TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1992 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE, IT COULD NOT BE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,256. UPDATED 04/19/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE APPLIED THE FOOT PEDAL PARKING BRAKE, IT WOULD SKIP SOME TEETH AND GO FREE WHEEL. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL PUMP VALVE MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING FUEL SPILLAGE. ALSO, THE PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 93V125000 AND 94V169001, REGARDING THE STORAGE TANK ASSEMBLY AND PARKING BRAKE. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALLS; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION.

A YEAR AGO PARKING BRAKE RELEASED, AND CONSUMER WAS RUN OVER BY OWN TRUCK. *AK
WHEN CONSUMER PUTS EMERGENCY BRAKE UP CABLE DOESN'T HOLD AT ALL. *AK
THE PARKING BRAKE EQULIZER IS A C CHANNEL THAT CONNECTS THE CABLE FROM THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY TO THE TWO CABLES GOING TO THE REAR WHEELS. I HAVE HAD TWO EQULIZERS FAIL. THE FIRST ONE AT38000 MILES. THE SECOND AT 125000 MILES OR ABOUT 80000 MILES LATER. IN BOTH CASES THE EQULIZER BROKE WHERE THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY ATTACHES TO THE EQULIZER. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE APPLIED AND THE TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE. THE TRUCK HAS A STANDARD TRANSMISSION. THE NEXT MORNING I FOUND THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL WOULDN'T MOVE WHEN RELEASED. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK. THE BRAKE CABLE WAS LOOSE AND LAYING ON THE GROUND.THE ONLY THING KEEPING MY TRUCK FROM ROLLING DOWN MY DRIVE WAS THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH TIMES THE EQULIZER FAILED UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. I THINK THE EQULIZER SHOULD BE MADE FROM HEAVIER STEEL TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. *AK
THIS PART CONNECTS THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TO THE TWO CABLES THAT GO TO THE REAR WHEELS. THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED AND THEN THE PART FAILED LEAVING THE TRUCK FREE TO ROLL. THIS IS THE SECOND EQULIZER I HAVE HAD. THE FIRST ONE FAILED IN THE SAME PLACE AND THE SAME WAY. I DON'T THINK IT IS MADE OUT OF HEAVY ENOUGH STEEL. *AK
