i had the backup camera replaced last year when it failed under warranty, paid a $100 deductible to Ford. Now the backup camera has failed again. Why isn’t my vehicle included in the recall?
The back up camera is not working shows a blue screen or a black and white screen with lines through it. Can't change radio or connect a phone to it or change the temperature on the screen. Navigation stops working on the screen and won't display anything. Sometimes the screen won't shut off when vehicle is shut off or won't turn on and stays blank when the vehical is in motion and cant control anything at all.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which manages engine-transmission communication and regulates cooling system performance, malfunctioned, resulting in a cascade of related failures: Transmission system: Delayed shifting, hesitation, and eventually a “transmission stuck in park” code. Cooling system: Repeated overheating that led to a ruptured radiator. These issues stem from the faulty PCM referenced in Ford Recall 24E13, issued on April 25, 2025. Yes, the failed components remain in the possession of Harbin Motor Company in Scottsboro, AL, where the vehicle is still located. The vehicle has not been repaired and is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This vehicle was operated while exhibiting documented powertrain and overheating symptoms—including while transporting children. Harbin Ford repeatedly instructed continued use despite: Diagnostic scans on April 10, 2025 confirming PCM-related failures including “transmission stuck in park” and overheating. A coolant leak that occurred without warning lamps, leading to the radiator bursting. These failures put occupants at serious risk of breakdown or fire, especially in high-traffic or high-temperature driving conditions. Operating a vehicle with a malfunctioning PCM increases the likelihood of gear slippage, sudden deceleration, or complete transmission failure. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issue has been repeatedly confirmed by Harbin Motor Company, an authorized Ford dealer: On April 10, 2025, a scan identified “transmission stuck in park,” overheating, and a third unidentified code. On May 15, 2025, the service manager Craig Davis confirmed the transmission had an internal issue requiring a full rebuild and located a coolant leak. These confirmations were documented via servi
The rear back up camera has recently been glitching and most times has a solid blue screen when car is in reverse. It was in for diagnostics, report came back stating: Verified customer concern; screen turns blue when vehicle is placed in reverse. Retrieved CMDTC B115E 08 stored current in IPMB. Verified gear selected matches commanded data in IPMB. Removed and tested circuit with known good camera, and rear view image works each time vehicle is placed in reverse, confirming circuit is good.
Sunroof explosion while driving on the highway. Loud bang rattled the driver and passenger. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, but it could have been catastrophic for our vehicle and the vehicles around us if control was not maintained. Our Ford dealer said he has heard of sunroof explosions before. Dealership has the vehicle and is awaiting authorization to repair. Allstate Insurance is also involved. There was no warning anything was wrong. This vehicle was bought brand new (1 owner) and is now 5 years old, has run great and has been properly maintained at our local Ford dealership.
The under carriage splash guard gets wet keeps tearing off. It is made of a felt material and it is a widely known problem. I have replaced 1 already and the 2nd has now failed. The is a safety issue.
The rear backup camera intermittently displays a blank or distorted image. I noticed online that there was a recall (20V575000) as follows. However, my Ford dealership says they are not honoring it for my vehicle. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Expedition, Escape, Ranger and Edge, and Lincoln Nautilus and Corsair vehicles. Due to a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera may intermittently display a blank or distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Vehicle is at 53k miles and the blower motor already has failed. No cool air to the entire rear portion and intermittently no airflow to the front.
10 Speed Transmission has been rebuilt but did not solve problem. Ford refuses to issue a recall even though they have had many class action law suits and other complaints about this transmission. The issue is: Jerking, Harsh shifting, Lunging, Clunking, Hesitation, and Sudden loss of power. This happens every time it is driven from about a month after it was rebuilt to today. It has never stopped.
Transmission failure with gears 2-3-4-5-7. Hard jerking and shifting when attempting to accelerate. Transmission slips while driving especially at stop lights which can cause an accident or rear end accident. Putting other drivers at risk by not being able to fully control acceleration of vehicle coming on or off highway ramps. Ford dealership and dealership of purchase has been made aware of issues with vehicle. Gear shift failure as well has service wrench appears when troubles start and continue. Issues 1st appeared in April of 2024.
Driving down a highway the right side front trim that extends from the top of the windshield to the front of the luggage rack ripped off and it took a piece of the luggage rack off with it. It caused the vehicle behind me to swerve to avoid hitting it and nearly caused an accident. My local Ford Dealership told me that there is an active recall # 24S02 currently exists for similar reasons but does not currently cover my 2020 vehicle.
Transmission went out due to faulty chip/ A/C went out due to faulty compressor
I've taken my car in for over a year multiple times for the same issue. When driving the car will jerk almost as if I've hit a car and power goes down. Many times it fails to go when accelerating after this has happened. The movement of the car is worrisome and the loud noise made can be heard out the car. When this happens the steering locks up and makes it hard to turn along with the power going out. I've been told on each occasion that nothing can be found. It never throws a code, this past weekend while traveling it threw a code TSB #23-2249
The evaporator hose was faulty and wasn't connected right. It caused water to settle under the passenger side carpet and mold to grow underneath. Wire wraps along the inside of the door and base floor also have mold. Myself and family breathing in mold spores is a complete health risk. It has been confirmed by a Ford dealership and an insurance representative was contacted who also confirmed. There were not any warnings of this failure. The dealership stated this has been a common problem but has not be recalled for this type of vehicle at this time.
The vehicle has had power issues since day 1. Lost power driving 70 on freeway. When we go to start everything flickers and flashes. Take to the dealer and it’s not a problem until it breaks. 4/5 years of this issue!
While driving, if another vehicle passes while on a two line road, the hood will raddel. Getting out and inspecting I see flex in the hood where attached to hydraulic to hold hood up. The weekend I bought our Ford Max, we went to NC, while driving we saw flexing in the hood, at the time we thought it was illusion from reflection from the guard rail. We continue to have flexing would call it buckling and can hear the hood trying to separate from the latch. If some one forgets to shut the hood or latching lock fail, the hood will fly up and cause an accident.
When shifting from park to drive or reverse, the car slams into gear and jolts the entire vehicle, sever times while going up a steep driveway at a low speed it slips and grabs into gear, while driving into my home complex the speed is 25 MPH so if i have my foot on the gas no problem but when i coast and let my foot off the gas it will clunk super hard like it almost went into reverse or something because the jolt was that severe, same thing will happen when i accelerate onto the freeway and then let off the gas, I don't think this is SAFE at all, pretty scary to be honest. I have a 2020 Ford expedition.
Hard shift 3rd-6th gear as well as from park to reverse or drive
Panoramic moonroof suddenly exploded in a car wash during the high pressure air drying. Thankfully the sunshade was closed and my 3 children sitting in the middle row were not sprayed or hit with the shattered glass, water or air from the car wash and were not seriously injured. Ford clearly knows there is a problem, and I’ve watched numerous news stories about exploding moonroofs and I want to know if NHTSA will re- investigate this known problem and huge safety risk.
While I am driving, or stopping to turn or at the red light the engine turned off completely, and a warning signs will display telling me to restart my car again, it is very scary abd dangerous. It happens 3 times so far where I have to turn on my warning flash lights, so cars behind me could pass me or wait until I restart and drive again. It happens with no warning
My check charging system light came on at a drive thru and the truck put itself in park and shut off. I tried to start it back up and wouldn’t start but the starter keep trying which lead to an electrical fire and the only way to get it to stop was to disconnect the battery. I was not even able to get the truck in neutral to push it out of the way. Even following the steps that it says by pressing both the brake and gas pedal and moving the knob. It would just go back in park. I had to have a tow truck to come remove my truck out of the drive thru is was blocking. My concern is that if this happened in a garage while using the remote start, it could’ve completely caught fire had not, I’ve been paying attention.
I was sitting at the kitchen table with my children doing some painting projects for Halloween and my car started smoking, my alarms started going off and within a matter of minutes my car was completely engulfed in flames, I grabbed my kids and ran outside as the car was close to our house and we then called 911. By the time the fire department arrived the car was a complete loss, and my house has sustained minor damages.
My SUV had shudders and vibrations while making turns. I took it into a local Ford dealer and they couldn’t find the problem. They said they did an “engine relearn” and that I should drive it for one thousand miles to see if it gets better. I drive it to Kentucky from Wisconsin and back; the problem got worse. I took it back in to the same dealer and they then figured out that it was the front differential and it needed to be completely rebuilt and the cost would be $3200!
Muffler and exhaust pipes have gotten rusted. I only have 37k miles on it. Is this a defect from manufacturer? I have many other cars but not rust over 100k miles.
Driving on freeway and slowed down due to traffic and trucks ahead. Got over into left lane, accelerated and vehicle stalled then jerked forward. Wrench light came on. Got off the freeway, turned vehicle off and waited 5 minutes. Another time was driving up the grapevine to LA, vehicle stalled and again quickly accelerated forward. I got off the freeway to allow the vehicle to rest. Third incident, driving on freeway, wrench light again appeared. When taking long road trips, I must stop every 2 hours in order for vehicle to not stall and to eliminate having transmission issues.
2020 - Expedition collision avoidance should be investigated. Background: 05-08-21 Traveling south at 6 pm near Oxford Michigan on M-24 (grassy-median 4-lane highway) at the posted 55 MPH limit in clear weather. Ford Co-Pilot360 & 360 Assist active with 360 deg camera. Speed control set to normal mode with “collision avoidance” set to max and auto braking. I am (1st car) in the right lane with a 2nd car following also in my lane. A 3rd car (waiting to enter the highway) stops ahead (on right- from west) at an intersection where left turns (north) are prohibited. That 3rd car safely turns right (south) in front of us quickly crossing both active southbound lanes and over into the short left turn-around lane north. That 3rd driver had cleared the two active lanes quickly and safely. As our vehicles approached him we had an open traffic lane on our left, a clear shoulder to the right and nothing in front of us, no safety issue yet. Issue: When I drive past that 3rd vehicle my Expedition dashboard shouts “collision warning”. My vehicle applies the brakes while my 360 degree cameras ignore that a car is closing fast behind me. I need to accelerate and do it now! I’m shocked to find that flooring my gas pedal or even pumping it has no effect. Ford has taken my throttle away from me, I can’t help that 2nd car behind me. The 2nd car brakes and swerves hard into the open lane barely missing me. It was just luck that the driver was responsive and the lane was open. No, I did not hit or touch the brake by mistake. The 2nd car now angry at me accelerates hard, passes and swerves back into my lane then hits his brakes! My Expedition “collision warning” doesn’t appear, so my “auto brakes” fail to activate and I’m forced to brake hard in response. After successfully avoiding another Ford induced accident, I backed-off a great distance to encourage a justifiably angry citizen to move away. I didn’t want a third attempt at my life if he pulled a weapon
I was driving my Expedition and the sunroof exploded out of nowhere. I had the screen closed so no one was injured.
While driving down the highway I heard a pop in my vehicle and realized my sunroof had burst. Glass separated and flew into my car and cut myself and my 4 small children. No warning lights were on in my vehicle at this time. When brought to the dealership for repair, the repair shop reported that this will happen with these vehicles and to pursue reimbursement with Ford. Unfortunately, Ford reports that vehicle is not under warranty and the repairs won’t be covered.
The MOONROOF EXPLODED- PLEASE come look at it before this kills someone!!!!!! Had the curtain been open the glass would have gone all over my children, it also poses danger to those that might be driving behind/around you should the glass fly into their vehicle/passerby's. It appears this has been a issue but a recall has yet to be issued which is mind blowing to me- as these vehicles often are hauling large families posing a huge safety risk. There were NO WARNINGS!!!!!!!!!!!! GLASS EVERYWHERE_ ADDRESS this before someone gets killed!!
At least 5 different times while driving I go to push the accelerator and the gear seems to slip and an awful sound like gears grinding is heard. I always feel like my transmission is going to fall out from under the car. It prohibits the car from moving and I have almost been hit from behind because I cannot accelerate at the time. It has happened on the freeway, in town driving, and even accelerating up my driveway. I have taken it to a Ford dealership but no answers.
My car has been skipping between 3 rpm and up. The other day the collision assist pulled up and my car did a crazy jerking and almost cut off while driving. I drove slowly home with it constantly skipping and making it hard to accelerate. After it sat overnight the collision warning went off. It’s still skipping some and the power is not there like it once was.
While driving down the highway I heard a noise of something on the roof of my car I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a chrome piece blowing along the road. When I got to my destination I noticed the roof rack front rail cap was missing on the passenger side. The drivers side was secured and not loose. I did see a recall for a 2017 explorer for the same issue but nothing for my car
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and going down a hill, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the power steering operated as needed however, the brakes failed to operate as needed. The contact steered through an intersection as the vehicle continued to accelerate. Additionally, the Forward Collision Avoidance systems had not activated. The contact attempted to apply the parking brake however, the parking brake failed to engage. The contact stated that the vehicle then decelerated independently and she was able to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a hotel. The vehicle had not been diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

While traveling at highway speed on I-95 North around 10AM, the vehicle brake quickly and abruptly activated which reduced the vehicle speed by 15-20 MPH. Within seconds, the vehicle returned to previously set speed with Adaptive cruise activated. This incident occurred while passing a tractor trailer truck. The truck was in the center lane and I was passing on the far left lane. As I started to pass the truck, the brake activated when within 10-20 feet of the truck for a moment then returned to previously set speed (75 MPH). This happened so quickly and unexpectedly, I did not notice any warning indicators on the dash display. Fortunately there were no vehicles closely behind me so there was little risk of an accident this time! Due to this incident, I have not used adaptive cruise since nor have I taken the vehicle to a dealer.
THE POWER RUNNING BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS MALFUNCTIONING. TWICE IT HAS OPENED AND THEN STARTED SHUTTING WITH THE DOOR OPEN AND MY CHILD'S GOOD ON IT, ALMOST CLOSING WITH THEIR FOOT IN IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. I AM TAKING IT IN AGAIN NEXT WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TURNED ON AND WAS IN PARK.
Mileage: 45,000
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, I AM STANDING AT THE BACK WITH THE LIFTGATE OPEN AND THE LIFTGATE STARTS TO CLOSE.
Mileage: 3,000
THE VEHICLE SHAKES/VIBRATES WHEN DRIVING OVER 65MPH, GETS WORSE THE FASTER YOU GO. SEEMS WORSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER WE PURCHASED FROM AND THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE, JUST SAID ITS SOMETHING WITH THE TIRES OR RIMS. TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND SAME THING, SAID IT WAS RIMS OR TIRES GIVING VIBRATION. BRAND NEW VEHICLE!! SHOULD BE A SMOOTH RIDE, AND DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHY IT DOES THIS, AND HAS NO SOLUTIONS OTHER THAN GOOD LUCK. STARTED LAST SUMMER, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. DEALERS DIDN'T NOTICE ANY DAMAGE OR ANYTHING NOTABLE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE.
Mileage: 3,622
