The local dealer was contacted; however, the dealer refused to diagnose the vehicle because of its age of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while the contact's husband was driving at a slow speed, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to stop and continued rolling forward. The contact's husband stated that the vehicle came to a stop once the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

Random brake loss due to hydraulic control unit for ABS. The loss of brakes on more than 5 occasions has nearly caused several accidents as brakes fail to engage in traffic situations. The problem cannot be reproduced by automotive repair shops due to the random nature of the events. Inspection of the component does not reveal any problem. The component functions properly 80% of the time. There has never been any warning of any sort prior to the event happening which is why the severity of the incidents are not only surprising but have put me and other drivers at risk. These HCU components have had similar failures in other ford vehicles. Recalls are listed for those vehicles such as the MZk, Fusion, Millan.

SHE CALLED THE DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE REPAIR WORK PERFORMED AT THE MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
I OWN A 2006 FORD F150 TRUCK WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT. OVER THE PAST MONTH OR SO IT HAS DEVELOPED A SEVERE BRAKING ISSUE WHICH WHEN UNDER MODERATE TO HEAVY BRAKING CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER SEVERELY AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. IT OCCURS EVERTIME YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER F150 OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME VEHICLE AND THE 2007 MODEL ALSO. THE BRAKE PADS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, HOWEVER THE BREAK ROTORS HAVE A VERY UNUSUAL SCRATCH PATTERNS RUNNING FROM THE CENTER OF THE BRAKE ROTOR SURFACE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE SURFACE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS ON A VEHICLE BEFORE. I DO KNOW THAT ONE FELLOW HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 OF HIS BRAKE ROTORS ON A 2007 MODEL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, NOT NORMAL IF YOU ASK ME. I HAVE SEEN THIS SAME COMPLAINT ON OTHER CONSUMER WEB SITES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. HIS INSURANCE COMPANY WAS THREATENING ME TO RELEASE THE TRUCK FROM STORAGE WHICH I DID. I HAVE SINCE REGAINED MY SENSES ENOUGH TO SEARCH THE WEB AND SEE THAT THERE WERE MANY RECALLS ON THE BRAKE LINES OF THIS MAKE TRUCK. *TR
WE HAVE A CORRODED ABS BRAKE WIRE ON OUR 2006 FORD F150 TRUCK. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO CORROSION. I CALLED FORD ESP AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING (DOES NOT STATE THIS IN COVERAGES). WHEN I ASKED ABOUT ANY COVERED PART NOT BEING COVERED IF IT HAS ANY CORROSION ON IT, I WAS TOLD IT DOES NOT COVER CORROSION. VIBRATION CONTINUED. ORDERED NEW PERFORMANCE ROTORS AND PADS. UPON INSTALLATION OF THESE ITEMS I INSPECTED CALIPERS AND FOUND CRACKS AND CHIPS IN CYLINDER PLUNGERS WHICH CONNECT TO PUSH THE PADS. I WOULD SAY THIS CAME FROM CONSTANT VIBRATION OF THE FRONT BRAKES WHICH FORD DID NOT FIX FOR EIGHT MONTHS. THE CENTER PLUNGER OF THESE CALIPER PISTONS ARE MADE OF A FIBER BOARD WHICH WILL NOT STAND UP TO VIBRATION, FIBER BOARD IS A VERY HARD AND BRITTLE MATERIAL WHICH IS GOOD FOR HEAT AND WEAR BUT NOT VIBRATION. CALIBERS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. OF COURSE AT MY EXPENSE. TRUCK IS UNDRIVEABLE AND THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND DEATH IF BREAKDOWN OF THIS FIBER BOARD TYPE MATERIAL SHOULD FAIL WITHOUT NOTICE. AFTER DRIVING TRUCK OFF NOTICED BRAKE PEDAL WAS SLIGHTLY SOFTER BUT NO LONGER FELT VIBRATION/SHUDDERING. AT APPROXIMATELY 9,000MI ONCE GAIN FELT SLIGHT SHUDDER/VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP WITH APPROXIMATELY 13,000MI AND WAS TOLD ROTORS WERE ONCE AGAIN WARPED. I HAD CERAMIC BRAKES INSTALLED @ APPROXIMATELY 24,000MI AND NEW ROTORS INSTALLED @ APPROXIMATELY 30800MI. WITH THE ROTORS INSTALLED SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION STILL OCCURS WHEN BRAKING AT ANY SPEED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. ON NOVEMBER 19, 2008, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO FORD RECALL NUMBER 08S05B (BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM HOSE REPLACEMENT). WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE ROAD PAVEMENT WAS DRY. THE CONTACT AND THE OTHER PASSENGER IN HIS VEHICLE WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR BACK INJURIES AND BRUISES. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO EMIT A RED, GREASY SUBSTANCE ON THE WHEEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT WANT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL THE BRAKES OPERATED IN THAT MANNER, BUT THE CONTACT DISAGREED BY STATING THAT THE REAR BRAKES DID NOT. THE DEALER FINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE IN; HOWEVER, THEY ONLY WASHED OFF THE GREASE. THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK THE CONTACT'S INFORMATION, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. MOST RECENTLY, SHE HEARD A NOISE FROM THE BRAKES WHEN DRIVING IN REVERSE AND BRAKING. THE NOISE WAS DESCRIBED AS A CRACKING SOUND. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD THAT THERE IS A BRAKE VACUUM PROBLEM THAT IS DANGEROUS AND MAY CAUSE TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. I CURRENTLY DRIVE A 2006 FORD F-150 WHICH I LEASED NEW IN MARCH OF 2006. SINCE DAY ONE I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE BRAKES ON THE TRUCK. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES BELOW THE GAS PEDAL WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. MY WIFE CANNOT DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE SHE CONSTANTLY HIT THE BRAKE AND GAS AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE CHECKED WITH OTHER OWNERS AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME THAT THIS IS NORMAL WITH THE NEW FORD TRUCKS. THIS INVOLVES A 2006 FORD F-150 4X4 SUPERCREW PICKUP WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND ADJUSTABLE PEDALS. ON AT LEAST 7 OCCASIONS I OR MY UNCLE HAVE EXPERIENCED INCIDENTS OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITH THIS PICKUP. ALL CASES OCCURRED WHEN MANEUVERING THE PICKUP AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS PARKING OR BACKING THE PICKUP UP. THESE UNINTENDED ACCELERATIONS ARE CAUSED BY THE FOOT, WHILE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE GAP BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS TOO CLOSE, CAUSING A FOOT THAT IS ON THE EDGE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN BRAKING. THIS RESULTS IN THE ENGINE REVVING UP AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD APPROXIMATELY 8 TO 12 FEET, UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. MY UNCLE AND MYSELF HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PHENOMENON ON MY UNCLES 2004 FORD F-150, WHICH I REPORTED TO THE NHSTA. *JB

ON 15 JUNE 2006, MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT WHILE OPERATING A 2006 FORD F150. A VEHICLE STOPPED IN FRONT OF HER SHE PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPONDED TO HER BRAKING ACTION. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT, I PRESSED THE BRAKES AND THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WOODY ANDERSEN FORD IN HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA AND THE SERVICE MANAGER VERIFIED THAT THE BRAKES INDEED WENT TO THE FLOOR. WE WAITED A WEEK FOR A FORD ENGINEER TO VERIFY THE PROBLEMS AND HE STATED THAT WHEN HE DROVE THE VEHICLE IT WAS OKAY AT THAT TIME. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A THREE FOOT DITCH AND HAD TO BE PULLED OUT. IT SUSTAINED FRONTAL DAMAGE AND THE TOW BAR WAS BENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY REPLACED THE TOW HOOK, FRONT LICENSE PLATE BRACKET AND BALANCED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL #06C11, CONCERNING THE HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRICAL BRAKE SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.

THE 04 WAS IN THE SHOP 6 TIMES WITH NO FIX. MY 06 IN THE DEALERSHIP NOW. I HAVEN'T MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT OR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. PROBLEMS NOT PRESENT ON TEST DRIVE. STARTED AT 500 MILES. OTHER PROBLEMS INCLUDE : BRAKE PEDAL IS MUSH. IT NEVER FIRMS UP. IT WILL GO TO THE FLOOR. DOORS WONT SHUT WITHOUT SLAMMING. SUPER CAB DOORS WONT SHUT TIGHT WITHOUT PUSHING TOP IN.
