while in drive, accelerating to highway speeds or cruising around 30 mph it will downshift and jump to about 4000 PMS's and not shift up into 3rd gear. It blown 1 engine and I have replaced the transmissions, taken it to a Ford dealership and they weren't able to help me. I've replaced the ECM and anti-theft modal also and the symptoms still persist. i am i in for over 11K for the new engine and transmission, and another $100 on the ECM and anti-theft modal plus the shop charges. The truck has under 190,000 miles before any of this started. I am the 2nd owner an had for less than 3k miles before any of the problems started. Now I see the 2015-2017 F-150s are having the same problems getting recalled. is there anything involving the earlier Triton's engines?

The shift cable for the automatic transmission was routed next to the exhaust manifold on the engine. The shift cable gets hot and burns into from the heat off the exhaust manifold. I purchased the 2006 Ford F150 used. I had mechanic replace one shift cable with a new shift cable. The new shift cable burned into has I was backing in my driveway. I did research on the internet for trucks in that year range and it included other trucks 2007 and 2008 F150 having the same issue. You can find a ton of utube videos . ShowIng mechanics finding solutions to prevent the shift cables from burning into. I contacted Ford motor company about it. Ford wanted me to take the truck to a dealership and let them diagnosed the problem. The dealership wanted me to pay them a 150 dollars to look at it. I was not going to pay them for something that I already knew the answer too. So it is a manufacturing flaw with the way Ford put the shift cable on 2006 F150 and other F150's in that year range. MY 2006 FORD F 150 HAS 125,000 MILES. I WENT TO PUT MY TRUCK IN REVERSE TO BACK UP OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND IT MADE A NOISE. APPARENTLY REVERS BAND IN THE TRANSMISSION WENT. I NO LONGER CAN PUT MY VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO BACK UP. VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND IT BROKE FOR NO REASON.

FORD'S IWE SOLENOID HAS A TENDENCY TO MALFUNCTION DUE TO A POOR DESIGN. TSB 06-8-15 WAS ISSUED TO REPLACE THESE SOLENOIDS, BUT ONLY IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND ONLY IF IT WAS GIVING A PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS IN STORAGE FOR 5 YEARS AND AFTER IT WAS BROUGHT OUT AND TO NY, THE WATER LEAKED ON THE SOLENOID DUE TO THE INADEQUATE DESIGN, CAUSING THE IWE'S TO MALFUNCTION. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT EXACTLY IT DID BUT DRIVING THE CAR DOWN THE ROAD, IT CAUSED ME TO FEEL LIKE I WAS DRIVING OVER SMALL SPEED BUMPS WITH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE. TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE OUTER SHEATH WAS MELTED ON EXHAUST SYSTEM. CABLE HAD UNKNOWINGLY COME LOOSE OF A RETAINING CLIP AND WAS THEN ALLOWED TO CONTACT HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD. MELTED THE OUTER PLASTIC OF SHIFT CABLE CAUSING THE SHIFT SELECTOR TO BECOME INOPERABLE. SHIFT SELECTOR COULD BE PLACED IN PARK BUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT BE IN PARK; IF I HAD NOT REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM I COULD HAVE BELIEVED THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK WHEN IT WAS NOT AND THE TRUCK COULD HAVE ROLLED FREELY. I PURCHASED A FORD F-150 IN 2006. I AM AT MY 100,000 MAINTENANCE AND THE SPARK PLUGS HAVE TO BE CHANGED. I SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE FORD REPAIR SHOP WHO TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BRING MY TRUCK IN 24 HOURS EARLY TO SOAK THE PLUGS BECAUSE THEY WILL BREAK IN THE MOTOR AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THEM REMOVED. I FOLLOWED THERE INSTRUCTIONS ON MONDAY MORNING AND TOOK THE TRUCK TO THEM. THEY CALLED AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF MY MOTOR TO REMOVE THE PLUGS AT A CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE TO ME. IT DOES NOT SEEM FAIR TO ME THAT IF FORD MECHANICS PUT FORD PLUGS INTO THERE FORD TRUCKS AND WHEN THERE FORD MECHANICS TRY TO REMOVE THE FORD PLUGS FROM THE FORD VEHICLE THEY BREAK AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. *TR

THE INTEGRATED WHEEL END SOLENOID IS PRONE TO WATER FROM THE COWL DRAINING ONTO IT, THUS SHORTING OUT AND ALLOWING THE 4X4 VACUUM SYSTEM TO LOSE VACUUM. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE TRUCK'S FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM ENGAGES UNEXPECTEDLY AND CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL HUBS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, HE HEARD A LOUD SCRAPING NOISE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, HE EXPERIENCED UNWARRANTED FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGEMENT, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IWE SOLENOID AND THE ACTUATOR. SEVERAL DAYS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RESURFACED AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNSUCCESSFUL IN LOCATING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,387.

I DRIVE A 2006 FORD F150. IN JULY 2007 I STARTED HEARING A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM MY FRONT WHEELS. I BROUGHT IT TO HOLMAN FORD IN TURNERSVILLE NEW JERSEY. THEY REPLACED AUTO 4WD VACUUM SOLENOID. NOW 15 MONTHS LATER THE NOISE IS BACK AND THEY SAID THEIR PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY IS ONLY GOOD FOR 12 MONTHS. I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD A FRIEND WITH THE SAME VEHICLE WHICH WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ENGINE. 2006 F150 FX 4 -4X4 SUPER CAB 5.4 L. I TRADED THE EXACT SAME TRUCK IN AN 04 MODEL YEAR FOR THIS 2006. FORD HAS REFUSED TO FIX ( FOR 3 MODEL YEARS ) : DRIVE TRAIN VIBRATION, DRIVE TRAIN HOWL/WHINE. THE 04 WAS IN THE SHOP 6 TIMES WITH NO FIX. MY 06 IN THE DEALERSHIP NOW. I HAVEN'T MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT OR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. PROBLEMS NOT PRESENT ON TEST DRIVE. STARTED AT 500 MILES. OTHER PROBLEMS INCLUDE : BRAKE PEDAL IS MUSH. IT NEVER FIRMS UP. IT WILL GO TO THE FLOOR. DOORS WONT SHUT WITHOUT SLAMMING. SUPER CAB DOORS WONT SHUT TIGHT WITHOUT PUSHING TOP IN.
