Complete loss of power and the transmission just going out, there was no warning or indication that something was wrong with the transmission prior to it going out on the highway. Car has 120K miles on it. It was diagnosed as needing a new transmission, and cooler. The pump may have needed to be replaced as well. But the transmission was pushing fluid out into the engine. If the car was fixed, I would likely need a new engine as well. This was a platinum edition 2016 Ford Escape.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the ABS warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the ABS was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. Additionally, while driving approximately 40 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle shuddered and lost motive power. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road, where a passerby assisted the contact in disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, and the vehicle was restarted but lost motive power while attempting to accelerate. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be rebuilt, and that the ABS system was defective and needed to be replaced. The transmission was replaced but the ABS system was not replaced because the part was discontinued by the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

With no warnings the automatic transmission went into like limp mode. Shifted hard then no acceleration when pressing on gas. Faulty transmission light came on. I bought extended warranty when I purchased this car in 2020 from dealer. The warranty expired in August 2024. The transmission tore up in Oct. 2024. Took it to transmission guy who put it on code reader. 3 codes came up and he said it was bad. I bought the car at 55,000 miles and it tore up at 104,000 miles. Don't know if dealer ever changed fluid before I bought it but they never said anything to me about changing the transmission fluid. Transmission guy told me the filter was internal and couldn't be changed. The dealer said fluid should be changed around 50 to 60,000 miles and I guess they didn't do it. I went to them for 4 years for servicing and they never mentioned it to me. I lost my husband in 2021 so I was uneducated on things of that nature. I feel Ford should have to fix it or compensate for it.
The fuel injector and the one of the cylinders has gone bad and has been available for inspection. My safety has been put to rest due to engine overheating. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer police or any insurance representative. The check engine light did appear on November 1, 2025. The car started overheating on November 4, 2025. According to other owners that I have spoken to, this is a constant problem with this make and model. I believe it is a manufacturer defect since so many other owners are experiencing the same issue.
After 104,000 miles Experienced Transmission issues. Been told this happens to several Ford Escapes' after 100k miles.
The transmission failed at 88,000 miles with no warning. The transmission started whining, and suddenly started slipping, and ultimately gave out, leaving me stranded on the side of the highway. After contacting a transmission specialist, I was informed this is a common problem with this vehicle, and they had seen multiple of the same model for the same issue, saying it was a manufacturer defect. I had to spend 6,000 dollars to have the transmission rebuilt. The check engine light came on after the transmission had completely failed.
Transmission abruptly failed on train tracks no warning nothing

We were driving on the expressway in our 2016 Ford Escape in the far left lane (4 lanes) and when my husband pushed on the gas, it revved up. Then it seemed like we started to lose power. A red exclamation point error came up on the dashboard, but I couldn't tell what it said. My husband was somehow able to get us across the highway (in busy traffic) to the right lane, where we wer able to get off the exit and pull into a parking lot. If the car has lost full power on the interstate, there's no telling what would have happened. Our car was towed to the shop and they're saying the transmission needs replacing ($7200). There is a known recall for 2013-2019 Ford Escapes concerning the power train / transmission. Our VIN is not listed, but I find it highly suspect because we had no warning messages or symptoms before hand.
The contact called on behalf of her father who owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The vehicle experienced multiple critical system failures within one week of purchase: Transmission failure (slipping, delayed shifting, and stalling during acceleration) Braking system malfunction (brakes jump or pulse when pressed, inconsistent stopping) Fluid leakage inside the cabin near the gas and brake pedals (believed to be either brake fluid or transmission fluid) The vehicle is currently undrivable and can be made available for inspection upon request. The vehicle became a severe safety hazard while I was operating it with my infant child in the car. The brakes were unresponsive and unpredictable, creating near-miss situations when trying to stop. The transmission failure caused stalling at intersections and hesitation when accelerating, putting me at risk of being rear-ended. The fluid leak near the pedals presents a possible fire hazard or the risk of further brake failure. I feared for my life and my child’s safety. The problem has not been confirmed by a mechanic yet because the dealership, Platinum Auto Sales in Arlington, VA, refused to take the vehicle back or inspect it after I reported the issues. I was dismissed when I returned to report the failures. I am currently seeking an independent inspection, but I want this formally documented as an urgent safety matter. I am in the process of filing reports with the Federal Trade Commission, state consumer protection, and local police regarding fraud and sale of a dangerous vehicle. I can make the vehicle available for inspection by NHTSA or a certified safety inspector. There were no warning lights or error messages at the time of purchase. The problems appeared within 24–48 hours of driving the vehicle: Difficulty shifting and hesitation when accelerating began almost immediately Brake issues and pedal fluid leakage appeared by Day 3 By Day 5, the vehicle became unsafe to drive altogether

The driver turned off and restarted the vehicle, and resumed driving; however, the failure recurred after driving 100 ft. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure was related to the transmission, and the driver was informed that it was a common failure. The mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle could not be serviced because the transmission was electric. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence; however, the failure recurred increasingly while driving. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

Transmission failure. Had to have the transmission repaired at 132,000 miles. Had idle issues and inconsistent speed while driving on the road, constant jerking causing me to lose speed while driving. Check engine light illumination was on but this is not always a tell-tell sign of the transmission failure in these vehicles.

I was driving down the road with my wife and friends when my vehicle started to lose forward power. It then started to jerk. i was able to make it off the road where I then turned the vehicle off and restarted it then began to drive again it did not make it much further before completely being unable to drive. There was no transmission light on. I was on the interstate just minutes before and if had happened while i was driving there I would have been stranded and in an unsafe situation. I had it towed to a shop and they told me a part of the transmission must have broke inside and ot would need to be replaced. I then took it to a transmission shop and they said the same thing. My car is available for inspection. I did not get it inspected by the manufacturer or anyone else besides those two shops. The problem has been reproduced. Once the engine raches a certain temperature the transmission stops working while the transmission does work it only drive 18mph before giving out. Last time I drove it home it abruptly stopped and jerked. The transmission light only comes on once the car stops moving.
2016 escape. Was driving vehicle without incident. Stopped at traffic light. Upon light turning green, gas pedal depressed, engine operational RPM needle working but vehicle would not move. Would not engage. No fault lights illuminated. No check engine light came on. Was able to limp off main road. Had vehicle towed to Ford dealer. Upon diagnostic they said nothing at all was wrong. Until they checked transmission fluid and found metal in it. They stated the transmission fault sensor should have engaged long before this happened. It never did. Vehicle has 123k on it. Pristine condition otherwise. Quoted 8k by Ford to put it rebuilt transmission. Can't afford that as a single, public educator, mom. Had recalled bushing replaced in Dec 2022 after similar thing occurred and had to have it towed.

My car overheated when I pulled over I noticed my engine coolant low. I had a mechanic add more fluids then a day later car shuts off why I was going 65 on a highway . I was pushing down on the gas peddle but my car would not go. It was barely moving no matter how far I pushed gas peddle. I finally found a somewhat area to pull over . I almost died or was seriously injuried in a few close call accidents this day. Had someone look at it from a garage in town he said it was a fuse and a cylinder misfire. No engine light no issues then my car over heated again no warning just shut down but the car still on Emmy lights didn’t work my turn signals didn’t work . Then my car stopped dead in a busy roadway over heated smoking . Now I’m time I need an engine replacement Let me add my car only has 60000 miles on it and is in great maintained condition I am a single mother of 3 young kids and take care of my mom. Not employed due to a bad relationship and trying to get back on my feet and now this . Coolest leaks into cylinder causing over heating and catastrophic engine damage , so upset over this and ford won’t even diagnose my car with out a 200 dollar charge to start with . It’s pathetic
65,000 miles, coolant intrusion into #1 cylinder confirmed by Ford service center. First signs were Check Engine Light, rough idle. Replaced all spark plugs and coils. Check engine light returned the following day with loss of coolant in tank. Engine runs rough and overheats with coolant loss and continued intrusion into engine, endangering occupants
The vehicle flashed to move it to park, which i did and then the vehicle proceeded to die in the middle of a busy intersection. My children were in the vehicle on an incredibly hot day, surrounded by lots of traffic, making it incredibly dangerous for us. I had my vehicle towed to my home, where my husband, who is a mechanic, was able to figure out that the 50 amp fuse in the fuse box had blown, but it never registered on the scanner, that the fuse was the issue. He changed the fuse, thus fixing the issue. I would just like other owners of this type of vehicle to know, that hopefully this could also be their issue, and a simple fix.

The car was running fine, but check engine light came on. Took it to the dealer to have it checked out. They told me there is coolant intrusion into engine cylinder 2 (I think number 2) and the engine needs to be replaced. Apparently this is a known issue that can lead to overheating, “catastrophic” engine failures and potential engine fires. They quoted me roughly ten thousand dollars to have it replaced. I told them it was still running fine. They said I could maybe keep driving it but there is no way to know what will happen and when but it needs to be replaced. I am only now seeing page after page of consumer complaints regarding the same issue.
Transmission, currently available for inspection. Vehicle stalled in traffic. Yes, confirmed by dealership No other inspections On occasion it did seem to stay in low gear too long. Dash message said Transmission Fault on September 10, 2024 but no other warnings prior. While driving "Transmission Fault" displayed on dash after revving up, gearing down, and apparently shifting into neutral while driving causing it to stall in traffic. It was towed to dealership and diagnostics showed a transmission replacement was needed but the cost was book value of the vehicle, $9100+. Vehicle has 111,000 miles.

I recently purchased a 2016 Ford Escape with a 6f35 transmission in it. I have been experiencing hard shifts out of the transmission. This is a current on going problem with many users of this vehicle with this transmission. The valve body fails causing the harsh shifts, soft shifts, and shift flares which leads to catastrophic failure. Please issue a recall of this as it’s a defect in the development of this transmission.
The car completely died at a busy intersection with no previous issues. Ford states I need a new transmission.

This car is an accident waiting to happen. 1st car kept on shuddering or pulling while driving over 40 miles per hour. Took it to Ray Price Ford in Stroudsburg PA 4 times they couldn’t diagnose or replicate what I was talking about. I had to pull over a few times because I thought a cable popped or I hit something. Took it back the 5th time 6/2020 92,000 miles just out of warranty they finally diagnosed it with a bad transmission. $6,000. I fought with them and was able to get them to split the cost because they weren’t able to diagnose it when it was under warranty. I thought I was past the nightmare called Ford Escape. However around 5/2024, 115,00 miles my daughter was driving the car on the highway. Cruising at 60mph, when she had to press the gas pedal to speed up to get to her exit. The car lost power, she floored it and it wouldn’t move. She pulled over and called us. She said the check engine light came on and the car had no pickup when she stepped on the gas pedal .I told her to drive it home with the hazards on. We took it to Ray Price and they said the turbocharger was on the way out and cleared the code. I called Ford customer service to complain again about the piece of garbage that they sold us and their answer was if the car is over 7 years old and 100,000 miles they can’t help. I think that’s total [XXX]!!! I have never had a car that the transmission went before 100,000 miles. Ford customer Service is a joke. There was just a huge recall on their F-150’s for transmission problems. They are making dangerous vehicles and they need to fix them. It’s not fair that you buy a vehicle for $30,000 or more and then you have to replace the transmission and turbocharger just over 100,000 miles. These vehicles should be recalled and fixed once and for all. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have 2 ford escapes a 2015 and a 2016 (2016 referenced in this complaint) both have experienced catastrophic transmission failure within weeks of each other. The transmission would slip and hard shift, eventually disable completely and would indicate the transmission needed to be serviced.

The car started revving without any warning lights while I was on the highway 635 which caused the car to suddenly lose speed and despite every effort I put into getting it to move putting my life and that of other road users at risk. The car would revv jerk forward and then decline in speed. The "Transmission Fault" warning indicators only came on much later. This led me to conduct research and discover that a lot of other drivers have had the same issue with the same car model. I took it to TownEast Ford and they confirmed the transmission was slipping. I have since taken it to two independent repair companies who ran diagnostic tests on it and confirmed that the transmission was completely faulty. A general search on google has shown to me that this is a very common issue with the 2016 Ford Escape costing users an unbelievable amount of money in repair costs.

Out of the blue on highway. Tachometer reved up to 6 without using throttle. No power, then it jumped out of gear to neutral down a hill. I almost got hit by a truck , no dash lights came on till I called fot help and my husband drove to a safe area and ford escape reared up in air . Then transmission default light came on . A guy put transmission module in to it and it didn't work. So this is not right if it was recalled and now it is doing the issue later

This wasn’t an accident. Over Christmas weekend, my vehicle’s transmission would no longer shift gears correctly. After being told I was looking at thousands of dollars to repair, I decided to sell it. When I listed it on AutoTrader, I discovered a recall from 2022 FOR EXACTLY THE PART OF MY TRANSMISSION THAT MIGHT BE BROKEN. If Ford was supposed to notify me of this in 2022, they certainly did not. So now here I am with a vehicle that doesn’t move.
I am the original owner of this vehicle. I bought it brand new in 2016 and had all service done by Ford Dealership. I was told to have transmission flushed and serviced at 80,000 miles which I did. I was never advised to have anything done to the transmission before 80,000 miles. On 12/06/2023 with absolutely zero lights on the dash I went to put the car in reverse and it didn’t move. I had the car towed with 121,000 miles to a transmission shop where it cost $5,121.79 to have the transmission REBUILT! Again never had a check engine, service transmission not a single light or anything on the dash. I know nothing will get done but I have driven cars reach 200,000 miles with zero transmission problems. I see this is clearly a common problem with Fords across the board but it would have been nice to have been told by Ford to service the transmission every 30,000 miles as I have now been advised by the mechanic who rebuilt my transmission. Just disappointing this is my first Ford and I love this car it’s just really disappointing to have no indication that the transmission needed service BEFORE it shit the bed!
When driving the car at interstate speeds the transmission overheats after just a few minutes. When this happens it triggers the car’s information system to send a message stating “Transmission Fault Service Engine Now.” Just a moment or two later it sends another message stating “Speeds Reduced To Lower Engine Temperature.” Once that message is received you no longer have any throttle control and speed will continue to decline, speed dropped from 70 mph to 30 is maybe an minute, until you pull over and let the transmission cool down. This is especially hazardous on the interstate if your in faster moving traffic with cars behind you and you can no longer accelerate with no way to signal this to the traffic behind you except the four ways. The problem seems to be the fan to cool the transmission never gets the signal to turn on and cool down the transmission. This is an ongoing issue with this vehicle and has been since I got it, there are also multiple site and forums full of this same year make and model having the same issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the rear wheels failed to roll and were dragging. Additionally, there was an abnormal popping sound heard. On November 14th, 2023, a red alert appeared on the dash that indicated an engine temperature warning indicating that there was a high temperature warning and that I should find a safe place to pull over and immediately stop the vehicle. The temperature indicator on the dash showed the needle move instantly into the red/high area and then drop down. This happened twice, back-to-back. I checked the coolant and it was below the minimum level indicator as shown on the reservoir. A day later, the service engine light illuminated. I took the vehicle to Advanced Auto and asked to pull the service code and was told there were two, P0303 and P0304 which indicated a cylinder three misfire and cylinder four misfire. I noted that the coolant was also low once again despite seeing no fluid on the ground after allowing the vehicle to run. Bill Collins Ford inspected the misfires and coolant and found the issue to be related to a flaw in the engine design which allows coolant to leak into the cylinders. I was told this could have allowed the vehicle to overheat and catch on fire as well as causing the engine to lock up while in operation. Bill Collins Ford provided an estimate of $13,000 to repair the vehicle stating it required a new engine. I purchased this vehicle used from CarMax on August 2, 2023 and have put less than 3,000 miles on it before experiencing this issue.

The transmission went out suddenly while driving. My safety was at risk since it suddenly went out while the vehicle was in motion on a typically busy road. I had to pull over with my hazards on hoping no one would hit me.The car was taken to a local dealer where they determined there were metal shavings in the transmission and it needed to be replaced. A warning came up on the screen but when it came up it was determined that the cause was not need to fix immediately and did not relate to the transmission.

Randomly on10/26/23 my car started shaking while in the drive mode at a stop light. When I took off from the light the car stalled. This continued to happen all the way to my job. When I realized it would not shake when it was in neutral at a stop I would just do that. The stalls would continue. Next after one of the shake a wrench light came on saying "Engine Fault service now" I got to my destination. At lunch I went to take my car to Bobby and Erick at W.B Motors in Fairfax VA for a diagnostic thinking maybe a coil issue. I also noticed the wrench light was gone. No further lights ever came on. The evaluation from the shop was: "No codes or pending codes stored in the engine or transmission. The misfire counter shows zero misfires. Found engine idles very rough in gear. The actual slip RPMS under transmission data is less than 500 while desired is around 1000rpms. We believe the torque converter clutch may be sticking" They referred me to High Tech Transmissions. I called and spoke to a Gary before driving there. They could not get me in. Gary spoke to Bobby about the issue. I got back on the phone with Gary. He explained that I would have to leave the car. My only car had to get home. Here is where my complaint is. Gary said that he had 4 other ESCAPES IN his SHOP with the SAME issue. Being a female I didn't get into did he figure those out. I was so upset about mine. BUT 4 others. So I dropped it off at a ford dealer near my home for further diagnostic. That manager told me he has an ESCAPE with the same issue. I am guessing this isn't just an isolated problem. I will know more today on the exact issue. I feel this should be looked into. Was just confirmed I need a torque converter , valve body and solenoid.
When travelling on a surface roadway, we received a transmission failure warning. We were able to get to a safe area at reduced speed. I feel that if this had happened while on a freeway, our lives could have been jeopardized. The Ford tech said that the transmission needed to be replaced. The torque converter failed. The transmission has been replaced. I don't know where the failed component is now
My vehicle has 57 thousand miles bought it at Ford Dealership with 48k miles and already having transmission issues. Tow truck driver who picked my vehicle up claimed “Every Ford escape i pick up for a tow is always a transmission issue” Horrible car, Waste of money.

I was driving home in 2016 Ford Escape and I noticed the RPM's getting higher and higher, but car's speed was actually declining. All maintenance work has been done at Maxwell d in Austin TX. Never had any problems with the transmission and no warning lights, nothing. Until this day....Transmission fault, Service Soon. I was close to being home, so somehow I made it. Be then, everybody wanted know what was going on so did i. I called the dealership, talked to Andrew and made arrangements for car to be towed to Ford on Tuesday, October 3rd. They finally looked at it the car on Monday the 9th....new transmission and labor, almost $8,000. I can not afford that. Having it towed to another repair shop. Getting an estimate from second shop. Why is this not a recall. It should be. Call me [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

At about 57,200 miles, the NHTSA Safety Recall 22S43 - North America Non-FSA Multi Vehicle Line Shifter Cable Bushing was performed by Wright Ford of Redmond, OR. This recall was to prevent detachment of the shifter control line from the transmission. On July 17, 2023 at about 58,900 miles, the shift control line detached from the transmission. Thus, the exact scenario the recall was intended to prevent/fix, occurred about 1,600 miles after the work was completed by Wright Ford. The shift control line was then repaired by [XXX] Auto Repair of Baker City, OR. He said the shifter had become completely disconnected but that the parts were still intact and he was able to reconnect. He could see no reason for this disconnect to have occurred. This suggests that (1) the recall fix did not work, or (2) the recall fix work was done incorrectly by the local Ford dealer, or (3) the replacement parts from Ford were defective. There were no initial warnings other than while driving at about 25 mph we were unable to shift from S to D mode. Once we came to a full stop and turned off the engine, the shifter was moved to P. However, it would not then move to any other position. Attempts to start the engine gave a warning that the vehicle was not in Park. The brake-shift interlock reset, hidden under the shift bezel, was used to release the shifter and move it to the N position for towing 25 miles to a repair shop. The repair shop successfully reconnected the shift line at the transmission and thereafter the vehicle was able to be driven. My 2016 Ford Escape was in park and when I tried to put it in drive it went backwards almost into the car behind me. Luckily they saw something happening and backed up or I would of hit them. It wouldn't shift into gear. I put it in sport mode to get it to move forward then moved it into a safe location and shut it off. It was a hot day so I thought maybe it was overheating. It started fine and went about a mile before shuddering and refusing to shift into gear. I managed to get it home but the Transmission Fault Service Now light came on as I was pulling into the driveway. Had it towed to the dealership and was told it wasn't the recall bushing that went but a part inside my transmission and it would be $8200 for a new transmission. What if I had been on the highway when this happened? This is a serious safety issue which could of caused a crash and injury.

As I was driving going approximately 35 mph, the transmission suddenly disengaged and I nearly got in a serious car accident which could have resulted in serious injuries. My vehicle has only approximately 80,000 miles on it. I called several dealerships and was told by multiple Ford dealerships that it is likely transmission failure and specifically torque converter failure. All the dealerships say this shouldn't be happening and they are fixing many of these, but this is ultimately Ford's problem and there is nothing that they can do. I had vehicle towed to one dealership that I trust and they confirmed the diagnosis and suggested I call Ford because "I have seen many of these unfortunately and it shouldn't be happing with your mileage". Other mechanics and transmission specialists confirmed the same thing, that it is a known Ford Escape defect. Multiple identical cases exist on NHTSA and internet. This is a widespread and known manufacturing defect issue. Other similar Ford years and models were recalled for the same transmission failure. The 2016 Ford Escape hasn't yet for some reason. I called Ford who said there is nothing they can do because there is no recall.
Shot up to 5k RPM several seconds after I let off the gas pedal, then dropped down to 1k, then fluttered between 2k and 3k for a few seconds. I managed to get onto the first side road on and completely lost any power in drive or reverse for several minutes. It finally shifted super hard into reverse, I got turned around, shifted hard into drive, got to a stop sign, hit the gas, nothing for a few seconds until it jerked really hard and shot forward. Diagnosed at local Toyota dealership with supporting documentation as my partner works for them. Scheduled to be taken to and diagnosed again at the Toyota dealerships partner Ford Dealership in April and hopefully repaired, however I have owned the vehicle less than 8 months and between both dealerships have spoken to 3 people who know of or have worked on 4-6 of the same model with the same exact issue.

While driving transmission started to wind. Then the warning light came on and car stopped . Had car towed to local Ford dealer . This happened on 1/25/2023. I finally got a call on 2/04/2023. They said I need to replace the transmission, they quoted the cost at $6,400 .
Severe engine noise, sounds like the engine might fail at anytime. We were worried that the engine would fail and leave us stranded, we live in a cold climate and were afraid to leave town in the car. The problem was confirmed by the dealer - a manufacturer defective flexplate NHTSA ID#: 10174407. There were no warning lamps.
Vehicle would drop out of gear while driving or at a complete stop. I would press on the accelerator to go; however, the car would be unable to move forward. I would have to put the vehicle in park, turn off the ignition, and then restart the vehicle at which point, the car may move for about a mile before dropping out of gear again. This would be a continuous process until I could get the vehicle somewhere safe. The vehicle has stopped moving forward while driving on the highway, which causes a safety hazard for every drive on the road. Researching the problem, there are multiple people complaining of the vehicle having transmission problems and Ford has not done a recall knowing that a vehicle that is not in motion on the highway can be life threatening to many others. The vehicle was take to a Ford service facility and their comment has been "we know it is an issue but your transmission is bad and you need a new one."
2016 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE WAS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THE DEFECTIVE PART WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND FEELS THE BILL IS A LITTLE EXCESSIVE.
My 2016 Ford Escape was included in a recall for a bushing related to the functioning of the transmission. While at home the car stopped shifting and wouldn’t move. The car was towed to the nearest Ford dealership and it was confirmed that the problem was with the recalled part. It was repaired but not even 90 days later the same thing happened only this time while driving through the mountains to my job site. It was towed again to the same dealership who is now telling us we need a new transmission. This is all very coincidental since we have had no trouble whatsoever with the transmission until this point. This vehicle is not safe to drive and we contend that it is likely due to the related recall.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. In July of 2022, the contact received a safety recall notification from the NHTSA under Campaign Number: 22V413 stating "the bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach." The owner then received another letter in October 2022 stating that remedy parts were available in which the owner took the vehicle to the local Ford dealership to have it repaired on November 17, 2022. At approximately 5:30am on December 28, 2022 the contact owner was heading to work. When the light turned green at a major intersection, the contact owner's stated the vehicle hesitated accelerating at low speeds despite being in gear (D). Fortunately, the owner pulled over at a shopping center parking lot and had the vehicle towed to the local Ford dealership. At the time of failure, no warning lights or messages were illuminated or displayed from the dashboard. Later that morning, the owner's son reproduced the issue and documented it on video. When the owner's son put the car into reverse (R) the car moved forward and when put into drive (D). The opposite occurred along with hearing a grinding (increased RPMs) and a popping noise when finally in gear. The failure mileage on the vehicle was 135,373 miles. The local Ford dealership confirmed the transmission pump had failed and would cost $1,600 out of the owner's pocket to tear down the transmission despite the owner purchasing an 3rd party extended warranty service from the local Ford dealership.

Transmition stopped working while driving. Metal parts found and fluid burnt.
On December 20, 2022, I was driving down a highway exit ramp when my car just stopped accelerating. I managed to exit but the car abruptly and without warning slowed to a crawl. I stepped on the accelerator but the car slowed and then suddenly lurched forward. At the time, traffic was extremely heavy and I could not pull over. It continued to violently lurch forward. Then for the first time the transmission light came on. I managed to park my car and call AAA. My car was towed to the Ford dealership where it was purchased for service. After diagnostic testing, the dealership informed me that the transmission seriously malfunctioned and it would cost $6,400 to repair. It would also take twelve weeks for them to get the parts to fix the car. The car only has approximately 109,000 miles and I drive it short distances 3 to 4 times a week. I did not receive a single advanced warning about my transmission until it failed.

Our 2016 Ford Escape transmission failed at 121,000 miles with no warning. There was no slipping or leaking fluid. The transmission was serviced at 100,000 miles. When the transmission failed the engine started to jump in rpm's with the speed dropping till the car wouldn't go anywhere. When it was placed in park the transmission warning light came on. I had the car towed to a transmission repair facility where I was told that I needed a new transmission that something went internally and was plugging the filter. I looked at the forum for 2016 Ford Escapes and see this is a common problem. Shouldn't this be a recall? It's not safe to just to have this go all at once on the highway.

It had a recal on transmission bushing. We never had problems till they did th recall while driving we felt like a chain type thing snap pulled in to Walmart and had no gears. So we had it towed to Varney Ford they did a diagnostic and never got paper work ex ept that everything was good example, tires oil etc and said it was the transmission. They wanted 7 grand to fix it we had it towed to a garage in Canaan. I called Ford 4 times they said it was not under warranty and could not help. They also said tow it to a Ford place that would have been the 3rd. place towed. There was never any information light to check motor no signs and symptoms of any trouble. When I called Darlings they said I Have to take it to a Ford Garage before they would even know if they could help. I do not know how they diagnosed it if it was through a plug in or trans oil check etc.2 Tows and no help lucky no one got hurt or dead. Since all people are having problems why are they not fixing their problem? It only has 113 thousands miles and is well taken care of. I have talk to a few Ford Garages that said I should have had a light or signs which We had zero. Then one asked did we check the transmission oil. Shifter slipped as I was shifting into drive, felt loose and not "set". I was able to drive, but when I parked, the shifter locked into Park . It became apparent that car was actually stuck in Neutral, even though display showed park. I was able to drive into a parking lot and stop safely. Had car towed to mechanic, who confirmed there is a recall on my car for this issue related to bushings with these symptoms. Found recall notice in mailbox the very next day, which confirmed that Ford was not able to repair my car until an anticipated date of 4th quarter 2022. Mechanic was able to procure parts for repair at cost of $794.05. Instructions on recall notice direct me to file a complaint if I believed that Ford was not able to repair car in reasonable amount of time. Car was undriveable until repair was made, I am requesting to be reimbursed for the repair.
This is an additional incident in reference to Case ID 11472499 reported 7/6 about Manufacturer Recall Number 22S43, NHTSA Recall Number#22V413. On 6/22/22, BEFORE the recall was announced, my car was in Park, began to rolled backwards in front of my home, hitting my mailbox, and ending up in a utility pole in my neighbors yard. I discovered the recall while waiting for my car to be picked up and towed to a local body shop. I contacted my insurance agency, the tow was canceled, and rescheduled to be picked up and taken to local Ford Dealership for diagnostic tear down. Many delays later, my car was finally there, and within hours, the service manager called and advised that he was unable to duplicate the accident, nothing was wrong with my transmission. Note: NOT the reason my car was there. I asked him if he had at least checked out the shifter bushing. He answered they did not yet have the part, he would call when it was available, and I could bring the car back. He then proceeded to inform my insurance company that diagnostic tear down was inapplicable because my car was not included in the referenced recall. Fast forward to 8/18/22 (TODAY)... returned my rental, having to pay $1500 out of pocket, above insurance allowance. Pick my car up at the body shop (not a ford dealership, so not authorized to do anything other than collision repair), driving for 5 minutes and ABS, Traction control and System check message shows on dash. Message reads "Hill assist not available". Thankfully, I was able to get home. All lights blinked on and off the entire drive home. Once in my driveway, shifted to park, but it was not showing in the "P" position. It is now sitting useless, as no matter what gear you put the shifter in, it will not move. I am without a vehicle, without a rental, and no help from Ford. I would like reimbursement for all monies paid, and something to drive until affected parts are available.

2016 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS MADE RELATED TO NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 22V-413.
I pulled into a walkway access and a passenger got out and closed the door. I shifted the gear shift to reverse and backed up so I could proceed to my left and shifted the gear shift to Drive but, the vehicle went backward. Sitting there with my foot on the brake I turned the key off. I was unable to put it in Park until pushing it to a better position and removing power to the fuse box rather than searching for the fuse that got it. While in Park the reverse lights were on, so I was not able to start; I had it towed to a mechanic because it was stuck in reverse. The next day I learned the mechanic was unable to get information from the modules and it needed to be transported to the local dealership. I have now missed 2 nights of work and the Dealership estimates the 23rd for completion but is not providing a rental nor loner; so poor manufacturing on good faith purchase is complaint here. Additional info - I did hear clicking on the interstate from forward in the vehicle and a brake light bulb went out between receiving the safety notice and the breakdown. I'm not sure I recall the rear video for backing was on or off. I recall an incident last winter while sliding on ice and a semi was in a slide toward me that with the wheels locked in breaking it died when shifting to reverse; it's safer if it does shift because cars can spin on ice into oncoming traffic and I've kept the oncoming traffic lane free before.

While operating the vehicle, the transmission shifter failed to appropriately shift into the intended gear position, which caused the car to not drive when the gear was in “drive” the car would not move forward when pushing on the gas pedal which left us in an extremely dangerous predicament. The intended function of the transmission was completely unreliable. When shifting the transmission to or from the “Park” position, the transmission was unpredictable and did not sufficiently and safely put the car in the park position or in the intended position and significantly increased the risk of injury or crash. The car was inoperable because the transmission was no longer functioning properly or safely enough to drive and we had no other choice but to have the car towed and the repair fixed in order to have a safe functioning vehicle. Because of the safety recall for the same issue, we are requesting a full refund totaling $3,500.09 for the repaired issue.

We have maintained this vehicle per manufacturer instructions including flushing the transmission system. While on vacation 2 states away a transmission fault light came on. There were no indications like hard shifting or the transmission slipping. It Said to hit the OK button so we did. Then the indicator went away. It came right back on and then the engine fault light came on. The car shuddered and then the transmission quit. I have never had a car do this before. This is an expensive fix for a car that has been properly maintained and had only 111,000 miles on it.

Cranked car to leave, left running to run back in my home for a forgotten item. As I’m walking toward my home, my car started rolling backwards. I ran try and stop it as it was only moving 1-2mph. Hit my mailbox and started veering right towards a light pole and utility box in neighbors yard. I was able to get to it after falling twice, got the door open, but by that time, it was too close to the pole. I let go to avoid injury and the driver side door hit dead center of the light pole. The car is not drivable now. The door was smashed forward, hinges were busted, and door was flat against left front fender.

This vehicle has less than 45K miles on it. It's begun to jerk shift between 2 and 3 gears. There is a transmission recall with no remedy as yet, but it is more related to parking issues. Problem was reproduced at Superior Brookdale Ford, they performed an adaptive relearn but it was doing the same thing on the way home. I've read from others with the same model that it could cease functioning altogether and that could lead to an accident. No warning messages appear, and it is available for inspection upon request.

Coming home from a 300 mile trip vehicle would not go into the highest gear (6th) on the highway. Next day, while coming into driveway the wheels locked up. The vehicle would not go into gear. Engine would spin but like it was in neutral. Called tow truck and the vehicle had to be dragged onto the tow truck with front wheels locked. Dealership informed me that I needed new transmission. $6000 repair. Also the engine light was on and the dealer told me it was a was a turbo wastegate solenoid not related to the transmission.
We bought a 2016 Ford Escape on 25 June 2021, from Phil Long Ford in Motor City, Colorado Springs, CO. for approx. $21,000. Mileage was 62,783k. In Aug and Sept 2021, we brought the car back to Phil Long and told them there was a transmission issue that intermittently occurred on highway speeds. When passing there was an extremely rough shift that felt like a car ran into the back of us. This created a safety issue when driving. Phil Long reluctantly test drove the car and said they couldn’t do anything as they didn’t experience the extremely rough shift. This rough shift continued to happen about once every couple of weeks. We brought the car to Transmission Clinic in CO Springs and they confirmed that we needed a new transmission. On 02 June 2022, we paid $4,992 and got the transmission replaced. Transmission Clinic stated they are seeing many issues with Ford transmissions on Ford cars with low mileage. I contend that Phil Long Ford knew this info and should have been willing to help us in Aug/ Sept 2021. I am requesting that Phil Long Ford reimburse us in full or part for the cost of this recent transmission replacement. I believe Ford Motor Company should issue a recall for these poor transmissions.
Kept saying it was over heating shutting down the motor chugging not gaining speed. Had all spark plugs and coil packs changed ran for 5 days and started dining it all over again.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving up a hill at 40 MPH, the vehicle shook and then stalled with the transmission fault warning message displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where it was serviced for a defective fuel pump which was covered under warranty. Recently, the contact stated that while driving on the highway at 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull off to the side of the roadway. The contact called a friend who assisted her and she was able to drive the vehicle home driving 25 MPH. The dealer was notified of the failure where and the contact was provided an appointment to have the vehicle serviced. The vehicle remained with the dealer for approximately two weeks and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

While driving the 2016 Ford Escape, the torque converter failed and sent all sorts of metal parts into the transmission casing. At 102,000 miles, the vehicle suddenly, and without warning, lost momentum on the highway and I had to coast into a parking lot. The engine was running but the transmission would not engage so the vehicle could not move. The problem was confirmed by the dealer who repaired the transmission and torque converter for $4200.00. The loss of power on the highway in rush hour traffic caused a severe safety situation which I was able to avoid by coasting over to the right lane and fortunately into a parking lot. The check engine light appeared briefly than went out. This seems to be a serious manufacturer's defect that could certainly lead to catastrophic crashes. Thank you.
The transmission is shot at only 130,000 miles on a car with regular maintenance. The repair will be over $4000 to replace the transmission as it is not repairable. This is now a common problem with the 2016 ford escapes.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power, decelerated, and then stalled. The contact indicated that the vehicle would no longer drive forward or in reverse however, the engine was still running. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,150.

Transmission failed while in motion; car slipped into reverse while at a light. Had to pull off and have car towed. It is now undrivable. Transmission must be replaced.
Driving down the interstate and all of a sudden rims shot all the way up and loss power to the vehicle. As If it slipped into neutral. Made it over to the side of the road. Turned vehicle off amd back on and it worked fine for about 100 feet. Made it to a empty park and ride where I'm currently awaiting a tow service. Now in any gear while vehicle is on there appears to be a whine coming from the top of the transmissions bell housing. Car will not move now. Seems as though the transmission went out on it. Looked around online and it appears to be very common with this specific ford vehicle. One website even mentioned a class action lawsuit about it but didn't give specifics.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE
While operating vehicle, it suddenly made a noise, almost like a bang. Then engine then revved to 8000 rpm. Immediately following that I could no longer advance forward while pressing the gas pedal. I had to get to the side of the road as best I could. I was in a dangerous situation. Once at the side of the road, the vehicle would not advance forward or backward. There were no warning lights illuminated on the console. I looked under the hood and did not see anything leaking or out of the ordinary. My vehicle had to be towed. I towed it to my usual mechanic who evaluated it and said the transmission was no longer functional and needs to be replaced or rebuilt. He checked the transmission fluid and stated it was at the appropriate level and the appropriate color/clarity. He checked for recalls and stated there were none, but saw there were many other complaints of this same issue.
I had no warning signs nor lights on dashboard; pulled to a stop and went to leave and put it in drive and heard a major clunking noise inwhich I thought I hit a rock, the car would not go in any of the gears. If I had been driving while the transmission went out or dropped I could have caused an accident or even worse killed someone or myself. The car is being towed to dealership now. I just spent $1100 replacing arms and outer tie rods ends yesterday at the dealership. I am extremely upset and I know there are over 350 complaints about the 2016 Ford escape transmission problems!
The Ford Escape has been a problem since I bought it the tranny went out at 110,000 and the head gasket blew at 140,000 still paying on the car with major problems
I was heading home when my vehicle stopped accelerating or kicking into gear. Fortunately, I was in the neighborhood when this happened, but there were no warning lights when the incident occurred. If this had happened on the interstate, I am sure I would not have been able to safely maneuver the car to the side of the road. I had to completely stop and restart my car for it to kick into gear again. I cannot go more than a quarter mile without it failing. It only has 113,000 miles on it, and the first fluid change was not required until 150,000 miles. I've been told by a mechanic that the entire transmission needs to be replaced. I have been waiting since January 1, and the part is STILL on back-order.
Was with my children leaving a parking lot. Merged onto a busy highway and while trying to accelerate, the car wouldn’t move and RPM’s revved up. Cars were approaching the back of my car very quickly and we were almost rear ended at a high speed. I was able to pull off to the side and call for a tow truck. My very well maintained, 2016 Ford Escape had a transmission failure requiring a replacement with no warning! No warning lights illuminated and the car was not acting up before the failure.
Transmission failure transmission just quit pulling motor accelerated but transmission was like it was in neutral then started making a winning noise had to have vehicle towed home can’t drive it to have it checked calling Ford motor company tomorrow but according to other complaints about this issue probably not going to do anything about it unless somebody makes them recall it sure glad my wife wasn’t on the interstate could have caused a terrible accident so many complaints on the vehicles vehicle did give transmission fault but then went off

While driving the vehicle suddenly deccelerated. Pressing the gas peddle did nothing. It acted as if it was in neutral. Transmission fault light illuminated. This blocked all traffic as there was no shoulder and no time or place to get off the road. It was an extremely dangerous situation on the curve of a road. Vehicle was towed to dealer. Dealer verified abundant metal particles in transmission and recommended replacement ($6,247.69). Regular maintenance was done and mileage is only 61,537 so only recently out of the 60,000 mile warranty. There was never a warning or symptoms. Light came on later during the incident.
Car suddenly would not shift and engine revved without moving in the middle of driving. This is an extreme hazard as my 2 year old son and I were pulling out into traffic. Had to turn the car off and back on and was able to get off the road. The transmission died without warning and the car is only at 55k miles.
I had driven my vehicle normally until one day I put the car into Park and it continued to roll forward. The shifter was stuck in park and would not move, but my dash indicated the vehicle was in Nuetral. The cable between the shifter and the transmission was damaged. Prior to this the sun roof has stopped working and my backup camera started malfunctioning as well. This is after I had to get the fuel injector replaced and the turbo replaced before that.
"transmission fault - repair now" light came on. Engine went to high RPM but very little forward movement. Was able to limp short distance back to home. Transmission then would not shift into reverse. Had car towed to dealer on 8/24/2021 for repair. Dealer indicated total transmission failure had occurred and would need to be completely replaced. Cost quoted at $5500.00. Transmission is a sealed unit with no way to check fluids and is recommended for service at 150000 miles. This car is at 90000 miles, way before the 150000 service call. There was no forewarning or symptoms of complete failure prior to incident.
A few months ago, out of nowhere and with no warning my 2016 Ford Escape flashed a transmission failure and car immediately started having acceleration issues. I was on a 8 lane highway (4 lanes each direction), in the far left lane as I was approaching my left hand turn lane. I had to pull over on this 8 lane highway on the far left lane causing a major safety hazard, not only for myself, but for all the cars in the south bound direction. Once traffic had a break, I started my car back up and was able to make the next left hand turn (which was actually the turn lane I needed to take) to get off an extremely 8 lane highway. This left hand turn also could have caused a safety issue as I wasn't able to accelerate at a normal rate and had to coast across this highway going around 5mph. I immediately pulled over after that turn and got the car towed to the nearest Ford dealership. The tow truck driver wished I had pulled over a little further up since he would have to stop traffic to get the car on the tow bed, obviously something I couldn't do since I was unable to accelerate. When the car was turned back on no transmission warning was on. Ford did replace the battery and confirmed multiple internal transmission component failures with the diagnosis and the transmission would have to be replaced. I did get a second opinion and they also confirmed the failures that the Ford dealership told me. The car is only 5 years old, gave me no indication that there was anything wrong until it happened, there was zero warning, zero noise, zero reasoning given as how/why a car only 5 years old would have multiple internal failing transmission components! I was also told by the mechanic that this is not an uncommon occurrence for Fords to have early transmission failures and that my 2016 Ford Escape was the 6th Ford that month!!! In total, I have had to pay over $6,100 worth of work/service/equipment in a 2016 car I purchased on 2/25/19! Official explanation would be great!!!
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle abruptly came to a sudden stop. The contact indicated that the incident occurred without warning and nearly caused a collision while driving on a busy freeway. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Mileage: 100,000
TRANSMISSION FAILURE warning came up on dash. I saw the RPMs go up to over 120. I had no previous problems with the car before this incident. CAR RAPIDLY LOST ACCELERATION while driving 60MPH on State Road 80 in Labelle FL. Since the car lost acceleration so fast the car behind me had to pass quickly as to not hit me. Other cars behind had to continually pass until I could move from the left lane to the right, and then to the shoulder to safely pull off the road. I had to wait there with the car for over an hour before AAA came to tow it. Mechanic at AAMCO Transmission Total Care in Bonita Springs, FL identified a burned drum. He showed me grooves in it that should not have been there, it should have been smooth. Computer scan gave codes P0219 Engine Overspeed Condition, P0729 Incorrect Gear Ratio 6th, P07AA Trans Friction Element E. I have the drum and other parts that had to be replaced. The repair took 6 weeks as the torque converter was on backorder from FORD. This repair was $4047.00
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE ABRUPTLY SWITCHED INTO REVERSE AT 75 MPH I ALMOST LOST CONTROL. I LET THE CAR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BUT WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD GOING ON REVERSE CAR SHIFTER WOULD GO INTO PARK BUT DASH SAID IT WAS IN REVERSE AND WANTED TO GO IN REVERSE, I CUT OFF THE IGNITION BUT COULD NOT START BACK DUE TO IT BEING IN REVERSE AND NOT ABLE TO GO INTO PARK , FORD SHOWS A RECALL ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE IN 2014 FOR THE SAME ISSUE.
Mileage: 86,000
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE CAR SHUCK AND THE TRANSMISSION MADE A WHINNING SOUND AND THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD;NT SHIFT.I BARELY MADE IT HOME..PARKED IT IN GARAGE AND NOW LOOKING FOR ANSWERS TO WHAT HAPPENED. THE TRANSMISSION COST FROM $1500.00 TO $4000.00
Mileage: 161,000
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 70,000 MILES, WILL NOT GO IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, ALL OF A SUDDEN
Mileage: 70,605
DRIVING HOME FROM TOWN AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. NO WARNING OF ANY KIND. JUST DRIVING THROUGH TOWN AND IT QUIT MOVING AND WAS LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL.
Mileage: 98,800
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, ESCAPE LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR STAY ABOVE 1000 RPM. PULLED OFF ROAD, TURNED VEHICLE OFF, AND RESTARTED VEHICLE, TRIED TO DRIVE IT, HEARD A "CLUNK" NOISE AND SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. VEHICLE COULD MOVE AND CHANGE GEARS, BUT NOT ACCELERATE TO DRIVE, TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR A MORE THOROUGH DIAGNOSIS AND POSSIBLE REPAIR. VEHICLE HAD 104,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT.
Mileage: 104,000
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I NOTICED I WASN'T ACCELERATING; AS I TRIED TO PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SPEED UP. I PULLED OFF THE TO A SIDE ROAD, STOPPED THE CAR, PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND HAD NO CHANGE IN ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON. AS I THEN TRIED TO GET THE CAR BACK HOME (THANKFULLY I WASN'T FAR) I HAD TO PUT IT IN LOW GEAR AND COULD ONLY GO 10-15 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE LIGHT CAME UP AT THIS POINT. AFTER TRYING TO LET THE VEHICLE COOL DOWN, THERE WAS NO CHANGE. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP; COSTING $4,100; THE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC COULDN'T TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT WENT WRONG OTHER THAN IT HAD OVERHEATED IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THERE WAS A LOT OF INTERNAL DAMAGE. I AM STILL STRUGGLING WITH ISSUES WITH ACCELERATING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD. THE VEHICLE IS SLUGGISH AND SHIFTS VERY HARD WHEN IT IS COLD. THE MECHANIC IS LOOKING INTO IT AGAIN.
Mileage: 133,000
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE WAS SLIGHTLY OVER 86, 000 MILES. THAT SHOULD NOT BE A THING. WE HAVE ALSO HAD CONSTANT ISSUES WITH THE RADIO/DISPLAY INCLUDING TOTAL FAILURE AND REAR CAMERA NOT SHOWING.
Mileage: 86,000
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN OUT OF NOWHERE I COULDN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE IT WAS ALMOST LIKE I WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL BUT I WAS CLEARLY IN DRIVE. I BEGAN HAVING OTHER DRIVERS HONK AT ME AND TRYING TO PASS ME, I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME, IT WAS REALLY SCARY. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN IN A ACCIDENT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED MY HAZARDS ON, AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE MECHANIC SAID MY TRANSMISSION WAS DONE AND I NEEDED A NEW ONE, HE ALSO SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ESCAPES. I REPAIRED IT IT COST 5600$. THE PART THAT BOTHERED ME MOST WAS WHEN I CONTACTED FORD THEY DIDN'T CARE ONE BIT. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART AND MAKE IT RIGHT AND STAND BEHIND THEIR NAME, BECAUSE I GUARANTEE THEY ARE FULLY AWARE OF THIS HAPPENING AND YET FAIL TO RECALL IT AND FIX IT.
Mileage: 89,000
MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A FAINT WHISTLING / WINDING SOUND WHEN BEING DRIVEN. THEN MY CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE ANY MORE WHILE IT WAS IN THE DRIVE POSITION . THE RPM NEEDLE KEPT JUMPING AS IF IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. I STOPPED , STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVEWAY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED FOR A MIN OR 2 THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, AFTER THAT THE CAR FINALLY SHIFT INTO GEAR, AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK MY CAR. THE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON SAYING TRANMISSIONS FAILURE SERVICE NOW OR SOMETHING TO THAT AFFECT. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO FORD SEEING HOW I WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY, FINALLY AFTER A MONTH , GOT MY CAR BACK. THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION JUST PARTS OF IT FROM WHAT I WAS TOLD -MANS A HOSE FOR MY HEATER. NOW A FEW WEEKS LATER, MY CAR IS MAKING THE SAME NOISE.
TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL REVERSE OR PARK. YET I AM ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. CAR ALSO WILL NOT START BECAUSE OF THIS
Mileage: 112,000
I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN TRIED TO PUT VEHICLE BACK IN GEAR. GEARSHIFT WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED AND VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY IN NEUTRAL I HAD TO PUT EMERGENCY BRAKE ON TO PREVENT VEHICLE FROM ROLLING AND HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO HAVE BUSHING JOINING TRANSMISSION TO SHIFTER CABLE REPLACED. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN COVERED UNDER PREVIOUS RECALL FOR 2014 ESCAPES AND VERY OBVIOUSLY IS STILL A PROBLEM.
Mileage: 180,000
VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WHEN IT STARTED HESITATING AND RPMS REVVING UP AND DOWN CHAOTICALLY. NO CHECK ENGINE OR SERVICE LIGHTS WERE ON. VEHICLE TOWED HOME, AND DRIVEN TO DEALERSHIP NEXT DAY. SAME PROBLEM STARTED HAPPENING WHEN THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR A WEEK AND SAID THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS COMING APART INSIDE THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF 5400 FOR A REMAN OR 3400 OVERHAUL. VEHICLE AT 75K MILES. CODES P0219/P0735/P0731. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO AND THEY DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE WHEN NOTIFIED OF THIS FAULT. THE CSR SAID THERE IS NO ONE AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT COULD LET ME KNOW HOW MANY COMPLAINTS THEY HAVE RECEIVED ON THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION, DESPITE EMPLOYING 175,000 PEOPLE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. IT IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD THAT A CAR WITH 75K MILES NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION AND FORD WILL NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE DESPITE BEING PAID 28,000 FOR THE VEHICLE! FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION AND OWN UP TO THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING, AGAIN TRANSMISSION JUST RANDOMLY GOING OUT WITH NO PRIOR ISSUES SHOULD BE A HUGE RED FLAG. FORD DOESN'T EVEN RECOMMEND TRANSMISSION SERVICE ON THIS VEHICLE UNTIL 150K
Mileage: 75,000
OUT OF NOWHERE CAR'S TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING REALLY BAD ON A MAIN STREET INTERSECTION. THE CAR WOULD STALL THEN WOULD CATCH UNEXPECTEDLY AND LAUNCH FORWARD. THEN A MESSAGE CAME ON THE SCREEN OF "TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE ENGINE NOW". HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THIS HAPPEN WITH A 4 YR OLD CAR!!!!!
Mileage: 73,000
MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE HAD A TOTAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, APPROX. GOING 45 TO 50 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT OF GEAR AND LOST POWER. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD STALL AND THEN SUDDENLY GO INTO GEAR WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING MY ESCAPE TO JERK FORWARD. I PARKED MY ESCAPE AND HAD IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS "BURNED UP" AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAD A REBUILT TRANSMISSION IN MY ESCAPE, COSTING ME $3,700 IN REPAIRS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK THE RPMS REVVED UP. THE TRANSMISSION FAULT WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT, PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,400.*DT*JB

HERE I SIT WITH A 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH LESS THAN 72,000 MILES GETTING IT'S TRANSMISSION REBUILD!!! AFTER SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL YET?? THIS IS VERY SORRY ON FORDS END. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS TRANSMISSION. IT GAVE ME VERY LITTLE WARNING. MADE A NOISE, LESS THAN HALF A MILE JUMPED TO 5,000 RPMS THEN THAT WAS IT... DEAD ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS TO GET PARTS FOR THIS TRANSMISSION #1 DUE TO THE AGE #2 DUE TO THE VIRUS. FIX THIS ISSUE FORD!!!!
Mileage: 71,400
WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD AND JERKS IN TRAFFIC AND LOSSES POWER. NO TO LITTLE MOVEMENT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. ALSO YOU CAN NOT ACCELERATE THAT IS A NON FACTOR AND YOU ARE IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT WARNING! MY CAR NEVER GAVE ME ANY SIGNS OF A BAD TRANSMISSION UNTIL OUT THE BLUE ONE DAY AND A TRANSMISSION VAULT LIGHT CAME ON MY DASH! MY FAMILY AND I WAS VISITING MY SON AT HIS COLLEGE TOWN OF BEVERCREEK OHIO WERE HE ATTENDED WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY AND THIS HAPPENED ON THE WEEKEND. I WAITED UNTIL THE WEEKDAY TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FORD GAVE ME A CASE #CAS27510020. MY SON DROPPED IT OFF AND MADE THE APPOINTMENT AND RENTED A CAR AND DROVE BACK TO CHICAGO. THE CAR IS AT GERMAINE FORD AND THEY CALLED HIM BACK AND SAID $4 THOUSAND OVERHAUL OR $8 THOUSAND FOR REPLACEMENT AND I STILL OWE A YEAR OR 2 YEARS WORTH OF PAYMENTS TOTALLY UNFAIR. A CAR SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 85,000 MILES OFF HIGHWAY AND NORMAL DRIVING! P.S FORD HAS BEEN SUED FOR THERE POWER SHIFT TRANSMISSION FOR BAD TORQUE CONVERTERS , WHO'S TO SAY THEY ARE NOT USING THOSE SAME TORQUE CONVETERS IN THEIR 6SPEED AUTOMATIC SELECT SHIFT TRANSMISSIONS.
Mileage: 85,000
2016 FORD ESCAPE WITH LESS THAN 80 THOUSAND MILES WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE RANDOMLY ONE DAY. ENGINE WOULD REV. DEALERSHIP STATED THERE WAS METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION PAN AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY COULDN'T TELL ME THE CAUSE AND THAT IT WOULD COST 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS. FORD DOES NOT RECOMMEND TRANSMISSION SERVICE UNTIL 150 THOUSAND MILES AND THEIR WARRANTY EXPIRES AT 60 THOUSAND MILES BECAUSE THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE A CAR PAYMENT AND NO CAR. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THEIR SHOTTY PRODUCT.
Mileage: 78,000
TRANSMISSION FAILED WITH NO WARNING. DRIVING HOME ONE DAY, GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR HAD A DELAY IN ACCELERATING AND WOULD THEN SUDDENLY LURCH FORWARD. TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME WITH THE CAR, EVENTUALLY A "TRANSMISSION FAULT" MESSAGE CAME UP. NOW CAR IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY, ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND I CAN'T USE IT TO WORK OR ANYTHING, WE BARELY GOT HOME. I'VE READ THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WHO AND WHAT IS BEING DONE TO RESOLVE OR TO MANDATE A RECALL?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SIGNATURE FORD ' PERRY DEALER LOCATED AT 3942 LANSING RD, PERRY, MI 48872, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE REBUILT TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER (CAPITAL FORD, RALEIGH NC). IT TOOK OVER TWO WEEKS FOR THEM TO LOOK AT MY CAR. THEY THEN CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THE "TORQUE CONVERTER HAD COME APART" AND THAT I NEEDED A FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT FOR $7500. MY CAR IS FOUR YEARS OLD AND BARELY OUTSIDE OF THE POWERTRAIN MILEAGE WARRANTY. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD.
Mileage: 64,000
THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN AUGUST 2019. WE REPLACED IT WITH A FORD TRANSMISSION AND NOW (JULY 2020) IT NEEDS REPAIR AGAIN. THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS 5136077
VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR AFTER PARKING IN PARKING SPACE. COMPLETE LOSS OF ABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN GEAR IT WAS LAST IN (PARK). BUSHING ON SHIFT CABLE WAS MISSING AND SHIFT CABLE WAS DETACHED AS HAS OCCURRED IN PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS

SHIFT CABLE BUSHING CAME OFF SHIFTER CABLE. GEAR SHIFT MOVES BUT DOES NOT ENGAGE IN ANY GEAR NOR DOES THE DASH SHIFT INDICATOR SHOW IT IS IN ANY GEAR. TRUCK STARTS, ENGINE REVS AND ALL BREAKS AND LIGHTS ARE WORKING. IT WAS FINE YESTERDAY WHEN I PARKED IT IN MY SLOPED DRIVEWAY. TODAY IT WILL NOT ENGAGE IN ORDER TO DRIVE.

WHILE TRAVELING AWAY FROM HOME, THE SPEED CHANGED FROM 40 MPH TO 55 MPH. WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER WAITING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR THREE HOURS, MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE WITH 69,123 MILES, WAS TOWED BACK TO MY HOMETOWN TO A TRUSTED MECHANIC. AFTER LOOKING OVER THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TRANSFERRED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED. A COUPLE DAYS LATER, THE TECH CALLED AND STATED THE TRANSMISSION DID IN FACT NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $7505.00. THE GM OF THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST, AS 'FORD HAS NO ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSIONS.' THE GM FURTHER STATED I COULD ROLL OVER WHAT I OWED AND DRIVE OFF IN A BRAND NEW ESCAPE FOR $500.00 A MONTH. AFTER RESEARCH, IT'S CLEAR THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE DEFECTIVE, COSTING MANY PEOPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR. MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO OUR TRUSTED MECHANIC WHERE IT WILL BE REPAIRED FOR $3500.00.
Mileage: 69,123
FROM THE SECOND WEEK OF OWNERSHIP, MY VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I WAS VERY PUNCTUAL ABOUT GETTING MY VEHICLE SERVICED AS I PURCHASED A SERVICE MAINTENANCE PLAN AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND BELIEVED MY TRANSMISSION WAS BEING LOOKED AT DURING THE SERVICE CALLS. I PRESUMED IT WAS MY IMAGINATION HOWEVER AT 121,000 MY VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FROM THE SPEED OF 45MPH. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THAT TIME. THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT CLEARLY WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY AS IT WAS NOT MOVING WHEN ACCELERATING. THERE WAS NO 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DID ENGAGE INTO GEAR AND MOVED FOR ANOTHER TWO MILES THEN I GOT THE RED WARNING MESSAGE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW". BECAUSE I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE(A 2016 MODEL) I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD THE REPAIR HENCE MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE OCTOBER 2019 WHEN IT BROKE DOWN. I SAW A RECALL FOR THE FORD FESTIVA/FUSION THAT DESCRIBED THE SAME SITUATION BUT HAVE NOT SEEN ANY INFORMATION ON A RECALL FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. I HAVE ALSO SEEN COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND FEEL THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. NORMALLY I DRIVE THE FREEWAY BUT THE MORNING IT BROKE DOWN I WAS ON A SURFACE STREET. I FOR SURE WOULD HAVE HAD A BAD ACCIDENT IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. I DO NOT HAVE ANY REPAIR DOCUMENTATION AS I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE AND MAKE PAYMENTS ON IT TOO!
Mileage: 121,000
DROVE THE CAR 90 MILES TO THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS OR NO SIGNS THAT ANYTHING WAS GOING WRONG. AFTER THE HOSPITAL VISIT WAS OVER, AND WE STARTED TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL, THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING FORWARD WHILE STILL ACCELERATING. THE ENGINE FAULT FAILURE WARNING APPEARED ALONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT. I STOPPED THE CAR. SHUT IF OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. THE CAR PROCEEDED TO MOVE FORWARD BUT THEN QUICKLY LOST THE DRIVING POWER AGAIN. IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD ON ACCELERATION. WHEN PLACING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR TO MOVE IT WOULD MAKE A CLUNKING NOISE LIKE IT WAS HAVING ISSUES PULLING INTO GEAR. WE ENDED UP STRANDED AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT IN THE HEAVY INTERSECTION OUTSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL. NO.ACCIDENTS HAPPENED. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID IT AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD GARAGE.

JUST AS MY CAR REACHED 61,699 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS. ON MARCH 29, I WAS DRIVING ON RIDGE RD IN OAK RIDGE, NJ AND STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR GOING UP A VERY SLIGHT HILL TO MAINTAIN MY SPEED OF 40 MPH, BUT THE CAR JUST STARTED SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT STARTED ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL AND I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY STEP ON THE BRAKE. THE DIRECTION I WAS GOING IN WAS ON A SINGLE LANE ROAD AND THERE WERE CARS COMING BEHIND ME.THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE OR MOVE. THE ENGINE WAS REVVING BUT NO MOVEMENT. IN FACT, THE CAR STARTED TO GO BACKWARDS INTO THE OTHER CARS BEHIND ME. I IMMEDIATELY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING ANYONE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD. SOMEONE CAME OUT OF THEIR HOME TO HELP ME BACK MY CAR INTO HIS DRIVEWAY WHILE I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. MY CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP AT FETTE FORD IN CLIFTON, NJ. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN HELP ME WITH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BEING THAT I WAS ONLY 1,699 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. IS IT NORMAL FOR A TRANSMISSION TO GO BAD IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE WARRANTY? I AM AN ESSENTIAL WORKER. ALSO, MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP ON 3/2/20 BEFORE THIS HAPPENED FOR WHAT THEY CALL THE WORKS WHERE THEY CHECK ' TIRE ROTATION AND PRESSURE CHECK ' BRAKE INSPECTION ' VEHICLE CHECKUP ' FLUID TOP-OFF ' BATTERY TEST ' FILTER CHECK ' BELTS AND HOSES CHECK AFTER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MILES. THEY DID NOT PROPERLY SEAL THE OIL PLUG BECAUSE OIL WAS LEAKING OUT OF MY CAR AFTER I LEFT THEM AND I HADN'T NOTICED UNTIL MY HUSBAND TOLD ME. I WOULD THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CATCH ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS VERY BUSY THE DAY I WENT IN FOR THE WORKS AND IT TOOK HOURS TO GET THAT DONE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND AND DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO FOUND TWO UNKNOWN CODES AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.

MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE TORQUE CONVERTER IN MY TRANSMISSION EXPLODED AT 85,000 MILES. AAMCO TOLD ME ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PART. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND TRAVELLING AROUND 30 MPH. COST $5400.00 TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE METAL SHAVINGS WENT BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION. VERY DANGEROUS!
Mileage: 85,000
SLOWED AT FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT ON HIGHWAY, WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER LIGHT, TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A LONG TRIP. SLIPPAGE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY, THEN FREQUENTLY AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED. SLIPPAGE OCCURRED WHENEVER CAR WAS SLOWED AND TRANSMISSION ATTEMPTED TO DOWNSHIFT AND THEN ACCELERATE AFTERWARD. VERY DANGEROUS AT INTERSECTIONS, ESPECIALLY WHEN TAKING LEFT HAND TURNS IN TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD AND SLIGHTLY OVER 60K MILE WARRANTEE LIMIT. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $6500.
Mileage: 63,500
WHILE DRIVING, WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS....NO ENGINE LIGHTS, THE VEHICLE JERKED THEN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T MOVE, ONLY ENGINE WOULD REV UP. VEHICLE STALLED ONE TIME AND AFTER STARTING BACK UP IT WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE BUT NO MORE THAN 20-40MPH. HAD TO KEEP PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING TO GET VEHICLE TO KEEP MOVING TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE. WARNING MESSAGE FINALLY CAME UP TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW. HAD NO PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES OR MESSAGES. THIS ALL HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY.

MY CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET. AUTONATION FORD CLAIMED THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WHICH LED TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THEY WANTED $7K TO REPAIR. I TOOK IT ELSEWHERE FOR REPAIR AND WITHIN 1 WEEK AFTER REPAIR THE CAR ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING. I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE BUT HAD JUST EXITED TO A NEARBY RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS MELTED. THE CAR IS TOTALED AND HAS BEEN TURNED OVER TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY, ALLSTATE.

MY 2016 FORD ESCAPE BROKE DOWN ON THE MORNING OF FRIDAY, JANUARY 24TH. NO WARNING, NO PRIOR ISSUES OCCURRED. IT WAS A COMPLETE SHOCK. THE WARNING LIGHT, 'TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW,' CAME ON ONLY WHEN THE CAR BROKE DOWN. NOT ONLY WAS IT SCARY, BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. AS A RESULT, WE HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE ANDERSON FORD DEALERSHIP (ANDERSON, SC) WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR'S WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. MY CAR HAS 62.5K MILES. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS OF NO HELP. EVEN CONTACTING THE FORD CORPORATION BROUGHT VERY LITTLE IF ANY RELIEF. THERE'S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THIS IS A FAULTY PART. I'VE NOT SEEN A RECALL, BUT I HAVE NOTICED MANY SIMILAR ISSUES HAVE BEEN POSTED. PLEASE HELP!

I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE NORMAL UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE. IT CURRENTLY HAS 87,000 MILES ON IT, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVVING WHEN I WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE GAS, TO NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL WHEN I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS A GASKET THAT FAILED AND CAUSED A TRANSMISSION LEAK. AND THANKS TO THE DESIGN TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I CAN CHECK MYSELF.
Mileage: 87,000
I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON TIME WITH EVERY SINGLE NORMAL UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE RELIABLE AFTER I HAD MY DAUGHTER. IT CURRENTLY HAS 86,850 MILES ON IT, AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THANKFULLY ON BACK ROADS, I FELT THE CAR SHUDDER WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE GEARS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE ENGINE WOULD ALTERNATE BETWEEN REVVING WHEN I WAS BARELY TOUCHING THE GAS, TO NOT GOING ANYWHERE AT ALL WHEN I HAD THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. MY MECHANIC TRIED A FLUSH, WHICH HAD IT WORKING LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, WHERE IT COMPLETELY QUIT ACCELERATING AFTER I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. THIS CAR IS IN IMPECCABLE SHAPE OTHERWISE, HAS LESS THAN 90K MILES ON IT, AND IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON IT SHOULD BE NEEDING A COMPLETELY NEW TRANSMISSION.

FAILURE OF THE SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE. CAR WILL NOT GO INTO PARK OR REVERSE. VEHICLE WAS AT A HOSPITAL PARKING LOT AND MY WIFE THOUGHT IT WAS IN PARK REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION, EXITED VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO THE PARKING LOT TRAFFIC. SHE IMMEDIATELY JUMP BACK IN THE CAR AND APPLIED THE FOOT BREAK, PLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON AND TURNED ON FLASHERS.

CAR BEGAN TO SHOW HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING ON HIGHWAY ONRAMP. THE NEXT DAY, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED WHILE AT A DRIVE THROUGH. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE. CAR VIOLENTLY JUMPED AND THEN BEGAN TO CRAWL. WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY MOVE IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET IT HOME. TRANSMISSION AGAIN DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING RPM TO SHOOT UP. WAS ABLE TO PUSH TO PARKING LOT AND GET IT TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SEEN MANY REPORTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME ACTIVITY AND CARE IS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD. MOST OWNERS HAVE JUST PASSED THE 60K MILEAGE MARK THAT THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY COVERS. RIDICULOUS - FORD HAS ALREADY HAD RECALLS FOR OTHER YEAR MODELS OF THE ESCAPE AND FOR OTHER VEHICLES IN THE SAME YEAR FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THE 2016 ESCAPE NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THESE TRANSMISSION RECALLS!
Mileage: 92,000
I BOUGHT IT AROUND AUG 1, 2019 WITH ABOUT 30,000 MI. LESS 2 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, IT STARTED INTERMITTENTLY GOING TO LIMP MODE, WHERE I CAN'T ACCELERATE PAST ~1500 RPMS. RESTARTING THE CAR USUALLY MAKES IT GO BACK TO NORMAL. THOUGH SOMETIMES I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES, WHICH SOMETIMES TRIGGERS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND/OR TURN IT OFF AND WAIT A COUPLE MIN TO MAKE IT GO AWAY. IF I RESTART THE CAR, AND IT IMMEDIATELY GOES BACK TO LIMP MODE, I CAN HEAR/SEE THE RPMS GO ABNORMALLY HIGH FOR SEC THEN GO BACK DOWN. WHEN IN LIMP MODE, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT, AIRBNB WARNING LIGHT, "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" MESSAGE, AND "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" MESSAGE COME ON. IT USUALLY GOES INTO LIMP MODE AT LOW SPEEDS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHEN I'M STOPPING AND SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING, ESPECIALLY ON HILLS. THOUGH IT CAME ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I WAS JUST SLIGHT BRAKING GOING FROM ~ 70 MPH TO 65 MPH, REQUIRING ME TO DANGEROUSLY PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE TOOTHMAN FORD DEALER IN GRAFTON, WV WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AND THEY THE FOUND CODE P2107 ABOUT THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACED. I HAD THAT DONE 2 TIMES WITH 2 DIFFERENT THROTTLE BODIES BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER FOR A 2ND OPINION WHILE IT WAS IN LIMP MODE, AND THEY FOUND A CODE ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY CIRCUITRY/WIRING, BUT THEY CHECKED ALL THE WIRING AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ALSO, ONCE WHEN I DID A COLD START AFTER MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE RAIN ALL DAY, THE CAR WENT STRAIGHT INTO LIMP MODE AS SOON AS I TURNED IT ON.ALSO, ONE TIME IN LIMP MODE I SMELLED GAS BURNING. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP TO DIAGNOSE THE ODOR AND WAS TOLD THE GAS WASN'T GETTING TO ALL THE CYLINDERS. RESTARTING THE CAR TEMPORARILY MADE THE PROBLEMS GO AWAY THESE TIMES TOO.
Mileage: 31,500
I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 YEARS. THE OTHER DAY I WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE MY CAR WOULD MOVE. THE RPM WENT UP BUT NO MOVEMENT. FINALLY IN SLAMMED INTO GEAR SO I COULD MOVE AND PARK. UP UNTIL THIS DAY I HAD NO ISSUES THAT WOULD MAKE ME SUSPECT THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I DEFINITELY NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHEN MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO THE MAN HE ASKED IF IT WAS COMMON IN THAT VEHICLE FOR THE TRANSMISSION NOT TO LAST. THE MAN TOLD HIM YES THAT IT IS A FAULTY DESIGN ON FORDS PART AND THAT THEY ACTUALLY HAVE ANOTHER ONE AT THERE SHOP FOR THE SAME.PROBLEM. I AM BY NO MEANS HARD IN MY VEHICLE AND I DONT FEEL THAT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS SHOULD BE SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN A VEHICLE THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD.

GOT IN MY CAR STARTED IT UP AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. INSTEAD OF GOING FORWARD THE CAR WENT IN REVERSE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SHIFT IS IN PARK THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO PUT THE PARKING BAKE ON TO KEEP FROM ROLLING.
Mileage: 138,240
THE CAR WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE DASH SHOWED NEUTRAL. THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED AND THE CAR TURNED ON AND OFF BUT UNABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO ANY GEAR SUCH AS DRIVE OR REVERSE. USING GOOGLE AND A YOUTUBE VIDEO I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE OVERRIDE FOR THE SHIFTER AND PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND DRIVE THE ONE MILE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED NO REAL ASSISTANCE OR ADVISE ON WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN 'GET THE CAR TO THEM' AND A STATEMENT THAT THE ISSUE SOUNDED 'JUST LIKE A RECALL' - 'BUT THE RECALL IS NOT ON YOUR CAR'. PER THE DEALERSHIP THE SHIFT CABLE BUSHING WAS WORN AND CABLE CAME LOOSE FROM TRANSMISSION. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE EXACT SAME DEFECT AS NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V362000 HOWEVER MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND I WAS CHARGED $258 FOR REPLACEMENT OF A $6.35 PART THAT IS KNOWN TO BE AN ISSUE. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE REVIEWED AND EXPANDED IF ADDITIONAL VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN TO HAVE YOUR SHIFTER AND TRANSMISSION CEASE COMMUNICATION.

AT 84,000 MILES, MY CAR STARTED JERKING AND HESITATING AS IT WAS TRYING TO GO INTO 2ND AND THIRD GEAR...THEN THE REVERSE WOULDN'T WORK AT ALL. THANKFULLY, I WAS ALMOST HOME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AS THE CAR BECAME UNDRIVABLE. I WOULD HIT THE GAS AND IT WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE....I HAVE IT AT A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THIS IS COMMON ISSUE WITH FORD ESCAPES AND THEY ARE SURPRISED THAT FORD HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AT THE COST OF $5,500. I AM NOT COVERED AS THE POWERTRAIN IS ONLY COVERED UP UNTIL 60,000 MILES. I AM SO DISGUSTED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH MONEY. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND THIS IS NOT SOMETHING I CAN AFFORD, BUT I HAVE TO CHOICE BUT TO GO INTO DEBT.

THE CAR JUST QUIT WITHOUT ANY WARNING STOPPED DEAD. LEFT ME STRANDED AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. CAR GOT STUCK IN REVERSE WHEN TRYING TO PUT INTO PARK IN A PARKING LOT. FOUND OUT THE BUSHING ON THE SHIFTER CABLE WENT BAD. WITH FURTHER RESEARCH UP TO 2014'S ARE ALREADY BEING RECALLED. I FOUND THAT YOU CAN ONLY BUY THE FULL CABLE KIT AND NOT JUST THE BUSHING. SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WHICH SEEMS PRETTY DANGEROUS NOT TO BE ABLE TO PUT YOUR CARS INTO DIFFERENT GEARS.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT ONLY 90K MILES FOR A VEHICLE THAT WAS BUILT IN 2016 IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AND WHEN IT DOES IT STRUGGLES TO MOVE UNDER ITS OWN WEIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP WHEN IT JOLTED REALLY HARD. IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME FROM THE BACK. AFTER THAT JOLT THE CAR WAS MAKING SOME GRINDING NOISES. WE BARELY MADE IT TO A PARKING LOT AS THE CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO MOVE IN A BUSY STREET.

CAR BECAME STUCK IN PARK DUE TO A FAILURE OF A RUBBER BUSHING THAT SECURES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS OCCURRED TO WHEN I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY, I STOPPED TO CLOSE THE DRIVEWAY GATE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK, TOW TRUCK FEE, FORD DIAGNOSTIC FEE WAS OVER $300 DOLLARS FOR A $7 DOLLAR RUBBER BUSHING. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO THE POTENTIAL ROLL AWAY IF THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL IN GEAR WHEN BUSHING FAILS.

MY ESCAPE HAS EXACTLY 88,000 MILES IN IT . I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH AND THEN IT DROPPED TO 10MPH JERKING ME HARD. THEN IT REVED UP ON ITS OWN AND STARTED GOING LIKE 60 MPH. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND IT WAS GOING IN REVERSE THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG I CANNOT BELIEVE I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUSED ONE. THE JERKING OF THE CAR WAS SO HARD I WAS AFRAID THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY. MY THREE YEAR OLD FORD IS RECEIVING A NEW TRANSMISSION THAT IS NOT COVERED.

I TOOK IT TO CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND AS ONLY 60,000 MILES IF THAT AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT AND IT WILL COST ME $9,500 TO $6,000 I FIND IT FUNNY THAT THEY CALLED A RECALL ON FOCUS FROM THAT YEAR ON ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION AND NOW MINE IS OUT AND SOME HOW IT IS MY FAULT. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOW THERE WAS ONGING PROBLEM I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY THAT WHY I BOUGHT NEW THOUGHT I WOULD BE GETTING DEPENDABLE CARE FOR ME DRIVE MY CHILD AROUND IN. THIS HAPPEN IN TOLEDO, OHIO WHILE DRIVING I HAD TO HAVE CARE TOWED TO CAR LOT WHERE IS CURRENTLY SITTING BECAUSE I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX SOMETHING THAT FORD KNOWS IT HAS ISSUE WITH. THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. IT HAS DONE THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND SLOWER. CANNOT PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC FOR FEAR OF THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING.
Mileage: 66,252
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OVER GEAR SELECTION. REGARDLESS OF SHIFT LEVEL POSITION, "D" OR "S", GEARS WILL NOT SHIFT ABOVE 1ST GEAR, FORCING SPEED TO DECELERATE TO ONLY ABOUT 10 MPH. PARKING POSITION BECAME INOPERATIVE AS WELL, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD WHILE IN "P". NO ALARMS OR WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED. THE CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO CLIMB AN INCLINE, MEANING THAT EVEN 1ST GEAR IS NOT REALLY ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO A RECALL ISSUED FOR 2013 AND 2014 ESCAPE MODEL YEARS, WHEN THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION DETACHES. WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A DIAGNOSIS FROM THE DEALER.

THEY ARE TELLING ME AT THE JENSEN FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL COST 6,508.00 DUE TO ALL THAT IS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN IT GETS HOT IT LEAKS TRANSMISSION FLUID BADLY. IT TOOK ONLY 2 DAYS AND NO WARNING AND IT BLEW. NOW I CAN'T PAY FOR IT, FORD WILL NOT PAY FOR IT AND I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD.

A RECENT INCIDENT WITH MY VEHICLE, A 2016 FORD ESCAPE SE AWD, HAS LEFT ME UNHAPPY AND DISAPPOINTED IN FORD MOTOR COMPANY. SINCE I STARTED DRIVING IN 1984 I HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT AND OWNED A FORD PRODUCT. I HAVE HAD NO REASON TO QUESTION THE QUALITY OF FORD PRODUCTS UNTIL NOW. THE ESCAPE HAD TO BE TOWED INTO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP, CHAMPION FORD ' EDINBORO, PA. UPON INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED AN INNER SEAL WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. THIS RESULTED IN TRANSMISSION FLUID ENTERING ALL AREAS OF THE TRANSMISSION AN ESSENTIAL RUINING THE UNIT. THE SERVICES MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION WAS REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS DONE WITH THE PURCHASE OF A NEW TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME ON FEBRUARY 27, 2019. MY FIRST DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THE TRANSMISSION OF A 2016 ESCAPE FAILING IN LITTLE OVER THREE YEARS SINCE PURCHASE (OCTOBER 2015). THE SECOND DISAPPOINT WAS THE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. MY ESCAPE HAD A 5-YEAR/60,000-MILE WARRANTY ON THE POWERTRAIN. AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE I HAD DRIVEN MY ESCAPE 72,000 MILES. THEREFORE, I WAS LEFT WITH A $6232.67 REPAIR BILL ON A VEHICLE I HAD HOPE TO LAST ME SEVEN TO TEN YEARS. AT THIS POINT I WILL NEED TO KEEP THIS VEHICLE ANOTHER TWO OR THREE YEARS. WHEN I DO BEGIN LOOKING FOR ANOTHER NEW CAR, I NOW BELIEVE I NEED TO START LOOKING AT OUR MANUFACTURER PRODUCTS. I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD HONOR THEIR PRODUCTS BETTER THAT I HAVE SEEN IN THIS EXPERIENCE. IF THE COMPANY DOES STEP UP AND PROVIDE SOME RE-COMPENSATION FOR MY DIFFICULTIES, I WOULD BE WILLING TO RE-THINK MY LOYALTIES TO THIS BRAND. USED 2016 FORD ESCAPE BOUGHT IN 2016 WITH 85000 WHILE DRIVING JUST STOP MOVING. GEARS WERE MOVING BUT NO MOVEMENT IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER DIAGNOSIS AT THE DEALER IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A TRANSMISSION FAULT. WITH ONLY 85000 MILES AND ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, I DON'T BELIEVE THAT'S NORMAL OR A SEMI NEW VEHICLE, I BELIEVE FORD VEHICLES ARE BEEN BUILT WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS THAT DON'T LAST LONG.

WHEN BOUGHT CAR HEARD HUMMING SOUND AT HIGHER SPEEDS. LOOKED IT UP AND A LOT OF SAME REPORTS ONLINE BUT MIXED CAUSES. BUT NOW THE POWER TRAIN COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE IT BREAKS COMPLETELY. I CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION WITH MY FEET ON THE FLOORBOARD. NOW IT'S REALLY LOUD AND I'VE ONLY HAD IT 5 MONTHS. IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITHOUT FIXING THE CAR ITSELF WILL FAIL. POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I STILL HAVE 13000 PLUS TO PAY ON A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. NOT INCLUDING THE PHENOMENAL COST TO REPLACE. THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. CAN PROVIDE ESTIMATEDS FOR REPAIR. NOT EVEN SURE IT'S WORTH KEEPING. THERE WILL BE A CRAS IF I DON'T FIX IT OR CONTINUE TO DRIVE.

IT WOULDN'T GO OFF AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING ROUGH. WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO OUR FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION MODULE WAS BAD AND THE COST @1K. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND THIS SEEMS TO US TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. WE HAVE HAD 5 OTHER FORD VEHICLES AND DROVE THEM ALL TO 200K MILES WITHOUT HAVING TO REPLACE THIS TRANSMISSION MODULE. WE BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. HAS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART.

SAFETY HAZARD AND SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING SITUATION EXISTS WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ON THE HIGHWAY AND ESPECIALLY IN FRONT OF A SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK DOING THE SPEED LIMIT. NUMEROUS TIMES, (12 TIMES BETWEEN 14,000 AND 15,363 MILES) THE 2016 FORD ESCAPE HAS HAD COMPLETE POWER LOSS DURING ACCELERATION CAUSING VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY BEGIN SHAKING, LOSE POWER, LOSE STEERING, LOSE BRAKING AND IMMEDIATELY SHUDDER TO A STOP. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, MESSAGE READS: ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO) ENGINE REMAINS RUNNING. IF ONE TRIES TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STUMBLE AND WON'T SHIFT FROM LOW GEAR WITHOUT A VERY HARD TORQUING SOUND. THIS FORD ESCAPE BROKE DOWN IN FRONT OF A FORD DEALER AND THE CODE READ BY THIS DEALERS COMPUTER IS P0322-PCM. ACCORDING TO AN INTERNET SEARCH THE P0322 CODE DEFINITION: IF THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) DETECTS AN ERRATIC, INTERRUPTED, OR OTHERWISE UNEXPECTED INPUT SIGNAL FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR OR THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, IT WILL STORE THE P0322 CODE, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL BE TURNED ON. ON THIS VEHICLE THE CODE IS ONLY ACTIVE WHEN THE FAULT OCCURS, AND THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. THE CODES DO NOT STORE IN MEMORY. IGNITION CAN BE SHUT OFF, THE WARNING MESSAGE DISAPPEARS AND MANY TIMES THE CAR IS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AGAIN FOR MILES BEFORE REOCCURRING. THE LEASING DEALER STATES THEY HAVE A PROCESS TO FOLLOW IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR THEY DO NOTHING. USING MY PRINTOUT FROM ANOTHER DEALER WITH THE CODE IS MEANINGLESS TO THEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE CONDITION IS LIFE THREATENING. THEY SAY THAT IF I FEEL THE CONDITION IS LIFE THREATENING THEN DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. A FORMAL CASE HAS BEEN OPENED WITH FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE, HOWEVER THEY ONLY NOTIFY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM, WHICH HE ALREADY KNOWS.

THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF SEYMOUR FORD OF JACKSON , MI, WHO HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL, PERFORMED A REPROGRAM OF THE PCM. ON 8/15/16 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN WITH THE SAME SHUDDERING COMPLAINT. SEYMOUR PHONED THE FORD HOT LINE TO ASCERTAIN IF THERE WERE ANY ADDITIONAL RECALLS. SEYMOUR WAS ADVISED BY FORD TO COMPARE LIKE VEHICLES ON THEIR LOT. THEY TESTED A 2015 AND 2017 ESCAPE "BOTH HAD SAME ISSUE" . I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BE SURE TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND WAIT FOR THE GEAR TO ENGAGE THAN ACCELERATE. I FOUND UNDER COMPLAINTS.COM OTHER OWNERS THROUGHOUT THE US WHO HAVE MADE THE SAME COMPLAINT. ONE HAS EVEN HAD FORD ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. I INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT I UNDERSTAND THEY DID NOT BUILD THE CAR; HOWEVER, IF THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR I WOULD BE BACK. THEY INFORMED ME THEY WERE THERE FOR ME. THAT SAID IT APPEARS EITHER FORD IS NOT TELLING THEIR DEALERS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND OR THEY ARE TELLING THEIR DEALERS TO STONEWALL. EITHER WAY FORD SHOULD AT LEAST MAKE IT KNOWN TO THE DEALERS AND THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION. WE PAID GOOD MONEY FOR THE CAR AND WE ARE RETIRED ON A FIXED INCOME, ALTHOUGH WE ARE UNDER WARRANTY, I DO NOT WANT TO BE CONSTANTLY GOING TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT WITH THE SAME RESULTS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THIS MATTER. *TR
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AT 35 MPH THEN ENGINE DIED, SERVICE ENGINE NOW LIGHT CAME ON, MESSAGE CENTER SAID CONTACT DEALER. RESTARTED AFTER PUT IN PARK. CHECKED FOR CODES WITH GENERIC SCAN TOOL, OBD2 CODE P2112 IN MEMORY. CONTACTED DEALER PURCHASED FROM FOR SERVICE. WE HAVE A NEW 2016 FORD ESCAPE. AFTER ABOUT 1,000 MILES NOTICED A SHUDDERING OF THE TRANSMISSION WHEN SHIFTING. IT HAPPENS WHEN WE SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, PARK TO REVERSE, OR REVERSE TO DRIVE. TOOK TO FORD SERVICE STATION AT ABOUT 3500 MILES AS IT BECAME A REAL CONCERN. TECH COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. CHECKED SOCIAL MEDIA TO SEE IF OTHERS WERE HAVING SAME PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. WE WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE THE ESCAPE BACK TO FORD AS IT APPEARS TO BE A COMPLAINT OF MANY 2016 FORD ESCAPE DRIVERS WITH THESE VEHICLES. THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO BE MADE ACCOUNTABLE AS THEY CONTINUE TO SELL THESE VEHICLES KNOWING THIS PROBLEM EXISTS.
TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING FUNNY AROUND 5 MONTHS AFTER GETTING MY ESCAPE. I WOULD PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD JERK OR NOT GO INTO GEAR A FEW SECONDS. THEN IT STARTED SHUDDERING WHEN I WOULD DRIVE IT. AT FIRST MAYBE A FEW TIMES A DAY. YESTERDAY IT STARTED SHUDDERING AND JERKING ALL DAY. AT ONE POINT I THOUGHT SOMETHING HAD HIT ME OR I HAD HIT SOMETHING AS MY CAR LITERALLY WENT FORWARD AND A LOUD CLUNK WAS HEARD FROM BEHIND. SCARED BOTH ME AND MY PASSENGER AS IT FELT LIKE I HAD HIT SOMETHING. I AM REALLY SCARED TO DRIVE THIS THING BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL START JERKING, SHUDDER, ETC. I HAD AN SE 2013 AND HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE TRANS BUT IT WAS NOT A TITANIUM MODEL, WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID TO PULL OUT OF OUR DRIVE TODAY WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK AS IT IS VERY BUSY AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS GOING TO STALL, SHUDDER, JERK, WHATEVER. FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THEIR ESCAPES AT LEAST THE TITANIUM MODELS. THEY HAVE ALL THE COMPUTER STUFF ON THOSE AND ALTHOUGH MINE IS NOT A TOP OF THE LINE TITANIUM, IT IS STILL A TITANIUM. I CAN'T GET THIS CAR IN UNTIL NEXT MONDAY A FULL WEEK AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP (TAYLOR FORD) SAID HIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS FULL OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. DOESN'T THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING??

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE CAR SHUTTERED AND FLASHED WARNING LIGHTS, THE POWER WAS DECREASED, THEN SHUTTERED AGAIN AFTER I PULLED OVER AND TURNED IT OFF
