It has been a year and a half since Ford recalled a part and they have yet to replace that part. It’s a year overdue from the timeline they claimed to be ready by.
The bottom part that holds the windshield down is coming off. My windshield sounds like it is going to fly off when I drive. It makes a constant loud noise when driving. This has been an ongoing issue for almost 2 years. Ford told me they couldn’t do anything about it.
The A-PILLAR TRIM has flew off on the freeway on 4 separate occasions. 3 different times I paid out of pocket to have it repaired, not knowing this was a manufacture defect. Ford keeps saying that they do not have the parts to repair it.
In February I was driving to an appt. when the side panel on driver's door broke & started flying around & hitting car. (It has the numbers to enter the car without a key.) So I had to roll down window 1/2 way, grab the broken part & drive 18 miles to town, holding the part so it wouldn't fly off (in 30 degree weather!) So I drove by the Ford Dealership where I got my car. They thought there was a recall on that item so I've been waiting. I just saw on the NHTSA site there was a recall for that item on 2016-17? Explorers, but mine is 2019!!! Would you please add the 2019 model to that recall? Also, I'm STILL WAITING (1 1/2 years later) for the recalled trim pieces around the front windshield.
Difficulty getting the vehicle repaired in a reasonable time or without charge. Initial recall indicated parts would be available in the latter half of 2024. It is now mid 2025. Ford dealership indicates parts are not available for recall, BUT parts ARE available if I'd like to pay out of pocket for repairs. That seems fraudulent and the A-pillar trim on my vehicle is obviously defective and coming off the vehicle. This is hazardous and Ford should not be able to charge for repairs and not comply with the recall repairs.
The windshield lower molding is deteriorating. The molding has cracked and fallen off in several places. This has been happening over the last 6 months but has gotten much worse. It also makes a buzzing vibration over 50mph. I'm afraid that if it gets any worse the windshield may pop out in an accident. Unknown Unknown No warning
The A-pillar trim on the driver's side around windshield is coming off, and poses a risk to other drivers if it flys off while driving down the road. A recall on Ford Explorers of the same year is already issued, does not include the Police utility of same year.
Water is entering the rear liftgate which fills up during a rain event. This can potentially create problems with the electrical components mounted inside of the liftgate. i.e. Power door release, Rear defog, third bake light, window wiper, rear tail lights. These could short out or maybe cause a fire. It is already causing premature corrosion at the lowest end seam of the panel as the paint it now bubbling and beginning to seperate from the surface. This could also create a structural integrity issue with the liftgate. The rear glass is stationary. Not designed to open. Maybe this is a similar adhesion issue that the 2016 Transit connect had with the windshield which was recentlyn recalled for improper adhesion process/defect aloowing water to enter into the cabin.
It has been more than a year later, Ford has not resolved the issue with the exterior A-Pillar. The response at the dealership has been, A) we do not have the parts or B) If you pay for them out of pocket, we can fix the issue. Which tells me they can fix the issue but chose to not do so because they are banking on owners paying for this recall. What recourse do I have?
Code P0301 can’t pin point issue
I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my 2019 Ford Explorer, which is currently subject to the 2011–2019 Ford Explorer® — A-Pillar Trim Detachment Recall (Recall Reference Number: 24S02). The exterior A-pillar trim on my 2019 Ford Explorer, covered under the aforementioned recall, has caused severe issues including vibrations and a loud whistling noise around the windshield area, particularly at highway speeds. These problems are not only a nuisance but also pose a potential safety hazard, as the vibrations could lead to more severe structural damage or detachment of the trim while driving. I have contacted several Ford dealerships in my area, as well as Ford headquarters, seeking a resolution under recall 24S02. Unfortunately, I was consistently informed that the necessary parts to correct the issue are not available. I was told that Ford had provided the parts, but they were only available for a two-week period and are no longer in stock. The person I spoke with at the dealership advised me to call back at a later time to check if the parts are available. Additionally, when I reached out to Ford’s headquarters customer relations department for further assistance, I was simply transferred to my local dealership without any other form of help or guidance. This lack of support from the manufacturer is deeply frustrating and concerning. Furthermore, one of the dealerships informed me that another customer with similar issues under the same recall has been waiting for over a month and has yet to receive the necessary parts. This delay, coupled with the lack of clear communication and guidance, is highly concerning, especially given the potential safety risks associated with the defect. Given the severity of the issue and the inadequate response from Ford, I am requesting that the NHTSA intervene to ensure that Ford takes the necessary steps to resolve this safety concern promptly. I am concerned that a serious incident can occur if not resolved.
EXTERIOR A-PILLAR TRIM PART DETACHED, NOW CAUSED CRACKED WINDSHIELD WHERE TRIM WOULD HAVE BEEN. THE PART HAS BEEN DETACHED FOR MONTHS AND MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP HAS NO TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT SOLUTION. MY WINDSHIELD NOW HAS A SPIDERING CRACK WHERE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PROTECTED .
I took my vehicle last year to the dealership to report the safety concern I had with a loose piece under my hood causing a flapping sound while driving. They determined the exterior a pillar was warped, loose and missing pieces. I received the recall in the mail a few weeks later, although they will not set up an appointment for me to resolve this issue. Not only does it state this is a potential safety concern, it has already been established this piece is defective on my vehicle. I also drive fellow associates around to meetings in my vehicle and it is putting them in danger along with myself and is bringing concerns it has not yet been addressed. The recall was sent to me a few weeks later on 01/26/2024.
The B-pillar trim piece has become detached from the vehicle due to broken clips and when driving it appears as if it will fall off. Ford will not address the issue, other then using two sided adhesive tape which needs to be replaced continuously. The clips that hold the trim in place are broken and this is common on many explorers. There are other body trim pieces which have been recalled for and this needs to be added as well. The A-pillar trim was recently a recall item and this is just as much a hazard.
Drivers door will not lock. It will only lock if you push it down but doesn’t lock when taking off like it’s supposed to for safety.
Operator law enforcement was idling for an extended time in this vehicle. He was found unconscious in the vehicle and diagnosed with acute carbon monoxide poisoning. He was hospitalised for 4 days, and suffers continuing neurological deficits. Post-incident testing by engineer instructed by operator indicated two improper or incomplete welds on exhaust system, allowing exhaust to pool under vehicle and enter passenger compartment through HVAC fresh air intake. Post-incident testing recreated rising CO levels in passenger compartment. Vehicle has also been inspected by manufacturer. There were no warning lamps or messages.
Dec 2022- Windshield trim on passenger side ripped off while driving on the interstate. Sept 2023- noticed noise while driving. Checked driver side trim and noticed seal was gone. Trim was cracked along its entirety. Replaced before it also flew off
Doing 70 mph and trim along passenger windshield broke in half and flew off
OEM Ford Gen 4 SYNC 3 Nav APIM suddenly started sporadically functioning. Contacted Ford after viewing multiple recalls from previous years Ford vehicles with exact issue. After being told there was no recall on my 2019 Explorer, was given a quote of $170.00 to diagnose issue, $900 + for APIM module, plus installation and programming. We purchased a re-programmed APIM module and installed. Problem is now corrected. Recall needs entered on this unit. Windshield trim falling off and deteriorating - windshield rattling - took to dealer to replace windshield trim - paid 642.00 to replace deteriorated trim - want a recall on this as it is very dangerous/ I also want reimbursement of 642.00 for repair
The rear camera failed and it was discovered a corroded connector and cable. This is causing rear camera to fail. Ford helped with the repair cost however, the entire cable was replaced. Waited 5 months. This is a common problem and FORD should cover the refund and recall. The cameras are on a recall but not the cables that are causing the camera to fail. The repair costs like $2000. Passenger's side A pillar trim piece broke and flew off at highway speed. This seems to be a previously identified manufacturer's defect not yet recalled.
Windshield and door trim is coming unglued and flaps while driving normal highway speeds.
I have a 2019 Ford Explorer. I have seen that serval people have reported the front windshield trimming flying off going down the road for no reason. I recently had to replace both of my window trimming because this happened to me. One flew completely off going down the interstate and the other one came off but lucky did not fly off with traffic around. This is very dangerous not only for the owner of the vehicle but other vehicles around when it flys off. I have contacted FORD and they do not want to reimburse me for the amount of money I have spent to get this fixed. This is not a default on the owners end, it is a FORD default. I feel as if Ford needs to reimburse. Again, this could be very dangerous for other drivers on the road when these prices fly off. Safety first.
Roof rack rails coming off car. Recall number 21S22. I took my 2019 Ford explorer to the local Ford dealer on 03/25/2022 and roof rails were repaired. Roof rails coming off again. I called Ford motor company again (CS-40164791). A lady named Fallon told me there is nothing Ford Motor Company can do. All recall attempts have been made. Roof rails did not look like this when car was new, plus the roof rails looked like new when local Ford dealer made first recall repair. Now coming off again. Roof rails may not have been repaired correctly or to recall recommendation. I have checked many Ford Explorer’s, in parking lot, between 2016 and 2019 none have roof rails sticking up 3/4 of an inch in rear of car like mine.
I have had the key pad replaced 2 times because it melts at top. It has melted again Should it be recalled
There is a recall and no remedy has been done. Still waiting on a call or email.
We continue to smell exhaust fumes in the cabin on the vehicle.
1. The vehicle HORN unknowingly and unexpectedly stopped working, became unavailable, and subsequently failed to alert other of hazardous conditions, when approperiately initiated by the driver/operator. Without any indication or prior warning to the driver that the HORN was NOT FUNCTIONAL. This vehicle can be made available for NHTSA inspection upon request. For all intensive purposes, the only unique purpose for having a vehicle HORN is for SAFETY. 2. SAFETY was compromised and reslted in highly eleveted risks for the Driver, Passangers, Pedestrians, Traffic Officers, By Standers, Other Vehicles and Congestion, following a Night Time Egress of an NFL Football Game. 3. The problem is repeatable and the HORN is currently in a FAILED state. The HORN has not been diagnosed or repaired. It has not been confirmed, by the Dealer, nor Independent Service Center. WHY? For them to bill me some ungodly amount, just to tell me, my the HORN DOES NOT WORK.. ON a vehicle I financed/purchased 4 months ago? and that I paid $200 last month for a FAILED BATTERY last month. Good LORD, and on a vehicle with more automated driver assist sensors, than a MARTIAN LAND EXPLORER? and the HORN FAILS? For SAFETY, HORNS are intentionally "enabled" and maintained in fuctional state. Note: AUTO OWNER has reported this SAFETY DEFECT to NHTSA. Owner requests all costs of diagnosis, parts, replacement, labor, repairs, wiring, computer, software, and the transparent identification of flaws in automatic updates via internet and wireless, connectivity, software updates, digital processing of vehicle operating systems, and digital monitoring of driving conditions, location, and environment. 4. No. It has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance reps, or others. Yet. 5. No warning lights, messages, or indicators prior to non-functioning and unexpected HORN failure. I would like to request independent NHTSA inspection Root Cause Analysis. Thank You
The windshield weather stripping has Disintegrated . Half is missing. What’s left crumbles in your hand. I am get a picture, just not at this time. I will have it there is ever a follow up.
LAST 2 TIMES I HAVE DRIVE THE VEHICLE MORE THAN SEVERAL HOURS, A BURNT ODD SMELL HAS COME FROM THE ENGINE HOWEVER THERE HAVE BEEN NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, ONLY AN ODOR OR CHALKY BURNT SMELL. I HAVE 3 YOUNG KIDS AND THEY SMELLED IT AS WELL. IT HASNT HAPPEND ON SHORT TRIPS I NOTICED AFTER LONGER TRIPS OF DRIVING

CARBON MONOXIDE SMELL IN THE CAR WHEN DRIVING, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND THEY TELL US THEY CAN NOT FIND A SMELL, OF A PROBLEM, SO WE HAVE JUST HAD TO LIVE WITH THE HORRID SMELL, WITH A NEW BABY AND ANOTHER SMALL CHILD RIDING INSIDE. NOTICED SEVERE EXHAUST SMELL WHEN DEFROST IS ON WHILE DRIVING, AND MORE MODERATELY WHEN THE RECIRCULATED AIR IS ON. LOOKED UP THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT OUR 2019 FORD EXPLORER IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES THAT CAUSED A SOFT RECALL FROM FORD FOR THEIR 2011-2017 MODELS. TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTER, BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE TECH AT FORD SERVICE CALLED THEIR HOTLINE, WHO STATED "REAR AIR VENTS WERE LOOSE CAUSING THIS CONCERN". FOLLOWING THIS CALL, FORD SERVICE CENTER DID THE FOLLOWING (ALL QUOTES ARE FROM SERVICE INVOICE): "REMOVED REAR BUMPER COVER AND INSPECT[ED] AIR EXTRACTORS. INSPECTION FOUND BOTH EXTRACTORS WERE NOT CONNECTED ON THE LEFT REAR CORNER OF BOTH SIDES, LIKE THEY ARE BROKEN WILL NOT PROPERLY SEAT. INSPECTION ALSO FOUND LIFTGATE DRAIN VALVE WAS MISSING AND LR TAILLAMP GROMET WAS NOT SEATED TO THE BODY. REPLACED BOTH EXTRACTORS AND DRAIN VALVE, RESEATED LR TAILLAMP BODY PLUG, REINSTALLED REAR BUMPER AND TEST DROVE." WE HAVE NOT NOTICED THE EXHAUST SMELL SINCE THE FIX ONE WEEK AGO. I AM REPORTING THIS SO THAT NHTSA AND ANYONE READING THIS KNOWS THAT THE FORD EXHAUST ISSUES THAT CAUSED SO MANY PROBLEMS ARE STILL ONGOING THROUGH THE 2019 MODEL, AND ALSO SO THAT CONSUMERS WHO HAVE THIS MODEL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO TELL THEIR LOCAL FORD SERVICE CENTERS TO DO TO FIX IT.

JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2019 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND ALMOST NEARLY BEING SIDE SWIPED BY A BIG RIG WHO APPARENTLY DID NOT SEE ME OR HEAR MY HORN. I THEN PULLED OVER NEAREST EXIT AND PRESSED MY HORN TO HEAR THAT IT WAS LOW SOUNDING. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS DEFECTIVE OR A RECALL ON HORNS. I SEARCHED ONLINE TO FIND OUT THAT FORD HAS ONLY INSTALLED 1 HORN FOR THIS YEAR MODEL. NOT SURE IF ITS TO BE CHEAP OR BY MISTAKE, BUT I HAVE READ MANY REVIEWS THAT THERE'S ONLY 1 HORN INSTALLED WHEN ALL PREVIOUS YEARS HAVE 2 HORNS INSTALLED. THERE ALSO HAS BEEN VIDEOS MADE ON YOUTUBE REGARDING CONCERNS OF THESE 2019 FORD EXPLORERS. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE.

REAR HATCH ELECTRIC OPENING/CLOSING MECHANISM FAILED - HATCH CAME DOWN A STRUCK THE HEAD OF A PERSON CAUSING AN INJURY. ALSO BECAUSE THE HATCH WOULDN'T CLOSE PROPERLY EXHAUST ENTERED THE VEHICLE WHEN BEING DRIVEN.

THE 2019 FORD EXPLORER IS DELIVERED NEW WITH ONE INADEQUATE HORN. ALL OTHER MODEL YEARS HAVE TWO HORNS AND ARE WHAT YOU EXPECT FROM A HORN. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, THE HORN IS SO LOW I COULD NOT SCARE A SQUIRREL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAID THEY CANNOT UPGRADE. THE FORD DEALER SAID THEY CANNOT UPGRADE WITHOUT EFFECTING THE WARRANTY.
