The recall campaign from Jan 19,2024 Manufacturer Recall Number24S02 NHTSA Recall Number24V031 has been open since 2024 and has not had a remedy become available. In the meantime, my passenger side pillar has become detached, as warned in the recall. Rain leaks into my car and causes visibility issues. This is worrisome because I do have three young children, one in a car seat right behind the passenger side. In addition, the second recall,Oct 13,2025 Manufacturer Recall Number25SA9 NHTSA Recall Number25v695 is also an extreme issue with my vehicle. The backup camera has malfunctioned several times, almost daily at this point. It also will not notify me of something behind me as it's intended to at times. FORD has yet to remedy either of these.

The backup camera is not working which is already a known defect. The sensors in the back of the vehicle also intermittently sound an alert when nothing is behind the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the rear-view camera had started to flicker and eventually had stopped functioning. The contact called a dealer and was informed that parts were not available to repair the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention). The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument cluster had started to fail and was intermittently displaying one or two gauges at a time. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

Parking lights are illuminated and not head lamps for daytime running lights. Was sold by Ford Certified Dealership. Also has no interior lighting for security. BCM replaced, and still has same issue, along with the 3rd row seats not functioning, interior overhead lights not functioning, trailer socket not functioning.

Rear view camera displays a blank or distorted images when vehicle is in reverse. Rear view camera will display a message that the rear view camera is unavailable. A faulty rear view camera can increase the risk of a crash

My backup camera keeps going out and now it’s gone completely out. If it does come up it’s backwards with no assist line and constantly beeping. There are recalls for this same situation with almost all other fords 2015-2019 I think and immune is doing the same exact thing and no recalls???

Back up camera stopped working due to loss of connection with apim, checked camera module works and wiring in rear gate is good. Issue is in chassis wiring.

The current recall of ford backup cameras including this year but not this vehicle type almost exactly matches what happens with this rear view camera. Either is blacks out completely or when it is on it shows the lines curving when In fact you are going straight and the picture can be extremely blurry as well.

This has happened multiple dates. I can't enter that on the next screen. Probably started 9+ months ago. My backup camera goes blank and then back on sporadically. Sometimes, when I put in reverse and sometimes when I'm in the middle of reversing. Sometimes for a couple of seconds (or more) and sometimes until I change gears and go back to reverse. I see there is a recall for some Ford explorer years and was wondering why the 2015 wasn't included. My issues sound similar to the recalled years. Putting in notice in case there are more 2015s like me experiencing likewise issues. Thank you for taking the time to review my issue. Own a 2015 explorer having problems with the rear back up system. The display does not always work, which is a real problem when backing up. The safety of persons and vehicles is greatly put at a higher risk. There are other reports of this happing to other year models, only with recalls for the newer models.

Backup camera went black with words to contact dealership for latest software. The dealership is charging me for a repair that is currently a recall for the exact same issue for new models Not 2015 models. There’s been quite a few customers having same issue as I did my research online. I’ve got my elderly parents to care , I can’t afford the repairs. 😭

Vehicle has parking lights illuminated and not daytime running lights (headlamps). Illegal in most states and ans very dangerous at low light conditions! Ford engineers claim they cannot reconfigure after 6 months of attempting to do so. Major safety issue and legal issue if there is ever an accident involving death.

The rear backup camera is either a blank black screen, or has distorted display. The directional guides do not display combined with a reverse presentation. Sometimes displays, system is malfunctioning, contact your manufacturer.

The reverse backup camera gives a mirror view so the left side of the car appears on the right side of the screen. Making it unsafe to backup because you turn the wrong way if you go by what the camera shows you.

The Backup Camera and dashboard screen are malfunctioning. The dashboard screen is completely black/blank when car is put in reverse. There are no warning lamps on dash or any other messages showing any errors/failures, etc. This is a safety issue, due to blind spots on vehicle. I took car to mechanic and they said this is an "on going issue with Ford, multiple people are having issues. The backup up camera needs to be replaced but that also means the dash board screen and everything else needs to replaced also since all tied together, this is very costly, keep looking for the recall". No need to involve insurance or police as there has not been an accident. I saw the most recent recalls but it did not include the 2015 Explorer it included other 2015 models. This has been happening for a while now probably started happening at 70,000 miles and now I have 115,000 miles. Bought the car when it had 35,000 miles on it.

Recall number 25S42 should include 2015 Ford Explorers. The rearview camera goes blank or is distorted. It causes the driver the inability to see anything behind the vehicle if the object cannot be seen using the mirrors.

The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed that there was water leaking into the interior of the vehicle through the windshield exterior A-pillar trims. The contact then became aware that both A-pillar trims had detached. The contact stated that the water entry had caused extensive damage to the vehicle. The contact stated that the sunroof and the infotainment system were no longer operable. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who did not provide the contact with a diagnosis. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V031000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact also stated that he had received medical treatment for symptoms related to mold exposure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 118,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was restarted on the third attempt; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the body control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

For a few weeks, I thought I had developed an air bubble in my power steering system, as occasionally, steering would have a very slight resistance that I could pull through with minimal effort. I went to check my power steering fluid and upon inspection and research, discovered that my vehicle (a Police Intercepter Utility, equal to a base model Explorer) has electric power steering, not hydraulic. I figured the issue was just a minor quirk of the electrical power steering motor kicking in. A few days ago, my power steering failed completely failed while driving at about 35mph. Only once did the dashboard light up with a warning about servicing advanced stabili-trac and something else closely related. The alert lights went out on their own after about 5 seconds and steering returned to normal. Later the same day, steering became very difficult again with no alert lights and it has remained very difficult to steer the vehicle at any speed since then, identical to the failure of a hydraulic power steering pump. I have not yet talked with Ford or any mechanics about the issue, but I plan to do so swiftly. Upon research, there are at least 280 identical complaints about identical make, model, and year vehicles. It may be time for a formal recall on the affected parts.

Extensive leaking from the windshield area that is causing a significant amount of water to flood the passenger floorboard and the middle console where the screen for the radio, ac/heating control, and navigation system is. The lights on the middle console screen have become wet and are now blinking. The radio and the ac/heating screen is not allowing for any adjustments. The airbag light is now on the driver's console screen. The safety concerns due to the leaking of the windshield or the seals around the windshield would be an sudden loss of vehicle power while driving. Another safety concern is the windshield or the parts of the seals will come lose while operating the vehicle. There is also water leakage coming from the interior lights right above the middle console control panel.

The back up camera works sometimes. If we move the shifter from reverse to N or P back to reverse the camera mostly came back on & stayed on until neutral or drive was chosen. It occasionally has the image upside down which is very dangerous. My wife [XXX] & [XXX] have problems turning our head to view mirrors with difficulty & pain. That’s why we chose the Explorer. It is dangerous as we can’t see traffic traveling either way behind the car, almost causing accidents as we are blind to see vehicles behind & beside the cars moving from the right or left. Our friends also having Ford cars are experiencing the same problems as the 2020 & newer reported camera problems that seem to be under recall soon. The problem exists from earlier models beside the Explorer. We asked our local Ford dealer on a recall but we were told no. They offered to fix the problem by replacing the camera assembly for a cost of $800 to $2000!! No chance or any repair or switch adjustment offered. I feel we & other owners Ford this is a serious safety problem that needs to be fixed by the manufacturer for faulty parts or connectors? The Moonroof/Sunroof’s motor always breaks down in winter due to snow freezing and water entering the roof and engine, I've had it repaired twice at the dealership, but every winter the problem returns, I talked to owners of the same model of vehicle and the same thing happens to them.

The Power Steering was not working and a Low Voltage Warning came on saying power consumption was being reduced. I took the car to a mechanic and he tested the battery and alternator output. They both checked good. After driving for 10-15 minutes, the power consumption reduction turns off and things go back to normal. This happens on almost every drive.

Warning lights that the ABS system was not functioning. Said to see dealer. Dealer said ABS module bad and had to be replaced. Told me could affect my ability to stop without new module could be a safety concern. Told me there is a back log of orders for module and could not give me a date when parts could come in. Said it could be months which leads me to believe many vehicles have this issue. Big concern to me. In addition, the rear back up camera does not always work which I believe is a real safety concern and know many year explorer cameras have malfunctioned and have been recalled. This year explorer should be recalled also. They have many fixes listed on youtube that identify various fixes various engineering issues, For safety of people (especially children) sake, this should be recalled in my opinion.

The backup camera does not come up all the time. Sometimes it shows a blank screen or if it does show the camera picture is on the opposite side then what it show(backwards). Thank you

The car would not accelerate after leaving a light. I had just exited the freeway and the gas pedal would not respond and I was stuck in the middle of a 4 lane highway. A yellow warning wrench appeared on the dash and then a check engine light. The error code is P2111 stating the throttle body stuck open.

I have a 2015 Ford Explorer. I have had it inspected by a mechanic at the dealership where I purchased said vehicle. I also have taken it to Ford dealership in my town. My car runs perfectly fine then it doesn’t. I have been stranded numerous times and I have replaced the battery in the smart key as they said that would be the problem. I have had the computer reset to my car. When it happened last my camera to help me back up stopped and I was almost in a very bad wreck with my children and grandchildren in my car. It just died!!! I am now sitting in a parking lot at 93 degrees and it again won’t start and know one knows why. I have done everything I can and have been told. I don’t hot rod in my vehicle. Someone for the love of god please help me. I don’t have the money to keep doing this not to buy another vehicle.

When driving vehicle at any speed on the dashboard the terrain system failure light appears with a wrench light and the terrain system dial light shuts off when this occurs vehicle losses speed immediately stopping abruptly in traffic have taken to dealership but unable to recreate and I haven't been able to drive with the light one due to loosing ability to continue driving as I must turn off vehicle and reset to be able to drive very unsafe have contacted ford also say they can't help without the light reminding on

The Gear Shift Selector would not register when the Gear Shift was in Park. This condition prevented turning the engine off. A costly repair was paid for and it has since been noted this is a common complaint on Ford Explorers. Another failed Ford design for which they should be held accountable. The complete Gear Shift Assembly was replaced May 12, 2017 53,86 miles

Air bag light comes on intermittently. Current mileage 62,094. Noted 21 prior complaints on your site. Brought to dealer who told me the problem was with a wire harness failure. None of the safety air bags will operate/deploy when this light is on. A faulty harness that had failed will put me and my passengers in serious jeopardy of injury or death in the event of an accident. This diagnosis cost me $149 only to find out it would cost hundreds of dollars more to have the problem fixed. Internet research reveals this problem was addressed in a 2016 technical bulletin 16-0001; Code B141B. We purchased this vehicle as a certified pre-owned vehicle after Ford issued the technical bulletin. No mention of Ford's internal bulletin was made by the dealer at the time of my purchase. Ford has been aware of this problem for years. According to the dealership technician there is no formal recall to have this manufacturing defect corrected by Ford at no cost to the purchaser of the vehicle. Didn't fully functional air bags come as part of my certified pre-owned purchase? I expect the manufacturer's safety equipment to be fully functional. Please review 2015 Explorer Owner's Manual as follows: Child Safety (pages 18-37), Safety Belts (pages 38-48) Personal Safety System (page 49) and Supplementary Restraints System (pages 50-61) with particular attention to page 49 bearing in mind that NONE of these safety features work when the air bag light is on. What good are safety features that are disabled by a manufacturing defect in the wiring harness? Ford has not only disappointed its customers, it has put them in serious jeopardy when using their product. Your rating system notes Crash, Fire, Injuries and Deaths. Do not wait for a positive notation in any of these categories before you act on safety recommendations, including a mandated recall, which is your primary tool for preventing future civil transportation accidents.

The contact was able to jumpstart the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The failure reoccurred while driving. The vehicle was towed to a local Pep Boys where the battery was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that she noticed that coolant was leaking onto the ground in the driveway. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the water pump was leaking. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

THE HIGHWAY WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING. AND THE CAR SUDDENLY HAD NO WAS ON EVERYTHI PULL OVER BUT I HAD TO PULL OVER. BECAUSE. THE CAR DIDN'T SHUT OFF, BUT I STEPPED ON THE PEDAL AND THERE WAS NO POWER. SO I PUL THE ROAD TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I STARTED IT BACK UP AND DID FINE AND WENT HOME. BUT THIS WAS DANGEROUS. IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, IT TURNED GREEN. I STEPPED ON THE PEDAL AND THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. I THINK IT'S SOMETHING IN ELECTRICAL OR THROTTLEL NOT SURE.

OUR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GORDIE BOUCHER FORD IN JANESVILLE WI FOR REPAIRS. THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK IF THIS LIGHT IS ON. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET. A COMMON PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES A WIRING HARNESS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A FRAYED WIRE. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS IS $1200. I DID HAVE THE REPAIR DONE BECAUSE WITHOUT IT I WOULD HAVE NO WORKING AIRBAGS ON MY VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY RECALLED. I DID REQUEST THE OLD WIRING HARNESS IF THAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD NEED TO HELP GET THIS SAFETY RECALL STARTED. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSES.

WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL SUBURBAN STREET, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS IN A MANUAL MODE AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET BACK HOME.. MY TWO GRANDCHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR, AND THIS SITUATION PUT US ALL IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND AFTER ASSESSING THE SITUATION, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK FAILED. THIS RESULTED IN, NOT ONLY MY LOSING THE USE OF THE VEHICLE OVER THE WEEKEND, BUT AN EXTREME BILL, OF $2107.00!

MY STEERING FAILED AS I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY GRANDKIDS ON A LOCAL SUBURBAN ROAD. IT TOOK ALL MY EFFORT TO STEER THE TRUCK BACK TO MY HOME. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE STEERING WOULD ALSO FREEZE AND LOCK IN ONE POSITION. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT MY FORD DEALER. TOTAL COST: $2,107.00! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD COVER! I HAVE 85,000 MILES ON MY EXPLORER.

THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE WIRING AND FAULTY CONNECTORS. AFTER WIGGLING WIRES THE LIGHT GOES OFF. IT EVENTUALLY COMES BACK ON, THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS.. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WITH THE LIGHT ON.

APIM FAILURE IN 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. ATTEMPTED TO USE UPDATE FROM FORD WEBSITE WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. CONTACTED FORD FOR SECOND ATTEMPT. SECOND ATTEMPT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. TOOK VEHICLE TO ULTIMATE FORD IN MOUNTAINHOME ARKANSAS. WAS TOLD THAT THE UPDATE WILL COST $109. ULTIMATE FORD ATTEMPTED TO DO UPDATE WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL TIMES TWO AND WAS TOLD THAT THE A APIM WAS BAD BY JAY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AND AFTER CONTACTING FORD MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY RESOLUTION IN THIS SITUATION. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO FORD AND HAD THE APIM REPLACED AT A COST OF $915.46. I TALK TO CHRIS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DO 2 TO 3 APIM REPLACEMENTS A WEEK. IF THIS IS THE CASE IN A TOWN THE SIZE OF MOUNTAIN HOME ARKANSAS I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD PROBABLY BE A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY .

WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR TO BRING IT IN BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SINCE THAT WAS THE ERROR MESSAGE, DUH.IT WAS COST $500 FOR AN ALIGNMENT? REPLACED FAULTY RACK AND PINION GEAR AND CHECKED ALIGNMENT(SHOULD BE OK SINCE THEY ALIGNED IT THE SAME DAY) TOTAL BILL $2291.00 THIS IS A 2015 EXPLORER LIMITED THAT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR CAR A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK IN THE CABIN OF SUV FOR REPAIRS, POWER SEAT REPAIRS AND INTERIOR DOOR PANEL COMING APART.

THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS READING THAT THE FUEL TANK IS ALMOST FULL, HOWEVER WHILE DRIVING THE LOW FUEL WARNING SENSOR CAME ON AND WE NEARLY RAN OUT OF FUEL. THE GAUGE WAS STILL READING ALMOST FULL. WE BARELY MADE IT TO A GAS STATION. AFTER PUTTING IN A FULL TANK OF GAS, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING A COMPLETELY FULL TANK. NOW WE HAVE TO RE-SET THE TRIP ODOMETER EVERY TIME WE GET GAS, SO WE CAN CALCULATE APPROXIMATELY HOW MANY MILES WE HAVE DRIVEN SINCE THE FUEL GAUGE ONLY GOES DOWN SLIGHTLY BELOW FULL. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 50,000 MILES.

THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS ABOUT 9MONTHS AGO I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD ON HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH THE CAR LOCKED UP STEERING THE WHEEL. THE CAR WAS MOVING ALL DIRECTIONS ON THREE LANES AND IT WAS VERY HARD FOR ME TO ATEMPT TO STEER AS THE WHEEL WAS VERY TIGHT. IT FINALLY WENT DOWN TO 0 MPH AND I PULLED OVER THANKING GOD I DID NOT CRASH. THE LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING ALL OVER. ATTEMPTED TO TRADE AT A DEALERSHIP REGOR DYKES IN TEXAS BC I WAS SCARRED TO DRIVE IT. THEY FIXED IT AS A TRADE THEN GOT SUED AND RETURNED IT BACK TO ME AND TOOK MY NEW CAR BACK. THEN YESTERDAY I LEFT HOME TO TAKE ALL MY KIDS TO SCHOOL 3. AND GOT TO 40 MPH AND IT DID IT AGAIN LUCKILY WE WERE NOT ON A HIGHWAY. THIS TIME WHEN IT HIT 0 MPH IT WAS STILL DRIVEABLE BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 40. I'M SCARRED FOR MY LIFE IN THIS CAR AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. THERE IS A LEAK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CAR IN THE FRONT AND NOW THERE IS STANDING WATER ON THE FLOOR THAT LEAKS THROUGH WHEN THERE IS A RAINSTORM. THERE IS ALSO A SIGNIFICANT LEAK WHERE THE LIGHTS ARE BY THE MOON ROOF . THE WATER IS SATURATING THE CEILING AND DRIPS ON THE RADIO AND OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR. THE SUNROOF NO LONGER WORKS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT RAINS AND WHEN IT IS STATIONARY. THE CEILING LIGHTS WILL FILL UP WITH WATER AND DRIP AS WELL. SINCE THERE IS NO HEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR I AM UNABLE TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD OF ANY FOG WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS.THERE ARE FORUMS ON THIS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND I KNOW 2 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR FORDS.

IN DECEMBER 2018 I TOLD MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE MANAGER OF MY VEHICLE GIVING ME A WARNING THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS NOT IN PARK OCCASIONALLY, THIS EVEN WHEN IT WAS. AT TIMES I WOULD HAVE TO RE-START THE VEHICLE, OR PLAY WITH THE GEAR SHIFT ITSELF TO GET IT TO STOP THE WARNING AND RETURN MY STEERING WHEEL AND SEAT TO ORIGINAL POSITIONS. OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THIS HAS BECOME MORE OF AN ISSUE AS IT WAS HAPPENING ON A DAILY BASIS. WHEN I TOOK IT IN RECENTLY FOR A RECALL ON ANOTHER ISSUE THE SERVICE MANAGER DID INFORM ME THERE IS A TSB #17-2219 FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW I FOUND THAT THE TSB COVERS FIVE PARTICULAR FORD MODELS AND THREE LINCOLN MODELS SPANNING THE YEARS 2011-2017. BECAUSE THIS WAS NOW A PROBLEM I WAS DEALING WITH ON A DAILY BASIS I HAD THEM REPLACE THE SHIFTER AS SUGGESTED AT 68,033 MILES. WHAT IS UPSETTING IS THAT THIS IS NOT BEING COVERED UNDER ANY TYPE OF RECALL. THIS IS NOT A PART THAT SHOULD FAIL AT 62,000 MILES WHEN I FIRST REPORTED THE ISSUE, AND IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD COVER AS MANY MODELS AS IT DOES FOR A SIX YEAR PERIOD OF TIME. HOW COULD VEHICLES START TO HAVE THESE ISSUES IN 2011, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STILL CONTINUE TO USE THESE RELAYS OR SHIFTERS FOR AN ADDITIONAL SIX YEARS? IF THEY ARE NEGLIGENT IN NOT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM, WHY SHOULD THE CONSUMER BE ON THE HOOK FOR FORD USING DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS?

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE EXPLORER HAS SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME (JULY 2019) I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE OFF INTO A MEDIAN. THE SECOND TIME (AUG 5, 2019) I WAS COMING OFF AN ON RAMP ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH. ONCE AGAIN THE CAR SUDDENLY POWERED OFF. I WAS LUCKY TO BE IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO CRUISE OFF INTO A WIDE GRASSY AREA. THE TRAFFIC I WAS MERGING INTO WAS AT 70 MPH. IN BOTH INSTANCES THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE CAR LOSES POWER AND YOU HAVE PRACTICALLY NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING OR BRAKES. IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO CRUISE OFF AND/OR HAD BEEN IN THE CENTER LANE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BY VEHICLES AT HIGH SPEEDS. IN BOTH INSTANCES, ONCE I WAS OFF THE ROAD I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A FEW SECONDS, AND RESTARTED. THE CAR STARTED BACK UP NORMALLY AND THEN SEEMED TO WORK OK. IT'S LIKE THE ELECTRICAL OR SOFTWARE SYSTEM REQUIRES A 'RESET'. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS IT OCCURS WITH NO WARNING AND THE DRIVER CANNOT CONTROL THE CAR AND MUST COME TO A STOP TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART.

VEHICLE PURCHASE USED WITH 59,000 MILES ON FEBRUARY 2018. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON SINCE MARCH 2018. CURRENTLY 82,600 MILES. BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY HEADLIGHTS , HEARTNG MOTOR, THERE ARE LEAKS INTO THE CAR THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRS. THE CAR IS LOW FALLING APART :( .AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET SINCE EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER EVERYTHING.. NOT GETTING STRAIGHT ANSWERS FROM FORD OR THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND HAVE INFORMED THE FINANCE. FURTHERMORE, THEY HAVE BEEN ADDITIONAL HOSPITALIZATIONS IN 2018, FOR WHICH I WILL HAVE TO UPLOAD THE DOCUMENTS AT A LATER TIME.

THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM WENT ON THE FRITZ WHEN IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY HOT OUTSIDE. THIS CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO FALTER AND THE CAR TO BE ESSENTIALLY INOPERABLE. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, AND IT SEEMED TO HAPPEN ON EXTREMELY HOT DAYS. IT WOULD ALWAYS OCCUR WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT OTHER MOTORISTS AS WELL. AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN THE STEERING WENT OUT THE CAR WAS HARD TO CONTROL, AND GOT EVEN WORSE AS MOMENTUM WAS LOST.

DRIVING 55MPH ON I-94 LAST NIGHT IN A STEADY RAIN AND CHECK BATTERY MESSAGE CAME UP IN THE LEFT IP DISPLAY. WITHIN A FEW SECONDS I LOST THE POWER STEERING, THEN THE CENTER CONSOLE ENTERTAINMENT/INFO SCREEN, THEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT BLACK WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WHICH WERE ON HIGHEST SETTING SLOWED BUT CONTINUED TO OPERATE ONLY WHILE IN THE HIGHEST SETTING. THIS SCENARIO CONTINUED OFF AND ON FOR THE NEXT 30 MILES WITH INTERMITTENT ELECTRONIC STEERING FAILURE, INTERNAL IP AND CONSOLE SCREEN FAILURE AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING FAILURES. WE PULLED OVER EACH TIME AND WITHIN A VARIED AMOUNT OF TIME FROM A FEW SECONDS TO A FEW MINUTES, A SOUND SIMILAR TO A SQUEALING BELT WOULD BE HEARD AND THE SYSTEM WOULD "REBOOT" AND ALL FUNCTIONING WOULD BE RESTORED FOR A LIMITED TIME. WE LIMPED THE VEHICLE HOME OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT HOUR AND A HALF FOR 35 MILES AS I WAS NOT LEAVING THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY OR IN DETROIT IF I COULD SAFELY AVOID IT. THIS MORNING (SUNDAY) I TESTED THE BATTERY AND HAD THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED UNDER LOAD AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND BOTH WERE WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS. BELT LOOKED GOOD WITH VISUAL INSPECTION AND 1 HOUR OF IDLE AND DRIVE TIME CLOSE TO HOME IN DAMP PUDDLING ROADS COULD NOT GET ANY ADVERSE SYMPTOMS TO REAPPEAR. IT WILL GO TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT OUR LOCAL DEALER TOMORROW FOR A THOROUGH INSPECTION. THIS IS MY WIFE'S DAILY DRIVER AND IF NO ISSUE CAN BE FOUND WE WILL BE REPLACING THE CAR AS SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN EXTREME DANGER WITHOUT STEERING, LIGHTS AND IP, ESPECIALLY ON A SATURDAY NIGHT DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY OF DETROIT'S I-94 EXPRESSWAY.

MY VEHICLE IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD AND THE DRIVER DOOR POWER WINDOW DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY, ONLY WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. IT SHOULD GO UP AND DOWN WITH THE SOFT TOUCH OF THE BUTTON HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT THE MOTOR IS GOING OUT BECAUSE WHEN I PUSH FOR THE BUTTON TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP, THE WINDOW WILL GO DOWN. I WILL HOLD THE BUTTON IN THE UP POSITION AND ABOUT HALF WAY UP THE WINDOW WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO DOWN. ON THE SAME DOOR PANEL I ALREADY HAD A RECALL THAT WAS REPAIRED AND NOW THIS STARTED. I AM NOW WONDERING IF THE TWO ARE LINKED SOMEHOW. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME IF THIS REPAIR WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH MILEAGE IS WITHIN WARRANTY. I ASKED AND EXPLAINED THAT MY CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, HAS 42,500 MILES (AT THE TIME) AND SHE COULDN'T TELL ME ANYTHING REGARDING THE WARRANTY. I DON'T QUITE UNDERSTAND THAT. SAID I WOULD HAVE TO ACTUALLY GO TO THE DEALERSHIP OF MY CHOICE, AGAIN, AND LEAVE MY CAR, AGAIN, AND LET THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND SEE IF IT WOULD BE COVERED. TOTAL COST $5150.00. TRADED VEHICLE IN AND PURCHASED DIFFERENT VEHICLE. VEHICLE NOT PURCHASED FROM DEALERSHIP WHICH ANALYZED REPAIR WORK.

WHILE DRIVING IN THE CAR WITH MY TWO CHILDREN ON ROUTE 193 IN MARYLAND (NOT A HIGHWAY BUT A BUSY ROAD), THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING, AN ERROR APPEARED ON THE SCREEN THAT SAID "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ERROR", A WRENCH INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND THE LIGHT ON THE TMS KNOB WENT OUT (CAR HAD FULL TANK OF GAS). I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED IT AND THE ERROR INDICATORS WERE GONE. IT THEN DROVE WITH NO PROBLEMS. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. AFTER CHARGING US $175 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO CODES WERE STORED IN THE COMPUTER SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WE PICKED UP THE CAR AND BROUGHT IT HOME. SUNDAY MORNING, ONCE AGAIN IT ABRUPTLY STOPPED ACCELERATING, AND THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED. THE TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ERROR ONLY APPEARED FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND WAS THEN REPLACED WITH A WRENCH ERROR ON THE SCREEN. THIS TIME I TOOK PICTURES IN THE HOPES THAT IT MIGHT HELP THE DEALER PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. I THEN CUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN. IT DROVE WITH NO PROBLEMS AGAIN BUT WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE CAR AT THE DEALER ON TUESDAY BECAUSE CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM. MOONROOF LEAK FOLLOWED BY MONROOF BEING STUCK OPEN. AFTER A CAR WASH AT OUR PURCHASING DEALER, WE NOTICED WATER DRIPPING FROM THE LIGHTS ABOVE THE CENTER CONSOLE IN PROXIMITY TO THE MONROOF SWITCHES. UPON TESTING THE SWITCHES, THE MOONROOF OPENED BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE AGAIN. THE POWERSHADE OPERATES FINE, BUT THE MOONROOF IS STUCK OPEN (IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER IN MICHIGAN). THE LIGHTS OPERATE FINE. LUCKILY FOR US, WE ARE UNDER THE INITIAL FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS IS A 2015 EXPLORER WITH 29900 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE EPAS RACK AND PINION SYSTEM FOR $1916.79. THE CAR HAD 46,7K MILES AND ONLY HIGHWAY DRIVING. I AM GOING INTO THE 5TH MONTH OF LEASING MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS VEHICLE. CURRENTLY THE ODOMETER READS 2,100 MILES AND THEY WERE NOT ENJOYABLE MILES. I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS 2015 EXPLORER HAS THE WORST DESIGN ON THE INSIDE THAT I'VE EVER SEEN. THE OUTWARD VISIBILITY FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT FOR THE FRONT AND REAR OF THIS VEHICLE IS SEVERELY COMPROMISED BY THE HUGE C PILLARS WHICH CREATE BLIND SPOTS WITHIN THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THIS MODEL HAS BLIS, I'VE ALMOST BEEN IN 2 COLLISIONS BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE MY RIGHT SIDE REAR OR LEFT SIDE REAR DUE TO THE FAULTY DESIGN OF THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE BLIS SYSTEM DID NOT WARN ME THAT THERE WAS A TRACTOR TRAILER APPROACHING ME ON THE LEFT SIDE. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER CANNOT REMEDY. THIS IS A FACTORY DESIGN FLAW THAT IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THE DRIVER CAN'T SEE WHAT'S COMING. THE BLIS IS USELESS. NAVIGATING THROUGH TIGHT SPACES IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE YOU CANNOT SEE THE FRONT END TO JUDGE YOUR DISTANCE BETWEEN VEHICLES/OBJECTS AND THE WIDE FRONT PILLARS ALSO ADD TO THE FRUSTRATION OF TRYING TO SEE WHAT'S ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE BLOWER MOTOR FOR THE HEATING/AC SYSTEM JUST TURNS OFF AS WELL AS THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER LIGHTS AND THEN COMES BACK ON AFTER 10 - 15 SECONDS. THIS HAS OCCURRED A FEW TIMES. THERE IS A BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE UPON START UP. NOT SURE IF IT'S EXHAUST GAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE OR IF IT'S SOMETHING IN THE HEATER/AC SYSTEM.
