The passenger side silver cover came off the top rail of my 2017 Ford Explorer. This SOULD be covered by Ford Safety Recall 21S22. I was told by my local Ford dealer my mileage was over the mileage limit of 152,000. My current mileage is 152,197.7; I can send a picture. Any item(s) flying off a vehicle should be a safety concern and covered by ANY recalls. Does Ford and/or NHTSA want to limit the age and/or mileage for safety recall? I was told by my local Ford dealership, this was a 'customer satisfaction' issue and only addressed if the problem was evident at the time of inspection. I've had my vehicle in for routine maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, etc) on a very regular basis. Normally I leave with instructions to fix any recalls on the vehicle. This was not addressed on previous maintenance instances because the broken top rail was not showing signs of distress. (My terms based on the conversation with the local dealership service personnel.) Are you kidding me??? I would expect these types of issues to be addressed/fixed prior to failure. Once failure occurs, the potential for roadway damage has happened. I'm having problems uploading my files on your system.
Safety Recall Notice 24S02/NHTSA Recall 24V031 - Exterior A-pillar applique trim clip attachments may not be properly engaged due to improper assembly. Two-step solution is required: Ford dealer has to check to see if the clips are properly engaged or not, then, if not, must order the correct parts from Ford. I have been trying to correct this issue for over two years, but dealer says the parts are still on back order from Ford and repairs cannot be made.
There is an odor in the passenger cabin. Seems unsafe
Since Ford issued the first recall notice for Recall 24S02, I have been contacting my local Ford dealerships every few months to check whether the replacement parts were available. Each time, I am told the parts are still not in stock. As of today, multiple pieces of my vehicle have flown off while I was driving. This has become a serious safety hazard. Most recently, while driving on the freeway, a part detached from my car and the vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting it. I am increasingly concerned for my safety and the safety of others on the road. At this point, my vehicle does not feel safe to drive, but I have no alternative transportation. This appears to be a straightforward part for Ford to manufacture and replace, yet the delay has been unreasonable. Something needs to be done— I cannot continue driving a vehicle where pieces are literally coming off while in motion.
Vehicle: 2017 Ford Explorer Issue: Hood paint peeling / paint delamination Component: Exterior / Structure / Body / Paint Safety Concern: Corrosion risk and impaired visibility Description: The paint on the hood of my 2017 Ford Explorer is peeling and delaminating down to the bare aluminum, starting at the front edge and spreading across the hood. This is a known and widespread issue on 2013–2018 Ford Explorers involving defective paint adhesion on aluminum body panels. Ford previously issued TSB 17-0062 and Customer Satisfaction Program 19N01 addressing this exact problem. My vehicle is experiencing the same failure pattern described in these bulletins. The paint peels off in sheets, exposing bare metal to corrosion. This creates a safety concern because corrosion in this area can weaken the structure, and loose/chipped paint can detach while driving. Ford dealers acknowledge the issue but state that the program has expired, even though the defect continues to occur. This appears to be a manufacturing defect that affects a large number of Ford vehicles and needs further investigation and manufacturer accountability, dependability and loyalty, positivity and innovation (which happen to be FORD’s Core Values)to solve the manufacturers defect problems. Further service concerns at Michigan City Ford Dealership include: 1. Previously scheduled oil change, nobody present on the building except 1 guy at back desk down hallway watching YouTube videos, didn’t know where my key was, after searching, located my key and unaware that the oil change had not occurred until I brought it up, Ford employee asked if I would like to reschedule without apology, I declined. 2. A pillar recall: only half repaired on 11/17/2025 due to not properly ordering all parts after multiple inspections. Advisor said he would be “stealing” the parts from another customers appointment to finish A pillar recall on 11/19/2025. More time and energy cost to customer due to lack of accountability.
The windshield outer trim pillar molding has flown off my vehicle twice while driving on the highway. This last time it almost hit someone on a motorcycle. What is Ford going to do to fix this?
To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint with ford. I request immediate assistance regarding multiple open recalls on my 2017 Ford Explorer Platinum. Despite multiple attempts to have these recalls addressed by my local Ford dealership and others, they have refused to perform all the necessary repairs. When I asked if they could at least order the required parts, I was informed that they would not, due to the parts being on back order with no timeline of when they would be available. This situation has become increasingly concerning, as one of the un repaired recalls has now led to water intrusion inside my vehicle, causing additional damage. Along with other recalls that are further causing damage. I depend on my vehicle daily, and the ongoing delays and lack of action from the dealership have only worsened the condition of my vehicle. At this point, I am requesting further help. I believe this situation warrants urgent attention, as it involves manufacturer-issued safety recalls that remain unresolved through no fault of my own, after various attempts to get these recalls fixed. I would appreciate a prompt response confirming that this case has been escalated to the appropriate department.
Exterior windshield A-pillar flew off on the highway and ford said the repair was suppose to be ready on the latter half of 2024. This repair is not being dealt with in a timely manor. Manufacturer Recall Number 24S0. NHTSA Recall Number24V031.
UNKNOWN. The rubber seal for the windshield wiper cowl is completely deteriorating. This is a known common problem as the ford dealership parts department stated. With this rubber seal deteriorating its possible for wind to get under the cowling and blow it off while driving down the road causing a hazard for surrounding drivers.
It is known that for the specific year make and model that the water pump goes out around 100,000 miles. This water pump was built as an internal water pump, which is not typical for most cars. in order to fix this part, the engine has to be taken out and lots of parts have to be disassembled Just to get to it. The part Itself is fairly cheap, but the labor cost thousands of dollars due to where it is located. Ford knowingly built this car and put that pump where it is at and therefore should be reliable to pay the cost when it is so common that this part goes out around 100,000 miles. if it is a known issue that occurs on these models frequently then it should become a recall because a failing water pump can cause significant issues within the engine and make the vehicle in operable.
A buzzing started coming from my front dash. My mechanic pointed out the molding/trim on the windshield is basically disintegrating because of cheap quality materials.
Windshield cowl grille damage (along with A-pillar molding trim damage) causing loose parts and wind with rattling sound. Cowl should also be included and replaced as part of recall.
The B pillar trim pieces from the recall have not been fixed. They are, in fact, detached and do make noise while driving. I have called fords in the area multiple times and they do not know when they will have parts.
I recently found out about a Ford recall regarding the backup cameras malfunctioning which did not include my vehicle even though my vehicle is showing the unsafe defect. The backup camera goes fuzzy/glitchy as well as black sometimes while backing up.
in reference to NHTSA Recall No: 25V347 & Manufacturer Recall No:25S53. according to ford my vin does not apply due to the dates within the recall. both of my B pillar outside trim have been separated from the vehicle, just like it states in the recall. i replaced the passenger side last year, now my drivers side is blown off. due to the sticky tape holding them on. when i asked ford they said the recall is only for vehicles manufactured from Chicago from 6/25/15 thru 4/5/17. Mine was manufactured on 28 May 2017. so my vehicle does not apply. however, i find it odd that both mine have failed just like it says in the recall but yet my vehicle does not apply. seems fishy. i think the dates of this defect should be expanded and thus allowing my vehicle to be covered under the recall and ford pay for the repairs.
I am unable to renew my registration due to not being able to complete / repair the recalls. Dealer does not have the parts for the repair therefore my vehicle will not pass inspection for the renewal. This has caused many troubles and issues, I am being pulled over by police and constantly worried they might tow my vehicle for expired registration.
Over Memorial Day weekend 2025, the A-pillar exterior trim on my 2017 Ford Explorer detached and flew off while I was driving. This matches the Ford recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V347, Ford Recall No. 25S53) covering A-pillar trim detachment. Since then, I have been waiting for the replacement part. My dealership confirmed my Explorer is covered under the recall but said they do not know when repair parts will be available. As of late August 2025 (over three months later), no repair has been offered and no estimated timeline has been provided. Safety/Function Concerns: The missing A-pillar trim causes a loud whistling noise while driving, which is distracting and could impact driver focus. Detached trim is a road hazard to other drivers and pedestrians if it flies off while in motion. The vehicle now appears defective and unfinished, raising concerns about quality and value. Attempts to Resolve: Contacted my Ford dealership immediately after the trim fell off. They confirmed the recall but stated no parts are available.I drove over an hour round trip for them to look it over and then send me home and that's all that has happend. Have followed up several times since Memorial Day and am always told “no ETA” for the part. Complaint: I believe waiting months for a critical recall repair is unreasonable. Ford should be required to provide either a timely repair, a safe temporary solution, or other accommodations until permanent replacement parts are available.
Was making loud buzzing noises and cracking noise while driving. The whole bottom is now gone. This been going on about 1-2 years now, when this all started. Need all the pillars replaced immediately. I drive to work in this vehicle and it's a 40-minute commute one way.
About 4 years ago it was a recall to the roof rail trim disconnection, which mine was totally fine but since it was a recall I took it to the dealer to be replace. Now while I was driving on the highway I saw the right trim flight away. I called the dealer that replaced to see what they can do since I feel this is a continue problem a defective part. I even show them the left side is coming off but their answer was that it was a recall part and the part was already replaced it and is nothing they can do now. I really feel they should be responsible to replaced it again since it is a recurring problem. I didn't have any issue with the original one and the one they replaced both are defective.
The windshield trim is unattaching piece by piece. There is been a recall issued in January 2024. The dealership still does not have parts to make the repair over a year later. Manufacturer Recall Number24S02 NHTSA Recall Number24V031 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available
While driving a certain speed i hear noise in main windshield area
This pertains to the B-Pillar trim recall. It should be noted that not only does the trim fall off but if it is the trim with the entry keypad, that can cause a short circuit that effects other parts of the car operation. Recently this happened to this vehicle and a fuse blew under the drivers side dash fuse 11 5 amp fuse. This fuse blows and the rear hatch will no longer open. We called about this in June when this happened and the dealer said it was unrelated to the trim that fell off and they would charge us $600 to look at it. After finding the same issue on Youtube and the fix posted we purchased the part and installed ourself for $50. This complaint is stating that the recall needs to have the liftgate included as a symptom.
Front window trim/ A pillar detached while driving on October 18,2024. Contacted dealership for replacement at the end of October 2024, and each month following, they brought vehicle in for inspection but have never replaced the trim piece. It has now been 9 months, I have called the dealer every month to follow up and have been told every time they still do not have the part to fix it. I am concerned that the trim on the other side of the car could fly off and cause damage to my vehicle or others.
The following is a letter I sent to Ford. I've yet to hear back from them. This is a picture of what happened in my 2017 Explorer on Thursday, June 5, 2025. As I unlocked and got into my car, I realized the seat was moving forward. I tried to get out of the seat, but it was difficult because the space was closing in. I managed to squeeze out of the space before it totally closed me in and pinned me between the seat and steering wheel. As you can see from the picture, the seat is as close to the steering wheel and console as possible. The steering wheel was 7 inches from the seatback and 7 inches from the seat bottom. The seat was 2 inches from the console. This is extremely dangerous. This is not the first time this has happened. This has occurred at least ten times. Sometimes it is when I get in the vehicle as happened June 5. One time I was pinned between the steering wheel and seat and my legs were jammed into the console. Fortunately, I was able to extricate myself with only a few scrapes and bruises. While it is happening, I try the side buttons that control the seat and other ways to stop it, but nothing I do stops the movement once it begins. The only way to avoid being pinned in is to get out while the seat is moving. Other times it has happened when I am not in the car. I unlock and open the door to get in and the seat has moved itself and is as far up to the steering wheel as physically possible. The first time this happened; I told the service desk at the dealer when I was having work done on the SUV. They checked and said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it.`
In my 2017 Ford Explorer, that backup camera is experiencing issues that sound related to the current recall on 2021-2024 Ford Explorers. The image is all distorted, the backup assist lines are not present, the screen will go black or grey with distortion.
Back up camera fails to operate at times when vehicle is in reverse. Potential for backing collision or fatality.
Display screen/Navigation screen is flashing continuously. This is affecting the use of the back up camera which could potentially cause damage to vehicles or persons. This also is affecting thr use of hands free operation.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a recurring turbocharger issue in my 2017 Ford Explorer Sport (VIN: [XXX] ). In April 2024, I was forced to replace the turbocharger system at a cost of approximately $2,500. Despite the repair, my vehicle continues to have serious performance issues. Most recently, the check engine light returned, and a diagnostic scan from O’Reilly Auto Parts showed error code P219A – Bank 1 Air/Fuel Ratio Imbalance. This code indicates that the engine is still not functioning correctly—pointing to a likely underlying or unresolved defect. During the initial failure, oil leaked extensively into the engine bay and burned off in thick white smoke while I was driving. It was a serious safety concern, and the cause was consistent with Ford’s existing recall for this engine (NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V925000), which was limited to the Police Interceptor Utility model despite the civilian Sport version using the same 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine and components. It is extremely concerning that my vehicle—outside of the official recall range—suffered the same turbo failure and now continues to show problems even after a costly repair. Either the mechanic’s initial repair was incomplete, or the core design flaw that caused the issue in the first place is still at play, meaning this problem may continue to repeat itself. I respectfully request that: 1.Ford expand the recall to include vehicles with the same components and failures, regardless of their designation. 2.NHTSA investigate the scope of this issue across the broader 2017 Explorer Sport lineup. 3.Ford provide reimbursement or support for the costly repair, which has not resolved the issue. 4.Ford issue a technical service bulletin or revised part guidance if this is an ongoing engineering issue. I am happy to provide full documentation, photos, and service records if needed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Water pump has gone out, and is a known issue with the explorers, plus they have made these very difficult to to replace and require partial engine tear down.
There has been a long standing recall on the pillars for over a year, however ford continuously does not have the parts in stock. I have been awaiting repair for over a year with no date in sight.
The windshield trim on my 2017 Ford exploer which is the actual recall on this vehicle blew off while traveling on a major highway slamming into my windshield and into the next lane just missing another vehicle causing them to swerve violently to avoid being hit by the windshield trim! I have been Communicating with the dealership where I had purchase my vehicle from the time I first received my recall notice, what possibly 5-6 months. Now I am concerned that the other one may do the same and fly off and the resolt being worse!
Engine block timing plate cover has a defect crack in it causing an oil leak and fire hazard.
My parking pawl failed. Other 2017 explorers have the recall but mine doesn’t? Dealership says mines not effected but it broke? Hardly seams fair. I was able to jump back in and stop it before it rolled out of the driveway and almost hit my neighbors.
Vehicle was inspected for 24S02 a-pillar recall in October. Nothing is updated or addressed if the a-pillars pass inspection. that closed the recall. now, the a-pillars have become loose as stated in ford's letter to the owner "may become detached" and Ford is saying that the recall no longer will cover this because it passed the initial inspection 4 months ago.
The sunroof gets stuck in the tilted open position and sunshades will not close. This creates an unsafe condition if it starts to rain. Cannot secure the vehicle. This problem is very common and there are many complaints and how to fix videos on the internet. I contacted Ford At first they were cooperative and offered to help with the repair. Then suddenly they refused to help with the repair. This left me with a 1200.00 bill at the dealer. It is a common failure, it was occurring on the previous model year and was not addressed, it requires proprietary tools to fix. There is low incentive to Ford to fix if they can make a profit from the failure. just one online example there are many videos and how to repair post and complaints: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The Roof trim piece flew off while driving and almost hit the car behind me. The other side looks loose as while. I know the A pillars have an open recall on them as while but they said those parts arent available. I already talked with the dealer but they said no recall is available for this Roof trim and I think there should be.
Manufacturer Recall Number24S02 NHTSA Recall Number24V031 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available
The A pillar trim has detached from the windshield while I was driving on the highway, it almost hit the car behind me. There was no warning before it became detached. When calling to see if parts were available I was told that they had been on back order for a year and they had no idea when parts would be available
Engine coolant leak. Come to find out it is the internal water pump, which several mechanics stated is a "common motor design flaw" with these vehicles. The repair for this is $3500! Not a small amount for a average person with low income. If Ford is aware of this common issue, why is nothing being done to protect their customers like me. I'd like to hear from someone in regards to this, as I have always been a loyal Ford consumer, but this will change after this.
the transmission has gone out for a second time 3 years ago the transmission was replaced as part of fords customer satisfaction and after 3 years of driving the car started acting weird stalling or not wanting to go- now it will not start after taking to the ford dealership they informed me it was the same problem they had previously fixed, and it was no longer under warranty I would have to pay for a whole new transmission- to be honest I still owe money on this car and could not afford a repair of over 7000 -It was already fixed just 3 years ago how is the Transmisson faulty for a second time? there needs to be recall on this part/
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED FOR SAFETY RECALL 24S02 FOR MONTHS AND THE DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. I CANNOT USE MY CAR TO GO ON TRIP OR ON FREEWAYS BECAUSE OF THE WINDSHIELD NOISE AND I AM AFRAID OF SOMETHING COMING OFF AND CAUSING A WRECK.
Keyless entry panel on driver's side continues to fall off while driving, hanging by wires, which then blow fuses. Lift gate ajar warning comes on and then unable to open/close rear lift gate. Indoor overhead lighting remains on due to "liftgate ajar" even though liftgate is not ajar. This is a Safety hazard, panel could fly off during driving. Took to dealer, misdiagnosed as liftgate latch malfunction. Paid to get latch replaced and one week later, keyless entry panel fell off again and liftgate ajar warning came up and unable to open or close liftgate and interior lighting remains on.
Delay in available parts. Both A-pillar trim parts have detached from vehicle. Passengers side 6/2024, Drivers side 12/24.
Driving down the highway and the roof rail flew off almost hitting the car behind me upon pulling over i discovered the roof rail flew off. I called the dealership and they told me that vehicle is over 150k miles and the recall was voided. I don’t remember seeing that.
For over a year the windshield of my car had a “rattle” or wind-like noise. I figured this was due to the weather stripping around the windshield degrading and falling off. I heard about the recall and the very next day I was driving down the interstate and the plastic piece (A-Pillar) flew off and the car behind me swerved to miss the piece. A day or so after this occurred, large rains came through our area which resulted in water entering my vehicle. I took my car to the dealership a day or 2 later where they had to inspect to see if the vehicle met the recall and order the parts. This was over 3 months ago. I called Ford about 1 month after my vehicle was inspected and spoke to a representative who informed me that the parts are in stock and are being shipped out upon ordering from the dealership. The dealership placed the order the same day they inspected the car. I have not heard any communication from Ford regarding this. I am cornered about water damage in my vehicle due to prolonged issue with not only the weather stripping but also missing the plastic piece (A-Pillar). I have contacted the dealership multiple times and their hands are tied due to not having the parts needed to fix the recall.
Water leaking in the drivers side frame that goes down the inner column by the dash onto the floor board, leaks above the driver visor, and in the back frame in the trunk of driver side. I have had it checked over by a Ford dealer twice and they claim it was my sun roof-which it is not. When I tried to have it checked again with a non Ford mechanic, it’s been too cold and rainy so the problem cannot be found. It has gotten worse in my car, water damage to the dash and I get condensation that forms on the inside of my windshield. Thought it occurred due to the windshield guard cover recall but that isn’t the case.

Rear toe links, rear alignment is off. Dealership said they can’t fix it. My tires are wearing incredibly fast.
Hello there’s. Since I got the recall letter I keep going and calling to the Central ford dealership to replace the windshield molding, they keep saying that the moldings aren’t available but I know that they have been replaced them. My left moldings is very loose, I’m afraid that it will fall causing an accident. Could you do something about it? I just went a week ago. They said that they will call me when they get them. They been saying that since the first time Thank you.
In addition to the details involving NHTSA Safety Recall 24V031, any trim at the top of the windshield has either deteriorated or fallen completely off, while the material below the windshield is rotting away. This all makes me worry that the windshield could potentially shatter or come off on the road. I am not sure when the problem occurred or started to occur and I just became aware of it.
The exterior "door entry keypad pillar molding trim" became detached from the vehicle and sent debris into the roadway while traveling on the highway. This component is the door access keypad found on the drivers side door of many Ford vehicles.
The illuminated B Pillar molding strip is coming off on the driver’s side. It’s half out. The B Pillar molding on the passenger side has started to come loose. These strips could detach on the highway and cause an accident. They should be included in recall 21532 and NHTSA RECALL 21V537
This is the second time again 15 minutes that I've had to continue to put in these complaints about the recalls it is you know everything else about not being notified about all the recalls which I think there are between 10 and 12 all the way from the rear towing to the a pillars to the headlight all the way down to the Cadillac converter cam trimming assembly etc not been notified one time bye anyone nothing George Coleman Ford dealership. Very unprofessional and I'm very [XXX] right now I've spoke LOL let the message for James Farley CEO of Ford and I will be letting him know everything that has been going on because of the a pillars of water has been able to get inside the vehicle because that is the rubber around the front windshield which is supposed to have been you know done accurately and which it wasn't because if it was there wouldn't be a recall but I'm getting [XXX] to have to find out all these recalls on my own and for the Ford dealership where I bought the vehicle has not tried to reach out whatsoever even about the roof rack recall they have the parts in but they had not notified me so therefore if anything happens during the for the headlight if I get a ticket y'all will be held responsible if I get into a bad car wreck y'all will be held responsible because of the rear toe link that's a very important part because it will make you crash into a ditch and die and yeah I'm just I'm [XXX] right now I can't wait for James Farley to call me back because he's going to he's going to find out how [XXX] I am and I'll go above the CEO and talk to the Ford family about these issues along with leaving bad reviews and y'all get deducted for every complaint. There's one person at George Coleman Ford that I would like to extend my gratitude towards and I don't know his first name his name is Mr Shockley that is a great man he's been the most helpful and he has went above and beyond to help me and my wife when I did ask him about the INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U
The APIM (Accessory Prodical Interface Module) component failed. This controls the touch screen, navigation system, phone/bluetooth call acceptance and other application. So while driving I had no or inaccurate navigation. The vehicle is in the shop now to replace the APIM. It has not been inspected as far as I know. I had the problem in June 2023, the dealer said it was a software issue so they updated the software. May 29, 2024 it did the same thing now it is the APIM. But there was a note on the repair report from June 2023 that This statement tells me that it was the APIM in June 2023 the "APIM was slow/laggy, however normal operation after little warm up at this time". In June the vehicle was under an extentened warranty, it as expired so If they had repair it in June like they should have the warranty would have covered it.
Like the existing recall for the exterior A pillar , the exterior B Pillar is lifting from the car at the top. This has since caused rain water to leak in from the top and caused a short in the touch entry keypad within the pillar, causing it to flash on and off over and over draining the cars battery until it is dead and won’t start.
My locks on my doors will not lock with keyfob or when I push my lock button in the car. I am scared that if I can't lock them someone will fall out the car. Someone can steal my car because I cannot lock my doors.
Mileage: 108,165
None of the door locks work, making it unsafe and dangerous for crime areas. I have contacted ford many times however they are unwilling to fix issues and it is a widespread issue with the year and model... It is an expensive issue to fix in all 4 doors
Upon starting my vehicle it started smoking all of a sudden from the exhaust pipes. Turned off right away. Towed to Ford dealer where they then said it was the turbocharger that leaked to the engine I believe and to the catilac converter.
Gaskets on windshield are broken and moving while driving. The windshield is leaking water inside the vehicle from rain water damaged sunroof function and carpet.
safety recall notice: 24S02/Nhtsa Recall 24V031 exterior A pillar trim part that detaches while driving can create a road hazard for driver and other road users, increasing the risk of a crash. The passenger trim flew off and hit windshield and car while driving on freeway (I-15 near Calico, CA). Driver's side trim is loose and rubber is cracked holding it on. Windshield has bubbles and cracks in it since trim came off.
The A trim pillar piece described in NHTSA recall 24VO31 flew off at highway speed. The B pillar trim piece flew off striking the side of the car causing a dent.
Our Explorer, experienced this in June of 2022. My daughter had just graduated college and we were moving some of her stuff back home 350 miles away. The Driver side area where the codes are put into to unlock the door if locked out, fell off and was hanging while we were driving on the freeway. We had to exit the freeway and my husband had to buy duck tape to tape it up. Our hatchback would not work as well as some of the other electrical things. I refused to drive it the rest of the way home, and we switched cars. It did cause electrical to go out throughout the car, intermittently. My husband had to buy the part online and replace it. The passenger side is going to fall off also, I noticed while washing it. So yes we need this done, asap. And we had to incur charges for having to replace the other one. There were warning lights for electrical, not working. I cannot remember what they were.
The trim around my windshield fell off while driving. I called a local ford store, Ed Martin Ford in Anderson, Indiana and was told the current recall does not cover this.
While driving my 2017 Ford Explorer, There was a smell of burnt oil/tire entering my vehicle through the vents. I took it in to the Ford Dealership and I was advised that I needed a brand new transfer case, and the front engine mounts needed to be replaced due to broken seals. This was causing transmission fluid to leak onto other parts (hot) which was causing the smell while I was driving. My vehicle is at 89,000 miles, and if I don't get this replaced, then it will cause transmission failure. I was told that this should not happen on a vehicle with 89,000 miles. The leaking fluid can also cause a fire under the hood. When asked why or how this could happen, I was told it just wasn't "built" well. Cost of repairs will be about $4,500.00. WOW.
When it rains, water leaks from the lights, seatbelts and dome lights. The water collects on the passenger floorboard front and rear and collects in the spare tire well. The car is now starting to mold this winter. We have brought the car in past years to be fixed with the Ford dealership not able to fix the reason for the leaking. yes, this car is available for inspection. The car is forming mold spores inside and we are unable to park under cover. It is potential for making us sick. Ford could not find a source of how to fix the water leak.
I was driving on the freeway. We were having a windstorm. A strong guest of wind tore off the passenger side windshield trim piece.
Me levanté por la mañana para llevar Mis hijos ala escuela y ya estaba rayada la troca ..desconocido
Front windshield rubber trim is disintegrating, dry rotted and cracked throughout, separating from windshield, pieces about to fly off. Vibrates and makes sound when driving 55 mph or more.
Driver side window button does not work. All others do. There is no reason this should not work on a car with so few miles 18,700 and less than 7 years old.
The rubber windshield trim is detaching from the windshield, causing a loud rattling/vibrating noise inside the vehicle. This issue also allows debris to get between the windshield and the windshield frame, causing even further damage.
Car wouldn't start. All the water had run out due to coolent leak near water pump and in finding it they found leak near front engine mount. These are problems that other 2017 explorer owners have also complained about online. In addition, Kirkland Ford stated they are backed up on repairing the toe link and roof repair due to lack of certified mechanics. The 2017 whole vehicle should have been recalled due to the cheap parts used which has caused me to continually go in to have recalls fixed. While there they end up causing more issues causing me thousands in repair bills. I have scheduled with independent car repair shop for them to give me estimate of repairing the above items for January 10 the first date they had available.
The gasket/seal surrounding the windshield on the passenger side front windshield was breaking off in sections. I had the dealer look at it while it was in the shop for some other recall work since I had only noticed it the day or so before. I was told it was the Pillar Moulding was coming apart but it was not a covered item. (Oct 2022) and the gasket itself was a wear and tear item. The gasket has continued to come off and has now caused the windshield to leak substantially.
In 2019 the Front Passenger B Pillar came loose and flew off while driving, this has been repaired. In 2022 the windshield A pillar came loose and had been repaired by myself. Now in 2023 the Front Driver B Pillar is coming loose and is pending repair. There is an existing safety report for these same issues, PE 23-001.
Windshield trim flew off on the freeway going 65mph causing damage to a vehicle behind me. This problem has been reported to my nearest ford dealership.
My two back doors wont lock or unlock. Very frustrating
2017 Ford Explorer windshield trim is starting to come off. Pieces have flown off behind the vehicle.
windshield molding is falling apart. Windshield cowl fell apart and had to be replaced. Now rest of molding falling apart, as well as interior door molding.
Rubber front windshield trim is deteriorating in the sun. Pieces are braking off while driving & causes a whistling sound.
The passenger side exterior windshield pillar trim piece flew off while driving on I20 west of Dallas Tx. Could have hit the car behind me.
The side Window Molding and mounting panel broke off while driving. When it broke off it could have hit a person or vehicle causing significant injury or damage, luckily it just narrowly missed the vehicle in the lane next to us. As this broke off while we were driving on the freeway we were unable to stop and retrieve the piece. Additionally, the molding along the side windows on the front doors is starting to detach. I'm seriously nervous to even drive this car anywhere because pieces seem to be randomly detaching and breaking off.
I was driving the speed limit on the thruway and my passenger side windshield outer trim flew off of my vehicle! It almost hit the vehicle behind me and cause myself and the vehicle behind me to swerve as it happened so suddenly it was startling.
Windshield trim on both sides is broken and some is missing. It is available for inspection if done soon, I’m afraid to drive it much as it is, so I need to get it repaired. I’m concerned it could fly off and hit another vehicle and cause an accident, or my windshield could come out. I have not gotten service to look at it but will be soon if recall isn’t done.
Black plastic surround trim pieces of windshield and side door pillar are coming unglued and flying off at cruise speeds on highway without any warning or indication that it is about to happen. This presents a startle-effect distraction to the driver, possibly leading to lose of control of vehicle and/or impact hazards to following vehicles and pedestrians. Vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection and repair, and we were advised by the Maintenance Advisor to be on the look-out for a possible recall from Ford because they had been receiving a lot of these types of complaints. This has happened three separate times on this vehicle, each side of the windshield separated, and one side pillar is separating now.
Windshield rubber trim has almost entirely come off. I'm concerned that the plastic trim is next. You can hear the air coming into the car through the gap and now during a heavy rainstorm on 95 I had water coming into the vehicle. I spoke to the dealership where I have the vehicle serviced when it first happened and told them I had read on the Ford Owners forum that this was a known problem and still no recall. At that time I was told it would cost hundreds of dollars to replace. I didn't have the funds then, and I don't have them now but I am forced to repair it at my expense because it is very dangerous and getting worse.
Windshield trim panels have come off vehicle while driving in normal conditions. This includes the factory installed drivers and passengers side moldings as well as numerous replacement pieces. Local dealership states there are no issues with components.
I had a piece of window trim fly off while I was driving on the highway at 70 mph. When it flew off, it may have hit another car. With the piece gone, I am not unable to open the hatch and the dome lights stays on for a considerable amount of time. There is no way to turn off the dome lights, you have to wait for them to go off, which is sometimes more than 10 minutes. When the piece was replaced, the hatch worked as normal. I had the window trim replaced and the same thing happened. I was traveling down the highway over 70 mph and the piece flew off in heavy traffic. I, again, have not been able to open the hatch nor turn off of the dome lights.
Windshield trim became detached while driving 70 mph on the freeway.
While driving on the interstate at speed of around 65mph, plastic piece that is mounted between windshield and passenger side door detached and flew into following traffic
This vehicle has many blind spots and the blind spot alert only works sometimes. The locks only work sometimes too. It consistently does not lock the passenger side door with the lock or the key fob. When I was in traffic someone was able to open the door.
windshield trim coming off before 5 year mark. had part of the trim come off and go flying along making a bad sound at highway speeds. had a about a 1 feet chunk fly off and hit the car behind me on the interstate.
Both front plastic windshield covers have flown off on the highway traveling around at rate of 65. The passenger side detached and flew off in one piece and the driver side only half of it flew off after cracking in half.
Pillar molding keeps flying out while driving. I have replaced 3 times and the last ones have flown off while driving. Thank God another vehicle has not been hit. It’s $150 every time I have replace them.
Driving 70 mph on Interstate -10 the window seal came off and a side panel adjacent to the window flew off of the Explorer. I had to pay for the two parts and labor charges. I had the trim piece and the window seal replaced at a Ford dealership. The Ford Represenative told me, “Ford is aware it's been a problem”. At the present the rubber seal around the doors are coming apart from the frame.
The driver side exterior black glossed facia on the "A" frame broke off while I was driving on the freeway at 80 miles per hour (speed limit). I did not see where it went, and luckily there were no cars behind me, but in a different situation it could have caused serious accidents. Much like their existing recall to replace roof racks. I called the dealer to get it replaced, and their response was "oh, ya this thing falls off all the time." There was no indication that it was loose.
The locks on my vehicle are going out one door at a time. Seems like a reoccurring problem for many Ford Explorer owners. No warnings given. Key fobs don't work only manual opening of the lock by pulling it up.
The windshield trim, A post, drivers side is loose and in jeopardy of falling off. I am going to have this repaired. But, should this come off during driving it could affect another driver. I have seen multiple vehicles like mine missing these pieces. Please investigate and see if a recall is needed to avoid accidents on our freeways.
As I was driving 70mph on the interstate my driver’s side windshield pillar molding flew off.
My wife took her 2017 Ford Explorer XLT to South Carolina from Florida. Upon her return last night, on 5 Jun 23 she was driving through Georgia and she heard a vibration coming from the drivers side windshield and then all of a sudden it stopped. When she parked inside our garage she noticed the drivers side A Pillar moulding trim piece had departed the vehicle and was missing. PN is BB5Z-7803145-AA.
The locks on the doors do not all unlock at the same time or lock at the same time. The passenger door has locked and would not unlock. My daughter had to climb through car to get out. If there’s an accident my kids can not safely exit the vehicle due to the locks. You can’t unlock it either from the inside. It randomly will unlock on its own.
On March 22, 2023 at approximately 10:15 am CDT, while heading south on Interstate 310 in Kenner, Louisiana, the passenger side windshield molding flew off the car while traveling just over 60 mph. I was coming out of a curve from exiting I-10W onto I-310. Not sure if it hit another vehicle as there were other vehicles in general area at the time, but did not see exactly where part landed. The part was not recoverable for inspection. There were no previous warning messages or noticeable issues with the part on the vehicle prior to the incident. I brought vehicle to Ford dealer and was told there is no recall for this item and the cost to replace is $396.80 for parts and labor at my expense. I believe this is a defect and should be reviewed with the manufacturer. I have seen two other Ford Explorers in New Orleans and Kenner with the same issue.
Yesterday I was driving on the highway and the molding next to windshield driver's side of the car flew away. We heard a loud nose when we stopped, we saw that the molding was complete gone. It could have hit another vehicle or a person
Driver side A pillar windshield molding came flying off while driving on highway at 70 mph on I95. It detached from vehichle and slammed into my windshield caused it to crack and caused multiple scratches. Then flew over my vehichle and landed in the lane of travel, multiple other explorer owners said they experienced the same issues and dealer told me it was a common issue on these vehicles but no recall ha been issued. No warning lights or inspection by insurance.
Windy conditions here driving along highway and the windshield cover blew off and unsure if hit another car or not but this should not be blowing off a vehicle which I'll have to now replace in addition to a safety hazard to others driving
The A-pillar trim is coming off on both sides. I currently have a recall for the roof rails for the same type problem (dealer is booked out) where they can also fly off while driving. I googled the A-pillar concern I am having and it seems to be wide spread.
The windshield trim has fallen off twice, almost hitting the vehicles behind us. We are about to replace them a 3rd time.
Panels by windshield one flew off on interstate and other is loose I'm scared this going rip off and cause an accident I see all same models have same issue. Please recall asap. I need this fixed and is a manufacturing defect.
While driving down the highway the windshield trim molding flew off vehicle on the driver’s side. At a later date the passenger one also flew off while driving on the highway with a vehicle behind me. Luckily never hit it. Since then I have seen numerous Ford Explorers with the same incident and spoke with them with the same occurrence.
While driving at normal highway speeds, the piece of black trim on the passengers side of windshield flew off. Thankfully I was alone on the road so it did not strike another passenger. I took the vehicle to Ford. The service managed admitted that they had several issues with pieces falling off, but since it was not under warranty or recall I had to pay full price to have it fixed. This could have easily caused damage to another vehicle. I've noticed almost daily several Ford Explorers driving around with trim missing due to this same issue.
Passenger side A-Pillar Front Molding Outer Trim Shield detached from vehicle while driving.
The power liftgate on my Ford Explorer slammed down on me when I attempted to put groceries into my car in the store parking lot. My liftgate had given no warning signs of malfunction, and then one day I open it with the key fob button, it opens all the way and while it was opening I was standing ready to load groceries into the back and the second it reached the fully open position, it came slamming down on my head. I am so fortunate that I was not holding my baby when this occurred. I could have been seriously injured if I had been standing at a different angle. The liftgate opens with the interior button in the vehicle and with the key fob, but once it is fully open it comes slamming down.
Door trim coming off of my well maintained 2017 Explorer in 3 places. Estimate for repair was obtained from Ford garage but I am angry I have to pay for this as it is no fault of mine that this is happening to my vehicle. I am worried these pieces will fly off and be a hazard to other drivers on the road, as I keep reading statements of this happening to others. Ford should stand behind their products when this is a potential safety hazard.
Side moldings on the windshield came off flying into oncoming traffic. Had them replaced and then had to go back in again to have them reattached cause they came lose again.
Exterior windshield trim on passenger side. Yes it is available for inspection. This part flew off of our vehicle while driving on the highway. This part could have hit another vehicle and caused harm. Yes this is a known issue when I took my vehicle to Corwin Ford in Springfield MO. Service representative stated that this is under an Investigation for recall. Vehicle has not been seen by any other than service department with dealer. No warnings or messages of any kind.
While driving on the interstate going the speed limit of 70 mph the plastic windshield trim on the left side of the vehicle (driver’s side) became loose and flew off. This was alarming and caused a distraction that could have resulted in an accident. The trim piece is about 2-3 feet long and could have caused damage to the vehicles behind us. Or worse an accident. The trim appears to have also damaged the left side view mirror when it flew off as there are scratches and paint missing from the mirror housing now. Upon inspection of the location of the trim it appears there were plastic tabs holing on the trim that broke off. Due to safety the trim piece itself was not able to be recovered. The plastic seal around the windshield looks to be damaged as well. This is a major safety issue we feel Ford should address with a recall. Please advise. Thank you.
The rubber lining around my windshield is falling off. It’s breaking into parts all across my windshield and is coming apart. It’s my understanding this is a common problem with my year make and model.
While driving on the freeway the passenger side windshield side panel flew off the car completely. It looks as though the clips that hold it on all failed. This seems to be a known issue with this model of car.
On December 19, 2022, while driving to work in the morning on Interstate 580 I heard some cracking noises coming from outside my vehicle then all of a sudden I see something fly off the right side of my windshield. I immediately looked in my rearview mirror and see a piece of what appeared to be plastic bouncing off the ground luckily no one was hurt nor did it hit another car but it could have easily considering the force with which it ripped off. Once I arrived at work I noticed the right side of the windshield trim panel was gone there were no warning lights or alert notices on the vehicle prior to this incident. I had this same piece replaced approx 3-4 years ago believing that it was our fault (per the service department at the Ford dealership) for driving the truck through a brush-type carwash since then we NEVER returned to those types of carwashes. The car is available for inspection as we have not had the part replaced. In January I came across a news article in USA TODAY regarding this same issue occuring to others yet no recall has been issued!
In October, 2022 I was traveling on interstate 75 in GA. Heard a strange sound in front of vehicle. When I stopped later, I noticed that the trim along the edge of my windshield was no longer there. Upon arriving in FL, later that week, I had Sunrise Ford in Ft. Pierce replace that windshield trim. They said that it was a pretty common problem.
Front drivers side trim piece for windshield flew off going 75mph on interstate. Had it replace and did it again a few months later. Passenger side is loose but has not come off yet.
I was driving in the highway and one of the roof racks went off flying and almost hit the car behind me. After I stopped I checked the other rack and it is also lose and coming off.
IN JANUARY 2021 I had a recall for the roof rails on my 2017 Ford Explorer - it took them a year to get the parts due to covid but they finally fixed the roof rails. About one month ago the roof rails started to pop back up - I made appointment at local Ford Dealership in Fuquay Varina, NC. The told me the recall was closed and they were not responsible for them coming up again as they repaired them for the recall. Once recall is closed out that is it .. nothing can be done. Is this correct? They finally agreed to cover 60 percent and I would have to pay 40 percent. Is this correct. Why should I have to pay out of pocked when the repair did not fix the problem. I contacted Ford at [XXX],[XXX] and they told me the same thing and said I only had until December 21 to make a decision. How can this be fair. Please help. Sunroof leaked & water dripped into top center light assembly and down either side of the windshield support frames, then into the back of the plastic panels under them, continuing down the supports that lead to far left & right frames and into the carpet under the rubber mats.Very concerned about water mixing with electrical parts of the lights in the overhead area over the dash & starting a fire.Tried to open sun roof so I could wipe the channels dry and reclose sunroof but the electric components to it stopped working probably due to water damage,so sunroof was now partially opened to the environment. Vehicle is available at my home in my driveway mostly covered by a blue tarp until I take it to the Ford dealer next week on Thursday to get inspected, checked & fixed (I hope). Was initially scared the water leak mixing with electricity of the overhead front lights & dripping behind the dash panel on either side of the front seats might create a spark and catch something on fire, but got fortunate and didn’t happen.Do not know if Ford dealer can reproduce it until they check it next weeThurs, but one of representatives at dealership repair shop mentioned they are aware of a common problem where if the sunroof is not cleaned & checked regularly the drain channels can get clogged and cause water to leak inside the car-my reply “why would Ford built car that leaks through the roof when it rains”, could leak into electrical components inside the car-got no reply. Asked if this was the problem if Ford would fix it and pay for it and reply was we have to check it first to see what causes it and go from there. Told them I don’t use the sunroof and have not opened it, and was told it can still happen.Best friend saw it, have not reported it to police, insurance company will not look at it unless I submit a claim which I haven’t yet.Waiting to hear how much it will cost.No warning signs of problem until water started dripping from front overhead lights.
After having the fan replaced on my vehicle less than 200 miles put on it the AC compressor went out.
Window trim on the winshield flew off while driving. Apparently this is a common issue with explorers, as when I went to the Ford Dealership to inquire about replacement they knew exactly what i was talking about and that they have tons of people coming in about it and that they are shocked that it hasnt been a recall so far. I was told that even the owner of the dealership has an explorer and it happened to theirs as well. When the trim flew off i was driving on the interstate going 70 mph- Not only is it faulty but if it were to hit someone they could be injured.
The windshield trim has flown off of my car twice. It's happened twice bc I repaired and then 3 mos. later it happened again. The 1st time it flew off I was driving home in rush hour traffic in downtown fort worth, tx and it flew off into the oncoming traffic. I could have seriously injured someone or caused a wreck, having car parts flying off at high rates of speed in the middle of a major city.
Water pump failed and coolant leaked into the engine
I received two letters about this recall and scheduled an appointment with a ford dealer. When I showed up for the appointment they said it would take them a few days to even look at the vehicle and if the recall was not valid I would be charged. This was at the Bell Ford dealer in Phoenix.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that after his wife exited the vehicle from the front driver’s side door, while attempting to open the rear driver’s side door, the vehicle began to roll backwards and knocked her to the ground. The contact's wife was taken to the hospital to seek medical attention but was not injured. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,281. The contact has stated that they have been in communicate with several Ford dealerships as well as their corporate offices. Neither of them have been able to replicate the issue and resolve it.

2017 ford 62,000 miles got vehicle brand new. On the freeway water light appears low coolant high temperature. I take vehicle water pump needed to be replaced. Vehicle is 2000 miles over and 5 Months over the warranty
The front windshield passenger side trim. Plastic trim flew off the windshield while driving 65 miles an hour in Tennessee on Hwy 111 near cookeville. It flew off but I was able to retrieve it from the side of the road. It could easily have hit a car behind or beside me. A flying object of any type at 65 miles an hour is dangerous. No inspection by a dealer or anyone has been done. I did get a verbal estimate of repair at 600.00 or more by a Ford dealer. They have to remove the windshield to repair it. The only warning I got was when I heard it flap once or twice and then saw it fly off. I believe the cause is due to Ford using plastic A clips and a plastic trim. 8 plastic A clips are one the windshield and then the trim pops on with a little strip of tape. All but 1 A clip is broken and a piece of the trim that attached to the A clip was still attached to the car. When you research this incident you see that it has occurred on many other vehicles and when I spoke to the Ford service center they knew exactly what I was talking about. So Ford is aware of this issue.
Window trim flew off while driving striking another cars windshield. Causing that driver to swerve.
Airbag light illuminated on dash board. No airbags in vehicle working. Have taken vehicle to the dealership 7-9 times to be serviced, always told it is a sensor that is loose or a seatbelt. This was not reported on the Carfax when I got the vehicle and started shortly after. I was once told none of the airbags in the bag of the vehicle were functioning but taping the senor (under the seat) with electrical tape fixed it. So many recalls on this vehicle, too dangerous to drive with no working airbags. Also the recall on the roof racks cause my vehicle to leak when it rained, ford service told me this was not possible. never looked at the problem and after the recall was fixed (after I asked twice) the vehicle stopped leaking, now the sunroof does not work. I have contacted Ford Cooperate about these issues also and they refused to help.
Both back doors of explorer closed at same time and back window completely shattered. It was cracked around edges and had a giant hole in it. (Husband took the photos and didn’t take one of whole window.)
When I had to drive with 1 inch of snow on the road it felt like my rear end was going to come out of my car. My rear end was all over the place and has been getting worse when driving in snow and rain. This is putting my children life at risk especially since there's a recall on my vehicle and there's still no parts to fix it. I want a rental car until someone gets this issues fixed! Someone is seriously going to be injured or this problem and the recall that can't be fixed. I'm scared for my safety to even drive it in the snow or rain but I have to work. This is a huge issue and I'm not sure why this is still an ongoing issue
2 open recalls with no solution or date of resolution to be given.
I have 4 recalls on my vehicle that multiple Ford Dealerships tell me that they can not fix because of parts not being available or no remedy is available. This has been going on for almost a year now. With these recalls, I feel that my car is not safe to drive. What needs to be done.
The keyless entry door panel on the driver’s side door is coming undone and vibrates while driving. Others have said theirs has come off the vehicle while driving. Will be contacting the dealership.
Ford Explorer 2017 SYNC/APIM malfunction. Touch screen and controls stop responding almost right after system starts. Troubleshoots indicate to perform master reset, software update, battery replacement but no difference. Software update is risky due system becomes unresponsive as per the original issue. Safety issues include but not limited to the responsiveness of controls as -GPS becomes unavailable -Navigation stop working/updating which indicates wrong directions and enter unwanted roads ending into a safety issue -AC or Heating can't be controlled, then depending of situation, this can affect health -Radio volume can't be modified, this can cause a safety issue -USB SYNC iOS/Android can't connect as systems is unresponsive, if it gets connected, navigation is affected.
The clear trim panels by the driver side door with the electronic numbers to unlock the doors, came off while I was driving on the highway going 70mph. Which resulted in lights going off on on in the cabin of the car, as well as my back tailgate flying open while driving. The clear panel was attached to wires which was reported to me to have caused multiple fuses to be blown one of which was the tailgate door. Once I pulled over to close the door, the door had to be forced closed and the warning light tailgate ajar remained on as well as all the lights in the cabin remained on. Once I was able to park my car none of the lights would turn off once the engine was off and the car would not lock. Both of these panels on the drivers side and passenger side had to be replaced, in addition to the front pillars on the windshield due to all of them coming detached from the car. This is a huge safety concern that needs to be addressed. The owner of the car had to pay for all repairs.
I have been trying to get the first repair done, now the second. (I also have another Ford vehicle that has a recall that I haven't been able to schedule. I am told parts are unavailable or the repairs can't be done for months. Calls to Ford, like today to the number on the new recall, leaves you holding for over 36 minutes. Then it turned out to be a dealership in Pennsylvania. The chat function doesn't work. If you want to send any sort of email, from my experience I had to agree to receiving ads. The other recall is for VIN [XXX]. I am concerned about continuing to allow my family to drive these vehicles. Can you advise how I can proceed? Thanks. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I have 3 broken motor mounts in my 2017 Ford Explorer that is causing loss of power in my vehicle. I see that the 2020-2021 Ford Explorer was recalled for the same issue. My mechanic has had several ford explorers in for the same issue. This is going to cause accidents if not recalled to be fixed.
Smell in car when driving on freeway or using air conditioner. Burning eyes, nose running, sore throat, feeling sick.
the ribs that are on the roof of the car are loose
We had a catastrophic failure of the passenger side rear toe link. Causing loss of control of the vehicle No injuries thankfully The dealership and the Ford motor declined to toe the vehicle for repair due to its age. So a new part was ordered through Ford and work was do e locally Less than 30 miles later we had the same catastrophic failure of the same part. This time my entire family including my 14 month old were in the car and we were very lucky that we were not killed but once again there were no injuries or collisions. The part is on recall and their is no remedy part available at this time for replacement. The dealership and Ford are grossly aware and have declined to assist at this time. Ford states its the dealerships responsibility and the dealership states they can do nothing without an authorization from Ford. Because we have experienced 2 catastrophic failures that nearly killed us I think that these cars should be pulled from the road for everyone's safety. I also feel that since their is no part available to remedy the situation Ford should institute something so that owners are not without vehicles and can care for their families and go to work i am very disappointed We avoided death two times due to this recall
Passenger side windshield trim flew off while at highway speeds without any warning of it being broken or in need of repair. Flew off into traffic behind me.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine shield fractured and detached from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the engine shield and the failure was remedied. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,300.

There seems to be an issue with exhaust entering the cabin of 2017 Ford Explorers. There is also a TSB out for this, but Ford refuses to do a recall. Exhaust should not enter the cabin of a vehicle. http://www.mhq.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/TSB-17-0044-Exhaust-Odor-in-Vehicle.pdf Below are some links that show others are having this issue. There is also a class-action lawsuit now against Ford for not fixing this issue. http://www.explorerexhaustsettlement.net/ https://www.motorbiscuit.com/the-ford-explorer-carbon-monoxide-lawsuit-finally-has-a-settlement/ https://www.motor1.com/news/314705/ford-explorer-exhaust-fumes-issue/ https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2019-ford-explorer-owners-say-suvs-making-them-sick/ https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/bad-or-burnt-exhaust-smell-in-cabin-during-hard-acceleration.323597/page-117 https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-explorer-owners-carbon-monoxide-nhtsa/ https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Explorer/2017/exhaust_system/exhaust_fumes_in_cabin.shtml
A Pillar trim broke and flew off. This happened on both sides of the windshield. Passenger side hit windshield and ejected over vehicle. Drivers side slammed to drivers door window then continued on behind vehicle. If window had been open the sharp edges plastic would have hit driver. Motorcycles or convertibles behind vehicle may also be in danger.
Initially the cars check engine light came on intermittently for about 3 days, then one day while driving the wrench light came on and the car immediately started decelerating - almost as if I was breaking hard, and would not accelerate over 30. After turning it on and off multiple times the light went away for days until my appointment with the mechanic, that same day it came back on. We went to a Ford dealership and they said it was the throttle body and repaired it. Two weeks later the same issue occurred. I know this was a big issue in 2016 and earlier models, I believe the problem was never fixed in 2017 models. Our car is currently in the shop and they are "emailing Ford" about what to do. The first incident I was on the interstate when I stopped abruptly and the second was on the highway. I luckily had no one behind me both times otherwise this could've easily caused an accident.
Roof rail came off on drivers side, passenger side is rattling and I'm worried it's going to come off while I'm driving and cause an accident.
We have approximately 37000 miles on our 2017 Explorer. While driving on the interstate yesterday, it began making a near continuous wind vibration sound around the windshield. We stopped several times on our trip trying to determine where the sound was coming from—roof rack, something under hood, trim pieces, windshield support areas?—but we’re never able to find cause or stop the noise. We have an appointment at a Ford dealership later this week.
After a heavy rain water accumulated inside the car front passenger floor and under the seat. After inspecting I could not determine where the water came in. I feel this is a safety concern due to the electrical wiring under the seat
ONE WEEK AGO, MY FAMILY AND I TOOK A TRIP IN A RECENTLY PURCHASED EXPLORER WHERE WE ALL EXPERIENCED SYMPTOMS OF POISONING. WE ARE CURRENTLY GETTING THE VEHICLE SERVICES BY THE DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, WE ARE NOT CONFIDENT THAT THE FIX WILL BE CORRECTED AS IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE LOCATION WHERE THE LEAK CAN TAKE PLACE. I'D LIKE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE INVESTIGATION FOR THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTION IN THE FORD EXPLORERS. IF YOU HAVE ANYONE TO POINT US TOO IN REGARDS TO MAKING THIS A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THIS NEEDS TO HAVE MORE ATTENTION FOR ALL CARS AND HIGHER SAFETY STANDARDS SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED ON BEHALF OF THE CONSUMER, IN MY OPINION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND MY FAMILY LOOKS FORWARD TO HELP THIS INVESTIGATION.

WHEN ACCELERATING ON TO THE HIGHWAY OR UPHILL, THE INSIDE CABIN SMELLS OF FUMES. I BELIEVE IT IS CARBON MONOXIDE. WHEN THE CAR IS WARMING UP IN THE MORNING, THE CABIN SMELLS DO FUMES, I BELIEVE ITNIS CARBON MONOXIDE. I HAVE PURCHASED A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR AND WILL INCLUDE IT IN THE CABIN.
1ST TIME I HAD MY CAR WASHED THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH THE LUGGAGE RACKS ON TOP OF THE EXPLORER LIFTED UP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN EL CAJON CA (WERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED) AND THEY WANTED $500 TO FIX IT. DID NOT GIVE ME A TICKET WITH THE PROBLEM LISTED ON IT. IT WAS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THEY NOW LIFT IN HEAVY WIND OR IF I TRY TO WASH THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. NOT SURE OF DATE WAS IN 2017 RIGHT AFTER BOUGHT THE CAR.

REAR CAMERA GLITCHES OUT AND IMAGE IS DISTORTED ON MANY CASES WHEN BACKING UP.. SIMILAR TO CONCERNS ON RECENT RECALL ON NEWER MODELS. ADDITIONALLY, BACK ELECTRIC 12V PORT DOES NOT DISENGAGE AND HAS LIVE CONNECTION EVEN WITH NO KEY IN IGNITION. FINALLY, VENTS NEXT TO PASSENGER SIDE DOOR APPEARS TO EXUDE HOT AIR INTO CAR THAT MAY BE LINKED WITH EXHAUST WHEN CAR IS ON.

PURCHASED MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER 2/12/2018, BOUGHT NEW FROM DEALER, AND NOW HAS 6029 MILES ON IT. THE WINDSHIELD SEAL AND ROOF RAILS HAVE DETERIORATED AND COMING AWAY FROM THE SUV. BUT, THE PARTS THEY QUOTED ME WAS FOR FOUR PILLERS THAT GO ON EACH SIDE OF WINDSHIELD, NOTHING ABOUT A SEAL. I WAS INFORMED THIS IS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I BELIEVE IT IS A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURE AND SHOULD BE COVERED. QUOTED $982.01 TO REPAIR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND FORD SHOULD HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF IT. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THIS PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE TO GET WORSE AND WINDSHIELD COULD CRACK CAUSING VISION PROBLEMS UNEXPECTEDLY AND COULD CAUSE HARM/INJURY TO THE DRIVER. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED IN A ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAPPEN. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD FORD VEHICLES, BUT WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER AGAIN.
WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND ALL WINDOWS ARE CLOSE, IT HAS A CARBON DIOXIDE SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND I HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO LET THE AIR OUT.
MY FAMILY & I HAVE FELT DIZZY. LIGHT HEADED. HEADACHES, NAUSEA & NUMBNESS OF ARMS. WE SMELLED TOXIC FUMES & HAD A CHEMICAL TASTE IN OUR MOUTHS. ALL SYSTEMS POINT TO CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. WE CANT EVEN DRIVE OUR VEHICLE ANYMORE & STILL OWE $30,000.00 ON IT. IT'S VERY UNSAFE WE ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD DUE TO FADING OUT FROM OUR DANGEROUS SYMPTOMS!
Mileage: 41,000
THE TOP RAIL OF THE ROOF RACK OF THIS CAR ISN'T ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE VERY WELL AT ALL. I JUST LOST ONE WHILE GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY. AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP - IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS VERY MUCH AWARE OF. THE ROOF RACK IS IN TWO PIECES AND THE TOP PIECE IS FLIMSY AND JUST SNAPS IN. WHEN AIR GOT UNDER IT GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY - I HEARD IT POP AND REALIZED IT WAS OFF THE VEHICLE. IT'S LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T HIT ANY OTHER CARS (OR A MOTORCYCLE!).
Mileage: 23,000
COSMETIC PLASTIC PANELING HAS TWICE COME OFF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE. THE FIRST TIME IF WAS THE SILVER PLASTIC MOLDING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROOF RACK RAILS. THE SECOND TIME IT WAS A BLACK PIECE OF MOLDING JUST AFT OF THE PASSENGER WINDOW. FOR THE FIRST INSTANCE, A SMALL PIECE OF PLASTIC BROKE DUE TO WIND PRESSURE. THE SECOND INSTANCE REVEALED THAT THE PART WAS JUST GLUED ON IN TWO SPOTS. I HAVE STARTED NOTICING OTHER EXPLORERS IN GEORGIA/FLORIDA MISSING PIECES OF PLASTIC MOLDING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS IF THE PLASTIC COMES OFF AT A HIGH SPEED AND HITS A CAR BEHIND ME.

THE VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE PARKED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD MULTIPLE INSTANCES WHERE IT ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN, THE MOST NOTABLE BEING WHEN IT WILL APPLY FULL ACCELERATION WHILE IN A CORNER. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO BOTH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NETWORKS AND FORD CORPORATE WITH NO WILLINGNESS TO DOCUMENT THE ISSUES OR INVESTIGATE. THE DATE OF FIRST INSTANCE HAS BEEN NOTATED BELOW. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED DUE TO THESE SAFETY CONCERNS AND REPLACED PRIOR TO LEASE EXPIRATION. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING THE EXPLORER THE CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT SENSORS WENT HAYWARE, THEN THE NAVIGATOR, RADIO, HVAC, AND EVERYTHING ELSE FROZE DID COMMANDS ON ITS OWN. THE PART ASSIST MODE CAME ON IT OWN, STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WOULD NOT WORK AND CAR STARTED TO TAKE CONTROL. VERY SCARY AS THE CAR WAS TAKING COMMANDS I COULD NOT CONTROL. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM). MY VEHICLE IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY WOULD NOT HELP. VERY DANGEROUS, COST ME $1,200. FORD HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM ON EARLIER MODELS AND RECALLED, BUT NOT ON MINE. THIS FAILURE NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AND IF NOT FIXED COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL. FORD WAS NO HELP TO ME, VERY DISAPPOINT IN FORD AND THEIR NEGLECT TO MINE AND MY FAMILIES STAFEY.

I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND DROPPED MY BELT CLIP FOR MY CELL PHONE BETWEEN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND THE CENTER CONSOLE. I REACHED BETWEEN THE DRIVERS SEAT AND CENTER CONSOLE TO RETRIEVE MY BELT CLIP AND AS I BROUGHT MY HAND BACK UP THE BRACKET THE SEAT IS ATTACHED TO SLICED THE SIDE OF MY HAND/THUMB OPEN. BLOOD SHOT OUT IMMEDIATELY SO I DROVE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WHERE I RECEIVED SEVERAL STITCHES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TESTING THE VEHICLE WITH AN ELECTROMAGNETIC READING DEVICE, HE NOTICED A HIGH LEVEL ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEBANON FORD LOCATED AT (770 COLUMBUS AVE, LEBANON, OH 45036), WERE THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED BUT NOT REPAIRED. WE WERE DRIVING FORWARD ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER, A WRENCH LOGO APPEARED ON THE DASH DISPLAY, THEN WE COASTED THE CAR TO A STOP AT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEN WE SMELLED SMOKE, SAW FLAMES FLICKERING UP FROM THE HOOD, VACATED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED 911 AS THE FRONT OF THE CAR UNDER THE HOOD BURST INTO FLAMES. THE CAR WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. CITY POLICE ARRIVED TO CONTROL TRAFFIC AWAY FROM OUR BURNING CAR, AND THEN THE FIRETRUCK AND FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE CAR WAS TOWED AWAY ON A FLATBED.

VERY STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE CABIN. I WAS USING THE CAR'S AUTOMATIC START FEATURE AND WHEN I GOT IN CAR TO DRIVE KIDS TO SCHOOL, YOU COULD SMELL EXHAUST THROUGHOUT CAR. JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED CAR AND NOTICED THIS ISSUE ON 2ND DAY OF OWNERSHIP. WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ODOR SEEMS TO GO AWAY BUT IF YOU STOP AT A LIGHT OR ARE IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC, FUMES QUICKLY BUILD UP AGAIN.

WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON MY FLAT DRIVEWAY MY DAUGHTER BACKED HER FORD EDGE INTO THE REAR OF THE EXPLORER AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE EXPLORER WHICH WAS NOT RUNNING AND WAS TURNED OFF AND IN PARK AT THE TIME ROLLED OFF THE DRIVEWAY. ROLLED THROUGH AN OPEN LOT BEHIND OUR HOUSE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL THROUGH THE OPEN LOT AND CROSSED THE NEIGHBORHOOD STREET BEHIND OUR HOUSE. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED THROUGH ANOTHER VACANT LOT, AND ROLLED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT THROUGH ANOTHER LOT. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ONLY AFTER STRIKING A TREE AND COMING TO REST. IN ALL THE VEHICLE TRAVELED APPROX 300 YARDS AND HAD IT NOT STRUCK THE TREE IT WOULD HAVE CROSSED A BUSY TWO LANE ROAD. I GOT TO THE VEHICLE IT WAS LOCKED AND IN PARK. THERE WAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF FRONT END DAMAGE AND THERE WAS NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO OUR HOUSE BUT IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN ANY FURTHER.

EXHAUST AND CARBON MONOXIDE COMING INTO CABIN OF CAR. FORD SAID THEY FIXED THE ISSUE WITH TSB17-0044, BUT THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. MY WIFE AND I GET DIZZINESS AND THE KIDS COMPLAIN OF THE SMELL AND HEADACHES.
I WENT OUT TO MY CAR THIS MORNING TO GO TO WORK AND FOUND THAT THE REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE HAD SHATTERED. IT SEAMS LIKE IT MAY HAVE ORIGINATED FROM WHERE THE WIPER GOES THROUGH THE REAR GLASS. I KNOW THAT IT WASN'T BROKEN BY ANYONE BECAUSE I HAVE SECURITY CAMERAS. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY.

HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, SIZE 255/50/R20/105H FOR FORD EXPLORER 2017 WORE OUT UPON INSPECTION. MILEAGE WAS UNDER 21, 000 AND TIRE THREAD WAS REALLY BAD. NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER SAID IT WAS MY RESPONSIBLITY. HANKOOK TIRES ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST FOR 50,000 MILES. THESE TIRES SHOULD BE RECALLED. DEALER WAS ABLE TO PAY FOR 60% OF TIRES AND REPLACED WITH NEW ONE, HOWEVER, I HAD TO PAY FOR 40%. RIDICULOUS NEVER HAVE I PAYED FOR NEW TIRE WITH A LEASED CAR. WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH FORD. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, TIRES NEED TO BE RECALLED, NOTICED SAME TIRES ON BRAND NEW FORD EXPLORER 2020. DEALERSHIP HAS PICTURES ETC.

PURCHASED 2017 FORD EXPLORER DECEMBER 2017 WITH ORIGINAL HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE2 255/50R20 105H TIRES. HAVE 17,000 MILES AND HAVE BEEN ROTATED AT EACH OIL CHANGE; BEEN HAVING EXTREME TREADWEAR AND WAS TOLD BY THE AUTHORIZED DEALER THAT ITHE TIRES ARE BAD AND NEED REPLACED. DEALER SUGGESTED TO CONTACT HANKOOK DIRECTLY BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES. I CONTACTED HANKOOK CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES ARE BAD BUT THEY HAVE TO BE 4/32 TO GET A PRO RATED DISCOUNT, AT THIS TIME I HAVE 1-3/32, 2- 4/32 AND 1- 5/32, THE FORD DEALER WOULD NOT HONOR THE NEW CAR WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY SAID IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE AND HANKOOK NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF IT. MEANWHILE, NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE BAD TIRES AT ONLY 17000 MILES, EVEN THOUGH THE EXPLORER IS RATED ON TOP FOR ROLLOVERS WITH A BLOWOUT... THIS IS ANOTHER DANGEROUS ISSUE SIMILAR TO THE FIRESTONE DISASTER. ARE THEY GOING TO WAIT UNTIL THERE ARE DEATHS BEFORE THEY START REPLACING THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES?

I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TELL ME THAT THERE ALL SERVICE WAS DONE. C@N YOU PLEASE ASSIST. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AT THOSE SPEEDS.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH ALL THE DOOR LOCKS IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN TRYING TO LOCK THE DOOR USING THE KEY FOB NON OF THE DOORS WILL LOCK WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. IN ORDER TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS YOU MUST DO SO MANUALLY BY PUSHING THE LOCK DOWN OR PULLING THE LOCK UP. YOU CANNOT USE THE KEY FOB OR THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DOOR. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR BY USING THE HANDLE ON THE INTERIOR SIDE OF THE DOOR EITHER. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH ALL OF THE LOCKS. I PURCHASED MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER ON FEB 14 2019 USED FROM A DEALER IN NC. A SHORT TIME AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I BEGAN SMELLING EXHAUST IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LOOKED OVER AT MY LOCAL DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SINPLY REPLOACED THE CABIN AIR FILTER WHICH WAS BLACK WHEN IT WAS REMOVED. THE ISSUE PERSISTS AND IS GETTING WORSE EVERY WEEK. THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND THE DEALER ACTED LIKE THEY HAS NEVER HEARD OF THE ISSUE AND DIDNT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THE COMPLAINT. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK WEEKLY UNTIL SOMETHING IS DONE AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE NEW OR USED. I FEEL AS THOUGH I AM BEING DISREGARDED AND MY FAMILY'S HEALTH AND SAFETY ARE AT RISK FROM THIS ISSUE!

FOR 2 YEARS PASSENGERS WERE GETTING PHYSICALLY ILL WHEN RIDING IN VEHICLE. KNOWN ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK WAS BROUGHT TO FORD'S ATTENTION IN 2018. CAR WAS REPAIRED WITH FORD'S PRESCRIBED FIX OPTIONS. CONTINUED ILLNESS PROMPTED LOCAL FORD DEALER TO RUN THEIR OWN HVAC TEST FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IN THE CABIN. MULTIPLE LEAKS WERE NOTED BY THE FORD DEALER AND ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE FORD DEALER THEN BROUGHT IN AND INDEPENDENT HVAC COMPANY TO TEST FOR CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKS AFTER REPAIRS. THE REPORT INDICATED 12 PPM IN THE CABIN OF CARBON MONOXIDE. ANOTHER TEST WAS DONE ON ANOTHER 2015 FORD EXPLORER AS A BASELINE, AND READING REPORTED 0 PPM. FORD DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO DISCUSS OPTIONS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE INCIDENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE WAS STILL OCCURRING. WE REQUESTED FORD PURCHASE BACK THE VEHICLE AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AFTER HAVING MULTIPLE MEDICAL TESTS DONE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. FORD HAS OUR FILED COMPLAINT BUT AS OF NOW THERE IS NO RESOLUTION.

TAKATA RECALL AFTER PURCHASING 2017 EXPLORER NOTICED SEVERE HEADACHES, DIGESTION PROBLEMS, DROWSINESS, DIFFICULTY FOCUSING DUE TO CARBON MONOXIDE ENTERING THE CABIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL BUT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THAT THEY SOLVED THE ISSUE. ALSO NOTICED A RUMBLING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN TURNING LEFT UNDER ACCELERATION, FEELING LIKE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WOULD NEVER EXPECT SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO OCCUR ON A $47K CAR WITH ONLY 30K MILES.

I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE OVER THE LAST YEAR. WHEN I HAVE ACCELERATED QUICKLY WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY , THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL REMAIN DEPRESSED DOWN. THE CAR WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE WITH MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. I THEN APPLY THE BRAKES PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES AND 1) PULL OFF ROAD IN THE FIRST INSTANCE OR 2) GAS PEDAL WILL RETURN TO NORMAL POSITION AND CAR WILL DECELERATE

WE HAVE BEEN SMELLING CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CABIN DURING HEAVY ACCELERATION (MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY FOR EXAMPLE); IT IS ESPECIALLY WORSE WHEN THE AC OR HEAT IS ON. WE HAD IT "FIXED" SEVERAL MONTHS AGO WHEN FORD OFFERED A SOLUTION TO PLUG GAPS. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND HAS NOT IMPROVED. WE OFTEN HAVE OUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR SAFETY. WE'VE CONTACTED FORD AND THE LOCAL DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO NO AVAIL.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER PURCHASING IT, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK RATTLES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THEM 4 TIMES BEFORE THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED IT BUT IT STILL RATTLES. THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT.

GETTING BAD HEADACHES AND FEELING SLEEPY WHEN DRIVING MY FORD EXPLORER DON'T LIKE HAVING MY 7MONTH OLD IN THE CAR.
I WAS STUCK AT A STANDSTILL IN TRAFFIC ON A CITY HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY ON FATHER'S DAY WHEN THE DASH LIT UP WITH MULTIPLE WARNINGS SUCH AS "STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY," "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC," "STABILITY CONTROL OFF," AND "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE." I WAS NOT MOVING AND COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OVERHEATING. ROADSIDE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY DEALER. EVENTUALLY, TWO DAYS LATER, THE COMPUTER SAID WE NEEDED A NEW STEERING COLUMN (I THOUGHT A STEERING COLUMN SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE...). THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS, NO LEAKS, AND NO STRANGE NOISES. OF COURSE, I WAS PAST MY WARRANTY. PRETTY HEFTY BILL. THERE IS AN NEW RECALL FOR A REAR SUSPENSION PROBLEM THAT WAS ISSUED JUST DAYS EARLIER.
Mileage: 49,000
I HAVE A POPPING NOISE WHEN I TURN MY VEHICLE TO LEFT. I HAVE HAD AN AXLE AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED. IT CONTINUES TO MAKE A POPPING NOISE. I HAVE ALSO HAD 2 ALIGNMENTS AND MY REAR TIRES WORE BALD ON THE EDGES ANYWAY. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR A RATTLING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS UNDER STRESS. I HAVE HAD ALL THESE ISSUES WITHIN A SHORT TIME OF OWNING THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE TO HAVE THEM
I'M THE OWNER OF A 2017 FORD EXPLORER. AT THE TIME I WRITE THIS COMPLAINT MY SUV IS FOR THE FOURTH TIME AT THE DEALER SHIP, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM SINCE A BOUGHT IT IN SEPTEMBER 2017: EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN. 3 WEEKS ALREADY SINCE I DROPPED IT AT PLANET FORD. ON 05/24/2019 I WENT BECAUSE I'VE BEEN HAVING HEADACHES, DIZZINESS AND IRRITATED EYES WHILE BEHIND THE WHEEL OF MY SUV. I HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD THAT ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPAIR. I WENT LAST FRIDAY, 06/07/2019, TO ASK ABOUT MY CAR AND NO ONE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THE WINDSHIELD WASN'T CHANGED AT ALL. PLEASE LET ME INFORM THAT I HAVE PAID THE MOST EXPENSIVE WARRANTY THAT FORD HAS. LAST TIME MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALER THEY REPLACED THE COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THIS IS ONLY LIKE APPLYING A BAND-AID, IT ONLY LASTS UNTIL IT FALLS DOWN. MY COMMUTE IS 60 MILES EVERY DAY. I DRIVE TOLL WAYS WITH SPEED LIMITS OF 75 M/PH. MY SUV SMELLS LIKE SULFUR OR EXHAUST ODOR IN THE VEHICLE CABIN. THE ODOR IS PRESENT REGARDLESS OF VENTILATION MODE (RE-CIRCULATION OR FRESH-AIR). THIS CONDITION MAY BE WORSENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS HEAVILY ACCELERATED TO PASS TRAFFIC OR CARS OR FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF ACCELERATION, WHICH IS LOGICAL IF A DRIVE MORE THAN 54 MILES OF MY COMMUTE ON HIGHWAYS. IN THE FORD EXPLORER OWNER'S MANUAL YOU CAN READ: 'DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE IF YOU SMELL EXHAUST FUMES. CARBON MONOXIDE IS PRESENT IN EXHAUST FUMES. TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID ITS DANGEROUS EFFECTS.' THE SUV HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT RESOLUTION. THIS SUV IT IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME, THAT I DRIVE IT MORE THAN 300 MILES PER WEEK AND MY CHILDREN THAT ACCOMPANY ME AT THE BACK SEAT WERE THE 'SMELL' IS EVEN WORSE. COMPLAINTS FOR FUMES IN THE CABIN: 1 I WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD USE THE A/C ON RE-CIRCULATION. NOTHING WAS WRONG 2 CHANGED A VALVE 3.CHANGED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. 4. 3 WEEKS IN THE DEALER 05/24/2019.

EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE FROM THE FRONT CABIN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TERRIBLE ON WINDY DAYS AS IT GETS WORSE. BEST GUESS WOULD BE POOR DOOR SEAL AROUND THE LATCH AREA. DOOR RUBBER WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED BUT NO FIX. VERY NOISY IN CABIN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND ON BOTH DOORS THE GREASE AROUND THE CONTROL ARM FOR THE DOOR HAS COME AWAY AND BECOME SQUEAKY TWICE. SOMETHING DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ALIGNED PROPERLY.

STRONG BURNING SMELL AND EXHAUST LIKE SMELL ENTERING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL COMES IN THROUGH THE AIR VENTS AND IN THROUGH THE WINDOWS WHEN THEY ARE ROLLED DOWN. THE VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE IT IS BURNING AT TIMES WHILE OTHER TIMES IT PRODUCES A STRONG SULFUR SMELL. THIS ISSUE IS SPORADIC AND SEEMS TO OCCUR MOSTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RAN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN ACCELERATING RAPIDLY.
Mileage: 48,000
THE CAR LURCHES FOR THE FIRST 40-50 FEET AT SLOW SPEEDS WHILE APPLYING MINIMAL PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT HAPPENS THE INITIAL TIME PUTTING IT IN DRIVE AFTER EACH ENGINE START, REGARDLESS OF PUTTING IT IN REVERSE FIRST OR NOT. IT USED TO ONLY HAPPEN AFTER EVERY FEW STARTS, BUT HAS PROGRESSED TO EVERY SINGLE TIME NOW AND SOME CAN BE VERY AGGRESSIVE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE ISSUE 5 TIMES NOW, WITH THE 5TH TIME RESULTING IN THEM SAYING IT IS A "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE VEHICLE, WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHAT IS CAUSING IT. I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE "DOESN'T KNOW WHY IT IS DOING IT, BUT IT'S NORMAL." HE THEN PROCEEDED TO COMPARE THE CHARACTERISTIC TO SOMEONE POORLY RELEASING THE CLUTCH ON A MANUAL VEHICLE AND AGAIN, STILL CLAIMING THAT EVERYTHING IS PERFECTLY NORMAL.

SINCE A WEEK AGO I AM FEELING A STRONG SMELL IN THE VEHICLE ONCE I TURN IT ON AND WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITION IT INCREASES ALOT. I HAVE GOTTEN STRONG HEADACHES BECAUSE OF THIS ODOR AND MY PREOCUPATION IS THAT I AM WITH MY CHILDREN MOST OF THE TIME. I CALLED FOR A CHECK UP AND THEY GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT. MY PREOCUPATION IS THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

THERE IS AN EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN MAKING ME SICK, NAUSEA, HEADACHES, AND BURNING EYES. THE EXHAUST IS COMING IN THROUGH THE HEATING AND AIR SYSTEM AND IS MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN ACCELERATING AND WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. THE SMELL IS NOT AS NOTICEABLE WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. THE SMELL IS THE SAME WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE RECIRCULATE FEATURE IS ENABLED. TURNING OFF THE HEAT / AIR CONDITIONER SEEMS TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. IT IS DEFINITELY COMING INTO THE CABIN FROM THE HEAT AND A/C. I JUST LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND DISCOVERED ALL THE TALK ON THE INTERNET AND THAT FORD WAS OFFERING A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" INSPECTION THAT ENDED ON 12/31/18 WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY RECENTLY DEVELOPED THIS PROBLEM AND WE HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION FROM FORD OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND THE INSPECTION / REPAIR.
Mileage: 32,000
THE LINES TO THE REAR CABIN HEATING AND COOLING STARTED LEAKING R134, SO THE WHOLE CAR IS LOSING AIR CONDITIONING SINCE IT ALL TIES TOGETHER. THE CAR IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD, AND IS HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS, WHICH SHOULD BE QUITE EMBARRASSING TO AN EXPERIENCED AUTO MAKER LIKE FORD. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY BECAUSE THE CAR WAS IN COLORADO WHERE ROADS ARE SALTED IN THE WINTER, BUT THE LINES SHOULD BE ALUMINUM, SO THEY SHOULDN'T CORRODE FROM SALT.

BOUGHT MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER BRAND NEW AND IT HAD BEEN FINE UNTIL 3 MONTHS AGO WHEN WE STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE INSIDE OF THE CABIN. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE TURN ON THE CAR FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH THE AC OR REGULAR AIR TURNED ON BLOWING THROUGH THE VENTS. IN TWO MINUTES OR SO THE SMELL IS GONE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, REPLACED THE CABIN FILTER BUT SMELL REMAINS. TOOK IT AGAIN AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THEY ALSO SAID IT WASN'T CO2 OR AC GAS BECAUSE BOTH OF THOSE I SUPPOSEDLY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SMELL AS THEY HAVE NO ODOR. AS FAR AS I KNOW, CO2 SMELLS LIKE SMOKE THOUGH!! IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE OF CO2 COMPLAINTS IN THE CABIN, BUT APPARENTLY THAT WAS ACTUALLY WHEN MY CAR DIDN'T HAVE ANY SMELL... ANYWAYS, AFTER SEEING SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE I DECIDED TO REGISTER MINE HERE AS WELL. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO OR WHAT STEPS TO TAKE...

MY FATHER IN LAW BECAME CONCERNED AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER BECAUSE SOMEONE HE KNOWS HAD SEVERE HEALTH ISSUES FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING FROM HER FORD EXPLORER. HE URGED US TO PURCHASE A CO DETECTOR. I GOT ONLINE AND READ ABOUT SOME OF THE ISSUES WITH THE CAR AND DECIDED THIS WAS PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA. WE INSTALLED THE CO DETECTOR AND IT DID NOT TAKE LONG FOR IT TO START GOING OFF. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE "COURTESY SERVICE" THAT FORD RECOMMENDS FOR PEACE OF MIND. WE CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE DETECTOR GOING OFF FROM TIME TO TIME. MY WIFE ALSO COMPLAINS OF HEADACHES AND FATIQUE OFTEN, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR ANY DISTANCE. BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR ANOTHER SERVICE YESTERDAY AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED A PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE IN THE REAR, PASSENGER DOOR WHICH WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. TOOK THE CAR HOME, AND TWO HOURS LATER THE DETECTOR WENT OFF AGAIN. STILL NOT FIXED. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY AND WOULD LIKE FORD TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM FOR GOOD. THANK YOU.
I HAVE A TERRIBLE EXHAUST ODOR THAT ENTERS THE CAB OF MY CAR UPON ACCELERATION.
EXPLORER HAS LESS THAN 11000 MILES ON IT. SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR, UNDER MILD TO HEAVY ACCELERATION, SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS FEELS THE CABIN. AFTER DRIVING FOR 20-30 MIN MY WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 10 START TO EXPERIENCE FATIGUE, HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. BE CONCERNED ABOUT CO2 POISONING I HAVE BOUGHT AN AFTER MARKET DETECTOR WHICH HAS NOT, ALARMED. THE SMELL HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN STRONGER AND STRONGER AS THE CAR INCREASES IN MILEAGE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 8/8/18 AND THEY WANT TO ASK ABOUT IN CABIN AIR FILTERS, LIKE THAT FILTERS OUT EXHAUST GAS. LAUGHABLE AT BEST. THEN AGAIN AS A FIREFIGHTER WILL TELL YOU IF YOU SMELL SMOKE THERE IS FIRE.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING ACCELERATED, A STRONG ODOR OF SULFUR OR "ROTTEN EGGS" CONSUMES THE CABIN OF THE SUV. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN THE AIR SYSTEM IS IN ALL MODES, INCLUDING WHEN TURNED OFF. IT IS APPARENT THAT EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE CABIN WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ENDANGERING ALL PASSENGERS. THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT TWO WEEKS AT A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ON THIS ISSUE (REPROGRAMMED CLIMATE CONTROL, REAR SEAL CORRECTED) HOWEVER THE PROBLEM REMAINS AND HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. HEALTH CONCERNS HAVE BEEN ENDURED WITH DRIVER AND PASSENGERS DUE TO TOXICITY OF EXHAUST FUMES.
ORIGINAL TIRES THAT CAME WITH TRUCK VERTUS S1NOBLE2 255/50 R20 105 H ARE WORN OUT AFTER 15000 MILES OF NORMAL DRIVING..TREAD IS AT A MINIMUM AND TIRES LOOK WEAK ON SIDE WALLS...STARTING TO CRACK. TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 15000 MI

EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN UPON ACCELERATION. MY VEHICLE ALREADY HAD THE FORD RECOMMENDED REPAIR AT THE DEALER WHICH DID NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS WORSE NOW THAN WHEN IT STARTED. MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES. I SAW THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION REPORT ON THE NEWS THIS MORNING AND WANTED TO ADD MY VEHICLE TO THE LIST OF COMPLAINTS.

HANKOOK TIRES SHOW PREMATURE WEAR ON ALL 4 TIRES. 255/50R20 105H ARE WORN 60-65% AT 17,600 MILES ON VEHICLE (15 MONTHS OLD). TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 5,500 MILES.
MY VEHICLE CONSISTENTLY HAS AN EXHAUST SMELL WHILE DRIVING AND REGISTERS CO LEVELS FROM 3-5 PPM IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. UNDER HARD ACCELERATION THE CO LEVELS HAVE REGISTER ABOVE 11 PPM. THE SMELL AND CO LEVELS ARE AT THEIR WORST WHEN THE ENGINE IS UNDER A LOT OF STRAIN. FOR INSTANCE, WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. I HAVE RECORDED CO LEVELS AS HIGH AS 38 PPM WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE ALREADY AND STILL DO NOT HAVE THE ISSUE RESOLVED. MY WIFE AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MONITOR THE CO LEVELS IN OUR CAR. WE ARE AFRAID WE COULD BE CAUSING HARM TO OUR YOUNG CHILDREN AS WE SPEND A LOT OF TIME IN OUR VEHICLE. IS THERE ANY GUIDANCE ON WHAT THE LEVELS OF CO IN A VEHICLE SHOULD BE? I CANNOT FIND ANY IN MY RESEARCH. I HAVE PICTURES OF MY METER READING HIGH AS WELL AS SERVICE RECEIPTS FROM THE ATTEMPTED REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE GOES BACK THE WEEK OF THE JUNE 18TH FOR THE 3RD ATTEMPT, BUT THE DEALER IS STARTING TO PUSH BACK AND SAYING THAT I AM EXPERIENCING IS NORMAL. THERE WAS A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE HEATER BOX WHICH CAUSE THE HEATER CORE TO FAIL AND THEN IT BEGAN FILLING THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CABIN WITH COOLANT FUMES FOR TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT COURTESY FORD HERE IN PORTLAND OR. IT WENT BACK THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. IF THEY WOULD HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTORS THEY COULD AND HAD THE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS MAJOR FAILURE HAPPENING. BREATHING IN COOLANT AND BEING TOLD IT'S OKAY. IT ISN'T IS IT? PLEASE HELP.

I HAVE A 2017 FORD EXPLORER PLATINUM WHICH I PURCHASED BRAND NEW ON NOVEMBER 25, 2016. IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO REALIZE BUT EVERY TIME I WOULD DRIVE THE EXPLORER, MY EYES WOULD GET VERY HEAVY AND I WOULD DEVELOP A HEADACHE. I COMMUTE 42 MILES EACH WAY FOR WORK AND I CANT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES I ALMOST FELL COMPLETELY ASLEEP. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM TO DUE TO POSSIBLE CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) LEAKS ENTERING THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD THIS LOOKED AT EARLY THIS YEAR. FORD REPLACED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND I NOTICED A MAJOR DIFFERENCE IN HOW I FELT WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. RECENTLY, IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN WITH HEADACHES AND FEELING SLEEPY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT FORD CORPORATE ABOUT THIS AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE. I WOULD LIKE FOR THEM TO EITHER COMPLETELY FIX THE ISSUE OR ALLOW ME TO TRADE IN MY VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER ONE. THIS IS TRULY A HAZARD NOT ONLY TO MYSELF BUT FOR MY PASSENGERS (WIFE AND KIDS) AND TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. PLEASE HELP TO GET THIS RESOLVED...
RECALL HAS ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED ON MY FORD AND NOW WHEN THE MAX AC IS ON AND YOUR GOING DOWN THE ROAD OR NEED TO ACCELERATE THE MAX AC TURNS OFF AND COMES OUT OF THE DEFROST VENTS AND BLOWS HOT AIR THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND IT DOES OCCUR IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE THAT I CURRENTLY OWN OR HAVE OWNED IN THE PAST

CARBON MONOXIDE / EXHAUST GASES ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN WHILE DRIVING MADE ALL PASSENGERS ILL, WITH EXTREME HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION THE CABIN FILLED WITH EXHAUST FUMES AND WAS A PROBLEM FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. IT STARTED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AFTER STARTING THE EXPLORER AND OPENING THE WINDOWS OR TURNING ON THE RECIRCULATING AIR IN THE VEHICLE ONLY MADE THE EXHAUST FUMES WORSE. THIS REQUIRED MANY STOPS AND AIRING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE EXPLORER HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR THE FIRST REPAIR OF INSPECTING THE REAR SEAL AND REPROGRAMMING OF THE HVAC SYSTEM. THIS HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. CONTINUE TO HAVE EXHAUST FUMES IN THE PASSENGER CABIN.

AT APPROXIMATELY 6:20AM EDT ON MONDAY, 3/12/18 A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR INSTALLED IN MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER PLATINUM INDICATED THE PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE PASSENGER CABIN EXCEEDING 100PPM. THIS ALARM WENT OFF WHEN I WAS 5 MINUTES IN TO MY COMMUTE TO WORK WHILE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT ON A CITY STREET. I ALSO BEGAN GETTING A SEVERE HEADACHE AT THIS TIME. I WENT TO MY DOCTOR ON 3/13/18, ABOUT 24 HOURS SINCE LAST BEING IN THE VEHICLE, AND HAD MY BLOOD TESTED FOR CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENCE. THE CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN TEST CAME BACK WITH ELEVATED LEVELS OF CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN (THE LEVEL WAS 1.7 WHICH IS ABOVE THE 1.5 MAX THRESHOLD FOR NON-SMOKERS) WHICH INDICATES HARMFUL EXPOSURE TO CARBON MONOXIDE. MY DOCTOR STATED THAT THIS LEVEL WOULD BE EXPECTED FROM SOMEONE INVOLVED IN A FIRE. ON 3/12/18 I ALSO DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR INVESTIGATION. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY HAD NOT INSPECTED ANY PASSENGER MODEL FORD EXPLORERS FOR THE CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE, ONLY POLICE INTERCEPT VEHICLES, OF WHICH THEY HAVE ONLY INVESTIGATED 2. THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY SERVICE BULLETINS SENT BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR THIS ISSUE.

I AM AN ATTORNEY FILING THIS REPORT ON BEHALF OF AND AT THE REQUEST OF MY CLIENT, THE VEHICLE'S OWNER. THE COMPLAINT IS A NOXIOUS ODOR WHICH FILLS THE VEHICLE DURING ITS OPERATION; AFTER NUMEROUS REPAIR ATTEMPTS BY FORD, THIS CONCERN HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER HAS OBSERVED THE INTERIOR HAS BECOME INUNDATED WITH A NOXIOUS, OVERWHELMING, AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ODOR OF GASOLINE, EXHAUST AND/OR FUMES. THE DRIVER HAS FELT ILL EFFECTS AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE AND IS CONCERNED ABOUT CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING OR OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS AS A RESULT. THIS ISSUE IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS AND BECAUSE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN FOR ANY SUBSTANTIAL PERIOD OF TIME WITHOUT FILLING WITH THIS ODOR. THE ISSUE HAS MOST OFTEN BEEN OBSERVED WITH HIGHWAY DRIVING WHEN THE ENGINE IS UNDER LOAD, I.E. ACCELERATING. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE TIME OF PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST REPAIR ATTEMPT BY THE DEALER FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE WAS MADE IN JULY OF 2017. AT LEAST 4 REPAIR ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE SUBSEQUENTLY. THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THIS LAW FIRM HAS REQUESTED THAT FORD TAKE BACK THE VEHICLE AND REFUND THE CLIENT'S PURCHASE PRICE UNDER ARIZONA'S MOTOR VEHICLE WARRANTIES STATUTE.
EXHAUST SMELL IN PASSENGER CABIN LIGHT HEADED, NAUSEA, FLARED UP MY MIGRAINES. COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE ON BEHALF OF DEALERSHIP TO SELL ME VEHICLE AND NOT SHARE INFORMATION REGARDING THIS HEALTH CONCERN. IN ADDITION, THEY MENTION THE 'RECALL' AND FAIL TO ADDRESS IT. I BRING IT BACK, THEY FAILED TO FIX AGAIN AND NEVER TOLD ME. IT WASN'T UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH LATER...GETTING HEADACHES AND NAUSEA I CALLED JUST TO CONFIRM THE RECALL WAS ADDRESSED, ONLY TO LEARN THEY NEVER FIXED IT BECAUSE THEY NEEDED A PART. AFTER FLIPPING OUT ON THE SERVICE MANAGER AND GENERAL MANAGER...THEY SAID IT'S A 'A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ACTION' ITEM...NOT A RECALL! BUT YET LICCARDI FORD INWATCHING NJ HORRIBLE!!! HOW COULD THEY BE SOOO NEGLIGENT! EVEN AS MUCH AS TO SAY IT'S BEEN NOTICED OR OBSERVED MORE IN POLICE EXPLORERS, BUT BE AWARE OF A PREEXISTING CONCERN! INSTEAD...NEGLIGENCE THAT LED TO ME GETTING NAUSEOUS AND SMELLING IT ON MY OWN TO CALL THEM AND FIND OUT THEY NEVER FIXED IT!!

THERE IS A SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CABIN AT TIMES DRIVING. WHEN THE SMELL IS PRESENT I GET A SEVERE HEADACHE AND FEEL SICK TO MY STOMACH. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I WENT TO THE DEALER TO REPORT THE EXHAUST SMELL AND THEY IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT IN LIKE THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING. THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I RECEIVED A RENTAL CAR AND HAD IT FOR 4 DAYS. RECEIVE CALL TO PICK UP MY SUV. THE REPAIR ORDER SAID THEY REPLACED THE LIFT GATE WEATHER STRIPPING AND A FEW OTHER THINGS. I DROVE IT HOME AND THE EXHAUST SMELL WAS STILL PRESENT. I CALLED AND MADE ANOTHER SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR TODAY, 1/29/18.

STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST INSIDE THE CABIN. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO FORD THREE TIMES AND HAS MODIFICATIONS COMPLETED BUT HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENS MORE AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH THE AIR ON RECIRCULATE. THE LAT TIME I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALER I WAS TOLD TO NOT PUT IT ON RECIRCULATE WHICH IS NOT UP TO MY STANDARD AS I PAID $30K FOR THE VEHICLE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE IT AS I WANT. I HAVE A THREE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND IT IS PRIMARILY DRIVEN BY MY WIFE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WOULD LIKE A NEW VEHICLE AT THIS POINT. THEY TOLD ME THEY CANNOT TEST THIS AS THEY DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THEIR PARKING LOT.

VEHICLE IS TWO MONTHS OLD. SINCE PICKUP VEHICLE HAS HAD A SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS. MORE RECENTLY, I'VE BEEN GETTING A REVERB SOUND (LIKE ONE WINDOW IS CRACKED) WHICH I CAN FEEL IS DUE TO A POOR SEAL ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. WHEN IT WAS VERY COLD HERE WITH 40MPH WINDS I ACTUALLY FELT WIND COME IN THE DOOR-SEAL. WHILE THE ROTTEN EGG SMELL SUBSIDED, I GET AN EXHAUST FUME SMELL WHEN PARKED NEAR BUILDING REAR-WAYS IN, SUCH AS WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND IT WAS REVERSED AGAINST STEPS. THE SMELL OF THE EXHAUST FUMES FILLS THE CABIN CAUSING A HEADACHE AND HAVING TO CRACK THE WINDOWS TO AVOID THE SMELL. I'VE BEEN AVOIDING DRIVING THE CAR, WILL BE CALLING FORD SOON TO CHECK FOR A FIX FOR THIS. BRAND NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT AND EXHAUST FUMES FILLING THE CABIN, EVEN WITH CIRCULATION SELECTED, SO IT SHOULDN'T BE BRINGING OUTSIDE AIR IN. FURTHER A POOR SEAL / FITMENT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, POSSIBLY ADDING TO THIS ISSUE?

NOXIOUS EXHAUST FUMES ARE POURING INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WHENEVER THE HEAT OR A/C IS RUNNING AND ARE PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. NOXIOUS FUMES ARE DETECTABLE BY HUMAN SENSE OF SMELL, AND THE NOXIOUS FUMES INCREASE IN VOLUME AS THE VEHICLE INCREASES IN SPEED.

SCOTT PETERSON MOTORS OF STURGIS COMPLETED THE 17N03 SERVICE ON THIS VEHICLE IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM OF EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN. HOWEVER THE INTERMITTENT EXHAUST ODOR IS STILL PRESENT. ALSO TURNED ON A CO METER AND GOT A READING OF 114 PPM OF CO WHILE DRIVING. SURPRISING THAT WE GOT SUCH A HIGH READING AT A TIME WHEN WE DID NOT SMELL THE EXHAUST ODOR AT THAT TIME. WIFE STILL HAS A HEADACHE ALL DAY LONG AFTER GETTING THE INTERMITTENT EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN DURING DRIVING IN TOWN.

SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR I NOTICED A FOUL SMELL ON THE INTERIOR. IT SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. NOW THAT IT IS WINTER AND I AM WARMING UP MY CAR PRIOR TO GETTING AN IT I NOTICED THAT THAT SAME SMELL PERMEATES THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR AS WELL. MY ONLY ASSUMPTION COULD BE THAT WHATEVER IS COMING OUT OF THE CAR IS SOMEHOW LEAKING INSIDE THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. IT IS A SMELL THAT MAKES YOU VERY VERY SICK TO YOUR STOMACH. CALLING MY FORD DEALERSHIP DID NO GOOD AS THEY ACTED LIKE THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THIS PROBLEM COULD BE.
THERE'S EXHAUST FUME IN THE CABIN MY WIFE HAS SUFFERED SEVERE HEADACHE AFTER 60 MINS OF DRIVING INCLUDED MY 20MONTHS OLD BABY. MY CAR HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED ONCE AND IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN BECAUSE I LEFT A CO2 SENORS IN BACK SEAT AND HAS GONE OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. ORIGINALLY FILED COMPLAINT 10883479 AND 10954630 ON A 2015 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED FOR EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN. AFTER SEVERAL TSB REPAIRS THE EXHAUST ODOR WAS STILL IN THE CABIN. ON JUNE 20, 2017, I PAID $4670.29 AND FORD REPLACED MY 2015 WITH A SIMILAR 2017 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED. ABOUT 12 MILES AFTER DRIVING MY NEW 2017 DOWN THE FREEWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN ON MY NEW EXPLORER. SO I FILED ANOTHER COMPLAINT 11010052, SEE DETAILS OF FAILURE MODE. THEREAFTER FORD DID PHASE 1 OF TSB 17-0044 ON ORDER 57558, AND AFTER FURTHER EXHAUST ODORS IN THE CABIN, FORD DID THE SECOND PHASE OF THE TSB ON ORDER 57730. I STILL HAVE EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN, THE ODOR IS NOT AS STRONG AND DOES NOT LAST AS LONG, BUT IT IS STILL THERE. FORD ADVISED THAT THERE IS ANOTHER REPAIR 17N03, BUT THIS APPEARS TO ALREADY TO HAVE BEEN DONE ON THE TSB 17-0044. THE DEALER, SCOTT PETERSON MOTORS OF STURGIS IN SD, HAS DONE ALL THAT THEY CAN DO SO FAR I APPRECIATE THEIR EFFORTS IN GOING THE EXTRA MILE. CONSEQUENTLY, I AM FILING ANOTHER COMPLAINT IN AN EFFORT TO ASSIST FORD IN RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM.

I IMMEDIATELY GET A HEADACHE WHEN DRIVING AND FEEL NAUSEOUS, EXTREME FATIGUE, BODY AND MUSCLE ACHES, MEMORY ISSUES, CONFUSION, AND I'VE BEEN COUGHING UP BROWN MUCOUS WHICH IS LINKED TO THE INHALATION OF HAZARDOUS POLLUTION AND GASES. THESE SYMPTOMS LAST LONG AFTER I AM FINISHED DRIVING MY CAR AND HAVEN'T GONE AWAY FOR MORE THAN FOUR DAYS. MY SON IS HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND IT MAKES ME NERVOUS BECAUSE EXPOSURE TO THESE GASES WILL HINDER HIS NEURODEVELOPMENT. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SAY WHEN THE GAS IS ENTERING THE CAR, BUT I OPENED MY SUNROOF WHILE DRIVING THIS MORNING WITH THE WINDOWS UP AND THE A/C ON AND I COULD SMELL A NATURAL GAS SMELL AND I FELT THE EFFECTS OF INHALING THE GAS IMMEDIATELY. THE GAS WAS ESCAPING THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND RIGHT BY MY HEAD.

OUR 2017 FORD EXPLORER SPORT HAS A CONSTANT FOUL SMELL AFTER ACCELERATION. THE SMELL OVERWHELMS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND IS SIMILAR TO A SULFUR OR BURNING HAIR SMELL. EXHAUST FUME LEAKS INTO PASSENGER CABIN - PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE NEW THIS SPRING; ANYTIME WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC WITH RECIRCULATING AC ON A BURNING OIL OR ACRID ODOR LEAKS INTO THE CABIN. IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE LOCAL FORD DEALER 'RESEALED" THE UNDERCARRIAGE, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM PERSIST. ON A RECENT 400 MILE ROAD TRIP WITH RECIRCULATING AC ON PASSENGER AND DRIVER GOT VERY DROWSY, WINDOWS HAD TO BE OPENED, RECIRCULATING AC TURNED OFF AND STOPS MADE TO SHAKE OFF THE EFFECTS. MY PREVIOUS 2013 FORD EXPLORER HAD THE SAME EXHAUST PROBLEM BUT NEVER LIKE THIS. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS NEW MODEL I TOOK IT ON FAITH THE "PROBLEM" WOULDN'T AFFECT THE 2017S. FORD HAS HAD A LONG TIME TO FIGURE THIS OUT AND CORRECT WHATEVER MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT IS CAUSING THIS. I WILL CONTACT THE LOCAL DEALER WHO HAS BEEN VERY ACCOMMODATING TO ADVISE I HAVE FILED THIS COMPLAINT. I JUST WANT A SUV THAT DOESN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE SINCE 80% OF MY TRIPS ARE 40+ MILES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. ALL I WANT IS A FORD EXPLORER THAT DOESN'T PUT MY HEALTH AT RISK.

SINCE BUYING MY EXPLORER I HAVE NOTICED ANY TIME I ACCELERATE I BEGIN TO NOTICE AN AWFUL SMELL. IF WE DO NOT ROLL WINDOWS DOWN, EVERYONE IN THE VEHICLE GETS NAUSEOUS OR DIZZY. TODAY WHILE ACCELERATING ON THE INTERSTATE I HAD TO QUICKLY STOP TO THROW UP. IT HAS NEVER GOTTEN TO THAT POINT UNTIL TODAY. AFTER BRINGING IT TO NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT IT IS A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK AND I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED IT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED.

I RETURNED IT TO DEALER THE SAME DAY SO THEY CAN TRY TO FIGURE WHY REPAIR DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD A DISTRICT TECHNICIAN WOULD NEED TO COME INSPECT THE VEHICLE, THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE FIRST DAY WE DROVE IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT. THIS REPAIR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE "RECALL REPAIR" FOR CO2 LEAKING INTO VEHICLE, THIS REPAIR DID NOT RESOLVE MY ISSUE, SO NOT SURE IF FORD REALLY HAS THIS FIGURED OUT YET.

WHEN ACCELERATING PAST 2,500 RPMS, EXHAUST COMES INTO THE CAR. IT SMELLS AND HAS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD BURN OFF, I'M NOW AT OVER 5,000 MILES AND IT STILL DOES IT. I KEEP TELLING THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER. MAKES ME LIGHT HEADED.
EXHAUST LEAK INTO CABIN OF VEHICLE, NOTICED ESPECIALLY ON ACCELERATION ON HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 55MPH AND WHEN DRIVING UP AND DOWN HILLS. HAD TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW TO GET SMELL OUT OF VEHICLE. CAUSING DRIVER TO GET HEADACHES, NAUSEA AND GET VERY DROWSY. TOOK VACATION FOR 1300 MILES TO VIRGINIA BEACH FROM ILLINOIS AND TRAVELLED THROUGH MOUNTAINS AND THIS DRIVER COULD ONLY DRIVE 2 HOURS BEFORE BECOMING VERY DROWSY. THIS DRIVER HAS BEEN DRIVING FOR 28 YEARS AND HAS NEVER EVER HAD THESE SYMPTOMS BEFORE WHILE DRIVING. THIS DRIVER IS NOT ON ANY MEDICATIONS THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO BEING DROWSY, NOR DOES NOT HAVE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS DRIVER TO BECOME DROWSY BEHIND THE WHEEL. THIS DRIVER BELIEVES THIS CAR 2017 FORD EXPLORER IS LEAKING EXHAUST INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE AIR VENTS EVEN THOUGH THIS DRIVER DOES NOT CIRCULATE THE INSIDE AIR ON THE A/C SYSTEM. THIS DRIVER ALWAYS HAS THE A/C SYSTEM ON BRINGING IN OUTSIDE AIR INTO THE CAR AND DOES NOT CLICK ON THE BUTTON THAT CIRCULATES THE AIR INSIDE THE CAR. THIS DRIVER NOW HAS TO HAVE THE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN IN THIS VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ANYTIME THIS DRIVER GETS INTO THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. THIS VEHICLE WAS FIRST NOTICED TO BE CAUSING DRIVER TO BECOME DROWSY ON 7/29/17 & 7/30/17 WHILE ON VACATION DRIVING TO VIRGINIA BEACH WITH DAUGHTER, FRIEND OF FAMILY AND HER SON. 8/2/17 & 8/3/17 DROVE BACK TO ILLINOIS AND DROWSY AGAIN AND HAD TO ROLL WINDOW DOWN. 8/30/17 TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY TESTED VEHICLE AND NOTICED AN EXHAUST LEAK. HAD TO ORDER PART FOR VEHICLE, APPT. MADE FOR 9/6/17 FOR VEHICLE TO GET REAR BUMPER REMOVED AND EXHAUST SYSTEM LOOKED AT. 9/13/17 RECEIVED THIS VEHICLE BACK FROM DEALER IN EVENING. NEXT DAY DROVE VEHICLE IN MORNING AND EXHAUST SMELL IN VEHICLE. CAR RETURNED TO DEALER 9/15/17 FOR DEALER TO FIX SAME PROBLEM FOR #2 DOCUMENTED VISIT TO DEALER.

THERE IS A BURNING SMELL/ STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING . IT SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE OFTEN OR BECOME STRONGER WHEN ACCELERATING UP HILLS OR WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, BUT CAN OCCUR WHEN DRIVING AT ANY TIME. MY WIFE, MYSELF, FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS WHO HAVE RIDDEN IN OR DRIVEN THE VEHICLE HAVE SMELLED IT. THE SMELL CAN BE STRONGER TO PASSENGERS IN THE REAR SEATING AREAS. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE MY WIFE HAS LEASED THE VEHICLE ON 01/20/17 AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE TO BE CHECKED ,BUT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE VEHICLE WILL BE RETURNING TO THE DEALER THIS WEEK (09/06/17) AGAIN TO BE CHECKED .

WE HAVE TAKEN OUR EXPLORER INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE NOW. WHEN YOU ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY THERE IS A REALLY BAD EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN FROM TIME TO TIME. THEY CLAIM TO FIX IT EVERY TIME AND THEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. I AM VERY WORRIED BECAUSE I AM 22 WEEKS PREGNANT NOW AND I HAD BEEN PLACED ON BED REST DUE TO SPOTTING I WAS HAVING. I AM NOT SURE IF THE TWO ARE LINKED. I AM NOT ON BED REST ANYMORE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. I WILL CHOOSE A DATE BELOW, BUT IT IS ONGOING.

C0 DETECTOR WENT OFF ON A 3HR DRIVE ON 08-18-17 WITH AC AND AIR RECIRCULATION ON. AFTER OPENING THE WINDOWS THE DETECTOR STOPPED BEEPING. THE DETECTOR IS A GLUI CIGARETTE-LIGHTER POWERED DEVICE W/ TWO USB PORTS (HTTPS://WWW.AMAZON.COM/GP/PRODUCT/B01G2YJ3ZU) AND HAS BEEN INSTALLED IN THE CENTER CONSOLE CIGARETTE LIGHTER (FACING THE SECOND ROW SEATS) SINCE MID MAY. NO OTHER TIME HAS THIS ALARM WENT OFF. AT THE TIME OF THE ALARM THE DETECTOR WAS PARTIALLY COVERED WITH SOME FABRIC FROM A BAG AND THE DETECTOR WAS WARM TO THE TOUCH. WE WERE CAMPING IN A PLACE WITH NO CELL SERVICE SO WE DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO CONTACT FORD/NHTSA. WE DROVE HOME W/ THE WINDOWS OPEN. AFTER COMING BACK HOME I TRIED INTENTIONALLY SETTING OFF THE CO ALARM WITH A CAN OF CO. AFTER WARMING UP THE DETECTOR BY LETTING THE CAR RUN I SPRAYED CO INTO THE DETECTOR BUT I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE ALARM TO GO OFF AGAIN. IT IS UNCLEAR TO ME WHETHER THIS WAS A FALSE ALARM FROM THE DETECTOR OR A LEGITIMATE ISSUE WITH C0 EMISSIONS IN THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE NOT MANY ACTIVE CO ALARMS ON AMAZON FOR CARS, THE GLUI ONE IS THE MOST REASONABLE ONE I'VE FOUND. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED; I'LL BE CONTACTING FORD TODAY AS WELL.

HEAVY SMELL IN CABIN WHEN THE AC IS TURNED ON. THE SMELL IS FOUL AND WORSE WHEN AC IS TURNED ON. DRIVER HAS HAD SEVERAL EPISODES OF NAUSEA, DIZZINESS AND OVERALL UNWELL FEELING SINCE PURCHASING IN NOVEMBER 2016. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AS OF YET, BUT THERE IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND AM CONCERNED FOR MY THREE CHILDREN UNDER 6.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 EXPLORER I GET SICK WHILE DRIVING. I GET A HEADACHE AND VERY NAUSEOUS AND SOMETIMES I GET DIZZY. I WILL DRIVE OTHER VEHICLES AND I DON'T GET SICK WITH THEM. I HAVE HAD MY EXPLORER FOR A YEAR AND I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 7 OR 8 MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING I GET SICK AND I FEEL LIKE IM GOING TO PASS OUT . I DON'T THINK IT'S VERY SAFE TO DRIVE LIKE THIS. ITS A DANGER TO MYSELF AND ALSO OTHER PEOPLE ON THE HIGHWAY.

MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER XLT HAS EXHAUST SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT A NEW CAR SMELL BUT RATHER EXHAUST ODOR AND ONLY IS APPARENT WHEN THE AC SYSTEM OR FAN SYSTEM IS IN THE ON POSITION. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON JUNE 13, 2017 AND WAS HOSPITALIZED ON JULY 1, 2017 FOR THREE DAYS. THE DOCTORS WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS ALTHOUGH I WAS EXPERIENCING HEADACHES, DIZZINESS AND TROUBLE WITH MY VISION. EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY EXPLORER AND TURN THE AC OR FANS ON I NOTICE A EXHAUST ODOR. I DEVELOP A HEADACHE, DIZZINESS FEEL SICK. I CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER FOR A POSSIBLE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK OR OTHER ISSUE THAT MAYBE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. FORD ALSO STATED THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE ONLY ON THE POLICE INTERCEPTOR VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH ALL EXPLORERES COME OFF SAME PRODUCTION LINE. NOTE: I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS. THE NEW CAR SMELL IS GONE AND THERE IS NO ODOR WITH THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS NOT IN THE ON POSITION. THE TOXIC ODOR IS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE VENTS/AC/FANS ARE RUNNING.

I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER AND A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK. I HAVE OVERALL FEELING BAD SINCE WE GOT OUR NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER, WHICH IS VERY OUT OF CHARACTER FOR ME. I AM A PRIOR SPECIAL OPERATION VETERAN, OVERALL IN GOOD HEALTH, AND ONLY 30Y/O. LIKE MANY, WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS VEHICLE I AM GETTING NAUSEA, WEAKNESS, AND TENSION HEADACHES FROM DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN VERY WEAK AND HAVING HEADACHES, AS OF LATE. THIS HAS HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON MY DAY-TO-DAY LIFE. I COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY OR WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH ME IT SEEMED AS IF IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. I AM STARTING TO THINK MAYBE I HAVE LONG TERM EXPOSURE TO CARBON MONOXIDE OVER THE LAST 3 WEEKS. I GOT THE FORD EXPLORE 3 WEEKS AGO AND THIS SUDDEN SICKNESS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THEN. I GOT SO WORRIED WITH MY HEALTH"I WENT TO THE DOCTOR. I EXPLAINED TO THE DOCTOR "I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S GOING ON WITH ME BUT I FEEL ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE HAD A FLU FOR ALMOST A MONTH". I WAS DESPERATE AND I KNOW I SOUNDED CRAZY BUT I HAVE BEEN HAVING SOME SERIOUS BOUTS WITH WEAKNESS, FATIGUE, AND HEADACHES. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR ON JULY 31ST 2017 AND I REALLY HAVE BEEN BAFFLED BY THE SUDDEN ONSET OF SYMPTOMS. THIS WAS BEFORE I KNEW ABOUT THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER. I SAW THE STORY RUN TODAY (8-3-17) ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA AND I STARTED TO PUT TWO AND TWO TOGETHER. AT THE DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT ON (7-31-17) THEY PULLED BLOOD, AND ARE CONDUCTING A BUNCH OF TEST BUT NOTHING HAS COME BACK. I AM CONCERNED, I AM HOPING IT'S NOT RELATED TO THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK THAT OTHERS ARE REPORTING. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS FOR MY PREGNANT WIFE AND UNBORN CHILD. AS A PURPLE HEART VET I HAVE PUT MY HEART AND SOUL INTO OUR GREAT COUNTRY AND I NEED THIS AGENCY TO PLEASE FIND ANSWERS TO IF THESE SUVS ARE SAFE. MY FAMILIES COULD DEPEND ON IT THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.

BOUGHT THIS FORD EXPLORER APRIL 2017 , IT WAS A PROGRAM CAR WITH 12,000 MILES . I NOTICED A SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON . DEALING WITH HEADACHES FOR THREE MONTHS , TOOK AT TRIP OUT OF STATE AND MY WHOLE FAMILY COMPLAINED WITH HEADACHES THE ENTIRE TRIP . FINALLY REALIZED IT WAS MY CAR. NEEDLESS TO SAY IM NOT VERY HAPPY WITH FORD . IT IS CURRENTLY AT FORD , WAITING FOR PARTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE . BEEN THERE FOR TWO WEEKS :(

SMELLED GASOLINE IN CABIN AFTER DRIVING CAR FOR 2 MILES IN MORNING. AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, TEMP WAS APPROX 75 DEGREES. CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT SOMETIMES WITH NEW CARS IT IS THE RESULT OF THE COATING ON THE NEW PARTS. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW YESTERDAY, BUT HAD 187 MIES ON IT. (PER DEALER, IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SWAP FROM ANOTHER DEALER AND THE MILES CAME FROM TRANSPORT). MADE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR 8/16 (NEXT AVAILABLE), BUT SERVICE REP HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ISSUES OF THIS SORT.

I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST SMELL IN THE VEHICLE FROM THE INITIAL TRIP I TOOK WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DISCUSSED WITH THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS BUT FORD HAS NOT RECALLED OR COME UP WITH A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. I AM AWARE OF OTHER CUSTOMERS USING THE LEMON LAW IN FLORIDA TO REPLACE THEIR VEHICLE. NOW THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN EXPOSED BY THE MEDIA I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I CAN ALWAYS TAKE THE FLORIDA LEMON LAW APPROACH IF THERE IS NO SOLUTION. THE PROBLEM IS NOT JUST WITH INTERCEPTOR VEHICLES THAT FORD IS NOW ADDRESSING?? MOST IF NOT ALL EXPLORERS FROM 2011 HAVE THE ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS VERY PREVALENT WHEN THE CAR IS ACCELERATED QUICKLY. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO DISCUSS WITH SOMEONE AND ACTUALLY SHOW THEM THE EFFECT BY ACCELERATION.

FORD EXPLORER SPORT 2017 SMELLS OF EXHAUST GAS IN THE DRIVER CABIN. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH 5, 2017 AND TOOK IT TO DEALER 3/9/17 TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EXHAUST FUMES SMELL WHEN I DROVE ON THE FREEWAY. THEY TOLD ME THEY TESTED IT AND COULD NOT SMELL ANYTHING. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED AND IT HAPPENS ESPECIALLY WHEN I DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY. IN JUNE A WAS GOING TO DRIVE MY CAR FROM LA TO NEW JERSEY. AFTER THREE DAYS OF DRIVING I HAD TO TURN BACK TO LA BECAUSE I GOT DIZZY AND FELT NAUSEOUS EVERY DAY AFTER DRIVING 6 TO 8 HOURS. I SAW LAST NIGHT ON THE NEWS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH EXHAUST FUMES AND CARBON MONOXIDE AND THAT MADE ME REALIZE THAT I AM AFFECTED BY THAT. I CALLED FORDS HOTLINE EARLIER TODAY. THEY SAID THAT THERE IS A FIX BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME THAT APPARENTLY THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE 2017 YET AND I GOT THE ADVISE TO BE CAREFULL AND DRIVE WITH MY WINDOW DOWN. POSSIBLE CARBON DIOXIDE LEAK. ON A RECENT LONG TRIP I HAD TROUBLE WITH HEADACHES AND LIGHTHEADED. IT BECAME WORSE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON. I GOT HOME AND WAS VERY SICK, I HAD MY NEIGHBOR DRIVE ME TO THE HOSPITAL. MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS LOW, RED BLOOD CELLS LOW AND WAS SEVERELY LIGHTHEADED. THAT WAS JULY 19, BUT I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE EXHAUST FUME PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEWS REPORTED IT ON JULY 28; SO A BLOOD TEST FOR CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING WAS NOT PERFORMED. I THINK THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON WITH ME DRIVING THIS CAR, BUT IN A MUCH MILDER FORM OF SYMPTOMS. I LOOKED UP THE SYMPTOMS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING AND I HAD MOST OF THEM. I DO SOMETIMES SMELL ODORS WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR OR VENT. PLEASE CHECK INTO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE EXPLORERS I NEED THIS REPAIRED.

TWICE SINCE PURCHASING MY NEW EXPLORER I HAVE GOTTEN DEATHLY ILL WHILE DRIVING, HAD TO PULL OVER AND BE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I'M 70 YEARS OLD AND HAD THOUGHT IT WAS A MEDICAL ISSUE. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN POKED AND PROBED FOR EVERY POSSIBLE ALIMENT AND ALL HAVE COME BACK NEGATIVE AND AM IN GREAT HEALTH. EVEN MY HEART TESTS WERE OUTSTANDING. I SAW THE EXPLORER STORIES ON THE NEWS, LOOKED UP CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND NOTE THOSE WERE THE SYMPTOMS I HAD. IN THE INCIDENT LAST WEEK I WAS FEELING WORSE AND WORSE AS I DROVE AND WAS JUST ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD BEFORE I PASSED OUT, MY VISION HAD GONE BLANK, I STARTING SWEATING WITH THE AIR ON, AND I BECAME EXTREMELY DIZZY AND DISORIENTATED. I SPENT TWO DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL THINKING I WAS DYING BECAUSE THAT'S HOW I FELT. I'M IN EXCELLENT HEALTH, BIKE 20 MILES DAY 2-4 DAYS WEEK, PLAY LEAGUE HOCKEY, AVID GOLFER THAT HAS COMPETED AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL, ETC. EXHAUST IN CABIN WHEN INSIDE AIR IS ENGAGED, YOUR OWN EXHAUST! HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS ACCELERATED AND THEN AS YOU LEVEL THE SPEED OUT, THE EXHAUST FILLS THE VEHICLE. THIS CONSISTENTLY HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAY, TURNING CORNERS, ETC. WE HAVE MONITORED THE CARBON MONOXIDE AND IT REGISTERS ON DETECTOR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH SHOULD BE A CLOSED SYSTEM SO THAT THERE IS NO WAY THE TOXIC SMELL SHOULD COME INSIDE YOUR CAR. OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROBLEM WAS WHEN WE INITIALLY BOUGHT A 2015 FORD EXPLORER, SAME PROBLEM. FORD WORKED ON THE 2015 MANY MANY TIMES AND FINALLY SAID THEY WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE ANYMORE WORK ON THE VEHICLE. AT WHICH TIME FORD BOUGHT THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER BACK. AND SOLD US THE 2017 TO TAKE ITS PLACE. WE BEGAN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2017 FORD EXPLORER AND IT HAS ALSO BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 3 TIMES, NOW FORD HAS GIVEN IT BACK TO US AND TOLD US THEY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE ANY WORK ON IT. PROBLEM NOT SOLVED BUT IT IS A REALITY FOR US WE ARE STILL PAYING NOTES ON A VEHICLE THAT IS TOTALLY UNSAFE FOR US AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM ON THE NATIONAL NEWS, FOUND IT ON THE INTERNET ( PROBLEM SINCE 2011) NONE OF THIS WAS DISCLOSED TO US WITH THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE OF THE 2015! FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET JUST WALKS AWAY WITH NO INTENTION OF FIXING IT OR OWNING THE PROBLEM.

6/29/2017 THIS HAPPENED TO MY 2017 FORD EXPLORER BACK WINDOW YESTERDAY. NOTHING HIT IT WE WEREN'T ON THE FREEWAY. WE WERE AT A LIGHT AT A COMPLETE STAND STILL. THERE'S NO POINT OF IMPACT AND THE GLASS AND IT IS POPPED OUT NOT IN. THE GLASS COMPANY TOLD ME IT WAS CAUSED FROM THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. DEALERSHIP TOLD US THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT AND CLAIMED THAT IT COULD'VE BEEN A PEBBLE THAT HIT IT.
WHEN I ACELLERATE FAST LIKE GETTING ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY, A BURNT OR COTTON SMELL ENTERS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DESPITE THE A/C RECIRCULATION BEING ENGAGED. SMELL DISSAPATES AFTER A WHILE BUT ALWAYS HAPPENS UNDER THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED CONDITIONS. FORD DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN THE VEHICLE TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND IS SEEING IT AGAIN TOMORROW FOR THE SAME THING. FIRST VISIT THEY REPLACED SOME MOULDING AND RESEALED STUFF IN THE REAR END. SECOND VISIT THEY REPLACED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. NEITHER OF THESE ACTIONS RESOLVED THE ISSUE, I HAVE JUST LEARNED THAT A POLICE OFFICER IN THE US PASSED OUT DRIVING A FORD EXPLORER HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE A WIFE AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND I FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY GIVEN THE TOXIC FUMES CONTAINED IN AUTOMOTIVE EXHAUST.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE 4-2017 EXPLORERS THAT WERE PLACED IN SERVICE BETWEEN JANUARY 11 AND JANUARY 19, 2017. MILEAGES RANGE FROM 700 TO 3000 ON THE 4. AFTER OUR DRIVER REPORTING DIZZINESS, HEADACHES AND NAUSEA, THE FIRST VEHICLE WAS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE ON FEBRUARY 20, 2017. THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD FOR DIAGNOSIS ON MARCH 6, 2017 WHERE IT SAT UNTIL MAY 17, 2017 AFTER WE CONDUCTED PRELIMINARY AIR QUALITY TEST SHOWING TVOC'S COMING OUT OF THE VENTS WHEN THE AIR WAS IN RECIRCULATION MODE. THIS HAPPENED WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, IN CITY DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE FORD DEALER COMPLETED ALL OF THEIR DIAGNOSTICS, UPDATED THE HVAC SYSTEM TO THE MOST CURRENT AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT TO DO. ON MAY 17TH WE COMPLETED A MORE EXTENSIVE TEST AND SENT THAT TO AN INDEPENDENT LAB. AT THAT TIME ALL FOUR VEHICLES WERE MOVED TO A GARAGE FOR PASSIVE AIRING OUT AT FORDS DIRECTION. WE WERE TO LEAVE THEM A MINIMUM OF 10 DAYS AND THEN PLACE CHARCOAL FILTERS AND SILICA PACKS IN THE VEHICLES TO HELP ABSORB FUMES IF ANY WERE LEFT. WE COMPLETED A NEW AIR QUALITY TEST AND FOUND THAT IT WAS STILL SHOWING TVOC'S BEING PUT OUT OF THE VENTS AND WAS NOW SHOWING CARBON MONOXIDE. AFTER THESE RESULTS WERE PASSED ON WE WERE NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT THIS WAS NOT A NEW CAR ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM. WE WERE INSTRUCTED NOT TO DRIVE THE CARS IN RECIRCULATION MODE. I EXPLAINED THAT UNLESS YOU REMEMBER TO TURN THIS OFF IT IS AUTOMATICALLY ON AND I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE TO DRIVE THEM. TODAY I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THEY HAVE A "SOLUTION". THE ARE USING TSB 17-0044 WHICH I WILL ATTACH. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE AS MOST OF THE STEPS WERE COMPLETED WHEN IT WAS AT FORD THE FIRST TIME.

ON JANUARY 27TH, 2017, MY WIFE AND I LEASED A NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER. EVERY TIME WE OPERATE THE VEHICLE, WE GET EXTREMELY SICK (SOME SYMPTOMS WE EXPERIENCE ARE SORE THROAT, RUNNING NOSE, HEADACHES, AND NAUSEA THAT LAST HOURS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE). THIS OCCURS ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES WHILE DRIVING/OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE HEATING SYSTEM WAS SET TO 75 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND THE WINDOWS WERE CLOSED. AFTER WE FELT SICK WE DID SHUT OFF THE HEATING SYSTEM AND OPEN THE WINDOWS BUT THERE WAS A SLIGHT ODOR IN THE CABIN AND WE STILL FEEL SEVERAL ALIMENTS. DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR MYSELF AND MY 6-MONTH-OLD DAUGHTER THAT WAS IN THE VEHICLE (THIS BEING MY MOST SIGNIFICANT CONCERN). FORD MOTOR CORP INSTALLED A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM, REMOVED THE REAR BUMPER AND RESEALED ANY LEAKS, CHECKED CABIN PRESSURE AND TRIED TO RESEAL ANY CRACKS THAT MAY ALLOW EXHAUST TO RENTER THE CABIN. FORD STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FIXED, AFTER BEING BROUGHT TO THEM FOR THE THIRD TIME (THEY SAID THEY FOUND MORE LEAKS AND RESEALED THEM), BUT REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY DOCUMENTATION STATING THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF TO BE IN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES, A FORD SERVICE TECHNICIAN LOCATED AT SAYVILLE FORD TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND CONFIRMED THE SAME AILMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM SERVICE AFTER FORD STATED IT WAS FIXED FOR A 3RD TIME AND WE WERE STILL GETTING SICK WHEN WE DROVE THE VEHICLE. WE CONTACTED FORD AGAIN AND WE ADVISED THEM OF THE SITUATION FOR A 4TH TIME AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS 'BY ITS VERY NATURE, NEW CAR SMELL IS DUE TO PLASTICS AND ADHESIVES IN THE VEHICLE. IT COULD BE AN IRRITANT TO SOME. UNFORTUNATELY, YOU MAY HAVE TO CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS THAT MAY BE AVAILABLE TO YOU.'

DRIVING HOME AFTER BUYING MY BRAND NEW 2017 FORD EXPLORER I STARTED SMELLING CAR EXHAUST. I THOUGHT IT WAS AS COMING FROM THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. IT WASN'T. IT WAS COMING OUT OF THE AIR VENTS IN FRONT OF MY FACE AND I HAD THE AIR ON RECIRCULATE. IT SEAMS TO COME OUT MORE WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING OR PASSING CARS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN OR I WOULD GET A HEADACHE. IT HAS LESS THAN A 1000 MILES ON IT AND ITS IN THE SHOP. THEY CALLED JUST BEFORE I FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND TO COME PICK IT UP. I TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT RETAKE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL I SPOKE WITH AN ATTORNEY. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THEY WILL TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT IT. JUST NOW WAITING FOR FORD TO CALL BACK. I DRIVE MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR. DO D SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEM SELFS. TRADING THE HEALTH OF HUMANS OVER MONEY. THIS CAR IS SO NEW I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE A CAR PAYMENT YET.

WHILE THE ENGINE IS STARTED THE ODOR AND AILMENTS ARE MUCH MORE PRESENT BUT THERE IS STILL A PRESENCE OF AN ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN AND AILMENTS STILL IMPACT DRIVER WHEN VEHICLE IS IN THE OFF POSITION. MULTIPLE DRIVERS PRESENTED SIMILAR ALIMENTS SUCH AS SEVERE HEADACHES THAT LASTED SEVERAL HOURS AFTER THE EXPOSURE, RUNNY NOSE, BLOODY NOSE AND LIGHT HEADED/DIZZINESS.VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK AND FORTH TO FORD AND THEY REPLACED/REPROGRAMMED HVAC SYSTEM, REMOVED REAR BUMPER, REPLACED REAR BODY VENT, AND REAR TRIM. FORD ALSO REPLACED EXHAUST SYSTEM. FORD SERVICE CENTER HAS BEEN WAITING FOR FORD CORPORATE (HOTLINE) TO GET BACK TO THEM WITH OUR NEXT STEPS BECAUSE THE ODOR AND AILMENTS ARE STILL OCCURRING. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATION, FORD SERVICE CENTER AND FORD CREDIT AND NO ONE IS ABLE TO HELP ME OR RECTIFY THIS SITUATION. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR MY HEALTH AS WELL AS MY WIFE AND OUR 6 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER DUE TO THIS ISSUE.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH "ROTTEN EGGS" SMELL / EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN AS FOUND IN THE FORD CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT CONCERNING 2011-2015 FORD EXPLORER MODELS. THE SMELL / EXHAUST FUMES COME THROUGH THE A/C VENTS IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS UNDER ANY MODERATE TO HEAVY ACCELERATION. THIS PROBLEM CAN BE DUPLICATED EVERY SINGLE TIME. THE SMELL / EXHAUST FUMES ARE NAUSEATING AND POTENTIALLY TOXIC EXHAUST FUMES. THIS PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD WILL BE REPORTED TO THE APPROPRIATE AGENCIES INCLUDING BBB, AND ALL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND CORRECTED BY FORD MOTOR CO. IT LOOKS LIKE FORD HAS NEVER CORRECTED PROBLEM BECAUSE IT STILL EXISTS IN THE 2017 MODELS.

VISITED MY FAMILY DOCTOR IN NOVEMBER 2017 AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MIGRAINE HEADACHES AND PRESCRIBED MEDICATION. WENT BACK TO DOCTOR DECEMBER 2016 BECAUSE MEDICINE WAS NOT HELPING. I WAS HAVING 2 HEADACHES A WEEK SO THEY TRIED A MORE AGGRESSIVE MEDICINE TO NO AVAIL. DOCTOR COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY! I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED HEADACHES UNTIL I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE.
