The contact owns a 1993 Ford F-150. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V017000 (Vehicle Speed Control); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while replacing the brake master cylinder, the contact noticed that there was brake fluid leaking onto a connector. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and contacted the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

EXPERIENCING MULTIPLE BRAKING PROBLEMS INCLUDING PULLS TO RIGHT WHILE BRAKING, PULLS TO RIGHT WHEN BRAKING WITH TRAILER TOWED, CLUNKING WHEN BRAKING TO RELEASE CRUISE, BRAKE SQUEALING / PULSATION. DRUMS HAVE BEEN TURNED, ROTOR WERE MACHINED, AND REAR PADS AND SHOES WERE REPLACED.*TT
I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS TRUCK FOR THE FIRST 5 YEARS. BUT AFTER THAT EVEN WITH TAKING GREAT CARE OF THE TRUCK IT STARTED TO FAIL THE ALTENATOR....$400,REPLACING 2 EXHAUST TUBES FOR EMISSIONS $450,REAR SPRING SHACKELS AND MOUNT $450, THE TRANS MISSION IS NOW FAILING COST NOT KNOWN YET, NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BUT DOORS DON'T LINE UP ANYMORE WATER LEAKS IN,LOWER SHEETMETAL OF TRUCK BED RUSTING THROUGH PAINT EVEN WITH BEING WAXED MANY MANY TIMES,VENT WINDOWS LEAK AND ARE RUSTING, I KNOW VEHICELS NEED ALOT OF CARE BUT I THINK THE WORST PROBLEM WAS THE RUSTING OUT OF THE REAR SPRING MOUNTS AND SHACKELS THIS IS A REAL DANGER ,I HAVE NEVER HEARED OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANY VEHICLE. WAS DRIVING 35-40MPH DOWNHILL WHEN A DEER STEPPED OUT ON ROAD, CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES, AND THEY FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE. PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. HAD DOWNSHIFTED, AND ALSO USED EMERGENCY BRAKES. WENT THROUGH STOP SIGNS. FINALLY ,VEHICLE STOPPED. CHECKED VEHICLE OUT, AND NOTICED BRAKE LINE JUNCTION HAD CORRODED AND WAS RUSTY, AND BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT. *AK *JB

WHEN DRIVING UNDER WET CONDTIONS REAR BRAKES GRABBED, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIDE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK *ML
FIRE DEPT THINKS THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER BROKE, SPILLING FLUID ON TO THE HOT ENGINE, CAUSING THE TRUCK TO CATCH ON FIRE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT A MILE AND ABOUT TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WILL GO TO THE RIGHT AND HAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE , WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ALSO, DEALER REPLACED CALIPERS/ROTORS, ETC. BEEN TO DEALER 7 TIMES. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT A MILE AND ABOUT TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WILL GO TO THE RIGHT AND HAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE , WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ALSO, DEALER REPLACED CALIPERS/ROTORS, ETC. BEEN TO DEALER 7 TIMES. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AND OPENED THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND EVENTUALLY FADED AND FAILED. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BY PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL (ENGINE RACED) AND SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. HUSBAND RESTARTED ENGINE ABOUT 1/2 HOUR LATER, THE ENGINE DID NOT RACE. HUSBAND LIMPED THE TRUCK HOME AND ON THE WAY WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION ONLY ONCE. CONFIRMED IT WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL,SINCE THE PEDAL PULLED AWAY FROM HUSBAND'S FOOT. NOTE: THE BRAKES DID NOT SHUT DOWN THE CRUISE CIRCUT EITHER BY THE PRIMARY SHUT OFF (BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH) OR THE SECONDARY BACKUP SHUT OFF (BRAKE LINE PRESSURE SWITCH). HIGHWAY PATROL STOPPED TO OFFER ASSISTANCE WHICH WAS DECLINED AFTER HUSBAND ARRIVED. VEHICLE PARKED IN PARKING LOT. GOT IN & STARTED TO LEAVE PARKING LOT. HAD APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW UP & HAD NO BRAKES. TURNED OFF VEHICLE & WAITED AWHILE. THEN RESTARTED VEHICLE & HAD BRAKES. TOOK TO DEALER & MECHANIC SAID NOTHING WRONG. HAPPENED AGAIN ON HIGHWAY. REPEATED TURNING OFF/ON & THEN BRAKES. BACK TO MECHANIC & TEST DRIVEN, STILL NOTHING FOUND. *AK

REAR ABS BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING PREMATURE FAILURE OF PADS AND ROTORS.

BRAKE ROTORS WARP AND WEAR THE PADS OUT.
THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED THROUGH RUBBER HOSE AND DRIPPED DOWN ON FLOOR. BOTH BRAKE HOSES HAS BEEN REPLACED BECAUSE OF LEAKAGE. ONE IN NOVEMBER OF 96, AND THE OTHER IN JANUARY OF 97 AT 36,000 MILES. *AK

CALIPER ON FRONT WHEEL DISK BRAKE FAILED TO RELEASE.
