My vehicle was subject to Ford Campaign 23B56 (front door check-arm reinforcement spot weld inspection). The dealership marked the campaign as completed and claimed the left front door failed inspection and was replaced. However, the door still does not close properly, and the check-arm area appears unchanged or improperly repaired. I believe the recall repair was not performed correctly or was misrepresented as completed. This is a safety concern because the door does not operate properly. I am requesting investigation of improper recall completion.

there was a door weld recall on my vehicles' door. I took it to the service shop. Was told Ford had no doors for replacement and to check back. i checked back after almost a year. service shop said Ford had indefinitely suspended fixing the door. Meanwhile, i am unable to roll down the drivers side window more than 2 inches. The recall does not show up as unrepaired, yet the door is broken. I don't know the next steps to take.

I exited my 2020 Escape and as I walked around the car to go into my house, as ai was passing the back of my car the Liftgate glass completely shattered. In the days prior I noticed the defroster was not defrosting all the way. I just got this car a month ago. Glass was everywhere thankfully no one was hurt nor were any of my kids in or around the vehicle at the time the window shattered.

In my Ford 2020 Escape Hybrid Titanium AWD car, Sunroof shade got misaligned and not closing anymore, resulting in more heat flowing into the car creating impacts inside. Also, as per others comments and online forums, there is a chance that this shade would fall on the passengers during the drive if not taken care quickly, resulting in injuries in adults and deaths in infants. Reached to a Ford dealership to fix this issue and its costing me close to $3000. As its a design flaw from Ford, I request Ford to do a fix for free of charge or recall and fix it for their customers and address their safety concerns immediately. In August 2025, the plastic cover in between the two pieces of glass on the panoramic sunroof unknowingly fell off when the shade liner was closed due to ineffective glue/sticky tabs that failed to keep the plastic cover on safely. When I went to open the liner, the plastic cover got trapped in the shade/roller housing, broke, and then the shade got completely sucked up into the housing where I can’t get it back out. Quotes to fix this range in the thousands of dollars due to the intensive labor replacing the shade requires. I have seen this happen to multiple owners, especially on the 2020 model. There is a video on YouTube describing this issue with over 6,000 views. Many in the comments also describe having their shade roller being completely damaged and spending thousands of dollars to fix it. There was no warning that the plastic cover was failing to hold up and no alert once it has fallen off. There was no safety mechanism in place to prevent the shade from being rolled.

I’m hearing a popping or snapping noise when I open and close my drivers side door. I also noticed a leak on the right upper side of the engine.

I am the owner of a 2020 Ford Escape experiencing two serious issues: 1.My vehicle is exhibiting the exact symptoms outlined in Ford CSP 23B56—specifically, the failure of the driver-side door check-arm welds. The door produces loud popping noises, feels unstable when opening/closing, and has visible signs of structural stress. Despite this, my VIN has been deemed ineligible for the program. Given that the issue matches the failure described in CSP 23B56, I am requesting a re-evaluation of my VIN’s coverage and a formal inspection under this program. 2.My vehicle is also subject to NHTSA Recall 25V467 / Ford Recall 25S76, concerning the potential for a cracked fuel injector leading to fuel accumulation on top of the engine—a serious fire hazard. According to NHTSA, there is currently no remedy available. This adds another layer of safety concern, particularly considering the compounding risks and Ford’s delay in delivering a fix. Between the structural door failure and a pending recall involving potential engine fires, I am deeply concerned about the safety and reliability of my vehicle. I am asking that my concerns be formally investigated and that Ford take appropriate responsibility for repairs, reimbursement (if applicable), or an expanded VIN inclusion under the CSP.

Front passenger side door is making a popping noise upon opening and closing. The door is difficult to close. This problem occurred suddenly. I am taking the car to the dealership.

The headliner has come loose and is drooping. So when I open it my back window is covered completely and I can’t see behind me in my windshield mirror. I think this is a big safety hazard.

Dislodged Door Check NHTSA Action #PE23013 All 6 rivets broke off when the wind caught the door. The door was uncontrolled by opening it and would fly open and stress the hinges. The door check fell into the door therefore I couldn't open my window. I had a body shop repair the problem for $1476.12. I was unaware of the service bulletin. There was no recall. It was not inspected by authorities. No warning lamps were available for this problem. I did have my Ford dealership inspect it after the repair on May 21, 2025

Door check Bracket Getting Stuck and Don't Close

Sunroof/Sunshade - Plastic trim piece approximately 28"x5" in between the Sunroof and Shade across the middle is held in by double face tape. Tape weakens and piece falls down potentially striking a rear passenger. In addition it can get caught in the shade fabric dislodging it and falling potentially obstructing the drivers rear view. Mine has been repaired once by Ford already but has failed again. Estimated cost is approximately $2000 plus labor. This is a known defect by the Ford Motor Company and they claim it out of warranty. Basic internet search revealed it is a common problem for more that one years models.

My drivers door started 2days ago, April 11, 2025 to make loud cracking noise when opening and closing out of no where. Then on April 12 while out running errands the door became detached. After several attempts to close I was able to close it but I'm having to get in and out from passenger side.

Faulty welds on door hinges, particularly where the check arm connects. This happened yesterday, loud cracking and grinding noise when the front driver door is opened or closed. Ford has known about this issue and refuses to issue a recall. And getting in touch with my local Ford dealer's service department is difficult.

I reported my 2020 Ford Escape last year. It went into the shop for inspection at Cook ford in Texas City after the ford recall for the doors. I also had reported it here. Kyle at Cook ford did a thorough inspection but advised me that their dealership did not have a paint and body shop and referred me to other dealerships with the ability to fix my car. After going to two dealerships, I ended up at Maik Haik in Pasadena Texas. They said they had two doors in stock and three months later my car was still in the shop and not fixed. They had put me in a rental and said in early December that the rental was not being covered by Ford and they were having to "eat" the expense. So, they returned my car in December with hopes of getting parts for it in the future. It now has been two months and no call from them Now your website says I do not have an open recall on my vin, but it does! My car is still not fixed! I am [XXX] and the windows don't work and the locks also have been effected by the problem with the doors! My [XXX] brother and I got locked out of and In the car several times and I had to use my app to unlock the door or climb in the back to get in! My wife and I bought our 2020 Ford Escape new from a dealer in 2020. We are the first owners of this vehicle. In the time that we have had it, we have experienced the following issues: 1- the forward camera module that provides collision prevention, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc has failed. The dealer claims that the unit “overheated”. The module is no longer covered under warranty due to mileage. The result is that our vehicle no longer has the safety features that we paid extra for upon initial purchase. 2- the evaporative canister purge valve failed, causing difficult starts after refueling. This was not covered under warranty, due to mileage. 3- the driver door hinge check arm welds have all broken loose and no longer hold the door when opening, and the loose arm is now preventing the door from closing properly and, when closed, causing the drivers window to not roll down fully. This is not covered under warranty because of mileage AND (while it is a manufacturing defect), it has not been subjected to any recalls, so the dealership will not repair/replace it.

Went to open the drivers side left front door and heard a loud clunk, now door isn't opening or shutting properly and we can't use the drivers window either. When driving over any small bump or uneven road, door cracks loudly, and twice has popped open in transit, then would not close until I pulled over, stopped, and manhandled the door to a close.

On the door, the brace to control the stability of the door has broken off on the inside of the door. This is very annoying that this is not considered a recall as this is something that can only be fix by replacing the entire door. That is not a convenient amount of money to just spend.

Drivers side door weld problem that could cause drivers side door to come open. My drivers side front door makes a creaky sound when I open it. It seems the internal weld to the door has failed. During my research to determine, if this was a national concern, I read internet articles stating this appears to be a faulty spot weld in the Drivers' side door check arm. For me, this started on [XXX], 2024. I reported the issue, to my local Ford Dealerships auto repair department, Gary Crossley Ford, Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, [XXX]. It told me Ford had not notified it of a recall, nor has it provided repair instructions. I spoke to Jennifer in Houston, TX, at the Customer Support Line 1.800.392.3673 on Friday, [XXX]. She stated parts and repair instructions were available and she was placing an order for them while, we spoke. This turned out to be false information, given the above stated information and Gary Crossley's auto repair department confirming on [XXX], 2024, it did not have the parts, nor did it have Ford how to repair instructions. Front door started making noises about 1 week ago.05/10/2024 Door is hard to close and it seem like it is not latched or closed properly. I don't let window down because its hard to get it closed. I took car to Ford Auto Body Shop, they stated door needed to be replaced , because of broken check arm reinforcement welds. Car is 3.6 years old and has 20,000 miles on it. Ford told me to wait for recall to be initated, or I could pay about $5000 to have door replaced. No warning sign before at all. I have extended warranty but it doesn't cover body.

Driver side door hinge is broken and it had to be replaced at a cost to me. Also the passenger side is doing the exact same thing as the driver side. Safety is at risk because doors will not close properly. Vehicle was taken back to dealership when it the driver side hinge malfunctioned and passenger side door was inspected by a body shop. There was not any warning signs that the hinge was broken on either door.

Ford has provided details on a one-time-repair customer satisfaction (23B56), stating that they will provide customers with a letter, currently targeted for March 2024, to bring the vehicle to a Ford dealership for a proactive repair...". - Today, 05/09/2024, the Ford dealer in our city rejected to provide any service or repairs for this issue, arguing that they have not received instructions from Ford. - The Ford dealer shared with us a communication from the "Chief Engineer Recall and CIDR Service Engineering Operations Ford Customer Service Division", dated 02/22/2024 notifying that "... A complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers by the end of the 2nd quarter, 2024, to support this customer satisfaction program...". - The damage to the door gets more significant every day and, despite the existence of the Customer Satisfaction Program 23B56, our only option at the moment seems to be taking the car to an independent car body shop and to pay for this ourselves. - We were told that Ford may reimburse us in the future, however, there are no details at all about the requirements to qualify for a refund, so we have no certainty that we would get our money back.

The piece that keeps my driver side door from opening to the point of breaking has broken from the door, and in turn is preventing my driver side window from opening/closing. The cause of this problem is that the solder came loose from the inside of the door. If the wind catches my door, I risk the chance of it buckling at the hinge of the driver door. I have taken it to the dealership in my area and they have reported it to Ford, who states that they are aware of the problem and are trying to find a solution. I am being told that it is going to be a recall, but it is not ready yet? It has been this way for almost 2 months. I took it to the dealership the first time on 3/5/24. Still nothing. This is unacceptable. If anything they can put on a new door. Something needs to be done. They tried to get me to trade it in...I cannot afford that! The date below is approximate, it was around then that I noticed, but it started making a noise when I opened/closed the door for about a week before I called dealership about the problem.

Front passenger door is coming apart - literally the inside structure is separating from the frame of the car. The driver door is automatically locking even when key fob is in the car. When rolling up windows- the Automatic windows continue to roll up and down without touching the buttons. Engine is puttering upon start up- low idling. The engine cuts out when pressing gas upon driving.

Driver side door is literally falling off. The hinge is broken and the dealer says although it is a known issue Ford will not cover it. I cannot open the door or else will not be able to close it again. It took two men to close it once it broke and I've been using the passenger side door to enter and exit. I have 2 small children. All electronics inside of door are now non-functioning. Dealer wants $3,000 to repair. Not sure how a non-functioning door is not a safety issue. There are times when you may have to exit a vehicle in an emergency situation (like when it's on fire, in an accident, etc.) not to mention when you're driving down the highway and the door flies off.

There has been a cracking noise when opening my passenger front door. Heard a POP and notice three small holes on the side of door. I can barely open my door and can’t let down the window. Called ford and of course the famous line, “Since your car is not under warranty, we cannot fix the problem.” Shouldn’t this problem be a recall? I’ve been researching and noticed many Ford Escapes are dealing with the same issue. I feel like I’m driving a Build-A-Car. Come on Ford you have to do better.

Driver's door when opening would make a clunking sound. After opening it a couple times door would not shut. Finally getting it to shut, the door now will not open all the way. Also since this happening the window on that door will not roll down. Safety issue is that I'm afraid the door won't stay closed or it may fall off. Also the gas cap light is on, always been a problem even when the cap door is completely closed.

I have already put in a complaint about the broken spots welds, I am now adding to that complaint. I had the window fixed but because the door is broken I cannot roll down the window. My door is now not locking so stays open even when engaging the locks. The electrical system is giving me errors telling me that there is no key detected and so the engine won't start right away. The radio screen blacks out and doesn't work right, won't keep my settings anymore. This all has been happening since my door broke. I am sick of this car. Casa Ford says that my door is not covered by my extended warranty, but my window was, which was broken because of the broken spot welds in the door. My 2020 SEL Ford Escape has faulty spot welds on the drivers side door hinge. All three spot welds have broken and has caused the door to make metal scraping noise and is hard to shut. The left-hand side on the door all automatically just stopped working properly. It makes a popping cracking noise when you open the door all the way. The car is a 2020 it is under 40,000 miles. It should be under warranty from Ford. It’s a mechanical issue. The door should open and close properly if I have never been in an accident. I have had many problems with this car since i bought it brand new such as getting new brakes at 1000 miles (they claim because the car was sitting there), a new reservoir because of the windshield wiper fluid was leaking, my headlamp needed to be fixed amongst other things. I feel like this car was a lemon that was sold to me.

I have extended warranty and contacted them, took it to the Ford dealership for inspection where it was determined the internal welds in door are broken, also causing problems with the electric window of that door. the window will only go down about an inch or so and the entire door needs to be replaced which is not covered under the warranty and I'm told it needs to go to a body shop to replace the door!

The door welds (arm check) have broken. I took it a ford dealer and have been told there is no recall. When I took it to a body shop, they told me all of the door welds are weak and need replacement. 2020 Ford Escape. Front driver door made a lot of creaking noise, hard to open and close, couldn't roll window down because hinge had broken was loose in door. Discussed with Mel Hamilton Ford, Wichita KS, while it was there getting another issue addressed. Said it was not covered under warranty. Just a couple thousand over 36,000. Door popping and creaking began before the 36,000 mile warranty had expired. It was in and out of shop to get another issued figured out. Took to Lubber Ford in Cheney KS and they said the weld was broken took hinge out of door. I took to a body shop, said it can't be fixed needs entire door replaced for $3000.00. Ford knows it's a problem, they offered to pay $1200 of a $3,000 fix. Ford needs to replace door at full cost since they issued a Technical Service Bulletin in Sept. 2021. My Escape was still under warranty and had been at the dealership many many times for other issues and no one mentioned the door problem until I had it at Lubbers.

Drivers door won’t close the spot welds are broken on check link mounting bracket

after dealing with the loud popping of my door for one day, now my window will not roll down and when i open and close my door there is no tension at all. making me believe that the entire inside of my door panel fell apart. it’s scary because i’m worried i may not be able to open or close my door soon, or that it will stop latching.

I have 41k miles so my basic warranty is not in play. Please let me know if there are other warranties that will cover this.

I have a bad weld on the driver's side door of my 2020 Titanium Escape and I am told this is a known issue. The window in the door doesn't work anymore and my door is basically falling off and from what I have read this can happen at any time even while driving. They say the door can fly open even while driving because of the bad weld. I have spoken with Ford and they will only pay a fraction of the bill. This requires a fix of a new door. They are expecting me to pay over $1300 for the repair and they will pay $980. To fix on my own is $3300. Why is there no recall. Do I have to get injured or die to be taken seriously??

I took it to the dealer garage. The conversation went along the lines, the door arm welds are bad and the garage mentioned they had 5 cars recently with the same problem. They said it was covered and then the door would have to be replaced. They (service dept) sent it over to the body shop stating it was too long of a job for service dept to do. I waited 2 weeks and went down to check on status. The body shop said it wasn't covered and it would be $2400 to replace the door. Contacted Ford about the letter that's supposedly to come out to owners with this problem 2020 escape and they know nothing about it. I reached out to another dealer in the area and they are very aware of problem with the escape door but they know nothing about Fords customer satisfaction program regarding the door. Very concerned the car door is unsafe.

On February 23,2024 the driver door started making very loud scraping and popping noises with physical resistance to opening or closing. The drivers power window started working very slowly like it was being dragged on, and then wouldn't go back up. Pushing on exposed window edge got it finally to go up and close. Over the next several days the noise and resistance has gotten worse. Found out NTSB has opened an investigation into this issue, and Ford has a service memo SSM 50150 as the cause is faulty spot welds on interior door anchors which can lead to door failure and unexpected opening. SO far Ford has not offered any help to repair this issue. I have filed a claim without result yet.

The passenger door hinge made a large noise and was unable to close without extreme force. It was a safety issue as the car function and hinge mechanism failed. The dealer turned me away as they do not "weld" and referred me to a body shop. Yes, my independent auto service stated that the Door Stay and Mounting Bracket three small welds broke off. They were unable to re attach door properly as they do not weld. They noted the drivers side door is also starting to loosen. This is another safety concern.

When opening driverside door, hinge broke making it difficult to close door securely. Had to have the hinge replaced.

The driver side door began making a terrible noise upon opening and closing. It would not close. The door eventually closed and the door weld for the hinge failed. The door does not operate properly and now the driver side window does not go down because the door hinge components are broken off inside the door and blocking the window from going down at all. Ford was contacted multiple times about the manufacturer failure and there is still NO Recall on the 2020 Escape AWD. They advised to wait for a letter from Ford allowing the fix. Ford has no information for when they will send letters to customers or dealers to fix the failed manufacturer weld component on the drivers side door.

Approximately a week ago we noticed a popping sound in our driver side door. You can see where the rivets have popped free from the sheet metal. This car is over its 3 year warranty by about one week. Yet, the dealer and Ford motor company do not want to do anything to replace our door. The passenger front door middle hinge broke from inside the door. There are numerous online articles of this happening and causing costly repairs of the entire door instead of just the hinge, which is Ford’s solution. Shortly after purchasing my 2020 Ford Escape my driver side window stopped working. Soon after my door hinges began to fail. I took this to several dealerships who said that the hinge was sagging leading to the electric within my door to have weight on it. The dealer inspected the issue, and claimed that they have seen many cars with the same defective door welds. They claimed the door would have to be replaced and repainted though this work hasn't been completed yet. According to the dealer though this is a safety issue and 100% a manufacturing defect that Ford is well aware of they are forcing customers to pay for the repairs. This has not been inspected by police or insurance since it is a manufacturing defect and not related to an accident. This has only been an issue for a day, but if an accident, injury or death results from the door flying open while driving I will contact the police, insurance, and get legal representation. No warning lamps or symptoms prior to failure. I opened and closed the door less than 5 times after the first odd noise to when all the door welds failed.

Drivers side inside door welds have broken loose at catch arm attachment. Related to Ford TSB SSM 50150. Car bought used 1/6/2024 but previously used as a rental in another state. Car has approximately 64,500 miles. Door failure occurred 1/19/2024. Bought from out of town dealer and inspected by local Ford dealer who verified issue. No prior signs leading up to the failure. Neither dealer agrees to repair without charge.

The welding on the driver side door broke for no reason. Since that time it has sprung open for no reason and almost hit another vehicle. It has also slammed shut several times and hit my leg as I have attempted to exit the car.

Approximately 1/4/2024 The front drivers side door is broken. The bolts broke off on the inside.I had no prior warning, I went to open my door and a huge clunk sound happened and it was difficult to open , there was friction ,opening it all the way is causing friction and I don’t want the door to fall off. Also it’s causing the automatic window not to work now , that only is opening half way . I took it to the dealer to assess the problem and it’s the left door asy , I looked this up online and it’s stating Ford is aware of this problem but still hasn’t issued a recall. 2020 Ford Escape has a broken spot weld in the drivers door. First the door would stick when opening and closing then it would not close. This cost us a tow to the dealership and from there to a collision shop. My warranty ran out on Feb. 27 this occurred in April on Easter Sunday. I contacted Ford support about the matter, several times, and wrote letters to the Ford Corporation because the cost of this repair should not fall on me this is a known problem to Ford. I have a copy of the paper work that Ford sent out to repair shops detailing the problem. This defect happened in the factory it was not caused by me. In order to close the driver's door I could only roll my window down a few inches. Every time I went to a drive through I had to open my door to do business, rain or shin and embarrassing. I asked the repair shop to help me with the window issue so they removed a part in the door. Now I have to hang on to the door when opening because it will fly open. This defect is a Ford defect and the consumer should not be held responsible. Since my car went to the shop they have had many others come in with same problem, if they are still under warranty door is paid for. But not mine! We even bought the EasyCare to cover future car trouble and guess what the inside of door not covered. I have notes and letters to show my attempt to get Ford to own up to their mistake They can afford it more than me.

I own a 2020 Ford Escape. While entering the vehicle through the driver's side door, the door made an abnormal popping sound while being opened. The passenger’s side front door also made the abnormal popping sound while being opened. I have been informed by my repair shop that the doors will need to be replaced. I took to my local dealership, Kindle Ford and they informed me that the vehicle is out of warranty as the mileage is at 40,000 miles.

Opened the driver's door and heard a crunching sound and the door could not be opened all the way. Along with that the rear back window would not close and the driver's window went up slowly. Went to the dealership and they say it is a known problem, but they don't have any recalls about them so out of pocket it would cost me upwards of 2000 for the window regulators and 5,000 to replace the door which is a known problem.

Heard a cracking or popping when opening or closing front driver side door. Took our 2020 Ford Escape to Authorized Ford Dealership for routine service. While the vehicle was at the dealership we were told that the front drivers door would not close shut. The technician managed to "jimmy rig" the door to get it to close. The door temporary closes but now the drivers window will not operate. Was instructed to take the vehicle to the dealership owner's body shop but due to the mileage on the vehicle it was not recovered under warranty. At the body shop we were asked if the car had been in an accident or if a strong wind had blown on the door. Neither applied. The car has not been in a single accident nor a strong wind pulled or pushed on the door. Was told that we would incur a cost of nearly $3,000, because the whole door would need to be replaced. Was told again that this was not covered by factory warranty. On the estimate from the body shop they listed "t-boned" as reason for damage. We reached out to our extended warranty and they wanted to talk to the body shop but the body shop refuses to work with the warranty company and only speak with our auto insurance. We are in the process of looking for another body shop that might reach out to the warranty company to see if there is any chance this is covered. We contacted Ford Motor Company Customer Service and was told that there is not a recall on the defect and there was nothing they could do. Research on the internet shows that this is not an isolated incident as it relates to the 2020 Ford Escape.

Door hinge broke and caused window motor to fail

The weld on my driver door has completely come loose. The only repair is to replace the whole door.

My driver's side door suddenly made a loud cracking/popping noise when I opened it and then was a little difficult to close. Later when I opened my driver's side window it got stuck and wouldn't go up or down. I took it to my mechanic who said the door hinge had broken free from the body of the car. I then took it to the local Ford dealership who confirmed this is the case and also mentioned this was the second 2020 Ford Escape to be brought in that day for the exact same problem. They were unable to fix it at the dealership and said I need to go to an auto body repair shop to have a new hinge welded back on. Upon doing a little research I discovered that this is a very common problem with this year/make of vehicle.

7/31/23 Used 2020 Ford Escape was bought at Cecil Atkission Motors, it was deemed "fully functional, no present issues." 08/02/23 Tire issues, dealership inspected and found 2 screws in driver tire/failed alignment test. Also suddenly found oil pan and left axle seal leaking. Seal leaking and replaced. Front axle leaking. 12/08/23 Took Ford Escape to Ford Dealership due to broken popping driver door. Vibration while driving 70mph, inspected and the cause of it is front suspension and uneven tires given by Cecil Atkission Motors. Found oil leak again front cover and oil pan, leak on crank shaft rear main seal. Trans and engine dye found between. Rear seal leaking. Rattle noise at cold start, coming from turbo. Misfire at 2 and 3 cylinders. Blindside spot doesn't detect cars next to car. Due to the driver door being broken and unable to open it poses a safety hazard if car caught on fire or if an accident, unable to escape. Being a 2020-year vehicle, this should not be happening early on. All issues mentioned above are hazardous to my safety and others, including children.

Drivers front door started making popping noises. Called Ford dealer where car purchased and they said it just need hinges sprayed with WD40. I did and no change. Went to local mechanic and when I opened the door to show him it popped but then wouldn’t close. He said the welded holder for metal rod broke. Took off door panel to get it to close and now I have car with no door function, door opener, window opener, and door interior panel now in my back seat. Dealer won’t look at for 3 weeks.

The Spot Weld on the Driver side door is broke. based on information read this is an issue on this vehicle where the hinge breaks where the spot weld is suppose to hold. My driver side door starting making cracking sounds when opening and closing then would not close. Got the door to close finally and took to Ford. They said it was something to do with the welds on the door. They originally told me that I would have to pay to have it fixed. It must be slammed to get it to close. The window in that door is twisting in the track so it can't be used. Dealer (Blackwell Ford) identified problem but claimed dealer not responsible and vehicle is out of warranty. (26124 miles on vehicle after1-1/ 2-years of covid shut down.) My drivers door will only open about 6 inches. I have to crawl across the console to drive. I took it to ford dealer who said it was a ford issue but I was a few months beyond my 36 month warrenty so it wasn't covered. He also said not to roll down the window or it might shatter.

The welds have pulled out of my left drivers door check arm. My car has just 45,000 miles, just purchased 60 days ago. Now they want $2600+ to repair. I see many many many complaints about this issue. Add me to the list. This is ridiculous! It’s not like I had anything to do with the welds not holding!

The driver side door is getting a "popping" and "grinding" sound everytime the door is opened or closed. Upon investigation, the metal lever has become unwelded to the door. All 3 weld spaces are detached from the door. In addition, the window on the driver side is not air tight and is intermittently stopped working. I am very concerned that because of the unwelded parts may cause the door to weaken and possibly fall off my vehicle while driving which could cause a serious accident or even death if driving on a highway.

On 12/6/23, hinge on driver's side door broke. Piece is lodged in the door and window cannot go down. On 12/13/23, car was inspected at Ford dealership. Service Department confirmed hinge broke. According to Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) - SSM 50150, "certain 2020-2021 Escape vehicles may exhibit cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly." According to NHTSA site, "appropriate repair for this condition is the replacement of the door assembly and door check arm." Dealership quoted repair cost at $2,427.75. If car was under warrant the expense would be covered. Due to the car having 39,000 and the warrant expiring at 36,000, Ford is only willing to cover $1,000. I will need to pay $1,427.75 out of pocket.

There is a spot weld failure inside my driver side door resulting in the doors hinge being broken inside the door. The door does not open all the way and it makes loud cracking noises. Also, the door will not always latch close properly and can open suddenly without touching it. I cannot roll down my window all the way. I need to crawl through the passenger side door and up over the console to get in my vehicle each time I use it. I am concerned for myself and my family that if heaven fobid we were in a car crash, that this unhinged door would not provide us with the means to keep us safe. The only fix that I have been offered from Ford Motor Company is to replace the entire door, since the broken hinge is inside the door and cannot be fixed. This will cost my famiy roughly $4000. Driver side door suddenly began making loud creaking and popping noise when opening and closing. The driver side window also will not let all the way down since the noises started. Took it to the Ford dealership advised it was the door check assembly that was broke and they order the part. Took it to a 3rd party to have it put on and they advised that there was a failure with the spot welds in the check arm bracket on the the front door. Bracket has pulled out of the front driver's side door. Also advised this is why the window will only let down a little bit. Call the dealership and they advised that the door panel was not taken off so they would of not been able to see the spot welds provided Ford Company# called and stated that they was not a warranty on the vehicle and that there was nothing they could do at this time and provided case# CXH01214372. The cheapest estimate I have received so far to fix this issue is approximately 2,200.00 which I do not have please issue a recall on this issue

Upon further investigating from my local repair shop he helped me look up the problem. It is SSM 50150 -Cracked or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. I have a major concern with safety on this issue. How do I get Ford to correct this issue?

Drivers door making noises. I was given the option WHOLE new door- total cost $2900 - I have to pay $1635 for NEW door which by the way will not match my car color as car 3 - 4 years old! SSM 51553. My vehicle has a known problem with the left front door that has been reported by many other car owners. It presents with a cracked or broken spot weld in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the vehicle assembly. The wider is also impacted as it will only open approximately 5 inches. A door assembly replacement at the cost of $2100 has been recommended. I contacted Ford and was initially told that they would assist with replacement costs. After two weeks, we were told that we could save paperwork in case a recall was made on this part but there was nothing else they could do to help.

ISSUE: Left front door (driver's door) door check spot welds broke free from the door frame making it impossible to close the door without damage. Issue presented itself as a loud popping sound approximately 36 hours prior to weld failure. Until weld failure, I was unsure what the issue was, and was unable to visit a dealership due to time constraints. Door was operated with caution after the issue was discovered, and I figured that something had just popped out of place and would look at it over the weekend and/or schedule a service visit with the local dealer. I was not expecting factory welds to break. The component has not yet been inspected by the dealership or other parties. SAFETY CONCERN: Lack of a functional door check may allow the door to forcefully swing closed while the driver is entering/exiting the vehicle, causing injury. The door may also swing outward uncontrolled in which multiple injury or damage outcomes are possible. The breaking of the welds also caused the check arm to be stuck in the extended position, preventing the door from being able to close. To allow closure of the door without additional damage, bolts and nuts securing the check arm to the door frame and bracket were removed, allowing insertion of the door check assembly into the door body.

The door spot welds on the driver door were not welded properly causing the door to fall apart from the inside. The door and window are now both broken.

Driver door (left front to be clear, yes, I know it should be obvious) started making strange sound. Popping/dragging noises when opened and shut. Window sometimes gets stuck going down past about 1/4 of the way down. Now door will not fully open - goes abut 40% open and stops.

For at least a year or better, I noticed a creaking noise in the driver side door. Then on November 14th while doing my first time doing meals on wheels delivery, the door sounded as if it was going to fall off. We drove to Horn Ford Dealership in Brillion where the car was purchased and had them look at it. There was mention that they had repaired a couple of other Ford Escapes with the same issue. We scheduled an appt. for repair. We used the SUV very limited after that visit and only opened the door far enough to enter inside. The loud creak stopped before the appt. on 12/4, but the power window also would not fully open. During this time, I also contacted Ford Motor Company to file a claim, since the SUV was just out of warranty. They worked with our dealership Horn Ford and agreed to pay 40% of the cost. Today, 12/5/2023 we received our vehicle back and all is working well including the window. I also discovered that a resident in our village had the same problem. I felt this was worth reporting. I have owned many Fords and it would appear this was a defect from the Factory due to a bad weld on the door. Unfortunately, the vehicle was just out of warranty and I regret not saying something sooner, although, I don't think the dealership would have done anything about a creak in the door, especially since it was occurring when the door was fully open, until the day of November 14th.

Right front passenger door weld has failed as confirmed by Ford dealership. Car has 84,000 miles on it and is not eligible for warranty. Ford does not do body work and suggested it be taken to a body shop. Took to a body shop and they confirmed the weld has failed. Door can hardly be opened and when it does it sounds like broken metal from within. Cost to fix it was $1200. Found this out in October 2023. To date Ford has issued no recall even though there has been well over 300,000 complaints. Is there anyway we can do?

The driver's door hinge welds broke. Vehicle is available for inspection and do to the nature of the problem I am afraid that the door may fall off. The door and hinge piece need to be replaced to fix this issue. I called the Dealer, and they are aware of the issue but seem to not be willing to get this fixed without charging me due to me being 2 months outside of the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Driver side door malfunctioning. Popping when opening and closing

The door hinge on the driver's side failed. The 3 weld joints broke off. At times the door will not shut and latch properly, and the driver's window cannot be lowered. The dealer I took the vehicle to informed me that this is a recurring problem with the 2020 Ford Escape. They have had many people with the same problem. Ford refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem.

Drivers door Check Arm has broken from door because of faulty spot welds from factory. You no longer have control of door when opening and door can swing open to full opening and out of control. This problem was confirmed by Fred Beans Ford in Boyertown PA. Apparently according to dealership this is an ongoing issue and Ford Refuses to recall or fix if out of warranty. They advised me that the welds failed on the door and now the car needs a new door and latch that will take at least a week to complete repairs. My car has only 32,000 miles so it's fairly new. I fear that the door will eventually give out on me and not close properly.

Driver's side door hinge has failed. Per staff at two separate dealerships, a "cup" or where the end of hinge attaches within the door has broken loose due to failed spot welds. Staff at both dealerships claim this is a common occurrence. Ford refuses to participate in the repair even though staff indicates it should be a recall event. Concerned door hinge will either jam thereby not allowing ingress / egress or will shatter window as parts appear to be moving inside body of door.

Drivers Side door Welds broke inside door. And door doesn't lock. Door check broke and window goes down less than half way. Bought it in 2021 with 14, 000 miles now has 30,000 Went to my dealership and they said Ford would give me 1000.00 towards repairs leaving me with a balance of 1500. This should be a recall.

About 3 weeks ago now I opened my driver door and heard a loud cranking followed by a poo, the arm bar weld on the door just broke, had to shut the door from the outside and as a result I don't have control over my driver side window and all the power locks in the vehicle are shot. In addition to this my electrical is going crazy, I have the dash lights set to off but when I remove key or open door all the lights come on and I have to click the button back and forth to get the lights to shut off. This has resulted in a dead battery once for not catching it acting up. I'm extremely concerned about the safety on this vehicle I have had it less then 3 years and it's had several recalled issues fixed already. I can't afford a whole new door so please recall this spot weld!!

The spot welds on the interior door assembly for the check arm broke off. Causing damage to my power window motor. And many other components. Car is at 50,000 miles. Not high wear. The welds are poorly done and ford is making me buy a new door as a result of their error.

Out of nowhere my front driver side door started making this awful, loud clanking sound whenever I would open or close it. Took it to the mechanic I usually go to and they said that the "door check broke off the door because the spot weld failed" and that I would have to call a Body Shop. Called the dealership and they said that it is a well known and well documented issue with the year, make and model of my vehicle (2020 Ford Escape), but so sorry I would have to pay appr. $2600 to replace the door.

Door stop on both the driver side as well as the passenger side have broke off making it hard to actually open and close the door. As of 11/16/2023 the window is also stuck due to the door stop damaging the motor. After searching the Internet this is a very widespread issue when I took it to the dealership they said since it was out of warranty it wouldn't be covered. I don't believe this is anything but bad workmanship because the weld apparently breaks as low as 8000 miles. Well within the warranty period.

My driver door started making a loud cranking sound out of the blue when opening and closing the door. After several days, it became clear that the door hinge/catch was no longer secured and was loose. This was not the result of a gist of wind forcefully blowing the door open or something like that; it just broke on its own. Now the door swings wildly when opening and the window won’t roll all the way down. My vehicle was just a few months out of warranty so Ford won’t offer any assistance for fixing the problem. I have not yet repaired it because they say the whole door needs to be replaced and, at this time, I can’t afford the expense.

I have only had my car for three years and it is well taken care of, but the door suddenly started popping. The same day, my door became difficult to open and extremely hard to close once I got it open. I contacted Ford Corporate the next day. I was told my car was out of warranty because I have 38981 miles. The only thing that was covered under the 5 year warranty in regards to safety would be the seat belts and the airbags. I said, "Ford doesn't think that the car door being able to open or close in the case of an emergency is a safety issue?!?" The chat operator said she could open a case for Ford to review the issue. I asked her if that meant Ford would help with my door and she said no. They gave me case number CAS-46112899-L1F3M7 for my records. I asked how to track that case number to see Ford's response - but of course there is no way to track or check the status - making that case number useless for me. I took my car to Thoroughbred Ford to see if it could be covered under warranty and if they could also fix my radio which is now magically malfunctioning after the 3 year warranty lapsed, they told me I had to pay $155 EACH to have them to diagnose the door and radio problem before they could even give me a cost. Then I was told Ford had a TSB regarding the issue - so correction - it would be covered by Ford and the door has be replaced. I was happy - but not for long. They came back and apologize and said, no that TSB was just for rust and corrosion - they will cover that but not the popping door even though they admittedly were aware that this was a known issue. Then I was told no doors are available, so they can't quote me until it comes in so they will call me. So I look stupid in my car when I get in or out because I open just barely, turn to the side, slide in and then pray I can get it closed. Found out the window now doesn't want to come down because that door is messed up - so I could not even crawl out the window in an emergency.

My driver side door began making a grinding/creaking noise when opening. It was rather alarming as it was loud and extremly noticibale everytime I would open AND close my door. At one point, I had opened my door while doing errands and I could not actually push the door closed without some physical force. Now the door makes a more hollow creaking sound while closing and opening the door. Recently, my driver side window has since malfunctioned (does not go down). I can push the button for it to go down, but it only moves two inches before it stops completly. I use my vvehcile to communte to and from work and to transport my children to school and back. This safety concern is alarming as the safety of myself is at risk if ever in an accident, potentially not being able to open the door or even the door unlatching while driving at highway speed of 120kms. I have voiced my concerns to my FORD dealership but due to not purchasing extended warranty at time of purchase, It is not covered and recommened to take to an autobody shop for servicing. The technician noted "it can be quiet expensive". There are no warning lights.

I drive to Florida, and make lots of long highway trips in my retirement so these are mainly highway miles. I'd like to take the car again to Florida in January with my wife, daughter and two grandchildren but I can't do that with the door like it is. On the 19th of September, 2023 I took my 2020 Ford Escape SE FWD 4-door, 3.1 into Zeck Ford, 4501 4th Trafficway, Leavenworth 66048 to have my driver’s door fixed that was making the Snaping, Popping and Snaping sounds. Also, the driver’s door window would not roll-up or roll-down. Escape vehicles exhibit cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly and the cost was $2,515.94 to repair my Escape by replacing the whole driver’s door.

Now there is very little sound, but the door occasionally resists closing completely. Took it in, and was told a piece inside had popped away from the door. They said it would require body work, but the warranty had run out to cover it. They will reach out to Ford for assistance. They stated that Ford has been "really good" about covering the repair, but could take up to 3 weeks to hear back from Ford. I was told it was ok to keep driving it in this condition, but to not roll the window down. Several articles I've found indicate this is a known problem, and that there's a possibility the door could open while driving. Please push Ford to issue a recall! This is very dangerous!

The driver door began making a loud popping noise when I would open and close it. About a week after I noticed the popping sound, the driver door wouldn’t close. Upon further inspection I realized that the spot welds on the door assembly bracket have broken. I had to position it carefully so that I could close my door all the way. My driver side window will only go down about 4 inches now. There were no lights indicating any issues with my door. If I open my door all the way then it won’t close again, the broken door assembly bracket prevents it from closing. As it is a Sunday morning, I have not had this issue inspected at the dealership yet, but I plan to call first thing in the morning to have it looked at.

The drivers door made a loud pop when opening and it is now difficult to close and to open. it scrapes and pops out of place along the hinge and on the inside of the door. at one time it was not shutting at all. Hopefully it will not do this again, but something is broken. I was travelling when this happened with a passenger in my car and if m y door would not have shut at all i was far away from home and it would have been a huge inconvenience! I took my car to the dealer i bought it from in my town and he took a video of the noise it makes and the difficulty shutting and opening. He then called me the next day after talking to the techs that they are aware of this happening to some of the Escapes and i will have to seek a private shop to get a new door as he says this is not covered under warranty. This is preposterous and i cannot believe there is not a recall on this issue after i have read about this issue online and it is happening often. There was no warning, just a pop and immediately problems getting the door open and closed.

I had a week of squeaking from my door, which I figured it come from the 3 digit high temperatures. The week afterwards I was headed to my car to leave out and my door wouldn't shut all the way and had a loud pop sound everytime I opened the door. My vehicle has never been hit and the research I did made me realize I am not the only one with this issue. It is a safety concern and Ford should consider this as a recall.

On Sept.3, 2023 I went to my car and opened the driver's door, there was a creaking sound I never heard before, I thought someone had hit it in the parking lot but there was zero damage to the outside of the door. As I opened and closed it a few times, the sound got worse and after a few times, it hardly closed. When I went to shut it, I had to almost force it to close. This is a problem, and it came out of, nowhere. It is certainly a safety concern. On the morning of Sept. 4, 2023 I had my boyfriend look at it and he could see where the problem is, it's the hinge area on the driver's side towards the front of the door, where it attaches to the car.

The driver's side door made popping or cracking noises when opening and closing. It eventually locked in place while open, and it could not be closed. I took it to the dealer where they initially said that the check strap needed to be replaced. After the part arrived and they disassembled the door, it was discovered that the welds on the component that holds the check strap in place were broken. The car was moved to the body/collision shop for further assessment. In the meantime, I've discovered this has happened with several other 2020 Escapes, but there is no recall as of yet. Obviously, this is a manufacturer defect that needs to be addressed in a more global and urgent manner.

In October of 2022 my welding to my door came apart on the driver door. It started and continues to make a really loud popping noise whenever it’s opened. Since then, my window has not been able to roll down either. When I’m driving the door will open on its own randomly and it’s extremely dangerous. I’ve taken this matter up with ford multiple times and they refuse to address it or fix it without me paying out of pocket.

Front drivers side door making a popping sound upon opening and closing a quick google search confirmed there was a issue with the cheap spot welds holding door check bracket on most people are reporting them breaking and window becoming inoperable won’t go up or down and with ford charging 3500 to fix the issue with the same part and only 3 spot welds holding in place as a commercial truck driver seeing car crashes on a daily basis and have seen multiple people have to climb out of the window of the cars, (hello ford) people could very well be trapped inside a vehicle due to cheap manufacturing and you not fixing the issue talked to 2 different ford dealers in my area and both brushed it off like it’s a common thing “todd Judy ford stated we repaired 4 or so in the last month “ called ford directly and the only information they could offer was there is no recall the vehicle my wife drives is a 2020 ford escape with 41000 miles I find it amazing how a structural issue of the door isn’t covered past that point.

The door started popping every time I opened or closed the door. Then three days later the spot welds near the hinges fell apart and the door wouldn’t close all the way. According to the dealership where I bought it I am like the third or fourth this month to come in with this complaint. Ford’s recommendation is to replace the entire door. It’s like over $2000 repair. it’s a safety issue due to the fact that the door first of all wouldn’t close and the only way to fix it was to drill some screws into the door as a temporary fixed at least get it to the dealership. Ford also told me that only the drivers side door is covered under the warranty to replace the door. The others are not and the chalk it up to “overextending” the door. I also found online that when others have taken a look at the cars the hinge is what is breaking and putting strain on the door and putting the full weight on the actual spot where it connects to the door. A it is not just mine that is doing this a friends Ford TransAm is doing the same thing! I worry that the door will come flying off while driving or I won’t be able to get it closed one day while out and about and I have a newborn right now that is scary! Also I am out of warranty and have to now pay out of pocket to have it fixed!

The driver's side door makes a popping/cracking noise when opening. Check arm/hinge seems to have failed and the door is not only making noise but the door assembly is pulling apart. The window now does not go all the way down. The vehicle is available for inspection. The door does not properly open or close properly and at times has to be double checked when in the vehicle to make sure it is closed all the way. This is not safe for travel. The vehicle was brought to the dealership and they said they would have to take it to the body shop in order to inspect it. Estimate of charges for repairs is $3,000 - repair would require a new door (both panels), hinges, and paint along with labor. There were zero warnings prior to the failure. The door just makes noise (popping or cracking) when opening and closing.

My Escape has just over 41,000 miles. Very well taken care of and after sitting in a personal garage, while on vacation, I opened drivers side door and LOUD popping noise began when opening or closing. I took to dealership where I lease from and was informed door stop is broken and only way to fixe is total door replacement. This would need to be at my own cost, I REFUSE TO PAY SINCE I DID NOTHING TO IT, and I exchange in 7 months. This is freaking ridiculous. I can now not use my window and literally am anxious to use my only care to get to and from work. They need to fix!!

The sound was quiet at first, like I wasn't even sure I heard it right, then it got really loud and stopped altogether and my window wouldn't roll down properly. The sound only lasted a week or two fron when it started to when it stopped. I took it to the Ford dealership where I bought it, and they told me the door check became UNWELDED inside the door.

Driver side door is making a clanking noise when opening and closing. I also had difficulty closing and keeping the door closed. The window will not open more than 6 inches. Door hinge or door stop on the interior of the door has some welding part that my mechanic says has broken within the door's frame. My driver door hinge has come apart from door due to welding, which has impacted my window from going down and although i lock the doors they are still able to come unlock by pulling door handle which leaves my car vunerable to vandelism or theft. i made an appointment and got the first date available. My vehicle is a lease and out of warranty although I paid for extra miles and after showing them all the data from NHTSA they want me to pay $450-$500 and be without a vehicle for a minimum of 4 days with a max of 5 without a loaner and for me to pay for a rental car on top of paying monthly note along with repair and rental which already has inflated rates. They need to fix and have a recall. This is dangerous and can be costly considering your car door is unlock in the "lock position".

The door limiter is ripped free of its mounting [inside the door] and makes keeping the door closed and/or opening it impossible at times. In addition, the broken pieces in the door damaged the window regulator, making egress through the window equally impossible. Our safety is put at risk due to the possibility of the door opening while driving as well as the safety of oncoming traffic. Both Ford dealer and independent body shop confirmed that they have seen this problem on many other Ford vehicles, and the only remedy is a complete door replacement. Prior to door failure, there was a lot of creaking and difficulty closing the door. When we first bought the car [new], the door was not closing correctly, and the dealer claimed that the weatherstripping was the issue. Now that the car is OUT of warranty, Dealer mechanic confirmed this door limiter breaking from the spot welds is a common occurance, yet not yet under recall for my VIN number.

Driver's door hinge limit opening check-arm mechanism failure. First awareness when popping noise occurred when opening and closing the door. Internet search found this and related hinge failure experiences by many other Escape owners. The factory welds attaching the mechanism housing to the interior of the door body are failing. Ford has not made a recall. While this is a primary vehicle function, our car is slightly out of warranty and the Indianapolis Skillman Ford dealer offered no help after presenting the vehicle in-person as soon as the problem occurred. Our check arm has not completely failed. Complete failure reports include interference with power window operation and inability to safely open and close the door. We contacted Ford Motor Company direct; the person on the phone checked and said there was no recall and no assistance due to our vehicle being past warranty but they did create a case#: SSM 51553.

Door welds have broken and door arm is not attached to door any longer. Door has been inspected by Ford and are unwilling to fix due to it being weeks out of warranty.

Driver’s door started to make a loud popping sound. Found that weld spots on the door had failed. Local dealer removed the door check so now the sound is gone but need to be careful opening door in the wind. They have quoted $2,235 to replace the door! Already charged me $52 to remove the door check. I don’t feel safe driving this car being unsure if the door will stay latched. I hope there is a recall by Ford to fix this problem.

My front drivers door started squeaking and yesterday it started making this crunching noise. I noticed that I have three holes on the inside front door panel where the hinges are. I was told by a mechanic that the door check arm on the interior of the door the weld did not hold and that was the noise I was hearing it braking. I can not open my door all the way and it gets stuck open sometimes. I called Ford and because my car is 2800 miles over warranty they will do nothing. Upon investigation I have found you have an investigation into this problem SSM 50150. I have a Ford 2020 Escape. How is it that the weld on a 3 year old car breaks? I have not had it repaired because of the cost involved. I feel this should be escalated to a recall.

Door mechanical issue could become a future safety issue where failed/poor spot welds on a doors check arm bracket could cause the door to swing too far when opened or it could open while driving because of the spot weld failure. Current popping sound when opening and closing the door indicates spot welds on the check arm bracket, internal to the door, have failed, making the door difficult to open and close. A secondary failure is the inability to open and close the window.

The component or system that is failing/malfunctioning is the opening and closing of the driver side door. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. My safety/the safety of others are put at risk should the door opens during driving or at any time without a physical being opening it. No, the problem hasn’t been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center not to my knowledge. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives but has been inspected by myself and others. No, there was not any warning lamps, or messages of the problem prior to the failure. However, there was other symptoms which included a mild sounding popping noise coming from the driver door when opening it to enter and exit the vehicle. This first appeared about two days prior to the component or system complete failure/malfunction.

Driver's side door not closing completely, making loud cracking noise. Unable to roll window down. Door not closing completely is a safety hazard while traveling, concerned the door might open while moving. Because the door isn't closing all the way, it's messing up the electronics as well. The door welds where the bracket attaches has come detached.

Drivers side check arm broke resulting in 3 rivet joints to break where it’s attached to the inside door skin. SSM 50150 for fleet vehicles addresses this. This was purchased from Enterprise. Was told a new door skin was required along with the check arm replacement. Over $1200. This should be a recall.

The front left drivers door check guide bracket spot welds have separated from the door frame resulting in the door not opening and closing properly,the window will not roll down or up with the door closed .The door can only open about half way and doesn't shut properly without using unexcusable force .The spot-welds are clearly broken because there are 3 holes in the door where the door check mounting bracket is spot welded to the door shell .If I need to get in or out of the vehicle very fast in an emergency,the door may not open enough for me to get in or out or may not even open at all.If I need to roll down the window with the door shut in an emergency situation I will not be able to,I would have to break the window to escape danger.Ford needs to be responsible for fixing this problem that is clearly a manufacturing defect .A recall by Ford is due immediately to fix this dangerous issue.

My check arm broke at the welding sites and has now affected my locks, window, and the door staying open/shut. I am worried about my window shattering and my door not closing or opening while I am driving. My locks are no longer working which leaves me to be worried about someone getting into my car, since there is not way for me to lock my door. They don’t even work with the key fob. The outside manual lock will not turn. The problem was confirmed by the dealership Ken Stoepel Ford In Kerrville, TX. But they will not fix it because it is out of warranty due to mileage. There was no warning of this. I was parked when it happened. I simply opened my door to get in and it snapped.

In February 2023, we noticed a popping/ snapping sound coming from the driver's door and it would not stay open on its own. Over the next couple weeks the power window began having trouble staying up and then it simply would not stay up at all. In March I took it to the dealership it was purchased from and had it looked it. After a couple hours I was told that the spot welds had failed and that the only way to fix it was to replace the entire door at my expense (approx $2k). The gentleman in charge told me it was not the first he had seen with this issue and if I got it repaired anywhere to keep my receipt for any issues recalls. The only solution I had was to have my husband get the window into place and disconnect the electrical to the window buttons. I have also had to deal with many bruises on my legs due to the door randomly closing on me while getting in and out. I'm disabled and this is a major problem for me. I have personally inspected the door and there are three holes next to the interior door panel that I believe are the location of some of the broken welds.

The door check bracket on front driver door failed completely. The anchor point in the door broke off the door frame internally. All 6 tack welds failed. The door was stuck open with the check arm fully extended into the door. DeLong Ford of Dwight got me back on the road after removing the check arm. I drilled out the six failed tack welds and riveted the anchor to the door frame at the six points on driver door and replaced the check arm due to damage. I could not afford the almost $2k it would have cost to have the entire door shell replaced and painted, with no promise that I would not experience the failure again in the future. Ford offered to split that cost with me 50/50 because I purchased the vehicle brand new and was no longer in the warranty period. The door check is currently failing on the passenger front door, 2 of the 6 tack welds have failed. It is a matter of time before it fails completely.

Drivers door began popping when opened or being closed. Looked at door and the spot welds on door check attachment point were broken out. We had our local dealer inspect and were told that they were aware of several that were broken in our local area. They also stated one of the cars was sent to a local body shop and repaired. New door and door check. All was paid by Ford. A second came in not long after and they sent it in for repair (same dealer same body shop) and Ford will not pay(reimburse) dealer for completed repairs. Ford knows there is a problem. Apparently they don't want to fix it. I put screws in our door to temporarily fix the problem because we were afraid the check bracket could cut the wiring inside door or get hung up inside the door causing the door to be inoperable. Our car had about 68000 miles on it when it was first noticed.

Both ( Left and Right ) front door check strap attachment points have broken welds. This causes difficulty closing the doors and causes a loud auditable creaking noise when opening or closing the doors. Dealer attempted to fix issue by replacing the actual check strap on each side a total of 3 times before deciding it was a broken weld. By that time car was out of warranty and Ford declined to repair it at their expense. Estimate given by dealer to repair at my cost was over $3500, citing the need to replace both front doors.

On 7/11/2023, I opened my driver's side door and heard some strange popping sounds I had not heard before, my window would not work correctly either. I got into my Ford 2020 Escape and proceeded to drive home while driving approx 35 miles an hour while making a left turn the driver's side door flew open. The weld on the driver's side door has failed along it exhibits cracks and/or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. Please see attached photos. There was no warning that the door was not completely shut. The car has been looked at, at the dealership and they have assessed that the failure of the weld Section 501-03 is what caused the problem.

The welds on my door snapped, which is causing a grinding noise and preventing the window from opening. The dealership has told me that I need a new door for my vehicle. My vehicle has less than 30,000 miles.

At a little over 4,000 miles and less then a year in to owning my car the transmission went out. Now at at little over 36,000 and now the driver door isn't opening easily, and is making a popping noise. This shouldn't be happening with a car this new

In 2021, driver door popped and made grinding sounds when opening. Mechanism inside had broken. Door was replaced under warranty by the dealer, Boucher Ford. Fall 2022, same issue with the driver door. Also started noticing door wouldn't always close completely and intermittent problems with the electric window not remaining closed. Dealer would not help despite only one year since it had been replaced, told me to call Ford.

At 75,000 miles the door spot weld on the check arm bracket failed. The window also will not go down. We now have 85,000 miles and the passenger door spot welds failed.

I was getting out of my car and when I opened my door it sounded like someone had hit my car. I checked to see if there was any damages and there was none. After further investigation I noticed that the spot welds on the driver side door of my 2020 Ford Escape came loose and the door was starting to move freely inside the door. This causes the door to not be able to open all the way. I took my vehicle to the dealership and they kept it for weeks before they told me that I had to have my door replaced and it was going to be $4000. I even have an extended warranty but this part was not covered. There were no warning lights, messages, or anything. This happened at 59,600 miles. Last fall when I stopped at my in-laws and got out my drivers door made a popping sound and I proceeded to close it. When I came back out and got in and went to close it it sounded like a door out of the Addams family. Lot of creaking and grinding. Immediately called the Ford dealership and was told to bring it over first thing the next morning. After [XXX] looked at it he had guessed the spot welds had left go in the door. When he shown the flashlight in the door he said oh no I'm going to go get the body man. I think it has messed up your bracket also. [XXX] came out and immediately looked at it and said oh yeah the spot welds have popped and said it was messing up the bracket. [XXX] said I don't want it to leave we're going to take it right around to the body shop to get it fixed and he would see what he could do with Ford on the repair. We crawled back in the car to drive around the building to the body shop. [XXX] parked outside the door got out and went to shut the door and the bracket completely left go at that point and would not shut. They had to hang on to the door to keep it closed enough to get it in the building since it would not latch. That door was closed three times after the initial pop and then would not latch. That would have been a safety issue if I had been away from home and not at the dealership at the time of failure. Ford took care of the bulk of the bill but it still cost me $520.14 out of pocket for shoddy workmanship on Ford's part. On May 30th my driver's side door hinge broke and arm fell inside the door, my Ford dealership ordered new door, due to not being able to make repairs, still waiting on 1st door, then on June 27th the passenger front door did the same exact thing, only this time door would not close, had to go to dealership while my wife had to hold door because it was open, we are both elderly and this is dangerous . I contacted Ford relations and because I am barely over the 36,000 miles they said they cannot repair either of the doors..please help..there needs to be a recall under this. I see alot of people filing complaints. Look under SSM50150, THIS IS AN ONGOING, very dangerous problem. Ford needs to be responsible!! It is a flaw in manufacturing , how this happened to both doors within a month of each other..please help.

Drivers side door weld points in the hinge system failed causing the door to fall off the car. Door was repaired by FORD but we have had issues with same door and are not being taken care of.

The initial occurrence was on March 7, 2023. The door suddenly made very loud popping noises when opening and closing the drivers side front door. The window was inoperable because of the door malfunction. I took the vehicle to Borgman Ford on March 8, 2023. They acknowledged that they knew what the problem was and had seen quite a few Escapes with the same issue. My Escape was then scheduled for repair/replacement on March 13-15, 2023. This was a great expense to me.

While opening and closing left front door (driver door) making a popping noise which is now making it difficult to close and open the door. This opposes a safety if I’m not able to open my door when needed. A week and a half ago, as I opened my driver's side door on my 2020 Ford Escape, i heard a clunking and popping sound. As I examined closer, I noticed that the door hinge limiter was rattling and the hinge pin was moving, along with the sound. I took it to my nearest Ford dealer to get it investigated (Academy Ford, Laurel MD) and they determined that indeed, the welds for the door hinge had broken, ad that the broken part was bumping up against the window regulator, thus the sounds. There was a TSB for this from Ford, covering the same thing, for commercial trucks, but they had also seen this start to happen on Ford Escapes as well. Because I'm still under bumper-to-bumper warranty, my door will be replaced for free, but this car only has 18K miles on it, and it shouldn't be happening at all.

The Driver, left front, door has a bracket that makes a popping noise when the door is opened fully and when it is being closed. The vehicle has not been to a dealer yet for repair. We're in the process of making an appointment now.

Driver door spot welds where hinge attaches to the door has came loose and popping. It was interfering with the function of the window rolling up and down. We used screws to reattach because i was informed when I contacted dealer, they would not cover it because it was out of warranty. It doesnt interfere with the operation of the window now but it is still popping every time you open/close the door.

At about 30,000k miles, began to hear a creak/pop sound when opening and closing the front d/s door. This past weekend, at about 30,075 miles, there was a loud noise when opening and closing the door, and noted that 3 spot welds appear to have popped and pulled through the sheet metal. These held the safety 'check arm' in place inside the door. In researching the matter, I located that you already have this noted (SSM 50150) on vehicles with high usage profiles. I am a regular driver. This is NOT a fleet vehicle. I'm lucky in that the car is under warranty and will hopefully be repaired with zero costs, HOWEVER, this is nothing that any Ford Escape owner should have to deal with, at all, through the LIFE of the vehicle. Furthermore, the same spot welds and check arm apparatus appears to be used on the other car doors, so my guess is that this too can pose an issue. Ford should honor these repairs well beyond any bumper to bumper warranty period, as well as disclose IF the replacement door is using an improved weld or fastening system. ***!!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE because without the arm check functioning properly the door can fly into passing or oncoming traffic unexpectedly, causing injury to the driver of the Escape and/or any oncoming vehicle that slams into said failing door assembly which could result in the loss of control of their vehicle!!! *** My car is in the shop now where I hope this will be part of a covered claim to document. Apparently, I may have to wait months for new front door assembly.

The inside wheel boot fills with water and boot liner gets moldy causing breathing issues. It is apparently a known issue and Ford has no resolution. I also have a driver's side window that has issues since the day I bought and all the Ford dealership quick fixes has not resolved the issue. They reset the up/down of the windows and it keeps going out of alignment so that when then window is pushed up it overshoots the sensor and comes back down.

Driver door detached from body by normal opening the door. The window is unable to lower down and the door is unable to be opened and closed. It seemed the door was attached by three small welded spots which seemed unsecured due to the doors natural weight.

I am concerned that I will not be able to open or close, and if I cannot close my door I cannot put the car into gear so I am concerned that there will be multiple different opportunities to leave me stranded. I have pictures of both driver side and passenger side doors showing that the weld on the driver side door are all broken off. I cannot afford to fix this problem myself and also it is nothing that I have done to this vehicle to cause this problem.

Vehicles driver door check arm failed and it appears to have detached. A loud popping sound can be heard. Occurred at 64,500 miles. No collision and no inappropriate use.

Drivers door began making a clunking/popping/scratching noise when opening without incident or cause. Window will only roll down approximately 4 inches. No warning lamps or messages present. The noise and the metal on metal feeling when opening or closing is getting worse and the door is getting harder to close. I am worried it may fall off at anytime, or if it is repaired that it will be replaced with the same defective materials and will happen again at anytime. It may be inspected on request.

Spot welds broke off of the door limiter. Took it to ford while under warranty at 34,000mi and they could not fix due to mechanics strike. Came back after the strike and was told that since the vehicle is at 36,800 miles they would not cover it, even though they had info that I was there before the warranty ran out. They did remove the part so it would not break the glass but it left the door sagging and out of alignment.

At around 66,000, I opened the driver's side door and noticed a popping sound when the door opened wide. I investigated a bit and noticed the door welds were cracked. The workaround was to only open the driver's side door slightly when entering and exiting. Then the driver's side window began behaving erratically. It could lower slightly but then may roll back up or roll all the way down without human intervention. Then, if it was lowered, you may have to help guide the window back up to the top using the button and pulling the window upward. I do not know if this issue affects the integrity of the door, and if it is at risk of becoming dislodged. I took it to Ford who wanted to charge me to replace the door, which I have not yet done. There is a communication number and an NHTSA ID number, but so far Ford is not doing the right thing by having a recall for this defective engineering and safety issue. Driver side door will make a loud clank everytime you open the door as if it is coming off the hinge. The driver side window will no longer go down properly. The driver side door lock won't open with the key fab but the key only. I took it to ford to be fixed under warranty and they tried to say it wasn't their problem and it isn't covered. The inside run channel which holds the "check strap arm" on the driver-side door has broken loose from the welds. The door would barely open which is a potential safety concern should someone need to exit the vehicle quickly in an emergency. This is the same issue reported in SSM 50150. Ford should issue a recall as this is a widespread issue with this model as reported online by customers and in SSM 50150.

This is Clearly a FORD defective workmanship and repairs need to be covered by Ford.

The drivers side door hinge broke and the window no longer rolls down. When I took it to the dealership they told me the weld on the hinge broke, that it was not covered under warranty, and that I would need a whole new door. It is the middle hinge that stabilizes the door and stops the top two hinges from becoming damaged. My door is still functional (despite making a very loud popping noise when opening) but the first time it gets opened too hard or far the top or bottom hinge is going to bend. This will result in the door not being able to latch correctly or at all. If it does latch there is a chance it doesn't open if they hinges are bent. They did not diagnose the window. Upon looking online this is a common issue with 2020 Escapes. The part (hinge) did not fail; their weld did. My vehicle currently has 50,400 miles.

In March my driver’s side door starting popping or squeaking. I thought my door needed oil. I didn’t call the dealership because was going on vacation and was going to get it oiled when I returned since my car would just be in the garage. I came home mid April and it was much worse. I was finally able to get in and told it is SSM50150 and that the weld broke and my door needed replaced. My car turned 3 years old on April 11th ( under 31,000 miles), so since I was two weeks past my warranty, it wouldn’t be covered and would be about $3500 to fix. In addition, I tried to use my lift gate to put something in back a few days ago, and it went up and came slamming down nearly in my head. I rarely use the back and am not sure when I tried it last. I was told today that both motors for the lift gate needed to be replaced because one was badly corroded and the other was cracked. This car is not even 37 months old, not even 31,000 miles, and it needs a complete door replaced and 2 motors on the lift gate??? This is not right at all, and Ford said sorry, your warranty ended 2 weeks ago!

On 04/18/2023 around 8pm, I drove to a local Dollar General and parked my car. Once parked I opened my driver door to get out and heard a popping noise and the door felt weird when opening. I thought for a second something was caught in the door causing it to sound that way an cause difficulty opening. After looking and not seeing anything caught in the door I got out of the car and went into the store. Upon returning I opened my driver door to get in and the door felt stiff opening and you could hear the loud popping sound still. I got inside the vehicle and closed the driver door; however, closing the door was difficult. I called my mom, who works in a Ford dealership's service department, and told her what was happening while I drove home. I put her on speaker phone as I got out so she could hear the way the door sounded when opening and closing. She told me to stop using the vehicle until I could bring it into the dealership the next morning. When I brought the vehicle in I tried letting my window down during the drive and noticed that now my driver side window was having difficulty going up and down. My mileage at the the time was 37,482. My car has never been in a wreck or had any body damage occur. I purchased an extended warranty which will cover fixing the window now malfunctioning, but not the welding issues that has caused the door to not work properly. Upon researching on the internet this is a problem many Ford 2020 Escape owner's have experienced. Some have reported that the window issue is in direct correlation to the door hinge issue. It astounds me that if so many complaints have been made why is Ford not responding and aiding in getting these cars fixed?

Drivers side door will not shut due to spot welds failing which causes the door check assembly to come off the inside of the door.

The spot welds where the check arm bracket attaches at the left (driver's) door failed, causing the internal bracket to detach. Once the bracket was no longer attached to the door, any attempt to close the door was met with resistance. Instead of the check arm receding into the door, the act of closing was trying to have both the check arm and bracket recede into the door; the bracket was at risk of damaging the window mechanism. In order to close the door, I have cut the check arm and removed the bolt that attached it to the car; leaving the small portion of check arm with the bracket to drop in the door slightly. Failure of this part is a safety risk to the driver, as it holds the door open; any gust of wind or even gravity will close the door unexpectedly on a person trying to exit the vehicle. The part is currently available for inspection. I have brought it to the dealer and provided them with SSM 51050 that I found regarding the known issue. As it was out of warranty they suggested I see an auto body shop. Searches online yield many complaints and even videos showing the issue. There were no warning lights. Shortly before failure the door presented with a creaking sound; 3 additional closings and it failed.

The driverside door has been popping a little bit since we bought the vehicle in August of 2020. Today the popping got worse and you can see what looks to be spot welds broken behind where the door check is located.

I went to get in my car one day and my door was making a popping noise. I took a closer look and my door check strap unwelded from my car door.

My VIN 1FMCU0H64LUA76372 is not included in the recall 49399 but I have Warped Instrument Panel Upper Section panel upper section near the defrost grill on the passenger side Ford has tried to fix but said they did not have the correct parts, how they fixed it was not appropriate and was still warped. The instrument panel has become warped back to before the fix. Can this ID be updated to include additional VINS ? Driver side door hinge broke away from the frame and as a result you cannot open the drivers door nor can you roll down the window because of this I have to climb over into the passenger side to get out of the car...if I am in a wreck or the car catches on fire I cannot get out from the driver's side. If I am unconscious because of an accident , rescuers cannot get to me because of the door hinge..warranty will not pay for repair..this is a safety issue

I purchased this car brand new in July of 2020. In the Fall of 2022 the driver side door started making a popping sound when opening and closing and wouldn't close properly. At this point the window started not going down all the way. I took it in to the dealership and was told that the regulator would have to be replaced. They ordered the part and when it came in they replaced it but they discovered that the welds on the bracket holding the check strap to the inside of the door had come detached and the track had become bent and was actually keeping the window from going down. They said that it could not be repaired and the whole door would have to be replaced. To me this sounds like a factory defect and Ford should be responsible for 100% of this replacement. I was outside of my factory warranty so I would be out of pocket for the replacement. The service advisor reached out to Ford to ask what they could do. Ford offered to cover a portion of the expense but still left me with an out of pocket amount that I can't afford to pay. This car was barely 2 years old when this happened and this should not be happening under normal use. The dealership riveted the bracket back to the inside of the door and it's a temporary fix but the window still doesn't go down. It is a major inconvenience and I'm concerned if in an emergency I won't be able to get my window down. I'm paying good money for a new car and should not be having this issue. The driver door frame has a fracture spot weld on the inside of the door, causing the window to fail to move up or down as needed. The failure caused the door to make a lot of grinding and cranking sound while being opened out wide. Spot welds on the left front door check arm attachment to the car door broke. It is available for inspection. The door is no longer limited in motion and can fly open in an uncontrolled manner. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and SSM 50150 by NHTSA shows this is a known problem to the manufacturer, Ford. There was no warning or symptom prior to the failure.

The spot welds on the driver side door where the arm connects the door to the car broke. My window, locks, and side keypad now malfunction. In addition, my battery drains at night. I have taken my car to the dealership service center and body shop/collision center. My door will have to be replaced. There were no warning messages or symptoms prior to the spot welds breaking. NHTSA ID Number: 10201603/ SSM 50150 - 2020-2021 Ford Escape My vehicle is having this EXACT issue and there are many other Ford Escape owners that are having this issue and even with the manufacturer extended warranty it is not covered. This issue has obviously been reported with the reference number above and NHTSA PDF attached. fordescape.org/threads/door-limiting-rod.116354/page-2 has so many other Ford escape owners with the EXACT same problem. This IS a safety issue as the door can fail to open or close at any given time with the arm tack weld falling off and rendering the door not useable. Currently they are just tack welding the door back together which is also not acceptable. No warning just one day the door started popping and you could see that the (3) places the limiter arm was tack welded on were now open holes in the door. This also effected the use of my window, it would not go down more that 1/2 inch. They are also having to fix that issue as well. Not being able to enter or exit my vehicle from my drivers side door is not acceptable and the faulty construction of this car should not have to be paid for by the customers. The Ford 2020 Escape I own has already had recalls, caliper falling off the passenger side after 1 year, seals around windows and lights failing allowing water inside the door, and electrical issues. This car should be taken off the market and the road for safety issues. There is currently another recall pending for this specific vin manufacturer recall number 22S73 about the fuel injector developing a crack posing a fire issue. Please rush this into a recall for the owners of this car that are paying to own the car and now paying for faulty design and build issues.

The doors showed resistance while attempting to open the doors, making the doors difficult to completely open from the door frame. The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated that interior of the door frame had a fracture spot weld on the inside of the door, causing the window to fail to move up or down as needed. The failure caused the door to make a lot of grinding and cranking sound while being opened out wide. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the door either needed to be replaced or just the inner portion of the door needed to be repaired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed there was no warranty coverage or recall coverage on the vehicle. In late September, my rear driver's side window was being opened. It fell halfway and would not move up or down. I took it to the dealership for repair and they informed me that the regulator for that window had snapped and needed to be replaced. It took them roughly a month to find a replacement part. I finally picked up the repaired vehicle today. While talking to the service agent at the Ford dealership, he told me that in the past month, three other 2020 or newer Ford Escapes have come into this one small dealership with the exact same problem. For this reason, I think that this should be looked into. Four identical and newer cars needing the same repair from the same small dealership in a month is suspicious.

After hearing the sound for about a week I visited a local Ford dealer for guidance on where and how to address the noise. The dealership referred me to a collision shop after discovering (and breaking) the door. They acknowledged that the "door check" was inappropriately manufactured as they could see the "rivets" when the door was open; and it appears that the paneling had shifted. Their review of the issue left my door inoperable/and unable to close. They managed to get it to close but now the door check is completely inoperable and my door does not open safely - as the door check is no longer controlling the door opening and closing. Following this visit to a local dealership, I visited 2 collision centers and the dealership where I purchased my vehicle and all 3 locations indicated this is a "known mechanical issues" with 2020 Ford Escapes. The 2 collision centers had multiple Ford Escapes on their lot with the same issue. My car has 50K miles and I was told that Ford considers this part of the bumper to bumper warranty. That seems inappropriate and inaccurate (not to mention convenient for Ford). I am concerned that Ford is building cars with doors that only last 2 years.

Heard a large popping noise when open door driver side tack weld to hinge popped off holes in door

I came home from work last evening and when I opened my car door it sounded like it was falling off. I got my husband we looked at it and could see nothing. I call 5 Ford Dealerships because I have the premium warranty with 100,000 miles coverage. I was told what was wrong with my car the welds inside the door was broken and that it wasn't covered under the warranty and its about $3000 to fix the car. I was told not to roll my window down because it would likely break. I was also told that this is a problem with the Ford Escapes. All 5 dealerships know of this issue. I was told that the only thing my warranty covers is mechanical I told them that since I cannot use my window that makes it mechanical. It is also a safety issue because my window could break and I or someone in the back seat could be cut. I spoke with [XXX] a customer rep for Ford she told me she is working with others and that Ford would cover maybe 60% of the cost. Front Drivers Side Door makes a popping noise when opening and closing. Cannot open door all the way. Also, window will not roll up or down unless door is open. Took car to body shop place to find out the cause. According to them, spot welds on the door broke off. Concerned about damage to door and would not be able to get out of car through window if window is not able to be rolled down. Additionally, my research of the problem online has shown that this problem appears to be a common issue with the 2020 Ford Escape.

On/or about 8/23/22 the vehicle door jammed while trying to close the door and would not close. After several attempts to close the door it closed. Upon closer inspection of the door it was found that metal had fatigued and cracked around multiple welds on the door frame allowing the weld to separate that hold the door check and intrusion beam in place. In addition the door pops open when a rough section of roadway is encountered such as a railroad crossing. Ford is aware of the problem as they have issued a special service message covering the issue. Ford however refuses to repair this serious safety issue as the vehicle in question has more than 60,000 miles on it and is not eligible for standard warranty repair. Per Ford Motor company documents the entire door and check assemblies must be replaced to correct the problem. Ford's documents also indicate that all 2020 and 2021 Ford Escapes are effected by this defect which they are refusing to repair. As this defect could result in someone falling out of an effected vehicle or being injured as a result of the intrusion beam not being properly secured during a side collision the effected vehicles need to be taken off the road until Ford Motor Company replaces all of the doors that are made from steel that is subject to this fatigue failure problem.

Bought this brand new in April of 2021. Original owner. My problem is with the drivers side door. Every time I open it it makes a popping sound. No accidents or incidents. Seems like something is seriously wrong with the middle component. Now I have to barely open it just to squeeze through as I'm worried that it'll fall off. What's the deal? Overpriced vehicle . Many other problems but this one takes the cake 86000 highway miles mainly commute. But this isn't about the engine it's about the quality. Also vibration coming from the transmission, poor carpeting that receded right after I bought it, connectivity issues with my phone, and is a very uncomfortable drive. Ford has officially lost business.

Driver side door will not open from the inside and window will not go up or down. Also, doesn't seem to be locking properly. Took vehicle to the dealership and they said there is no recall on this issue and it needs to be taken to a Bodyshop to be corrected. This vehicle is a daily driver with very low milage. It hasn't been involved in any accidents or vandalism so insurance will not cover the fix and no recall. This need to be addressed ASAP.

1 - The spot weld in the door broke. Which is not allowing the window to go down which is also not allowing the car doors to lock. 2 - What if in an accident the window can not go down and that is my only option? What if we cant lock the door going through cities and stopping at lights? Secruiting of doors not locking is a issue. What if door does not hold and falls off? 3 - Yes to Ford Garage in the area 4 - Zero other issues. Like everyone else is reporting the same issue. Im not the only one. NHTSA is even putting a notice out about it. Why is this not covered by Ford? What other issues are wrong with the car if a spot weld broke? Faulty mechanics being used to build a car.

For no apparent reason, driver side door malfunctioned in mid-July 2022. Could not open all the way and power window struggled. Now door creaks and power window stuck in open position. Crest Ford dealer in Warren, MI claimed high winds or over extension. There was no high winds nor over extension. This is a manufacturer's defect. Crest Ford dealer stated I would be responsible for new door -- over $1,000. If I don't repair they are deducting the problem from my trade-in value.

Welds on the driver side door check mechanism broke. Unable to fully open door or use driver window. Vehicle was not in an accident and was for personal use only. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 37,152 and is less than 3 years old.

My vehicle is has the issues mentioned in NHTSA id#10201603. This is an issue where the spot welds have broken on the front left door check arm. Also the issue with the spot welds is causing issues with using my Drivers side window. My vehicle was taken to an authorized Ford Dealership. Was advised by the service department to seek advice from the body shop due to the welds being broken. Attached you will see the invoice I was charged for having my vehicle looked at. Representative from the body shop said my vehicle is the second Escape that has been brought in with the same issue. Provide rep the above mentioned NHTSA number and he said currently it is a service bulletin not a recall. Currently he is waiting to see what the next step will be in order to get my issued resolved. Called Ford to get there assistance with this and they advised me to reach out to NHTSA in regards to this issue. These issues started within the past couple weeks and I have owned the car since December of 2020.

Left Front Door will not open all the way. Only opens 1/4, and window only goes down half way.

In the early summer of 2021, I started to hear a snapping noise in the driver’s door. I thought it might be the hinge, but it appeared to be coming from the middle of the door. It got continually worse. When I put the window down it would come back up and catch my arm and then go back down. Eventually I was only opening the door a short distance so it would not snap. It made it very difficult to get in and out. So, for over 3 months I squeezed in and out of the car. I am concerned about the other 3 doors. In early September I contacted the dealer and was to take it on September 7th. But the door became worse suddenly and I could barely get out and at one point I was stuck in the car. I called the dealer immediately and asked to bring it to them that day. After some hesitation and my explaining if I was trapped in the car during an accident, they would be hearing from me. She said to bring it over immediately. The service manager, after inspecting the door, came out and asked me if I had been in an accident! I suggested he look at the car and check it thoroughly. It was obvious I had not been in an accident. He stated they had never seen anything like that before. They were taking pictures and I stated I wanted my own pictures. When I went into the shop and viewed the door, I was upset to find that all the welds on the bracket that holds the door check had failed. The bracket was down inside the door panel. Because it was catching it was making the snapping sound. When the window hit it, it would automatically go back up. They told me it would be necessary to contact Ford for more information and it would be a week or so before I heard anything. At 8:08am the following day, not one week, they called back and said they needed to order a new door, have it painted and replaced. That is the last I heard about the door. I have been in touch with Ford Corporate and discovered this is not the first time this has happened. I do have a case# with Ford.

Heard a popping sound and when opened the door it will not close. The tack welding broke off the door causing it not to close. Not under warranty.

DOOR WELDS BROKEN AT DOOR Check ARM MOUNTING POINT. NEEDS REPLACE DOOR.

My driver side front door started making this popping noise when I opened or closed the door and then within a week the black arm bracket/spot weld broke off the door. There is no damage to the door to cause this issue. It just happened randomly and the vehicle is under two years old. This shouldn’t be happening. I don’t feel safe driving this vehicle as I cannot even open it all the way for fear it will fall off or further damage whatever is going on inside the door. It’s affecting my window as well. It doesn’t roll down due to this hinge being broken. I do not know if it has affected any other safety features on the door.

The driver's side door hinge/arm broke and now swings wide open. I'm worried that the door will fly open while driving and don't think this should be happening on a 1 year old vehicle.

The liftgate has a mind of its own. It closes without warning and crashes on my head! I can't load anything without holding one hand over my head to catch the door as it closes unexpectedly on my head. Even a shadow causes the liftgate to close - if a child or an animal walks by. If you turn off the automatic liftgate feature you manually have to lift the gate and close it. It is very heavy to lift and close and not practical. It is way too sensitive and needs to be addressed before someone is seriously hurt.

The contact indicated that while retrieving groceries from the vehicle with the tailgate door raised the door suddenly began to close and hit the contact in the head causing a minor laceration. No medical treatment was required. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and no service was performed. The rear liftgate, while open (and while I was loading/unloading items), will randomly close on its own. It does signal it is about to through very low volume beeps but it has done this some 20 times randomly in the last week. Several days ago it closed on my head, taking off a slice of skin on my scalp, knocking me down face forward onto/into the rear bumper, injuring my face/upper lip as well. This is a known/documented issue on many vehicles via many Ford Escape forms, which suggest having the key fob in your pocket or on your person is the culprit and sends the car into a frenzy.

THE BULBS WERE LOCATED ABOVE THE HEADLAMP COVERS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STEVEN'S JERSEY CITY FORD 740 NJ-440, JERSEY CITY NEW JERSEY 07304 PHONE NUMBER (201)432-7272 TO BE INSPECTED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE HEADLAMPS AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURES WITH THE HEADLAMP COVERS. THE CONTACT ALSO FOUND THAT WATER PENETRATED THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR, AND DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PASSENGERS DOOR. THE DEALER REALIGNED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND DRIVER'S SIDE AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE DEALER REATTACHED THE DOORS METAL MOLDING. MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILAGE WAS 100,000.
