Coolant intrusion into the engine potentially causing engine failure. A cracked cylinder head was allowing coolant to leak into one of the 4 cylinders.

Dec 28, 2025

I went to get my spark plugs changed as maintenance on my vehicle. The plugs on both the second and third cylinder were very tight and breaking with residue all over the plugs. The shop I took my car to had to send it to another shop in order to get the plugs put back into the engine. Since then it sounds like a blown muffler whenever I start my car and I have a check engine light with a third cylinder misfire. I have also been having white smoke whenever I start my car with a cool engine. I tried seeing about getting the car fixed but mechanics don’t want to touch my car because they said it will not fix the issue because this is a manufacturer defect caused by coolant intrusion. Now I have to sell my car and. I am under because I still owe 6340.95 on my Loan. The most I can get for it is $3300 through Carvana. The car has less 96,092 miles.

Dec 26, 2025

The engine recall was warrenteed up to 80,000 miles. l bought the vehicle with 75,000 miles. Sure enough l had the defective engine and it blew out at 113,000 miles. l ended up getting a personal loan as the engine was $10,000. I'm upset because Ford can set what ever mileage they want to establish a warranty expiration period. Hope you can help

engine misfire, white smoke, loss of power while driving. Due to Coolant intrusion which could lead to dangerous situations, such as an unexpected stall in traffic or an engine compartment fire. Ford had offered a campaign thro' CSP 21N12 program but for a short time in 2022 which excluded many vehicles for people whose did have issues at that time.

Dec 16, 2025 Crash

he freeway I notified future ford of concord and I was told I would receive a call back but as I recall I didn’t receive a call back. The car started acting as if nothing was wrong about a week or so later then two days ago December 13,2025 first my head lights went out and a message saying there’s a bulb outage or electrical issue appeared and also the hill assist unavailable warning light appeared , following the 911 calling assistance is unavailable as well, and I also noticed my radio is no longer producing sound so I believe the engine ( block , head gasket etc) component also electrical system, sync 3 system has also failed or malfunctioned. During the second occurrence I was driving as I was before which led to The safety of my children, my husband and myself put at risk being it was night time and I could no longer see the road the car acted as if it was turning off and slowing down.. yes there was warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem during the failures, and they first appeared at the exact time of the failures . Also below are photos captured from the ford vehicle app alerting me about issues for the car

Dec 10, 2025

I am reporting a safety-related engine defect on my 2019 Ford Escape (2.0L EcoBoost). On September 23, 2025, at 72,233 miles, the engine failed due to coolant leaking into the combustion chamber (cylinder #3). Ford’s own dealer confirmed coolant intrusion and referenced Ford TSB 22-2239. This issue is associated with known EcoBoost coolant-intrusion failures documented in multiple Ford bulletins and class-action suits. The engine failure required a complete long-block replacement costing $8,644.38. Ford denied assistance despite the failure occurring within the extended 7-year/84,000-mile coverage window under Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12. Coolant intrusion can cause sudden engine failure, stalling, loss of power, or inability to accelerate, creating a hazardous driving condition. I request NHTSA review this defect as part of the widespread EcoBoost coolant-intrusion problem. Owner: [XXX] , [XXX] . VIN: [XXX] . Ford has an issue where the coolant leaks into the cylinder blocks ruining the engine. Also, cause for low coolant which could catch the engine on fire.

Nov 24, 2025

Car operated fine until it suddenly started running rough, then lost power/accelleration while driving down a busy state highway. Ford Dealership found what the service manager called "catastropic engine failure, caused by coolant instrusion." He showed us the whole process of coolant corruption of our Ford Escape's engine -- and the engineering flaw that caused the intrusion. Service manager explained that our 2019 Ford Escape model was "the Problem Child of Ford Motor Company." The loss put our daughter, alone, stranded on the side of a 55 mph 2-lane highway in a car with only 57,000 miles. It put other highway drivers at risk as well. We had no warning that something was wrong with the car. The check engine light came on AT the time of the incident. That is, when the car started feeling rough and wouldn't accellerate, the check engine light came on Car and mechanics who repaired it are all available upon request. Also please see attached repair invoice from Richardson Ford.

COOLANT WATER INTRUSION INTO THE CYLINDER BLOCK. COOLANT INTRUSION DUE TO MANUFACTURE DEFAULT. LONG BLOCK NECESSARY TO COMPLETE REPAIR. REPAIR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. OBD WARNING CODE P303 SUGGESTED CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. COOLANT LEVEL WAS NOTED TO BE LOW. VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP PROMPLY. AFTER DEALER INSPECTION COOLANT WATER INTRUSION WAS FOUND. IF THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT DIAGNOSED EARLY IT COULD'VE CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING.

Nov 6, 2025 Crash

I have Engine coolant intrusion into the the cylinder heads. White smoke during start up and loss of engine coolant. Also is stuttering during start up with check engine lights..

Nov 3, 2025

On returning from vacation, the check engine light came on. Pulled vehicle into auto parts store for a computer diagnosis's, computer said spark plug issue. Took the vehicle next day to my technician for diagnosis's and repair. The mechanic had difficulty removing the Number two(2) spark plug. After using light and scope to examine the interior of the number two(2) cylinder, traces of coolant was found inside to cylinder. The mechanic researched it online and said there was a problem with the 2000 teen model Ford Escapes with a crack in the engine block. I took the car three weeks later to the Ford dealership where the vehicle was purchased from because the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT NOW came on. I was told there was nothing they could do and I was asked to leave. One of the other personnel that worked at the dealership overheard our conversation and stepped in and told his coworker that even though we were over on the recall mileage for this issue we were still inside of the seven year window for the recall. I was given the Ford Customer Service toll free number to report this issue, and was told not to tell anyone where or how I got that number and would you be so nice and leave and take the vehicle with you.

2019 Ford Escape 1.5L EcoBoost. 74,000 miles. Check engine light came on out of nowhere. Had auto shop read the code and it was a misfire of cylinder 3 and needed ignition coil and spark plug replaced. A few days later the message "High Engine Temperature, Stop Safely" came on and the engine temperature shot up to High. Pulled over and let it cool down. Started driving it again and it shot back up to High again. Took the car to a mechanic who did a compression test and said that the coolant ran green which meant the coolant is infiltrating the cylinders. Per another mechanic this is a known problem with 2019 Ford Escapes that the engine is a open deck block that allows the cylinders to move and be unstable. Ford knows this problem but never put a recall out!

Oct 11, 2025

Our BCM stopped working the first sign was both of our head lights randomly would not turn on. This was confirmed by two other mechanics and the ford service center had to replace the entire thing. The second part the fail was part of the engine. Something happened where we were told coolant was in our cylinder number 3 and they want to replace the entire engine with no symptoms other then low coolant levels because they stated it is a risk of fire.

Oct 10, 2025

Took my 2019 Ford Escape in for oil change and tune up. Couple days after tune up check engine light came on (cylinder 3 misfire) and vehicle overheated. Got vehicle back to local repair shop and discovered coolant intrusion in cylinder 3. Overheating of engine left me stranded in traffic, as there was no shoulder, only a guard rail on side of the road. Could have easily been rear ended. Luckily about to minutes later, the police arrived behind me and waited with lights on until tow truck arrived. Engine code P0303. Ford has issued a TSB (22-2322), so they are aware of the problems with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. My Escapehas all the symptoms listed on the TSB and build date is within the manufacture dates shown on the TSB

My 2019 has the coolant intrusion in cylinder 2 issue. The dealership recommended a long block replacement and quoted me $10,850 to do this. It is a safety concern and I was advised not to drive it. The engine could seize if not repaired and put myself and others in danger. The extended warranty I had purchased expired a couple weeks before this happened. I understand there a many people experiencing the same issue and that there are some class action lawsuits regarding this as well. That may take years to resolve and in the end it won’t make us whole though. I’m submitting this to you today hoping this issue will be considered for a recall. Thank you for any help with this matter and could I trouble you to please advise me as to what if anything I can do regarding this matter? Kind Regards, Nancy York

Sep 26, 2025

The vehicle all of a sudden started saying there was a misfire on cylinder 1. So the ca was taken in for a tune up. Coil packs and spark plugs were changed. The vehicle was then losing coolant with no sign of a coolant leak externally. The coolant began leaking into the engine through a weakened gasket caused by the misfire. That should not of happened. The car had been marked as having various repairs prior to purchase at ford dealerships on such parts.

Sep 17, 2025

The engine failed at 51,000 miles due to coolant intrusion. The check engine light came on and a code scan revealed a cylinder 3 misfire. The dealership ran diagnostics and the pressure test, which determined the engine failed.

Sep 17, 2025

My Escape has about 73,000 miles on it and the check engine light went off last week when I started the car. The car itself was shaking in a very strange way. I brought it to a repair shop and they said there was coolant leaking into one of the cylinders. This was going to require a full engine replacement at the cost of about $9,000. They reached out to Ford and there was a pre-existing set of instructions on how to deal with this issue, so it was clear this is known to Ford on this model of car. If it was my vehicle only, I'd say I'd cut my losses and just get a new car, but I've read dozens of stories online about this issue and saw a temporary recall from back in 2022 for this exact problem. There are also many class action lawsuits active that name my make and model and the same coolant issues. I am attempting to escalate this with Ford as the technician said I maybe have two weeks before the engine fails altogether, which is obviously a huge danger to me and my family. Hoping Ford can be forced to do the right thing and issue a recall. I am in a tough spot where my family has a single car and either need to pay the large repair bill or pay-off an equivalent sized loan in order to trade in this car (with these known issues) for a new vehicle in the next few days.

Sep 15, 2025

The engine continually misfires, forcing me to continually get it fixed. Now, with only 68,000 miles I have to replace the head gasket ($4000), which my mechanic states is an extremely common problem with this make, model, and year. I also continually get notices to my Ford app about “fault detected—service engine soon” (for the misfire) and “a power train or AWD fault has been detected”.

The coolent leaks into the engine causing engine failure. From research this is a common problem with the ecoboost turbo. Poor design, its like having a lawnmower engine and making it turbo. It needs to be recalled. I can provide estimates from Temecula Ford Dealership.

The flex plate is cracked. Possible missing dowels.

Sep 5, 2025

According to my local ford dealership, the rattling/clicking sound in my engine is due to a faulty water pump which is apparently a known problem for a 2019 ford escape. I did not even have a check engine light appear and just happened to have my vehicle there for a different reason. This is an extensive and costly fix that should not be an issue with a 6 year old vehicle with 77k miles. With this being a common/known fault for EcoSport engines, it affects the safety of my engine and all passengers and other drivers.

Aug 29, 2025

My 2019 Ford Escape 2.0 Titanium has a KNOWN coolant intrusion issue where it is leaking into the engine. This began as my car shook on startup, then the check engine light would come on. Drove it a little ways, check engine turned off. Took my car into the repair shop and they looked up the stored code and it was P0301 cylinder #1 misfire detected and P0316 misfire detected on start up first 1,000 revolutions. Car seemed ok, so took it back. Happened again, 2x, check engine light on, off, then on again when I brought it back in. Same codes again. Mechanic said coolant low, removed cylinder #1 spark plug and sent camera into cylinder, found coolant leaking into cylinder. They said I need an entirely new engine, as this has been occurring a LOT with these EcoBoost vehicles. Ford had an open recall but only acknowledged a small amount of vehicles, mine not one of them, and there is currently a lawsuit against Ford because this has been happening to so many people. We are getting nowhere with Ford, they won't acknowledge the issue on the EcoBoost and now we have to come up with nearly $10k to replace an entire engine when the car isn't even worth $8k. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS! Some people are having this issue at 50K Miles!!! This is not ok!!

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the contact received a power train malfunction notification through the Mobile App. The vehicle was able to restart but failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to start but was started after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to Loganville Ford (3460 US-78, Loganville, GA 30052); where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam seals, the crankshaft sensor and harness, and the timing components needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the engine was previously replaced in 2021, and the fuel pump was replaced in 2023 due to the stalling failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 98,117.

The Ford dealer just advised that I need an entire new engine at a cost of $10,000 for a crack in the block, causing coolant to leak into cylinder three, potentially causing critical failure and danger while driving the vehicle. This is a known defect in this motor, which the manufacturer/Ford refuses to address.

Aug 23, 2025

at 96800 upon start up there was a cloud of white smoke and a check engine light. It was taken to the local ford dealer for diagnosis. Code was P303 and P316 indicating a misfire. the car was found to have coolant intrusion in cylinder 3 and would need a long block replacement. reference used was TSB 22-2229. This type of engine failure is know to ford due to design of coolant channels between cylinders. This could have cause sudden engine failure while drive resulting in an accident and injury or engine fire due to insufficient cooling causing loss of property and/or injury.

Aug 21, 2025

The vehicle is suffering from an engine failure. It has a check engine light DTC PO303 with a heavy misfire. This causes to engine to lose power at times preventing proper acceleration which could lead to an accident. Ford has a technical service bulletin [TSB 22-2229 ] that describes the failure and the required repair. The problem is a design issue, but Ford is not covering any out of warranty repairs.

Aug 19, 2025

Leaked coolant into second cylinder caused engine failure. This is a known issue with this model. No prior warnings, check engine light came on as the engine lost power. Risk of total engine failure.

Coolant in cylinder causing overheating, misfiring of cylinder 3 and cracked engine block

Aug 11, 2025

Replaced engine blowing a lot of smoke out of the exhaust when starting engine and it didn't do that before the new remanufacured engine was installed.

Aug 11, 2025

Coolant is leaking and causing the cylinders to misfire. The check engine light is illuminated. This problem has been confirmed by the service department at my local Ford dealership. The repair is to replace the short block with an updated part and estimated cost is $5000-6000. My 2019 Ford Escape has only 79,000 miles on it and has been well-maintained. This leakage will definitely put myself and others at risk when my vehicle breaks down. The check engine light appeared on Thursday, July 31st. I brought the car immediately to the dealership. Since I did not have a scheduled appointment, they did a quick diagnostic and reset to see if it would happen again. The check engine light came back on the next day. I brought it in for a service appointment today after returning from being out of town last week.

There's currently a coolant intrusion issue with my 2019 Ford escape and I see that there was a recall on this for all Ford escapes from the years of 2017 through 2019 and I wanted to see if this will be covered for repairs

coolent intrusion int the motor - no notice given regarding a previous recall

Jul 30, 2025

White smoke coming out of exhaust smelled of antifreeze. Took to Ford dealer in Eagle River, Wisconsin: Dealer found coolant in #1 cylinder and wrote on receipt - headgasket block failure, recommend replacing engine. Service writer said this is due to a defect in engine block being a slit machined in block between cylinders by Ford. Dealer quote for engine replacement was $9500.

The vehicle's engine shutdown while driving on the highway, forcing me to pull to shoulder in traffic. We had it towed to Ford and were advised that the engine was blown due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. We're told the engine is totaled and they quoted us almost $15,000 USD for the repairs. There is a know recall notice for this exact issue, however we were told it only covers up 85,000 miles and our vehicle has 94,000 miles. We had brought it to a Ford dealership for an oil change 6 months prior and they didn't say anything about it. The dealership/manufacturer refuses any accountability, and offered us $1,500 loyalty discount if we purchased a new Ford vehicle from them. The SUV was in like new condition prior the engine failure (ie. no damage).

Jul 24, 2025

the night prior to my car breaking down I Did notice the car began to lose horsepower to move just a little bit not to much to worry about than the check engine light did appear on dash that night. Code popped up for misfire in cylinder 1. SO changed the spark plugs and light went off , next day light was on and smoke began coming out of the tailpipe.

Coolant intrusion issue caused by a defect from Ford. They are refusing to fix the issue.

Jul 21, 2025

My Ford Escape was driving as usual, but as I was traveling on a down ramp in a left turning lane, the engine overheated abruptly and serious audible and visual alerts appeared on the screen. I was in heavy traffic and was forced to pull over quickly into the right turning lane. This could have easily caused an accident because all of a sudden, the Escape started stalling and would hardly move. It was terrifying, and I was barely able to maneuver it into a nearby parking lot. That night, it was towed to a Ford dealership that inspected it and now says that I need a new engine because the engine block is cracked.

Jul 21, 2025

Car has been experiencing the misfire in cylinder four. This is a known cause in the 1.5 L escapes. This is a 2.0 but it has the same issues not fair that they fixed 1.5 L and not the 2.0 causes a misfire due to coolant leaking into the cylinder burning coolant and then causing the motor to overheat. When that happens, you can be going on the highway and have an abrupt warning that causes the vehicle to drop to 20 mph without notice causing extreme safety concerns for just not the driver but anyone around especially on highways.

Jul 19, 2025

After turning the car on, the car started to shake for a couple minutes, the engine light came on after a few minutes of the car doing that. Took it to get it scanned and the code given was P0302 and P0304. Took the car to a ford dealership and after almost a week it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the cylinders and needed it a new engine. Since the coolant was leaking it also damaged the power steering system due to rust and an electronic power steering gear was also needed since it was giving intermittent failure and was very hard to turn the car. Ford is not owning anything and it is clearly an engine poor design by ford. It is happening to thousands of owner that have that engine.

Jul 16, 2025

My engine had a coolant leak a few years ago (2021) and needed a complete engine replacement since the car would no longer run. Since it was under warranty then it was replaced. However, the engine once again has had a major issue with the engine bearing and needs another full replacement and will no longer run. Many people are struggling with needing to get full engine replacements on Ford Escapes. There are Ford retailers keeping stocks of Ford Escape engines in preparation for these engine replacements, but Ford has refused to offer any assistance for this known issue. Requiring a 2nd full engine replacement at the value of the car itself is absurd. I received a warning message on my car, but when I took it in to have the issue assessed - it was notified as a minor gas cap issue.

Jul 16, 2025

Consumers claim the engines in their Ford vehicles overheat due to an internal coolant / antifreeze leak that allows coolant to enter into the cylinders of the engine. In many cases, the defect is alleged to have caused total engine failure and to require replacement of the engine block.

Jul 16, 2025

The car had a rough idle (only for the first few minutes) for one day before the engine light came on. The car was taken to the dealership on the third day (less than 20mi of driving between the light coming on and the car being inspected). According to their scans, my 2.0L engine is experiencing water (coolant) intrusion into the clyinders (after only 5 years of service). The Ford technician said it is TSB 22-2229 (a known issue since 2019 TSB 19-2172). There are currently no NHTSA Customer Satisfaction Programs or recalls for this TSB, which is astonishing, as there is one for the 1.5L engine made in the same plant AND Ford completely redesigned the engine because they know it is so bad. The fix is to completely replace the engine ($10,000-$15,000). The danger is that the manufacturer knew there was risk of water intrusion, which can crack the block…this could leave the vehicle in a dangerous situation if driving at highway speeds or in heavy traffic.

Jul 2, 2025

The number 2 cylinder is cracked allowing coolant to leak into the combustion side of the engine. my dealer is asking for $15,000 to replace the engine.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Escape. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and occupied, while attempting to start the vehicle, the contact noticed a cloud of white smoke coming from the exhaust. The check engine warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was coolant leaking into the cylinders, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N12: (GTDI Engine – Short Block Replacement After Coolant Intrusion); however, the VIN was not included in program. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the program and opened a case. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 56,000.

The coolant kept getting low. I brought it to the Ford dealership I bought it less than a year ago. They ran some tests and said the coolant is leaking and the engine needs to be replaced. I'm waiting for them to hear back from Ford to see if it's under the extended warranty.

Jul 1, 2025

Last year my vehicle has a recall for the Ecoboost. Ford in Boonville, IN. replaced engine. I am again having a foggy windshield, sweet smell, dizziness, and I can taste the coolant. I sent email to Ford motor company but haven't received a response yet. I left a message for the service department at dealership as well. I'm waiting for someone to get back to me. It's my understanding that if the same problem returns or is related to the recall it will have to be fixed.

Jul 1, 2025

The failed component is the coolant leaking into cyl 4 TSB 22-2229 which has been a problem with this model in the 1.5 L turbo before. This model is the 2.0L turbo but having the same problem. According to the dealership, "This is the entire process need to either rebuild or replace the vehicle's engine. This is a process needed when the vehicle's engine is in need of serious repair." Reasoning according to the dealer: "Without replacing or rebuilding a damaged engine, the car will not be able to function and will be left useless." This car has only 46,391 miles on it for 2019 and has been meticulously taken care of since it's purchase in Aug 2021 as a used vehicle from the dealership. After an oil change was completed on the vehicle at 46,300 miles, the check engine light came on and the vehicle was taken into the dealership for it to be assessed. That's when it was found to be cyl 4 that was the problem.

Jul 1, 2025

On or about June 1, 2025, the vehicle began losing coolant without a visible leak. Took the vehicle to dealer for a diagnosis. Dealer claimed than a coolant hose was bad and required an $1100 repair. I reported to the dealer the low coolant, water in the oil and white smoke at start up but they dismissed the complaint. Stated they would need the $1100 repair done before any other diagnosis could completed. July 1, 2025, after consulting Ford corporate directly, they are "looking" into my concern. No offer of repairs, at all.

Presence of coolant in the engine cylinders, Ford has it as a known issue but won't issue a full recall. Causing cylinder misfires. Needs new engine. Ford design flaw!

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the contact heard a rumbling sound coming from the engine, causing the vehicle to shake abnormally. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that an independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with engine failure, and that the cam shaft was damaged. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The engine on my 2019 Ford Escape failed due to coolant intrusion — the same issue previously addressed by Ford recall #19S22. The recall repair was completed by a certified Ford dealership in 2022. Within days of making the final payment on the vehicle, the engine failed completely and became inoperable. It had to be towed to a Ford dealership for inspection. Before the failure, the same symptom I experienced prior to the original recall occurred again: white smoke coming from the exhaust, indicating coolant was leaking into the engine. There were no warning lights or dashboard messages. When my car did not turn on, I thought it was possibly the battery so I bought a new one and changed it. When that did not work I went ahead and had it towed to get a full diagnostic. The diagnosing Ford dealership confirmed the engine suffered catastrophic failure due to coolant intrusion — the exact defect previously addressed under the recall. Ford acknowledged the diagnosis but declined to fully cover the cost of repair, stating the recall work was “out of warranty.” They initially offered $3,976.18, and when I didn’t accept, this was increased to $5,301.58 — still leaving me with nearly $8,000 in out-of-pocket costs before tax for a full engine replacement. The affected component (engine) was inspected and confirmed by the Ford dealership and is still available for inspection. This failure occurred in the first week of April, and I have been without a working vehicle since. The recurrence of this issue — even after the recall repair was completed — raises serious concerns about long-term safety, durability, and accountability associated with this vehicle.

Coolant is leaking into #4 cylinder causing misfire. This will lead to a blown engine. It is a known issue with Ford but there isn’t a recall as of today. TSB 22-2229 has been released. I spent a lot of money with the plan this car would be safe and reliable for 10+ yrs and well over 100k miles. I am afraid to drive it but have no choice as I work to support my three children and myself. I have owned five Ford vehicles in 40 yrs and have felt loyal to the co. The co needs to be loyal to its customers and fix the issue in my Escape and all others that this disaster is effecting. Thank you. Feel free to contact me.

During the month of January my vehicle started to overheat. I pulled over immediately and opened the hood. The coolant was bubbling over and I let it cool down. Once it cooled down I checked the level and noticed it was low. Which was weird since there had not been a leak. I filled it up and went on my way to work. I had my mechanic look at it and there was coolant in the engine. He stated take it to Ford ASAP. Which I did. I had it towed to the ford dealer and was told they would assess it and give me quote for repairs. After a week they cam back with it needs a new engine and the quoted repair was $7800. This car has 80K on it and was purchased from a ford dealer with 33K and was serviced regularly. Zero reason to need an engine unless it was a manufacturing defect. I start to look into recalls and low and behold there is a recall for the same issue from 2017-2019 of April. My car was produced in June I believe. I call Ford Motors and start a claim. After 30 days we finally come to an agreement. I pay $3200.00 and they pay the balance which was helpful considering I was still making payments. Finally get my car back the end of April.

My car quit running properly so I took it to the local O’Reillys and they did a scan. The scan showed a misfire on cylinder 2, a known issue. I took it to a local auto mechanic who said I had a cracked head and needed a new engine. They guided me to the Ford dealership who also confirmed that the engine head was cracked, but noted that the engine needed replaced due to another known issue with these engines, but didn’t say what that other known issue is. The car is barely running, and it clearly falls in line with the other vehicle VIN’s that were recalled due to the known coolant leakage problem that is causing the heads to crack and the engines that need to be replaced. Ford is refusing to include my vehicle. This situation could have been much worse as I drive a major hiway to work and I could have broken down along the way leaving my safety in Jeopardy with a sudden engine malfunction. I could have been hit by a car, or had would be car jacker attack while I would have waited for help. Or if for some reason this issue would have caused my car to catch fire with my child in it. Car is sitting at Ford Dealer and can be inspected at any time.

Engine has failed and in need of full replacement at 123k miles. Vehicle was manf’d in 2019. While driving the vehicle, it can experience a complete loss of power and extremely poor acceleration resulting in a major safety issue on higher speed roads, causing the driver to be unable to avoid potential safety risks that may present. The dealer and manufacturer are both aware of the defect, but failed to issue a recall. The issue is a known design flaw with the engine, which allows coolant intrusion into the 2bd cylinder.

Apr 27, 2025

It was diagnosed by a ford dealer that it has a coolant intrusion. It’s available for an inspection as well! Car has been well taken care of with regular oil changes and regular maintenance. I had a coworker in my car as the car overheated 2 times 2 hours away from home on a work day. In rush hour traffic on a 4 lane interstate. And I had to get off on an exit ramp. Almost caused an accident. Took it to a dealer the next day and they confirmed that the car needs a new engine as the engine is faulty. The car only has 79k miles. We’ve put 24k miles on it in 3 years. As it’s a daily driver and been a great car for us… up until now. The car now misfires idling. And it doesn’t run well. And an inconvenience as I have to fill it with coolant everyday to make it 5 miles to work. Ford was contacted by the service department and I, while I was at the ford certified dealership. They said that because the car is out of factory warranty. Mind you under 80k miles. Was nothing they would help with. Even though, they recognize that they made faulty engines for this car between the beginning of 2019 to mid June of 2019. But never wanted to do a recall. As there was 241,388 ford escapes made that year. They accounted for about half of those being faulty. There was no warnings for this problem. One day I took off to meet clients of mine in a town almost 2 hours away. It overheated 2 times on the way home. Took it into the ford certified dealership the next day to find out it needs an engine. I wasn’t not a happy camper as I never experienced any prior problems or warnings. Never an engine light. No spikes in engine temperatures. Just one day it overheated 2 times on the way home. Because the engine started to eat away coolant and never a warning.

On April 30th had an oil change performed on my vehicle at the Ford service center on Tuesday. Shortly after, I began experiencing issues with the car struggling to start. By Thursday, my check engine light came on, I took it back in, left it at Ford, they were going to look at it on May 6th did not hear back until May 7th, revealed coolant mixing with the engine oil, indicating an internal engine issue. I had my car towed to Expert Transmission, and they revealed. Upon further inspection, the following diagnostic trouble codes were stored in the ECM: P0217 – Engine Overheating P0302 – Cylinder 2 Misfire P0316 – Misfire Detected at Startup P06E9 – Fuel Injector Control Performance P1026 – Fuel Injection System Malfunction Additionally, during repairs, my fuel injectors were found to be clogged with debris, requiring replacement along with the engine. Given that these issues arose immediately after the oil change.

I finally was able to get my Ford Escape into a Ford dealership to be inspected and they confirmed that I will need an entire engine replacement because coolant is leaking into cylinder 3. This is exactly the same engine Ford recalled on the 1.5 but not on the 2.0 yet and my Escape is a 2.0. When I spoke to the Ford Company I was given a case number and told it would take several weeks for Ford to send me a letter to see if they will assist in the repair or not. As a [XXX] this is our only vehicle and I'm honestly at a loss as to what I will do without a car for several weeks. My safety and the safety of my children are at risk because if I do try to drive the car until I hear from Ford it stalls in the lower gears leaving us at risk of being hit if I pull out and the Escape doesn't engage fast enough. We are also in danger because if I am not daily putting anti-freeze into the car Ford states that the engine might catch fire. Yes, the vehicle was inspected by Pierre Ford yesterday, Monday, March 24, 2025. I have had an engine light on for a few months and have had to start adding anti-freeze on a regular basis but it was about 2 weeks ago when I had a warning pop up on the digital dash stating, "Engine Fault Service Now". I purchased this car used at a local non-Ford dealership. The car had 50,000 miles on it when purchased. At 51,400 miles, a loud clicking sound could be heard coming from the engine. I took the car to the Ford dealership and they told me the engine needed to be replaced due to a finding lots of small pieces of metal in the oil filter and in other areas after removing the timing chain cover and doing an inspection. They determined I was 1 month out of warranty and stated the new engine would cost $14,000. "Big" Ford, after several months of back and forth, agreed to pay for 50% of the cost. Ford told me that if the engine were to completely "seize" it could have resulted in a major accident on the road. AFTER having the new engine installed, at 54,000 miles there was a burning smell entering the cabin through the vents. I took the vehicle back to the Ford dealership and they told me the valve cover gasket was leaking and needed to be replaced. They said it would not be part of the original warranty of the new engine and I needed to pay $1000 for the repair. After strongly pushing back and calling several other dealerships, the local dealer agreed to do the repair under warranty. I have zero faith in Ford due to this experience.

My 2019 Ford Escape Eco Boost Titanium vehicle is currently loosing antifreeze at an alarming rate. I had the error codes read and I have four. The first, P0303, states cylinder #3 is misfiring. The second, P0141, says the heater in 02 sensor is taking too long to warm up. The third, P0016, states the camshaft position A correlates to bank 1 and finally, P04DB, says the crankcase ventilation system in the vehicle is disconnected. From what I have read online the system that is failing is that there is an engine coolant leak. I am fine providing the car for inspection upon request. The safety of myself and my family is at risk because should I not keep the coolant filled and full Ford states that the vehicle engine may overheat, catch fire, damage the pistons, and possible misfires while driving. I reported the issue to Ford via their social media link X (twitter) on March 16, 2025 but I will also be calling the Ford contact phone number tomorrow, March 17. I hope to have the vehicle or component inspected by the manufacturer soon but based on the complaints online I am one of many having this failure on my vehicle. My engine warning light came on about 2 months ago but when I had it read for error codes at that time it only stated the code, P0141, the heater in 02 sensor is taking too long to warm up. At that time I called Ford service to see how I could get it repaired and was told that even though I had previously had the error codes read they would start by charging me $250 to read the error codes.

I drove this car off the lot with only 16k miles...by 28k miles...it required a new engine due to the known defect of coolant being leaked into the engine from the ceramic cylinders. 2 months later the car needed an alternator. I've been back and forth to the dealership and the costs are mounting. Just recently they wanted $1,500 for another repair. The car is unreliable and I still have over $16k left to pay on it. There are countless of other consumers online complaining about the same issues I am experiencing as well as a Class Action Law Suit against Ford in California for these ecoboost engines that I don't qualify for because I'm in Illinois. I just really need help with this matter because it's not getting better.

Was driving car is 2019 and has 84802 miles and no issues and all of a sudden power train issue came on and car would barely drive. The dealer was rude and zero help and so was ford number. There are 96 complaints of the same thing that should fall under the campaign 22v413000. I had on my ford app that I was part of the csp but the dealer said I was not and would do nothing for me and now look I have the exact issue and now no one wants to take care of it and it is not a cheap repair. FORD should have to refund me this money ASAP!!!! Or do something because how do I know I won’t have more issues after I get this fixed. I bought this car brand new and also took it to dealer to get all oil changes and etc to make sure things were handled and they were not. Will not ever go back to that dealer. And not sure I will ever buy a ford again because of how I have been treated so far.

After the vehicle has been running and stopped at a traffic light or an intersection, whether the auto-start is on or off, as you pull out into traffic the engine shuts off. No error code to the computer that Ford could find, it just stops. This is a life and death situation as oncoming traffic are approaching. In order to get it started again, you have to put the vehicle in park and push the stop/start button.

This resulted in my having to get to the shoulder of the road as quickly as possible to get out of the way of traffic. The vehicle was driven to the dealer (i.e. limp home mode). I have a 2019 Ford Escape Ecoboost, and the engine had to be replaced at 64,000 miles due to an issue with 2017-2019 Ford Escapes, which Ford did not recall. What happens is the engine sucks all of the antifreeze out of its compartment and dumps it onto the engine block, ruining the engine. It's ridiculous that Ford did not recall this issue, as it is terribly costly to replace an engine on a vehicle. What's even more ridiculous is having to replace an engine with so few miles and paying out of pocket when you're still paying for the vehicle. Some have reported having to have their engine replaced at 15,000 on these same vehicles. Ford needs to be held accountable, if not sued over this issue. And, the dealerships are not nice when they have to fix the problem. Worst and most costly experience with a vehicle ever!

It was told to me that I needed an engine so ford didn’t contact my warranty company & decided to pay out of there pocket for a short block. The new engine & short block was supposedly put in. The engine in this vehicle has a known design flaw (see Ford Customer Satisfaction Programs 19B37/21N12) that causes the cylinder head gasket to fail at a location that allows coolant to enter the cylinder. Coolant contains chemicals like ethylene glycol or propylene glycol. While not easily flammable at room temperature, coolant can catch fire if it reaches its autoignition temperature, which can happen when exposed to the extreme heat and pressure inside an engine cylinder during combustion. The gasket failure also exposes the coolant passages within the cylinder head to these extreme temperatures and allows exhaust gases to enter through the failure location. Additionally, the coolant leak will also cause the engine to run at a higher temperature and the increased heat can further elevate the fire risk. Ford admits to this issue and will replace the engine in affected vehicles through Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12, however this program conveniently expired in November 2022, before most owners were made aware of the issue. This extremely dangerous defect does not become less dangerous with the passage of time and there should be no time limit on this repair. Either a class action lawsuit or action by the NHTSA will be required to force Ford to make these repairs. My own vehicle has been parked and not driven for well over a year due to this issue. It was replaced with a Chevrolet Traverse and I refuse to sell the defective Ford Escape to an unsuspecting buyer who would unwittingly be putting their family’s lives in danger.

so its the worst case, there is coolant in multiple cylinders that is why that plug is seized. that coolant leaking in there causes corrosion and essentially welds that plug in place. so i need an engine.

The 2019 Ford Escape (purchased new in December 2018) was taken to the Nick Mayer Ford (Mayfield Heights, Ohio where it was purchased) service department in August/September 2024 for a computer diagnostic analysis for a previous warranty recall/repair problems regarding short block replacement for coolant intrusion that was not performed/corrected several years prior in 2021 when only the turbocharger was replaced. The problem was excessive smoke being emitted at engine start back in 2021 when the only turbocharger was replaced and the problem reappeared in August 2024. Nick Mayer Ford had the vehicle for two weeks in August/September 2024 and provided neither a computer diagnostic analysis report nor repair of the previous recall/repair issues (2021) including no explanation/resolution of the problem. Currently, due to the previous undiagnosed/unresolved problems, the engine failed at 70,000 miles in December 2024 and the long engine block has to be replaced. The engine warning lamp was on at the time of engine failure. We are still paying on a car loan for the vehicle. References: 1. Coolant leak in the engine

Nov 22, 2024

I purchased my 2019 ford escape 1.5 ecoboost almost 3 years ago and now without any common symptoms I have a manufacture fault caused coolant leak into my engine. To keep my vehicle in a safe driving condition I would need a new $10K engine replacement. Ford negligently did not recall the part that caused the issue.

Took my 2019 escape in for regular maintenance of changing spark plugs and transmission fluid change. My vehicle was running just fine no issues when I brought it in. They did the service and only after a test drive did it start to misfire. Long story short the mechanic found it was issue with a faulty cracked piston in the cylinder which caused antifreeze to leak into the cylinder. The only repair for this is a new engine! I regularly serviced my vehicle several times a year at ford and never once received any sort of recall alerts in the mail, email or ford app nor did any the of ford service technicians mentioned anything during service appointments. Excuse my wording If I didn’t use the correct terms but this is literally the same issue the f150’s are having so I am curious to why mine has not been recalled yet? I have a 5 year old suv that now needs a new engine and ford knows about the fault and they best replace my engine for free this is shady ford. I’m single mom of 3 kids I can’t afford to replace an engine?! That’s why I bought the 2019 escape brand new to avoid stuff like this happening on a older vehicle but now here I am with a vehicle that is un drivable after 5 years!! Please add this model to your recall ford don’t be so greedy it’s your mistake you pay for it!

A fault in the engine block caused a crack allowing coolant to spill into the engine's cylinders. A powertrain fault occurred with loss of power while driving. The problem has been confirmed and inspected by the manufacturer. Misfires occurred intermittently prior to the failure.

Coolant is going into the engine. Ford will not replace since it is a known issue and not a recall. I've had to replace cylinder 3 and spark plug since car started jolting down the road and wouldn't go past 30 mph. Constantly adding coolant. It is available for inspection upon request. Safety is a big issue since I have 2 kids that are with me in that vehicle. If the engine fails while I'm driving it puts everyone on the road at risk. Local Ford dealership confirmed with me this issue was coolant intrusion. This issue has been ongoing since June 2024 until present Nov 2024. Messages for engine failure have popped up. Overheating has came about. Misfiring popped up.

Car started having Misfire code around 40,000 miles (September 2023). Spark plugs and coils were changed out twice within a few months of each other. The last technician to replace the coils said it looked like oil was on the spark plugs. Check Engine light still remains on to this day. Around 55,000 miles, noticed coolant was needing to be replaced every other day. Took to Ford Dealership 10/29/24. Video from Technician, shows coolant leaking into engine and stated this is a common problem TSB and we need a new engine ($9,088). Took to local mechanic for second opinion (11/2/24). He found the same issue. Per Ford Dealership, car is out of warranty as of March 2024 (5 year/50,000). This car was purchased used 1/2023 with 26,800 miles. The car hesitates to start. I have to try multiple times to start the car. Called Ford Motor Company 11/06/24 and they stated to file with NHTSA.

In some of the affected vehicles the 1.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or may run in a rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into a cylinder bore.

My check engine light first came on in June 2024 (3 months ago), and said there were too many cylinder 4 misfires, and to replace the spark plugs. This was done, check engine light was cleared. My car began showing an "engine fault, service now" error 2.5 weeks ago and it sounded like water was "rushing" in the engine. The check engine light came on 3 days later, got the codes read, took it to a mechanic, then exchanged the ignition coil. When I went to pick it up, the car shuddered whenever trying to accelerate, so much so that my car wouldn't accelerate, and I had to have to towed to the Ford dealer. The mechanic confirmed that with the codes and the symptoms, and he previously worked at Ford, there is a coolant leak into the engine block and I would likely need a new engine. There is a Technical Service Bulletin out for this issue, so they know it exists. The dealer has not confirmed the issue yet, they said it will probably take 2 weeks before they get to that, then it would likely be 1-3 months to get the parts here, then they would start repairing it, but there were 3 vehicles ahead of mine with the exact same issue. My safety was put at risk because the car would not accelerate to the speed limit, increasing likelihood of a wreck, and the engine felt like it was going to die at any moment when I returned the one block back to the mechanic.

Coolant leak into cylinders leading to loss of power/acceleration and degradation of the engine. Inability to accelerate and loss of acceleration posed safety risk when merging into traffic or being able to avoid an accident. Degradation of the entire engine puts the vehicle at risk and compromises safety of the driver and other cars on the road. Problem confirmed by independent mechanic and Jack Kain Ford dealership. Check engine light came on and at first was diagnosed as needing spark plugs replaced. Vehicle shaking and check engine light continued leading to the diagnosis of coolant leak. According to both mechanic and dealer, this is a common engine design flaw in the 2013-2019 Escapes of all type 1.5, 1.6 & 2.O L.

Engine light was coming on in the car. Engine was shuttering and ticking/knocking on start up and then would stop after running for about a minute. Had it put on the scanner and the code said misfire on cylinder one/ignition coil. Had ignition coil on cylinder one replaced twice. 1st time replaced was the beginning of Sept and then the 2nd time on 9/18/24. Car would run fine for a week and then the engine light would come on again and the engine was doing the same thing. This time took the car to the Ford dealership. Service Supervisor said coolant was leaking into the cylinder and that the short block would need to be replaced. The car had 54,000 miles on it when these issues started and now the engine needs to be replaced at only 56,000 miles and I am without a car while having to wait for it to get fixed. Car could have stalled/stopped while driving and caused an accident. Engine will be at the dealership for review if needed.

This Ford Escape has a known engine problem that results in a spark plug seizing into the engine block. This known issue causes the motor to hesitate, run poorly, become sluggish and ultimately fail potentially in traffic. This concern becomes a danger to other drivers as well as the owner of the vehicle. The dealership immediately knew of the concern was aware of the problem when we called. It took them minute to confirm the problem and they stated to us, "we've seen this problem, on this specific engine a number of time." Ford is aware of the problem and provides some or no assistance to consumers. They are provide some assistance to my family, but I'm not sure why they are not fixing the known problem at Ford's total expense. This specific vehicle has 55,000 miles and is 2 month outside of the 60 month engine and drivetrain warranty. Ford customer service will not advance our conversation beyond the dealership requesting help for a known issue. My sisters safety was at risk before identifying the concern. Ford is making her pay $4700 and a 3 week car rental to repair for their known issue. This seems blatantly unfair and unsafe to consumers. sincerely

The 2.0 Ecoboost has a known defect than can cause coolant to leak into the pistons causing total engine failure. This could cause an accident due to lack of power and or loss of power while driving or crossing roads or highways. I have spoke to Ford techs and the dealership. Ford has admitted this issue and have failed to provide any type of repair or recall. My current 2019 is not showing symptoms but they could arrive at any moment. This is worrisome, knowing an issue could arrive that would put my family and myself at risk

On Monday [XXX], my wife was driving her 2019 FORD ESCAPE SPORT WG. She received an alert on the dashboard that her car was overheating. She stopped at a parking lot and the car was towed to our mechanic. His diagnostic was this, "Your car has random misfire codes (P0300). We found antifreeze (coolant) in cylinder #3. This is basically what the extended warranty should cover." Steve Yun - VP of Operations,Decatur Auto Repair and Body Inc,301 Dekalb Industrial Way,Decatur, GA The vehicle is now with Ford FIve Star Dealership in Stone Mountain, Georgia and they are refusing to repair the vehicle because it is not covered by the extended warranty. NOTE: When I spoke with customer service at Ford Corporate - at this number ((800) 392-3673) - we were also informed that our vehicle was not covered because our specific vehicle was over the five year warranty date (July 2) and there was not an extended warranty assigned to the VIN#. COOLANT LEAKAGE INTO THE CYLINDER BORES CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE AND COULD LEAD TO ENGINE FIRE. THIS ISSUE IS UNDER A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA CURRENTLY. MANY EMPLOYEES I SPOKE WITH IN THE FORD SERVICE DEPT AND FORD CUSTOMER CARE STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THEY ARE ONLY FIXING THIS ISSUE ON VEHICLES THROUGH 84K MILES. I WAS SOLD THIS CAR IN JULY 2022, THE LAWSUIT FILED IN 2021. THE ISSUE WAS CONFIRMED BY COGGIN FORD SERVICE DEPT ON 7/22/24. Problem was first detected when engine service light came on while engine was idle. Coolant reservoir was empty and filled several times prior to inspection by the same dealership where the car was purchased. Inspection happened 11 days later, car was driven about 100 miles between first noticing the empty coolant tank and the date of service. During inspection and diagnostic, coolant was found leaking into cylinder along with a broken head gasket and a cracked engine block. Since getting service at the dealer, car has been observed to be lurching when accelerating at either highway speeds or high RPM (unsure of precise onset of symptom), creating worries that diagnosing the problem has accelerated the engine deterioration.

I have a coolant intrusion. CEL came on a couple weeks ago. The code it gave was a cylinder 3 misfire. I took it to Perry County Tire in Hazard KY and they said it needed a new ignition coil and 4 new spark plugs. They replaced the coil and all spark plugs. The CEL came back on a few days later, giving the same cylinder 3 misfire code. I then took it back and they replace the ignition coil again. The CEL came back on about 4 days later and I took it back, now seeing a puff of white smoke when I start the car and put it into reverse. They said my coolant was low and I have an intrusion and then referred me to another service center because they did not do engine or gasket repairs.

Warning light comes on the dash and Ford App that car is overheating and to service. Car will not move but stays running and the cooling fan comes on. This happened when car was started first thing in morning so it hadn't been running for at least 12 hours. Had the same issue back in Nov of 2023 took into Friendly Ford in Monroe, MI and they had it for a couple of weeks and couldn't duplicate the code, they were able to remove the code off and said if it happened again to bring it back in but basically they couldn't find anything wrong. It happened again on [XXX] and after having it towed again to the dealership which now my mileage is 60,242 its putting me over my powertrain warranty, however, when it was in the first time I was only at 50,853 miles. I am currently waiting for the dealership to look at my car and let me know what they find out. They also told me that there mechanic is 3 months behind and they have no loaner car to give me. They also told me that I couldn't take it to another dealership because they are independently owned and since they never fixed anything on it if I took it some place else it would be on my dime. Obviously there is something wrong with the car if I have gotten this warning 2 times within 8months.The first time (Nov 2023) I was lucky enough to coast into a gas station to get out of traffic and this time I only got to the end of my driveway, but unfortunately I had to have the car towed both times and this time was on my dime because of the miles on the car. My car is a 2019 Ford Escape with only 50,242 miles on it, doesn't seem like I should have this problem with it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If I continue to drive this car without replacing the engine which could affect my ability to brake safely in an emergency. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Vehicle had check engine light come on. Took it to the Ford dealer and was told it needed a tuneup. They put in new spark plugs and it did not solve the problem. I took it to an independent mechanic, he scanned it and determined the head gasket was leaking. Looked on the internet to find this is a fairly common problem with the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. The vehicle has not been fixed. Checking to see if there is any recall on this particular vehicle.05

Vehicle started to idle oddly on startup. Then a few days later it started to vibrate or cavitate. Check engine light came on. Scheduled for service. Service as of today 05/31/2024, coolant has leaked into engine, engine needs replaced according to service provider. The engine fault service soon message came on so we took it to Griffifth Ford in San Marcos, Texas where they diagnosed the problem and said it was cooler intrusion in to cylinder #2..they said it needs a new longblock. Car has 100384 miles and we had the same issue back in August of 2020 where Ford replaced the motor at 20k miles. Ford wouldn't help this time and said I have to pay around $10k to fix it.

While driving on the highway, the engine suddenly started sputtering, and it could no longer maintain speed (up to about 25-30 mph). This was very unsafe on a highway no safe place to bring the car to a stop. The Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as coolant leaking into the cylinders in the engine because of cracked channels. They shared with me this is a known issue (Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12), however, my car is 3 thousand miles over the maximum limit of this program, so they will not fix the problem for free. The dealership suggested a full engine replacement, for which they estimated about $9,800 for the repair. This issue comes after a previous issue a few months ago where my wife was driving and the engine overheated, went into "safe mode," and she was unable to accelerate beyond about 10-15 mph. She was on a busy road and called me in tears after managing to bring the car to a stop on the side of a road without a large shoulder. At the time, the mechanic said it was only a thermostat that was stuck wide open, and I spent $1,200 on this repair. I continued to notice low coolant levels and would refill the coolant regularly. This issue persisted and led to the above failure. Ford knows this is an issue with their vehicles, and they have created two dangerous safety instances for my family in the past few months. There are 27, now 28 complaints related to this issue on 2019 Ford Escapes alone. I also learned there is a class action lawsuit related to this issue. Those complaints are Complaints # 11568017, 11561318, 11556483, 11551020, 11550783, 11542737, 11537997, 11534353, 11528142, 11520853, 11516926, 11498957, 11492059, 11489799, 11482570, 11482636, 11463646, 11453678, 11440977, 11437303, 11427846, 11385495, 11353322, 11330042, 11323757, 11311097, 11307636. This occurred after an engine replacement in the vehicle. The engine now has a crack in it and the short block needs replacing. This is the second time I am in need of an engine replacement in 90k miles on the vehicle. The cylinders continue to intermitently misfire and the engine leaks oil. My engine has randomly shut off in the middle of driving. I have taken it to the dealership to be serviced two times. The first time they thought they fixed the issue. But it didn’t work. The second time they couldn’t find anything wrong. Our safety is 100% at risk as it happens in the middle of driving. I have a one and two year old who have been in the car every time it has happened. We have luckily been able to get off the highway each time, but I drive across a 25 minute bridge twice a day to work and back home with my children..across water! My service light has only come on the time they were able to fix something, which again did not fix the problem. But I do get the same message each time on my dashboard that says auto start stop needs to be restarted manually.

Aug 19, 2023

The car started having shifting problems. An hour later, we got an error message in our display saying "transmission failure" and to stop immediately. We stopped and called to be towed. Luckily we were not on highway. Should we have been in a heavy traffic, we could have gotten into a situation, where the car wouldn't be steerable while driving. The repair shop told us first that the flywheel was gone. A week later they told us, that the transmission must be replaced too. It looks like we will be without our car for months.

The vehicle was running then a warning stated stop safety. It started slowing down on its own with vehicles behind me. Luckily I was able to get to safety with out and accident. This started in May. The temperature control went to hot. It was taken to Ford and a diagnostic was performed. It had fault codesP0217, I P0302, P0303, P0316, and P1285. l found out that it is a coolant leak problem and it will overheat. I need a motor or another vehicle. I was told I will continue to have issues with this vehicle with that problem Since May, the vehicle had to be towed two times and it is still the same issues.

This vehicle has the 1.5L turbo engine and 64,xxx miles on it. Recently there has been large amounts of smoke come out of the exhaust after the car sits for several hours at a time. There are not any service/check engine lights on, however I feel as if it is only a matter of time before something bad happens to this vehicle. I have owned it since it was brand new and this is the only issue that has happened with this car. This is my wife's daily driver and with two kids and one on the way this could cause issues at a very bad time.

I was not informed of a safety recall prior to purchasing the vehicle in August of 2022. I was told there were no recalls on it. In addition to that when I brought up my complaint with the dealership they stated they did not see the repair in there system and it was most likely due to them not updating it after a repair. I am enquiring about a failure to disclose claim and if the dealership was required to do that prior to my purchase. In addition to this, there was a coolant leak in my vehicle that leaked all over the engined and was causing it to misfire violently.

My 2019 Ford Escape has had engine coolant leak into the #2 cylinder and has caused engine damage and I am being told that the engine needs to be replaced. I have questioned Ford and the dealership has confirmed this damage and I am being told that Ford will not assist in replacing the engine. The vehicle has 81100 miles and in looking at other complaints this is an ongoing issues with these vehicles over several years. I would like to have Ford pay to have the engine replaced as this should be a recall condition due to ongoing issues.

I have had this car for a year and a half and it only has 38000 miles on it. The check engine light has come on numerous times, and has been fixed 3 times. Yesterday I got an a,eat that it was overheating so I limped home and had it fixed again. There was no coolant in the engine and from the reviews I am reading apparently this is a known issue with this vehicle. This needs to be a recall by Ford! I’m going to have it fixed one more time then sell it as it’s not safe to drive! No excuse for such shoddy workmanship by Ford. I’ll stick to Honda or Toyota from here on out.

My check engine light came on in my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium Sport Utility 4D. I took it to the Ford Dealership to have it checked out. They informed me that the engine had coolant in it and that the entire engine would need replaced. They informed me that the car was not safe to drive, that it was out of coolant and could over heat and even potentially catch fire. They then informed me that there was already a technical service bulletin from Ford about this issue. This is a known issue for this car and Ford has not put out a safety recall. This could had significant potential to put myself and my children at risk.

The ERG or Purge Valve failed, causing a hole to be burned into my intake manifold, which caused my car not to be able to read my fuel properly which caused air and heat to build which caused my catalytic converter to melt. The danger is my car could’ve caught on fire, a check engine light came on and we went to AutoZone and they said the code read O2 censor, but nothing ever indicated ERG or Purge Valve. Ford of Dalton said he’s never seen one do this kind of damage.

For the past few months I have been noticing a hot coolant smell from outside the vehicle. After investigating, I noticed the coolant level was low and there was residue on the valve cover. Afterwards, I refilled the coolant reservoir and continued driving for another week to make sure the coolant was leaking. Afterwards, I inspected the vehicle further to check for any external leaks and could not find any, but my reservoir was much lower when I check again. I then made an appointment with the dealership to see if they could find anything. They kept my vehicle for a day to run a pressure test, but oddly enough it passed the pressure test and they could not find any leaks. I only have 3000 miles left before the warranty expires and the service manager told me it would be fine to drive on our trip that we were getting ready to take. I did not take it on the trip because I was worried something catastrophic to the engine would happen. The dealership did not fix my problem at all. They just said it would be fine. I have to add about 1 quart of coolant every week to two weeks, which is definitely not “fine”. Ford has a service bulletin for my engine and they need replaced! They are intentionally trying to get away with not fixing the engine while it is still under warranty. There is even a class action lawsuit with this as well, as people are being scammed into paying for a whole new engine when it should have been paid for by Ford Mo Co. To add to this, mutiple vehicles were there for the same issue as mine, including new Broncos. There needs to be a recall in place!

Whitish and/or whitish-blue smoke comes out of tailpipes when starting vehicle . Believe there is faulty head gasket or engine block that causes oil to be mixed with antifreeze resulting in permanent damage to engine over time which could lead to possible fires, breakdowns, and or fumes. Tried to get it looked at to confirm that the 1.5l engines from the 2019 Ford Escapes are an issue like past models but dealership tried to side step me and not properly look over vehicle in my opinion.

I was driving my car and then all of a sudden it's starts to jerk and make this clanking sound and stops in the middle of traffic...a indicator check engine light pops in and the service transmission soon..thank God there was no accident due to quick thinking. I try to restart the car and take to the dealer where I bought it and was told they could do nothing and they were backed for 3 months and they just cleared out the message. I start driving it again because I don't have a car and I have to get back and forth to work. Maybe 2 days later it's does the same thing and the car shut down and wouldn't change any gears. I had to get towed which cost money out of my pocket. The car would not move. I only had this car 2 months and I feel as if this was known before the car was sold. Know I have no car and being expected of paying a car note. I contacted Ford and they have nothing to say about it. This is unjust and creeping it's way into a civil lawsuit due to the many complaints. I just want my car fixed as it should because who pays for a car they can't drive.

When taken to the shop and after one week was towed to ford due to not being about to fix this problem. Once it arrived at ford the issue was found to be a leaking coolant which ruined the engine. This is a known ford problem. They will not fix the vehicle and for over a month we have been fighting with ford they have made no progress. This is known to cause engine failure, or verb eating engines, and even engine fires.

Also while trying to locate the purge valve, part number: Gv6z9d289e, I found that several other people were also trying to locate the part indicating this is an issue in several vehicles. The vehicle vapor locks upon fueling possibly resulting in future engine damage.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact drove to the gas station and while refueling, there was an abnormal fuel odor coming from the vehicle. After restarting and driving the vehicle back to the residence, the fuel odor inside the cabin of the vehicle was extremely strong, causing the contact to have a headache. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who inspected and diagnosed the failure as the emission evap valve was not properly separating the fuel inside the fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired because the local dealer did not have the parts needed to perform the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Bought new March 2019; May 2020, with 32,000 miles, had a coolant leak and had to replace engine; about 6 weeks later needed anew flywheel and about 2 months after that needed some of the oxygen sensors replaced.

Oct 19, 2021

Our check engine light came on in our 2019 Ford Escape, which has 80,000 miles. It overheated with no warning. We took it to the dealership who informed us the coolant leaked and caused a crack in the engine between the 2nd and 3rd cylinders and said the engine needs to be completely replaced.

At 44,000 miles Engine began to idle badly on startup and misfire. Engine light came on during drive home after work. Stopped vehicle and had it towed to the nearest Ford Dealer. Dealer Service Technician checked codes and reported P0304 cylinder 4 miss fire. Dealer Technician replaced and replaced all four sparks plugs and used 446676 cleaner to clean throttle body, intake, fuel injectors and valve. Few days later engine light returned, took vehicle back to Ford Dealer. Ford Technician checked and road tested vehicle and stated 446676 cleaner may not have finished cleaning systems and that was the cause of the engine light. A few days later engine began to idle badly on startup and misfire again. Then saw white smoke came from the exhaust on startup. Two weeks earlier just had vehicle service maintenance completed by the Ford Dealer. Invoice #233228 and #782806.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Escape. The contact stated that in November of 2020 the engine was replaced under an unknown recall. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that after attempting and restarting the vehicle several times, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the VIN was under a recall. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that approximately 8 months later the failure recurred while driving approximately 35 mph. The vehicle was restarted and driven to the dealer. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The failure recurred while driving 55 mph. The vehicle was returned a third time to the dealer however, a repair was not performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000. Consumer stated case number [XXX] was opened by Ford corporate. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”

Engine began to idle badly on startup and misfire. White smoke came from exhaust on startup. Coolant levels started to decrease. Engine is burning coolant that has leaked into the cylinders due to a defect in the casting of the engine block. Dealership is now saying car needs an entire new engine block. Obviously the previous recall that was addressed did not solve the issue.

PURCHASED VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2019, IN FEBRUARY 2020 HAD ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND THE CODE P0496 WHICH IS A PURGE VALVE ERROR AND TOOK TO SERVICE AND THEY STATED THAT FORD HAD TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN TWICE, SO ON MARCH 17, 2020, IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND WAS TAKEN TO SERVICE AGAIN AND IT WAS REPLACED. ALMOST 1 YEAR LATER, ON FEBRUARY 27,2021 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO SERVICE ON MARCH 2 AND WAS REPLACED AGAIN. NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE , BUT THERE SHOULD BE. THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON A NEW VEHICLE NOR SHOULD IT CONTINUE TO HAPPEN! IT IS NOW ON ITS 3 RD PURGE VALVE!!!

BOUGHT USED ESCAPE IN APRIL. DIDN'T DRIVE MUCH SINCE I LIVE IN TOWN. TOOK A HOUR DRIVE FROM HOME.ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AND CAR WAS JERKING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD FOR TWO WEEKS. SAID WAS SOLENOID IN TRANSMISSION AND REPLACED IT. PICKED UP, TOOK HOME. DROVE 3 DAYS LATER, STARTED DOING SAME THING. DROVE NEXT DAY AND CAR QUITE RUNNING 1 BLOCK FROM HOUSE. TRIED TO START BUT STARTED MISSING AND QUIT. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD FOR 2 WEEKS. SAID CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SHAFT SENSOR WERE BAD AND REPLACED THEM. THEY TEST DROVE OVER 400 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS. PICKED UP AND DROVE LESS THEN 5 MILE AND STARTED MISFIRING AGAIN. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS ALTERNATOR.THEY REPLACED AND IT TOOK THREE WEEKS TO GET BACK. A COUPLE OF DAY LATER I DROVE 2 MILES TO GAS STATION, FILLED UP AND GOT ON INTERSTATE. BY FIRST EXIT(2-3 MILES) IT STARTED MISSING AGAIN. DROVE TO SECOND EXIT TO GET OFF INTERSTATE SINCE I DIDN'T TRUST. TOP SPEED ON INTERSTATE WAS 45 MPH. OIL LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AS IF CAR WAS STALLING. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY HAVE HAD FOR GOING ON 4 WEEKS WITH NO WORD ON WHAT THEY FOUND. CAR HAD 27,939 MILES WHEN WE BOUGHT KNOW HAS 30,030 MILES. HAD SINCE APRIL OF 2020 AND WAS BEEN IN SHOP 11 WEEK.

I PURCHASED MY 2019 FORD ESCAPE BRAND NEW IN EARLY SPRING OF 2019. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY ESCAPE I DID NOTICE SOME SLIPPAGE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I PLANNED ON GOING BACK TO THE DEALER SO THEY COULD CHECK IT OUT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I BECAME ILL, AND THEREFORE IT SLIPPED MY MIND. I WAS IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPITAL FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT AS SOON AS I FELT WELL ENOUGH I COULD NOT WAIT TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR AGAIN. MY FIRST TRIP WAS ACTUALLY TO MY ONCOLOGIST OFFICE, BUT I WAS EXCITED JUST TO BE DRIVING. ON MY WAY THERE, HOWEVER, MY CAR JERKED ME TO THE LEFT CAUSING ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD. I WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE, SO I PARKED AND WENT ABOUT MY BUSINESS. WHEN I MY APPOINTMENT WAS OVER, AND I CAME BACK OUT I NOTICED I HAD A FLAT TIRE. IT REALLY SURPRISED ME, BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I DID HAVE THE WEIRD INCIDENT I MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY, I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD CAUSE MY TIRE TO BLOW OUT. SO, I HAD THE TIRE REPLACED, AND LIFE WENT ON. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING MY CAR. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR THE FIRST TIME 11/19/19, MY CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER 1/20/21 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I ADMIT, I DO NOT DRIVE MY CAR MUCH THESE DAYS, BUT I DO MAKE AN EFFORT TO START IT ALMOST EVERYDAY, AND LET RUN FOR 20 MINUTES. WHEN I PURCHASED THE ESCAPE, I WAS EXPECTING TO HAVE TO DRIVE TO THE MEDICAL ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH. I AM SURE EVERYONE IS DRIVING LESS BECAUSE OF THE CORONA VIRUS. I REALLY FEEL NERVOUS GOING OUT BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLE AND CORONA. I HAVE CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE MORE SINCE I BOUGHT THE 2019 ESCAPE, THAN MY OWN MOTHER. ONE LAST THING. I DID MENTION THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, IT DROVE FINE, BUT I RECORDED THE MILEAGE WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP, AND THE MILEAGE WAS THE SAME AS IT WAS WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF.

2019 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM STEERING WHEEL SHAKES/VIBRATES HEAVY & MAKES A LOUD NOISE FROM CAR (ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE A BAD LOUD MUFFLER SOUND) AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH & 45MPH WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE IS LEVELED AT SPEED AND ALSO DOES THE SAME WHEN GOING UP AN INCLINE AT THE SAME SPEEDS. ALSO TRANSMISSION SLIPS BETWEEN 1 & 2 GEARS INTERMITTENTLY. VERY BUMPY RIDE IN THE BACK WHEN GOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THESE ISSUES HAPPEN WHEN ON LOCAL ROADS & HIGHWAY RAMPS. DEALER REPAIR HAS CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES. FIRST FEW TIMES THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. DECEMBER 29, 2020 FINALLY GOT THE ISSUE TO REPLICATE AND PUT A TICKET DIRECTLY INTO FORD. I CHECKED BACK ON 1/7/2021 SINCE I BARE THE HEARD FROM THE DEALER SERVICE REP. AT THAT TIME SHE STILL DIDN'T HAVE AN ANSWER TO A RESOLUTION TO FIX THE FAULT. I CALLED TODAY 1/13/2021 AND THE DEALER REPAIR SERVICE REP SAID IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE MODEL BECAUSE THEY INFORMED FORD ON THE TICKET THEY TESTED ANOTHER 2019 ESCAPE WITH THE SAME ENGINE & TRANSMISSION AND IT HAD THE SAME FAULT. CAR WAS MANUFACTURED 3/2019. PLEASE NOTE I HAVE PURCHASED BRAND NEW FORD ESCAPES IN 2002, 2005, 2009, 2017 & 2019. I KNOW HOW THE ENGINE & TRANSMISSION OF A FORD ESCAPE SHOULD PREFORM. I STILL HAVE MY 2009 ESCAPE AND IT PREFORMS BETTER THEN THIS 2019...COMPARABLE ENGINES & TRIM PACKAGE. THE FAULTS THIS 2019 IS HAVING ARE NOT CHARACTERISTICS OF A CAR THEY ARE CLEARLY ISSUES WHERE PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED TO OPERATE PROPERLY. FORD NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIND WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE AND REPAIR IT CORRECTLY.

BOUGHT THIS CAR AS CERTIFIED PRE OWNED FROM A FORD DEALER WITH 28K MILES. APPROX. 4 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE THE ENGINE STARTS RUNNING ROUGH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH AN ERROR CODE P0303 MISFIRE. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED COOLANT IN CYLINDER 3 WITH THE FIX BEING A NEW SHORT BLOCK ENGINE REPLACEMENT. IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT VERY FRUSTRATING THIS HAPPENED TO A CAR WITH LOW MILES. AFTER DOING RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD 1.5 LITER ENGINE.

ALSO THE PASS FRONT SEAT BELT DOES NOT KEEP PROPER TENSION IF YOU LEAN FORWARD THEM SIT BACK THE SEAT BELT WILL HAVE SLACK IN IT UNTIL YOU MESS WITH IT TO GET IT TO GO BACK IN.

STARTING APPROXIMATELY OF APRIL OF THIS YEAR, NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS SURGING AND "MISSING" ON START. THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SPARK PLUG OR SUCH GOING BAD AND IT WASN'T HAPPENING WITH EVERY START. THEN MIDDLE OF MAY, IT WAS DAILY ON EVERY START AND WAS SURGING HARDER AND SPUTTERING. THE TACHOMETER WOULD EVEN RISE AND FALL IN QUICK SUCCESSION. ON MAY 20TH, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP. BEFORE EVEN LOOKING AT MY VEHICLE, AFTER DESCRIBING TO THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING, THEY ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG AND WHAT THE REMEDY WOULD BE. THEY STILL PUT MY CAR ON THE COMPUTER AND LOOKED IT OVER, BUT CAME OUT WITH THE CONCLUSION THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REBUILT. FAST FORWARD 2 MONTHS LATER, FINALLY GOT ALL THE PARTS IN TO REBUILD THE ENGINE, HOWEVER MY DEALERSHIP IS SMALL AND DO NOT HAVE A LOANER VEHICLE FOR ME AT THIS TIME. I AM UNDERSTANDING OF THAT. BUT THE CAR IS NOW DOING THIS ON EVERY START REGARDLESS IF I JUST STOPPED AT THE POST OFFICE FOR 5 MINUTES. THIS MORNING, IT SPUTTERED HARD AND THEN SHUT OFF FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT IS ALSO AFFECTING HOW IT SHIFTS FROM P TO D AND CAN TELL A DIFFERENCE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. CALLED FORD TO SEE IF THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE, THEY KEPT CIRCLING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE IMPENDING REPAIR. I FINALLY STATED THAT I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF FORD WAS ACKNOWLEDGING THIS ISSUE AND WAS REFERRED TO A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER NAMED JESSICA. SHE CALLS AND WAS LESS THAN FRIENDLY AND KEPT THROWING THE WORD "RECALL" AROUND, BUT THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL. SHE KEPT SAYING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS GETTING REPAIRED FOR A RECALL, AND I TOLD HER NO, IT IS GETTING REPAIRED BECAUSE I REPORTED ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. I'M OVER IT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE AND HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD TO HAVE MULTIPLE REBUILDS OF THEIR ENGINE AND THE PROBLEM NEVER SOLVED.

WHEN THE OFFICER UNSCREWED THE COVER OF THE COOLANT FLUID HOLDER, THE FLUID RAISED BY ITSELF TO MAXIMUM LINE. OFFICER DID NOT ADD MORE COOLANT. SHORTLY AFTER THE SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER WENT TO 0 AND SEVERAL OTHER ERRORS FOR ABS, ESC, AND OTHERS WENT OFF. THIS FELT LIKE THE SCENE FROM APOLLO 13 WHERE EVERYTHING WAS GOING WRONG AT ONCE. PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WALL BLEW WHILE TURNING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. LICENSE PLATE LIGHT OUT AND UNABLE TO REMOVE TO CHANGE. DEALERSHIP HAS HAD CAR SEVERAL TIMES CLAIMING NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. RADIO KEEPS SAYING "UPDATE" DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT'S MY PHONE (MY PHONE HAS NO UPDATES DUE) BRAKES MAKE TERRIBLE NOISE WHEN REVERSE BREAKING. A LITTLE OVER 11,000 MILES AND TRANSMISSION KEEPS SLIPPING BUT DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG, ALSO CAR DOES NOT WANT TO START HALF THE TIME. USB FOR PHONE CORD IN FRONT DOES NOT WANT TO STAY CONNECTED, AND BACK PORT FOR CAR CHARGER OVERHEATED AND CAUSED MY DAUGHTER BURNS ON HER HAND. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT AND IT STRANDED HER ON SIDE OF ROAD AND WOULDN'T START, HAD TO SHUT OFF ,TAKE OUT KEY AND LET SIT TO RESTART BUT DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG. SOON AFTER THE HEATER WOULD NOT WORK WHEN CAR WAS NOT IN GEAR. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO COOLANT LEAK IN TO VALVES. DEALER ALSO MENTIONED THAT I HAD LOST ALMOST ALL OF MY COOLANT. NOTE: I NEVER RECEIVED ANY WARNING MESSAGES ABOUT LOW COOLANT LEVEL. WE WERE DRIVING ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. SUDDENLY, THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD - NO LIGHTS OR POWER. CARS DRIVING AT BETWEEN 40-50 MPH WERE COMING UP BEHIND US, BUT COULD NOT SEE US BECAUSE WE COULD NOT EVEN GET HAZARD LIGHTS ON. WE WERE LOCKED IN - THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN!! AFTER SEVERAL NEAR MISSES, WE WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A STRANGER STOP AND HE WAS ABLE TO ALERT ONCOMING CARS SO WE WOULD NOT GET HIT. ENDS UP THAT THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY WAS VERY LOOSE AS WELL AS THE SURROUNDING FASTENERS OF THE BATTERY. WE PURCHASED THE CAR 5 WEEKS EARLIER, BRAND NEW WITH 11 MILES ON IT. AFTER GETTING TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS AN EASY FIX, BUT MY SAFETY CONCERN WAS THE FACT THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN!!! IF THERE WAS A FIRE, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED, AND WE COULD NOT GET OUT IN CASE WE WERE HIT BY THE VEHICLES COMING UP BEHIND US, WHICH CAME CLOSE A FEW TIMES!

TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT I STARTED GETTING ANOTHER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH THE CODE P0420. THE LOCAL DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIX IT OR HONOR MY WARRANTY BECAUSE IT'S A US SPEC VEHICLE AND I'M IN EUROPE. WHILE DRIVING A LOCAL INTERSTATE BETWEEN 60 AND 70 MPH, OUR NEWLY PURCHASED (3,000 MILES) 2019 FORD ESCAPE SEL SPORT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE NEAREST EXIT AND PULL OFF THE ROAD WHILE TRAFFIC WAS WHIZZING BY US AT BREAKNECK SPEED. TURNS OUT THAT PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS HAD EITHER LOOSENED ON ITS OWN OR WAS NEVER PROPERLY SECURED FROM THE FACTORY. SO, THE SERPENTINE BELT MANAGED TO CLIP THIS WIRING HARNESS WHICH, IN TURN, PULLED THE HARNESS FROM ITS SOCKET WHILE STARTING TO GRADUALLY SHRED THE SERPENTINE BELT. INSTANTANEOUS LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT WARNING CREATED A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION.
