All my dash lights turn off u can drive it but all my dash light is off the abs light its on
When my vehicle is in reverse the back up camera shuts off or shows inverted.
The back up camera blackouts every so often. Backing out of a parking spot then the screen blacked out and almost hit a person that walked behind the vehicle. No, it hasn’t been inspected but there is a recall on backup cameras from Ford, on several different models from 2015 to 2023 which my 2014 explorer is experiencing. No warning at all. It just started to blackout. It started couple months ago.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while attempting to obtain an extended warranty plan, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. My vehicle has dual A/C , front and rear. The rear A/C can only be turned on from the touchscreen. My touchscreen went out about a week ago. I called the dealer to ask if there was another way to turn on the rear A/C and the answer was no. I asked what I had to do and the answer was to schedule an appointment so they could check it but I was going to get charged. I live in deep south Texas and it gets very hot down here. The rear A/C is a must. I don't think it's right that i have to spend thousands of dollars to replace my touchscreen just to be able to turn on my rear A/C unit. My passengers have been feeling lightheaded when riding in the back seats without A/C. Ford needs to put a button apart from the touchscreen to turn the rear A/C on and off.
I was driving my explorer in a residential area when my power steering assist went out, causing me to not be able to control the steering wheel. I had 3 passengers in the vehicle at the time. I came close to crashing into a ditch but was able to stop the vehicle. It terrified me and my passengers. I struggled to steer it to a restaurant parking lot. After my power steering stopped working, and alarm went off on the dash and said "steering assist fault" needs serviced. I had the explorer towed to AschenBach Ford in Wytheville, Virginia. The Ford service department said that the bar and all electrical steering needs replaced. There was a recall for some 2014 Ford Explorers with this same problem but my VIN is not apart of those recalls and I feel it should have been because that's what happened to my vehicle. It's recalls 14S06/14V-286.
Problem with sunroof leaking. had car 11 years, at dealership 5 times water coming in from headliner soaking all electrical...radio, AC/heater, sunroof controls. Currently, sunroof is open and will not close. Repair 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and today 5-9-25

Ford explorer had known issues with connectors under the rear passenger seats which they did a recall for certain VIN numbers. They said it only effected certain VPN which were from a specific factory in Chicago I have the same issue and my VIN is not listed and Ford and the dealership will not do anything to help fix the problem. If I pay out of pocket they want 500 dollars to fix it. The issue is Certain 2014-2016 Model Year Explorer Vehicles 2nd Row Inflatable Seat Belt - In all of the affected vehicles, the air bag light may illuminate as a result of a worn or damaged connection to the rear inflatable seat belt connector and if the light is on that means the air bags will not work.
Due to a failed seal between the roof and the trunk door, water has leaked and corroded the exterior of the body over time. The corrosion has caused a hole to develop to the point that when it rains water leaks into the back of the car. As a result water entered the tail lights and caused the tail light to short out on one side. Some roofing tar and duck tape has helped with a temporary fix but it has been a hazardous problem because the leaking water can create a build up of moisture and mold growth within the vehicle. Another problem is the power windows and the power locking and unlocking system have become glitchy and have failed to work at times. The key pad, keyless entry has completely stopped working and the lock mechanism for the driver side of the car has completely fallen apart and can no longer be used. The only way to unlock and lock the car is to use the key lock and unlock buttons. Lastly, the door hinges have ripped off on the passenger door which prevents the door from staying open. The extra bar that helps the door stay open broke off during a relatively moderate winds when the door got caught in a moderate level strength wind gust and completely broke off.
I’m still waiting for the current recall to be corrected. The suspension is worn out. Replaced rear shocks, front struts, lower control arm. This is the worse automobile I’ve ever owned. If possible, I will never buy another ford. The car’s rear back up camera has been replaced and has stopped working again.
Hi my name is [XXX] and Im an owner of a 2014 Ford Explorer sport my vehicle is at the service department for almost 2 months already before i took the vehicle into the dealership to get fix i was going to have a car crash thanks to the front tires of the car. Both front tires locked and the car slide really bad that day the steering wheel went loose and i wasnt able to control the vehicle. The electric steering went out on my way home on a very curvy road. The rack and pinion apparently has failed. Please recall this part to get it fixed before someone gets hurt.
Lane keeping system malfunction. Steering assist malfunction. I have no power steering and it’s hard to control vehicle. Ford diagnosed that I need a new steering rack and sensor.

The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, who determined that water had entered the vehicle through the sunroof and that the wires were wet. The dealer added plastic and glue to the sunroof. Additionally, the vehicle failed to start. There was an abnormal clicking sound while attempting to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the compressor needed to be replaced because the compressor was clogged. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

Steering fault warning message came up service now and stability control lights engaged both on and off, I lost control of my steering and it completely tightened up as I was driving. I was driving 60 miles per hour when this happened. Depending on the severity of the failure, I was completely at risk with colliding with anything on the road. I brought it straight to the dealership where it has been sitting for a week since they are not able to drive it into the garage because the steering is locked up and the wheel will not move even though it will start and engage in drive. They need to actually tow it into the garage to complete diagnostics, I expect from other reports this is an expensive fix, but the risk to my life and others on the road is worth reporting. Ford needs to include this steering fault on the 2014 explorers in a recall. There were no issues with the steering prior to this happening. Ford knows about this issue, how many complaints and near misses is it going to take to fix this problem?
Hi there! We received a letter in the mail about a recall on our EXTERIOR A-PILLAR TRIM which did fall off on its own and ripped of the seal that was on it by my windshield we never received a call from the dealership so they can replace this for us and because it fell off everyday that it has rain water has been getting into my car to the point that I have puddles on the floor of the vehicle water got into my dashboard and blew out my A/C Motor and blew out my sunroof motor which it is wide open now we can’t close it.. I ride around in the suv with it being extremely hot my children are also in the car with us because it is our only means of transportation also the buttons on my radio are messed up due to water getting in… I’ve contacted carvana the place we bought it from about this and they said this is a ford issue because they were suppose to replace this a while back I don’t know what to do or who to contact we can’t really afford to fix it on our own.. I am scared that one day I drive it the airbags will just go off because water is going all through my dash when it rains! I don’t know what else to do!

The contact stated upon exiting and inspecting the vehicle, she noticed burning plastic falling from underneath the passenger's side of the vehicle onto the ground, and there was fire. The contact poured water underneath the vehicle and opened the hood and poured water at the fire location. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries sustained. No police report or fire department report was filed. The contact added water to the coolant reservoir and drove to the residence. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics, where it was diagnosed that the A/C fan had caught on fire due to a stuck clutch bearing. The mechanics informed the contact that the radiator was damaged and was leaking due to the fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Started the car up and all lights and warning lights were going off when I put the car in drive. Shut the car off waited and the same thing occurred. On the 3rd crank the car stated as normal

Hello, yes my vehicle is available upon inspection request. Bell Ford(recall performed) and another shop has inspected the vehicle for the power steering issue. *I had a toe link recall completed at Bell Ford in May, 2022. Since then my vehicle has not been driving as smoothly. Please add this recall back to my vehicle. *The radio/ climate control screen updates and sometimes just goes black when I start the vehicle. Sometimes can take up to 5 mins to turn back on. Please add this to the recall list for my vehicle. *Forward collision warning never worked. ***The power steering went out while myself and my daughter were driving on a busy state highway. I was not going over 60 mph per speed limit. 3 alarms went off while driving. My SUV instantly became very hard to handle. There is no power steering. I went to an auto shop and they told me it was electrical, they couldn’t fix it and gave me a print out of the diagnosis. I’ve researched the problem and see this is a common issue and usually happens where it’s not safe to just stop as the vehicle suggests. I have pictures was trying to add but it won’t let me select that option. Please add this to the recall list for my vehicle.
APIM unit and plastic body components 2014 Explorer, Sync2 v3.10 Symptoms: Malfunction of power window controls, radio controls, rear camera and vent controls. The APIM also controls many other safety functions, such as safety lanes, park assist, backup guides, gps, cruise control, trailer/tow information, and other warnings/features. It is notable that Ford has issued recalls for the APIM due to safety issues in different year Explorer, as well as F150, F250, F350, Escape, Expedition, Fusion and Lincoln models Navigator and MK2 models, to name a few. This has been reported once, I spoke with a Ford representative and he setup an appointment at the dealership that was to setup an appoint for diagnosis before they setup a repair/replacement appointment. An appointment to setup an appointment to setup a diagnosis appointment to setup a repair appointment. Seriously, what is up with that? Finally, plastic window components had to be replaced. Ford issued a recall on these items but it was after we had the repairs completed. They refused reimbursement.

My 2014 Ford Explorer was manufactured 07/13 and is showing signs of a power steering issue. This started in October 2022 and is ongoing. The power steering seems to go in and out while driving but seems to be fine after the car has sat or not been running. This is happening daily. No warning lights have ever come on during the power steering lose. The car intermittently will get harder to steer and at times the wheel dramatically pulls to the right and then left while it is trying to return to a straight line. This has caused me to go left of center because it is so erratic. Turning from a stop is extremely difficult. I have contacted the dealer and have been told my vehicle does not have a recall for such issue. Through research I see this is a known problem with same vehicles of newer and later years. This is a job that will likely cost 1800 to 2000 and that is not acceptable when FORD has known of this problem. A simple google search reflects many 2014 Ford vehicles with steering issues. If my car does not fit into the original recall - I would like to know what Ford changed as it pertains to EPAS system from 2/28/2012 to the date my vehicle was manufactured in 2013. Thank you In May 2014, Ford Motor Company issued a recall for the 2011-2013 Ford Explorers for a defect in the power steering system. The affected vehicles may experience an intermittent connection in the electric power steering gear, which can cause a loss of the motor position sensor signal resulting in a shut-down of the power steering assist.
Electric Power Steering locked up. Almost killed me my fiance. And my 2 kids.
The power steering went out and it was discovered the steering rack and pinion need replaced. This is available for inspection upon request. It is unknown when this can be fixed so I am without a car until then. Upon research this is a common problem for this year and model of car. There was no warning messages, I just all of a sudden did not have power steering and was not able to steer my vehicle.
Electric flickering occasionally smells like something burning. No warnings alerted. Interior lights/radio dim or go off or flash. Transmission problems, jerking, loss of power Cabin fills with exhaust fumes especially when stopped Unknown occurrence dates has been happening for at least 2yrs
While operating my vehicle at approximately 40 mph, I experienced partial loss of steering (hard steering) making the vehicle difficult to control. The partial loss of steering experienced put myself and the safety of others in my vehicle at the and on the roadway at risk for a crash. I immediately took the vehicle into a repair shop to have it inspected to ascertain what the issue was. Upon completion of the inspection, it was determined that the rack and pinion failed and needed to replaced. Prior to the loss of steering, I DID NOT receive any warning indications on my dash about steering issues or steering failures.
Re: 2014 Ford Explorer VIN: [XXX] I am writing to you with a problem with the Ford vehicle described above.. The two problems I am having seem to have been programmed into the onboard computer to fail after a certain time or mileage. I will address each problem individually starting with the most hazardous one first. The onboard navigation system utilizes a SD card program that becomes outdated as time passes. I have received numerous mailing from Ford notifying me that the original navigation system is outdated and that I should update to a current one at a cost to me of $149.00. The original system works fine for me and I felt no need to upgrade until the system began getting interrupted by prompts to update (see FIGURE 1 below). When the prompt appears the navigation system is no longer operational. The most recent of these interruptions became a serious and hazardous situation. I was driving on the interstate nearing an interchange to switch to a different highway. I was relying on the navigation system to direct me to the correct exit and this is when the prompt appeared. The navigation system was now useless and will only resume normal operation if the vehicle is shut off and restarted. You don’t do this at 70+ mph! My only option was to use my phone which meant I had to program it and while driving this is dangerous. I feel Ford was being irresponsible by programming the prompts into the onboard computer that disable the navigation system in return for the sale of an updated SD card. The water then leaked into the moon roof motor causing it to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the moon roof front drains were clogged. THIS IS NOT HAPPENING DUE TO FAILURE TO MAINTENANCE OR DUE TO LACK OF TAKING CARE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND THE HISTORY PROVES IT! THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2011-2013 MODEL FOR THIS BUT NOW THAT IT IS CONTINUING, IT IS NOW THE OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY? THIS EFFECTS THE DRIVING AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. YOU HAVE LOW TURNING RADIUS, IT DISENGAGES ALL THE ADVANCED DRIVING MODES, IT ALSO EFFECTS THE BLINKERS. YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE BLINKER DOWN FOR IT TO STAY ON, YOU CANT JUST CLICK THE LEVER AND IT STAYS IN THE BLINKING MODE LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TOO. IF YOU PUT CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE STEERING CAN LOCK UP AND YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO JERK IT TO GET IT OUT OUT AND BE ABLE TO TURN OR EVEN SWERVE. IN ADDITION TO THIS, IT DISPLAYED, 'SERVICE ADVANCETRAC' AND 'COLLISON WARNING NOT AVAILABLE'. MOMENTS LATER MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN OR CONTROL THE WHEEL. WE SAT STRANDED, WITH OUR THREE CHILDREN ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR HOURS UNTIL HELP COULD COME. WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE AT 70 MPH, I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF MY STEERING MAKING THIS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND I, AND THE DRIVERS SURROUNDING US. THE CAR DOORS WON'T LOCK, CAUSE IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS 'CLOSED'.THE KEYLESS ENTRY ALARM WILL RANDOMLY GO OFF, WHILE WE'RE IN THE HOUSE, CAUSE THE CAR ALL THE SUDDEN SAYS THE 'DOOR IS AJAR'. THIS CAN BE HAZARDOUS AS I DRIVE AS THE DOORS WON'T LOCK AND WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY CLAIM THE POWER STEERING GEAR NEEDS REPLACED AND THAT THIS MODEL/YEAR DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR ANY STEERING RELATED RECALLS. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT 2011-2013 EXPLIRERS HAVE A POWER STEERING ASSIST RECALL. MULTIPLE SHOPS CLAIM THAT THIS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE NEWER FORDS. AT THE TUNE OF 2700 BUCKS FOR PARTS AND LABOR I AM HOPING A RECALL CAN HAPPEN BECAUSE THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE WITH THESE GEARS.

THIS CAUSES NUMEROUS RE-ROUTES INCLUDING THOSE THAT MIGHT NOT BE SAFE TO CONDUCT. THE HEADS UP DISPLAY SYSTEM CONSTANTLY BLANKS OUT AND RESETS LOOSING ALL SAFTEY INFORMATION, SOMETIMES IT STAYS BLANK A LONG TIME. FORD HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR APIN SYSTEM THEY KNOW IS FAULTY TO 5 YEARS I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO SERVICE BOTH UNDER WARRANTY I PAID DEDUCTIBLE FOR AS WELL AS IN 2018 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED; THEY APPLIED THE SAME UPDATES OVER AND OVER AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE FAULTY APIN SYSTEM. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS IN FOR A NON-RELATED REPAIR, THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE AND THAT THE LIGHT ACTUALLY INDICATES A FAULT WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AROUND FOR PROBABLY 40,000 MILES WITH FAULTY AIRBAGS IN THE CAR IN WHICH I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I CALLED FORD WHO EXPRESSED LITTLE TO ZERO CONCERN UNTIL I LET THEM KNOW I WOULD BE FILING A COMPLAINT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE ISSUE IS THAT THE CONNECTORS ARE CORRODED (THE INDICATION WAS MULTIPLE CONNECTORS ARE CORRODED). THIS SEEMS LIKE A REALLY BIG ISSUE - I LIVE IN OREGON, SO NOT QUITE A DRY CLIMATE, BUT IT'S NOT ABNORMAL. THE PERSON I SPOKE TO AT FORD WAS NAMED "ANN"

BOUGHT MY 2014 EXPLORER BRAND NEW FROM KOONS FORD AND RIGHT OFF THE BAT, THE DRIVER SEATS STARTED SQUEAKING AT ABOUT 5K MILES. AFTER 2 YEARS, STARTED HEARING WHINNING/SQUEALING NOISES FROM THE REAR WHEELS, KOONS ALSO COULD NOT DIAGNOSE/FIX. I GAVE UP ON KOONS AND TOOK IT TO TED BRITT, WHO ALSO COULD NOT DIAGNOSE/FIX. HAD MY 45K SERVICE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT BAD ODOR SMELL IN THE CAR AT TED BRITT AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING IS IN GREAT CONDITION, 5K MILES LATER, REAR WHEELS HAS GRINDING NOISES WHEN DRIVING AT LOW OR HIGH SPEEDS AND THE BAD ODOR IS STILL AROUND, MY 8 YEAR OLD SON COMPLAINS ABOUT THE CAR GIVING HIM HEADACHES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 DAYS AGO AND FOUND OUT THAT MY ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEM WAS LOCKED, THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACING AND ALSO A NEW BELT. TOTAL COST $2,309.30. I WAS DEVASTATED. WE DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND. I CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURER AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER TO GIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE STOPPED TO LET PASSENGERS OFF. STOPPED ENGINE. RESTARTED THE ENGINE, STARTED TO PULL AWAY FROM CURVE AND POWER STEERING FAILED AND RECEIVED STEERING ASSIST FAULT ALARM. VEHICLE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY DRIVEN WITH NO POWER STEERING. ALSO, NOTED THE FOLLOWING: TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCED TRACK. ANOTHER RELATED FAILURE IS THAT THE SIGNAL LIGHTS NO LONGER WOULD STAY ON WHEN INITIATED CREATING AN ADDITIONAL SAFETY ISSUE. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THEY REPORTED THAT THEY HAD ONE ON ORDER AND WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR INSTALLATION IN 3-WEEKS. UPON SEARCHING THE WEB, FOUND THAT FORD HAS HAD THIS, OR SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 2011-2013 POWER STEERING AND HAS JUST ISSUED A RECALL FOR 2011-2013 VEHICLES. HAD THIS FAILURE HAPPENED DURING A U-TURN OR A FRONT TIRE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, IT WOULD LIKELY HAVE ENDED UP WITH A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION, THIS IS A VEHICLE DESIGNED TO GO OFF-ROAD. IF A FAILURE OF THIS TYPE OCCURRED OFF ROAD, SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR OCCUPANT INJURY COULD OCCUR. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT, ON THE SURFACE, APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS. *TR

TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO SERVICE THE NEXT MORNING - THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK 6 MORE TIMES. ONCE AGAIN FOR LOOSING ALL DASH LIGHTS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD - SINCE THEN, MY LIGHTING IN MY VEHICLE DOES NOT LIGHT UP AS IT USE TO. SOMETIMES MY DASH LIGHTS COME ON WHEN OPENING THE DRIVER DOOR, SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT - SOMETIMES MY LCD SCREEN WILL LIGHT UP, SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ONCE, BUT I FEEL THERE IS STILL AN ISSUE. IT ALL MY DASH LIGHTS LIT UP FOR THE FIRST 6 DAYS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, WHY WOULD THEY NOT ALL LIGHT UP NOW AFTER THE INCIDENT OF LOSING THE DASH LIGHTS??? I HAVE ASKED FOR A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE - AS AFTER SPEAKING WITH AN ATTORNEY I HAVE A LEMON LAW CLAIM, A SAFETY CLAIM, AND A WARRANTY CLAIM. IF MY VEHICLE DOES NOT GET REPLACED OR SOME MONEY BACK FROM FORD - AS I HAVE DROVE MY CAR FOR 13 FULL DAYS OUT OF A MONTH - I WILL BE TAKING THIS TO COURT AS I CAN ONLY SEE FURTHER ISSUES DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
