WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER KEPT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND IT WOULDN'T GO AS FELT LIKE YOU WANTED TO TURN OFF IT WOULD STALL WE HAVE CHECKED EVERYTHING IN THE TRUCK ENGINE EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING SEEMS GOOD TRANSMISSION DOES NOT HAVE ANY METAL SHAVINGS I DID NOTICE THAT FOR SOME REASON THE ELECTRICAL PANEL HAVE MELTED IT WAS ALL COMPLETELY MELTED AND THEY BELIEVE THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO MELTED AND STUCK TOGETHER I'M NOT SURE BECAUSE WE STILL HAVEN'T I MEAN TRANSMISSION HAS NO SIGNS THAT SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT I THINK THIS IS VERY THING I THINK THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR A VEHICLE TO JUST STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND IMAGINE IF THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAFFIC THANK GOD THAT THERE WASN'T THAT NOBODY WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME CUZ THE TRUCK JUST STOPPED AND IT WAS NOT GOING

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXCURSION. IN AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING WIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY DISCOVERED A MELTED FUSE BOX. THE FUSE BOX WAS REPLACED, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,232 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,230.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD EXCURSION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S HORN BEGAN TO SOUND INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE HORN PAD OUT OF POSITION. THE DEALER HAS THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 200,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. UPDATED 06/14/07.*JB

KEPT HAVING TO REPLACE FUSE #45 ON MY 2002 FORD EXCURSION LIMITED DIESEL 4X4. AFTER PUTTING INTO ANY GEAR, GO TO GIVE IT FUEL IT WOULD NT DO ANYTHING. RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS OTHERS WITH FORD TRUCK 1999-2003 HAVING SAME PROBLEM AND READ WHAT THEY DID TO FIX IT. APPARENTLY IN THE GEAR SHIFT, THERE ARE 3 VERY SHORT WIRES THAT WERE FRAYING DUE TO BE PINCHED. SO SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY WE HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING BOX COVER REMOVED AND THERE IT WAS, THE WIRES WERE ALMOST COMPLETELY FRAYED. THEY WERE FIXED AND ANOTHER FUSE WAS INSTALLED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND SPENT $600 ON A NEW FUSE BOX SINCE THE ORIGINAL ONE WAS FRIED DUE TO THE FRAYED WIRES. I DRIVE 60 MILES ONE WAY TO WORK EVERYDAY AND HAVE 2 LITTLE GIRLS AND THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE AND BELIEVE ME, FORD WOULD HAVE BEEN IN BIG TROUBLE. SO IF OTHERS ARE HAVING THE VERY SAME PROBLEM, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL. IT HAS BEEN NOTED ON THE INTERNET IN VARIOUS PUBLIC FORUMS. COMPENSATION FOR ME AND OTHERS WITH AN ADDITION TO A RECALL WOULD BE THE SOLUTION AND GREATLY APPRECIATED BEFORE THIS CAUSES DEATHS. *JB

THE CPS (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR) FAILED WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT IS NOT A MOVING PART, AND SHOULD HAVE LASTED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES. I UNDERSTAND THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. SIGN ME ON TO THAT BANDWAGON. *NM

IN JUNE OF 2003, A 2002 FORD EXCURSION LIMO SUFFERED A FIRE LOSS UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING OR POWER SWITCHES ON. IT HAD NOT BEEN USED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WHILE AN EMPLOYEE WAS IN THE PASSENGER AREA CLEANING THE LIMO, HE NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE FIRE ORIGINATED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. DAMAGE TO WIRING AND OTHER COMBUSTIBLES WAS EXTENSIVE. NO CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS DETERMINED. AFTER HEARING OF THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH RECALL, I BELIEVE THE CASUSE OF THIS FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN THE SWITCH MALFUNCTION. I KNOW THE EXCUSIONS HAVE NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER, SINCE THEY HAVE THE SAME SWITCH AND OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CAUSE WAS A SWITCH FAILURE. I HAVE ALSO HEARD OF ANOTHER EXCURSION IN OUR AREA HAVING A FIRE LOSS WITH SIMILIAR CONDITIONS. *NM

THE ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER FOR THE OVER DRIVE LOCK SWITCH IS SHORTING OUT IN MY 2002 FORD EXCURSION. I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE GAUGES TURNING OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AROUND ATLANTA, GA WITH MY FAMILY. THE BATTERY WENT DEAD BECAUSE THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE DASH GAUGES BLEW. THE ALTERNATOR QUIT CHARGING THE BATTERY, AND THE GAUGES QUIT WORKING. I DID NOT NOTICE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THE ENGINE DIED. I RESTARTED THE CAR, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT. TAKE OFF WAS VERY SLUGGISH. THE ENGINE RAN FOR ABOUT 300 FEET AND DIED AGAIN SO I PULLED INTO A CONVENIENCE STORE PARKING LOT. I DETERMINED THE BATTERY WENT DEAD AND BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE TO GET ME HOME. MY WIFE TOOK THE CAR TO A SERVICE CENTER AND THEY FOUND THE BAD FUSE FOR THE DASH GAUGES. THIS WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. THE CAR HAS BLOWN SEVERAL FUSES SINCE. TODAY THE CAR'S GAUGES WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE GAUGES WOULD GO ONE AND OFF WHEN I TRIED TO SET THE CRUISE CONTROL OR MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER. WHEN I GOT HOME THIS EVENING I DISASSEMBLED THE PLASTIC COVERS FOR THE STEERING COLUMN. I FOUND THAT THE WIRE FOR THE OVER DRIVE LOCK OUT SWITCH HAS INSULATION THAT HAS RUBBED OFF LEAVING A HOLE. THE EXPOSED WIRING IS GROUNDING OUT ONTO THE SHAFT OF THE GEAR SHIFT THAT PARALLELS THE STEERING COLUMN. PLEASE INFORM FORD OF THE POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD, AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THEY HAVE TO FIND A BETTER WAY OF ROUTING WIRE AROUND MOVING METAL SURFACES TO PREVENT SHORTING OUT THE WIRING. *NM

FORD EXCURSION 2002, BLEW OUT SPARK PLUG THROUGH PISTON CAP,.. AFTER $5000.00 IN FIXES, I WENT TO PICK IT UP, AND IT BLEW UP AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I LOST POWER ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65 MILES PER HOUR, AND ALMOST CRASHED. FORD WAS NOT AT ALL HELPFUL, AND EVEN THOUGH I AM A VERY GOOD CUSTOMER, COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ME, THE DANGER OF THE V10 ENGINE BLOW UPS, OR ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIVES.... IS THEIR ANY WAY YOU GUYS COULD MAKE THEM DO THE RIGHT THING ??? THE VEHICLE HAS A FRONT SUSPENSION PROBLEM WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST, BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOORS ARE MISALIGNED WITH RESPECT TO THE FENDER TRIM, THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS ORIGINALLY MISALIGNED WITH RESPECT TO THE REAR FENDER TRIMS, NOW THE DIFFERENTIAL IS PROPERLY ALIGNED AND THE CONSUMER QUESTIONED THE TECHNICIANS WHO STATED THAT THEY DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE MISALIGNMENT, THE CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY PROBLEM IF THE DIFFERENTIAL GOES IN AND OUT OF ALIGNMENT ON IS OWN, THE A/C WAS NOT COOLING AND NEEDED TO BE RECHARGED, THE CONSUMER CAN HEAR STATIC IN RADIO WHEN TURNING ON THE REAR TV SWITCH, A/C AND TURN SIGNAL, STEERING GEAR AND HYDRO BOOST LINE REPLACED, TIRE OUT OF BALANCED CAUSING VIBRATION AT 75-70 MPH, STEERING OUT OF ADJUSTMENT (OFF CENTER), CALIPERS REPLACED, TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCING A DELAY WHEN SHIFTING, BOTH WIPER BLADES OFF CENTER, DRAIN PLUG LEAKING OIL, WEATHER STRIPPING ON RIGHT REAR DOOR FAILED, HEADLINER IS COMING LOOSE ON THE LEFT SIDE, WINDSHIELD WASHERS INOPERATIVE, FUEL GAUGE READ INCORRECTLY, FAULTY ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHEN COMING TO A STOP.
