I HAVE AN 05 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER EDITION AND THE TRUCK WAS SHUDDERING AND VIBRATING WHILE ON INCLINE OR DRIVING. IT ALSO WOULD HESITATE UPON ACCELERATION. THE NEXT DAY THE TRUCK WILL ONLY ROLL IN REVERSE IT WILL NOT DRIVE FORWARD AND THE "CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" MESSAGE CONTINUES TO POP UP. DROVE IT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULDN'T SHIFT, AND ALL GAUGES WENT FLAT, TRUCK WAS STILL REVVING BUT GAUGES WERE AT ZERO AND THE TRUCK WOULDN'T MOVE. I WAS GOING 60 MPH. AND IT JUST STOPPED MOVING COMPLETELY. CANNOT DRIVE THE TRUCK.

MY 15 YEAR OLD SON AND MY LIFE WERE PLACED IN SERIOUS DANGER, BY THE GROSS NEGLIGENCE AND DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES PROMOTED BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY, REGARDING SCAN CODE P2106. SINCE AS EARLY AS FEBRUARY 26, 2013 FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS MADE AWARE OF A DANGEROUS DEFECT CONCERNING THE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THEIR MANUFACTURED PRODUCT RELEASED TO THE CONSUMER PUBLIC FOR PROFIT. THE VEHICLES ARE FORD TRUCKS, MANUFACTURED FROM 2003 - 2008, WITH THE V8 5.4 L ENGINE. PUBLIC RECORD REVEALS CASE NO. 12-7222, JASON SCHMIDT, (PLAINTIFF) VS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY, (DEFENDANT) FILED IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF PENNSYLVANIA, THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. BUT I CAN TAKE A COMPLAINT AND BE SURE THAT THE DEALERSHIP RECEIVES IT AND PROVIDE YOU WITH A COMPLAINT NUMBER". FLAMMER FORD, SPRING HILL, FL REPLACED A PART AND NEGLECTED TO TEST DRIVE THE TRUCK, RELEASED THE VEHICLE TO ME AND THE PART REPLACED WAS NOT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO AUTONATION FORD IN BROOKSVILLE, FL FOR THE SAME ISSUE (P2106 CODE), THEY DID THE SAME THING, WITHOUT REPLACING A THING. ONLY THIS TIME, WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, MY TRUCK AND THE LOST ALL POWER. MY TRUCK IS BACK AT AUTONATION FORD IN NEED OF A NEW TRANSMISSION.

SINCE PURCHASING THE EXPEDITION IN DECEMBER 2014, I'VE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF "CHECK ENGINE THROTTLE" WARNINGS AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, SUDDENLY. THIS SEEMS TO ALSO HAVE A SECONDARY ISSUE OF THE TRUCK HESITATING/SPUTTERING AROUND 40-50MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN ON ME IN CITY TRAFFIC QUITE A FEW TIMES AND ONCE ON AN EXIT RAMP OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO EXPERIENCE. THE DEALER MENTIONED POSSIBLE SPARK PLUG ISSUES. WHEN THE "CHECK ENGINE" ICON FINALLY CAME ON, I HAD IT READ BY THE DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CODE IS A P2104. THE DEALER NEVER GOT BACK TO ME ON A REMEDY FOR THIS. THE MECHANIC SAYS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL MUST BE REPLACED AND COULD BE THE CAUSE OF BOTH ISSUES. BOTH HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER BEFORE THEIR WARRANTY EXPIRED. I'M FINDING THE REPAIR COULD COST ABOUT $700. AN ISSUE OF THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF, REGARDLESS OF SPEED, WHILE DRIVING IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE TRUCK MUST BE PLACED IN PARK, TURNED OFF, THE RE-STARTED BEFORE CONTINUING MY DRIVE. ACCELERATED ENGINE TO PASS, ENGINE COUGHED AND HEAVED. THE RPM CLIMBED BUT VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT WAS DYING. CAR EVENTUALLY DIED. TURNED CAR OFF RE- STARTED IT. CHK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE RAN ROUGH WANTED TO RAMP UP IN RPMS BUT STILL ACTED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. IT WAS A LIFE THREATENING MOMENT FOR MY FAMILY AND I AS A TRUCK THAT WAS ON COMING FROM BEHIND WITH SPEED HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER NOT TO COLLIDE WITH ME SINCE I HAD NO POWER TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ONLY FORTUNATE THAT THE TRUCK HAD A CLEAR LANE TO CHANGE INTO ABRUPTLY. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MESSAGE AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH IS A WIDE SPREAD KNOW ISSUE AMONG FORD CARS AND I AM LIVID AND VERY ANGRY THAT THE NHTSA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS KNOW ISSUE AS IT IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE ONLINE. BUT THEY SUGGESTED CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY. WE DECIDED TO TAKE VEHICLE HOME. VEHICLE WORKED FINE UNTIL YESTERDAY, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION. FAULT ON THE CONSOLE WAS "ELECTRONIC THROTTLE". HAS HAPPEN APPROX 4 MORE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS WITH THREE DIFFERENT DRIVERS. NO PROBLEM EVER FOUND BY DEALER. HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEED ON THE FREEWAY COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING AND POWER OCCURS MORE CONCERNING IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. I FIND THIS TO BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND A DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN. THE LAST TIME IT OCCURRED WHEN BY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING SHE WAS SCARED TO DEATH REFUSING TO DRIVE IT HOME. BOTH CASES HAPPENED WHILE TURNING THROUGH A MAJOR INTERSECTION, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, BUT THERE WAS NO CONNECTION BETWEEN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE THROTTLE (STEPPING ON THE GAS HAD NO EFFECT). LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND ONTO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN DEC 2011, AND IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MORNING (1 OCT 2012), LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING AND SAFELY MANEUVERED OUT OF HARM'S WAY. IF IT HAD BEEN MY WIFE AND CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, OR IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS SAME FAILURE ON THE INTERNET. I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE AND CHILDREN RIDE IN THE VEHICLE TRIED TO HAVE FIXED AT THE DEALER IN DEC 2011 AND THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT, JUST WANTED TO START REPLACING PARTS. 2005 FORD EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER, 90,000 MILES. (VEHICLE MANUFACTURED IN 2004.) WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED THROTTLE STUCK IN FULLY DEPRESSED POSITION AFTER BEING ENGAGED FOR A ROUTINE PASS OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS NOTED TO ACCELERATE. ACCELERATOR PEDAL COULD NOT BE RETURNED TO NON-DEPRESSED STATE WHEN FORCE APPLIED. BRAKES APPLIED FORCEFULLY, VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE SLOWED OR BROUGHT TO A STOP. STRONG SMELL OF "BURNING" BRAKE PADS WAS NOTED. ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT VEHICLE INTO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION POSITION OF NEUTRAL. NO CHANGE IN ENGINE SPEED NOTED. TRANSMISSION THEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. VEHICLE WHEELS LOCKED UP AND VEHICLE SKIDDED APPROXIMATELY 100 - 150 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. ANTILOCK SYSTEM AND OTHER SYSTEMS DID NOT ACTIVATE. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, THROTTLE PEDAL WAS INSPECTED. NO INTERIOR INTERFERENCE FROM FLOOR MATS OR OTHER MATERIALS NOTED. OPERATOR IS 100% CERTAIN AS A RESULT OF "REAL-TIME" VISUAL CONFIRMATION, THAT ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS WERE NOT MISTAKENLY ENGAGED OR DUALLY ENGAGED. CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED AND MAINTAINED REGULARLY AND WITH PRECISION AND DETAIL. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY POST THE INCIDENT. THROTTLE BODY FOUND TO BE FOULED AND DIRTY. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IS REASONABLY CERTAIN THAT DIRTY THROTTLE BODY IS MOST LIKELY CAUSE OF THIS EVENT. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HAS PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF SIMILAR THROTTLE BODY FAILURES PRODUCING SIMILAR EVENTS AS HAS BEEN DESCRIBED ABOVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

MY QUESTIONS IS WHY ISN'T FORD BEING RESPONSIBLE AND GETTING THESE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED IN THESE VEHICLES. I WAS DRIVING UP THE HIGHWAY WITH MY TWO KIDS IN MY CAR. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR THE BEEP ON MY SYSTEM AND IT STATED THAT I NEEDED TO " CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL". I LAID OFF THE GAS AND WENT THRU A LIGHT WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO HIT THE GAS AGAIN I REALIZED I HAD NO POWER AT ALL AND I WAS COASTING. I GOT IN THE TURNING LANE AND HAD TO PULL IN FRONT OF A CAR JUST SO I WOULD NOT BE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHERE MY KIDS AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE FIRED UP. I WAS IN TEARS TRYING TO MAKE IT TO MY OFFICE BECAUSE I FELT LIKE IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. THE WHOLE MILE IT TOOK FOR ME TO GET THERE THE TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF AGAIN. IT FELT LIKE THE TRUCK DID NOT HAVE GAS AND WAS RIDING ON FUMES. IT WAS SHAKING AND MOVING SLOWING. I WILL NOT DRIVE IT LIKE THIS AND WILL PROBABLY TRADE IT IN NOW. I CANNOT DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT I DO NOT FEEL IS RELIABLE FOR ME AND MY KIDS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND THE TRUCK HAS 83K MILES ON IT. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AT 46K MILES. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THE THROTTLE BODY COULD HAVE FAILED AS A RESULT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I MIGHT TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM DEPENDING ON COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH IT OR MIGHT GET ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR

2005 FORD EXPEDITION LIMITED ~83.5K MILES VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT A HALF HOUR AND THE ENGINE STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, BRAKE OR STEER. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD, SHUT VEHICLE OFF, RESTARTED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, UNABLE TO REGISTER CODE HOWEVER I PROVIDED THEM WITH COMMENTS FROM ONLINE SITES POINTING TO THROTTLE CONTROL BODY FAILURE CAUSING ENGINE TO GO INTO FAILSAFE MODE. DEALERSHIP'S FIRST INCLINATION WITHOUT ANY CODES IS TO REPLACE A FUEL SENSOR. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ADDRESS THROTTLE CONTROL BODY DESPITE MY SUGGESTION ALONG WITH OTHER VEHICLE OWNER'S INCIDENT REPORTS FROM ONLINE SITES. 8 DAYS LATER WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MYSELF AND FIVE CHILDREN, AFTER ABOUT A HALF HOUR OF DRIVING, HE FOUND HE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, LOOKED AT THE MESSAGE CENTER AND IT SAID CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AT WHICH TIME HE PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART. DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THE ONBOARD COMPUTER OR SENSORS ARE NOT STORING THESE CODES, THE PROBLEM IS SO FAR INTERMITTENT. THIS PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP DESPITE MY RESEARCH WOULD NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. IT ALSO APPEARS FORD IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THIS EITHER. SO FAR, I HAVE FOUND ONE INSTANCE ONLINE WHERE THE OWNER OF A 2006 EXPEDITION WAS REIMBURSED FROM FORD FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THEIR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL BODY THEREBY ACKNOWLEDGING SOME SEMBLANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY. THIS NEWER THROTTLE CONTROL BODY IS DIFFERENT THAN THE ORIGINAL, IMPROVED. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL OR EVEN A TSB? HOW MANY REPORTS OF THERE OUT THERE, HOW MANY ACCIDENTS, INJURIES, POSSIBLY DEATHS MIGHT BE ATTRIBUTED TO THIS FAILURE? AFTER CONTACTING FORD, WE WILL HAVE THE THROTTLE CONTROL BODY REPLACED. ALSO, IT APPEARS, PEOPLE ARE BEING SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE SENSOR FIRST ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM OCCUR AGAIN - IT'S NOT THE SENSOR, IT'S THE ACTUAL PART. *TR

2005 FORD EXPEDITION, TRANSMISSION PROBLEM .WHILE TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY, THE O/D OFF LIGHT CAME ON. THEN LATER ON , THE CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE POSITION . THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A LIMP HOME MODE. UNSAFE'WHEN I DID INVESTIGATE ,I NOTICED MY VEHICLE WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE SPOT WHERE IT WAS LEAKING FROM WAS NEAR THE RADIATOR, THE TRANSMISSION LINES TO AND FROM THE RADIATOR AND THE EXTERNAL TRANS COOLER AND TRANSMISSION WERE CORRODED. MY REPAIR SHOP TRIED TO OBTAIN AFTERMARKET ONLY TO FIND THEY HAD TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED FROM FORD. WHILE DOING THAT ,FORD INFORMED HIM, THEY HAD SOME 15 KITS COMING IN, HOWEVER THEY WERE ALL ACCOUNTED FOR AND THE NEXT SET WOULD BE IN ANOTHER MONTH. APPARENTLY THERE IS SOMETHING FAULTY. DRIVING MY 2005 FORD EXPEDITION LIMITED IN THE MORNING. AFTER ABOUT 2 MILES THE CAR POWERED TO A CRAWL AND GAVE ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE ALERT. PULLED TO SIDE. POWERED DOWN CAR AND THE RESTARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT. A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS APPARENTLY A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE CONTROL UNIT. THIS DESCRIPTION IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND IS A KNOWN SAFETY PROBLEM AS PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THAT IT HAS HAPPENED TO THEM ON THE FREEWAY. CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN, FORD COMPANY IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY. ALL NHTSA HAS TO DO IS GOOGLE "ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE" AND SEE THE NUMBER OF PROBLEMS THAT COME UP WITH SAME ISSUE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A WELL KNOWN SAFETY PROBLEM BUT YET THERE IS NO RECALL. DEALER SAYS THROTTLE CONTROL UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $514.61 + TAX. THIS PROBLEM MAY ALSO HAVE TAKEN OUT MY AIR CONDITIONING. IT WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME AS THE SECOND FAILURE, BUT DEALER (VISTA FORD IN OXNARD) IS SAYING THERE IS NO RELATIONSHIP. THE CONTACT SPENT $2,400 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2005. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

ON DECEMBER 1, 2007, THE VEHICLE SLID OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. IN JANUARY OF 2008, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REINSTALLED THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE ON JANUARY 10, 2008 AND THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE FAILED AGAIN SEVEN DAYS LATER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,900 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. DEFECTS THAT WERE TO BE FIXED. TRANSMISSION. WHEN STOPPED ON A HILL IF YOU REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL OUT OF CONTROL. THIS HAPPENS IF YOU ARE STOPPED WITH THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE GOING DOWN A HILL OF IN DRIVE GOING UP A HILL. THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT AT ODD TIMES AS YOU ARE DRIVING. REAR PASSENGER DOME LIGHT FLICKERS WHEN YOU TURN IN ON WITH THE SWITCH IN THE BACK. RIGHT TURN SIGNAL FLASHES VERY FAST. TIRES ARE VERY BAD OUT OF BALANCE. DRIVER DOOR DOES NOT LATCH UNLESS IT IS SHUT HARD. I TOLD JESSE THAT THEY HAD TO BE DONE BY 5:00 PM. AFTER KEEPING THE VEHICLE ALL DAY NOTHING WAS FIXED. DURING MY VISIT IN YOUR OFFICE ON 12-9-05 YOU ASSURED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE REPLACED. YOU ALSO STATED THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE BAD TIRES AND WOULD REPLACE THEM NOW THAT I HAD COMPLAINED. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE THE FOLLOWING NEW DEFECTS HAVE BEEN FOUND. TURN SIGNALS WILL SOMETIMES NOT WORK AT ALL. WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN THE REAR END WILL SLIP. YOU CAN FILL IT NOT HOLDING THE ROAD. OUTSIDE FUMES ARE SUCKED INTO THE VEHICLE. ANY SMELL OR EXHAUST FROM THIS OR OTHER VEHICLES IS PULLED INSIDE. THE LEATHER ON THE FRONT SEATS HAS TURNED BLACK. THE TRANSMISSION, REAR END PROBLEM AND TIRES ARE ALL MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEMS. THESE MUST BE FIXED. I FEEL THAT HAVING MY WIFE DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH THESE PROBLEMS IS PUTTING HER IN DANGER. THE TURN SIGNALS AND LIGHT PROBLEM ARE POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARDS. DT: THE CAR WAS SITTING AND RUNNING FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES NEAR A BUILDING. THE CAR WAS IN PARK. THE OWNER WAS UNLOADING THE VEHICLE, AND THEN WALKED BACK INTO THE BUILDING. THE OWNER HEARD A BOOM, AND CAME OUTSIDE AND SAW THAT THE CAR HIT A FAN, AND ALMOST HIT THE BARN. THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE WHEN THE OWNER GOT BACK INTO THE CAR. THE OWNER PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED, AND WAS DETERMINED THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT. THE OWNER HAS NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAD MINIMAL DAMAGE. THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE FAN.THE OWNER NOTED THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND THE VEHICLE. *AK
