others on the road. Mechanic can't find leak and there are not currently any recalls. I am unable to afford continued inspections to find issue.
Was driving normal, got an engine fault light then overheated. Engine has coolant intrusion. Ford won’t do anything about it!!
As I was driving my car started to jerk, drag backwards and stop. I put it in park in the middle of the road and turned the car completely off. It would start and drive, then jerk, try to slide backwards again then stopped. The car starts, but the shift freezes after try to go.

vehicle "slips" with acceleration and antifreeze is leaking in engine block which is a documented recurrent issue with ecoboost engine. I am fearful for safety as noted fire hazard which has been stated in past and is documented as part of lawsuit for same engine in Canada/US. Additionally the noted loss of acceleration has me afraid to use on highway as can see this leading to accident (noted that other cars drive around vehicle when forced to use on side streets. I brought to ford dealership o/a March 2023 (Sedano Ford, La Mesa CA) and they quoted over 10k to fix the safety issue and stated Ford will not do anything to assist when I stated that thought should be fixed as safety issue and latent defect that known by manufacturer when under warranty and pretty sure before bought vehicle . As this is latent defect, belief is that ford should fix vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate and reliable as would not have bought vehicle if known of issues . Additionally called Ford customer service dept. to see if would assist with issue o/a Aug 2023 which informed that issue was not covered and no record of issue... PLEASE FIX MY VEHICLE TO ENSURE SAFE TRANSPORTATION The contact stated that antifreeze is leaking into cylinder 3 and after dealership checked the vehicle they confirmed that more than just spark plug needed to be replaced.
Engine misfired and then completely stalled at 75MPH on freeway. This alone was the major issue putting us and the public at risk. Had car towed to mechanic who indicated there was coolant intrusion into the cylinder block, thereby causing the engine to fail. This apparently is an ongoing issue with Escapes and there is litigation to this point. Well, it happened to me. Due to the failure of Ford to deal with this issue (it is well known and documented) My family was put at risk. We now have a worthless piece of junk, a car that is in pristine condition and no engine. All symptoms and issues were the same.. initial engine warning light and then the failure occurred. The only other sign was increased coolant usage.
I have coolant leaking into cylinder 4 of my 1.6L engine. I’m constantly having to refill my coolant tank because the coolant is getting burned up when it leaks into my engine which in turn produces big white clouds of smoke from my exhaust pipe. It is available for inspection. I’m constantly worried for my safety because my car could potentially overheat and lead to a fire if my coolant is going elsewhere other than its designated place. My car has been to numerous mechanics in order to figure out the issue and has recently been confirmed on [XXX] by Dave Knapp Ford located in Greenville, Ohio that there is coolant leaking into cylinder 4. My car has not been inspected by any other higher ups. My engine light has not been working since the day we bought the car in August of 2023 for reasons we do not know of, so we were not instantly notified that there was an issue with the engine. The symptoms we did notice were loss of coolant almost everyday even after filling up, no visible puddles of coolant on the ground, white smoke from exhaust, a burning smell, bubbling in coolant tank, violent shaking of entire car, car dying after starting engine, and very low rpm when in idle. These symptoms really became visible at the start of November of 2023 and have gotten worse since then to the point where my car barely wants to start. Suddenly smoke billowed from the exhaust. No notification arose through the car's system. The shop tore it apart to find the problem. Said it was an eco boost failure, which also ruined the catalytic converter. A week and $5837 later, they said it was fixed. The next morning it billowed smoke from the exhaust. Took it back to the shop. They then said the problem was a ruined engine. The engine is backordered and will cost about $8000 to replace. The car's engine trouble system never came on despite the numerous codes that are associated with an eco boost failure and I'm sure countless other codes that should indicate an engine failure problem. I travel I-25 and US Highway 6 twice daily for work. If the engine had seized, since it had been damaged, that could have been disastrous for others and me. It is not that hard to alarm codes for safety reasons. Industry does it all the time. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I have been having issues with coolant loss for over a year now. After doing research online I'm seeing this is a really common problem for Escapes and other models built around the same time frame. I believe this issue is with Ford and they should be responsible to fix it, considering all the evidence supporting how common of an issue this is.

While my family and I were returning from lunch and pulling into a parking space at my moms apartment complex, my 2015 Ford escape SE eco-boost, had a sudden unintentional acceleration where it basically accelerated forward and we hit a building. During this, the brakes were unresponsive, and there was building and vehicle damage. Luckily, the post to the building prevented us from driving through the entire building. I have read several reports of the Ford escape experiencing this exact problem. We are lucky we were not killed. Ford has had no recalls for this very deadly issue.
Vehicle is burning thru coolant. Has to be topped off multiple times a week. Have had the to replace the coolant bypass valve twice.

Update to previous report filed Report No. 11521661. Another class action lawsuit filed on this same issue alleging FORD's knowledge of this issue and lack of response. Is the NHTSA going to act? https://www.cars.com/articles/2013-2015-ford-escape-fiesta-st-fusion-transit-connect-recall-alert-1420694733115/ While driving 80 miles an hour on an 8 lane freeway, with the flow of high traffic-including semi commercial traffic, and my child in the car, the vehicle went into limp mode due to an overheat warning. I was unable to accelerate and was able to "limp" to the side of the road. Very scary and VERY dangerous. My child and I are lucky something worse did not happen. Root cause lack of coolant circulation resulting in the engine overheating. This possibly has caused a crack in the cylinder head, resulting in a pressurized oil leak that, in the presence of a heat source such as a hot engine surface, increases the risk of an under-hood fire. Through research, I found this is a known issue with my vehicle and besides a limited recall (of which my VIN is excluded) there is a class action pending in California. I contact FORD customer service and its answer was my VIN isn't included in the recall so nothing they could do. When I brought up on FORD's knowledge and request for someone in its escalation team to call me, they said a supervisor would call and the customer service supervisor said- my issue because my VIN not included in the recall. There have been 30+ cases of engine fires related to this issue and hundreds if not thousands of FORD owners affected. How is the NHTSA not taking action? This is very dangerous and a very expensive cost to consumers who were misled by FORD to purchase these dangerous lemons. This is a dangerous defect that FORD has known about for years. NHTSA should require FORD to recall these for the safety of children and consumers. https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCOURTS-caed-2_21-cv-00468/pdf/USCOURTS-caed-2_21-cv-00468-0.pdf https://www.change.org/p/hold-ford-accountable-for-fixing-their-ecoboost-engines https://www.lieffcabraser.com/2021/05/ford-ecoboost-engine-defect-lawsuits-consolidated-in-california/
The car was running just going down the road then all is a sudden it gave a jerk and the temp gage went up to hot and a warning came on saying to stop the vehicle, which I did and it started to cool down. Then I drove it a little further and it began to smoke and I got it it a place to park and we looked and the coolant was empty. So I had someone get me some coolant and filled up and I started the car and it began to smoke like a freight train, so I shut it off and called a tow truck to have it towed to the closest garage and they have inspected it and it has a crack in the long block. This has been a complaint by several ford owners and Ford does nothing to fix the issue or replace the motor. They supposed to be investigating but we was told there was nothing to be done by Ford and we have to pay $6200 for a used motor that will most likely fail as well. We just to get our car fixed and I believe Ford should pay for a new motor since this is a manufacturer defect. According to the mechanic and the reviews I have researched on this problem. Please help us. Thank you
Currently a Lemon Law Lawsuit is going on out west in reference to the Ecoboost failure which my vehicle year is included in that. The risks include engine failure and risks of fire. Currently my vehicle is missing/over heating/white smoke pouring out of my exhaust/losing coolant. This has caused my vehicle to be a major safety hazard for my children and myself. Ford has been called but was told nothing can be done since no recall has been put into effect.

Engine completly locked up while driving on 01/13/23 it is full of oil and didn't say it was getting hot. During acceleration it started making a whistling sound the day before now my vehicle is stalled leaving me stranded I bought this brand new from ford.
The engine light remains on, the error is a misfire in cylinder #3. The repair technician said there is coolant getting into the cylinder due to a leaking head gasket or cracked block. Contacted Ford and they said this is a common issue but my manufacture date is outside of the existing recall for this issue. The Ford service manager also said he see this often and hopefully the recall will be extended to other build dates as all the engines are the same and he is not surprised by problem. The solution is a engine replacement, about $9,000. The recall need to be expanded!!
lack of coolant circulation resulting in the engine overheating. This has caused a possible crack in the cylinder head. Lost power while driving on the freeway. The system is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of my minor son was at risk. Warnings came on for overheating, check engine light, and safe mode put on while on the free way so could not accelerate.
I was pulling out of our alleyway onto a main road when the vehicle seemed to have stalled in the middle of the road and the steering assist warning came on. Luckily the driver of the car that would have T-boned me was paying close attention and was able to stop in time. I suspect some drivers may not be so lucky. I have yet to contact Ford or any other mechanic about this as this was the first time that it's happened. I have read that there are recalls for a very similar if not same issue with 2014 Escapes and I believe the 2015 Lincoln. I've also seen in message boards online that this seems to be a very common problem with most modern Ford Escapes. Seems dangerous and that they should be forced to do a recall on most of their Escapes. The contact stated that the issue is that steering control module keeps shorting out. The contact stated that their local Ford dealership has refused to repair the vehicle.

I took my escape to the dealer because of no heat on a Tuesday they filled the antifreeze because it was low I drove it on Thursday then on Friday I had to have it towed to the dealer because all of the antifreeze was on yhe ground I guess there's a problem with the eco boost escapes I believe it has the same problem
Check engine light came on. Low on coolant. 2 days later low on coolant again. Engine needs replaced at 101,000 miles after faithful regular maintenance. Have read multiple reports from other owners of this same problem. This should be a recall! So unfair to pay so much for a new car then have to pay again at such low mileage. Will definitely consider another brand at next purchase. And just now the dealership said they can't even get a new engine and a rebuilt one will be $2,000 more than a new one. I am just sick over this !! Ford needs to do better!!
While driving the vehicle, I received a notice on the dash screen stating that the engine was overheated and to pull over as soon as possible. I followed the instructions (within 30 seconds) and shut the engine off but before I could exit the vehicle, there was a large amount smoke/steam coming from the engine area and it had also gotten into the inside of the vehicle. I began coughing and had a hard time catching my breath. I exited the vehicle. Once I was able, I raised the hood and found that the coolant reservoir was empty. I went up to the local parts store and purchased some coolant and once the engine had cooled off, I added it to the coolant tank. The temperature gauge returned to normal and I was able to drive it to my mechanic's shop. Upon inspection, it was found that the engine head was cracked and warped as well as the engine block. I will need to replace thye engine.

https://www.motorbiscuit.com/avoid-ford-ecoboost-engine-all-cost/ Everything listed in this article happened to our Ford Escape From the EcoBoost, catalytic convertor, vacuum pump for the brakes, timing chain, head gasket, and main fuel line. We have paid over 6k to replace these parts. Only to be told the car needed a new PCM computer to run. We took the car to Thoroughbred Ford in Kansas City to replace the PCM, which the part itself cost us 1k. Ford replaced the PCM and the car still didn't work after more than one diagnostic test and another associated testing, they told us it wasn't a PCM problem at all, that in fact, the engine needs to be replaced. Meanwhile, Ford wants to charge us $2300, for a car that is known for having Ecoboost issues.
The temperature gauge pegged-out at FULL HOT in a matter of seconds, the engine overheated. The safety risk would be a seized or blown engine while driving. The problem was checked by two independent auto repair facilities and an authorized dealer service department. The authorized dealer representative said the vehicle had a "coolant invasion of the #1 cylinder. The car had a defective block so changing the head gasket was not recommended, replacing the engine was the prescribed fix. Each week for a period of three weeks the 'check engine' light came on. I went to my mechanic and he checked it out with his electronic engine diagnostic port, each time it showed that the #1 cylinder misfired. He could not find any reason/couldn't figure it out. The fourth week when the screen showed red when the engine overheated was the first time there was a light/warning other than the check engine. I immediately stopped, turned the engine off, opened the hood and notice the antifreeze reservoir was empty. Sharing this information helped my mechanic to piece the problem together and said the antifreeze was getting into cylinder #1and that I needed a head gasket, which was confirmed by another mechanic. They both recommended going to Ford for the work since they could get the part(s) quicker and perform the work more timely. Since Ford said the engine was defective then why doesn't Ford assist in the cost of repair and/or replacement?

The engine in the car has a cracked engine block. It first showed up as engine issues and the the spark plug could not be removed. The engine was reviewed by an independent garage and then a Ford Dealership and was verified as a cracked engine block that was allowed coolant into the cylinders. The dealership has another escape in with the same problem. We have been told that the VIN number does not indicate this engine as an issue, but it is as the block is cracked. The independent shop told us that the issue is a manufacturing defect in the block due to a soft material used in creating the engine. Once the engine light came on we brought the car to the shop and it was diagnosed as an issue. The car sat at the Ford dealership for 3 months and we were told the engine was on backorder and corporate was giving us the run around that the engine kept get putting on backorder. We are very frustrated with Ford as they are not stepping up to the problem with a manufacturing defect.
Vehicle while driving seemed to not shift gears properly.took to dealer 4 months after purchased.they said could not find anything.but did find coolant hose needed replaced.i paid for that.still had the same problem.took vehicle to second dealer found turbo boost loosing power.they fixed that I paid for but still not shifting properly.now my engine started knocking I took to mechanic he said it's the transmission and now the engine block cracked where it connects to transmission.i feel this shifting issue has caused engine issues.ford will not help me.
Was driving and came to a stop and vehicle said transmission not in park and shut off. Tried to restart and it did even attempt to turn over so I was stuck in the lane of traffic on the road.
Vehicle had a new Ford manufactured motor put in, while driving since the new motor was put in, it developed a knock and at one point started smoking. Luckily we were in town and at a lower speed we were able to pull into a parking lot and turn it off. We were unable to tell where the smoke was coming from. The car has been at the shop for a month and we were notified that the engine had failed again with less than 10,000 miles on it.
I had to replace my transmission in August of 2020 due to brushes being missing or not functioning properly. The 1st and 5th gears were completely destroyed in my transmission and led my car to completely not running and having to be towed.
While driving, the vehicle’s transmission starting coming out of gear, then lose of power, go back into gear for a moment, then go out of gear causing coasting and lose maneuverability. After being shut down immediately and towed to a mechanic, diagnostic is transmission out for some reason and misfires in two cylinders. Vehicle has less than 80K miles. Can’t really tell as the digital screen also went out. Vehicle has had regular service by a Ford dealership.
My car has never been able to pick up speed when I need to accelerate onto the highway. It takes much longer to gain speed than much older cars I've had like the 89 Silverado or 2001 Durango. I will Floor the gas to gain acceleration, and it's like I was still pushing the gas for 30 to 40 mph. It's like the car has to think for awhile. Then it will shoot up with a large jerk. The car has done this sine 30k miles in Jan. 2018. I've almost been hit several times merging onto the highway

I learned last week that the vehicle that I lease (it's actually a car subscription) from SwingleCollins & Associates ([XXX], CISR, COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT MANAGER,[XXX], O [XXX] | F [XXX] ) has been recalled after entering the VIN # for my vehicle. I immediately contacted the vehicle owner (i.e. SwindleCollins) to alert them that the vehicle had been recalled and is not safe. While it appears the manufacturer of the vehicle, Ford, does not currently have parts to repair the vehicle, SwindleCollins has refused to replace my vehicle until such parts are available from the manufacturer. This puts me and my passengers at risks and seems in violation of the contract and I would like to therefore report the incident. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I had drove my car to chick fil a. I was inside for less than 5 minutes waiting on my order. When I came back outside my car was on fire. I’ve read articles about many other people having problems with their Ford Escaped catching fire. https://www.fordescape.org/threads/2014-ford-escape-engine-fire.88258/ If I had stayed in my car for a few more minutes I could’ve been inside and I could be dead right now. There seems to be a issue with the 2013 and 2014 model years combusting suddenly but, I think they need to include the 2015 model.
Coolant leaked into cylinder 3 and caused engine failure. Vehicle towed to Price Ford dealership where they investigated and said vehicle would need new engine $8854.83. Date 3/2/2022 mileage 53182. Check engine light on rough running.

First problem- over the course of the last few years, the car intermittently gets "jumpy" when changing to/from different gears like (from reverse to drive OR drive to reverse, all after completely braking-not in the middle of gear shift). It has not completely stalled but feels very close to it. i had brought it in in the past and they had never found anything wrong with it. It does not always happen. Second problem- the rear view back up assistance has not been working properly for over 3 years. I will be in reverse and either the beeping continues even though nothing is around or, the screen goes blank and shuts off. I was told this would be at my expense, not a recall. this does not happen all the time but is very often.
- When pushing start, the car cranks but no start. Failed to start with new battery. - I took the car to Ford dealer maintenance shop and couldn't identify the problem and contacting Ford Engineering for further investigation. - There is no any message or warning on the dashboard and also what the maintenance shop informed me. All the lighting system is Ok, even the radio is working. - According to the mechanic, the issue is new one and not has been seen before.
Transmittion went out without any warning was driving and started jumping bad and just shut down. There was transmittion fluid, and it just secede up with under 100k miles. Then shift cable broke 3 months later without any warning. Was parked changed, and I had backed into a parking spot, and car went into reverse could not get out of reverse. Put the car in park and still showed that car in reverse with the back up camera. Had to get it towed both times
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, white smoke came out of the exhaust tip. The contact was able to pull over and had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the head gasket replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated cylinder #3 misfire warning message was displayed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and the water control valve was replaced. Recently, the contact stated that the same failure recurred and that the same repair was needed to be performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was referred to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

My ford has had white/blue smoke clouds coming from the exhaust for weeks. I scheduled maintenance at a ford dealership and was told a diagnostic was not even worth the money because the knew exactly what the issue is, the coolant is leaking into the engine, causing the engine to smoke and eventually will misfire, overheat and catch fire. I was told there is no repair, the engine needed to be replaced and because my warranty had expired, I must pay to replace the engine. Although, Ford is aware of their mistake and faulty parts, Ford is not accepting responsibility for the issue they caused innocent buyers. I am a single mother of an adopted kid. I bought this car 3 years ago under the impression Ford is a honest company.I am now seeing otherwise. I now am stuck with making a decision during a pandemic on paying upwards of 6 to 7,000 to replace an engine on a vehicle that has a faulty system, caused by Ford. If paying thousands of dollars on a vehicle that I can hardly afford now isn't hard to swallow, the newly purchased engine will result in the same failure because FORD HAS'NT FIX THE PROBLEM. Ford refuses to put in a new engine and Ford has not fixed an issue that has been occurring for almost 10 years, forcing Ford owners into debt and bankruptcy because where would a person like me get the money to pay for something like this again and again? I cant even afford to get into another car. I am scared to put my son in the vehicle now. I need help
Owner of a 2015 Ford Escape 1.6L. White plumes of smoke have started to billow out every time I start my vehicle in the morning and then again on my way home from work. No indicator light or error codes are showing as to why coolant is leaking in the cylinder heads.
Problem with 1.5L, 1.6L, 2.0L Turbocharged engine that Ford has been aware of since 2010. A Ford dealership told me this is a common defect with these engines. Coolant leaks into cylinders and ruins the engine. There is an active lawsuit on Ford as of December 2020. Ford dealership is trying to charge me 8500 dollars for an engine rebuild and will not give me a price on replacing the engine with a manufactured engine.
FORD FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THE COOLANT LEAKING ISSUE WITH THE 1.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. DID A PATCH JOB FIX 2 YEARS AGO AND FAILED TO REPAIR WHEN TECHNICIANS STATED THE ENGINE NEEDED REPAIRS. THERE IS COOLANT IN THE 4TH CYLINDER OF THE ENGINE FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS.

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY TIRES SLIPPED AND TRIED TO KICK ON TRACTION CONTROL BUT INSTEAD DISABLED MY DRIVING UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER AND STOP. TURN THE CAR OFF FOR A COUPLE SECONDS THEN RESTARTED IT BACK ON. DID THAT 3 TIME IN MY WAY INTO WORK. I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THE TRACTION CONTROL UNTIL I GOOGLED WHAT HAPPENED AND LOT OF RESPONSES SAID THE TRACTION CONTROL GETS FAULTY. SO NOW EVERY TIME I DRIVE I HAVE TO GO INTO THE SETTINGS AND TURN OFF MY TRACTION CONTROL OR IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. LUCKILY NOBODY WAS BEHIND ME.

ON THE DATE OF 04/07/21 I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO WORK, HAD PULLED OUT OF DUNKIN DONUTS AND WENT UP A SMALL HILL TO A STOP SIGN I HAD THE AC ON, AND MY WINDOW ROLLED DOWN AS I JUST LEFT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT AND AS I GET TO THE TOP OF THE SMALL HILL, MY AC TURNS OFF AND MY CAR DISPLAYS A MESSAGE SAYING TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK AND IT COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED RESTARTING IT AND NOTHING I HAD DASH LIGHTS EVERYTHING BUT DIDN'T START. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD, THE FIRST TIME IT SHUT OFF AND DISPLAYED A STARTING SYSTEM FAIL MESSAGE TOOK IT TO DEALER AND CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. COULD THIS BE RELATED TO A RECALL!

MY ENGINE FAILED IN 2019. COOLANT ENTERED CYLINDER NO. 2 AND WAS BLOWN OUT THE TAILPIPE. ALL COOLANT WAS LOST. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR AFTERWARDS WITHOUT CAUSING SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE. ENGINE WAS REPLACED BY FORD. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF FORD ECOBOOST ENGINES, E.G., 1.6, 2.0 AND 2.5L, HAVE SIMILARLY FAILED. FORD HAS REPLACED MANY ENGINES UNDER WARRANTY, BUT IN MANY CASES THE VEHICLES WERE JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND OWNERS HAD TO PAY $8,000 TO $12,000 OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS TO HAVE ENGINES REPLACED. THESE ENGINES EXHIBIT A DESIGN DEFECT THAT ALLOWS COOLANT TO ENTER THE CYLINDERS. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL OR EXTENDED THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF ALL ENGINE COOLANT CAN CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE ARE MANY AREAS ON TODAY'S HIGHWAYS WHERE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY STOP. IN MY OWN CASE, FORD REPLACED MY ENGINE UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, BUT KEPT MY VEHICLE AN ENTIRE MONTH WHILE WAITING ON THE NEW ENGINE TO ARRIVE AND FOR INSTALLATION; FORD DID NOT HOOK UP MY BATTERY TO A CHARGER DURING THIS TIME AND THE BATTERY RAN DOWN, LIMITING ITS REMAINING USEFUL LIFE. I HAD TO COMPLAIN TO GET A LOANER VEHICLE WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP. SHORTLY AFTER THE NEW ENGINE WAS INSTALLED, THERE WAS A TERRIBLE RATTLING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD THAT WAS DUE TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION FLYWHEEL--POSSIBLY DAMAGED DURING THE ENGINE REINSTALLATION. THESE ECOBOOST ENGINES ARE A DISASTER. MY ENGINE FAILED AT 36,000 MILES--MANY FAIL JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. BUT, SINCE YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE YOU MIGHT BE WHEN AN ECOBOOST ENGINE FAILS, IT'S ALSO A SAFETY PROBLEM.

HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO GARAGE AND WAS TOLD THE COOLANT VALVE WENT SUDDENLY, CAUSING ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND ENGINE CYLINDER TO CRACK. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 71000 MILES. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM REPORTED FOR 2014 FORD ESCAPES, IN WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THERE WAS NO RECALL ISSUED FOR 2015 ESCAPES DEALING WITH THIS SITUATION.

PURCHASED A NEW 2015 ESCAPE HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALER MULTI TIMES FOR TURBO REPLACEMENT AND THE HEADS REPLACED. WAS SMELLING COOLANT IN THE CAR TOOK IT TO THE SAME DEALER FOR REPAIR. THAT WAS OVER 7 WEEKS AGO. FORDS WILL NOT APPROVE THE REPAIR THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. I HAVE A ACTIVE POWERTRAIN AND FORD ESP WARRANTY.
I LEFT THE CAR ON SINCE MY DAUGHTER AND HUSBAND WERE IN THE CAR. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT FROM THE STORE, I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE BUT IT WOULD NOT LET ME. SO I TRIED TO TURN OFF THE CAR BUT IT WILL STILL STAYED ON. AFTER ABOUT 1 HR THE CAR STARTED TO TURN OFF SLOWLY. IT IS COMPLETELY OFF NOW BUT WONT TURN BACK ON. LUCKILY WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT OF A DOLLAR TREE.

I NOTICED THAT MY HEAT STOPPED WORKING WHILE IDLING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I CHECKED THE ENGINE COOLANT LEVELS AND DISCOVERED MY ENGINE COOLANT WAS PRETTY LOW. I FILLED THE COOLANT AND THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. A FEW DAYS LATER; HOWEVER, I NOTICED THE ISSUE AGAIN. UPON CHECKING MY COOLANT LEVEL AGAIN, I SAW THAT THE LEVEL HAD DROPPED AGAIN. I CHECKED EVERYWHERE FOR LEAKS BUT SAW NONE. I THEN BROUGHT MY CAR TO A MECHANIC WHO ALSO CHECKED FOR LEAKS. HE TOLD ME THERE WERE NO EXTERNAL LEAKS. THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO ENGINE, A COMMON PROBLEM THEY SEE WITH FORD VEHICLES. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT WORTH IT TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THAT I WAS BETTER OFF TRADING IT IN FOR A NEW CAR. I'M SO UPSET BECAUSE I TOOK EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF MY VEHICLE AND NOW NEED TO CAR SHOP DURING A PANDEMIC WITH POOR CREDIT DUE TO PANDEMIC CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS NOT RIGHT THAT THE COMPANY WILL TAKE NO OWNERSHIP OVER THE ISSUES AND PUTS IT ON THE CUSTOMER TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES.

TRYING FRANTICALLY AND AS HARD AS I COULD I COULDN'T GET MY BRAKES TO PRESS DOWN TO SLOW. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO DOWN SHIFT MY CAR AND USE THE E-BRAKE TO GET TO A SHOULDER AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I HAD A FRIEND WHO'S A MECHANIC CHECK OUT MY CAR AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS MY VACUUM PUMP FOR MY BRAKES. HE ALSO NOTED WHEN HE SAW WHAT MY CAR WAS AND THAT IT WAS AN ECO BOOST THAT THIS PROBLEM IS WHAT THEY REFER TO AS A SOCCER MOM KILLER. HE'S SEEN THIS BEFORE. WHEN THE PUMP FAILS IT SHOOTS SHRAPNEL INTO MY TURBO THEN INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE THAT WILL COST ME $5000-8000 TO FIX NOW. I HAVE SEEN OTHER FORD MODELS WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT HAVE RECALLS ALREADY BUT NOT MY SPECIFIC MAKE AN MODEL.

WITHIN LAST WEEK, TWICE WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON A CITY HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. LIGHTS, RADIO, DASHBOARD, ETC. ALL CONTINUED TO WORK. NOTIFICATION CAME ON DASHBOARD STATING "WARNING, VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK." FORTUNATELY, IN BOTH INSTANCES I WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER INTO A PARKING LOT AND AVOID CAUSING A WRECK OR BEING WRECKED INTO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! WITH CAR SAFELY IN A PARKING LOT, I MOVED MY TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. I TURNED MY KEY TO THE "OFF" POSITION. I REMOVED MY KEY. I REINSERTED THE KEY AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE. LIGHTS, RADIO, DASH, ETC. ALL CAME ON. HOWEVER, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THERE WAS NOT A "CLICK" AS IF THE ENGINE WAS TRYING TO TURN OVER. THERE WAS ONLY A NOTIFICATION OF "SYSTEM START FAULT." I TRIED OUR SPARE KEY, AND RECEIVED SAME NOTIFICATION. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO MOVE TRANSMISSION FROM PARK INTO NEUTRAL TO BE TOWED. STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP. ABANDONED VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 2 HOURS, RETURNED TO VEHICLE, AND VEHICLE STARTED. TO CLARIFY, EVERYTHING LISTED HERE HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES AND ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR. TESTS AT BOTH AUTOZONE AND O'REILY AUTO PARTS CONFIRM - AS I SUSPECTED, SINCE LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC. WOULD TURN ON - THAT THE BATTERY AND THE TRANSMISSION ARE WORKING JUST FINE. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE IN OUR 2015 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM, WE BEGAN TO EXIT AND FOUND WE HAD NO BRAKES. WE HAD TO UTILIZE THE PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE POWER ASSIST HAD FAILED BECAUSE THE VACUUM PUMP LOCKED UP CAUSING THE CAM DRIVE TO BREAK INSIDE THE CAM SHAFT. THIS ALSO CAUSED METAL SHAVING CONTAMINATION IN THE ENGINE OF THE CAR WHICH CAN CAUSE THE MOTOR TO LOCK UP AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. OUR RESEARCH REVEALED THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM IN THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE; HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED FOR THE 2015 FORD ESCAPE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW/FAULTY PARTS ISSUE THAT STILL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING; BUT THEY REFUSED AND ALSO REFUSED TO LET US SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE REGARDING THIS. SO, WE ARE STUCK WITH A $2,200 CAR REPAIR BILL ON A 4 1/2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 74,000 MILES THAT FORD KNOWS IS AN ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT. THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE POSSIBLY A NEW MOTOR IF IT LOCKS UP DUE TO THE METAL SHAVING CONTAMINATION. THE NEXT DAY ON DECEMBER 25TH AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT SHUTOFF INITIALLY AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY IT SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AND WHITE SMOKE POURED OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. I PULLED IT BACK INTO THE GARAGE, AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING DECEMBER THE 26TH. AFTER SOME TIME THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE, AND THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BEEN FOULED WITH COOLANT. AFTER MORE TESTING AND HOLDING THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. WHAT'S ODD IS THAT I NEVER WITNESSED THE CAR OVER HEATING, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON TILL I WAS DRIVING THE CAR BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON THE MORNING OF DECEMBER THE 26TH. FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE SAYS THAT THEY'LL PAY 1/4 OF THE COST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I'VE FOUND QUITE A FEW ESCAPE OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE OF COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY NEED A NEW ENGINE. THESE ENGINES ARE FAILING PREMATURELY DUE TO ENGINES OVER HEATING AND THE BLOCKS FAILING. I SUSPECT THAT THE COOLANT SENSOR IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. THIS 2015 ESCAPE WAS PURCHASED NEW AT THE END OF 2014, AND MAINTAINED BY REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE. *TR

FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I STOPPED FOR GAS. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER REFUELING. A FEW MINUTES LATER IT STARTED AND RAN WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE SECOND TIME I WAS ENTERING A COUNTY HIGHWAY AT APP. 35 MPH AND THE CAR STALLED OUT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT ONTO THE SHOULDER AND THE CAR RESTARTED A FEW MINUTES LATER AND RAN NORMALLY. THE THIRD TIME, APPROXIMATELY A WEEK LATER, I WAS DRIVING IN THE PARKING LOT OF A SHOPPING MALL AT APP 20 MPH. THERE WAS A LOUD, CONTINUOUS NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE I WAS DRAGGING AN OBJECT. THE CAR THEN STALLED AND WOULD NOT START FOR A FEW MINUTES. IT NOW RUNS NORMALLY BUT I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH CAPITAL FORD OF WILMINGTON, NC FOR 12/31/2019. EACH TIME THE STALLING HAPPENED, IT SEEMED AS IF THE ENGINE WAS NOT GETTING ANY GAS.

MY VEHICLE HAD STALLED ON 3 DIFFERENT TIMES BUT THEN STARTED BACK UP SO DID NOT THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEN IN OCT OR NOV IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL WHEN I PULLED OUT OF A BUSINESS ONTO A STREET. A WEEK OR 2 LATER I NOTICED MY HEATER DID NOT WORK. CHECKED COOLANT AND IT WAS VERY LOW. TOOK TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID WATER IN ENGINE AND OI IN COOLANT. REPLACE ENGINE FOR 8000 DOLLARS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I HAD HAD MY OIL CHA GED AT THT DEALERSHIP PRIOR AND NO DOUMENTATION OF LOW COOLANT. I HAVE 110.000 MILES ON MY CAR. IT IS THE SAME ENGINE THAT FORD IS HAVING PROBELS WITH. FORD SAID THEY CAN NOT BELP ME. NO RECALLS ON MY CAR. I HAD 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAD A FORD EXPLORER BEFORE WITH V6 AND HAD 190.000 MILES. ARE THERE ANY MORE COMPLAINTS ON THE 2015?

THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING PARKED UNDER A CARPORT FOR ALMOST 24 HRS. WHEN IT INEXPLICABLY CAUGHT FIRE. THE ENSUING FIRE BURNED THE CARPORT AND SPREAD TO THE STRUCTURE CAUSING EXTENSIVE PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF THE RESIDENCE. A PASSERBY MADE THE ELDERLY OCCUPANTS OF HOME AWARE OF THE FIRE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET OUT. THE AREA OF FIRE ORIGIN WAS IDENTIFIED AS BEING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE APPEARS TO BE SOME OTHER EVIDENCE AND/OR INSTANCES OF FIRES IN THESE VEHICLES OCCURRING THE SAME WAY.

WHILE TURNING INTO A SUBDIVISION MY CAR REGISTERED A WARNING FOR OVERHEATING. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGNS OR SMELLS OF OVERHEATING. I PARKED THE CAR IN A FRIEND'S DRIVEWAY AND TURNED IT OFF LIKE THE WARNING SIGNAL INSTRUCTED ME TO DO. UPON CHECKING, THE COOLANT WAS WITHIN RANGE AND NOT EMPTY. I LEFT THE CAR PARKED OVERNIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE CAR AND IT IMMEDIATELY REGISTERED HOT, AND PEGGED OUT THE NEEDLE. I PURCHASED A NEW COOLANT SENSOR FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP BUT THAT DID NOT CHANGE THE CAR REGISTERING HOT WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED ON. THE CAR SPENT A WEEK WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON AND STILL REGISTERED HOT WHEN STARTED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO HILBISH FORD IN KANNAPOLIS, NC. THEY REPLACED A SECOND SENSOR AND A COOLANT BYPASS VALVE. THE REPAIR COST WAS $682.74. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD WHERE MY CONCERN HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED AND ASSIGNED CASE NUMBER - CAS-24112659-S7N8M3. WHILE RESEARCHING POSSIBLE RECALLS I DID DISCOVER THAT 2013 AND 2014 FORD ESCAPES HAD RECALLS FOR COOLANT ISSUES. MY ESCAPE IS A 2015 AND HAD ONLY 35239 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND A POSSIBLE RECALL BE CONSIDERED.

IN JULY OF 2018 THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND HAD TO BE TOWED TWICE. TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE. THE ISSUE COULDN'T BE DUPLICATED WHILE IT WAS IN THEIR CARE. THE ONE DEALERSHIP DID AN INSTALL AND PROGRAM G10 ELECTRICAL/DRIVEABILITY?! THE VEHICLE DIDN'T STALL AGAIN UNTIL TWICE THIS MONTH JUNE 2019. IT OCCURRED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND I WAS STUCK BETWEEN THE DRIVEWAY AND THE ROAD. AFTER SITTING 15 MINUTES IT STARTED UP AGAIN...LESS THAN ONE WEEK LATER THE VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 40MPH. LUCKILY I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY. I WAS ON A RURAL ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO USE WHATEVER MOMENTUM WAS LEFT TO ROLL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD 8-10 CARS BEHIND ME AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. HOW I DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IS STILL BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE!!! I AM NOT THE FIRST!!! THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING OCCASIONALLY AFTER BEING DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AND THEN TURNED OFF AND SITTING FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. I WOULD RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND AFTER PUTTING IT IN DRIVE, IT WOULD GO A FEW YARDS, THEN DIE AND THE FUEL LIGHT WOULD COME ON. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE USUALLY WORKED, AND SOMETIMES, MULTIPLE RESTARTS WERE NEEDED. SOMETIMES, IT WOULD START TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AFTER RESTARTING, AND FLOORING THE ACCELERATOR MADE IT KEEP GOING. AFTER A FEW MONTHS, THIS BECAME A REGULAR OCCURRENCE AND I BECAME AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THEN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING WHEN IT WAS IDLING, SUCH AS IN A TRAFFIC JAM OR AT A RAILROAD CROSSING. REPEATED RESTARTS DID NOTHING; IT KEPT STALLING AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE VEHICLE RUNNING AGAIN WAS TO DRIVE IT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DON DAVIS FORD IN ARLINGTON, TX AND THEIR MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAILURE OF THE ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER SYSTEM, WHICH WAS COVERED IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY.

IT SOUNDED ALSO LIKE A HEAD GASKET BLEW ON THE 1.6 LITER ECO-BOOST ENGINE AS THERE WAS A RATTLING NOISE LIKE TUMBLING PEBBLES IN A CAN OR DRUM. WE LOST POWER. BLUE SMOKE STREAMED OUT THE TAIL PIPE OF THE CAR. WE COASTED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A STOP. BY THE TIME THE CAR CAME TO A STOP SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LOOKED TOWARD THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. FLAMES WERE COMING FROM BELOW THE CAR JUST INSIDE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. WE QUICKLY GOT EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING OUT OF THE CAR. THE FLAMES SPREAD VERY QUICKLY. ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AND LIMP MODE CAUSES UNSAFE BREAK DOWNS: WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH THE HIGHWAY MY CAR VERY RAPIDLY DECELERATED AND SEVERAL SERVICE LIGHTS TURNED ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT. THE REPORT INDICATED A FAILURE TO THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM (DEFINED AS AIRBAGS OR SEATBELT). THIS MEANS THAT IF THE SUDDEN DECELERATION WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS HAD CAUSED A COLLISION THE AIRBAGS MAY HAVE ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. IN ADDITION TO THE SAFETY SYSTEM MALFUNCTION A POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION, AND TC, IVD, RSC EVENT OF FAULT WAS REPORTED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. THEY SAID IT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. IT DOESN'T SEEM SAFE TO HAVE A CAR RAPIDLY DECELERATE ITSELF WHEN A PART FAILS ESPECIALLY IF THAT CAUSES THE COMPUTER TO REPORTS A SAFETY SYSTEM MALFUNCTION AS WELL.

THE CAR ACCELERATED AFTER SLOWED DOWN TO PARK. IT SURGED TOWARD A CEMENT WALL AND ONLY SCRAPED IT BY ME TURNING WHEEL BUT WENT BETWEEN TWO CEMENT PILLARS AND KNOCKING OVER A CEMENT BENCH. I HAVE A FUEL SMELL INSIDE OF THE CAR INTERMITTENT UPON STARTING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO FIX IT.
A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER BUYING THE CAR, IT STARTED STALLING AFTER DRIVING IT HOME FROM WORK.TOOK TO DEALER PUT ON THE COMPUTER, NOTHING SHOWED UP AS BEING WRONG? THEY TOLD ME TO PUT SEAFOAM GAS TREATMENT IN DIDN'T WORK. THE STALLING KEPT HAPPENING AFTER DRIVING A LONG DISTANCE. AFTER MANY TIMES TO THE DEALER (1TIME THEY KEPT IT 2 WEEKS) THEY STILL COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM? DEALER DECIDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASY THE ONLY THING THAT CONTROLS THE IDLE. IT STILL CONTINUED TO STALL ON AND OFF AFTER A LONG RIDE. THEN IN FEB. 2016 IT STALLED ON I-75 SEVERAL TIMES THIS TIME NOT EVEN 10 MILES FROM WORK. WE WERE GOING SLOW DUE TO ICY ROADS HAVING TO PUT IN NEUTRAL JUST TO KEEP FROM STALLING. BACK TO DEALER, NOTHING SHOWED UP ON COMPUTER. MY WIFE THEN CALLED DEALER CONCERNED THAT IT COULD STALL WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE DEALER DECIDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASY AGAIN. STUMPED ON HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM GOT THE CAR BACK SATURDAY. WENT TO WORK ON MONDAY AFTER WORK STOPPED TO GET GAS SHUT OFF RESTARTED CAR AND IT STALLED?? THERE SEEMS TO BE NO SPECIFIC REASON OR CONDITION THAT IT KEEPS STALLING. IT STALLS WHILE IN GEAR OR PARK? THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE BODILY HARM. DO I HAVE A LEMON?

I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW ABOUT A YEAR AGO. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY I NOTICED AN INTERMITTENT HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER SLOWING OR FROM A FULL STOP. THE HESITATION VARIES FROM ABOUT TWO SECONDS OR LONGER. WHEN THE CAR DOES ACCELERATE IT SURGES FORWARD AT A FAST RATE OF SPEED. WHILE TRYING TO TURN LEFT AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH SUFFICIENT TIME MY CAR HESITATED UPON ACCELERATING CAUSING THE ONCOMING CAR TO BRAKE HARD IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING ME. THIS CAR ALSO HESITATES AFTER PULLING OFF A ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT, IE., STORE, SCHOOL, AND, AT RANDOM, WILL HESITATE UPON ACCELERATING FOR A SEVERAL SECOND DELAY ONLY TO SURGE IN SPEED MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO INITIALLY CONTROL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER SIX TIMES AND ONCE TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER. ALL SAY THE BECAUSE THERE IS NO FAULT CODE THEY CANNOT FIX IT. I CALLED FORD ENG. AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. THE LAST TIME I HAD THIS CAR TO THE DEALER THE INVOICE STATED, "NO CODES" AND ROAD TESTED BUT THE MILEAGE IN WAS THE SAME AS THE MILEAGE OUT INDICATION THAT NOTHING WAS DONE. IT HAS BECOME OBVIOUS THAT FORD DEALER I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM IS NOW PATRONIZING ME. THEREFORE IT HAS BECOME A WASTE OF TIME TO KEEP BRINGING THIS CAR BACK. I HAVE FOUND A MULTITUDE OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT FORD VEHICLES ON THE INTERNET. MANY WERE BEING PUT OFF WITH THE SAME EXCUSE, "NO CODE." I AM A FORD RETIREE AND HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED THAT BOTH A FORD DEALERSHIP AND FORD ITSELF HAVE PATRONIZE ME TO THE POINT I BELIEVE I AM BEING PLAYED BECAUSE OF MY SENIOR AGE. I BELIEVE THIS "HESITATION" DEFECT TO BE VERY DANGEROUS AND CAN RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. THANK YOU. *TR

ENGINE FAILS TO ACCELERATE FROM STOP. (RANDOM) WHILE IN PITTSBURGH TRAFFIC, VEHICLE RUNS FINE, STOP AT STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO PASS. TRY TO TAKE OFF AND VEHICLE STARTS MOVING LIKE IT SHOULD AND THEN SUDDENLY LOSES ACCELERATION, ENGINE IS UNRESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE, RPMS GO DOWN TO JUST ABOVE IDLE WITH GAS PEDAL PRESSED TO FLOOR, IDLE WHEN RELEASED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF NOT CONSCIENCE OF TRAFFIC AROUND YOU AND KEEPING IN MIND THAT THE CAR MAY ACT UP WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. IT IS IN DEALERSHIP NOW, FORD TECHNICIANS ARE HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING CULPRIT OF PROBLEM.

THE OIL FILTER POPS OFF THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE CEASED AND THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS OR WARNING SIGNALS IN ADVANCE OF THE VEHICLE CEASING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN ENGLEWOOD, NJ WHERE I PURCHASED IT, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE OIL FILTER POPPED OFF.

SYMPTOM: FUSE FOR INTERIOR LIGHTS, INCLUDING GEAR INDICATOR ON SHIFT, CONTROLS IN STEERING WHEEL, FAILS. ISSUE BEGAN 2ND MONTH OF OWNERSHIP 2/2015. 4TH INCIDENT ON 9/17/15 BROUGHT MY ATTENTION TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES PERTAINING TO ALL INSTANCES LEADING TO FAILURE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FUSE. INCIDENT: TRAVELING AT 55 MPH WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF A 5 LANE HIGHWAY, I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR. I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR WITHIN A FEW SECONDS AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, DASH BOARD, GAUGES, EVERYTHING SHUT THEMSELVES OFF AND THEN EVERY GAUGE AND WARNING LIGHT LIT UP, BUT NO ENGINE. I MOVED THE GEAR SELECTOR INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE KEY TO OFF WITHOUT LOCKING THE STEERING WHEEL, AND TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IT DID NOT RESTART. I MADE MY ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER, STOPPED THE CAR, PUT INTO PARK AND TURNED THE CAR ALL THE WAY OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS NO LONGER WORKED. THE CAR RESTARTED AND I DROVE ON. I REALIZED THAT EVERY TIME THE FUSE FOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS HAS FAILED, IT WAS AFTER THE CAR HAD SHUT ITSELF OFF, ALL ELECTRICAL LIGHTS AND WARNING LIGHTS HAD GONE OFF AND THEN ALL WARNING LIGHTS AND LIGHTS, EXCEPT INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME BACK ON, REQUIRING TURNING THE KEY TO OFF ENGAGING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK AND RESTARTING THE CAR. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR EVALUATION. THE 3 PREVIOUS TIMES, THE FORD DEALERS' (2 DIFFERENT DEALERS) SERVICE DEPARTMENT TECHNICIANS HAVE NOT FOUND A CAUSE FOR THE FUSE FAILURE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 10 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL FUSE NUMBER 60 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

WARNING ON SCREEN. TAKE CAR TO DEALER IMMEDIATELY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND AFTER SITTING THERE FOR OVER 3 HOURS I WAS TOLD THE ISSUE WAS THE COOLING TEMPERATURE SENSOR. WHEN THEY CAME TO TELL ME THE CAR WAS FINISHED I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING BUT UNPLUG THE SENSOR AND WAIT 5 MINUTES THE RECONNECT TO CLEAR THE CODE. SINCE THEN THE CAR TAKES A LONG TIME TO HEAT UP FOR THE HEATER. IT WILL BLOW COLD AIR. I AM DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CAR. I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO WAIT OVER 3 HOURS AT THE DEALER EITHER FOR JUST UNPLUGGING THE SENSOR. NOT A GOOD WAY TO KEEP CUSTOMERS. *TR

THE ADDED REMOTE START WORKS. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU OPEN ANY DOOR TO GET IN THE ESCAPE...THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. I WOULD THINK THAT THIS WOULD INCREASE THE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE ENGINE, STARTER, AND THE IGNITION DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOUR HAVING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AGAIN.
