On numerous occasions, with increasing frequency, the truck has suddenly not responded to pressing the throttle pedal. I have not figured out the exact situation that makes it happen. From the best of my knowledge I am not sure exactly what induces the issue. I have noticed it several times where the truck goes from a mid range RPM (consistent with normal driving conditions) then after the brake or natural deceleration occurs and you go to reengage the throttle pedal the truck does not respond. There is a very extended delay to any speed increases. This has been extremely dangerous when making left turns through traffic as the truck does not respond and leaves you in harms way. It has been happening several times a week now and I have read numerous reports of the same thing on forums. I see no warning lights or pop ups that can support a large issue.

My cluster gauge is turning off while I’m driving and turning on after by itself. It happened too many times maybe 20 times in last 2 months. When this happens I’m loosing all my settings I have done before. While it’s off I can’t see any information including my speed and distracting me. I share this issue on platforms and too many people having same issue. I found too many video on YouTube about exact same problem. It happens on the f150 trucks with digital cluster gauge produced after 2020 and even brand new ones having same issue still problem is ongoing. Ford and ford dealerships aware of the problem but they aren’t doing anything about this and they say it’s well known issue.

I purchased a 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost Lariat in November 2022. It was advertised as a Gold Certified Used vehicle. In October I stopped and put the truck in park, and when I got back in the truck it wouldn’t shift out of Park. The Message in the instrument panel said to shift into Park to start. However, the shift lever was stuck in Park with the yellow light flashing next to P. I had to spend $100 to have my truck towed to Young Ford in Ogden, Utah which is the closest dealership to my home. They had my truck there for two days and then called me and let me know my truck was ready to be picked up. They told me the problem was a software update and once they had completed the update, everything was working fine. They then charged me approximately $360 for the update. So essentially, I just spent $460 for a software update on my truck that is set to automatically download and install updates several times each week. The technician at the dealership checked my vehicle history and verified that I was up to date with all available updates. In just under two years of ownership, I have now had to take it to the dealership twice for software updates, and even more times for multiple recalls. This latest issue is infuriating because a simple software upgrade cost me two days of use, towing charges, and $360 to diagnose and download the update. Why does a software update completely disable a vehicle, and why is it not Ford’s responsibility? What if this happened during driving on the freeway? I should not have to take it to the dealership to be updated so that the vehicle will operate. In my mind this is no different than a recall. If a car becomes inoperable because of a problem from the dealer than the dealer should be financially responsible and not pass those costs to the consumer!

There hasn't been an incident yet. But, I want a record of this somewhere. I'm assuming there may be an incident in the future; and, I'm concerned about that. Either an incident with my truck or an incident with the 100s of thousands of Ford and Lincoln vehicles from 2017-2023 that have this issue. The issue is Ford SSM 51939 - a whining noise coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. I have taken my truck to a dealership. I have called Ford about this. I have researched extensively online. I have called NHTSA. I have emailed the Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance. I am now filing this report online. The safety issue? For me, I'm now having to wear EARPLUGS when driving my vehicle. For others, they have been told to turn up the radio. I am now hearing the noise all the time -- believe it or not, even sometimes when I'm not even in my truck. Ford needs to address this. They send me to you. I don't have the 'option' of TRADING IN MY VEHICLE...others don't either. What am I to do? When something serious happens because people are remedying this themselves...it will be a very sad day. But, maybe only then will Ford do something. I don't know what else to do other than call Ford everyday, and email every agency that may be able to apply some pressure. Sadly, I have a full-time job...and this is really frustrating for me, in more ways that one. Hope you have a nice day! Battery drain issue caused by over the air updates causing Low Battery warnings to occur. This issue has been repeatedly looked at and brought to the dealership since purchase. Alternator replaced at dealership. Battery replaced at dealership. Updates forced by dealership, multiple times. Battery minder installed to ensure start during winter months due to constant BMS warnings of 12V Battery State of Charge Low and infotainment Low Power Mode notifications. OTA update currently causing this issue. Attempted to clear by personally, by plugging battery minder in overnight for consecutive nights, prior to booking 40k mile service with dealership. Brought in for service, found battery state of charge reading below 50%. Recovered to above 70%. Requested I let the OTA attempt to complete overnight. OTA has continued to fail for the last 3 days, even while on the battery minder. Vehicle is driven at least 1 hour per day. BMS sensor installed: ML3T-10C652-BA. Due to the power consumption reduction saving functions of the system, low power mode causes functions and features of the vehicle to slowly turn off and support only the driver access when in low power mode. This includes terminating the gateway module that the OTA update is required to verify and validate completion with. This also changes reported settings in the infotainment system to appear as if the driver has deactivated WiFi, causing an inaccurate assessment of issues by technicians. A low enough state of charge, even when inaccurate, can cause the vehicle to fail to start.

3.6.2021 - Ford F150 purchased at Battlefield Ford (Ourisman Ford), Manassus VA / registered in CT 7.27.21 – inspected by Torrington Ford, Torrington CT for rubbing sound front left side, nothing found / 6,325 miles 2.10.22 – inspected for same issue / nothing found / 16,000 miles 7.27.22 – inspected for same issue / nothing found / 24,000 miles 12.24.2022 – “Catastrophic failure” of front differential / 34,369 miles. On Christmas Eve 2022 myself, husband and son were driving to family in NY when the truck very quickly started to make a severe grinding sound, became unable to steer, loss of control, and started to produce smoke & fire under the hood. We immediately stopped and got out unharmed. Fire was dripping out of the bottom of the truck and smoke/fire under the hood. We were lucky. Firetrucks came but were unable to do anything. The truck's wheels completely seized up - the tow truck had to skid it onto the flatbed. Repaired at Simmons-Rockwell Ford, Hallstead, PA. Complete new front differential and damaged parts in proximity to the failure (pinion gear, axle shaft, etc). 12.16.2023 – Again hearing a sound in front left side while driving; bring to the shop for inspection. Shop confirms front differential is failing again, per Torrington Ford, (where all maintenance and repairs were completed, except for the first failed front differential in PA). Advise not to drive for safety reasons. 52,922 miles. With both front differential failures - no warning lights or messages. Symptoms - a slight rubbing/grinding noise in the front left side of vehicle; “rough” sound while driving. 1st front differential – inspected at 6,000 miles, 16,000 miles, and 24,000 miles. Failed at 34,369 miles. 2nd front differential – inspected at 52,922 miles, failing differential, advised not to drive. Dec 2023 – Buy-back claim filed with Ford Motor Co. Denied - "outside of the 18-month warranty period for VA Lemon Law". Clearly, safety is not a guiding tenet for Ford Motor Co.

Radio started blasting a boom/ static sound from the rear speakers and subwoofer; extremely loud and has occurred multiple times. It had previously made a similiar sound occasionally at start up which when under warranty was always diagnosed as unable to duplicate but is now occuring while driving and I am out of warranty. Very startling and distracting when it occurs. Has occured multiple times and lasts upto an hour before I gave up an parked my vehicle. Have a special needs minimally verbal disabled child who is very sensitive to noise (rear speakers are always turned off via fade to front) who was very impacted by this loud explosion of chaos/ noise when it occured with him in the car. Ford response: since out of warranty can pay for diagnostic and repairs. Don't expect NHTSA to care as they weren't concerned with my complaint regarding complete loss of brakes (incomplete or bad programming) with this truck but maybe this will let others know they arent alone if they have this issue.

Console lid with integrated work table. Will not stay open and will slam shut because the springs are not strong enough to hold lid open. This has been present since the vehicle was purchased new. Several members of my family including me have had the lid slam on my fingers. The lid is heavy and it hurts. Local ford dealer said that the console in all the F150 do it and there is no fix from ford. I’m concerned that a grand child may open the lid and it slam down on their fingers and cause serious injury. Ive read multiply f150 complaints about this issue, and even a possible fix. the truck is still under warranty . Ive been dealing with issue from a month after the purchase. It’s a virtual mouse or rat trap to who ever opens the lid! I know this is not your typical safety issue, but it is a safety issue! Thank you

Active Air Dam: My 2021 Ford F150 XLT truck has an active air dam, (AAD), that is suppose to move downwards at speeds of 40mph or greater to help with aerodynamics. This is to help the truck hug the road better at highway speeds. When the truck slows down to under 40mph, the AAD is suppose to recess back up an be tucked away behind the stationary air dam. They started these AAD's on their trucks in the model year of 2021. It has been a widely known issue that the AAD design is flawed and they malfunction and get stuck on the front air dam. Some have came loose and flown off into other vehicles on the roadways. This presents a safety hazard to the owners and other vehicles on the road. Ford refuses to fix it stating that their extended warranty does not cover the parts. This is NOT a warranty issue, this is a poor design issue and a faulty part issue that is going to cause someone to get seriously injured or worse, killed. Some people have reported that their AAD flew off their truck and they didn't even notice until the service tech at the dealership told them during an oil change. So that means their are people out there that are driving with this hazardous part flying off their truck and where is it going? Into the traffic following behind, and what are those drivers going to do when it comes hurling at them at a high rate of speed? Most likely slam on their brakes, causing a rear end collision, or they serve to avoid it and either hit an on coming vehicle head-on or slam into the vehicle next to them on a multi lane highway or interstate. Please make Ford fix their problem before someone gets killed or seriously injured.

Bolt that holds the axle on to the vehicle is broken in half and therefore the axle can unexpectedly fall off the vehicle. It is the rear driver side axle. This was noticed when I recently replaced my tires and the broken screw was loose in the wheel.

Audio/speaker system made extremely loud and surprising pop when vehicle on but audio system off. This could very easily startle the driver causing him to take an unsafe maneuver. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer nor been inspected by anyone, but I have seen other reports of this problem for this model via an internet search. I saw no warning lights prior or after this occurred. Subsequent to this pop, the speakers crackled even when the vehicle was off, but this crackling stopped over the night.

Deafening pulsing noise coming from all speakers , volume button did not turn it off. Shut truck and locked it and did not stop the noise. Unplugged battery and did not stop noise. After about 15 minutes it stopped. Got into truck and there was an electrical burning smell. I have recorded the noise on video. Big safety concern, if the noise happened while I was moving I might have crashed. My ears were ringing for awhile after the incident.

Complete loss of the throttle while in an intersection. Was able to shut down vehicle, then wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on clears issue. This has happened at least three times

The sound system blasted a loud, screeching sound, and I couldn't turn it down. It startled me so much that I ran a red light. It seems many similar models have this issue: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/dangerous-b-o-sound-system-issue.9254/.

I heard a very loud screeching noise around 4K miles and took it to the dealership, they said my axle nut on the driver side of the truck was sheared off. They said it was covered under warranty and repaired the issue. 8k miles after repair it is doing the exact same thing. No check engine lights for this issue ever appeared on the dash. Ford spend about 3 weeks or longer fixing this the first time. They promised when I purchased the truck if there where any issues I would get a loaner vehicle, nothing available to loan on the first time. Now that it’s happened again I called to scheduled a time to repair and they say I can’t even get seen until January 20th. So this truck has costed me a lot of out of pocket money for rentals.

Passenger side rear axle retention bolt sheared off in normal driving conditions (no incident). Heard a knocking sound in rear wheel, removed center cap and found the axle retention bold broken off with bolt head and washer bouncing around in the center cap. Dealer says the part has been redesigned and will be replaced under warranty. Was told vehicle is unsafe to drive.

My trucks integrated brake controller will not consistently control the electric trailer brakes. I plug in the trailer and get confirmation that it is controlling the brakes by manually testing them while rolling and at some point during the trip it stops controlling them without warning. I have tried all methods to be sure the 7 pin connection is seated properly and I am sure it is. I have a 7 pin tester and when I check the electric output at the plug it lights up the circuit (BK) for the brakes. When traveling and I realize I no longer can control the trailer brakes, I pull over and unplug the trailer, plug in the tester and when squeezing the brake controller it will not light up the circuit marked (BK). If I leave it disconnected and shutoff the truck for 15+ minutes and reconnect, it works again only to stop again at some unknown point. There is obviously a seriously dangerous issue here. I have taken it to the Ford dealer and they can't find anything wrong. When it resets you can't duplicate it until you tow for an undermined distance for it to fail again. I have searched the internet and found many people with the same issue and no one has been able to get it solved by all manner of efforts including many efforts at Ford dealers and electrical shops. This form asks for the date it occurred. It started as soon as I took delivery with 5 miles and is ongoing.

2021 F-150 Powerboost giving "Trailer brake system fault" when not in use and has never been used. Additionally getting the "Key not detected" alert when key in truck. Battery in fob has been replaced and tested to be good. These errors have no known trigger mechanisms to repeat. Just happen on their own. I am becoming increasingly concerned if these can continue to worsen over time. Dealer says they havent really seen either issue. Truck was pruchased 11/17/21 and currently has 1998.5 miles.

While towing an RV trailer, the trucks brake controller failed to send signal to trailer when brakes were applied relying on truck only to stop load. The truck recognized trailer was attached but when brake controller was squeezed message on dash was “No Trailer” Stopped at dealer in Kerrville Tx but problem was not seen on scan tool. This issue seems to be intermittent with no warning message when it happens. Manually monitoring brake controller is the only way to determine if the trucks brake controller is functioning correctly. Consumer took the truck in to 2 different dealers with this trailer brake issue. Both dealers wanted to assume the truck loses connection with trailer. Consumer stated truck does not, the trailer brakes just stop working. Consumer stated has taken the truck to 2 different dealers with this trailer brake issue. Both dealers want to assume the truck loses connection with trailer. Consumer truck does not but trailer brakes just stop working. The attached picture shows me squeezing the brake controller while showing the brakes lights coming on on the rear camera.

I had my vehicle on cruise control set at 76mph I switched lanes to pass another vehicle and while still on cruise control I sped my truck to approx. 80mph to pass and after doing that my truck kept accelerating on its own. It reached a speed of 90mph during this time I was pushing on the brakes which did slow the truck but as soon as I would let go it would accelerate back up. After about 15 - 20 seconds it finally stopped doing it and the truck worked fine afterwards. I tried to reproduce the action but it did not do it again.

On several occasions while waiting in an intersection to make a left turn, the vehicle loses power or something. I can put the pedal to the floor and I get no response from the vehicle. Eventually after stepping on gas the truck seems to reimage and go. The only problem is I have nearly been T-Boned thinking I will have the power to make a left turn before oncoming traffic gets to me. I suspect it has something to do with the electrical power is trying to switch to engine power and something is failing. I have no confidence in this truck anymore.

My Sunroof exploded. I was driving down the freeway on a Sunday morning. There were no other vehicles around me and noting overhead anywhere near me. I heard a loud bang similar to a shotgun blast and my sunroof glass shards began to rain down onto me. The sunroof was closed but the moonroof cover was opened. There is little to no chance that anything struck the sunroof because I was alone on the road with no other vehicle within many yards. Also there was a lot of glass in and on my truck bed so it seems like the glass exploded outwards before gravity took over. I was cut up on my arms, hands and on my forehead luckily I was wearing a hat and glasses so the glass did not get into my eyes. Even more luckily my children were not in the car considering their car seats were full of shattered glass. Also I am lucky there were no vehicles around me because this explosion was clearly a distraction. Also, my truck is less than 2 weeks old and has just over 500 miles on it. There was no warning or known issues with the glass considering it is a brand new truck. I have learned that Ford f150 sunroofs are tempered glass not laminate which causes them to break in this dangerous way as opposed to crack like a windshield would.

When slowing down the truck lurches forward when going back into electric and/or gas mode, and has nearly caused my truck to collide with the vehicle in front of me. The truck will pick up speed when slowing down, as when downshifting and switching out/in electric to gas mode it propels the truck forward even while firmly pressing the brake.
