The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150 equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discovery ATP, Tire Size: 265/70/R17, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that while performing a tire rotation, the contact discovered sidewall bulges and tread separation on both rear tires. The vehicle was taken to the tire retailer, where it was determined that the rear tires were defective and needed to be replaced. The contact replaced both rear tires. The tire manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle failure mileage was 220,000. The VIN was unavailable.

275/65/R18 116T First purchased 4 Cooper Adventurer H/T tires mileage was currently 199201 on May/2020. Only driven for work commute of 25miles. Cooper Adv H/T brand first replacement on front tires only due to one of the tires having bulging on the side wall of the tire, was informed possible defect and then it was changed to being worn out by possible construction/bad roads. 24450 mileage at the time of replacement on Aug/2022. There was a replacement of the second front tire In between the time period and was told by a different manager it was not a defect whom seemed hostile when I mentioned the first manager mentioned the last tire had a possible bulge defect. Paid normally price no discount. Currently now have the same bulging on front driver side wall from those replacements along with a watermark lining on the wall of the tire and mileage now is just around 255120.

HANKOOK DYNAPRO AS P235-70-R17S TIRE WITH APPROXIMATELY 60% WEAR (ACCORDING TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND TIRES REPLACED). DURING NORMAL DRIVING NOTICED ABNORMAL BUMPING THAT APPEARED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH TIRE OR FRONT END. TOOK VEHICLE TO SHOP TO CHECK BALANCE AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT. TECH FOUND THE ABOVE DESCRIBED TIRE HAD SEPARATED AND THE STEEL BELTING WAS PROTRUDING THROUGH THE TREAD AND TOP OF SIDEWALL. TIRE WAS ABOUT TO FAIL. DRIVER CONTACTED HANKOOK AND FORWARDED A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE TIRE TO THE REPRESENTATIVE. HANKOOK AGREED TO A 40% REFUND OF THE AMOUNT THAT FORD PAID (NOT WHAT I PAID) FOR THE TIRE IF I WOULD RETURN THE TIRE OR A PIECE FROM IT CONTAINING THE DOT NUMBER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL AND THEY COULD ONLY PROVIDE A 20 PERCENT DISCOUNT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES HAD A 75,000 MILE WARRANTY AND THE TIRES WERE ONLY AT 45,000 MILES OF USAGE. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. I BOUGHT A USED FORD 2007 F-150 SUPER CREW CAB 4X4. NEW TIRES WERE PUT ON BY THE DEALER. I HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE INCIDENTS OF THE TIRE VALVE STEMS BREAKING AND CAUSING DEFLATION WHILE IN MOVEMENT. AFTER TWO BREAKING I WENT TO THE DEALER AND COMPLAINED. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO REASON OR COMPLAINTS OF THIS OCCURRING.WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF STATE I HAD A THIRD STEM BREAK. EACH TIME I HAD NEW STEMS REPLACED. I BEGAN RESEARCHING FOR MYSELF AND FOUND AN ARTICLE WHICH STATED THAT FORD HAD COMPLAINTS OF DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS ON ALMOST ALL THEIR VEHICLES INCLUDING MERCURY'S. AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS AND COMPLAINTS TO MY DEALER I WENT TO A LOCAL TIRE DISTRIBUTOR AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING ALL RUBBER VALVE STEMS WITH BRASS HIGH PRESSURE VALVE STEMS. AFTER DOING THIS I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM. THE COST FOR RUBBER STEMS ARE AROUND $1.50 EACH AND I PAID $6.00 EACH FOR THE GOOD STEMS. THIS IS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY'S SAFETY. I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 FORD F150 IN 2007. IT IS NOW 2010 WITH 44K MILES. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES SINCE I PURCHASED IT WITH THE EMER. BRAKE, TIRES AND FRONT END POPPING, BUT TODAY WAS THE WORST! I WAS DRIVING APPROX 50 MPH TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND MY TRUCK BEGAN ACCELERATING! I STARTED BRAKING AND IT FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AS IT APPROACHED 60MPH. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PRACTICALLY STANDING ON IT USING THE STEERING WHEEL FOR LEVERAGE AND IT DID FINALLY SLOW TO ALMOST A STOP BUT THE ENGINE WAS REVVING VERY LOUD AND YOU COULD FEEL THE TRUCK PULLING FORWARD AS I HAD THE BRAKE TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO START CUTTING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO KEEP FROM HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE STOP LIGHT. I FINALLY IN PANIC MODE KEPT MY FEET ON THE BRAKE, ENGINE REVVING THE WHOLE TIME AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. IT FINALLY STOPPED AND THE ENGINE SLOWED. I WAS SCARED TO PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE. I DID HOWEVER PUT IT IN DRIVE AND SLOWLY STARTED MOVING FORWARD AS A POLICEMAN BEHIND ME BLUE LIGHTED ME TO PULL OVER. I WAS RELIEVED TO SEE HIM THINKING HE HAD WITNESSED THE EVENT AND WAS GOING TO HELP. I WAS PHYSICALLY SHAKING AND MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS CRYING VERY SCARED ASKING ME, "MOMMY WHY DID OUR TRUCK NOT STOP AND SOUND LIKE A RACE CAR?" I ASKED THE POLICEMAN DID YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENED? HE SAID, "YES MAM I SAW YOU TRYING TO STOP BUT THAT ISN'T WHY I PULLED YOU, I CLOCKED YOU GOING 60 IN A 45 APPROACHING THE LIGHT." I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE DID SEE HOW THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO STOP BUT HAD TO TICKET ME NEVER THE LESS BECAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION. I JUST GOT HOME AND STARTED LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE 148 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH NO RECALL OR EXPLANATION FROM FORD! MY 2007 FORD F150 JUST EXPERIENCED ITS 3RD VALVE STEM FAILURE FROM A TOPSEAL AUTO PARTS TR414 VALVE STEM THAT IS SUPPOSEDLY MANUFACTURED BY SHANGAI BAOLONG AUTOMOTIVE CORPORATION. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD TO CHECK MY VALVE STEMS BACK ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, BUT ALL OF THEM APPEARED OKAY AT THE TIME I CHECKED THEM AND AS I RECALL THE BULLETIN DID NOT INSIST THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED BY A DEALER. I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST VALVE STEM FAILURE ON 9/6/09 REQUIRING A NEW TIRE. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TOUGH LUCK, SAYING I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR IT TO BE CHECKED BY THEM. I HAD TO REPLACE THAT TIRE MYSELF FOR ABOUT $185. I THEN REQUESTED THAT THE 3 REMAINING STEMS BE REPLACED BY THE FUGATE MOTORS DEALERSHIP IN EL DORADO SPRINGS, MO. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN WARRANTY IN SEPTEMBER 2009. THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE VALVE STEMS BUT SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT STEMS AND SAID THEY HAD CHECKED THE 3 REMAINING STEMS AND THEY WERE FINE AND DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE RETURNING FROM COLORADO LAST WEEK I EXPERIENCED ANOTHER FAILURE ON 6/24/10 REQUIRING A CHANGED VALVE STEM AT A WALMART AND AND A 3RD FAILURE ON 6/25/10 WHICH WILL REQUIRE ANOTHER NEW TIRE. THE DEALER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY NOW DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR A SHREDDED TIRE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS WRECK. THEY ALSO POINTED OUT THAT MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MAY BE BAD DUE TO THE EXTENT OF THE TIRE SHREDDING. THEY NOW ALSO REMIND ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. A FEW MONTHS LATER MY OTHER TWO TIRES HAD STARTED FORMING BALLS ON THE INSIDE SIDE WALL OF THE TIRE, WHICH I WAS NOT AWARE UNTIL I WENT TO GET MY STATE INSPECTION STICKER, THE TECHNICIAN AT PUEBLO TIRES TOLD ME I HAD SEVERAL BALLS ON THE SIDES OF MY TIRES HE ALSO TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE THE TREAD WAS TO WORN, HE EVEN SHOWED ME THE TREAD LEVELS WITH A TREAD METER AND I VERIFIED THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH TREAD ON THE TIRES. I HAD A BLOWOUT ON THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE GOING 65 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE OF A HIGHWAY. MY 2007 FORD 150- SUPERCREW DROPPED DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED RIGHT. THESE 2 BLOWOUTS OCCURRED WITHIN 1. 5 HOURS OF DRIVING ALL IN THE FRONT. TIRES ARE NOT DESIGNED TO HANDLE THE EXCESS WEIGHT OF A F150 SUPERCREW. BOUGHT NEW IN 2007 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCK ALL ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND OWNER ONLY 19,000 MILES ON ORIGINAL TIRES. BLEW OUT DURING NORMAL DRY DRIVING CONDITIONS PULLING A EMPTY 16 FT TRAILER. IF IT HADN'T BEEN THAT IT WAS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND LATE AT NIGHT ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY WOULD HAVE HAD A WRECK. TRUCK WENT ALL OVER THE ROAD DUE TO THE BLOW OUT. VALVE STEM COMPLETELY GONE. THESE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL HANKOOK 17 INCH TIRES THAT WERE SOLD WITH THIS TRUCK AND THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 19K MILES THE WHOLE SIDE OF THE TIRE BLEW THE TREAD IS STILL THERE SIDE OF TIRE IN SHREDS AND NO VALVE STEM AT ALL JUST AN EMPTY HOLE WHERE IT SHOULD BE. IF THIS HAD OF BEEN A STEERING TIRE COULD HAVE POSSIBLY LOST CONTROL. I STILL HAVE 3 MORE OF THESE TIRES ON THE TRUCK; IS THERE A RECALL ON THE STEMS OR TIRES FOR THESE TRUCKS WHAT SHOULD I DO? THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE VALVE STEM CAUSED THE TIRE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE STEM ON THE TIRE THAT FAILED AND CHECKED THE OTHER TIRES. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE DEFECTIVE PARTS BUT NOT PARTS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. TUESDAY MORNING WHEN I WENT OUT TO MY TRUCK THE TIRE LOOKED TO ME TO BE LOW ON AIR AND LOW PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON IN THE TRUCK. I DROVE TO MY SHOP (APPROX. 7.2 MI.), TOOK OFF THE WHEEL TO CHECK FOR LEAKS (FOUND NON), CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE AND IT WAS AT 28 LBS, I FILLED THE TIRE WITH AIR TO 36 LBS. THE LOW PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT GO OUT. I CHECKED THE OTHER 3 TIRES AND FOUND THEM ALL TO BE LOW SO I FILLED THEM WITH AIR TO 36 LBS AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. AT THE END OF THE DAY I DROVE HOME, THEN TOOK MY WIFE TO DINNER (APPROX. 5 MI.). WHEN WE PULLED INTO THE RESTAURANT PARKING LOT AND TURNED RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OFF THE RIM AS I CAME TO A STOP. I AM NOT AS CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING A 'FREE' TIRE AS I AM OF THE SAFETY FACTOR INVOLVED. I HAVE 4 HANKOOK TIRES ON THIS TRUCK AND IT CONCERNS ME THAT ANOTHER ONE MAY BLOW APART (POSSIBLY AT FREEWAY SPEED). I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE TIRE. I AM 65 YEARS OLD AND I'VE WORKED ON CARS ALL MY LIFE AND I'VE NEVER SEEN A TIRE BEAD SPLIT THE WAY THIS ONE DID. I ALSO HAVE ASSOCIATES IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS WHO AFTER SEEING THE DAMAGED TIRE COMPLETELY AGREE WITH ME. I WOULD HATE TO SEE A REPEAT OF THE FORD EXPLORER TIRE PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED WITH FIRESTONE SEVERAL YEARS BACK; AND I HATE TO THINK THERE ARE MORE DEFECTIVE TIRES OUT THERE. I SPOKE WITH AND EMAILED THIS INFORMATION TO AL ABRADOR AT HANKOOK TIRE AND HE SAID 'IT WAS THE FAULT OF THE PERSON THAT MOUNTED THE TIRES', HE ALSO SAID THAT HANKOOK HAS HAD NO OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THESE TIRES. I WENT TO THE TIRE SHOP WHERE I'VE DONE BUSINESS FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A BROKEN BEAD LIKE THIS ONE. TIRE VALVE STEM FAILURE ON MY 2007 FORD F150. I'VE RECEIVED FORD'S SAFETY NOTICE 5 MONTHS AFTER ONE OF MY TIRE VALVE STEMS HAVE FAILED. THEIR NOTICE GAVE NO INDICATION THAT THEY INTEND TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS. THEIR REMEDY AS OUTLINED FOR CORRECTION OF THE PROBLEM BY MONTHLY INSPECTION OF VALVE STEM IS FAR FROM CORRECTIVE OR PREVENTIVE. I HAD VERY RECENTLY CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE, AND INSPECTED TIRES, VALVE STEMS, AND LUG NUT TORQUE PRIOR TO A LONG TRIP WHEN MY VALVE STEM FAILED. FORD SERVICE HAS ADDED PINION ANGLE SHIM KIT- DOES NOT FIX. SERVICE HAS REPLACED 1 ORIGINAL PIRELLI TIRE, AND STATED TIRE WAS OUT OF ROUND. THEY STILL BELIEVE TIRES PROBLEM, AND SUPPOSED TO MEET W/ PIRELLI REP TO HAVE TIRES REPLACED, BUT HAVE WAITED 2 1/2 WEEKS SO FAR. THE NEW TOYO TIRES AND RIMS WERE PUT BACK ON, AND STILL VIBRATION. NOT AS BAD, BUT STILL VIBRATES AT ALL SPEEDS. THERE MUST BE PROBLEM W/ FRONT END OR BRAKES, BUT FORD SERVICE HAS NOT FOUND YET. *TR

EXCESSIVE OUT-OF-BALANCE VIBRATION WITH 20"PIRELLI SCORPION ATR TIRES ON 2007 F-150. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. MY SERVICE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS A TSB THAT EXPLAINS THAT THIS CONDITION FOR THE "FIRST 20 MILES FROM REST" IS NORMAL. THAT'S HARDLY ACCEPTABLE. MY MILEAGE IS JUST UNDER 12,000 AND MY TIRE WARRANTY IS SOON EXPIRED. THEY HAVE REBALANCED THE TIRES 4-5 TIMES DURING THIS PERIOD. *TR
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A NEW 2007 FORD F-150 4 WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD P275/65R18 TIRES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW DOT CAN ALLOW A P TIRE, DOT APU9AU612407, TO BE INSTALLED ON A 7700 GVW VEHICLE THAT WILL BE USED OFF ROAD UNDER MAX LOAD. THE P TIRES ARE FOR PASSENGER CARS AND WILL NOT STAND UP UNDER HEAVY OFF ROAD USE. THE TIRES SHOULD BE LT RATED. MY PREVIOUS TWO NEW F-150 4 WHEEL DRIVES HAD LT TIRES FROM THE FACTORY. I AM TOLD THAT NOW THEY ARE ONLY INSTALLED ON F-250 TRUCKS. I BELIEVE THE P TIRES CONSTITUTE A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINENTAL GENERAL TIRES. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED AND CHANGED THE TIRE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRE WERE NOTIFIED AND THEY BOTH STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE. THE CONTACT STILL HAS THE TIRE IN HIS POSSESSION. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
