Orchid Isle Ford in Hilo has replaced the electronic power steering rack and pinion already once but now it’s gone bad again.I don’t understand why because I hardly drive my truck and it has only 40 something thousands miles on it

The first indication of problems came when I tried to put the truck in gear and I noticed that the reverse light didn't come on and it wouldn't engage into the gear then as I was traveling down a three-lane highway in the middle lane the car started jerking and like it didn't want to go and then I got to a red light and the truck would not move so I was stuck in the central lane but after engaging the gear several times I managed to get the vehicle into a gas station parking lot where I call the dealership after finding out that I had the trouble code that was referred in the recall and the vehicle was towed to Duval I mean it was told to Hogan forward on Atlantic boulevard .where it's now under inspection.

Was starting to accelerate out of a toll booth a vehicle and was about 60mph when suddenly the engine shut off. Electrical worked. Got mechanical symbol and then oil pressure low warning. It started to down shift and slow rapidly in traffic. Managed to get to side of road but almost got hit. Got it towed to dealer and the fuel pump fuse had melted. Shutting off the fuel pump.

The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake lights, the hazard lights, the turn signal lights, and the infotainment system and the A/C system became inoperable after the recall repair. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure might be related to the electrical system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The electronic power steering locked up while driving & could not turn the wheel at all. Yes this has been inspected & confirmed by an independent service center. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to this incident. The vehicle is render useless with the locked up steering.

I’ve had this specific issue happened a few times over the last year. Basically, my truck will get stuck in first gear, a wrench will pop up on the dashboard, and my odometer will go blank. Usually, my truck will stay in first gear until I put it in park and shut off the truck (to kind of “reset it”) and then crank it back up. Sometimes it takes multiple cycles of this. One time, I got stuck in third gear and had to use manual to shift it down to first gear (while driving), and then do the steps previously mentioned to “reset it”. Because of this, my truck has thrown a P0720 code. After research, it seems like the problem is with the molded lead frame. I have contacted multiple Ford dealerships, and they are definitely aware of the issue because each time they tell me that this issue used to be covered under warranty. The problem is, every dealership has said that this warranty expired some time ago (before I own the truck and before this started happening). Now they are saying the only way to prevent it is to spend $1600 for them to fix it. I don’t have $1600 to drop on a safety issue that is beyond my control. Especially since Ford knows about it. I have a video showing the last time it happened. I really hope this gets fixed because I do not want to be driving 60 miles an hour on the highway and suddenly drop into first gear.

While operating vehicle at highway speeds the speedometer suddenly drops to zero and the transmission downshifts to first gear without warning. Apparently a failure of the transmission speed sensor. (?) A driver unaware of this issue that continues to drive results in excessive heat and pressure developing in the differential..A recall has been issued by NHTSA but Ford and the local dealer refused to address the problem because my VIN was not included in the recall.

Ford has a "safety compliance" which has an expiration date of 10 years or 150,000 whichever was first. How is that even allowed? A major issue with the transmission range sensor which doesn't show a driver what gear there in...the lights all disappear so driver doesn't know if there in P, R, D, N, etc...its extremely dangerous! It also forces my truck to go into limp mode which is very dangerous especially when driving down a highway at 55. The truck was "reprogrammed" a few years back to stop the sudden downshift issue from occurring but it didn't eliminate that problem. Do you know how scary it is to be driving down the highway at 55-60 WITH YOUR TODDLER IN THE BACK...and then your truck suddenly on its own shifts down to 1st gear and there's nothing driver csn do but hope they don't hit or get hit by another vehicle?? These are just a few major issues I've had with the truck since buying it 5 years ago. I've barely drove rhe thing since the sudden downshift occurred and could have killed my son and I. The back window quit working. The transmission seems to have alot of issues and I was told because I am past 10 years..yet still under the 150,000 miles id have to pay full price for the backordered part through Ford only which was quoted at $470.00 and that doesn't include any labor. Ford is letting people down majorly. I wish I never bought the truck because it was so exciting to finally have a nice vehicle only to be let down in numerous areas. I drive my 1989 suburban more than my truck due to safety issues and because I am not going to spend thousands on it for an issue that they know has been a major problem for so many customers but yet it wasnt ever an official recall. Total BS!! I can't even believe they can get away with such issues. It's appalling and I'm beyond disappointed with my basically useless truck.

My truck truck won't start. We could jump it and it would be fine. I took it to ford and found out it was a bad Body control module and there was a nationwide backorder. I found on line a recall for other F-150 but didn't included mine. I was able to have mine repaired. Now I was pulling my camper home from Maine, parked the truck at home. The next morning I had a notice on the dash to have power steering serviced, found out the rack and pinion is bad. Again found others on-line with the same issue. I am lucky it didn't happen while towing or when my wife was driving. I also now have the same issues with a 2012 F-150. I feel like it needs to be investigated and Ford needs to make it right. I will fill out a complaint for the 2012 truck.

There is an active recall for my specific year/make/model - yet I'm being told it doesn't apply to my vehicle - but my vehicle is absolutely having the exact issue described in the recall. How do I get this resolved? The issue is that my vehicle will unexpectedly downshift, (I believe into first gear, based on the RPM's that I get stuck at) almost always while I am driving at freeway speeds. When this happens, an orange wrench appears in my dashboard warning indicator for a brief moment, then I lose all gauges - my digital displays literally just turn to blank dashes as I lose power and the ability to accelerate. My gauges all drop to as if the vehicle isn't even on, my speedometer displays "--" and my RPM's remain at approximately 1500 regardless of whether I try to accelerate or decelerate. If I decelerate, because I'm in the improper gear for the speed I'm traveling - I will not be able to accelerate. The only way for me to resolve the issue is to try and find somewhere to safely pull over, put the vehicle in park, turn the engine off, wait a few moments and then restart the engine. This happens without warning and at random. Sometimes multiple times in a day, sometimes not at all for a couple of weeks. I don't understand how my vehicle is exempt from the recall. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the dealer refused to look at the vehicle since it was not included in a recall. The contact diagnosed the vehicle with body control module (BCM) failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V128000 (Electrical System) however, this VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Over the last few months on at least 15 occasions my transmission has tried to downshift into 1st gear while traveling highway speeds (55-65). Causing the tires lock up but I have always caught it and shifted into neutral to not cause any problems. After researching it sounds like this is a VERY COMMON issue that apparently hasn't been resolved with Fords TSB and software reflash. Also, while this happens my speedometer goes to zero and a wrench screen come up on the instrument panel for a split second.

Transmission Range Sensor issues causing the truck did not recognize the gear correctly. Cluster did not recognize(light did not turn on) when the car is on gears. I called the dealer and they recognize is a issue on the F-150 of year 2011 - 2012.

We took our vehicle to Woodhouse Ford in Omaha, NE (72nd St Location) for the 19S07-6R80 Sudden Transmission Downshift-Powertrain Control Module Programming Recall. It was supposedly fixed with a software update. Not long after we experienced the PRNDL Illumination and Backup Lamp Activation (Recall 12C23) Symptom. We were told, while this is a known issue and a recall for other 2011 Ford F-150s, your vehicle’s specific VIN is not “officially in the recall”. Thus, your bill is $867.26 and $636.57 for the associated repairs; transmission leadframe, the backing light issue, and an associated parasitic leak. We pay, we get the vehicle back with no resolution of the parasitic leak and now a backing camera that no longer works (Blue Screen)…was working just fine prior. We now learn that the backing camera is a recall in other Fords…but not OUR VIN. Woodhouse quotes another $900 (New Backup Camera) and another $450 for the unresolved parasitic leak—which they had previously declared was resultant the leadframe malfunction.

The below was sent to me, It is difficult for me to understand why I was not told the recall expired in 2016 when I made the appointment (6-6-23) and when I handed my property over (6-12-23) to this dealership. Thank you for the diagnostic, it was very helpful, but, I still run the danger of crashing due to my breaks not pressing down when the pump goes out and the option to get FORD to fix it expired in 2016, My VIN is registered and I did not get a notice, I would gladly give this shop the $$ to fix the 2016 recall that expired. Now, that business will go to your competitor. If you were not aware of the expiration, I get that, but, you are a shop specifically designed for my Ford, again, thank you for the diagnostic but the way it was done I can't trust this shop or get other females to come there. Keep Jeff, do not run him off, his soul and manners feel safe and trusting, he treated me very well and I know he did what he was told to do by whoever was in charge. It was a really cold night. My niece got in my truck in the passenger side back door. When we got to the grocery store 10 minutes later, that door refused to open. When I hit the lock/unlock button, it didn't even sound like it engaged at all in that door panel. The manual lock could neither be pushed down or pulled up. As soon as it got warm out again, the door opened and the locking mechanism worked just fine.

My truck has been shifting hard..or taking a very long time to shift into gear. When I put the truck into reverse it doesn't indicate/light up the R-reverse light on dashboard which is dangerous not knowing what gear the truck is actually in..after quite some time it will slam or thud hard into reverse but still doesn't illuminate on the dash...then when switching into drive it slams very hard into gear. My acceleration has also been acting up and does not accelerate normal anymore. It's very sluggish and slow to get going which is very dangerous sometimes when entering a highway. I've also been going 40-50 mph and suddenly I lose power and my truck slows down and I have no control over it..hitting the gas only revs engine but does nothing. My reverse lights don't work sometimes either and my rear window has also quit working. I have contacted the locao ford dealer about these issues and the person was not only rude but was without doubt trying to rush me off the phone and told me they were booked up for many weeks and it'd be awhile before I could get the truck looked at...I bought thus truck in November 2019 and had taken it in for a recall that they had to do a quick reprogramming...come to find out there was also at the time a safety recall which "expired'" at 10 years or 150000 miles which is IMO total nonsense and unprofessional of Ford to not make this a real recall that they are required to fix knowing the many issues thousands of vehicles are having due to there negligence when they were built. It's not right to have there customers pay thousands out of there pockets to replace parts that are known to quit working properly and cause many safety issues for people driving the faulty vehicles. We are already paying monthly payments and the only thing the expired safety compliance/ not actual recall is doing for Ford is making them lose loyal customers. I truly worry about the unsafe occurrences that may happen with my child in my truck now and it's not right

Traveling down the highway the vehicle Ford F150 (part of an earlier recall 190v075000 Powertrain - taken to dealership for service) suddenly shifted into first gear, it was hard to control the vehicle for a moment, then the vehicle shifted in another higher gear and I was able to pull over, to the side of the road The computer was reset at the dealer and all appeared to be well when two days later, it did the same thing. There have been issues with the vehicle to go into a flooding kind of stall and the computer screen would go blank. After, stopping and turning off the truck would be ok. This vehicle is a danger to myself and others to drive. I live in a rural area 60 miles from the nearest dealership, where it is difficult to get an appointment and have been left stranded by the roadside, more than once. Fred Shumate, Dixon NM

Driving down residential street about 100 yards from my driveway and power steering completely failed. Dashboard message says steering assist fault. Luckily school hadn't let out yet so there weren't any kids running around. I was able to get the truck in my drive safely. I am having it towed to certified repair garage. Safety first. I've learned that this is a fairly common issue and that it can happen at highway speeds. Not cool Ford. Do better.

My vehicle is experiencing the same issues that were identified under recall 16V-248 with the exact same year, make and model vehicle. Several times, while driving at high speeds, the vehicle will display a wrench logo (MIL) and the vehicle will either downshift to 1st gear or completely lose all power to the pedal. After turning the ignition off and back on, for a period of time the vehicle will only move in 1st gear, will not downshift and the speedometer will not move. The check engine light will illuminate for a period of a few days and will without reason turn back off until the downshifting happens again.

While driving on the interstate my truck suddenly flashed a wrench on the display. At that point the truck shifted by itself into a lower gear almost causing an accident and for me to lose control of the truck. When this happened the speedometer stopped working and went to zero and the mileage disappeared and showed all dashes. Once I turn the ignition off, it seems to fix the problem for the short term, but after 20-30 mins it does the exact same thing again. This happened for the first time 3 weeks ago and has happened 5 or 6 times since. I have stopped driving the truck. Ford could not tell me specifically what was wrong with the truck because they couldn't recreate the error due to the fact that they wouldn't drive it for 20-30 mins for the problem to occur.

Vehicle locked up while driving on highway and almost caused crash. Vehicle had to be towed to dealership where they identified the issues as battery junction box fuse 27 crank no start, loss of RPM and/or malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)illumined with multiple dtcs. This is a known issues published on by the NHTSA article TSB 15-0137 -Part number EL3Z*14293*A Kit terminal -Vehicle locked up while driving on highway -The dealership was able to locate the issue and fixed the know fuse terminal burnout causing failure. -Ford customer relations officer is aware of this and a complaint was placed in for KNOWN FAILURE TSB15-0137 -Multiple lights and warnings after attempting to restart vehicle Ford CASE NUMBER CAS-35065515-Q7C7H5

. The APIM Module is not working. It is available for inspection upon request. . I was told by the dealer that this electrical issue could affect other components in the vehicle. . Yes - currently the radio is not working. . Component has not been inspected other than the Ford Dealer. . No symptoms prior to the failure. Radio has been inoperable since approximately July 2021.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 208,000.

ADVANCE TRAC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SCREEN AS WIFE AND 2 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AT NIGHT. IMMEDIATELY WIFE LOST POWER STEERING AND COULD NOT AVOID A MAILBOX IN FRONT OF HOUSE . TRUCK IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN UPON CRASHING INTO MAILBOX AND WOULD NOT RESTART. . HOWEVER LIGHTS , CLUSTER IN DASH AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF , WITH KEY REMOVED FROM IGNITION . WIFE OPENED DOORS . SHE INSERTED KEY INTO IGNITION WHILE TURNING SWITCHES AND KNOBS ATTEMPTING TO SHUT DOWN ACCESSORIES . NOTHING WOULD SHUT OFF . SYNC SYSTEM WAS ASKING SEVERAL UNINVITED QUESTIONS , WHILE CLUSTER WAS TURNING OFF AND ON , BLINKING , FLASHING RANDOM WARNING LIGHTS AND INDICATORS . BLINKERS WOULD NOT WORK . TOWED VEHICLE HOME . WITH KEY NOT IN IGNITION , SAME THINGS , LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF . REMOVED VEHICLE GROUND CABLE FROM BATTERY POST . PURCHASED AND INSTALLED BRAND NEW MOTORCRAFT BATTERY AND STILL HAVE SAME ISSUES . ONCE THERE IS A REDUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF THROTTLE, IT TAKES A FEW MINUTES TO REGAIN "NORMAL" DRIVING CONDITIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, MY FAMILY AND I WERE COMING HOME FROM FLORIDA ON THE PARKWAY, IN JULY AND WITH NO ABNORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS, AND AS I WAS ASCENDING A GRADE ABOUT 75 MILES PER HOUR AND A SEMI TRUCK BEHIND ME, I GAVE THE TRUCK MORE THROTTLE AND IT BEGAN TO SHUDDER VIOLENTLY, A SUBTLE BACKFIRE, AND LOST POWER AND COULD NOT REGAIN THROTTLE RESPONSE. THE DAY BEFORE I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE AFTER IT WARMED UP THEN PUT IT INTO PERVERSE AND IT DID NOT GO INTO REVERSE AT ALL OR DRIVE. AS A RESULT I TOOK IT TO MIDAS IN MY TOWN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE CODES AND BEHAVIOR SO THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR IT TO BE FIXED FOR FREE. AT APPROXIMATELY 8 IN THE MORNING ON 12/2/2018 I WAS AT A STOP GETTING READY TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, I HAD THE WINDOW DEFROSTER/HEAT ON, AS WELL AS THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. OVER THE LAST YEAR THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY BUT THE DEFROSTER HAS ALWAYS WORKED. AS I STARTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD THROWN SOMETHING AT MY TRUCK, BUT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION LESS THAN 5 MINUTES AND ABOUT A MILE LATER, I GOT OUT AND LOOKED AT THE ROOF FOR ANY SIGN OF SOMETHING HITTING THE ROOF, WHEN I NOTICED A STEADY TRAIL OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR WINDOW AREA, NOTICED THAT THE RUBBER HAD MELTED AND THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED COMPLETELY. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CIRCUIT, I HAVE SINCE REMOVED THE FUSE FOR THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WHICH DISABLES MY MIRROR HEATERS. I REQUEST THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATES THIS FURTHER AS THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF CASES OF THIS ISSUE AND IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND FORD IS AWARE OF IT. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT COULD HARM A CHILD OR SOMEONE SITTING IN THE BACKSEAT IF THE GLASS SHATTERS AND BLOWS OUT OF THE FRAME AS WELL AS SCARING SOMEONE CAUSING THEM TO REACT BY BRAKING, STEERING, ETC. AND POSSIBLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. AS FAR AS I KNOW, FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND HAS DENIED RESPONSIBILITY. THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS, COME BACK TO NORMAL, BUT TYPICALLY WITH A "TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE" MESSAGE ON WITH THE TROUBLE LIGHT REMAINING ON. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. ONCE IN A WHILE, IT LASTED LONGER AND CLUNKING NOISES SEEMED TO COME FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. HOWEVER, A FEW OCCURRENCES WERE WHILE TURNING AND THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT. I TOOK IT TO A BELLE TIRE NEARBY AND THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, SAYING THE DEALER HAD TO UPDATE THE ABS MODULE AND GAVE ME A PRINTOUT OF TSB 12-11-18 [ATTACHED SCAN]. THEY CIRCLED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES C1278 AND C1963 AS THE ONES THAT POPPED UP IN THEIR ANALYSIS. I FIND NO RECALLS OF THIS ITEM, BUT THE STEERING ISSUE IS CERTAINLY DANGEROUS.

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VALVE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE COMPUTER WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPROGRAMMED AND MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE SPEAKER WENT OUT IN MY BACK LEFT DOOR, SO I TOOK THE DOOR APART TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I TESTED THE SPEAKER AND IT WORKED FINE, SO I STARTED WORKING MY WAY BACK THROUGH THE WIRING HARNESS. WHEN I TOUCHED THE HARNESS WHERE IT GOES FROM THE DOOR TO THE BODY (IN THE DOOR JAM) THE SPEAKER STARTED WORKING. I REMOVED THE HARNESS FROM THE DOOR AND PULLED BACK THE RUBBER BOOT IN THE DOOR JAM. EVERYTHING WAS STILL WRAPPED IN FACTORY HARNESS WRAP, AND WHEN I EXPOSED THE WIRES, THE SPEAKER WIRES WERE SEVERED AND MOST OF THE WIRES IN THE BUNDLE HAD CRACKED INSULATION. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF BEING PINCHED OR DAMAGED EXTERNALLY, AND I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THIS WAS JUST FROM THE BENDING MOTION EVERY TIME THE DOOR WAS OPENED AND CLOSED. I BUILD CUSTOM AUTOMATED MACHINES FOR A LIVING AND WE ALWAYS USE FLEX RATED CABLE FOR APPLICATIONS LIKE THIS. SO THIS LOOKS LIKE THEY USED CHEAP WIRE WITH INSULATION THAT IS NOT RATED FOR THE NUMBER OF BEND CYCLES A DOOR GOES THROUGH. LUCKILY THE POWER WIRES FOR THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND DOOR SWITCH HAD NOT SHORTED OUT DESPITE THE COPPER BEING EXPOSED. I AM VERY CONCERNED THE REST OF MY DOORS ARE SUFFERING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS COULD LEAD TO NOT BEING ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, NOT BEING ABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW IN AN EMERGENCY, OR EVEN A FIRE IF THE POWER WIRES SHORTED OUT.

JUST RECENTLY I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND AT A SMALL ANGLE AND THE TRUCK COMPLETELY STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING. I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP WITHOUT ANY POWER STEERING UNTIL IT FINALLY STOPPED. I TRIED TO CRANK IT OVER BUT IT WOULDN'T START. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES IT FINALLY STARTED WITHOUT ISSUE. I'VE HAD IT STALL TWICE WHILE I LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF MY TRUCK AND IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE CONTACT ALERTED THE DEALER AT: KEY SCALES FORD, LEESBURG, FLORIDA, THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE TOWED TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.

TRAVELING ON I-10 AT APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES AN HOUR WENT TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE, WHEN I ACCELERATED TO PASS THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED INTO 3 GEAR ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. TRANSMISSION HAS A PROBLEM (NO NOTICE FROM FORD) TALKED TO SEVERAL OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.

MY 2011 F150 REAR WINDOW PANE BROKE ABOUT 1 MINUTE AFTER TURNING ON THE REAR DEFROST AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AS IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO HAVE A WINDOW BREAKING DIRECTLY OVER THE REAR SEATS. KIDS AND PASSENGERS ARE BEING PUT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION BY ENTERING THE BACKSEAT. THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM AS OTHERS HAVE STATED. I'LL THEN HAVE TO UNPLUG THE WIRES TO THE ECU PLUG THEM BACK IN THEN UNIT WILL START AND DRIVE BUT ACT UP AGAIN. I WAS STOPPED ON A SINGLE LANE STREET AT A STOP SIGN, WAITING TO ENTER A TWO LANE ROAD WITH SHOULDERS. I WAS GOING TO TURN LEFT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. ALL TRAFFIC FROM THE LEFT HAD PASSED. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND I BEGAN TO GIVE THE TRUCK GAS TO PULL OUT. I ONLY TRAVELED SEVERAL FEET WHEN THE TRUCK DIED. IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING, AS IF I HAD SHUT THE KEY OFF WHILE MOVING. NO SOUNDS OF ANY KIND OR ANY WARNING. IT JUST DIED. I WAS FACING ACROSS THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST LANE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE OTHER SIDE. I THINK THE ROAD WAS SLIGHTLY SLOPPED BECAUSE I HAD JUST ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET ACROSS AS I WAS FIGHTING TO TURN THE TRUCK ONTO THE SHOULDER. IF I WASN'T ABLE TO TURN THE TRUCK I WOULD OF ENDED UP IN A SMALL GULLY ON THE OTHER SIDE. LUCKILY THE DRIVER OF THE APPROACHING CAR FROM MY RIGHT WAS ALERT, AND HAD ENOUGH TIME TO GO BEHIND ME. THIS COULD OF ENDED BADLY. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY DEALER. THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH A FUSE (#27) FOR THE PUMP RELAY, AND THAT THERE WAS A TSB.

MY 2011 F150 FX4 HAS BEEN ACTING UP WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. SO FAR THEY HAVE CHANGED ALL OF TH COIL PACKS, RESET THE TRANSMISSION, CHANGED ALL THE SPARK PLUGS IN A HOPE THAT WAS THE ISSUE. WELL IT'S NOT. CALLED TOW TRUCK, WHICH HAD TO COME FROM FLAGSTAFF. DROPPED OFF AT FORD DEALER, AS IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING, EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD ALONG LIST OF VEHICLES TO WORK ON. I THEN TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, IT DID START, PICKED MY WIFE AND BELONGINGS FROM THE HOTEL, AND DROVE, NON-STOP TO EL CENTRO (350 MILES). TOOK TO DEALER. IT STARTED AGAIN FOR THEM. GO FIGURE! LATER THAT AFTERNOON, IT WOULD NOT START FOR THEM. THEY THEN CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, WHO TOLD THEM WHAT TO LOOK FOR, TSB 15-0137. THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A TEMPORARY REPAIR, AND THAT THEY WOULD ORDER A NEW FUSE BLOCK, AS FUSE NUMBER 27 HAD MELTED THE CONNECTIONS IN THE BOX, THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE A PROPER CONNECTION. THE GENERAL MANAGER TOLD ME ABOUT A PERSONAL FRIEND OF HIS WHO HAD THIS HAPPEN TO HIS ALMOST NEW TRUCK, AND HE GOT RID OF THE TRUCK. I CANNOT AFFORD TO DO THAT. IT HAS BEEN SINCE NOVEMBER 9, 2015 WHEN THIS OCCURRED, AND NOW THE AGENCY, EL CENTRO MOTORS 1520 FORD DRIVE EL CENTRO, CA. 92243 (760) 336-2100 IS TELLING ME THAT REPAIR TSB 15-0137 IS A PERMANENT REPAIR, AND THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT REPLACE THE FUSE BLOCK AND HAS NO IMPROVEMENT FUSE BLOCK AVAILABLE, AND THAT THE FUSE BLOCKS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, AS THERE IS A 120 DAY WAITING PERIOD TO OBTAIN THEM.

WENT TO FORD DEALER THEY SAID THAT I SHOULD JUST GO TO A GLASS SPECIALIST TO HAVE IT FIXED. IN MAY 2015 MY 2011 FORD F150 3.5L ECOBOOST BEGAN MAKING A BUZZING NOISE IN THE FRONT LEFT FENDER WELL UNDER THE HOOD. FROM THAT TIME FORWARD THE TRUCK MAKES THE NOISE UPON START-UP. ONCE THE VEHICLE RUNS FOR A WHILE THE NOISE SEEMS TO FADE AWAY BUT RETURNS UPON RESTART. A TECHNICIAN TRIED TO DIAGNOSE THE NOISE AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN WORSE WHICH PROMPTED ME TO TAKE THE TRUCK BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO DIAGNOSE AGAIN. THIS TIME I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE MATTER AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SOME CONCERN ABOUT THE VACUUM PUMP IN SOME OF THESE MODEL TRUCKS. UPON PICKING UP MY TRUCK THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE VACUUM PUMP AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE PART IS ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH FORD AT THIS TIME. I MADE AND APPOINTMENT WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE NOISE. HE WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM AND SAID THAT 9/10 TIMES THE VACUUM PUMP IS THE PROBLEM. HE EXPLAINED THAT FORD HAD SWITCHED VENDORS FOR THE PART AND REDESIGNED THE PUMP IN NEWER MODELS AND ISSUED A (TSB) REGARDING THE PUMP. SINCE MY TRUCK WAS JUST OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, WHICH WAS QUOTED AT MORE THAN $900. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL MID AUGUST 2015 AND THAT I SHOULD SCHEDULE TO HAVE THE REPAIR COMPLETED THEN. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A SAFETY HAZARD ASSOCIATED WITH CONTINUED DRIVING AND HE SAID, "NO, THE ONLY THING THAT COULD HAPPEN IS YOU COULD LOSE YOUR BRAKES OR POSSIBLY 4 WHEEL DRIVE, BUT YOU'LL NOTICE THAT THE BRAKES ARE HEAVY IF ITS GOING OUT COMPLETELY." I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT THEY ACKNOWLEDGE AS A PROBLEM AND HAVE REDESIGNED, AND WHICH CAN CAUSE BRAKE OR 4 WHEEL DRIVE FAILURE PUTTING MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS AT RISK.

TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (APPLE FORD IN RED LION, PA) I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY SAID THE ALTERNATOR IS BAD AND CHARGING TOO MUCH. THERE STATED THAT THERE ARE NO AFTER MARKET ALTERNATORS FOR THIS MAKE AND YEAR. SO AFTER PAYING $1055.00 FOR A FORD BRAND ALTERNATOR, THE TRUCK WAS FIXED. THAT IS WAY TOO MUCH MONEY FOR AN ALTERNATOR. IT IS AN OUTRAGE!! I CHECKED AROUND AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE PRICE OF THIS PART IS ACTUALLY THIS EXPENSIVE. A WEEK OR TWO BEFORE THE INCIDENT I NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT ON THE REAR DEFROST BUTTON NO LONGER TURNED ON WHEN THE REAR DEFROST BUTTON WAS PRESSED. I WASN'T SURE IF THE REAR DEFROST WAS WORKING OR NOT. ON THE MORNING OF THE INCIDENT IT WAS COOL OUTSIDE AND THE WINDOWS WERE FROSTY. I PRESSED THE REAR DEFROST BUTTON AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK AND IT ONCE AGAIN DID NOT LIGHT UP. I STARTED DRIVING TO WORK WITH MY TWO KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE MILES I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS IF SOMETHING HAD HIT THE TRUCK. I LOOKED IN ALL THE MIRRORS TO FIND WHAT HAD HIT THE TRUCK AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED. IT HADN'T FALLEN OUT OF THE FRAME, BUT WAS SPIDER-WEBBED THROUGHOUT. WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE HAD SEEN 5 OTHER 2010-2011 F-150'S JUST THIS WINTER WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE READ THE WINDOW DOES SOMETIMES SHATTER OUT OF THE FRAME AND INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. AS HE WAS DRIVING LESS THAN A MILE FROM HOME, THE TRUCK HAD BEEN RUNNING ABOUT 3 MINUTES HE SMELLED RUBBER BURNING, AT WHICH TIME THERE WAS THICK WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW AND THE GLASS BEHIND MY GRANDSON'S CAR SEAR SHATTERED DUE TO A SHORT IN THE HEATING ELEMENT OF THE REAR DEFROSTER. FORTUNATELY OUR 18 MONTH OLD GRANDSON WAS NOT IN THE TRUCK AS THE SHARDS OF GLASS WERE FALLING OUT OF THE WINDOW INTO HIS SEAT. FORD WILL NOT COVER GLASS UNDER MY WARRANTY. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE AND I HAVE INCLUDED THE LINK BELOW WHERE YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH FORD F150 TRUCKS RANGING FROM 2010 TO 2014. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR KNOWN PROBLEMS, I VERIFIED A BLOWN VACUUM PUMP FUSE. THE DEALER VERIFIED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS SEIZED THEREFORE BLOWING THE FUSE. I FIND IT CURIOUS WHY A MAJOR BRAKE COMPONENT CAN FAIL WHILE NOT SETTING A FAILURE CODE OR INDICATING A FAILURE ON THE FORD DISPLAY PANEL (CHECK BRAKE LIGHT, ETC.). HOW CAN THE VACUUM ASSIST FOR THE BRAKES TOTALLY FAIL ON A 2011 VEHICLE AND NOT TELL THE DRIVER THERE IS A PROBLEM? AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VITAL PART IN STEERING FUNCTIONALITY. I ALSO READ THAT IF THIS PART FAILS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING, THERE IS A SERIOUS RISK OF ACCIDENT. I'M THANKFUL THAT MY TRUCK WASN'T MOVING WHEN THIS STEERING RACK WENT BAD. BUT IT CONCERNS ME THAT SO MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM AND THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL. A BLOCK OF ICE FELL OFF A TRUCK AHEAD OF ME, EVASIVE ACTION WAS NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO ICE AND TRAFFIC VOLUME. THE ICE STRUCK THE ALTERNATOR WHICH IS CLEVERLY POSITIONED ABOUT 10" OFF THE GROUND ON THE LOWER LEFT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEM BY SYSTEM. I CANT RECALL THE EXACT SEQUENCE, AS IT WAS ALL HAPPENING PRETTY FAST. EVENTUALLY, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM LOST POWER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON THIS VEHICLE, YOU LOSE ALL STEERING CAPABILITY. ITS NOT LIKE ITS JUST MANUAL STEERING, THERE IS NO STEERING OTHER THAN THE ABILITY TO SLIGHTLY ALTER COURSE BY PULLING EXTREMELY HARD ON THE WHEEL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IN THE RIGHT LANE, DOING ABOUT 60 MPH. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, THE TRUCK SIMPLY SHUT OFF AND LOST ALL POWER. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND WAITED A MINUTE OR SO TO CALM DOWN AND DECIDE WHAT TO DO. I THEN TRIED TO RESTART THE TRUCK, AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I NERVOUSLY DROVE THE REST OF THE 25 MILES OR SO TO MY HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE TRUCK ALSO SEEMED TO RUN FINE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS UNTIL I COULD GET IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY WAS BAD (ONLY 2+ YEARS OLD) AND REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. IT SEEMS ODD TO ME THAT THE BATTERY WAS THE PROBLEM, SINCE THE TRUCK RESTARTED EASILY AND RAN WELL FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. HOWEVER, THE NEW BATTERY DOES SEEM TO HAVE CURED THE PROBLEM AS IT HASN'T REPEATED THE TRAVELING SHUT DOWN. I AM CAUTIOUS AND NERVOUS NOW ABOUT DRIVING OVER IT FOR FEAR IT MIGHT SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE FORD VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT READS "ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AMP; EMISSIONS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED 8 TIMES WITH NO CORRECTIVE RESULTS. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THE BUILD UP OF FUMES AND THE POSSIBILITY OF FIRE. I APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND LET OFF THE GAS, AND STARTED TO SLOWDOWN SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS BEFORE COMING TO INTERSECTION. AFTER THE JULY 31 INCIDENT, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO FORD TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE ISSUES SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD ON THE ECO BOAST ENGINE, WHICH I HAVE. NO CODES APPEARED SO I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. THEN TALKED TO REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOT THE SAME STORY. I AM VERY CONCERNED AS I USE THE TRUCK TO TOW A 26' TRAILER. WHEN THE ECO BOAST TURBO WORKS, I HAVE PLENTY OF POWER TO MERGE OR PASS. THE ABOVE EXPERIENCE WAS SCARY AND I DID NOT HAVE THE TRAILER BEHIND ME AT THE TIME. NOW I FEEL I CAN NOT REASONABLY DEPEND ON IT TO WORK AS IT SHOULD. I THINK IT IS THE TURBO BUT IT COULD BE THE ELECTRONIC GAS PEDAL, OR THE TRANSMISSION BUT I REALLY DO NOT THINK THESE ARE THE ISSUE. PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU.

I WAS TRAVELING IN THE RIGHTHAND LANE OF THE EAST BOUND SIDE OF I24 AROUND MANCHESTER, TN. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH. I SUDDENLY CAME UP UPON SLOWER TRAFFIC IN THE SAME LANE AND SIGNALED TO PASS THE SLOWER TRAFFIC. AS I LOOKED IN MY MIRRORS FOR TRAFFIC BEHIND ME I NOTICED ANOTHER VEHICLE CLOSING ON ME IN A HURRY. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO GAIN SPEED AND MAKE THE PASS. THE VEHICLE LURCHED AND THE MOTOR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PASS. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME LOCKED THEIR BRAKES AND MANAGED TO SLOW THEIR VEHICLE DOWN BEFORE POSSIBLY COLLIDING WITH ME. I LET THE SLOWER TRAFFIC ON THE RIGHT PASS AND SIGNALED TO GET BACK IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. I RENTED A FORD PICKUP TRUCK FROM U-HAUL, AND I FEEL THAT THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTING CONTROLS ON IT ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. AT NIGHT, WHEN YOU OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATION (SPEEDOMETER, OTHER GAUGES) COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN YOU PUT IN THE KEY AND START THE ENGINE, THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (WHITE LIGHTS ON THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK THAT ARE NOT AS INTENSE AS THE NORMAL LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS) COME ON. THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATION REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. *THE REAR RED RUNNING LAMPS/TAIL LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE*, BUT THIS IS NOT OBVIOUS WHEN YOU ARE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE RESULT IS THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH SOME WHITE LIGHT COMING OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE ABILITY TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER, BUT WITH *NO REAR LIGHTING*. I VERIFIED THAT THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS FULLY OFF (AS THAT IS SOMETIMES AN INPUT TO THE DRLS), AND HAD A FRIEND STAND ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET AND OBSERVE AS I DROVE THE TRUCK, AND HE VERIFIED THAT I HAD NO RUNNING LIGHTS/TAIL LIGHTS ON THE BACK. THE BRAKE LAMPS OPERATED NORMALLY WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, BUT THERE WAS NO RED LIGHT TO THE REAR UNLESS I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. ALL OF THE ABOVE WAS WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH OFF. WHEN I CLICKED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE FIRST POSITION, THE RUNNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED (ORANGE ON THE FRONT NEAR THE HEADLAMPS, RED IN THE REAR LAMP CLUSTERS.) WHEN I CLICKED IT TO THE SECOND POSITION, THE NORMAL LOW BEAMS CAME ON AT FULL INTENSITY. WHAT I THINK SHOULD BE DIFFERENT: EITHER THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS/DRLS SHOULD ALSO TURN ON THE TAIL LIGHTS AT NIGHT, OR THERE SHOULD BE SOME INDICATION TO THE DRIVER THAT HE NEEDS TO TAKE ADDITIONAL ACTION (OPERATE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH) IN ORDER TO HAVE TAIL LIGHTS. HAVING THE SPEEDOMETER ILLUMINATION GO OUT WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED MIGHT BE A GOOD CHOICE. *TR

THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING TO HAVE TO EXPERIENCE SO SOON WITH A BRAND NEW TRUCK. THE LOCATION OF THIS WIRING HARNESS IS IN AN AREA THAT UNLESS YOU HAVE SIDE STEPS AND MAYBE EVEN THEN, IS NOT PROTECTED. EVEN THEN THE WAY THE WIRING HARNESS COMES OUT FROM WITHIN THE WHEEL WALL MAKES NO SENSE. I'M ATTACHING A FEW PICTURES SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT OCCURRED. LUCKILY, SOMEONE SAW THE WIRE DRAGGING AND TOLD ME BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE. I PUT UP THE HARNESS AND TAPED IT TO HOLD IT UP. THIS COULD HAVE HAD A HORRIBLE OUTCOME HAD THE WIRES CONTINUED TO SHRED OR MAKE CONTACT WITH ONE ANOTHER.

MY NEW FORD F150 HAS RECURRING ISSUES WITH THE SYNC SYSTEM. WE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, HANG UP THE BLUETOOTH CONNECTED PHONE AND THE RADIO WILL BEGIN PLAYING AT FULL VOLUME AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOP WORKING, OR YOU WILL BE STARTING THE CAR UP AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WILL BE FULL BLAST OR YOU WILL START THE CAR AND YOU WONT HAVE ANY RADIO/CD PLAYER/ MEDIA CONTROLS WORKING AT ALL. MY FORD REP SAYS THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND THEY DON'T EXPECT ONE UNTIL MAYBE THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2011. *KB

FROM A DEAD STOP I ACCELERATED TO TURN INTO HER DRIVEWAY THE ENGINE HESITATED AND STUMBLED IT SOUNDED LIKE YOU HAD THROWN A HANDFUL OF MARBLES INSIDE THE INTAKE THE ENGINE MADE A FUNNY NOISE THEN DIED AFTER GETTING IT RESTARTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON UPON RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I FOUND OUT IT HAD MELTED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD SENSORS AND PART OF THE THROTTLE BODY AWAY FORD HAS NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS THE TRUCK IS ALSO BEEN PLAGUED WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. APPARENTLY IT CAME REAL CLOSE TO AN ENGINE FIRE THE TRUCK IS STILL BROKE DOWN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE AUGUST 5, 2011. *TR
