Vehicle will shift in and out of gears randomly while driving I’m concerned about driving on the highway and getting into or causing an accident because it happens at random and then stops No lights on dashboard and vehicle just passed inspection I believe it is a problem with the TCM and there has been an extended warranty issues for the same part in different models for ford including the fiesta and focus I believe
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle briefly hesitated, with the transmission slipping. Later, the contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle was vibrating excessively. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with transmission power converter failure resulting in damages to the timing chain. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

I was driving and going around 45mph when the wrench warning light came on and I lost the ability to accelerate. The car could only coast. I was able to coast to a parking lot. I turned off the car and restarted it. It seemed fine so I drove home. The same thing happened again a couple of days later. We checked the codes and it had a p2112 error code. We replaced the throttle body and it seems fine now. However this is the second time we have had to replace the throttle body. The same thing happened in 2018 with about 74000 miles on the car. We replaced the throttle body then also. From internet searches this seems to be a common problem. It is a big safety issue since the car loses the ability to accelerate unexpectedly. I was lucky I was able to coast out of the way each time without causing an accident.
Vehicle was placed in park and rolled down a driveway. Vehicle almost crashed through a house across the street if the owner did not jump in the vehicle and slam the brake. Problem has not yet been reproduced by a dealer. The part has not yet been evaluated by the dealer. Although, the dealer has done improper inspections of broken parts on the vehicle when it was under warranty in an attempt to get out of replacing them, so I do not trust the dealer to do a proper assessment.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and shifted into park(P) and the contact exited the vehicle to run errands; however, upon returning to where the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the vehicle had rolled away. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and had started engaging the parking brake whenever the vehicle was parked. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
Mileage: 138,000
The vehicle dashboard goes blank while driving, followed by the vehicle transmission slipping out of gear. This vehicle can be made available; however, it does not transfer gears. The problem has not been satisfactorily reproduced or diagnosed. The Ford service department simply stated that I needed a new transmission. The dashboard goes blank.
I was towing a trailer on a freeway when I suddenly got a "wrench" light stating my engine was cutting power due to heat and before I knew what to do there my vehicle was coasting, and so I quickly as I could changed lanes and came to a stop just a foot from the white line on the right. Cars and trucks are whizzing by me at highway speeds and was luckily off the road enough not to get hit. I had three other passengers at the time in my vehicle. what failed: after getting my passengers safely in other vehicles at the next rest stop, the trailer that I was towing was hooked up by another person on the same trip, I had my vehicle brought home on a flatbed. Fast forward to this week when it was finally diagnosed at a transmission shop. I was informed a transmission cooling line had ruptured, sending all the transmission oil out of the case and bringing me to an abrupt end on the freeway. Had I not been able to get over I would have come to a halt on the freeway, putting myself and my passengers as well as others behind me at risk. The transmission shop confirmed the issue. Since we were going at highway speeds when the transmission coolant line ruptures the oil gushes out and i have very little time before the transmission will not work. The only warning was from the engine as the transmission oil got pumped out, I'm assuming the engine revved to compensate, creating more heat, then the warning light which only happened seconds before I had no way to move. I was pretty scared, but I had other passengers in the vehicle, so I had to remain calm. At the time I had no idea what happened. I asked the transmission shop manager if that was a serviceable item (I'm pretty sure it's not) and he confirmed transmission coolant lines should last the life of the vehicle. My vehicle is only 8 years old--that is a catastrophic failure of a non-moving part leading to almost instant transmission failure. I asked if debris could have broken the line--he said no.
My 2015 Ford Expedition randomly dies when I drive it. The vehicle only has 60.000 miles on it, we took it to a ford dealership and they had the car for 3 months and cannot figure out what’s wrong with it even after having Fords Master mechanics try and remedy. After doing research it seems like this is a super common issue and Ford Needs to issue a recall to give its customers answers. My expensive vehicle is not safe to drive as it randomly dies without warning.
transmission cooler lines snapped at 60mph. no crash able to get suv on side of road. transmission is totaled needs replaced. repairs are underway at ford dealership in groveport ohio. milage of failure around 101100 miles on the odometer. rust metal fatigue are the cause of what transpired. cost of repairs at this moment is around 9 grand.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that his wife informed him that upon parking and exiting the vehicle, the vehicle rolled approximately 20-feet forward and stopped upon hitting a telephone pole. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that no issues were found, and the gear shifter assembly was operating as designed. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing an excessive electrical drain. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the gear shifter assembly module was temporarily removed. As a result, the excessive battery drain ceased. The mechanic diagnosed that the failure was associated with either the gear shifter assembly or the module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was 90,000.
Mileage: 90,000
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission inadvertently downshifted. Additionally, the service transmission warning light illuminated on and off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with wheel speed sensor failure, however; the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Mileage: 87,000

Mileage: 112,000
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle was shaking abnormally while shifting gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. While the mechanic was test driving the vehicle, he noticed there was a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.

THREE TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS GONE INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT BEING DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. I HAVE GONE TO THE DEALERSHIP EACH TIME AND NO FAILURE CODE IS COMING UP. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE FAILURE CODE BEING DISPLAYED AND RECOMMENDED TOWING THE VEHICLE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS. I HAVE FEAR OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY.

VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES THE VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A HOME WHILE STILL IN PARK.

ON TODAY'S DATE, APRIL 9, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:20PM CDT, I WAS ENTERING FREEWAY ACCELERATING TO 40 MPH WHEN POWER WAS LOST AND QUICKLY DECELERATED TO UNDER 5MPH. ENGINE STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WENT INTO 'LIMP HOME' MODE, NO FASTER THAN 5MPH. WAS ABLE TO GET TO DISTRESS LANE. WRENCH SYMBOL DISPLAYED ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. TURNED OFF ENGINE AND CHECKED OWNERS MANUAL...SYMBOL INDICATED POWER TRAIN TROUBLE. TURNED ON STARTED OK, AND CONTINUED TO FREEWAY SPEED. ABOUT 1 MILE LATER, LOST POWER AGAIN, SLOWING TO 'LIMP' MODE. THIS TIME CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS CAME ON AND ENGINE NOTICEABLY ROUGH RUNNING. TURNED OFF/ON STARTED OK, EXITED FREEWAY AND DROVE CITY STREETS HOME, ABOUT 3 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF. WRENCH LIGHT DID GO OFF AFTER 2ND RE-START. MANUAL RECOMMENDS HAVING FORD DEALER CHECK IT OUT. THAT'S WHAT I'LL BE DOING TOMORROW. THIS SPONTANEOUS LOSS OF POWER HAS RISK OF CAUSING A CRASH FROM OTHER DRIVER'S AS SUDDEN DECELERATIONS WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHT WARNING IS VERY DANGEROUS.

TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT TO LOWER GEAR, FIRST TIME 6TH GEAR TO 3RD GEAR, SECOND TIME LAST WEEK WENT FROM 3RD TO 1ST, LUCKILY WAS DRIVING SLOW IN CONSTRUCTION ZONE BY OUR HOUSE.
ENGINE STALLS OUT AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND PRODUCES A P2112 CODE THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED. ENGINE CUTS OUT COMPLETELY. HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES. MILEAGE 55234 ONLY. ENGINE RESTARTS NORMALLY UNTIL NEXT INCIDENT. CAR PRODUCED AT LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY TRUCK PLANT WHICH PRODUCED THE DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODIES INCLUDED IN THE FORD RECALL CAMPAIGN 16B32.

WHILE TRAVELING IN THE PASSING (3RD) LEFT LANE ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH SPEEDS OF 65 TO 70 MPH, THE VEHICAL TOTALLY LOSS POWER, MOTOR STILL RUNNING BUT JUST AT AN UNEVEN POOR IDLE, STILL IN GEAR, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, IT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YET THE MOTOR WAS STILL AT THE POOR IDLE. ON THE DASH COMUPTER A WRENCH APPEARED WITH "SEE MANUAL" ALONG WITH A SMALL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ABOVE THAT. I WAS FORCED TO GET OUT OF THAT DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH NO POWER, COASTING THROUGH 3 LANES WITH MY WIFE WAVING OUT THE PASSENGER WINDOW TO LET MY POWERLESS CAR DRIFT OVER. ONCE OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE MOTOR WAS STILL POORLY IDLING, GIVING IT GAS DID NOTHING, STILL JUST A ROUGH IDLE. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND MIRACULOUSLY I ONCE AGAIN HAD CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS STILL 3 HOURS FROM HOME WITH ALL HIGHWAY DRIVING AHEAD OF ME, WHICH I DID DOING 55MPH IN THE SLOW LANE & READY TO TURN OFF ROAD. I BOUGHT A NEW VEHICLE AS TO NOT HAVE PROBLEMS, LET ALONE THE MOST DANGEROUS EPISODE OF OUR LIVES. WHAT REALLY IS UNACCEPTABLE IS THAT I JUST HAD A 70K MILE CHECKUP AT A LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY RECCOMEND CHANGING MY TRANSFER CASE OIL ALONG WITH AN OIL CHANGE & TIRE ROTATION. I WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH FOR A ROAD TRIP. I REFUSE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A FLAW IN THEIR DESIGN, ESPECIALLY BEING A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH SUDDEN POWER LOSS. SPEED WENT FROM 50 MPH TO 2 MPH. VEHICLE DRIFTED TO A STOP DESPITE PRESSING GAS. AFTER WAITING BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE MOVING AT APPROX. 4 MPH. FRIEND RESPONDING SUGGESTED TURNING ENGINE OFF AND ON AGAIN. THAT WORKED, POWER RESTORED AND ABLE TO GET HOME. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY THAT HAD MALFUNCTIONED.

IN THE PAST WEEK, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY 2015 FORD EXPEDITION HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. FIRST INSTANCE, WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 45MPH ON SMALL COUNTRY ROAD AND ACCELERATING, VEHICLE STALLED AND CAME TO A ROLLING STOP, WITH SERVICE INDICATOR LIGHT AND "SEE MANUAL" ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD. ONCE STOPPED AND SHIFTED INTO PARK, VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE AGAIN NORMALLY. SECOND INSTANCE (APPROX. 2 DAYS LATER), WHILE ENTERING INTERSTATE FROM ON RAMP, APPROX. 45MPH AND ACCELERATING, VEHICLE STALLED. LUCKILY, WE WERE ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER PRIOR TO COMING TO COMPLETE STOP. ONCE SHIFTED INTO PARK, VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE AGAIN NORMALLY. FORD SERVICE TOLD US THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, AND WILL COST NEARLY $700 TO REPLACE. I'VE DONE SOME ONLINE RESEARCH OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS, THE THROTTLE BODY SEEMS TO BE ONE OF, IF NOT THE MOST COMMON COMPLAINTS BY 2015 EXPEDITION OWNERS. IF THIS HAPPENED DURING RUSH HOUR ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, PEOPLE COULD GET KILLED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.

DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROL SYSTEMS THAT CAUSE THE VEHICLES TO SUDDENLY AND DANGEROUSLY LOSE POWER. WHILE TRAVELING 70MPH ON HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, (ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH).
Mileage: 50,000
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP GRADE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND SHAKE, THE WRENCH SYMBOL POPPED UP AS WELL AS A WARNING SEE OWNERS MANUAL. AS I SAFELY GOT OFF THE ROAD I HAD WAITED FOR CARS TO PASS BY BEFORE I TRIED TO RE EMERGE ONTO THE ROAD AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO A FULL PRESS OF THE GAS PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO APPROX. 1 MILE HR. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAS ABOUT TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND I DECIDED TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT LET ME DRIVE WITH NO ISSUES. AFTER MY INCIDENT I WENT HOME TO GOOGLE THE SYMPTOMS IT APPEARED TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES. HOW EVER UNDER THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED BUT YET HAS THE SAME ISSUES. I WOULD LIKE TO START AN INVESTIGATION IN THIS MATTER AS SAME OTHER CONSUMERS MIGHT NOT BE AS SKILLFULLY OF A DRIVER AS MYSELF AND POSSIBLY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH OVER THIS ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70 MPH), WENT TO PASS TRAFFIC, TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED, SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND TRUCK LOST ALL POWER. TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN 4TH GEAR AND ENGINE WOULD NOT REV ABOVE IDLE. PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF TRUCK. RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. A FEW DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME WAS ON A CITY STREET (20MPH) AND TRANS WAS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR.

2015 FORD EXPEDITION EL LIMITED NOTED TO HAVE WHISTLING/WHINING NOISE WITH ACCELERATION. EVALUATED BY A FORD DEALER. FOUND TO HAVE DEFECTIVE SEAL ON REAR AXLE WITH LOSS OF LUBRICATING FLUID AND DAMAGE TO THE DIFFERENTIAL. THIS WAS NEAR MISS; NO ACCIDENT/INJURY OCCURRED. GIVEN THAT THIS PART FAILED ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE (LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD) AND DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR 3-6 WEEKS DUE TO UNAVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS, I AM CONCERNED THAT FORD KNOWS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART BUT HAS CHOSEN NOT TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION.
