I was driving down the road and heard a loud clunking noise. Then I had lost power and the rear wheels were spinning out of control. There was a grinding/spinning/whirring noise coming from beneath the vehicle, sounded like from behind. I was fortunately able to regain control of the vehicle by shifting it into 4WD and avoided an accident. I brought the Vehicle to Gaudin Ford for repair and was informed it was a recalled part failure recall number 23S65. I had previously requested the recall repairs to be performed during routine maintenance, but was informed parts were not available. At this time, I've been 6 weeks without my truck and there is no end in site. It was insinuated that they might not even be making this part anymore, but the Ford recall center was unable to confirm or refute this. In the interim, I do not have a suitable replacement. I have been provided a small vehicle as a loaner, but I am unable to use this to drive >50 mile radius, I can't leave the state, can't loan it to my children, can't tow or haul. All the things I need my truck for, I'm unable to do. Either, I need access to a rental with similar capability to my truck without all the restrictions, or fix the truck in a timely manner, or provide me a suitable loaner without all the restrictions, or buy back my truck, or something. Instead I feel like I'm being held hostage by a company who is refusing to fulfill the recall responsibility in a timely and suitable manner. I have contacted the dealer, Ford customer service, and the Ford recall center on numerous occasions and have been told that other than getting an update when the part is available, there's nothing else they can do. The Ford case number is [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On Sunday, [XXX], my truck spontaneously burst into flames while parked in my front yard. I had just returned from doing a number of errands. The truck had been running fine with no indications of a problem. I was outside tending to my smoker when I heard a sort of popping/crackling noise. I looked up at my truck approximately 40 feet away and saw flames shooting out from the engine bay through the hood gaps. I called 911 and attempted to douse the flames with a powder fire extinguisher with no luck. By the time the fire department arrived 15 minutes later or so, the truck was fully involved and burnt to the frame. I didn't smell gasoline during the initial startup, but a strong smell of burning wires. The concerns are of course for my safety and that of my family. It was just luck that the truck was parked in the front yard rather than next to my house where it's normally parked. We were have a sidewalk put in and thus my normal parking space wasn't available. I could've been driving at the time and with the speed of this fire, I'm not confident I would've been able to get out. The truck has been seen by the insurance company and is being towed out of my yard sometime today May 29th, 2025. I don't know where it will towed to. I have pictures and videos detailing the fire and it's progression. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

today is March 13, 2025. Ford Motor Co promised to make parts available to repair this truck's axle as part of Manufacturer Recall 23S65 (NHTSA Recall Number23V896) by this month, March 2025. With 17 days left in the month, I have received no information regarding any possible future repair. Please push Ford to make good on their promise.
The manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall for my F-150 vehicle in a timely manner. Ford initially identified the axle bolt fault as Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34 on Feb. 14, 2023 to a limited range of vehicles but then expanded the action as a recall notification 23S65 on Dec. 22, 2023 covering all 2021-2023 trucks with their "Trailer Tow Max Duty package". Based on these dates, Ford has had over 2 years to engineer a solution to this safety recall but has not done so.
1. Transmission. Auxiliary transmission fluid pump. 2. Yes. 3. No. 4. No. 5. No. Stopped at a traffic light, first inline near crosswalk. For no apparent reason, the vehicle jumped forward without any input from myself. Thought I was rear ended by someone behind me. Luckily, I always have my left foot on the brake pedal when stopped and was able to apply additional pressure to keep the vehicle from moving forward. This is a new to me, used vehicle. After doing research I see that this is an ongoing problem for the 2021 to present Ford F 150 PowerBoost, hybrid, trucks. Hopefully a safety recall will be issued.

When at a signal light with the brake pushed, we are experiencing an issue where the whole vehicle will unexpectedly lurch forward as if hit from behind after coming to a stop. This could possibly result in the truck hitting the vehicle in front of you if you are in tight traffic. Our local dealer inspected but could not find a solution.

Two times the wheel end hub bolt on my left rear axle broke off. The first time the car was under warranty before the recall and the dealer provided a car for me to use while the truck was in the shop. This past week no vehicle or rental car was provided. The repair will take over one week to be completed. Since this is an ongoing problem without the final repair and parts until next year, Ford should be required to provide a vehicle to the customer.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR AXLE BOLT BROKE. Ford says the broken bolt could result in loss of drive power putting drivers or others at risk. Local Ford dealer confirmed axle failure and asked me to not drive the vehicle until they could get a replacement axle assembly installed which could take 1-4 weeks. There were no warning lamps or messages. I thought I could hear an unusual sound from the rear of the vehicle. The unusual sound occurred at around 57000 miles on the odometer.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH at midnight, there was an abnormally loud grinding and clunking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact inspected the vehicle, but could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear axle hub bolt had fractured, causing the rear axle to be damaged. The dealer determined that the rear axle assembly and the rear axle hub bolt needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000(Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer sent a diagnostic report to the manufacturer and ordered the same parts for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

When traveling at low speeds, 10-15 mph, and coasting (no accelerator input) then pressing the accelerator there is no response. The engine will not rev up and the truck will not accelerate for a good 6-8 seconds. It happens usually in parking lots or when making low speed turns onto street intersections or pulling out of driveways. This is dangerous, as pulling in front of traffic then having no acceleration for several seconds could cause a rear-ending accident. It also happens often when going over steep small speed bumps in the parking garage at my office. It's very annoying and in some situations very dangerous. This has been happening since I bought the truck in January 2023. It is now Sept 2024.
My vehicle lurches forward at low speeds which presents a collision risk. The check engine light illuminated and I received the following alert in the FordPass app: The powertrain control system has detected the transmission fluid auxiliary pump motor did not come on when commanded. The vehicle’s Start/Stop feature may not be active when this condition is present.
I was driving on the busiest section of interstate in my city which goes up a bit of an incline. I was in the left lane. As I was going up the incline, the RPMs on my truck jumped way up and then I lost all power. My dash lit up with a red message saying "STOP SAFELY NOW" and I had no propulsion at all. There is no shoulder on the left side of this interstate and very little shoulder on the right. I had to whip over across 2 lines with zero power while I was losing speed, almost getting run into by 2 separate tractor trailers who both had to slam on their brakes and honk at me. I made it to a tiny section of shoulder up against a large retaining wall. It was so tight that the only way I could get out of my truck safely was through the passenger door, and then it would only open halfway before hitting the wall. Thankfully, our state's DOT emergency vehicle showed up about 15 minutes later to help mitigate traffic. I had to have the truck towed and it is now in the shop. Ford has known about the issues with the CDF drums in these trucks for a long time and have an associated TSB for it: 24-2176. It's a transmission issue, and there is already a class action lawsuit against Ford over the 10R80 transmission. This is the most dangerous situation I have ever been put into in my decades of driving. Ford is negligent in this by acknowledging that there are potentially catastrophic issues with their transmissions and doing nothing to remedy them on their dime. Over the months prior to this, I had minor issues in 8th, 9th, and 10th gear where occasionally the transmission felt like it "slipped" slightly. A service engine warning would pop up, but it would go away after the truck was restarted and the issue wouldn't pop up again for weeks. The Ford service people back in February claimed they had fixed it when I took it in by reprogramming a module.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission. Reduce power warning, instrument cluster is black, extremely loud pulse noise from radio that can not be turned off , catalytic converter issue ( ck engine light ) stalled in traffic. and horrible fuel mileage. Nothing resolved from the dealer.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Clicking noise began at 32,000 miles. Heard when brakes applied, then heard again when accelerating from a stop. Dealership needed the truck 4 different times to diagnose the problem. Entire differential needs to be replaced

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed and towing a camper, the vehicle made a shuddering sound and failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact was unsure what warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that there was a recall related to the failure. The dealer replaced the rear axle hub and seals. The contact stated on another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer replaced the rear wheel speed sensor. The vehicle was returned to the contact, and the contact stated that the vehicle failed to drive or reverse as needed. The vehicle was taken to another dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was related to the recall. The vehicle was not repaired, and the contact stated that the warranty was used to repair the vehicle two times to repair the rear axle; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Vehicle's engine will not start. When attempting to start, it will turn on all usual electrical components, but will immediately show an warning message to "Stop Safely Now" along with an engine light of a red outlined truck with exclamation mark. Followed by a message of accessory mode on, however the engine will not start with no access to power steering or shifting gears. Normal attempts to jump start or charge the battery will not work. All fuses and harness connections appear to be normal. After researching Ford community forums, this appears to be a common complaint in the Powerboost Hybrid 2021-2022 Ford F-150s. Extremely inconvenient as this situation has left us stranded several hours from home with no reasonable solution other than to tow to a dealership. We hope our message helps encourage Ford Motor to continue researching the issue and come with a reasonable solution for all effected.
In park changed mode to 4A and moved shifter to reverse no reverse. Truck in electric mode then engine started and reverse activated. Upon stop shifted to drive and truck would not move. Engine started then truck moved.
Axle bolt was shredded off and making a clanking sound while driving. They replaced the axle. Should have gone ahead and replaced both sides because the other axle bolt will also break soon and is a huge liability.
My 2022 Ford F150 Powerboost Hybrid has the Max Tow Axle option. A known defect is that the LH and RH Axle bolts break early in the life of the vehicle. The failure is a tensile failure in the bolt causing the head to essentially pop off, rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. I have had (1) of these failures so far. I expect more failures to come and do not accept that Ford has fixed this issue with the Max Tow option utilizing the 3/4 float axle design that they have had since 2021. For 2024 Ford is now disallowing the Max Tow option with the Hybrid Powerboost model, leading me to believe there is an incompatablity between the Hybrid drive system in the Powerboost model and the Max Tow axle design. Possibly certain dynamic forces are inherent in the combination to cause this failure. It is speculated it could be the regenerative braking that is part of the Hybrid system. Other scenarios are possible as well. Aside from the ridiculously small 12 mm single bolt in this design, I believe this change with the 2024 model year is indicative that they have presented an inadequate fix for us current 2021-2023 model year owners since they have discontinued this combination. Ford is repairing under CSP [XXX]. I request NHTSA investigate this issue thoroughly and force Ford to recall all Powerboost Hybrid F150 trucks with this design and present a proper / robust solution that will not fail when out of warranty which is very likely to occur in my opinion. Ford's actions are inadequate regarding this issue in my opinion. Thank you. [XXX] Greensboro, NC [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While in 4A, at a stop the vehicle lurched forward. This repeated 5 times having come to a stop with brake pedal depressed or not (autohold). Check engine light came on at some point for auxiliary transmission pump motor did not come on. Started after having truck serviced and pcm reprogrammed. Back at dealership claims issue due to HEV battery dropping below 285V and going in to fail safe due to usage in stop and go traffic. Truck was not in stop and go traffic during drive in which incidents occurred.
When sitting at a stop light/stop sign/a complete stop, the truck will switch to electric mode... after about five to seven seconds, the truck "jumps" -- if feels like you just got rear ended. Truck currently at the dealership with no known ETA on repair.
1) The rear axle bolt failed on my Max Tow equipped truck, the bolt head and washer broke off and were rattling around in the wheel. 2) The rear axle bolt secures the axle to the knuckle/hub and transmit power from the differential to the wheels. Without this bolt the axle could fall away from the hub and the vehicle would loose the ability to drive. 3) Yes the problem has been reproduced, Ford has CSP 22B34 for this same issue. That CSP is incomplete, it does not cover all of the date ranges that this issue can happen on. 4) No, there were no warning lights or messages while the issue was present.
Power train is pathetic, Ford has a software fix, that isn’t the issue. NHTSA [XXX], and force a recall if you research you will see across all platforms the 10R80 is failing, clutch blowing, Ford has known for years you morons. Power train isn’t safe, fuel economy has tanked on this truck INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I had warranty work done on a trailer brake module on October 23, 2023. About 3 weeks after that it seemed like my transmission was a little rough. Then Nov. 6, I had several incidences where I was at a stop, and it felt like someone hit me from behind and lurch my truck forward a little bit. It seems very dangerous. In case someone in a crosswalk is walking in front of me I could possibly hit them up. My Ford diagnostic tells me that it is the electric transmission fluid pump. There was no warning no lights lit up on my dashboard warning me that this would happened. After I started the motor the next morning, the check engine light came on. The next day I drove it for a short time around the block and the check engine light was not on. I drove it straight to the dealership and made an appointment to take it in. I have read several articles and forums complaining about the exact same thing recently. It seems as if there should be a recall on this issue. Another issue since I’ve had the truck brand new in July 2023 is it always skipped second gear which kind of makes it a little rough starting off.
Right rear main axle bolt sheared and separated from the axle. I am concerned the wheel and hub could separate. Customer Satisfaction Program 22B34 may apply, but the dealer is not certain but is looking into it. filing this report as this seems like a serious flaw.
This 2022 Ford f150 has experienced the exact failure shown in ford CSP 22B34. The right rear axle securing bolt has sheared. The CSP applies to trucks built through Sept. 30 2021. This truck was built in Dearborn, in November - BUT has had the exact failure. I am concerned Ford has under estimated the number of affected vehicles for this safety issue. This is concerning. Ford rep said it is OK to drive, even though it has failed and was not listed in the range. it could be a larger issue than the CSP.
I was driving south on Interstate 5 near Stockton CA and I noticed an awful sound coming from the back of my truck. When I gave it more throttle nothing was happening, my truck was slowing down, the more throttle I gave it the louder the grinding noise got. My truck was slowing down to a crawl, and I had to pull off the freeway, the shoulder was only big enough for my truck to fit, I could not open the driver's door because the on-coming traffic would hit my driver's door, I needed to use my passenger door to exit my truck. If was very dangerous because on-coming traffic was doing 65MPG, I had to call tow truck to come and tow my truck away to the Ford dealership. The Ford service dealership inspected my truck and found that the real axle bolt had sheared off and allowed the rear axle to disengage from the differential causing the truck not to move or have control. Ford Motor Company knows this is a safety issue, I have attached a document, Customer Satisfaction Program [XXX] that proves Ford has had this issue in the past couple of years and seems to think it's still not an issue, Ford will only warranty the repair for the one side that failed. In the document I have attached it clearly states that both axles and both bolts need to be replaced. Ford told me that my vin # is not included in the customer satisfaction program so they will not replace the other axel and bolt. This is a major safety issue for me and the public allowing my vehicle to be on the road the way it is at this point in time. The other bolt could shear off and cause my vehicle to run off the road or cause an accident because of not have control of my vehicle. Auxiliary transmission pump failure code - P0C2A. Accompanied by a very hard slam and lurch forward after a complete stop. Lurch and slam coward is very abrupt and when it first happened I believed it was a rear end collision.
An axle bolt on the drivers side rear axle has sheared off rendering the truck unsafe to drive.
Passenger side rear axle bolt, that holds the axle shaft in place, sheared off, which could allow the axle shaft to move inside the axle housing. I'm learning that this is EXTREMELY common on 2021-2023 9.75" 3:73 MAX TOW axle.
Axle bolt holding the rear wheel assembly onto the axle have broken and the bolt head was rattling around loose inside the wheel.
Rear axel bolt broke, splines on axel stripped off. Truck lost ability to drive while on the highway , creating a dangerous situation. Now truck is at the dealer waiting on parts keeping me from doing my job and causing further financial hardship. For a known issue Ford should have a recall.
Rear axle retaining bolt sheered off. Issue was discovered during routine tire rotation at dealership 9/29/23. I will not have parts available as dealership keeps old parts. There were no warning indications of this issue. This is a known issue listed as Ford CSP 22B34 which instructs dealers to replace parts on both sides of the vehicle. Dealer indicates my VIN is not included in that CSP. Because I'm not in CSP the dealer is replacing affected side under warranty, but won't touch the other side. A failed bolt will cause major failure of the axle assembly during a turn potentially causing loss of control of the vehicle. Ford knows both sides need to be replaced, but I have no recourse but to wait for a second failure. Please help.
I have a hybrid powertrain. When the vehicle is in normal mode (hybrid mode - engine off) and I am at a stop after about 3-5 seconds sometimes the vehicle will feel like it is going to move forward even though I have my foot on the brake. When this happens the vehicle will jerk or feel like it was hit from behind. The event is very jarring and scary as you think the vehicle is going to move forward even though you have your foot on the brake.
Axle bolt connecting the rear passenger side wheel to the axle completely sheared off. Wheel starting making a terrible sound while driving and upon inspection found the sheared axle bolt.
Max Tow Package option. Rear Axle Bolt failure (broken bolt ). Torque to yield bolt design is apparently a defect they are not able to solve. This is common event as seen on forums. Ford bulletin did not list my build date but my right side axle bolt has now snapped. Ford is mishandling this issue, customers are having repeat failures. Ineffective solutions seem to be being offered.
When getting on the road from a cold start coming out of a parking lot the vehicle will not accelerate. You mash the pedal down and it just sits there barely moving for 1 or 2 seconds and then all of a sudden it takes off. I have had the truck which I bought new for 3 months and it has happened 3 times randomly over those 3 months. Twice in very busy traffic which nearly caused an accident. If you can imagine pulling out in front of someone expecting to merge into traffic and then your vehicle just sets there barely moving. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer yet but plan too. There are not other symptoms and no warning lights.
Axel bolt sheared off of passenger rear axel.
Vehicle has major shifting issues with the 10 speed transmission. Shifting down or up can cause violent shifts. Extremely scary on the highway when passing semi trucks as it slams into gear. Vehicle will then show vehicle needs maintenance with a Powertrain issue. When turning the vehicle off it goes away but will return when driving above 55mph. Then the service light may or may not come back on. Dealer told me that the vehicle needs to learn driving behavior and will go away. I dropped vehicle off today and told them it was unsafe to drive on highways as it could cause a crash.
On multiple occasions, the vehicle has exhibited, what I would call, a loss of acceleration. I first noticed this during a right-hand turn from a stop. I took my foot off the brake, initiated the turn and applied the throttle, and the vehicle took 1-2 seconds before it started to accelerate. The vehicle was in "Normal" drive mode. Currently, this issue is occurring during right and left-hand turns, and straight-line acceleration. For example, I was approaching a red light, so I lifted off the accelerator and started to coast. Before I applied the brake, the light turned green, so I went back to the accelerator, but the vehicle did not increase speed for 1-2 seconds. It suddenly lunged forward, and I had to lift off the accelerator so I could decrease my speed. There are occasions when you need to be quick, like merging onto a freeway, and this lack of responsiveness could lead to an accident. The vehicle has been to the dealer for known transmission issues and the dealer performed a reset on the adaptive tables. The issue I am writing about occurred before and after the adaptive table reset. No warning lamps or messages were displayed during the issue.
I was driving down the road when I noticed a squealing sound coming from the right rear end. Luckily, I made it home to remove the right rear tire and noticed that the axle bolt sheared off inside the axle. I checked a few different forms and this is a common occurrence with the max tow package.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F150. The contact stated that she took her vehicle to the dealer to be serviced and the dealer informed the contact that the passenger’s side rear axle bolt had detached. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V128000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 16,500.

Rear axle retaining bolt failure
Right rear axle bolt sheared. See https://www.f150forum.com/f129/2021-powerboost-rear-rotor-axle-bolt-sheared-515460
Rear axle bolt sheering off leaving the truck undrivable. Ford states the parts are on back order. Dealership does not have any loaners so I’m without a car for an unknown length of time.
The axle retaining bolts are breaking. Ford is using the same parts to repair, but keeps happening. Being told unsafe to drive while parts are on order.
The right rear axle bolt was found to be broken when the tire was removed for rotation. The bolt appears to have been over torqued at the assembly plant. At the time of the removal of the tire, the bolt head with about 5/8" of threads left and the corresponding washer fell out and hit the floor. This is a new truck built in February of 2022 and I picked up in March of this year. This is the first time this vehicle has been in for service.
a bolt (FoMoCo part# ML3Z19S426A) which secures the rear axle to the wheel hub sheared off. This bolt failure has happened to hundreds (thousands?) of other recent model F-150 owners as detailed in these two message board threads: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/2021-powerboost-rear-rotor-axle-bolt-sheared-515460/ and https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/f150-powerboost-axle-bolt-sheared-off.10392 I don't know if this failure would cause a safety-related failure if ignored. It does seem like a either a poor design, improper manufacturing process, or a bad batch of parts. My local dealer is making repairs as I write this.
Passenger side rear axle retention bolt sheared off. Discovered during routine maintenance / tire rotation. Unknown how safety was at risk -- dealer told me once discovered that the vehicle would be repaired under warranty, and they could do in 24 hours, so no discussion about unsafe to drive as others have reported they were told. No warnings of the sheared bolt having occurred, no noise, no performance change that I could notice. Wear and patina on the bolt would indicate the break was not recent.
I took my 2021 Ford F-150 3.5L Powerboost in for it's 15k mile check up and when the driver side rear tire was removed the Rear Rotor/Axle Bolt Sheared off. Dealer informed me “unsafe” to drive and ordered new axle which is back ordered. - both dealer and ford have said truck is unsafe to drive - this is know problem on 2021 F150 trucks with max tow package with new 3/4 float axles - website with hundreds reporting same problem: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/2021-powerboost-rear-rotor-axle-bolt-sheared-515460/index52/
I took my 2022 f150 powerboost with max tow package to the dealer because of an audible noise coming from the rear passenger side. Ford discovered the axle bolt broke and is floating. Ford said the vehicle is “unsafe to drive” No warning lights. Just a slight squeal noise. If I hadn’t read about other people having this issue my wife would be driving this “unsafe to drive” vehicle right now with our baby.
I was driving about 50 mph traveling from Bethel, NC to Canton, NC and was approaching Canton so I was slowing down. The first traffic light was red so I stopped behind another car. When the light turned green I lightly pressed the accelerator and nothing happened, it was like the engine failed to power up. I looked at the instruments and noticed the transmission was stuck in 8th-gear. Suddenly it rolled down to 1st gear and the vehicle literally leaped across the intersection. Fortunately the car in front had moved out normally or the "leap" would have climbed his back. I have read of other Ford trucks with this 10-speed transmission sticking in 8th-gear when stopping. The hesitation starting into the intersection is dangerous and the sudden leap forward is very dangerous.
I bought this F150 2 days ago, Vehicle drove fine in the morning to work after work I started the truck and could not get it to go into any gear the lever was stuck in park. My model has the fold flat shifter and I keep the shifter folded all the way down when It is parked. It took approximately 30 minutes of turning the truck on and off, opening the door after each power cycle and folding the shifter up and down before finally it would switch into gear.
This vehicle has a Powerboost Engine which is a Hybrid with a High-Voltage Battery Pack. This Battery Pack has a very sophisticated heating and cooling system which is part of the engine cooling system. A part of this cooling system is an Exhaust Heat Exchanger. It is Ford Part Number: ML3Z5A212W. This part is frequently failing causing a loss of coolant. This failure could cause engine failure and/or High Voltage Battery Pack failure.
1. Transmission. Stays in higher gears at stops. When starting out it barely moves in response to gas pedal increase. At about 3,000 RPMs it engages and jerks violently ahead. After this happened several times I noticed the transmission gear light was in a higher gear at stop, like 7th gear. Therefore the motor had to rev up to 7th gear speed before it would move adequately. Has to be hard on the transmission when this happens, also embarrassing and very dangerous should you have to cross a busy roadway quickly. It also downshifts suddenly all the way from a high gear to 1st when slowing for an intersection at about 30 MPH. This produces a severe jerk, like slamming on the brakes and a very loud clunk. These conditions occur randomly but when they do occur, they often happen several times in a row then might not happen for a week. There are 1585 miles on the truck. The dealer has had it for 4 days, verdict nothing wrong! The problem described by me and the listed customers does not throw a code. Why do they need one or have it duplicate the problem when they drive it. That could take forever, meanwhile the poor customer has an unsafe truck with no confidence to use it. I am filing a complaint higher up in Ford and to the official National Highway Traffic Safety site. If this continues I will consider a Lemon Law suit and buy another Chevy.
