The contact owned a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when depressing the accelerator pedal while in reverse, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, crossing a field, and crashing into a nearby building, where the vehicle came to a stop. The contact sustained neck injuries, and the front passenger sustained neck injuries as well. The contact did not seek medical attention; however, they intended to do so in the future. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The rear end of the vehicle was damaged. The vehicle was driven home. The vehicle was taken to Collision Center who diagnosed that the rear of the vehicle needed extensive bodywork and determined the vehicle was totaled. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300,000. The VIN was not available.

The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the spark plugs, and torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Transmission and rear end jerking when putting in or taking out of park, reverse or drive and now doesn't want to go forward when putting it in drive and I can't get it to shift out and transmission fault light came on and I re set it by taking black cable off battery and put transmission fluid in it and it still does it and also headlights doesn't work on bright and power steering pump makes noise and it's full of fluid I don't know if it is leaking or what small stuff I can deal with but major transmission and engine stuff on truck I can't.

EVERY VEHICLE THAT FORD PUT OUT WITH A CAM PHASER IS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE CAN PHASER. ANY SAE CERTIFIED MECHANIC WILL VERIFY THIS. THIS IS A HORRIBLE DESIGN. WHY HASN'T FORD STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE AND FIXED THIS ISSUE? I BELIEVE THEY ARE TRYING TO BURY IT SO THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO INCUR THE COST OF FIXING THEIR MISTAKE. DUE TO THIS ISSUE I'VE BEEN STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK LOOSES POWER, WON'T GO INTO GEAR....ETC....THIS HAPPENS AFTER THE CAN PHASER HAS ACTIVATED AND THEN I COME TO A STOP. THEN IT'S MISFIRING STALLING NOT GOING INTO GEAR...YOU NAME IT IT'S AN ISSUE. A COMPUTE READ ON THE OBD2 STAYED THAT I HAD MISSES IN IGNITION COILS 1,3 AND 7 REPLACED THEM THEN THE TEACHING STAYED MISFIRED IS 2,4 AND 5 REPLACED THEM AND ALL THE SAME ISSUES... EVERY MECHANIC I'VE SPOKEN TO SAYS ABSOLUTEY THE PHASES AND THAT THEY HAVE TO PUT A CAM PHASER DELETE KIT IN THESE VEHICLES DO GET RID OF THESE PROBLEMS. THE SPARK PLUGS AN INJECTORS WERE REPLACED, AND AN OIL PRESSURE TEST WAS PROVIDED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE MISFIRED AND WAS DIAGNOSED BY MCLARTY FORD (3232 SUMMERHILL RD, TEXARKANA, TX 75503, (903) 792-7121). THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND THE STARTER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL, BUT ISSUED EIGHT TSBS FOR THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I GAVE THE TRUCK SOME GAS AND IT STARTED MAKING NOISE AND ACTED AS IF SOMETHING WAS ABOUT READY TO FLY APART AND SEVERLY VIBRATING. I HAD TO STOP AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE WITH CARS BEHIND ME SWERVING TO GET AROUND ME. I HAD TO CALL A TOW SERVICE TO GET MY TRUCK HOME, AFTER INSPECTION OF THE DRIVESHAFT I FOUND THAT THE CARRIER BEARING HAD SLIP OUT OF IT'S HOUSING AND THE DRIVESHAFT WAS BOUNCING AROUND IN THE BEARING BRACKET. I COULD NOT LOCATE A CARRIER BEARING ANYWHERE SO I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO BUY AND REPLACE THE ENTIRE DRIVESHAFT. I DID SOME SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. IF YOU INSPECT THE DRIVESHAFTS NOW BEING SOLD FOR REPLACEMENTS YOU WILL FIND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN DESIGN CHANGES MADE BUT FORD WON'T ADMIT THAT THEY HAD A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE ORIGINAL DRIVESHAFT. BY THE WAY, MY 2007 F150 ONLY HAS 32000 MILES ON IT, IT'S NOT A WEAR ISSUE.

FORD 150 PICK UP TRUCK REGULARLY MAINTAINED WITH 70,836 MILES WAS TRAVEL ON CITY STREETS AT SPEED LIMITS WHEN A "POPPING" SOUND WAS HEARD AND TRUCK WOULD NOT TRAVEL OVER 25MPH. NO CABIN LIGHTS, NO INDICATION OF PROBLEM. IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO AUTOMOTIVE CENTER, FOUND NO ERROR OR TROUBLE CODES ON DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT AND ALL FLUID LEVELS WERE FULL AND CLEAN. AUTOMOTIVE CENTER DISCOVERED FAILED TRANSMISSION WITH PIECES OF METAL IN TRANSMISSION COOLER AND LINES DURING TRANSMISSION FLUSH USING FACTORY RECOMMENDED SOLUTION. FACTORY DEFECT OF TRANSMISSION, ENGINEERING DEFECT FOR LACK OF CABIN WARNING LIGHTS AND MAINTENANCE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT.

THE FAILURES STEM FROM BAD OIL FLOW TO THE TOP END OF THE ENGINE DUE TO A FLAW IN DESIGN. SPECIFICALLY MY CAMSHAFT, CAM PHASER, TIMING COMPONENTS AND LIFTERS ROLLERS HAVE FAILED. THE PROBLEM FIRST SHOWED UP AT 42256 MILES AND HAS SINCE RESURFACED TWICE EVEN AFTER EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THE WORRISOME PART IS THAT THE WEB IS FILLED WITH THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ENGINE WHICH IS ALSO IN EXPEDITIONS AND CROWN VICTORIAS AND PROBABLY OTHER FORD VEHICLES.

BOUGHT THE T07 F150 AT 28K AND AT 61K THIS HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW GEAR 2ND THE ENGING CHUGGED A LITTLE ( LKE AN OLD DIESAL) TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE SMALL OIL SEAL BEHIND THE CAM. THEY WAS GOING TO CHARGE BE 5600 FOR A NEW ENGINE. THEY TRIED LIKE HE11 TO GET ME TO SAY I DIDNT HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. I NEVER BACKED DOWN, THEN REMINDED THEM THAT I HAD BOUGHT THE $2700.00 EXTENDED WARRENTY (WHICH I USUALLY NEVER DID) THEY BAUKED AND CRIED. BUY SAID THAT THEY WOULD FIND ANOTHER USED ENGINE, THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THEY FOUND ONE FOR 3500 (OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT) I BEGAN A LONG SEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND A REBUILD FOR LESS AND GAVE THEM THE INFORMATION. THEY DECIDED TO GO WITH THAT. THEY ORDERED THE ENGINE AND INSTALLED IT ( WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW THE REPLACEMENT HAD THE SAME PROB) THEY HAD TO PULL THAT ENGINE AND GET ANOTHER FROM THE COMPANY . TOOK AN EXTRA WEEK AND GOT THE TRUCK BACK ITS NOW AT 100K AND STILL RUNS WELL (SO I KNOW IT WASNT MY DRIVING) SO IT HAD TO BE THE INCORRECT PLACEMENT OF THAT SEAL FROM THE DEALER, WHICH WOULD LEAKED HOT OIL ONTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSE A FIRE. I LOOKED AT THE ORIGIONAL PAPER WORK THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE TH ORIGIONAL WIRING HARNESS BEFORE IT EVEN LEFT THE FACTORY.

THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO DRIVE NORMALLY BUT THE WARNING INDICATORS KEPT GOING ON. THERE WERE NO CODES WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP ALTHOUGH THE SHOP SAID THEY HAVE A RETAINING CLIP THAT WEARS OUT AND CAUSES ALL THE PARTS TO SHIFT. THIS RESULTED IN HAVING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. MANY OTHER F 150 OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. GEAR SLIPPED OUT OF PARK AS I WAS EXITING VEHICLE. I HAD NOT YET CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO MOVE DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS CAUGHT BY THE DOOR AND DRAGGED ALONG UNTIL THE DOOR THREW ME TO THE GROUND, INJURING MY BACK. THE TRUCK CAME TO REST ON BOTH OF MY LEGS. WAS TOLD CORROSION IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE LINES ON F150. I HAVE A 2007 F150 SUPERCREW CAB TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A PARKING LOT WHEN THE TRUCK MADE A HUGE GRINDING SOUND FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN RECEIVED A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT. THE TRUCK SLAMMED INTO A STOP CAUSING DRIVER AND PASSENGER TO BE TOSSED FORWARD. I HAVE READ ONLINE OF SEVERAL OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE 2007 F150 TRANSMISSIONS. FORD CLAIMS NO DEFECTS ON THIS MODEL YEAR. YET ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE SEVERAL FORD OWNERS WITH SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH TRUCK. ONE DID NOT BREAK COMPLETELY OFF (#4) AND I NEEDED TO BORROW A PROTOTYPE TOOL FROM LISLE TOOL CORP. REMOVED AND REPLACED PLUGS FOLLOWING FORD PROCEDURES. TRUCK STILL HAD A MISS. REPLACED ALL EIGHT COIL PACKS WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM. TOTAL COST$380.00. TRUCK DOWN FOR 6 DAYS AWAITING TOOLS AND PARTS. DEVELOPED A VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ORIGINAL TIRES(PIRELLI) WERE SEPARATING. REPLACED TIRES(976.00), MUCH BETTER. STILL HAVE SLIGHT VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEEDS. FOUND LEFT FRONT HUB BEARING SEEPING GREASE AND FEELS STIFF. AWAITING PARTS TO DO REPAIRS. (98.00) HAD A TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AT LIGHT LOAD IN OVERDRIVE. FLUSHED TRANSMISSION WITH BG PRODUCTS AND FLUSH MACHINE. ADDED NEW TRANS FLUID AND CONDITIONER. TRANSMISSION NOW SHUDDERS AT ALL SPEEDS WHEN HOT. WILL ORDER NEW FILTER AND REPLACE. WILL ADD FRICTION MODIFIER AND TRY AGAIN. HAVE TO TOW ANOTHER VEHICLE THIS WEEKEND AND AM AFRAID TO DO SO. ON 08/14/13 I WAS AT A BANK IN THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD CA. 94533, THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT IN THE PARKING LOT, WHICH IS A 1 DIRECTION ENTRANCE, MYSELF AND SEVERAL VEHICLES HAD TO BACK OUT OF THE LOT. I EXITED MY VEHICLE AS OTHERS WHO WERE IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE BANK APPROACHED ME AND ASKED IF THAT WAS MY DRIVE SHAFT HANGING DOWN. WHEN I BENT DOWN TO LOOK I NOTICED THAT IT HAD BROKEN AT THE WELD AT THE YOKE OF THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I RETURNED HOME AFTER BEING TOWED, I WENT ON LINE TO SEE OF ANY OTHER SITUATIONS OF DRIVE SHAFTS BRAKING ON FORD TRUCKS, AND I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL, WHICH ONE BROKE AND THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL AND HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH MASSIVE VEHICLE DAMAGE. I HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENTS OF THE ENGINE SURGING/REVVING WHEN IN A STOPPED POSITION ENGAGED IN DRIVE GEAR AND ANOTHER ONE WHILE IN REVERSE. EACH TIME I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET TO TRY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING BUT IT CONTINUED TO LUNGE AHEAD ANYWAY. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY SAID FORD HAD A FAIL-SAFE BUILT IN--THAT I WAS NOT IN DANGER BUT THEY REPROGRAMMED IT WITH A COMPUTER. SEEMED OK FOR AWHILE. LAST NIGHT IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT REVERSE WHILE I WAS BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT. I EVEN HAD SKID MARKS TRYING TO STOP IT THIS TIME. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION PAUSES/COASTS BEFORE ENGAGING INTO THE NEXT GEAR. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE RISKS OF HAVING A COLLISION, DAMAGING PROPERTY, OR HURTING SOMEONE--INCLUDING MYSELF IF I END UP HITTING SOMETHING. PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. I PUSHED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET AS HARD AS I COULD, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. MY COMPANY PURCHASED THREE FORD F-150 4X4 SUPER CREW TRUCKS AT THE SAME TIME AND ONE OF THEM HAD THE LEFT FRONT HUB BEARINGS FAIL AND THE LEFT WHEEL ASSEMBLY CAME LOOSE AND WAS CAUGHT JUST BEFORE A TOTAL FAILURE. THE SECOND TRUCK (THE ONE I DRIVE) NOW HAS A CLICKING NOISE IN THE LEFT FRONT HUB AND CARTHAGE FORD IN MISSOURI HAS ACKNOWLEDGED IT BUT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT AFTER THREE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT OR COMMUNICATE IT TO THE DEALERSHIPS IN FEAR OF FINANCIAL RAMIFICATIONS OF A RECALL. BOTH OF THESE TRUCKS ARE DRIVEN ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS AND HAVE AROUND 100 MILES PER DAY PLACED ON THEM SO I THINK WE ARE AHEAD OF MASSIVE FAILURES WHEN THESE 2007 MODELS GET OVER 50,000 MILES ON THEM. *TR

AFTER READING SIMILAR ISSUES ON MYCARSTATS.COM, I FIGURED I SHOULD ENTER MINE TOO. ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY RACE AT VERY HIGH RPM. MY VEHICLE IS A STANDARD SO I WAS ABLE TO NEGATE ACCELERATION BY DEPRESSING CLUTCH. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN 1 MONTH PERIOD. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY INDICATED THEY WERE GOING TO UPDATE CHIP WITH LATEST UPGRADE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150 KING RANCH. AFTER HAULING A BOAT OUT OF WATER, THE CONSUMER STATED HE MOVED THE ELECTRONIC SWITCH FROM 4L TO 2HI, WHICH WOULD BE THE NORMAL DRIVING POSITION APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED THE CONSOLE SHIFTER TO PARK. THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING. HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS BEGINNING TO MOVE. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, WHICH WAS OPEN, STRUCK HIM FROM BEHIND AND KNOCKED HIM DOWN. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL. THE BOAT TRAILER JACKNIFED TO THE RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE, TRAILER, AND BOAT CRASHED INTO A FENCE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP. HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS BACK, ARM, AND HAND. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 1,540 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,536.
