On Sunday, [XXX], my truck spontaneously burst into flames while parked in my front yard. I had just returned from doing a number of errands. The truck had been running fine with no indications of a problem. I was outside tending to my smoker when I heard a sort of popping/crackling noise. I looked up at my truck approximately 40 feet away and saw flames shooting out from the engine bay through the hood gaps. I called 911 and attempted to douse the flames with a powder fire extinguisher with no luck. By the time the fire department arrived 15 minutes later or so, the truck was fully involved and burnt to the frame. I didn't smell gasoline during the initial startup, but a strong smell of burning wires. The concerns are of course for my safety and that of my family. It was just luck that the truck was parked in the front yard rather than next to my house where it's normally parked. We were have a sidewalk put in and thus my normal parking space wasn't available. I could've been driving at the time and with the speed of this fire, I'm not confident I would've been able to get out. The truck has been seen by the insurance company and is being towed out of my yard sometime today May 29th, 2025. I don't know where it will towed to. I have pictures and videos detailing the fire and it's progression. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
After driving home from work on 12/20/24 the truck was parked at ~10pm. At ~1AM on 12/21/24, I was alerted that the truck was on fire. I found the vehicle fully engulfed in the hood and cab area. There was no prior indication of a problem or issue. The truck was fully destroyed and my home and Jeep were damaged. My home was damaged and only saved because I brought my garden hose out and sprayed the house until the local FD arrived. The local Fire Investigator and the Insurance Fire investigator could it definitively identify how/why the truck caught fire and burned up.
on January 20, 2024 I serviced my F-150 due to a malfunction. The DTC code came back as P0A1E-00. This is for the Starter/Generator Control Module. The belt and starter were reaplaced. The code appeared again on 12/21/24 2 times, 12/25/24, 12/26/24 2 times. I brought this back to the dealer on 12/19/2024. 12/26/2024, 12/27/2024. Somehow there was a TSB which I cannot acces that information, but this mentioned to test the battery. My battery failed. I paid for the diagnostics and battery. Then 3 hours later on 12/26 my Tuck went into a powersave mode. This time I brought it back on 12/27/2024, and got a call form the dealer on 12/31 that the replacement battery was defective. This was replaced. I am trying to find out why my battery died after only 2 years. Also since my DTC is related to the charging system, this could ptentially damage my battery. And they also replaced it with a defective battery. Ironically, there is a current recall of over 20,000 batteries being defective from Ford. I mentioned all of this to dealer and Ford directly, and no one can give me a straight answer of what it says to fix my issue.
Loss of Acceleration in 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid I am writing to report a safety issue with my 2022 Ford F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, which has been experiencing acceleration lag and loss of power during regular driving conditions. Component/System that Failed: The powertrain system, specifically related to the integration between the electric motor and gasoline engine, appears to be malfunctioning. This issue primarily affects the vehicle's ability to accelerate after a stop or during turns. Safety Risk: The loss of acceleration poses a significant safety risk to both myself and others on the road. The delay in throttle response has caused the truck to remain in a low gear for several seconds, even with the accelerator fully pressed. This issue has occurred while merging onto highways, when moving through intersections, where quick acceleration is necessary to avoid collisions and a simply stop signs taking a turn where I'm not able to accelerate after. The delay increases the likelihood of rear-end collisions and creates dangerous situations, especially in heavy traffic. The problem has been reproduced by a dealer and many other owners have reported the same issue. I'm hoping that Ford has releases Powertrain Control Module (PCM) update aimed at addressing this, but the issue persists for many, including myself after recent PCM updates. The vehicle has been formally inspected by my local Ford dealership. They will be applying a PCM update on 10/10/2024. There were no warning lamps or error messages that appeared before or during the incidents. The problem occurs unexpectedly, usually when I press the accelerator, particularly in Eco or Normal driving modes. The issue has been less frequent in Sport and Tow/Haul modes, but this results in increased fuel consumption, which negates the advantages of the hybrid system.
Reduce power warning, instrument cluster is black, extremely loud pulse noise from radio that can not be turned off , catalytic converter issue ( ck engine light ) stalled in traffic. and horrible fuel mileage. Nothing resolved from the dealer.
After coasting or turning I lose all ability to accelerate for a short period of time. When trying to merge the truck fails to speed up causing a dangerous situation where traffic jams up behind you
Vehicle's engine will not start. When attempting to start, it will turn on all usual electrical components, but will immediately show an warning message to "Stop Safely Now" along with an engine light of a red outlined truck with exclamation mark. Followed by a message of accessory mode on, however the engine will not start with no access to power steering or shifting gears. Normal attempts to jump start or charge the battery will not work. All fuses and harness connections appear to be normal. After researching Ford community forums, this appears to be a common complaint in the Powerboost Hybrid 2021-2022 Ford F-150s. Extremely inconvenient as this situation has left us stranded several hours from home with no reasonable solution other than to tow to a dealership. We hope our message helps encourage Ford Motor to continue researching the issue and come with a reasonable solution for all effected.
Vehicle will not start. Get "Stop safely now" message. It is 16 degrees outside. What if this had happened while I was out. This would be a life threatening problem. This appears to be a known issue, but Ford has not fixed it. There are hundreds of reports on various forums of the same problem.
When sitting at a stop light/stop sign/a complete stop, the truck will switch to electric mode... after about five to seven seconds, the truck "jumps" -- if feels like you just got rear ended. Truck currently at the dealership with no known ETA on repair.
I had warranty work done on a trailer brake module on October 23, 2023. About 3 weeks after that it seemed like my transmission was a little rough. Then Nov. 6, I had several incidences where I was at a stop, and it felt like someone hit me from behind and lurch my truck forward a little bit. It seems very dangerous. In case someone in a crosswalk is walking in front of me I could possibly hit them up. My Ford diagnostic tells me that it is the electric transmission fluid pump. There was no warning no lights lit up on my dashboard warning me that this would happened. After I started the motor the next morning, the check engine light came on. The next day I drove it for a short time around the block and the check engine light was not on. I drove it straight to the dealership and made an appointment to take it in. I have read several articles and forums complaining about the exact same thing recently. It seems as if there should be a recall on this issue. Another issue since I’ve had the truck brand new in July 2023 is it always skipped second gear which kind of makes it a little rough starting off.
The heat exchanger on my truck is faulty per the serve department at Balise Ford of Wilbraham. I had a check engine light coming on intermittently starting in October of 2022. In late December, the check engine came on steady. I made an appointment with Balise to have it checked out as well as to have other recall issues resolved. They inspected the truck and found the heat exchanger was faulty and would have to be replaced. They ordered the part. In April, the part finally came in and I brought the truck in to get it sorted out. A couple days later when I went to pick up the truck, I found out that the wrong part had come in and that the repair would have to be done when the proper part came in. They told me at the time that it could take a month or so to arrive. It's been 2 months since that time and the part still isn't available and I'm told that Ford is planning on shipping 72 units nationwide around June 30th. It doesn't appear that I'm high enough on the list to get one of these parts when they become available. This is now over 6 months I've been waiting for the part. The issues are 2 fold, 1st, I don't know if any sort of damage is being done to the engine due to this issue. There is something overheating in the system. I drive 65 miles to work each way and some days I have to pull over 3 and 4 times to let the heat exchanger cool down. The engine temperature shows as normal, but I get an alert on my dash that tells me that the engine is going into low power mode due to overheating and it's not possible to maintain highway speeds and creates a situation where I need to get over to side of the road quickly since I can't maintain pace. I never know when this will happen. The second issue is that I live in Massachusetts, my truck has to pass a safety inspection. It won't pass with a check engine light on. Once rejected, I have 50 days to get it repaired. After that time, I legally cannot drive the vehicle.
This past week, I was sitting at a red light with my foot on the brake (not the gas) and all of sudden, my truck slammed into gear hard enough that I thought I was rear ended. I actually had to look to see if a car did hit me. This happened to me twice this week. Also, several times this week, I was just letting go of the brake and the car slammed into gear, jolting the car as well. just letting go of the brake, the car jolted as well without pressing on the gas. It wasn’t a smooth transition from letting go of the brake to pressing on the gas.
After purchasing the truck new I drove it for four days and it started to leak coolant from under the middle of the truck. The truck had less then 200 miles on it and it already needed service. Once I looked up 2022 Ford F-150 Power Boost coolant leak I found out there are a lot of people experiencing the same issues. I did not know these trucks were having problems otherwise I would not have purchased this truck. If I would have not realized the coolant was leaking the truck would have overheated. After taking it to the dealer they said that exhaust pipe extension was bad and leaking. They informed me that limited parts were available and there was only three in Texas. The Ford dealer ordered the parts 6/30/22 and they still have not shipped as of today 7/7/22. They don’t seem to have any urgency to repair my brand new truck. I have heard some people waiting 10 weeks or more for parts which is a ridiculous for a brand new truck. I feel like there should be a recall on this particular truck if it’s such a common problem. I am lucky that I didn’t attempt to take this truck on a family vacation because we would have been stuck somewhere.
There is a heat exchanger in the exhaust that leaks coolant and causes the engine to overheat. This has happened to over 500+ Powerboost Engines. Ford Case# CAS-35641317-W3Y6F0
