Engine over heat warning while driving and I checked there is a coolant leakage.

Engine stopped working I wanna know if there is a warranty
Noticing a problem with the steering and wheel suspension that is affecting other Ford explorers between 2018 and 2025. Engine oil blow by. Causing oil to leak and ending up under the carriage and on the back of the vehicle. Rear camera problems.
Vehicle has code C0063-64ABS. Also has a problem with the restraint control module and ABS module causing the front tires to lock and make the car slide. I was about to get into a car crash on Oct 24,2024 because the cars front tires locked and just slide from one side to other the steering wheel went loose and I wasn't able to control the car I took it to ford dealership where they told me that it has the code that appears at the beginning of this message
Making a right turn I was startled by a vehicle running a red light. Front wheel passenger side cleared the curb. Right rear tire jumped the curb jolted back to ground. I looked at tire pressure gauges and no leaks were evident. Being on a single lane road I continued driving looking for a turn in place after traveling about a quarter of a mile an engine rattle developed and there was faint smell of smoke. I traveled another block and turned into a dollar general parking lot. The entrance was on an incline and the car stopped. I had just purchased a new battery a week before and had an oil change about 3 weeks before. The car refused to start. I called triple A and had it towed to dealer. They looked at car and could not come up with a rational reason and doubted car stopped because of violent rear contact with curb at right rear wheel was cause of engine seizing. I called USAA my insurance company their investigating agent agreed. My car is serviced at this dealer and I follow all of the maintenance guidelines I have the records as well as dealer. The car has 125,000 miles and has been well maintained. I am curious if there are any other reports this has happened with 2014 Ford Explorer or any other vehicle. I find it hard to accept such a violent jolt of the running engine did not cause something to fall loose on the running engine. The dealer and appraiser found the car oil full and in pristine condition. There was no frame damage.Turning the crank towards rear they hear metal falling into oil pan. Your thoughts?

The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the compressor needed to be replaced because the compressor was clogged. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case. VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR INTO MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT A CODE POINTS TO A PROBLEM WITH THE TIMING CHAIN/CAM POSITION SENSOR. PRIOR TO THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON CAR PREVIOUSLY HAD (2) RANSOM ISSUES THAT NOW AFTER GETTING THE DIAGNOSIS MAKES SENSE WHY THE CAR WAS AT TIMES MAKING A FLUTTER SOUND WHEN STARTING ALONG WITH THE ENGINE RANDOMLY AT TIMES ACTING LIKE TO WAS GOING TO STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I TOLD FORD AND THE MECHANIC ABOUT IT PREVIOUSLY BUT THEY BOTH SAID AS LONG AS THERE'S NO ALARMS KEEP DRIVING IT. THE VEHICLE STILL DRIVES GOOD, BUT I WAS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL REPAIRS MADE. THE REPAIR IS $4,000.00 AND PUTTING THAT KIND OF MONEY INTO A VEHICLE THAT IS CURRENTLY VALUED AT $8 TO 10K WITH 136,000 BASED OFF MY RESEARCH IS NOT PRUDENT CONSIDERING OTHER THINGS THAT WILL EVENTUALLY NEED EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF THE VEHICLE ALONG WITH KEEPING UP ON ALL SERVICES. DISCUSSED WITH A COUPLE EXPERIENCED FORD MECHANICS AND THIS REPAIR IS UNFORTUNATELY VERY COMMON. I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW FOR YOUR INFORMATION. YES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THE CAR PROMPTLY INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC.

Water is leaking from front of engine and into oil from water pump being told it will cost 1600 to over 2000 dollars to fix
Fumes are leaking into the cabin of the car. Possibly issues with an exhaust leak that is causing nausea and headaches when driving vehicle.
Car was sitting idle when a fan inside the engine compartment starting being very loud. Sound went away when car started moving. Noticed coolant was empty. Filled with coolant and made a 5 mile trip. Checked again and coolant was empty again.
My car keeps running out of coolant yet I’m leaving no puddles anywhere
I own a 2014 Ford Explorer. When driving home on November 4th the engine coolant light came on and there was white smoke coming from under the hood and the coolant was leaking under the vehicle. I had the vehicle towed to my local mechanic who said that the water pump needs to be replaced. He does not do this type of work so I'm unsure if there is additional damage since he stopped his inspection there. I have to have it towed to another place. I'm seeing this same issue with many vehicles with the same make/model and felt it should be reported. I did contact Ford and made a complaint.
Repeated catalytic converter failure. Issue was repaired at least twice. Converter failure caused both turbos to need replacement and has now caused engine damage. This appears to be a common issue with this engine model.
Water pump coolant leak. I’m experiencing this problem and have seen that Fire has known about this issue and hasn’t recalled it and it’s causing engine failure and leaving consumers to fort the 2000 bill to fix since it’s internal. Does needs to recall and fix this issue and replace the pump.
Under moderate to heavy acceleration exhaust fumes are pouring into the cabin. The harder you accelerate the more you smell. Gives me a headache every time.

Every time while accelerating and RPMs reach above 2500 the cab of the vehicle fills with an odor . After doing a lot of research we have come to realize it is carbon monoxide. There are several open law suits and complaints about this already. When we purchased the vehicle in May of 2021 it was taken to the Ford dealership and they told us everything in the vehicle was fine. The car is available for inspection at any point. No warning lights or anything have come on at all!
Ever since I purchased my 2014 Ford Explorer, I noticed a foul smell inside the vehicle when accelerating. It seemed fine when driving normally, but when accelerating into traffic or whenever RPMs are increasing, it’s definitely noticeable. While driving my 2014 Ford Explorer from South Florida to Millegville Georgia the high temp Light came on and the engine slowed on I-16. Managed to get off The Interstate at Macon Ga. Almost caused accidents in traffic. Finally got to Ford dealer said water pump failed like so many others. $2600 estimate. End of my trip, had to rent car to get home car Still in shop in Georgia waiting for repairs.

I was driving my car stopped at a gas station went to leave and had no power steering. Replaced the power steering angle sensor still didn't fix the problem had to have the rack and pinion replaced all in cost almost $3000. Now my car is leaking coolant from the motor where the water pump is located
Ford built the motor with a water pump when it leaks leaks right into the crank case where the oil is so the motor seizes up and that’s what happened to my car now my car is shot
IN 11-2022, (NOVEMBER 2022), I NOTICED NO HEAT IN CABIN AND AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, FOUND LOW COOLANT IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR. I ADDED COOLANT BUT STARTED NOTICING COOLANT LEAKS ON DRIVEWAYS. HAD VEHICLE CHECKED BY FORD DEALER, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW, AND REGULARLY SERVICED; AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WATER PUMP INSIDE THE 3.5L ENGINE IS BAD WITH A COST OF $4,900 TO FIX. IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS FORD EXPLORER VEHICLES FROM 2011 - 2019 WITH THE 3.5L ENGINE WITH THIS ISSUE. REQUEST INVESTIGATION AND RECALL BY FORD.
When turning on the rear Auxililary climate control the cabin of the vehicle had a large amount of exhaust smell enter the cabin.
My ford Explorer has a 3.5L V6 motor. This motor was designed with the water pump installed in the crank shaft. As a result of this when the water pump fails and leaks coolant can leak into the motor and mix with the oil costing thousands of dollars in damages.

Faulty water pump went out on roadtrip, hours away from home. It left me and my children stranded for 4 hours in 100° conditions. No engine light or indicators came on to warn there was a problem. Coolant mixed in with oil and engine started misfiring. I immediately turned vehicle off until a Mechanic could diagnose the problem.

Went to start my 2014 Explorer on and it struggled 3 times before turning on. It showed a "Check Brake System" light in the dashboard for a quick second but other than that the car seemed to be ok. I turned on my information panel to check the temperature gauge and it was normal. Kept it on that while driving my kids to school to make sure if I had to pull over I could. I immediately brought it to Hemborg Ford in Norco, CA. When I first brought it in and they popped my hood my coolant tank was below the recommended line and the service advisor immediately said it's most likely my water pump. They had my SUV for over 24 hours for testing and sure enough it's the water pump. Ford decided to install the water pumps INSIDE the engine rather than outside. This is a very dangerous move as the coolant and oil can mix which can cause a vehicle to shut down unexpectedly. Thankfully I trusted my intuition and took it in when I noticed something off and didn't ruin my engine or overall car. I was quoted $2900 to fix this issue. $2500 in LABOR and $400 in PARTS. This is because the job can take up to 14 hours to complete start to finish due to the location of the pump. This is ridiculous. We need something done. Soooooo many people are paying thousands of money out of pocket for something that shouldn't even be a problem. It’s a dang shame you spend thousands of dollars for a Ford Explorer and because the people that built it were not very smart the people that own them are having to pay thousands of dollars to replace the water pump. And Ford will not recall this or help with the cost. No warning lights come on and then we are stuck with the cost. I will never own another Fire in my life time.
Exhaust smell in passenger compartment while driving; similar to sulfur. Feel safety at risk due to smell causing headaches/nausea; concerned about carbon monoxide or other hazardous materials. Vehicle brought to dealer on 12/13/2021 and issue confirmed. Dealer aware of similar complaints across this vehicle type; TSB is available, so Ford is aware, however not catagorized by Ford as a safety issue. Dealer "reset" HVAC system, installed plugs on tailgate and installed tape on rear body module. Dealer stated additional repairs may be necessary as these "fixes" don't always work. No warning lamps, messages or other notifications. Issue first began November 27, 2021.

In failure while driving on highway and it was found that the issue was due to a faulty water pump
7/20/2020 and before, dashboard light came on with message "check charging system" then steering wheel locked up, turned off engine, waited 2-3 seconds, turned back on and its okay. Kept doing this once in a while, bought new battery, message kept coming on. 07/28/2021 message came on saying "something is draining the juice out of battery". This message came on after we bought a new battery. Told Ford company when getting oil change, they said my battery is charged okay. They don't know whats causing it.

THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A GAVE A READING OF P0016, WHICH IS A CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. TOOK MY EXPLORER TO FRED BEANS FORD IN MECHANICSBURG, PA. FOR INSPECTION. THEY TOLD ME THE CAM PHASERS ARE COMPUTER CONTROLLED CAMSHAFT GEARS. THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SYSTEM OPERATES WHEN THE ENGINE COMPUTER (PCM) SENDS OIL PRESSURE TO ONE OR THE OTHER CHAMBER OF THE PHASER VIS CAM TIMING SOLENOIDS. WHEN A CAM PHASER GOES BAD, THE VARIABLE CONTROL TIMING (VCT) SOLENOIDS WOULD BE DESTROYED, AND THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT (ECU) WOULD NO LONGER BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE PHASERS, WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ENGINES TIMING WOULD BE AFFECTED. THE CHECK ENGINE CODE WAS HARD STORED IN THE VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN A FAILED EMMISSION TEST. THE RECOMMENDED REPAIRS WILL NEED TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE STATE EMMISSION TEST. THE TOTAL FOR ALL REPAIRS PLUS INSPECTION COMES TO A TOTAL OF $3,995,05 BEFORE TAX. TO ME THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE MY EXPLORER IS RUNNING GREAT. THE VEHICLE HAS ON 80,000 MILES ON IT AND OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED EVERY 6-7 THOUSAND MILES. I UNDERSTAND THE F-150 HAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND QUALIFIES FOR A RECALL WITH THE SAME BASIC ENGINE. TO ME, THIS IS RIDICULOUS. NOBODY WOULD BUY A FORD KNOWING THEY HAD TO DUMP $4000 INTO AT 80,000 MILES. I HAD TOOK MY TRUCK TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL WITH THE TOE LINK TO BE REPAIRED AND YESTERDAY ON 01/30/2021 I WAS DRIVING AND THE ENGINE AND STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO DROP THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND ONCE I HIT THE HIGHWAY AND I STARTED TO DRIVE OVER 50 MILES IT MADE IT WORST, MY TRUCK WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THAT RECALL REPAIRED.

MY WIFE CONTINUES TO GET HEADACHES, DESPITE HAVING THE 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM' THAT FORD PROVIDES DONE TO ELIMINATE CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE IN HER CAR. WE BOUGHT A CARBON MONOXIDE SENSOR THAT READS DOWN TO 1PPM AND SHE IS GETTING 50-60PPM OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CAB WHILE DRIVING HER VEHICLE. THE SAME SENSOR WAS PLACED IN 4 OTHER CARS (2 FORDS, 1 SUBARU; 1 TOYOTA) AND ALL 4 OTHER CARS READ 0 PPM. FORD IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THERE IS A PROBLEM AT ALL. WE CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CORRECTED AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR SIMPLY SAYS 'I'VE NEVER HEARD OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CAB.' THOUGHT LESS THAN A YEAR AGO THEY WERE THE SAME DEALERSHIP TO DO THE 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM' FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.

THE WATER PUMP IN MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER 3.5L V6 ENGINE BEGAN LEAKING COOLANT. THE WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 79,000 MILES. I BECAME AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AFTER GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. THE COOLANT RESERVOIR HAD TO BE FILLED AND I WAS INFORMED OF A POSSIBLE COOLANT LEAK. TWO WEEKS AFTER GETTING THE COOLANT FILLED, MY RADIATOR FAN BEGAN RUNNING FAST AND LOUD. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD I HAD A LEAKING WATER PUMP. THERE WAS ONLY ONE INCH LEFT OF COOLANT IN THE RESERVOIR AFTER JUST BEING FILLED UP. I WAS THEN TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 14-16 HOURS OF LABOR TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP WHICH ITSELF COSTS LESS THAN $150. I WAS REFERRED BY THE SHOP TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE WORK NEEDED WAS EXTENSIVE AND BECAUSE IT INVOLVED A FORD PART. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND REFERRED ME TO FORD. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE WATER PUMP LEAK. BASICALLY, THE ENGINE HAD TO BE TAKEN APART TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP, BECAUSE THE PUMP IS MADE PART OF THE ENGINE ITSELF. I BELIEVE THE FORD ENGINE AND THE WATER PUMP IS DEFECTIVE. THE GASKETS OR BEARINGS IN THE WATER PUMP FAIL AND THERE ARE WEEP HOLES IN THE WATER PUMP WHICH ALLOW COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE AND MIX WITH THE ENGINE OIL. MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. I SPENT $1,839.82 TO FIX A SINGLE WATER PUMP! THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MANUFACTURING AND DESIGN DEFECT DUE TO THE BURDEN IT PLACES ON THE PUBLIC. THERE ARE ALSO SAFETY ISSUES CAUSED BY THIS DUE TO VEHICLES BEING SO AFFECTED BY THE COOLANT LEAKS THE ENGINES SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE IN USE. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN BACK INTO THE VEHICLE AND, FIVE MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE BACK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CHILD BECAME RESPONSIVE WHEN THE CONTACT ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW. THE CHILD WAS TAKEN TO THE PEDIATRICIAN WHO RULED OUT THAT THE CHILD MIGHT HAVE SUFFERED A SEIZURE. BOTH THE MOTHER AND THE PEDIATRICIAN SUSPECTED THAT THE CHILD MIGHT HAVE SUFFERED FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE DEALER WAS CALLED (FESLER AUTO MALL IN FAIRFIELD, IOWA, 641-472-2161), BUT DID NOT CALL BACK AS PROMISED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.

THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TWICE, WITH THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMING THE SMELL. AFTER THIS WORK WAS PERFORMED, I STILL TO THIS DAY AM SUFFERING FROM EXHAUST FUMES AND PHYSICAL ILLNESS DIRECTLY RELATED TO MY FORD EXPLORER. ALL REPAIR ORDERS FROM INVOLVED FORD DEALERSHIPS ARE IN MY POSSESSION CONFIRMING EXHAUST FUMES ARE STILL ENTERING THE CABIN. FROM THE TIME I TOOK OWNERSHIP IN OCTOBER 2016, I HAVE EXPERIENCED PHYSICAL ILLNESS WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR AT A TIME. I GET EXTREMELY LIGHTHEADED AND NAUSEATED, WHICH HAS CAUSED ME TO FREQUENTLY STOP THE VEHICLE AND VOMIT. MY PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SYMPTOMS WHEN RIDING IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I STOP AT A SAFE LOCATION AND REMOVE MYSELF TO FRESH AIR, AND THE SYMPTOMS SOON PASS AND I AM ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. RECENTLY, I HAVE TRAVELED FROM MASSACHUSETTS TO VERMONT IN MY EXPLORER. THE MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING TRIP IT WAS ME AS WELL AS MY GIRLFRIEND. AFTER AROUND AN HOUR OF DRIVING AT 60MPH, MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE FEELING VERY DIZZY AND BECAME NAUSEATED, SO I OPTED TO STOP AND RELAX AT A REST STOP FOR FRESH AIR PRIOR TO CONTINUING MY TRIP TO VERMONT. I HAVE INSTALLED A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN MY VEHICLE, WHICH HAS ACTIVATED MORE THAN ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING. AT THIS TIME I AM NEGOTIATING WITH FORD'S OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL TO PERFORM A BUYBACK OF MY EXPLORER AND REPLACE IT WITH A DIFFERENT VEHICLE.

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED UP WITH SERVICE CALL, SERPENTINE BELL WAS IN GOOD CONDITION, BUT BELT TENSIONER SPRING HAD FAILED. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 57,000 MILES. SEEMS EXCESSIVELY EARLY FOR THIS TYPE OF PART TO FAIL.

I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FORD FOR EASTER EGG HUNTS, SO I AND MY FAMILY ARE WAITING FOR A RECALL. IN THE MEANWHILE, WE ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN. WE HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY ONE LAW FIRM SO FAR THAT IS INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OVER THIS ISSUE. WE WOULD RATHER HAVE FORD FIX THE PROBLEM. PURCHASED A 2014 FORD EXPLORER IN FEBRUARY 2014, AND WITHIN WEEKS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE I STARTED TO NOTICE A FOUL SMELL ENTERING THE CABIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER ACCELERATION. IF ACCELERATION OCCURS QUICKLY, WITH A HIGHER THEN NORMAL RPM OCCURRING, THE SMELL BECOMES WORSE. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MAC HAIK FORD IN HOUSTON FOR REPAIR. THE FIRST TWO VISITS WERE WERE NON-PRODUCTIVE, AS THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. ON THE THIRD VISIT, I ASKED THAT THEY TECHNICIAN GO ON A TEST DRIVE WITH ME IN THE CAR. THIS VISIT FINALLY RESULTED IN AN ADMISSION FROM THE TECHNICIAN THAT HE COULD ALSO SMELL THE ODOR, AND THEY AGREED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE AND IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE. AFTER A FEW DAYS, I WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE HAD BEEN CORRECTED BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL VENT LINE TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WITHIN HOURS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE BACK, IT HAD BECOME OBVIOUS THAT A PERMANENT FIX WAS NOT INSTALLED, AND THE ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR REGULARLY OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS.

WITH THE FREQUENCY OF THE PROBLEM ON THIS TRIP, I REALIZED I'VE SMELLED IT BEFORE BUT JUST ASSUMED I WAS DRIVING PAST A SEWAGE PROBLEM OR TREATMENT FACILITY. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR THAT WOULD CAUSE A SMELL LIKE THAT. UPON GOOGLING WHAT MIGHT CAUSE THE PROBLEM, I FOUND A LOT OF INFO ON THE ISSUE, INCLUDING A FORD SERVICE BULLETIN (ATTACHED), LAWSUITS AND YOUR ORGANIZATION'S INVESTIGATION OF THE ISSUE. BASED ON WHAT I READ, I FELT I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FROM WHOM I BOUGHT THE CAR AND WHO SERVICES THE CAR AND THEY EVENTUALLY FOUND A BULLETIN THAT COVERS THE ISSUE BUT BECAUSE MY CAR IS RECENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY, SAID I NEED TO PAY FOR THE INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE FIX(ES). I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT EITHER AND AM NOW CONCERNED WHETHER THERE IS ACTUALLY A FIX. GIVEN THE KNOWLEDGE FORD HAS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I WOULD EXPECT FORD TO FIX THIS AT THEIR COST . . . I BROUGHT IT IN TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY IMMEDIATELY ACKNOWLEDGED THE SMELL AND GAVE ME A LOANER. THEY HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AND ARE CURRENTLY WAITING FOR THE REPAIR PARTS BUT THEY ARE ON BACKORDER. I WAS TOLD THAT POLICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME THING. I JUST RECEIVED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NOTICE SO I IMAGINE THIS WILL EVENTUALLY BE A RECALL. IN THE MEANTIME I CANNOT DRIVE MY OWN VEHICLE WITHOUT RISKING MY HEALTH. THE CAUSE TO ME IS UNKNOWN, I HAVE READ THAT IT IS A DEFECT IN THE ENGINEERING OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM.

I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER (WHICH HAS NOW BEEN CLOSED), AND NOTES OF MY CONCERNS WERE MADE ON THE CASE. ON 10/11/2016 I AT 1530 EDT, I WAS PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION TURNING RIGHT, WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING FROM MY LEFT. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAULT" ALERT. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER (THROTTLE RESPONSE) AND THE APPROACHING TRAFFIC HAD TO LOCK UP THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID A BROADSIDE COLLISION!. I HAD MY WIFE, 10YR OLD DAUGHTER AND 12YR OLD SON IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. HAD A COLLISION OCCURRED MY SON WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE VEHICLE WENT BACK TO THE PALM BAY FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT 10/12/2016 AT 0900 EDT. THE THROTTLE BODY HAD FAILED AGAIN AS PREDICTED, THE VEHICLE IS STILL THERE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE AND RECEIVED TWO CASE NUMBERS NOW. 1: CAS-10814941-Q8T7Z5, 2: CAS-10830198. I TRIED TO GET FORD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND TRADE IN ON A NEW ONE AS THIS IS AN "UNSAFE"VEHICLE. THEY WILL NOT HELP US AND THIS THROTTLE BODY ISSUE IS AN EPIDEMIC! AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH THE CAR OUT OF SERVICE AND MANY MONTHS THERE WAS NO SOLUTION. UNSATISFIED I DECIDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN 2014 FOR THE FUME SMELL ALONG WITH SOME UNRELATED ISSUES. I WAS FORWARDED TO ARBITRATION WHERE IT WAS JUDGED BY THE ARBITRATOR THAT NO ACTION WAS TO BE TAKEN. I CURRENTLY STILL OWN THE FORD EXPLORER AND EXPERIENCE FUME SMELLS. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE ODOR RETURNED AND ONCE AGAIN TURNED THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER PERFORMED A CONTINUATION OF THE SAME TSB. A FEW MONTHS LATER, WHILE PULLING A BOAT, THE ODOR RETURNED. ONCE AGAIN, WE TURNED THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER OWNER AND THE SERVICE TECH DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WERE UNABLE TO DETECT THE SMELL. THE VERY NEXT DAY WHILE PULLING THE BOAT, THE ODOR RETURNED. THE DEALER NOW SAYS THEY DON'T WANT TO PERFORM THE LAST PART OF THE TSB BECAUSE IF THEY SEND FORD A PART THAT'S NOT DEFECTIVE, FORD WILL CHARGE THEM BACK FOR THE PART....MEANWHILE I'M STUCK DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT MAY BE PUTTING SULFUR AND/OR CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. IT IS ALL I COULD DO TO PRESS HARD ENOUGH ON THE BRAKES TO STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEIR DIAGNOSTICS SHOW NOTHING AND THE DEALERSHIP STATES THEY MUST BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM FIRST (DUPLICATE IT). I TOLD HIM IF I MISJUDGE OR AM UNABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP THAT I MAY BE PUSHING UP DAISIES. THEY DO NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT A MECHANIC WOULD LOOK FOR A SENSOR OR SWITCH THAT WOULD DISENGAGE THE TRANS MISSION WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED OR A SENSOR OR CONTROL THAT SLOWS THE ENGINE. EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM IS OPERATING. THESE FUMES ARE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND NOT FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES. ON A RECENT VACATION TO THE NORTHWOODS OF WISCONSIN, OUR 2014 EXPLORER XLT (4X4 V6) WAS RELEASING A NAUSEATING SMELL INTO THE CABIN UNDER HEAVY LOADS, HIGH RPMS, OR RAPID ACCELERATIONS. THE TRIP WAS ABOUT 6 HOURS OF SOLID DRIVING, AND BY THE 3RD HOUR MY WIFE AND I HAD POUNDING HEADACHES AND FELT UNWELL. EXHAUST GAS IS GETTING INTO THE CABIN WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATES OVER 3200 TO 3500 RPM. FORD SAYS THAT THE GAS IS NOT EXHAUST GAS, BUT A STRONG ORDER THAT IS NOT HARMFUL. THEY WILL NOT TELL US WHAT CHEMICAL THE ORDER IS. WHEN I DROVE THE CAR I WAS EXPERIENCING ASTHMA AND HEART PALPITATIONS. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT IT HAD THE 2013 EXPLORER PARTS IN IT AND CHANGED THEM OUT PER THE TSB 12-12-4. IT STILL DID NOT HELP. ANOTHER POST SAID THAT THEY DID USE A MONITOR IN THEIR CAR AND IT WAS EXHAUST. WHEN WE PASS A CAR OR FARM MACHINERY OR ENTER ONTO A FREEWAY, THE EXHAUST SMELL IS SUFFOCATING WHEN IT ENTERS THE CAR CABIN. I BOUGHT MY FORD EXPLORER 2014 ON JULY 1ST 2013. ON AUGUST 1ST, 2013, MY CAR DID NOT MOVE FORWARD WHILE I STARTED THE CAR AND PUT IT TO 'D' (DRIVE) IN A PARKING LOT.
